Good teacher. He gives student's clear directions with their assignments.

As long as you write your essays grammaticly correct and by his format and write and study what is on the power point you should be fine. He is not afraid to fail anyone, but he is always willing to help you if you are struggling even if it is not during tutoring or office hours.

Boring and difficult. I hate government and hat it more even now. I did very well on the written assignments (As and Bs) but not too well on the tests, which were really difficult, and as a result I didn't pull of the minimun grade I was going for. I won't say he is a horrible professor but I have had better.

Difficult class, take him if you are transferring, will prepare you. Tests are difficult, use the Pearson online study aids and take advantage of tutoring hours. He is willing to go above and beyond to help you succeed.

great professor, just know the textbook material and you will do good. helpful if u need it. just dont be late or be on cell phone and make sure your writing assignments are gramatically correct.

He uses powerpoint every class to go over what will be on the test, so you HAVE to take notes and attend class. As far as his teaching I feel he is a good teacher and his class isn't hard at all. The test are easy and everything on them is material he has covered in class. As long as you go to class, take notes, and read your book, you should pass.

Let me start by saying, I'am not into Govt. I think Professor Martin is a fair teacher. Make sure you take notes because everything he goes over in class, will be on the test. Do your work read the chapters, and go to class, you will pass. I got a A.

When I fist started this class I thought I wasnt going to like this professor. He seemed hard and not very willing to work with you. But I was proven wrong. He is very helpful but holds you accountable. If you fail his class it's b/c you didnt put in the work or ask for help. He is there to help you but you have to work for your grade. Greate prof!

If you aren't comfortable with your writing level you may want to take another teacher. He does not give review sheets for exams or copies of his powerpoint. He is very entertaining and clearly loves his subject. He also has a bit of a Tony Stark thing going on, both in his humor and in his way of talking. Very enjoyable.

In his class YOU really are in control of your grade. Just figure you're passing the class as long as you're putting in the work. Read, show up, take notes...easy enough. The material is dry, but unless this class is an elective to you, it's to be expected. Tests are hard but fair. If you didn't read/take notes, you're toast.

If you want to pass this class, take ALL HIS NOTES off the powerpoint since the exam comes directly from what he covers. This is not a blowoff class. I took GOVT2301 with him and he is a pretty fun professor. His tests arent that bad if you pay attention in class and review your notes. All class long he just lectures over his powerpoint slides but are useful. He doesnt give out review sheets or let you keep anything but he is a overall a good professor.

Mr. Martin is one of the best professors at HCC. His class is not challenging at all if you pay attention, and take notes from the power-points. Mr. Martin cares about his students. Professor has great lectures and gives out great notes. You will have some writing assignments,follow his instructions and you will do fine. His tests are a little hard. Study and you will pass, do not study and you will fail. I recommend this professor, however this class is NOT for LAZY people.

His test are a little challenging but if you study, you will do fine. The powerpoint slides he uses are from the book. You only have writing assignment, which is a research paper. He does allow you to work on research paper throughout the semester. I received an A from his class and will be taking him for the next Government class.

This professor was a good take, he secretly is compassionate I was having a rough time on a test day and sent me home not wanting me to take it under stress, and gave me a month to make it up. You do have little essay assignments here and there about a topic youd like texas to adopt but that was very easy and spread out. You do need to study though

Excellent professor. He makes the class interesting and funny. He understands that not all students speak English as their first language; and is very flexible with grammatical errors and misspelling. He is a huge sports fan and will sometimes talk about football while lecturing! As long as you show interest in the class he will help you a lot ;)

Write ALL the slideshow notes down & things he says that ARE NOT on the slides. I did that, studied tons, only used textbook for definitions & I got an A in both classes. He keeps you tuned in by relating the material to your own life as much as possible. Devote time & an A is possible. If youre lazy/tired (especially during class) do not take him!

He WILL make plenty of football references,so if you are clueless when it comes to football you will feel lost. Other than that he is a GREAT professor, he does have a few pet peeves so WATCH OUT. One of the best professors. Is out for the best of his students, and wants them to succeed. While many people had a hard time, I thought the course was pretty easy. You can get a B+/A- if you just take powerpoints down word for word and memorize them. Another teacher has the same powerpoints on her website, so find them, and have an easier time. :)

A very good professor.Comes off as intimidating at first,but with time you will see the soft side of him. But NOTE you have to really study, not just his power points but his text book and I applaud the author of the text book.

He teaches like you are having a conversation, the type you would have to work hard to forget. i had 2 jobs and 3 classes which took more of my time.I only revised my notes. he wont ask what he didn't cover in class, and he answers questions. He is the best instructor i have learnt from. If you want an easy A, take this guy.

He made Texas Government interesting for me. You have to participate. The more you participate, the more he will like you. Cool guy. Your wont regret taking him.

If you can take Dr. Martin, DO! I didn't bother buying the book - just showed up for lectures, took notes, and ended up with like a 98. He'll try to scare you in the beginning, but he's a wonderful, funny, helpful prof. who genuinely cares about your success. He even helped me find a faster commute to school! He's really funny, he wants the class to interact and actually talk, and he's a huge Star Wars nerd. As far as tests, they're really easy if you read the book and/or take notes (questions come straight from the text)

Only 4 exams, should be easy if you read and understand the book!!! Lectures were kinda boring but he tried his best to entertain the class by letting everyone interact. Essay part of exams were easy if you paid attention, he would hint at what would be on the exam. Attendance was so so.

