Bud has such creative ideas. I wish I had more teachers like him. He makes it fun to learn.

Bud creates a classroom environment that is relaxing. While teaching you how to do your work he lets you put your own creative spin on it. He relates every situation with one that will make you laugh and understand.
Prior to taking this class I did not like English, dreaded having to take this course. Mr. Kanyo has thrown every sterotype of English teachers I had out the window. He encourages everyone to create and develop their own opinions and ideas. He creates an environment very conductive to learning.
He made english fun and made us think not just memorize
Even though, the class was early in the morning. I didnt miss it once. Because I didnt want to miss Bud's stories. He has one for everything.
He was very helpful and made even the most complicated things make sense.
Our class is hard. We have to deal with difficult ideas and read hard essays. That part sucks, but Bud makes it better. He explains things in fun and understandable ways! He has really helped me see things in a new way. Anyone looking for an intelligent, fun, helpful instructor should take him!!
Bud is smart. He connects everything we are learning to outside ideas. He teaches us not just English, but what is happening in the world. I'd take him again.
makes class fun
He's a really crazy but honest guy who teaches very well.Continue teaching "BUDDY"
Bud was a great teacher I learned alot. Keep teachen BUD
Bud Is a very good teacher. He really knows evey thing he teaches. As well as he wants to see you pass the class. Bud you were great this year keep teaching here and you will see me again for sure.
Bud you are an excellent teacher and very helpful. You try hard to make sure the students understand what you are teaching which is very helpful. If a stundent has a question you will explain it till they understand. THANK YOU!
Bud is an very hardcore man and this is an good for me and made me realize that I have to put an postive affective and work very hard. To get an excellent grade that I wanted. I thank him VERY MUCH FOR BEING HIMSELF.
wish you taught math calss also.
AWESOME!!!!!!
very good teacher.
Terrible teacher. Thinks he knows what he is talking about but is completely biased on everything.
Bud is not very helpful and thinks everything should go his way or no way. He also does not value students opinions.
All Bud does is value student opinions. He values student opinions most of all. He constantly asks us what we think. He teaches us stuff and then tells us we don't have to agree. We do have to think about it though. He values our ideas.
I've listened to Bud and heard his stories, and I've never heard him say I or anyone else in the class is wrong. I've seen him wait for us to comment, but only me and like 1 other person in the room bothers, so I don't see how you can blame him for not respecting our opinions when you don't even share yours!!!!! ARG!
Very easy going. Expects you to do your work but is still fair. He listens and respects all students. Encourages them to think for themselves.
Not an easy class. Lots of work to do. But he really is pretty cool. Very philosophical about stuff. Tough, but fair. I'd take him again.
Bud is a GREAT teacher, I had him for ENG 110 and 111!! He really is there for his students if they need some help with their papers. If I could take another class with him I would!!
Bud is AWESOME, he highly encourages free thinking. I love a professor that can make writing essays seem cool. When he walked in the door the first day of class, I was a bit unsure what I was doing there, but with in five minutes Bud had me glad to be there. I've transferred to another school now, trust me professors like Bud are rare.
Bud had high expectations, but was very helpful in getting you there!
I Loved this class. It requires a ton of time and effort but Bud makes you see the pain of growth is worth it. The concepts are deep at times and hard to truly grasp but if you are willing to put in the effort you will pass and have learned something along the way. Bud is an exceptional professor, even if he is a smart bumm..hehe Take him if you can
Thank you man. I may not have shown it, but I heard you. I didn't expect it, but I learned something - about thinking, about making connections, and yes, about writing. A student has to bring their A game, but you make it worth it.
Bud is a very nice guy, and he does something most all other teachers despise, he doesn't tell you answers instead he helps you find them, there are preachers and teachers %95 of all "teachers" preach on and on about what is "correct" than there are teachers like Bud who teach you how to find the right answers. (im in his 10th grade English class!)
Truely the BEST English 111 instructor. He really cares about his students. You will be a better person after taking his class.
you are amazing at life
Good instructor. Makes you use your brain. Be prepared to work hard!!
The best English 111 teach there is. He makes you think. Be prepared to work but if you think and try hard you will great. Take him he is great.
I had Kanyo in high school and He was and still is my favorite teacher. He makes you think but not in a hard way. If you are lazy then yes you might not like him but he knows what he is talking about and I recommend him to everyone!
