smart, energetic teacher, but not a easy class
great class, easy Aor high B and easy to understand,
great class
Great teacher, helps you understand everything. Tests arent that bad.
Very organized, provides study guides for tests. You must study to do well, but he makes it as painless as possible. If you study regularly, the guides can pinpoint where you need to work and reduce the stress of testing.
One of the best teachers at De Anza, will motivate you to actually read the text. Very clear and helpful, Uses images and graphs on overhead everyday for each chapter. Great Teacher
Lilly is a really good teacher. He's clear and tries to answer your questions. Fuocus is more on learning, not covering all the material. Plus, it was so hot the other day, he told a story and let us out of class early.
Very energetic, always on caffene. Not always too clear, but always helpful. He teaches really well, but you still need to read the book. But he has hard tests. theyre multiple choice, but still tough.
He's a high energy helpful and informative teacher, but I found his course rather difficult. His class definitely requires a fair amount of studying. If you put in the time and read the book, you will do very well! I enjoyed his class very much!
cool teacher, can be hard at times.he might curve the tests if everyone does bad.
he bored us to max.extent
TOTALLY SUCKS HARD TESTS BORING
overall class is easy, teacher talks too much and uses too much powerpoint, lectures are so boring that my friends and i always sleep in class, just read the book and its easy to ace the test
Mr. Lilly is a cool teacher, but his powerpoints got boring after like, the first 3 days of class. The tests are okay, as long as you study for it. Mike's Bikes = not good. should play something stimulating like Sims Theme or Rollercoaster Tycoon.
mr.lilly is so boring that i'd rather watch larry king live, make sure to bring a blanket and a pillow to class cause you'll need it, easy teacher though, more than half of the class got A's or B's
i love how mr lilly teaches, those powerpoints really get into my head. i think all the teachers should teach from powerpoint, even pe teachers. i don't know why half of the classes are always missing or sleeping, cuz his lectures are so fun.
Most people including me slept through this class. If you can stay awake, good luck. If you can't, you won't miss anything anyway.
Cool teacher. Great instructor. Tho the classes are sometimes a bit boring, the exams and the Mikes Bikes assignments are easy. Very helpful and not much assignments to do.
He's really hard. I really hated him. Got a D from him ....so yea...super hard. Dont pick him
Great Teacher! one of the greatest teachers i have ever had. Mr. Lilly is very interesting and very helpful he is very flexible and willing to compromise. I couldn't ask for a better teacher than Mr. Lilly.
Mr.Lilly is one of the best teacher that i ever had. He comes to class prepare and know what he's doing. He's hard but he's really nice. If you read the chapters (or just scan the chapters) and listen to his powerpoint lectures, you'll ace the test.
The class is boring but you can't bring any pillows to class. You'll be fine if you can keep your eyes open and your mouth shut, then you will get a good grade. Oops, did I just reveal the secret of getting good grades in all of your classes? LOL
Boring powerpoint presentations...tests are hard...
Very cool teacher.Quite sleepy lecture. You should read before coming to class.
Lectures all extremely dry but cover everything you'll need to know, period. Reading is optional in my opinion but necessary for quizzes since you'll have to at least scan. A good guy none the less.
kind of boring lectures but it's not his fault the subject is boring, people whine & dont recomend him when they get bad grades but those to say his lectures are fun is a joke and those who say u'll ACE his test is a big fat LIE!! but he's a great teacher
hes a great teacher, a little tough at times, but explains everything. He basically makes the class idiot proof.
waaaaaaay boring lectures, tests are easy though if you do the readings, just save yourself your youthhood and tune out during his lectures, you'll fall asleep anyways
He has the most well structured classes EVER. Lectures are based on very detailed powerpt. slides, weekly quizzes online are based on those slides, and midterms are based on the quizzes. His explanations are clear and he curves like crazy when necessary.
His lectures are quite boring. Never can pay attention. No homework, just reading assignments and weekly online quizzes. Two exams and one final, non-cumulative. Exams are okay, possible to get an A when you've read the book.
He's lectures are extremely boring, he takes role everyday, and he is very by the book. I only took the class out of necessity. The game you are required to play is horribly annoying and tedious. I wouldn't take it over if I could choose again.
he's pretty cool, sometimes funny jokes, a little jumpy. you gotta study for his exams or else you'll fail. its not him making the exams hard, its the material
TAKE ECON 2 BEFORE ECON 1; MICRO BEFORE MACRO. THERE ARE ALOT OF MICRO PRINCPLES & GRAPHS IN MICRO THAT EXTEND TO MACRO THAT YOU NEED TO BECOME WELL VERSED IN BEFORE HAND. Print out the quizzes and study them; exams are mostly reprints of the quizzes.
