Easiest professor teaching stats. Only stay in class until you finish work for the day which is usually 45 min a class. Tests are open computer, open book, and open notebook. Class is very easy.
He's the best prof I've had so far at Bentley. Although he's pretty hard, he's VERY HELPFUL AND FUNNY! FUNNIEST TEACHER EVER! he gives out all the info needed for the test. There are two exams & a final. The exams are 80-100 MC with 2 essays. MC aren't hard and he gives out questions for essay beforehand. HES also HOT HOT HOT. love him TAKE HIM!
Great class but really hard. 3 tests each one consisting of 80-100 MC plus 2 essays. Alot of work but you learn alot.
He is the BEST teacher I've at here so far. Some people might find him hard but I loved him. He makes class interesting and he loves students to talk. His tests are hard, and there are 3 of them, but he gives you all the information so as long as you study, you'll do well. He is a really nice guy and all in all, I loved his class.
Excellent teacher. Classes are spent doing "projects" and you are free to leave afterwards. Explains things to the point that you need to know, and is incredibly nice. Will help you with whatever you need in terms of grades, etc... Highly recommend him.
he relates the material to his lectures, but sometimes his lectures just come out of nowhere & you're left with notes that don't really make sense. harder than other econ profs, but he's really funny & is great overall. he scaled our tests & gives "redemption essays" to boost your grades.
He is the man. One of the funniest people I've met... I would go hang out with him anyday. So easy, likes to cancel class.
The best teacher I've had at Bentley. He's got a really dry sense of humor and a really interesting guy. Sometimes goes off topic and starts talking about his life experiences. Never gives HW but tests are hard. MC questions are extremely confusing but he'll give you the essay questions in advance. He's the kind of prof that you either love or hate
amazingggg professor. Class is really fun, but if you skip.. he doesnt care as long as u just show up for the exams and pass. Only 3 exams the entire semester which are really easy, no homework no projects. Impossible to get below a 'B' grade in this class, he gives redemption essays to improve your grade. really helpful and down to earth.take him
Great guy, great sense of humor. Hates morning classes just as much as we do. Tests aren't easy, but he gives the essays in advance. No hw, maybe one easy quiz.
HE Gives the longest tests in Bentley History but if you know the material it's very easy. He is one of the best and the funniest teachers that you can have in Bentley.Lectures are really fun and he teaches very well. Definitely take this guy
He is a great professor, very helpful and understanding. He is also very funny and his lessons are interesting. You can see that he has a passion for teaching the subject.. His exams are quite hard but he is generous in pulling up grades.
I liked his dry sense of humor a lot and found him to be the one of very few profs. i've had that is actually qualified to be teaching. He has a great teaching style. His stories will keep you entertained. I hated econ, but I liked his class....
Had a ton of stories to tell, which kept class really entertaining. He gave no homework, no quizes, no papers. All we had was a midterm and final, and an optional essay paper if you want to improve your grade. Pretty easy and class is enjoyable.
Tests are really tough and sooooo long. Class is entertaining but he does not really teach much in class. Have to read the book. Great sense of humor and knows what he is talking about. GO TO OFFICE HOURS, if you need help. And he curves tests too.
Good guy, decent class. He cracks jokes and tries his best to keep you awake but if you are taking this class you are an Eco or Eco/Fi major anyway. Maybe 2 or 3 homeworks total. 2 Midterms (take home and in class) & a final. You get the in class midterm and final beforehand and can prepare the essays ahead of time. I would recommend him.
very entertaining in class and assigned no work throughout the semester, but the tests are really hard. on average there were 70 multiple choice and 2 essays. your 3 test scores are your grade so if you don't do well on them, you're not going to get a good grade.
I took Prof Snyder for both EC111 & 112. Though he gives long exams with >60 multiple-guess Qs and essay Qs to prepare), he is always willing to help his students to understand the materials and tells us exactly what he expects from us. I got 3.7 for both courses, but honestly I loved going to class just to listen to his lively, humorous lectures.
Tests are very long. 50 or 60 MC with 2 essays that you get to prepare before hand. The only time you will ever open the books is to study for the exams. Very nice guy. You will feel out of place if you had a different prof for EC111 and then take him for EC112.
