munson's the best - who else do you know who provides food during tests?
The best chemistry professor in the department!
He serves his students-24 hour office hours-He is the man in Chem. & discipline
Best Chem Prof EVER, knows everything and is very friendly to all his students
Extremely nice, approachable.Very hard, but knows ALL about chemistry.Great person
Best prof ever! He is brilliant and totally devoted to his students.Tough class
BRILLIANT, but very hard. class can be boring, but is a great guy himself
Probably the best teacher I have ever had -- amazing dedication to his students!
Great professor, but very hard
Simply amazing. He's ranks among the best teaches i've ever had.
Incredible! Knows everything about chemistry. Difficult, but worth the effort
Extremely hard. Awesome teacher. Very dedicated to his job and students.
Very knowledgable and nice, gives food during an exam, hard to approach on ?'s
Hands down the most amazing chem prof I've ever had!
AWESOME teacher!!! "white, crystaline solid"
Dr. Munson is awesome!
He is brilliant. There is nothing he doesn't know. VERY friendly but demanding.
Quite simply, the best teacher I've ever had. His courses are demanding, though
Probably the best professor i've ever had
Very personable, Tests are really hard and very thorough. Very smart and caring
great man, knows his stuff, but very difficult material

My favorite prof. thus far. Freshman year wouldnt have been the same witout him
Dr. Munson is the SHIZZO
Awesome professor!! demanding tests
you will love him and hate him, has free food
Very tough but very good...you will learn alot
Hard class, Great teacher... will challenge you, but will make sure you learn
He is a nice guy; one of the best teachers for freshman year. :o)
Excellent professor, you gotta love Munson. Always has a funny story to tell.
very dedicated teacher, tough, cares about students
He's the best professor ever!! CHALLENGING but truely cares about his students.
what is there to say about the Munson....he has free food...period.
he is cool
hilarious sarcasm-based humor, lecture notes hard to follow, dedicated teacher

Nicest and most genuine man you will ever meet
greatest teacher ever
He's the greatest because he really cares
Notes seem like ebonics, knowledgible with odd sense of humor
cares about students, will do anything to help, tough class
I almost cried 1st week, it was so hard. smartest man at UD. married to work.
very very good teacher, a lot of material to learn for the quizzes each week
Wonderful teacher. Loves his students. Extremely difficult, though.
nice guy...but hard as anything
never seen professor who cares so much; quizzes hard but re-quizzes allowed
Very dedicated to his students' success, be prepared to study!
great great teacher, but don't expect A's
loved him in 111; hate 445; sooooo not worth the one credit
Munson is awesome. His class is difficult, but you'll get through it. He is so helpful, and really cares about his students. Also had him for 112, 119, and 120
Munson's a funny guys who will help any time you need it. He devotes more time to his students than any professor I've met thus far.
He knows his stuff! His age is catching up to him.Fair and flexible.Sometimes he gets a temper if you don't understand something, does attempt to help.Lectures hard to follow.Be prepared to fall asleep.Learn more from past quizs than lecture.GOODFOODthough
hard class, confusing lectures. few As. more memorization than learning. quant chem is a hard 2credit course. nice professor. i got As but it wasn't fun. be prepared to work. labs are tedious and graded hard. responsible for alot of material each week.
Munson is the man. He actually cares about his students. Really knows his stuff. The course itsef is difficult on't expect A's. Weekly quizzes given.
Dr. Munson is the most challenging teacher I have ever had. HE will make you think and work very hard, just to earn mediocre grades. However, he is very helpful and cares very deeply for all of his students. He wants you to pass!!
Munson can be a great guy. However, don't find your way onto his **** list or you're done. He is a great teacher, but very tough. He definitely makes you work for grades.
Munson is an excellent teacher. His lectures can be a little dry, but he puts the most effort of any teacher I have ever seen to get everyone to pass. Very funny and very nice as long as you pay attention in class.
confusion should be expected
munson in an experience. you have to love him b/c he's been around so long. he's extremely nice (sends his students christmas cards :) but don't be fooled--he is very, very challenging. i didn't get an A, and i worked pretty damn hard. but he's cool.
Munson keeps it real. He is my gangsta fo shizzle.
