I had him in the fall of 2004.He was my Anatomy&Physiology lab professor. He was a ray of sunshine.A young man with a smile, good humor, great attitude, funny guy, very knowledgeable, easy to explain and help, fair person,he's QCC's new rising star! Take him!
Great professor. Really knows his stuff, and he breaks it down to make it understandable. He'll allow you to record his lectures if you cant keep up. Lectures move at a fast pace, but there's a ton of material to cover. Exams are straightforward and from the notes. Really approachable too!
He is a veterinarian. But he knows also about the human body. He's an okay teacher but i wouldnt take him again. His tests are not so easy. He usually puts a few questions that are not on the Lab Sheet that the department gives you.
He's not a veterinarian......
I think he is one of the best teachers I've ever had at QCC... I have taken many classes and I have never learned more. He's a very intelligent man,who is chipper and so freakin' happy when he teaches. He puts me in a better mood. HE'S JUST GREAT! I hope to see more teachers like him. He's the man!!
Fabulous teacher!! He's such a nice man. He's so helpful and will stay after class to help you if you need him to. I had him in bio-301 lab and made sure I had him again for 302. This teacher is funny& kind.He gives great notes & only tests you on his notes. If you do badly in his class its ur fault
i think he is a good teacher. Everything is explained good and the test are great
u will get good grades on the exams as long as u take all the notes and pay attention. his tests r straight forward-always from the notes-class is very interesting
best teacher for bio. very interesting class-examz r ez and from the notes. loved his class and i think i am becoming a bio freak-lolz
GREAT TEACHER! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! All u have 2 do is LISTEN, TAKE GOOD NOTES, and STUDY THEM...thats it! tests r STRAIGHT from his notes. if he didnt say it..its NOT in the tests. Answers questions, repeats himelf if necessary, fun, entertaining, knows his stuff, makes it intresting and easy 2 follow. doesnt expect the impossible like some teacher
I loved this professor. He's always willing to help out a student. If you have any questions he will stay after class to help you, and he doesn't rush you out of class. I will truly miss him. I wish he could teach other professors how to teach as effectively as he does. He's truly an asset to QCC.Anyone who needs to take a bio class should take him
Awesome teacher, straight up. Commited to what he does and always willing to help you out. Very good at explaining hard concepts in easy ways and gives great examples. One of the best, if not, THE best, teacher I ever had.
Mr. Mader is one of the best teachers I have taken in my life, he is so clear gives visual images and makes difficult concepts easy!! all the info for the test is from your notes! He is a genius who actually rubs off on you I wish he taught in the summer..well if your planning on becoming a nurse take him and study hard!!
This professor has made my first lab course at QCC a memorable one. He is definitely committed to his job and, despite the difficulty of Anatomy and Physiology, Dr. Mader does everything he can possibly do to help you. If you end up doing poorly in his class, it's most likely because YOU didn't make the effort.
Prof. Mader is one of the best biology professors in Qcc. I recommend him to everyone who is interested in Biology. His teaching style is different and he makes class time fun. His exams come right out of the notes and class is very interesting. I took him for Bio 201, 202 , 301 and 302. If you do the work and take good notes then its an ez A.
He is an excellent lab teacher, and a great lecture teacher this year. He will stay and help you until you get it. He breaks everything down in an understandable way. If that person said he sucked it was because they never tried to help themself. He stays after class if you need it.One of the best
he STAYS in the lab to explain every models that you have questions with and he spent time to illurstrate details to help you to understand. A teacher really has compassion. He is the BEST
great professor and person always willing to give that extra push to help his students acheive their highest potentials..I would consider him an excellent choice for a&p classes!!
Prof. Mader, he is a GREAT A&P teacher, he explains everything clearly. If you really want to learn and at same time get A, u should TAKE HIM! his Test is straight from the Notes, so if u take good notes and study them u should have no problem. TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
greatest teacher ever! always there to help you and won't give up until you get it! wouldn't even think of taking anyone else for anatomy! Love him!