I love Professor Snyder!!! Great person. His teaching style is unique and his tests are very easy if you read the chapters! Highly recommend him :0)
Professor Snyder is by far my favorite teacher at Bentley so far. He makes you want to attend class to listen to his witty commentary and entertaining stories. He takes a dull subject and makes it interesting. His tests are long, but he takes all the multiple choice off the online quizzes and gives you the essays ahead of time. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Good class if you're willing to work. It was the only class sophmore year worth waking up for, and he is amazing - teaching 5 sections and keeping his wit and vocabulary intact - ridiculous. You can tell he really cares about what he teaches. If you take him, you'll like econ more than accounting or stats, even at Bentley.
he was a good teacher in terms of making the students interested. tests were really hard- alot of information and writing. grade is made up of 3 tests, 1 project, n 1 quiz. i was actually interested in this class but didnt end up doing that well because i didnt write enough for the essay questions on the tests
Everyone likes professor Snyder
UTLILTY...ENDOWMENT LETS SLAUGHTER SOME NAMES TEARS ON THE TABLES AT STARBUCKS UNTIL THEY KICK HIM OUT
Funniest guy ever and a really good teacher. If you write the essays beforehand and read the text you should be fine. Best economics teacher ever
Guy's hilarious. Keeps material interesting and you actually learn stuff. Took similar classes in HS, and his EC111 and EC112 classes were way more informative. Spend a decent amount of time preparing and studying and you'll do fine. Great professor overall.
Absolutely phenominal, if you do the work he will give you the grade. He's very passionate, extremely funny, and will keep you interested on real world topics. Bentley's finest and its a damn shame he doesnt teach more classes here
Snyder is a great professor because he's not only supremely intelligent but because he knows how to relay his knowledge unto his students clearly and concisely as well as tries to make it entertaining . I can honestly say I took alot away from this course and if he taught more than intro I would take him again in a heartbeat!
If you can follow what he's saying this guy is the sh!t. He's hilarious, but does tend to talk a little fast. Tends to wax poetically, is extremely cynical, and is dripping with sarcasm. MC ?s on the test are ALL from the book's test bank, but the essays on the tests require serious prep (if you want a great grade)no homework other than reading
I took Snyder because of the good things other students say about him. He IS funny & can make the material interesting, yet I got the lowest final grade Ive ever received taking this class. He gives you essays ahead of time to prepare for tests, which is great! But the MC questions KILL you, theyre hard & from the book that he fails to cover.
Snyder is an aquired taste. The MC portions of exams are totally absurd. (something like 95-120 questions) But he knows this, and curves grades if there are "train wrecks". Knows sooo much about EC and life in general. Great guy to visit during office hours just to talk.
I agree with the statement below mine. MC questions are TOUGH. Essays are easy. Talks a little fast at times. But amazing class to go to. ALWAYS available to meet outside of class. HIGHLY recommend taking his class if you can't do a course away for this class, since the other economic professors are not that great.
class is pretty interesting. he has a tendency to name drop- rattles off the names of all these famous economists that he knows which can be really annoying, but hes funny and keeps you engaged. tests are ok but soooo long. he actually administered one test over two classes- one day for essays and one entire class just for MC. it wasnt pretty.
Tests are very long and sometimes impossible to finish but he lets you WIP it. He corrects what you've done and you're allowed to finish it later. He's a funny guy who knows his stuff. Talks kind of fast. Read the book and know the concepts and you should be fine. Gives the essays ahead of time. MC is long. Take him if you can.
Snyder has a dark, sarcastic sense of humor which is my favorite thing about his class. The essays are long and my grade isn't as good as I'd like it to be. But I've learned a lot, have amazing handouts, and a notebook full of direct quotes like "when you go into exile in America, you go to Kansas". I would recomment him to anyone.
Honestly, the best teacher at Bentley. Take him if you are an Economics or EcoFi major; you will learn so much that will matter in your later courses. Go to class because he explains and basically (with a little reading) will tell you exactly what to write for your essays on the exams. The first exam is long, but once you finish it, the rest of
Very hard professor and assigns a TON of reading. The lectures are generally pointless to attend, but attendance is mandatory. Avoid if you can, class is hard.