He's a cool teacher. We had quizzes every week, first I thought "what the hell...." but actually it's good, cause you will finish all required material on time, so that you just need to review it for the exam/final. I'll take his econ 2..recomme
Mr. Lilly is an extremely analytical, by-the-book, to-the-point guy; a statistician @ heart. He is very easy to get in contact with via email. Though his lectures are boring, econ is a boring subject so who can blame him? He tries to make it painle
This is not an easy class. His lectures are extremely boring, you're gonna end up falling asleep there. You would have to work real hard 2 even get a B. By the end of the quarter you're gonna be sick of econ even if you liked it before. Not a lot of fun..
I swear to god, this guy rates himself on this website. VERY boring, the game is absolutely HORRIBLE
He's a horrible teacher, really, really boring, he thinks that everything he assigns is easy when it's really not. He's not that cute, he's nice to you at first and then he gives you a D when you don't deserve it! Don't take him!
I agree with the others that his lectures are very boring. He uses powerpoint to explain everything and you can get the slides from his website. Lots of questions in his tests (ard 140 Qs for final) and NO extra credit at all. :(
BOOOORING Teacher! It was so boring that I went barely once a week and still walked out with a B in the class(just me tho). Wouldn't recommend it unless you can teach-yourself very well. If you absolutely NEED to take these classes, go for other teacher.
his lectures are boring. goes through material fast and unclear. there are better econ teachers.

Class is kind of boring, but material is interesting and if you do the hw it will help on the test a lot. You don;t even hve to listen to him in class. Just do the hw and you will be fine.
This is clearly is the best econ teacher that I have taken in my life. I learned a lot from his teaching and got an "A".
I take both econ 1&2 with him, quiz every week. His class is a bit boring, not really easy, but as long as ypu do well on quizzes you will be ok for the exams.Exams mostly based on skill list.
You have to work by Urself a lot. If you can go through the material by Urself, don't need to go to class. Man, you have to work very hard to get a satisfactory grade.
NOT BORING! Anyone desiring to get RealLife Silicon Valley Insight gets great bang for thier buck here! More thorough than others. Better examples given here. Best teacher yet! you get what you give. Bottom %ile students should pick another prof.
He is a very good teacher. If you want to know subject and get and A, you will have to work.He is not one of the easiest, but he is very helpful and an interesting person.
smart and professional teacher. read the book, finish your homework and you will get an A. lectures can get a little boring sometimes but he tries to add some spark to em. good prof.
He is extremely boring. You are so gonna need a pillow if you're staying in the classroom. This isn't an easy class. You'd have to read and learn on your own cause he doesn't know how to teach. But he's really good at putting people to sleep
Good luck if you take his class
The two ratings below are from slackers and underachievers. They got an IQ of 117.5 or below. They can't hack it. You learn a HELLUVA lot in M Lilly's class.
He is a funny guy. you can learn a lot from his lectures but most of the time you have to do the reading for a satisfactory grade. weekly basis quizzes, finals are all MC questions, sometime could be ambiguous. overall nice teacher! allowing make up exam!
Lilly is the dude!!! he is the BEST econ instructor i have taken!u gotta pay effort. despite boredom of powerpoints, he trys to make it as fun as possible! weekly basis quizzes make you clear of what he teaches, sometimes tricky. he is lenient too. willing to answer questions. Highly recommend!!!!!
the only hard thing about him is that his test are very hard.
he is a great teacher...always willing to help!!!he gives great examples!!!!His class is not easy...but i enjoy his class coz he is handsome!!!!!
An unreasonable teacher who teaches based on Power points slides only. After the tough mid-terms he tells his students:"It's not too late to get a 'W'". Expects too much out of his students. Teaching style: Read own textbook, Show slides in class, Difficult examinations, Online quizes every week.
He is a nice teacher, exams are tough but if you read a book and attend his lecture u will get A.Tough to get A in his class.
DO NOT trust those negative feedback on him unless you're slacker. It is true his class is not easy, but he is a really good teacher. He gives you lots of examples so that you can understand such a pretty boring and dry subject. As long as you do what ya gotta do, you will receive a good grade.
His tests are really hard! If your looking for an easy A, dont take this class!!!
I found myself in a boring class looking at powerpoints for more than 100 minutes with no break.Man those seats are uncomfortable. Almost all grade is based on tests. What I hated was that he never went out of the scope of the book to teach us something new.If you can take but pain, take this class
There are 119 multiple choices questions at final exam. You have to study hard for A, but you learn a lot. Take Lynch for easy A. Take Lilly for your future.