Proffessor Mader is the best!!!! I coudnt ask for a more easy going one as he was... He get straight to the point with his lectures... but in order to past his test U HAVE TO STUDY HIS NOTES.. It was great having him
easy going
Professor Mader is a very clear and helpful teacher! His tests come straight from his notes, memorize them and you will do great. He is harder for lab, as he often puts on one or two really tricky questions on it. You absolutly do not need to read the book for his tests, but he does not teach everything you need to know for the cumulative final.
he very easy to understand the material is well taught. you dont need to read the book. his testes are easy once you study
Amazing teacher! I understand him as he teaches and find it easy to study the notes he gives. Answers all questions and seems to be very nice to all his students. I really can't say enough nice things about the way he teaches- hes a perfect, clear, helpful teacher who explaines everything and avoids useless details.
very good teacher as long as you study his notes and know them well you will get on all his tests at least in the 90's. he explains the material very well. woudn't even consider another professor for A@P
The IDEAL lecturer! I had him for both lab and lecture...WONDERFUL! Record his lectures. his exams are word for word from his notes. i for all 90s without reading the book.
He's best Prof ever
He is the best A&P lecture professor i had, i wish i took him for 301. He is very clear and his exams come straight from his notes, what more can you ask for!I highly recommend him!
Breaks everything down so subject doesn't seem overwhelming. Extremely clear on explanations, never a dull lecture. Taping class is a must.
Mader is the best proffesor for lecture, never missed a day, loved his class and looked farward going there. He has fair exams but it's from the notes. Highly recommend him, take him you won't be sorry, just study everyday for 3 hours & u'll be more then fine. He has rat bastared q's on the exam.
Best teacher ever. Everything was interesting in his class. His notes are very clear and his tests are based on what lectures to you. I never opened the book and I got a B+. Would've gotten an A but lab brought me down. Take him! You won't be sorry.
GREAT TEACHER, BUT HARD AS HELL!; YOU LEARN ALOT, JUST DONT SLACK OFF, VERY INTERESTING PROFF, WOULD RECOMMEND
I took both A/P 1 & 2 with this prof. He is an awesome prof. Make sure you have a recorder from the very first day because he dictates the notes so that you can fill out the blanks, read only his notes, DON'T BUY THE BOOK because the tests are EXACTLY from his notes. Wouldn't recommend him for lab though because he doesn't go over the models in lab
I am grateful to have been taught by Dr. Mader (302 Lecture). He explains difficult concepts by using analogies. His tests are not tricky, but he is particular and very detail-oriented. The man is brilliant, very helpful, and fair. I hope to be as great of a teacher as he is. He is truly an asset to QCC! -A.L.
as funny as any scientist can get. knows his stuff, lots of notes, hard in lab because he doesn't walk you through anything. it's self learning in lab, everything I've learned in lab, I learned in the learning center. everything is FAIR GAME for this prof, his favorite saying. make sure you clear EVERYTHING and dont assume it wont be on the exam.
THIS PROFESSOR IS HELPFUL , IF YOU MISSED AN EXAM , HE WILL LET YOU MAKE IT UP ONLY ONE !!!!! HE RELIES TOO MUCH OVER HIS NOTES AND FORGET ABOUT THE FINAL EXAM YOU WILL NEED THE TEXTBOOK FOR THE FINAL. BUT DONT NEED IT FOR THE CLASS. OVERALL HE IS OK BU TI WILL NEVER TAKE HIM BACK.
Awesome guy! Test straight from notes. A man of his word. Funny at times. Let's you take pictures of his notes! Grateful that i got him because A&P is NOT easy but he tries his damnest to make it. (PS. get a recorder!!!)
Dr.Mader is very engaging just record the class and read your notes from class. He was available during office hours to clarify any topic that was hard to comprehend. I recommend him to any student about to take A&P
Best Prof I have had so far. Explains everything thoroughly and really wants students to do well and understand material. He allows you to take pics of his notes so the tests are from there. Also no need for text book. He creates the cumulative final so you know you will do well on that as well
Dr. Mader was awesome! I loved his style of teaching. Practically no textbook use, all from his notes. You'll do a lot of writing in class, but it's completely worth it. He teaches so great and so interesting that you'll retain all the information needed. There will be a lot to review for exams, but it is A&P II after all.