Attendance is mandatory. He hates it if you miss class but doesn't understand that his lectures are boring. He blabbers a lot, you don't know on what to take notes. And the truth is any notes you take will be useless because his exams come from the text and his essays from documents he gives you. I love economics but he actually makes me doubt it.
He's a good guy and I find him hilarious, but I'm not a fan of the class structure. Exams are pretty much based off the readings (which he assigns a crazy amount of), and what we discuss in class is usually not very important to understand come test time. One of the exams is just nasty, so prepare to lock yourself away for a week. funny dude tho
I've taken Snyder for three classes EC111, EC112, and EC341. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN. One of the best teachers I've had in my time at Bentley. Always will try to help you out as much as he possibly can. Go to his office hours, have a cup of tea, and "wax poetic". He's an Econ genius, but can be hard to understand at times. An awesome guy/teacher anyway
For economics, Snyder is your best bet. He really knows a lot about the suject and keeps the classes attention. He's sarcastic and funny and the readings that are assigned aren't really mandatory but I recommend trying to keep up for when the tests come.
Very smary guy. I had to do a lot of work for his class, but it was all taken directly from current events so it was extremely interesting. Tests require a lot of preparation, but are EASY if you just study. You can ask him anything about the tests beforehand too, and he will tell you the exact right answer. TAKE HIM!
Snyder is probably one of the smartest professors at Bentley. He repeats a lot of ideas class after class but they get drilled in your head. There aren't many classes that I retain information from but this is one. Had 2 tests and a final that is not comprehensive. Gives you essays ahead of time which need preparing. Only work is around test time.
Snyder is a funny guy but his tests are impossible and he's a tough grader... I would not recommend
Prof. Snyder is hilarious and knows his stuff but seems to have a passive aggressive edge, ego. MC questions straight from a test bank, nothing to do with class.
he is not what he is cracked up to be...avoid at all cost.
Snyder is the man! Tough class but he may be one of the smartest guys on campus. I hate hard classes but he makes you laugh and will help you out a ton. Huge Ego but it's hilarious. Boss-man Snyder is awesome and I'd take him again in a second. (took both required econ's with him and loved them both) 3.3 and 3.0
It's actually Snyder's fault that I'm now a fan of Keynes, haha. I disagree with a lot of comments here. The man is practically brilliant, and I've learned so much from his course. If you're an eco-fi major, I'd say taking Snyder is almost mandatory if you truly would like to learn economics.
Snyder is a very smart man and lectures a lot from his own experiences and knowledge. He is much better than the professor I had for EC 111 and he's possibly the best EC 111 and EC 112 professor at Bentley.
Snyder made me love econ. Took him for EC111 & EC112. His exams are not as bad as ppl say. He gives you the essays a week before & goes over what he wants in class & go to office hrs for more help. For the multiple choice just make sure you read before class and then 2-3 times before the exam. Do online quiz. 3.7/4.0 in reach. Expect to learn a lot
Best professor I've had so far at Bentley. Materials are really interesting. Begins every class saying, "Par-tic-u-lars." He's pretty chill during officec hours and actually cares. He has no problem with giving extra time on tests. He even moved us to another building once when another class was coming in.
The best professor at Bentley, and I say that having had a lot of really good professors. He bases his classes on current events, and is never short on words. I appreciated also that he was unfiltered and said what he really thought. You would never hear from a mainstream economist that environmental regulation is hindered by big money in politics.
Snyder is a great guy. He loves his Econ and he just wants you to do well. He announces grades sometimes but if youre doing well its an ego boost. He's one of those guys where if you read the text (not long) and pay attention (even though he repeats himself often) you can get a good grade. But then again, i love econ
Very enthusiastic about teaching the class, but does not teach the materials on the test -- make sure you review the modules and remember everything from micro.
Very enthusiastic, and incredibly brilliant (and funny). The major drawback to taking the class is the length of the tests. They require a ton of studying if you want to do well, but he does curve them, and the essays are given in advance. The course is hard, but you will learn a lot.
Professor Snyder made the class extremely interesting. I did not like econ before this class and he made me love it. He is extremely funny and knowledgable. The best professor at Bentley. HOWEVER, the tests were extremely difficult and required a ton of studying. There were 90 multiple choice questions and usually three essays.