Munson is da shiznitz.
if he scares you in the first two weeks, switch to non-honors. the difference is unbelievable
Very nice, funny, caring and interesting teacher. However, very hard and demanding. Forces you to study constantly. Almost impossible to get A's. Good teacher to have if u want to learn something.
munson is the man!!!!
I liked Munson for 111/112/119, but 445 is TOUGH. I don't know anyone who got an A in this class. Throws his normal grading scale out the window and uses the university's, then the TAs nail you on every lab, then take his final, which verges on impossible. God would have trouble getting an A in 445.
It's impossible to hate this guy, just cause he is so nice and caring. However, at the end, ur gpa is wat matters, and he has a tendency to ruin that. Even my advisor said that he just hammers people. Extremely tough courses, and its virtually impossible to do very well on his 6 hour finals. Pray!
Tests and quizzes are pretty difficult, but the way he teaches the material is very unique and is always there to help you if you have any difficulties. Lectures can be very humorous at times. One of the best professors on campus.
Munson is a living legend. He's a really nice and funny guy in person, but if you don't answer problems at problem session, he gets frustrated. His class is a lot of work, so if you don't like chemistry or don't like to work, it would be a waste of time. Munson is a nice guy, but his class is a gpa killer.
Burnaby Munson is a character. His classes arent easy but he is always willing to help a student. He is really funny and a nice guy, unless you slack off in discussion. Highly recomended.
Don't get me wrong, he's a great guy, but his classes are killer. Stick with it, study a lot, and pray, and you might do well. Asking him questions in office hours usually turns into him asking you questions about the material you don't understand.
Not an easy class, but if you make it through, its quite rewarding. I learned more about chem in his 1 semester course than all of Highschool Chem, AP Chem, and first semester freshmen chem with another teacher, combined. He won't be teaching 111/112 though I believe, mabye still labs (119/120).
Hard class, but well worth it. Labs are long and boring, but easy. Quizzes and class material are difficult. However, you can retake any quiz and redo any lab. That helped me out a lot. His lectures can get boring but if you pay attention you'll be much better off. Don't just look at the answers to the practice exams, do them! GREAT PROFESSOR.
His lectures often involve questions so general they almost seem rhetorical, and often have so many answers that no one knows how to answer. That's about the only bad thing about his class. Labs are fine, grading system is unique (but good), quizzes are easy, and he is a tactlessly friendly man.
professor munson is a jolly old man, his classes are unbearably boring. However the course material is not that difficult. There no excuse not to exceed because all labs and quizzes can be made up. Munson answers questions by asking more questions, which is very annoying. He also has study breaks where there are gummy bears. YUM!
Munson is the man
Munson is pretty much the best teacher i have ever had. He is extremely nice and has cook outs at his house where he makes you food. His bacon cheeseburgers are awesome. The class is somewhat hard but if you work you will get a good grade. The quizzes are pretty easy if you study and do the practices. The final was way to long, took me 5 hours.
He is the Man. One of the coolest professors I've ever had. Lab was extremely time consuming but gummy fishes at the final made it worth it. CHEG's BEWARE: Take an easy schedule this semester or take the orgo lab instead. I repeat, this lab is REALLY time consuming.
Gummy bears!
munson is the hardest teacher i've ever had, but i still enjoyed his class. you feel like youre struggling in the class when you get quiz grades back, and the lecture notes arent always understandable, but the class is mostly based on labs which helps. you can redo any lab or quiz. s
I'm not sure I really learned anything during his lectures but he's an awesome, funny guy. Lab is 60% of your grade and you can redo labs so you can pretty easily get a decent grade in the class even if you do horrible on the quizzes/final.
The best professor I had at UD.
This quintessentially tactful man is a wonderful professor. His notes are written in munson and may need to be translated to english. while attending this class i did not have legitimate expectations of longevity, but am happy to say that i have survived two of his courses. we enjoyed this class..the PROFESSORIAL "we" that is..
Burnaby Munson is hardto describe. He is a great prof who is always willing to help you out, he has a great sense of humor, and he's pretty much the nicest guy ever (study breaks with free food, fun chem demonstrations), but he is occasionally unclear in his expectations and directions and his class is very difficult. He's awesome, but a challenge.