He gets his questions from the Chinese medical system. The guy is really smart and a class A jerk. Pretty useless when you have questions. Kind of glad to be done with this clown.
Prof. Mader is great at teaching. Lectures are very well explained. He talks extremely fast, recording his lectures is very useful. His tests are directly from his notes, but his tests are very hard and tricky. You don't need a book for his class.
Dont like his teaching method. VERY FAST. The course is hard obviously but I just didn't like him
One of the best professor I've ever taken in QCC. He is very intellectual and light heartily comical at times which keeps his lessons engaging. Always open to questions and explains areas of confusion with precision. He is a great professor in all aspects and it was a pleasure being his student.
BI 301 requires a lot of studying and a lot of dedication. Professor Mader is the most helpful professor I have ever had. He is willing to help you during class or even during his office hours. He lets you see his lecture notes and even allows you to record his lecture. All exams are based off of his notes so pay attention, take notes, & study!
He is very dedicated and will go above and beyond if you need it. There is no "easy A" for this course so don't expect it but He made it much easier to understand. There was no "hand holding" either if you want to learn the topic you have to drive right it this is how he teaches but he is one of the best. Will be taking him for Bio 302
Professor Mader is one of the most chill professor at QCC. His exams are pulled DIRECTLY from this lecture which he graciously lets you record just don't mess up the pages. He is a great lecturer with some memorable moments. He tries to simplify to the basics to the important stuff. I encourage anyone to take him. Study smart n u will do great!
He's a great professor for lab but I did study a lot of the stuff on my own or with my partners after school hours. Keep asking him questions, never feel shy about it. His exams are pretty straight forward, 1 or 2 tricky questions on them. Take all the notes down that he rights on the board!
Record his lectures!! His exams are based soley off his lectures so write as much notes as you can. He's really great; the analogies he uses in attempt to get you to remember the complex topis are creative. You're allowed to take pictures of his lesson plan notes which also helps and he offers a lot of office hour time for extra help and questions
Such an amazing professor just study his notes you'll be fine! His lectures are so clear and he does great examples as well to make you understand ! Defintley take him
Professor Mader is actually a very nice person. BUT he needs to have a better teaching method. His exams are straight forward but not helpful when he cant teach. The WHOLE class would record this guy all cause he cant speak slow. you cant take good notes and have to basically go home and listen to his recordings for 12+ hours.
either you love him or hate him... all the same must study all corse material like your life depends on it.
I took Bio 302 Lecture with Professor Mader last semester (Spring 2016). GOOD:: His lectures are amazing. He explains everything very clear, and he makes the class very fun. His exams (4) are straight from his notes. No need to read the textbook, plus he lets you take pictures of his notes. BAD: HARSH GRADER. He doesn't curve anything!!!
Literally the best professor in QCC he is such an actor and acts out hard subjects so you can understand.. His exams are from his notes and he helps in office hours. THE BEST!!
One word: AMAZING. He broke down such complex topics into plain english. His analogies were life-saving. PLEASE invest in a recorder and take detailed notes since his exams are strictly from his lecture. You do not need your textbook at all. I'd have gotten an A in this class if it weren't for lab bringing me down :/
Excellent professor. Allows you to record lecture. Show up, pay attention, take good notes and you're good. No need for text book, notes are based off of his lectures ONLY.
Excellent. If you have a chance to take him, please do!
I loved him!! Until you start losing 10-15 points on his exams! He is the only lab professor at qcc who takes points off for LITTLE SPELLING ERRORS like writing an A instead of O , or adding two T or some other dumb mistake! It adds up in the end and what originally was a 95% test score is now a 80.5 !! Not a bad review, he is amazing professor
Took him for bio 301 and 302. For 301 he's good. But for 302 he's really tough. He talks so quick that I didn't even understand him when I recorded him. He allows to take pics of his notes which the test is based on but his handwriting is chicken scratch. Want a better grade to impress nursing program? Don't take him and find a better professor.