Honestly, Snyder is the best professor I've had at Bentley. His classes are intriguing with current and interesting stories and topics. However, his tests are pretty difficult. Will take one of his classes again.
This guy is one of the most well read professors I have taken I wish he taught more classes that I need to take but luckily he teaches a few electives. Very knowledgeable, very clear. Easily my favorite teacher at Bentley.
My perspective on Snyder is a little different than the other reviews on here. I think that he is a great professor, but I found sitting through his classes to be painful. He goes over the same material over and over again, telling all the same stories. I don't think his exams are particularly difficult, they are just LONG. Your hand will cramp.
Snyder is a great professor. You will learn an incredible amount from him, and if you work hard, you'll get rewarded. Don't take shortcuts, remember to read the textbooks, and prepare in advance for his tests. Midterm was 120 MC and like four essays. Final was 80 MC and 3 essays plus a take home. They're tough but not impossible.
Snyder is a fantastic professor--don't let the long exams scare you off. Class is engaging, he's clear with his expectations, and if you take the time to read through the chapters (actually very a understandable, easy read) before the exam, it'll be a breeze. Do the online practice quizzes and you'll be in good shape. 3.74.0 in reach with effort.
Snyder is awesome & very passionate about economics. Took him for micro & macro. Zero homework all year. Lots of reading that you don't need to do. Must go to class. Your whole grade is just the midterm & final & 1 quiz. Tests are lengthy but not too bad if you study.
Snyder is one of the best. He is very helpful (esp if you go to office hours) and the connection between classroom material and real world make him standout. I would take him for all econ classes if possible EVEN on a friday. Great guy, understanding, and you will learn so much.
Favorite teacher so far at Bentley. I think his development of economic thought class should be mandatory for econ majors. Gave us questions for midterm/final a week ahead to prepare. Funny, makes lectures interesting.
Snyder is the MAN! seriously loved taking him this semester, he makes economics interesting and entertaining. Not only does he teach the material, but he also does an amazing job of explaining it and applying it to real life situations. I really feel like i have an understandings of economics now. His tests are hard/intense so prepare in advance.
Prof. Snyder is a very entertaining professor, who knows a lot about the subject he teaches
Need to get on his good side. Ladies, sit in the front and trust me it will pay off. Go out of your way to be one of his favorites. He really cares about his students and great with getting back to you via email. TOUGH COURSE. 6 10-12 pg essays along with a tough midterm and final and a few quizzes. Be sure to study in advance
Snyder is legit the best Econ professor in the department. Yes, his lectures can get redundant, but he's brilliant and he focuses on theoretical economics rather than working with numbers, which is great at least for me. Don't skip class, laugh at his jokes, go to office hours occasionally, because he gives you his exams ahead of time.
I took every single class he's offered (6 times). He's easily the best professor I've had while at Bentley, and I'll certainly miss his classes. The material is extremely interesting, and his enthusiasm always drives the point home.
He knows what he's talking about and is very smart. However, the class has no structure, the first 20 minutes of class we go over the syllabus. Heavy reading and writing with high expectations for knowledge (2 books and a textbook assigned). Way too much work assigned to get done and doesn't teach as much as students teach themselves.
Professor Snyder's a great guy, but he doesn't teach any of what is on his exams. One midterm 80 MC and 2 essays, one final 80 MC and 3 essays. 6 papers over the entire semester and 2 quizzes. Grading criteria is extremely unclear, and Blackboard is obnoxious. Lectures are boring if you're not interested in economics, and you have to teach yourself
Funny and great guy. If he likes you and you take him for both 111 and 112 you;ll do well. Visit him outside of class. Just reading homework that he goes over in class but the tests make up so much of your grade. If you put it work studying for the midterm and final youll do well.
EC111 is fine. Midterm, final, project. EC112 is the most obnoxious class Ive ever taken. If you want to read about advanced economic theories and write 6 10-12 pg papers on them, good luck. Theyre barely comprehensible for a basic macro class and belong in an entirely different course for ECON MAJORS. Screw this class. Its absurd.