AMAZING TEACHER. Very hard class, but he made it so fun. Never thought I would say this, but I looked forward to, and loved going to his lecture. I learned a lot and appreciate everything he did. Very funny guy, and tells it how it is. Probably would not take his class if you get offended easily. But if you are easy going, work hard, and like to ha
Took web class. You have to be prepared to devote untold hours to research and writing drafts, otherwise, FAIL. Bud is funny and concise. No needless rambling or "atta boys". Do WHAT he says HOW he says, and you'll get an A. Just like following a food recipe, don't complain if you don't do all you're supposed to. Not hard, just time-consuming.
Kanyo is a amazing teacher. He seems intimidating the first class, but stick it out and you will learn a lot. If you follow his assignments and do them, there is no reason you cannot get a good grade in the class. He is hilarious and tells you the way it is. Keeps your attention the whole class period.
Great teacher who cares about the success of his students. I wish there were more like him!
Bud was a wonderful Instructor. He does make you think but that is part of learning and being a grown up. If you dont want to work hard and learn something, you should not take Bud's class.
The class is pretty hard. The portfolio can be rough if you put it off. Bud is open and doesn't lie about it. He is really blunt and will tell you if you are making poor choices in class. He makes you really think about this stuff. My biggest knock is that he answers questions by asking questions too much!
I loved this class and the instructors teaching style. I will always choose to take his class over any other instructor.
Awesome teacher! Be ready to write some papers, but he always gives the option to resubmit. My favorite Professor so far!
He's a really great teacher. Yes, he seems like a hard ass but he is fair and clear what he execpts out of you. He gives you alot of work but he has the assingments clearly writen out and you know what is execpted out of the assignement. He was readily availabel to help you if you needed helped I wish that there was more teachers like him.
As long as you do your stuff on time, and improve on your work; you can not do bad in this class. Attendance is not mandatory, but highly recommended. If you miss class, you will miss something important, guaranteed.
Bud Kanyo is a great teacher. Not to hard. Do your work, and come to class and there is no way that you will fail
If you get the chance, take Bud for any and all of your classes. He's loud, he's foul-mouthed, he's antagonistic, and he's wonderful. He really cares deeply for the subjects he teaches. If you ever need a history or humanities credit, take HIS/HUM 252. You will absolutely not regret it.
Bud is a great teacher, he is very straight up about his class and what he expects from his students. Students can learn a lot if they take the class and him with a grain of salt and not personal. Thank you Mr. Kanyo for being my teacher this semester Winter 2013.
Awesome teacher! If you get a chance to take him for any class DO IT!
He was a GREAT teacher! Opened my eyes for many different subjects! Can't wait to take more classes with him.
Kanyo seems to actually care about his students. If you have a question, he'll make sure he answers it with a 10-20 minutes lecture on life. He's down to earth and a really great teacher. I get good vibes from this guy.
I thought Kanyo was a great professor, as long you you attend class and try your best you should be able to pass the class.
I feel like I learned a lot from all of his lectures, they were all meaningful. Some of the papers will really challenge you but if you pay attention and ask for help you should do fine. This is the fist time I have ever really enjoyed an English class and I hope that I can have him again sometime in the future.
Bud Kanyo grades fairly, if you put in the effort and it shows, you will get an A. But he can tell when you throw a paper together overnight, and you will get the grade for it. I love going to this class. He is very funny and keeps things alive. He is always willing to help with anything you need and is very relatable. You should take this class!
I enjoyed taking humanities with Bud. His lectures are long, but they are interesting. I enjoyed the topics we discussed. Bud always encouraged questions. I hope I'll have him as a professor in the future.
Barely any homework. Very nice professor and I loved his lectures. The class is entirely projects. Some are individual but many are group projects. Your participation matters. If your not there you will fail. Easy class if you show up and participate.
Professor Bud's brain is like a library. I have taken HUM 200 with him, I really enjoyed going to his class. I really recommend him for anyone of you, you will learn a lot from him. I wish I could take another class with him.
Bud is the best teacher I have had so far at Mid. His class is fun to go to and he keeps the class talking and participating. He steers the conversation into our lecture and does a great job at teaching what he expects from his students. If you have a chance, take any class that he offers.
Funny instructor. Always willing to provide feedback for assignments and provides plenty of detail and examples during lectures. Answers questions and uses real life examples to reinforce student understanding. Terrific instructor! I would recommend this instructor to anyone taking Humanities or any other course taught by him.
I really enjoyed taking this class. He kept it interesting and engaging.
Really good class! I enjoyed it! It was nice to have someone push you to think farther than you usually do! Always wants to know, why? and who benefits? Be prepared to use your head. GROUP PROJECTS ARE CONSTANT. Choose group members wisely. You will get stuck doing work if you chose lazy people! Made that mistake! He decreases lazy peoples grade!