He is a great professor who really knows his stuff. He is funny and helpful. You have 4 tests - each 50 multiple choice questions, 5 short answers and an essay. However, if you study, you will be fine. I would definitely take him again.

Doctor Martin is a very good professor i took him over the summer and he is passionate about what he teaches and tries to make it fun. The class is only graded on 4 exams each one worth the same amount. he does not provide exam reviews. test are over what he teaches and what the book teaches. i would definitely take him again.

His test are a bit on the difficult end since he no papers you have to write in his class on the exam you have to write a short essay and also answer short answer questions but as long as you study and take notes during class you will be fine. He teaches both Texas and us Government. He lets you eat in class during exam. Overall a good teacher.

Prof Martin is the only professor I loved from the 2 years I've been at HCC. Everyone else I've taken were nothing to remember. He explains everything very detailed and also breaks it down for us if we still didn't understand. I took him during the summer so it went by fast. Govt is my worse subject yet he made it so fun and understanding.

I took Govt in the summer. Taking his class in the summer I assume is very different versus in the fall/spring term. His class is straightforward, and he lets you know what you need to do to succeed. However, there is no cushion to help your grade, because your grade is entirely based on your tests. For TxGOVT, you read the book or fail. No PP's.

I followed the older reviews & I am glad I did! His class is exactly as what was reviewed! For anyone whose English is not first language, you may have to work harder for his A grade, but it is absolutely possible. The most important thing is reading textbook before tests and writing notes in class. Hard work pays off, you won't regret taking him:)

I wasn't a big fan of government so the lectures were pretty boring for me but he's good at explaining. There are 2 papers and both of them are an easy A. For exams I literally studied the end of chapter summaries and the end of chapter vocabulary terms and got A's on every exam.

What stands out most about Professor Martin is his knowledgeability and his sense of humor. I'm taking his class in a fully online format, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The best way to go about his class, at least in online format, would have to be reading the textbook, which unfortunately can be boring. Nonetheless, a solid experience.

The class was made up of 1 personal introduction, 6 discussions, and 4 tests. Most of the test material was on Quizlet so honestly, it isn't that hard to pass with AT LEAST a B, if you get anything lower you're just lazy. Provides 6 points extra credit to your final grade which is the teacher evaluation. Fairly easy tbh.

I take a summer 5 week online class, 4 discussions and 4 exams in total. He is easy grader, as long as you write something meet the requirement he will give you full grade. Exams are open book, easily found in Quizlet. Very easy A.

UTILIZE YOUR RESOURCES. Prof has study guides that go along with the textbook, practice quizzes, powerpoints, and crash course videos for each chapter before the test. The class consist of 4 exams and a few discussions. The exams are easy as long as you read the material. The practice tests before the exams include questions that are in the actual exam. The discussions have a clear description and provide materials for you to use as reference. Professor is very friendly and understanding!

He's easy to work with but his career expertise is extremely limited. Also the link he provides you for the textbook somehow costs $50 more than if you search the isbn on cengage and buy it there. Easily the most enjoyable professor in any class I've ever taken. Everything is clearly structured with not a lot of work, however it's just talking about your own opinions, so it doesn't even feel like work if you're involved at a minimal level, which is also easy since he makes the discussions about modern topics that people can relate to.

Only grades discussion board and tests with a 10-point extra credit for the introduction! Had a lot of free time with this course. Discussions are 250 words about a topic with a response to a classmate (Only 5). 4 tests that are easy if you study and have a limited amount of time to take them (an hour for 50Q).

Great Professor. He gives extra credit in the beginning of the year, DO IT. The only assignments were group discussions (plus replying to 2 other students) and tests. Really easy course.

Pretty simple class. 5 discussions, 4 tests, and an extra credit discussion at the beginning of the semester. The quizzes were a tad difficult, in the sense that they were oddly specific on what they were asking for. They were made easier by the ungraded practice quizzes that were offered. I greatly appreciated that he was not politically biased.

Chill professor and class, most of the work consisted of discussion posts and tests that were fairly easy and not too hard.

I took this online and his class work isnt so much , only have 5 discussions and a personal introduction , for the discussion you do have to reply to atleast 2 classmates if not your grade goes down. Theres only 10 assignments in total its not really bad. If you need help and reach out to him he would help you.

Easy A. His lectures are very engaging, I wasnt interested in government until I took his class. 5 discussions very easy, exams are online and no lockdown browser. Best professor I ever took!

4 discussions and 4 exams, prof. provide practice exam for each chapter which is really helpful for actual exam. Discussions were really interested.

Class consists of discussions and tests. His modules are very well organized making it easy to study for tests. Gives practice quizzes which make me very confident during testing. Just make sure you read take some notes and tests are very easy. Love the discussions. AMAZING PROFESSOR

I've always used rate my professor to pick professors for my courses, but never wrote a review. This professor is worth writing a review for. Incredible personality, extremely easy-going and understanding, and really made government interesting. Truly a class I looked forward to every week. Loved this guy

Course is very easy to follow though canvas with interesting discussions and easy exams to do with practice quizzes to help you prepare for it. He makes the lecture pretty interesting and always engages with his students and always brings good vibes every time though can be corny but in a good way, highly recommend taking him!

Great class, the professor is very outgoing and seemed to genuinely care about his students. Tests are open books and open notes; discussions and tests are not difficult if you read all the given materials.