Has an entertaining lecture style, but can be repetitive. I enjoy how he presents the concepts in theoretical terms; other classes get involved in the nitty gritty. His 111 is less work than most, but test heavy. The zombie papers in 112 can be obnoxious during busy times, but they are just a summary paper of a chapter, not bad. Study the MC!!!!
Professor Snyder gives decent lectures, but they do not relate to anything you will be tested on. Will talk about the same topic for numerous classes in a row, and the info presented is only applicable to his essays. There are 6 10+ page papers that can be a drag. Uses a very weird combination of fonts, and navigating his blackboard is impossible.
Best professor I have taken at bentley! I took him for micro and macro and I would absolutely take him again for another econ course. Micro course grade is based solely on the midterm and final, which are both pretty long (midterm was separated into 2 days), but it is straight out of the textbook. Macro has a few papers along with exams.
He is one of the best professors here at Bentley. He's also one of the most eccentric. His lectures are truly like no lecture that I have ever been to before, but they're amazing. He warns you right up front that his mid-term is very hard, but he prepares you very very well for it, as long as you show up and listen. Currently taking him again.
He is a really nice guy who knows a lot. He loves to talk and be very theatrical but everything he talks about is the same thing from the past three classes and will talk about it in the next one too. Nothing is totally laid out and everything that he talks about will probably not be on your test. If you like Powerpoints don't take this class.
One of the best professors I've had!
He rambles on every class & teaches u nothing, u have to write 5-6 essays, take 2 quizzes that are just useless memorization, & then a midterm and final each w/ 80-100 multiple choice & 2 essays. Only perk is u don't have to pay attention in class. Have no idea what I'm going to get because his grading criteria is super unclear. would not recommend
He is one of the funniest professors ever. He truly cares and does his best to make the information fun and easy to understand. There are a good amount of papers, but they aren't hard to do. The midterm and final's multiple choice is hard, but the essay section is easy. Strongly recommend taking him. Show up, do the work, and you'll do well.
Funny guy but doesn't teach, be prepared to teach yourself. Blackboard issa mess, talks about the same thing that is not on the test for the whole sem.
Professor Snyder rambled on all class and repeated himself often. He struggled to get through the material and I ended up teaching myself. Exams rely too much on pure memorization so the material isnt actually learned. Final exam is very tough but the mid term is doable. I would steer clear of him.
Professor Snyder is a god among men. If you are lazy you will not get an A. However just listening to his lectures gaurantees a B. He provides access to the tests well ahead of time so you can plan your answers. His mid-term and final dates are flexible. It's a shame that he doesnt teach more electives. His classes are unforgettable.
Favorite professor at Bentley, gives you everything you need to learn for midterm/final on blackboard, theres no excuse to do poorly in his class, he is very pro student and wants everyone to do well. One of the only classes in Bentley I looked forward to attending, his lectures are very inspirational, engaging and funny. Rock on Herr Snyder.
Well, we're in the middle of a pandemic (covid-19) and he is constantly applying notifications instead of giving students a much-needed break from fear and anxiety. Telling us about a looming economic crash is tone deaf. Very elitist as well, I'd pass on him.
Snyder's EC111/112 classes are dumb easy. He gives you all the answers and background info you need to do well on the exams. If you just listen to him in class, you won't need to ever open the textbooks. His blackboard is super obnoxious but it's worth it for an easy B+ at least. Downside is, you wont really learn as much as other EC sections.
this dude's blackboard page gives me anxiety because it is so unorganized. he floods the page with excessive documents and links that no one really bothers reading. for the folders that he does organize, there are several documents with the same name with no description. it is difficult to find useful resources for his assignments because of this.
His zombie assignments for macro are painful and pointless, similar to anything else u do for this class. The professor repeats the same few topics every single class for the entire semester. Always uses the first 20 minutes of class to review the syllabus... super unproductive classes in general. I can tell u I learned nothing this semester.
Be cautious when choosing Synder for EC112 bc of his "zombie" essays but his "essays" are really just short responses to questions. He is a funny intellectual but has a tendency to repeat his lectures. His blackboard documents are highly disorganized, but he does provide everything you will need to learn. Just be prepared to use 'ctrl+f' a lot.