Bud is an awesome teacher, he is constantly making you think and his lectures are interesting. I love going to any of his classes and listening to his lectures. I've had him for English before and loved him for that class too. This is not a class where you can be lazy in. There is also quite a bit of group work.
Overall a good class. Lots of group projects.
This guy is awesome! His class was student centered and everyone was given the opportunity to chime in their own opinions. I will admit that there were a few times when his passion for education overwhelmed me, but the course as a whole was very enjoyable and I would definitely take it again.
Amazing professor! He is absolutely hilarious and keeps you very interested. Rarely has homework. Only two big essays. He explains everything. Get out early a lot, too. I wish I could have him for every class. Very helpful with any questions. Loves to chat, too. He yells a lot to make things stand out, too. Overall, best prof here!!!
Great teacher.
One of the best teachers I have had at MMCC. He is very through, wants class feedback when he lectures. He does a lot of group projects and group discussion but I have made a few new friends in the class because of it and I am kind of a shy person. He does give out a quite a bit of homework though and be prepared to read.
I loved Mr. Kanyo's class. He likes to tell stories and personal experiences that relate to the lesson which for me helped me understand what was being taught much better. If you have a question he will not hesitate to explain it until you understand. He responds to emails quickly and keeps up on his grade book. I definitely recommend him.
Kanyo is awesome
Bud is a great teacher that is straight foreward with you. He is available after classes for individual chatting and help is finds more than one way to make a point to make it easier to understand the point of the material. For the most part you show up, do the work, get the grade. He is a riot in the class room also, lots of laughs and fun.
He is a awesome guy and professor. Pay attention, do what he tells you, and go to class. You will do great in his class.
You need to come to class. The homework policy is strict! Read the syllabus. There are a lot of group projects and presentations. Some of the instructions are hard to understand so ask questions.
If you have a choice to take Bud as your teacher you should definitely take the opportunity. You learn so much more that just English in his course, he makes his lecture and class time with fun and deep conversations. If you don't think you're an English person I guarantee you'll be one by the end of this class.
Kanyo was a fantastic teacher! I would highly suggest attending class and keeping up on all of your essays. You will more than likely have a short paper after every class, but they are not hard. He was very helpful as well.
All I can say is he is amazing. So helpful and I wish I had more classes with him!
Kanyo is very intelligent and gives you a different look on life. He makes English mean more than your average instructor. I like the use of philosophers in the reading and challenges your thinking rather than making you feel stupid. He gives you the key elements it takes to be successful in the course if you put the work into it.
Hella cool
Bud Kanyo is an absolutely amazing teacher. Teaching not only lessons in English but in life. Absolutely phenomenal teacher. Would STRONGLY recommend.
he has a clear and precise grading criteria to which he doesn't stray from, he makes everyone play by the same rules, not special treatments. He is a very caring professor that insists his students are exceptional and can succeed. he uses a lot of his own personal experiences from education in his lectures for easier understanding.
The most amazing teacher I've ever had. Not only is he exceptional at teaching English but his class will leave you feeling inspired and excited to learn. Could not possibly reccomend enough! TAKE HIM
This professor cares about his students success. As long as you follow the guidelines of the assignment and put in the time and effort you should pass the class. The work is very time consuming and difficult but worth it in the end. There are many readings and you want to make sure you read them thoroughly and understand them for class discussion.
Very passionate about the subject matter, so if that's not your thing you might want to pass. He really does have a heart of gold under all the jokes
Bud Kanyo is the most influential teach I have had. He is VERY passionate about his teaching. Cares about the student. He's there to make sure you succeed in his class. Very helpful and easily reached outside of class. Tough, fair grader. Be prepared to READ and read thoroughly for class discussions. TAKE HIM!
Kanyo makes you reflect and critically think a lot, but he also has a funny side and had our class laughing often. English 111 through Mid is already super stressful, but Kanyo gives good advice and feedback. You definitely have to work a little bit if you're not used to needing to try in academics. I would totally take him again.
Kanyo is an amazing prof who actually knows how to teach. If you take eng 111 with him, I promise you will learn something through this course. He is extremely intimidating at first, but as long as you try on the final paper you will easily pass this class.
Dr. Kanyo is awesome! He gives really great feedback when you ask questions. He genuinely cares to help if you care to learn. Hes very straight forward and really makes you look at things from a different perspective. Once again really great guy, defiantly would recommend!
I always look forward to Kanyo's class and I always leave feeling that his class is most definitely helping me grow as a student and as a person. I have learned a lot and would recommend Kanyo in a heartbeat.