Great class. I worked hard for my A and well if you're a slacker I recommend you choose another teacher, cuz the grade here is based on 3 tests, including the Final, plus an easy 20 pts extra credit! Everything is all on powerpoint and so you don't have to take notes unless you want the online notes
I wouldn't recommend this prof. the lectures are long and boring and the tests are unreasonably difficult. gives credit for showing up on time. no hw that is turned in but lots of reading in text. take for an ez B.
Well, what i can say about this teacher is that he's so-so. i don't like the way he conduct the class...he uses powerpoint that is boring and make a bogus jokes...that nobody really laugh. my advice for you, if you are going to take the class: come to the class daily and read the pretest tips Carefu
He is so great!if u want to get an easy A, not him, but if u really wanna gain knowledege, he is the dude!
He was a stand-in teacher for a 2-evening, 1-unit pass/no pass class, for which he gave us a full exam. He talks quickly, digresses, and expects you to keep up with his (at times) confusing lectures. At least *he* knows what he is talking about. I did not enjoy being in his class. Nice guy, though
Very helpful teacher, loads of industry experience. Tells jokes in class, uses powerpoint effectively and really knows what he's talking about. Not an easy A, but if you're just looking for an A and don't want to study or put time in, take someone else!! Ignore the other posts. They are from the lazy as people! Go to class, read the book=B to an A!

Dudes, how can you say this guy is 'hot' when he looks something like a frog? But that doesn't really matter as he is a great instructor.
best biz instructor w/ real world experience. no need to take final if u got A in all midterms. no hmwk but frequent quizes every week. very helpful in office hrs. read definitions of all terminologies on the side of each page, understand all online quizes from text website as well as Byron's weekly quizes, u'll earn a perfect score on exams.
Great teacher!! Lectures tend to drag on kind of long, but he does his best. real world experience lends a hand when explaining concepts. am planning on taking another class from him next quarter!
hes kind of a dork but he is a good teacher
Great teacher, know wht he is talking abt during all his lectures & very helpful during his office hours, take him!
Byron Lilly is all a trully good instructor should be: appearance, intelligence, qualification. Not an easy course, but a smart way of teaching it, bringing out the best results with some effort of a student. I highly recommend Mr Lilly as an instructor of business law to everybody.
Great instructor!Good at subject, gives real world examples.Inclass quizzes make his class interesting and active.Resources he gives online, including quizzes were of great help.He encourages open questions and discussions. He is clear in announcements and schedules.Utillizes time effectively.Extends great help during his office hours.I recommend him.
He's a very awesome teacher...He's so EASY & HELPFUL. just come to class, listen to him, and read the book and you will guarantee an A. I and several of my friends proofed it by ourself..!!!!
This guy knows business very well. You will learn a lot from him. There will be weekly online assignments that count in the grade, but I think they help you prepare for the midterms and final. Good teacher who knows how to explain, illustrate, use resources and make the subject more interesting. I recommend Mr Lilly to all of you.
People let me tell you one thing DON'T TAKE THIS GUY! Why because you will surely not get an A in his class and he will drop you if you come to class late more than nine times it doesn't even matter if you do good in the class nobody does that at deanza and all he talks about his MBA classes in Berkley and the lectures are powerpoint slides of his
okay first of all this professor is awesome!! people who fails his class deserves it because A.) they dont show up and crys when he drops them B.) they dont study, which you are suppose to do in college DUR! Basically people who fails his class are lazy pathetic people end of story. This teacher is the bomb diggity =)
Highly recommended!!! Lilly knows about business very well and an A is easy to get if you read the book (even A+). How can you expect not to read any thing outside the class and still get an A? Even if it is possible in some classes, ask yourself what did you learn in these classes? I won't argue if it is a GE class, but Bus 10 is not for GE.
BEST. BIZ. TEACHER. EVAR. Very clear and helpful, and and ez A if you read the book. Even on the border of too helpful when he takes precious classtime to answer and clarify for the class tards. You will learn a lot from him.
he's very knowledgeable on the topic and very helpful.
Lectures are all pwrpt and are boring and redundant if you do the reading. Uses the blue clickers. You only have to click-in once a week, you don’t need to stay. He’s friendly if you need help but he slows the whole class down to help one or a few people. Honors is a business sim that doesn’t follow the class well enough to be intuitive
So smart. This teacher will make you fascinated. He's so energetic. He picks the best subjects and he knows a lot about them. Take his class. Keep on top of the reading because he'll talk about the night's previous reading and the reading prepares you. Reading is outlined with homework assignments so it points out particular key ideas.