I had him Fall 2019, I left Bentley after that but he was def one of my favorite professors. He gives you a good amount of assignments and his lectures are long but he's one of those professors thats just good at his job. Plus he be funny and understanding if you miss some classes
Hes a nice guy who can be funny, but hes just not good at teaching. his blackboard is literally years old, completely unorganized, has 500 files/folder. He makes questionably racist and sexist remarks/jokes, even after 2020. his lectures are all over the place, and you end up either scewing yourself over for macro or teaching urself. Just avoid him
You often won't understand what he is saying. He goes on tangents about the topics he speaks about and makes understanding somewhat simple topics very hard and complex. The mid-term and final exam and absurd with 4 essays and a hundred multiple-choice. Will you learn about economics in this class? Yes. Would I recommend this prof? No chance.
He makes you write too much. Too many assignments, too little time.
Wow. Three huge papers all on a group of textbooks he didn't even seem to read. Didn't learn a single thing this entire class. Very disappointed. Zero valuable material was covered in lectures, and then he dumped the biggest final project I've ever seen on us. Fun guy. Not a good experience at all.
He's a fun guy, but he REALLY can't do online. He has every section under one blackboard, and will upload 300+ documents at a single time. He expects you to read 45 page documents for finals.. Between the 'big enchillada take home essay' and the 'gold star' i received on an exam, I have no idea what's going on. I either have an A or an D-... help..
This specific class section is the reason I switched from being an eco-fi major to finance major. The class was so unorganized and unecessarily tediously hard. My man posts like an entire book or hundreds of articles in blackboard and expects us to read them for literally single essay questions... and there are like 50 essay questons for the final.
Interesting guy but I'd stay away. Online format all you do is stare at the syllabus all class and listen to him talk about god knows what. Kinda funny and getting a decent grade is achievable, but didn't learn a single thing
This dude is still using the same blackboard from my class semesters ago and I still get LITERALLY 100s of notifications when he uploads literally thousands of documents in a single hour because he cant make a separate blackboard for every new semester and I cannot make the notifications stop.
The best professor I had during my time at Bentley. Professor Snyder was an excellent teacher for me across micro, macro and urban/regional economics. His courses also inspired me to pursue higher education and get a graduate degree. I have nothing but respect for this Professor and highly recommend his courses.
HOLY CRAP the amount of work he gives should be a crime. He must be a fool if he thinks that's how kids learn.
Prof. Snyder means well. This does not mean he isn't an absolutely insane person. First of all, don't expect to get any feedback of relevance to you. You ask him a specific question and it takes him 3 tries to answer it the way you need him to. Secondly, homework assignments and finals are insane. 40 annotated readings a semester, and 10 essays.
I hope you're seeing this professor. Please understand you are borderline malicious with the amount of work you give. It honestly shows how little you care because there is no way you are actually caring about reading every word in the billion essays you assign. There is way way way way way way too much content to handle let alone actually learn!
Professor Snyder is a nice guy don't get me wrong but his niceness does not overcome the horrifying amount of work he makes you do. There are countless essays for his class, not to mention how dense his exams are. Note this is a class everyone has to take, yet this man gives you over 100 questions of mc on the mid and final along with 5000 word ?'s
Professor Snyder is hilarious. That's about it. The amount of work he expects you to get done is unbelievable. To make matters worse, it's impossible to make sense of his BlackBoard. I highly recommend picking another professor for EC111 and EC112 unless you for some reason love doing an unbearable amount of work.
Unless you are truly passionate about Economics, don't take Snyder. The man is hilarious and welcomes the class with great excitement, but it doesn't make up for work. Midterms and Finals consist of 3 or more essays and 100 multiple-choice questions. Your self and lectures mostly learn textbooks are messy. Perusall is the worst
Snyder is such a hilarious and kind professor. Sure he is a great person, but the amount of work assigned in this class is preposterous tbf. Doing Perusall has consumed so much of my time and is so frustrating. Not to mention the midterm (haven't gotten to the final yet) that's 100+ MC Qs and 4 essays (1 is 5 pgs). It's too much in my opinion.