This is the first English class that I have truly enjoyed. Bud does an excellent job presenting the material in an interesting and engaging manner. His way of teaching has helped me reflect upon myself to grow as a person. I would not take him if you are going to slack or skip but if you are willing to learn than idk of any that present it better.
Overall, this course is very difficult. However, this professor did not make it any easier for his students. He will say the class is not mandatory, but this is just a trick. You need to go! Most of the time he will ramble about things that are interesting however, they do not pertain to class. If you ask for help he will use an obscure analogy.
Bud is a great professor and respects the students decisions. Just make sure your decision is to go to class and do the work. As a returning college student, I took Buds class because he was highly recommended. I passed this class with an A but I went to every class and did every assignment. Very awesome lectures!
Bud explains things very well, and he is caring while grading.
Kanyo does everything he can to make sure we understand the material and makes 111 less intimidating
I paid what I came for, he's tough, but you learn how to write properly.
Bud is a good professor. He is strict in how he wants assignments to be done. Bud gives good feedback to his students, its not all nice but its critical and he helps his students to the best of his ability without telling them what to do for the assignments. Bud is hilarious and overall a nice teacher. Im not sure I would take his class again.
This class is going to take a lot of outside time to be successful. There is a lot to be learned as student in this class. The syllabus given the first day of class is exactly what you will do throughout the semester. I would not recommend this class to anyone who gets offended easily. Bud has no filter on his mouth. He is sometimes rude.
Hard Grader, But good to have him because then you actually know what your doing wrong, and helps prepare you for the department reading.
I took this class because I had to, to graduate I did very well. I have taken multiple classes from this professor because he is wonderful! He makes learning the content fun.
If you pass your classes based on extra credit, don't count on it. He is an amazing teacher, really pushed my thinking and changed the way I see the world. He took me outside of my bubble and showed me a whole new light. If you think you know how to write a paper, think again. His humor is impeccable and I am looking forward to taking ENG212.
this professor doesn't explain what is needed to be done. when you ask him questions he doesn't help and basically rewords your question. would not recommend he is a tough grader
very funny and sarcastic, makes class fun and interesting all while teaching very valuable lessons about life and the curriculum.
Bud had great lectures and makes his expectations clear. He is very straight forward and expects the best. He is a funny guy that makes the class less terrible. He has high expectations for every student to try their hardest.
Bud is great professor to have and honestly a great way to start the college year. Ive had him consistently for all my ENG classes. He gets pretty personable with you during lecture and outside of class. His expectations are clear and his assigned work is pretty straight forward. If you need help dont be afraid to seek him during office hours.
Be prepared to write! This class is meant to help you to be more prepared for your field of study by making you do research based writing assignments related to your field. Bud is a great professor who will help and accommodate a student who is hard working and putting in the work to do the assignments. Listen to his lecture and he will guide you.
English 222 was one of the greatest challenges of my life. This class had a lot of work. It was not hard to do, but it took a lot of grit. If you are looking for a blow off do not take this class. That being said, Dr. Kanyo is absolutely hilarious, and he teaches life lessons in his hidden curriculum. His presence is moving. Take him for 222.
Attendance isn't mandatory but it is stupid to lose those points. Do not go into writing your papers thinking that you will slack off and be fine. Showing up and putting in a genuine effort will get you a passing grade. Slacking off, doing the minimum or worse - not turning in anything at all - will result in a failure.
For this class you will need to buy a book on your chosen/researched doc. style. You'll write a 5000 word minimum paper. This class requires a lot of grit. If you struggle in self motivation and perseverance then this class may not be for you. Overall, Bud will try to help his students, but he will not babysit. This class is up to you to complete.
Lots of papers to do but if you do what he asks and REACH THE WORD COUNT, and youll be just fine but if you just dont try or dont hit the word count (even if you are 1 word short), you will lose lots of credit, but if you try, youll do just fine!
Dr. Bud Kanyo is the best professor I have had thus far. It is truly a class that you hold on to every word, so much so that I have his morning greeting memorized, "Good morning, I hope your morning has started well, if not I hope that is something you can remedy." I would take his class over and over again if I could. He is what I strive to be.
He's going to make you think. If you aren't thinking, you aren't paying attention. He's going to help you change the way you think and make you a better person. Or, you're not going to get him and perhaps hate his guts, which is your loss.
If you have any questions for this professor, no matter how respectful you may be in an email or any other way you contact him, be prepared for some rudeness in return. Hes a decent professor other than that but hes a tough grader and dont except a lot of helpful feedback on papers.
He is a great professor. He outlines all of the criteria he is looking for and grading you on. REMEMBER WORD COUNTS IN YOUR ASSIGNMENTS. To succeed, go to office hours and ask questions. He helped me solve all the possible deductions I had in my paper. Best professor I have had. He truly cares about helping his students.