He is a great teacher. He has links to websites which are very helpful for exams. His exams are straight from the book, so there are no surprises. It's a challenging, but rewarding class.
I have Byron for Bus 10 this quarter and I have to say its one of the better classes I have this quarter. He is Knowledgeable and eager to teach, he also ties in many examples which help you understand broader topics. Only requires you to show up once a week attendance wise. Great teacher!
I took both BUS10 and BUS18 from him. His exams are easy as long as you study the Exam Preparation Hints he posts before exams. The questions come directly from there. He's a easy-going, humorous guy.
Easy. Dummies for those who cannot get an A.
Mr. Lilly is a great teacher! His class is a bit difficult with several weekly online quizzes, but the answers are straight out of the text, its just time consuming. Very interesting class, he is very passionate and knowledgeable about the subject which makes it fun. He's such a cute little geek and he gets very excited about certain things.
He made law really interesting and fun!! He's a clear enthusiastic teacher & animated lecturer who really knows his stuff and has the life experience to back it up. 2 tests + 1 final, they're not easy but not hard if you study; no homework just reading (and the textbook is also kinda quirky!)
His class is textbook heavy! The quizzes are straight forward but there are so many things to do. I would say that this class is moderately difficult but it's just time consuming. There is no limit on the time you have to do the work but it's all due by a certain date. Try another instructor if you're new at distance learning!
Overall:A.PROS:Quick emails, simple quizes/tests straight from book/lecture,moderately difficult.study and you'll get an A. CONS:Some questions have two answers(literally)either as multiple choice or otherwise, one or two wrong answers brings grade down one or two letters :(
I already wrote a review of Mr.Lilly. I need to point something out to everyone and anyone who takes him: his questions are not specific and designed to trick you, sometimes AND the correct answer is not always correct. I have lost many points due to this.I answer questions based not on my knowledge but on if it's a trick or not. Huge flaw!!
I took this class online. Reading the text is a must. There are many opportunities for extra credit, take advantage of them. He is very helpful if you have questions and will get back to you right away. Questions from the videos are tricky if he mentions often, on the test will be often, sometimes or never. So Pay attention.
I took his Bus 10 and Bus18.He clearly explains doctrine and his lectures will increase your knowledge. He is really patient to answer your question and he knows a lot about the class. And he will give your instruction or exam preparation hints in details. Although maybe I will not get an A on his class. I still highly reconmmend him to people who r
All I can say to him is he is very helpful!!!! Very considerate and easy to approach. He is a well skilled teacher. He is very good and he shares his experiences in class which is interesting. i definitely recommend this prof!!! His class is not easy but he gives a lot of extra credit in bus10 and in bus18 he gives retake for midterm!
i marked attendance not mandatory but it really is in order to catch details that make the diff between an A grade and a B. i'm not one of those vocal people in class but he is a really good professor and i did well in his class. doesnt play favorites but there are tricky ?s on the quizzes
took his online class, good teacher, in order to get a good grade you have to do the actual assigned reading and watch videos which was enough for me to pass the quizzes and exams without hard studying, some questions can be a bit tricky but if you pay attention you'll be fine
Class is very clear-cut; If you do the readings, you will be in good shape for the exams. Prof. Lilly is always there to support you.
He's one of the best instructor you can find in de anza. Very helpful and organized. If you want to get an A in his class you have to put effort. Just follow his instruction and you'll be off to a good grade. At first I thought law is such a boring topic but somehow he managed to make it fun and interesting.
Hes the best!!
Online class, lots of work. Many quizzes etc. Over 1000 points of work overall (1 point per question). Lots of people didn't finish all of the online work by the end of the quarter. No weekly deadlines, just need to get everything done by the end. Take a LOT of notes for the final. Final based mainly on online quizzes
Took his online class.. So difficult to keep up with his "recommended" deadlines. Tons of reading. Need to do at least 1-3 chapters a week. Study guide was 13 pages.. and study guide isn't filled out. Took about 4 days to fill it out, and didn't even finish. Final was only 127 problems. Don't take if you don't have a lot of time for a class
(Business Law)- He was a really good teacher; really straight foward and clear. The work is tedious at first; but if you KEEP UP with your readings then you're in exellent shape. He made law relatable and demonstrated some wit with his humor. Overall very strong dude all around; just work hard and you'll ge the A; promise.
(ONLINE) if you do the work... EASY A! read a couple pages, take a quiz, read a couple more pages, take a quiz, read the whole chapter, take a quiz, then a final at the end of class, its that easy! oh yea, ALL work is due at the end of the quarter. teacher is super nice and enthusiastic about bizness. read the text= easy A, you MUST have the text!