I think the class is fun to attend and I would definitely recommend taking his EC111. He's not a tough grader, and he doesn't give too much homework at all. Students need to study hard for the exam, especially a lot preparations on essay questions. But if you prepared and read all his materials in the folder you should be fine.
Snyder was super easy, especially if you know someone who has taken his class previously. He literally spoonfeeds you all the answers for your mid-term and final papers, he's such an easy grader, and his class is super easy to cheat, and he knows it. All the mc questions are online or he gives them to you ahead of time.
Professor Snyder is a great lecturer and always knows how to make class interesting. This class is test-heavy, with two relatively long take-home tests, however, they are pretty accessible.
The amount of work that Professor Snyder expects his students to complete throughout the semester is truly ridiculous. Moreover, his course material is far more confusing than any other macroeconomics class at Bentley. I don't think I retained a single piece of knowledge from Professor Snyder's class. Moral of the story: do NOT take this professor.
professor snyder is very easy if you work for it. not hard work, just a lot of time. he provides you with the exam ahead of time. but he makes you annotate the textbook, which takes a long time and can make or break your grade. do those and you'll be fine. i probably would've gotten an A had i done them.
he literally doesn't stop talking about the most random stuff that isn't economics. never again!
He can talk all day long. If you listen closely he repeats a lot of things, therefore, brutally boring lectures. His work is not hard just very lengthy and annoying
professor is very knowledgeable and very smart, brings good discussion into class, but his lectures are literally 80 minutes of pure talking, cares a lot about attendance, and communication. Do not skip his class without informing him of that. Overall it is a very interesting person but as a professor is a bit disorganized and messy
Very smart professor and his lectures are very interesting, but also very repetitive and boring. The deal breaker is his massive amount of homework. as a Freshman seminar class he gives me more homework than all my other classes. He bragged about 10 students dropping his class because of the homework coarse load.
If you care only about getting the grade, Professor is the best option, he makes it super easy to get a high grade, however you learn NOTHING! The exam is multiple choice and essays. Multiple choice is done as homework, and essays are given to in advance. So it is easy to do well. Assignments are time-consuming but he is very chill with extensions.
HW is all perusalls (online annotations) which r waste of time!! But thats the only hw other than essay test prep. Attendance not mandatory. His lectures are super random & hard to follow. Tests are 3 big essays & 100 mc (difficult but not impossible). Never gives clear grading instructions. Cool guy w cool stories just didn't learn a ton.
Super chill. Exams are fair, 100 MCQs and a couple essays but he gives you both ahead of time. Lectures all class but he's actually pretty funny. Perusall's are long but you get used to it. Manage your time on those and the smaller essays and you should be good. Incredibly flexible with extensions. Allows 3 absences. Take him, you won't be sorry.
Loved this professor! Amazing lectures which gives a nice spin on the usual economics. The lectures he gives will allow real world practicality and encourages you to look at things in an untraditional way. Reading was heavy, but the content he gives is excellent and learning stimulating. Would definitely take again. Strongly recommend!
Lots of lectures and he can get a little side tracked sometimes telling stories but they do help understand the concepts in a unique way. Decent amount of homework most weeks but none of it is difficult. Only 1 quiz and 1 simple project for the semester. Midterm and final are both shown and given access to prior to the exam date and are online.
Professor Snyder is a great guy and extremely knowledgable. He is definitely not the most organized professor, but his conversation-type lectures include hilarious stories and valuable learnings. He essentially walks you through the major essay assignments. Includes reading on Perusall and roughly 20 pages of Question Essays for midterm and final
Prof. Snyder is great, maybe not a top choice if you are going into econ, but if you need to get EC111 done for credit it's very brainless. There are weekly annotation hws on Perusal that get annoying but they're easy. Midterm was lengthy, but 80% of it you could do outside class. Almost no in class work, you can show up and zone out.
Talks on and on about nonsense the entire class. Also gives endless amounts of readings that you need to annotate each week, in addition to other assignments. Very time consuming and I would definitely not take him again.
Professor Snyder is a good guy, but not the professor to take if you want to get into economics. Lectures are hard to pay attention to. Lots of homework with annotations on Perusall and mc on McGraw Hill. I recommend going to office hours bc he'll definitely help you with assignments. Midterm and final is lengthy, but somewhat based on homework.