Luv Professor Mader. Ask tons of questions in class for lab. The exams are identical to what ur identifying. Go to his office hours, sooo helpful. He genuinely cares about his students and goes above and beyond. Pay attending to his lecture in lab. Take advantage of tutoring/access to models. You can get an A, but you have to put effort. no regrets
Makes the toughest course A&P fun to learn. Lectures based on his notes. Still don't have any idea how does he make questions for exams.
Professor Mader speaks very fast. Terrible choice for Nursing or PA program. Takes off petty points for misspelling, that will bring your score down from 90 to an 80. Definitely not a good choice. Don't pick him. He does however care about his students, yea right, he let's nothing get past him and will grade harshly. Beware
He speaks very fast, you can't even understand the recordings for lecture (that's how fast he speaks) do not bother writing notes because it will feel like a race. If you are a person with questions forget it, he wants to cover so much in class that your questions would slow him down. Long lectures no breaks! want nursing don't take him.
If you are planning to join nursing prog def should take him ! I had him for both lec and lab. For lecture u just need to study from his note and understand. He gives the best advise if you are stress, just talk to him. In lab eventhough he might be strict with spelling ( Trust me all prof for bio are strict at spelling). If u can take him !!!!
Take notes and even if you think those notes are impeccable TAKE AND ORGANIZE THEM EVEN BETTER. All exams based off in class lectures. Allowed to audio record lecture which is worth a shot if you miss anything. Test can appear to have tricky questions because he insists you know everything without error. Tough material STUDY!! Take a break STUDY!!
Amazing lecture and lab professor. He is really passionate and quirky and makes A&P fun. Even though it is a tough subject he makes this course very enjoyable and explains the material very clearly. Take advantage of his notes and his office hours, he is the best A&P professor in QCC
One of the best Anatomy and Physiology professor. He is accessible after class .He wants you to succeed and encourages you to ask as many questions as possible. BIO 301 and 302 are not easy courses. They require discipline, consistency(at least 2 hours a day of studying). You can't get a satisfactory grade if you procrastinate.
There is no doubt that Dr. Mader is an awesome lecturer! He engages you like no other. But I will admit, I studied for about an hour a day, and scored in the 70's on every exam! His exams are no joke, even after answering all his review questions and having a 3.5GPA they were extremely difficult! I go to CCNY, and his exams are beyond college level
Let me start by saying I am not a smart student. I have to try REALLY damn hard to get a good grade and understand things. With that being said, I got an A in his class and this is how. Study HIS, and I said HIS notes. Review yours, but look at HIS notes and compare. That's literally how I I stayed afloat. Also STUDY smart by READING HIS NOTES!
I honestly don't think it gets better than Bryn Mader. He was an absolutely amazing professor. Because of him, I fell in love with anatomy all over again. I enjoyed every single second of his lectures. Study from his notes exactly for the exams and you should be good to go. I can't say enough good things about this man. He was that great.
AMAZING PROFESSOR
Hes a good professor but he talks pretty fast. Listen you wont pass the tests if you dont study, he incorporates your everyday life experiences and includes them in his texts, he makes it easy to learn. Study for the exams and youll be fine. Just listen to his explanation and youll do great
He's funny and great at explaining the subject. He's more old school and doesnt like to use videos and online sources. But hes very willing to repeat explanations if you dont understand something. Hes also available outside of class. Definitely recommend him! One of the best lecturers
He is a good 302 lab prof and very nice. However 302 is a class that requires a lot of independent studying and prof Mader is not going to spend time reviewing everything on the tests YOU have to study them yourself, but he is always willing to come over and answer any question. His tests are fair but you have to know ur spelling! He's great tho !
Honestly, Prof. Maders class is extremely difficult. He doesn't teach you he expects you to go home learning on your own and teach yourself. It's very hard because some people understand more when the professor explains to the class. His tests are ridiculous. Spelling counts 100%. And he doesn't give review slides or go over material
Professor mader isn't the best teacher. He doesn't teach the class and expects you to Learn on your own by going home and use google and YouTube to help you memorize term names. His tests are difficult. Spelling counts. If your learning style is when the professor teaches, this is not the professor you want.