Bud is a great professor who pushes his students to thrive. He is very understanding but doesnt play favorites. Tough grader when it comes to papers but he is looking for specifics so if you dont do the requirements then your going to fail somewhere. The lectures are great and he gives lots of info. Attendance is optional but you lose points.
Absolutely amazing teacher. Tells you how it is, but is also incredibly helpful and kind. There were so many things that were poorly taught to me before, but Kanyos style of teaching allowed me to understand so many things I didnt before.
Best professor I had. Told you how it was and did not sugar coat anything. A lot of lectures but he makes them interesting. My advice is to form a relationship with him, go to his office hours, ask him VALID questions, and make sure he knows you want to learn. He will do everything to help you pass if you care about the class. Take his class!
Kanyo's lectures were funny and entertaining while still making sure students learned. The course work is kinda heavy but as long as you stay on top of it, passing and finishing isn't that difficult. He can be asked questions in and out of class. Late work has a grade off and attendance is mandatory. A great teacher if you want to actually learn
Bud has amazing lectures, very interactive, informative and fun. Try not to miss any classes!! Most information being presented such as guidelines and requirements and such are talked about in person and not posted online. Feedback isn't detailed on assignments unless you ask. Overall I enjoyed him, if you do what told you'll be just fine!
He is an amazing professor! Whenever I signed up for a class after having this one I would always request him! He is funny, and his lectures not only teach you about what to do with assignments but also taught great life lessons. He is very clear on assignment expectations, and shows you how you should set them up.
Great professor, would definitely recommend him. Assignments are clearly explained, and the grading criteria is very reasonable.
Absolutely loved the professor, wasn't a huge fan of the course itself. If you don't have time for reading articles and writing thorough reviews and papers on them, don't take eng 222 at all. He sets up the class to really help you with success. Don't miss his classes, he's hilarious.
Students should be prepared for a realistic, hardworking, knowledgeable, and straightforward professor, who is also passionate about what he teaches. You will learn an abundance of information, while learning how to use your time wisely. Be prepared for a professor that is very honest with his students. The class is very detailed and descriptive.
Pessimistic borderline aggressive lectures & feedback. Not a good fit if you have anxiety. Very blunt don't expect nice. Prioritizes hidden curriculum. You're to be well-versed in writing and MLA format prior to his course. Unless you're strong I the subject of English already, I wouldn't recommend him to be your professor.
Bud Kanyo is an engaging professor who sets clear expectations. Attend class, hit word counts, and use resources like unstuck ai - it really helps with success in this course.
He's brusque. I didn't feel like I learned much about English, but I did learn a lot about the hidden curriculum, and how messed up the education system is. If you attend class, take good notes, read your articles and put a little care into your essays it's not a difficult class. The hardest thing was formatting. USE OFFICE HOURS AND GET FEEDBACK!
If you don't have good writing mechanics or citing experience, you will learn nothing from Bud. You need to attend class to get information on essay structuring or you'll fail. The structuring doesn't make sense and was simply a waste of my time (like his class). He doesn't respect his students. The character limit makes this review so difficult.
Kanyo is tough, however he's very fair. Attendance is necessary in order to get key information on assignments to get the best grade possible. Only downfall, though the information is inspirational, is he spends a great deal of time on the education system itself. I'd have liked to have some information on other writing formats besides MLA instead.
Great teacher. He is often loud, which was sometimes intimidating. But he's patinate, not mean. Didn't learn a lot of what I would've expected in an English class, but what we did learn I think was very informative and important. Was very clear about what he wanted done and how we would be graded.
Dr. Kanyo wanted all submissions to be a shareable link. First peer review, a few students an myself gave him an wrong link to our essays. The mistake that could have been fixed quick. Dr. Kanyo graded these assignments during class and had pointed out the students that had not done it right.Rather than allowing us to fix the mistake, he gave a 0.
Kanyo intersects many things like time management, history of education, and thinking outside of structural confines. Focuses on composition from a conceptual standpoint, not so much mechanical. I improved in composing from week 1-16 through repetition. Bud has a big personality and is inspired to help people think for themselves. Do the work-pass
Bud is a very interesting and engaging professor. While his lectures are not mandatory, there is a lot of merit to what he has to say and going will absolutely help with your final paper. With only one assignment ever few weeks, it can be difficult to maintain a grade. WHile grades can be harsh, if you do what he prompts, you will get a good grade.
RIP Bud Kayno.
Best professor Ive ever had!
This man was amazing. One of the realest ones out there. RIP