I did not learn one thing from this class. His lectures were not at all based around microeconomics and it was easy to get other things done in class. Perusall's were horrible and very time consuming to get perfect score, and the final and midterm were so long (a couple essays + multiple choice). Would not recommend.
Professor Snyder is one of the most interesting men I have ever met in my entire life. His lectures are dense and compacted with the vocabulary of an 18th century scholar who's only appreciation in life is microeconomics. I have never met someone so involved with the mundane topics of economics in my life. I would recommend for the wary.
Do not listen to negative reviews about this professor! Prof Snyder is one of the best at Bentley. The homework is long but a free 100 for 30% of your grade. His lectures are very engaging and interesting, and he also feeds you a lot of the answers to his midterm and final papers. Just pay attention! He truly cares about his students. GOAT
Lectures are incomprehensible as he constantly steers away from the topic to tell his own stories. There is an endless and repetitive workload, which I found unbearable and useless. His multiple choice tests were easy as they were based on HW questions, but he added a written portion which was always lengthy and hard to comprehend.
Best professor I've taken. He's so funny and the class is so easy. You can show up late, not show up at all, submit late work and it's fine. He's so chill and midterm is online. Actually the best.
You do learn from his class, but it isn't helpful for econ majors. What you learn helps when listening to politicians talk about the economy so you can understand what they say and for a basic understanding. He does a great job of covering the basics and making the memorable. He makes sure you know that what he teaches can't be taken on the nose.
Professor Snyder's lectures can be a bit scattered, but the coursework is manageable. Leveraging resources like the free textbook and unstuck study helped me stay on top of the workload. Overall, a solid class if you're willing to put in the effort.
Santa-looking guy that really cares for his students excellence. Although the lectures may get a bit boring or repetitive, he is passionate about his subject. Lots of little assignments along the way, but nothing too taxing, and he is flexible with due dates. Great guy, will give you tea and biscuits at his office hours.
He is a good guy and passionate about econ. Lectures can be long as he rambles, but he can be quite funny. There's a lot of reading from 2 textbooks but he's flexible about due dates, just ask. The midterm & final both worth 30%. They can be hard if you don't pay attention. Overall good guy but wouldn't recommend if you are going into economics.
Synder is genuinely one of the most brilliant human beings I've ever met. If you're econ major, interested in political econ, the environment, or want to talk career advice, he's the man. Some complain his lectures are boring, but not many professors can offer tons relevant wisdom as Synder does. If you plan to pursue econ, take a Synder class.
Great professor. Very old school but everything is online. He gives the essay prompts for midterm and final around 2 weeks in advance. MCQ for the midterm and final comes right from the homework. Lots of homework, it isn't hard but just time consuming. Only tests during the year was the midterm and final, and one small quiz within the first month.
Be cautious with Professor Snyder's class. He's disorganized, with a Brightspace that's hard to navigate and unclear instructions on assignments. His exams often don't align with class material, and his take-home essays are just a list of questions. The homework (Perusall) is excessive. Avoid if possible.
There is an insane amount of work for this class, but Snyder knows that and doesn't expect you to do all of it. He is probably one of the smartest professors at Bentley. He is very passionate about economics and teaches this class as if everyone is an economics major. If you are willing to step up and do the work, I'd say he is a good option.
One of the worst professors I've had at Bentley so far. So many useless perussals due every couple days. 100 MC and Essays during an exam block after quite literally not being taught anything useful the entire semester. If you care about your grades and sanity do not take him. He acts as if we should already know everything about macro before class
Snyder is a good guy. HOWEVER, I learned NOTHING in this class. Lectures did not align with assignments. Perusals were the worst thing I've ever had to do (useless and RIDICULOUS amount of them). 2 quizzes not even included in final grade. Online midterm, final was PAPER and Snyder did not tell ANYONE until we walked in his class to take the exam.
Avoid like the plague!!!
exams are long; crazy amounts of questions but doable at the end of the day. lectures are very boring. if you're not an econ major take this guy because you wont really learn anything of value. There is also a ton of hw
Very funny and nice professor. Gives so many readings that it's hard to actually read them all. I didn't learn much in the class at all. I would take another professor if you can.