Prof. Mader is an ok teacher. He doesn't really explain things well and expects you to use google. Spelling counts which is where you will lose most of the points on the test.
Don't waste your time with this professor. He talks too fast. Expects you to study on your own during the entire class. Whatever you study will be a chance that won't be on the exam. Spelling definitely counts. You mispelled a few words, you can go from a 100 to a 70 instantly.
Professor Mader is by far the best anatomy instructor I have taken. He provides clear explanations that can easily be connected to your daily life. 302 is a difficult course to begin with but if you take really good notes during his lectures, and simplify them/better them you would do good on his exams. He really made the semester worth it.
Brilliant professor! Best 302 professor. Physiology is not easy and Dr Mader kept the class engaged by using relatable everyday life. If one cant make up his notes, just record or ask as his office is always open for present and past students. His exams are clear and straight from his notes so an A is achievable. Wish he taught more sciences.
Legend! Took him for both lab and lec, would highly recommend students to do so as it gives you a better understanding. Spellcheck! You are given a course outline in the begnning of the semester use it for research and you will pass. Dr Mader is very informative, comes in handy if you are seeking a career within the medical field. Ask him questions!
no homework, its a do it yourself type of class. he records lectures that you can listen to every week. honestly enjoyed his way of teaching. but be aware he does NOT offer any extra credit so you have to do good on his exams.
Professor Mader is one of the best professor that I have take. I took him for A&P 2 lab. He give us all the information we need to know. Make the information more simple to understand. I would definitively recommend this professor.
Super well-spoken, easy-going, and very understanding. He is friendly and cracks jokes here and there which helps to lighten the mood. I was having trouble with an online virtual lab and my professor shared his screen and did the exercise with me. Def recommend this professor!
he is very nice. he explains every well. HOWEVER.. he gives the most difficult exams ever!!! he will ask a question and give answers that all can be the answer. smh! even though its online its the worst. very nice man but the test is horrible
I had this man for lab and let me say he was such a GEM. He is such a well spoken man and his test are fairly easy if you study! He is very straightforward to the point. I was having a hard time with other professors but I was glad to be in his class !
I wish this professor taught bio311. The way he explains complex topics is so clear. Hes helpful, nice, compassionate, & the type of professor youd want in every class. Rarely gives hw. Tests are straight from the lectures!
I took Professor Mader for lecture. He was so generous that he gave us his personal notes to study from. There were recorded lectures that we were required to watch. This class was mostly asynchronous. However, the recorded lectures were 2-3 hours long. He has a good sense of humor and he makes anatomy and physiology fun.
He's a good professor however the test were extremely difficult 50 questions all fill in the answer and spelling counts!! Besides that he's very entertaining and down to earth.
I'm currently taking this professor and he's amazing! He always keeps the class engaged with his humor. He makes A&P interesting and understandable. He's humble and will never make you feel bad for asking any questions. Exams can be a bit difficult since they're all fill-ins, but that shouldn't be a problem if you're organized and study.
DO NOT PICK HIM! He literally speaks very fast and goes ahead of the class, Tests are very tough because the questions kind of put tricks in you. He would literally rush throughout the whole class which seems extreme. I have trouble understanding his questions which makes you not understand the material. Would not recommend!
DO NOT PICK HIM! because he talks very fast, tests are extremely tough and skips from one thing to another which is just complete nonsense. If you think of picking him, DO NOT! Extremely tough lectures which is just unpleasant. Would not recommend! Do not think of taking him because you will waste your time in this class.
Professor Mader was an amazing teacher and made the lectures enjoyable with his humor and his knowledge on the subject matter. He clearly knows his material and the exams all came from his notes and lectures. So make sure to record or pay attention in class. I would thoroughly recommend.