If I was rating personality I would say Munson was my favorite professor. When it came to his class, it was the hardest class I have yet to encounter. I didn't learn anything and didn't comprehend any of the material. He assumes you know all of the material. If you are a wiz at chem take him if you can, if not avoid his class at all costs.
Munson knows everything, unfortunately he thinks you do too. He can be very intimindating, but he really does love his students. His powerpoint slides are incomprehensible and his "quiz" questions have paragraph long introductions. You need to practice doing HIS problems, he has his own language.
This class is tough. As one becomes more accustomed to Munsonese, understanding improves dramatically. Attendance is necessary to get a decent grade, and he expects that you do a lot of work. That being said, it's not impossible to do well, and because lab makes up a big part of the grade, as long as you get good results, you'll be fine.
this class is impossible. everyone fails the tests. no one knows whats going on during class. lab reports are hard to write because he doesnt tell you what to do. you'll end up hating him very soon. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!!!! (he's a cute little old decrepit man tho!)
He puts on a facade of being grouchy and unapproachable but there are times when you can tell he's a good guy. That being said, his class is close to impossible. His Powerpoints are hard to follow and he provides little to no explanation in class. Understanding of the material beforehand is a must.
Munson is one of those guys that you will absolutely love as a person, but dislike as a prof. Once you realize that his grumpy exterior is about a millimeter thick, you have a little more fun in the course...a little. The course is near impossible to do well in seeing as assignments are unclear and exams were literally the scourge of my first year.
Class is absolutely impossible. It is a class based on acids and bases and nothing else. **A class based on the hardest topic in chemistry...** Never used textbook, help sessions are a great idea. He is a very obnoxious person and does not grade leniently. He expects you to know everything before you come to his class which is impossible...
if you didn't take AP chem in high school good luck. the exams are very difficult unless you really master the material - little to no partial credit. GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS. wish i'd started going earlier in the semester, everything becomes so much clearer. its a recquired class so majors, so just ask for help and good luck!
I love Munson. At first he will try to intimidate you and scare the class but he is actually nice and does his best to help when you seek it. The only problem is that Munson is old and his methods are old so even when he explains things to you, its hard to understand. His notes are all over the place. The best way to study is to do the old exams.
Munson is one of the best guys I know. He genuinely cares about his students and puts in the effort to learn each students name. His class, however, is extremely hard as the power points are difficult to follow and the material (acid, bases, conductivity) is hard. Good luck.
Really liked him as a person, and he was helpful during lab but during his lectures it was like he was speaking a foreign language at times. His tests were so tough and I barely passed, you really have to work for a good grade in this class.
He expects you to know everything he is going to teach that day before you get into the class. If you miss classes, it's not a big deal but there isn't much you can do to catch up. Take good notes and watch the UD captures later that day.
Munson is the cutest once you warm up to him. Tests are pretty hard but he gives you 3 practice exams with the solutions so its not too bad. Lectures are long and dry. He is so picky in lab so dont mess up on the procedure he will embarrass you in front of everyone. Help sessions and lab TA really helped
Dr. Munson's class was really challenging, especially if you don't have a very strong background in chem. His tests are really hard, but he and his TA's are very willing to help. DO WELL IN LAB and you will be able to pull off a decent grade. He is a bit confusing and his lectures are boring, but he is a very kind man who wants you to succeed.
Don't buy into the grouchy old facade he puts up. Once you warm up to him, he is really nice. He really cares about everyone. But his lectures are really long and confusing. He speaks his own language, "Munsonese." Do well in lab, it'll boost your overall grade. Exams are really similar to old exams so make sure you go over and study old exams.
Munson's lectures are more confusing than they need to be. However, if you have a background in chemistry it's fairly easy to do well in the class. Do well in lab and study off of old exams and you should be fine.
surly facade, but he's a caring teacher that loves what he does. one of my favorite profs of college.
I love Munson. He was in charge of PChem 1 lab, which sucked but not because of him. He always tried to help you out and correct any mistakes. The TA's were honestly harder graders than Munson was. 10/10, so sad he is retiring. (Beware of a lab final, it's easy but kind of a secret)
