Took this class online, & he was by far the BEST prof I have ever taken! Directions very clear,& he will go out of his way to help if you need it. Enjoys geog & his teaching methods are not traditional which makes it really interesting. He is more interested in us learning about the world around us rather than everything written in the textbook.

This was a very fun class!!

One the best teachers ive ever had! he teaches things that are important for everyones daily lives, very into this subject & is open minded! Easiest class ever! You wont want to skip his class !

Prof B is very dedicated to geography, it reflects in the class. But, he was very ONLINE orientated. Which was unexpected. This was not a lecture type class, and alot of the work was done on webct. Has alot of OUTSIDE CAMPUS projects and tasks, which can be difficult for some student to comply with.

Good teacher, makes the class interesting, but you do need to do a bit of work and study for the test and quizes, but i enjoyed his class very much before i had to drop

Mr.Buchanan is very passionate about geography, the only thing is that he is extremely boring, I personally dont like geography. The quizzes and test were straight forward and easy (you have to study!!). But overall he was good, i ended up with an A.

Buck is AWESOME. My previous geog classes were basically "coloring 101" & his was a big change. I wish more profs genuinely cared about their subject & students like him. Class is interesting; he can make anything geography related (though he can talk a LOT). If you're interested or not in something let him know. He will cater to student interests.

He is a nice guy but talks about key-west and American airlines too much. And he touches his face too much.

Good teacher, gets on his soap box a lot though. I really didn't care/try that hard in the class and I got a B. Gotta learn all the map stuff and you'll do fine.

Very good teacher. He knows Geography inside and out! Gives lots of extra credit! Class is pretty easy! You will have to learn the World Map!!!

Mr. Buchanan is a good story teller. His class is very interesting, but when it comes to learning what should be on the test, it is minimal. It is very important to learn the maps, but also you MUST read the chapters for the test.

I took his class online. He was awesome. Just read the chapters, study the maps, participate in discussions, and you'll make an "A". I highly recommend this teacher.

Very enthusiastic and passionate about what he teaches. Didn't really need the book just a good map. Drifts off subject, a lot. Nonetheless a very good teacher, who has insights on a lot of cool stuff.

Awesome teacher! Loved his class... very interesting! You will learn something new everyday! You watch like 5 you tubes videos a day!!! Just study for his map quizzes and do the reviews for the test!

You actually have to work to get an A in this class. For the tests, YOU DO NOT NEED TO READ ALL THE CHAPTERS IN THE BOOK. All I did was study the study guides and I made a 98 and 99 on the tests. The online games REALLY helped me with the map quizzes. Mr. Buchanan is more than willing to answer any questions and help you along the way.

Buchanan is very into the subject so it makes the class more interesting; he also gives advice on being college students..the only thing is that he is sometimes 15 or 20 minutes late and I don't like that because we go behind schedule. there are two essays and map quizzes:be sure to study the maps and do any x/c.

where do i start. he doesnt review for test! he expects you to know everything in the book but doesnt teach at all in class. he just talks and talks and talks about UNNECESSARY things!! avoid him if you can

All you need to do to secure an A is memorize where places are on a map (there is a word bank) and the review (which is the similar to test)Drifts off subject (if there is a subject which mostly theres not) everyday. Guarantee. Easy going guy who loves Geography and shares really cool stuff about the world.

One of the most amazing professors you can encounter. I took his class in study abroad 2010 and I loved it! I love his teachings, and will never get tired of them. He taught me that it is important to learn maps, not memorize them-which is very different and important!! For those who are passionate about geography.. it is worth every penny! :)

I took his Geography class in the Study Abroad progam this summer. He is very enthusiastic about geography and is very knowledgable about many things. He tends to wander a bit off subject at times, but it is usually related. If you are struggling, he is more than willing to help. I highly recommend his class.

if you don't like having to present - DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS. he irritated me with how he would always talk about the final project and didn't fully give us the actual assignment until the month the project was due. he is very understanding and passionate about what he talks about but very unorganized in how he conducts the class.

Great class, very informative and interesting. He talks about the places he's been and how it relates to us. My most enjoyable class this year. He sees the bigger part of education and teaches in a way that doesn't just put info in your short term, but in the long term. If you just show up to class and try... you can be successful.

This Professor is AWESOME!! he completely changed my out look on my career goals. and how to view life through geography. absolutely take him! I loved his class so much I re toke his class in italy for Study Abroad

He is a great guy really helpful and passionate for geography. you do i have to study and read the text, its not hard just do your work and you will be fine. i highly recommend if you are interested in geography.

I was excited about taking his class until I actually got in it. After two weeks of class we had our first quiz with little to none of the material being taught in class!Class time is filled with his personal stories which would be interesting if they pertained to the chapters for tests. He has NO concept of time and expects ALOT!!! DROPPED...

There is no doubt Professor Buchanan is passionate about the world.The problem is most of the things discussed in class are not relevant to test or projects. He gets off the subject pretty quick and often.He also never seemed to mind that most of the class was unengaged due to it.He's a cool guy just be prepared to teach yourself!!!

Mr. Buchanan is a great teacher and is very passionate about the subject he teaches. He does go off topic a bit in class but his discussions are very interesting. Be prepared to take lots of map quizzes and study on your own.

Professor Buchanan is someone who I would gladly call a professor. He teaches with passion in his heart, and he really brings out the interesting things in World Geography. I highly recommend you NOT to take this if you're looking for an easy class, because it actually takes some brains. If you pay attention and STUDY, you'll find it somewhat fun!

I took this class online and Mr. Buchanan seemed to be passionate about history. We had quizzes and exams online and our final was to be done at school. We had to do journals and assignments which were very easy you just had to complete all the requirements. I got an A, BUT you really had to study a lot.

Really passionate about World Geography!Tells stories about the places he has been to, he shows cool videos and OPENS YOUR MIND ABOUT THE WORLD. If you can’t handle thinking outside your own world don’t take him.Test are not hard, yes you have to study the world map and terms. He provides online websites to help you study the maps and the terms.

Tests require you to be familiar with the book. Other assignments are open to interpretation to exercise your brain. The final is the only map work for the entire course. You are given a LOT of study time for the Final. He gets backed up towards the middle of the course, but he will catch up with his grading.

He has a passion for what he teaches and great insight. He really opens your eyes. Tells a lot of personal stories but what better way to learn geography? Not like you can stare at a map all day. Loved the class and fair grader.

He was my FAVORITE professor. His way of teaching is so different than other professors. I wish he taught all of my classes. I was able to learn SO much from him. He is very passionate world geography and it is so great to have someone teach you about something that they truly love. You definitely do have to study for the map quizzes though.

Had I remembered the due dates on a few of the assignments and journal entries I would have done fine. Fairly simple, quizzes, journals, and a few assignments. START STUDYING FOR THE FINAL NOW!!! The final is the US and WORLD maps. LEARN THE ENTIRE THING!!! I wish I had opened that file at the start of the semester rather than the end.

Hard class! Journals every week and he is tough on grading! Make sure u keep up with due dates and participate.

Although this class was easy through out the sememster, the final was BRUTAL!!! It is a map of the United States and a map of the world and 200 random places you must know!! We never learned any of it in class. The final was not about anything pertaining to contemporary geography!!

Really cool guy, it's very obvious that this guy likes what he does. If you need to know what a certain landscape looks like, he'll jump through flaming hoops just to make sure you get the info. The class itself is really intriguing, even if you don't have a passing interest in geography.