I'm pretty sure the previous (3) 1-star ratings are from the same person. Regardless, don't listen to him/her because Dr. Mader is an exceptional professor. He has an amazing sense of humor and makes lab pass really quickly because it's so enjoyable. My lab partners and I gained a great deal of knowledge from this class.
Dr. Mader is an excellent professor. Tests are straight from his lecture notes. I definitely recommend him.
BestProf for BIO302. No regrets. Eventho he speaks lil bit fast during in-person lecture, however on Connecttextbook, he uploads all his recorded lecs which helped me a lot. I usually record his in-person lec onphone just incase. Attendance matters only during the 1st month. 50 MCQ on exam. Total 4exams. U gotta put in the work to get good grades!
The ppl who says he is not a good Prof does not really study but complain about it. How are you gonna pass if you are not studying. Textbook required for lab but in lec, only taught in class which covers everything comes in exam. He is funny & teaches a hard topic in a simple way. He is really helpful outside of class, go to his office hours!!!
He is good for Bio lec but I think he is a tough grader in lab, because of the spellings incorrect he would literally cut marks so, you better take Sharon Ellerton for Bio Lab Professor.
The teacher you'd want for AP2. Literally everything he says is fair game and is the only thing you are responsible for on the tests. No need to open a textbook. Go to class, take notes on what he says and you'll be golden for the tests. Wish I had him for every class. He is also very clear in his speaking which is great.
Teaching thoroughly and diligently.
Professor Mader is an exceptional gift from God. I have taken over 60 college credits but have never met his kind.He is remarkably brilliant at teaching. He leaves no gaps as he lectures and gives all the details that one needs to understand every topic. You have to experience him personally to see his brilliance on display.
This prof is super nit-picky about spelling during his exams. Will take pts off. He wants you to know more about lecture than the actual lab. Cool guy but should just focus more on the lab aspect. Also he does not allow you to record videos of him explaining. He wants you to learn on the models yourself.
This professor is very difficult and is very picky with how he grades the exams. He takes off points for spelling and if he cannot read your writing. This professor does not use blackboard and is very specific with what materials is on his exams. Be prepared for his "Contract". Basically watch his recorded lectures on connect and teach yourself
Do not take this professor. He is nice but he is not fair. I am dropping this class because he is rushing through the semester.
This class is already very difficult and this professor does not make it any better. DO NOT TAKE HIM! YOU WILL REGRET IT!
I enjoyed having Professor Mader teach A&P II; it saddens my heart to see bad comments about his lecture because he cares about his students. His class is straightforward; read his notes&watch his videos on connect! If you study them and pay attention to the small details, the tests are fair game.
Professor Mader is caring and responding to email & questions promptly. Read his notes carefully and listen to his recording lectures as well. Review sheets from Professor Mader are helpful. Ask him questions and you will gain lots of knowledge.
He is great at teaching. He does not uses powerpoints and the test are a little hard. However, whenever he teaches, everything is clear. I recommend ya'll to take good notes, always go to his class and review his notes to pass all the exams. Other than that you'll do fine!
He's a good guy but how he teaches is kinda difficult
He used to have power point, but now he just talks and write everything on the board and expects us to record everything
This prof, very very simple there are no slides for lecture , whatever he teaches , you will see in exam . he really cares about student and never cheat in class , if you do , it will be serious problem . you have take a good notes og whatever he teaches for lab, he provides a lot of images to clear the concepts
Without his recorded videos for the lecture, I would have never done so well on the exams. These videos allowed me to study 3 days before the exam and still understand the materials. The best part was that he added one point to our final grade. He also responded to emails quickly. In fact there was a time when he responded to my email at 2 A.M. !
I had Professor Mader for BI301lab of 2024 fall semester and BI302 and BI302lab of spring 2025. Probably the best professor i have had in A&P. Very knowledgeable, funny, and makes his classes interesting. I've learned an awful lot from him. Do yourself a favor and take his A&P classes. you won't regret it.
Attend his class, take good notes, and pay attention. Study his notes and video lecture along with his study outline, and you will get an easy A. Whatever he teaches in class is what comes for the exam. He makes this class very easy.