Mr.Lily is well-verse in explaining complicated stuff in a very clear and easy to understand manner. He's very knowledgeable in his field and he's up to answer and questions you have. He's down-to-earth and honest. Do all those quizzes online. Play the stock game for up to 60 xtra credits and you'll ace for sure.
crystal clear.follow what he wants you to do, you will get an A for sure. Test:3 midterms, give out study guide but my tip is read the whole book.Final: optional. He tests every corner of the book. His lecture is ok.attend class for full credit. Extra credit:stock on Envestopedia.Average 5 quizzes/week but read the book and you will do fine.
Mr. Lilly is an amazing teacher. He has a concrete structure & his lectures are crystal clear. It might be overwhelming on the first day of class b/c he will bombard you with all the info you need to know & learn throughout the course. However, you will not be caught off guard. If you keep up with his syllabus, you will be solid. Work hard!
This was a really fun class I got a D in it only because it was early in the mourning for me you'll really have to work for you grade though
He talks and teaches very fast! in the first week of the quarter, he went through half of chapter 2. I think if u are smart native students so its fine to take him but if u are international students , it will be hard to catch up. hope that u guys will make good choices!
Dont take it.There is only 1 midterm and one final. Basically, if you get c in the midterm, don't expect A in his class. I would not recommend this class. He gives way too much homework. It's kind of good in a way because you have to read the book no matter what, and then there are 4 online quizes due every sunday.
(ONLINE CLASS) He is extremely clear on what he wants and highly responsive to emails. real nice guy. His class is self paced, there is a crap load of work but none is due till the end of the quarter! so jus pace youself by doin some work here and there and you will be just fine!(make sure you SUPER study 4 final which is 40% of grade)No midterm=)
Mr. Lilly is well-versed and effectively communicates what he knows. Lectures are clear and helpful but reading is a must. His lecture slides are available online too. Lots of online homework but prepares student for the exam. Although the class moves quick, he paces it quite well; just make sure to keep up.
Lectures are clear, concise, and very helpful. He is very friendly and open to answering all questions. Assigns a lot of work (most of it is really easy), which is helpful in the process of learning. Midterm and Final are a large part of the grade, but he gives you good study materials. I learned A LOT in his class.
Prof Lilly is extremely nice and understanding. He's crystal clear with his lectures and the weekly online quizzes are straight from the book. It's just the class is graded heavily on one midterm and the final so if you screw up on the midterm you pretty much have a slim chance at an A. Study the guide he gives and you have a fighting chance though
He made law interesting! Knows how to teach and explain things in basic terms not using big legal terms. You can survive with a low C just from lecture but you need to read and do his midterm/final study guides to get anything better! Tests are straight from the study guides! 1 midterm 1 final, online quizzes boost your grade 3-4% so do them!
Mr. Lilly rocks! He gives you 5 exams (each one covers three chapters) instead of the standard midterm & final. Tests are straight forward. He tells you exactly how to get a good grade. The lectures are very interesting and helpful but not necessary to get an A. Just read the chapters and memorize the vocabulary terms. I highly recommend this class
For this online course, Lilly gave very detailed and specific instructions. The online course is managed by McGraw-Hill, allowed for little interaction with Lilly, and only tested rote memorization of the text. I recommend the instructor, but not his online class.
Took the online class and everything was clear, straightforward, and overall interesting if you have a thing for business. It is a self-pace class and everything is due at the end of the quarter but, it is a lot of work so make sure not to procrastinate if you really want to learn a lot about the class. Overall is not bad and textbook is required!
AMAZING professor. His lectures are crystal clear and he's extremely helpful. This class isn't exactly a walk in the park but if you do ALL the reading and take the online quizzes, you'll be fine. His exams are exactly like the study guides and he doesn't try to trick you with any weird questions. It was a two hour class and it flew by really fast!
I have to say, that was on the best courses I've taken. He is very clear and straight forward with everything. His class is lectured based with weekly quizzes covering the chapters in the book we must read. Just follow along and you'll be fine. He gives you the tools you need to succeed, you just need to do you part. 2 Finals and you're done! (:
Awesome class! He has everything so well organized that you work at your own pace. You need to get at least 300pts within 4wks otherwise you're be dropped. Everything else due by the end of the course. Midterm & Final you have 2 attempts. He will take the higher score. Lots of reading (literally the whole book) but easy A if you just do your work.
Took his Business & Society class. VERY detail-oriented. I highly recommend buying the electronic version of the textbook so you can type keywords into the search bar instead of flipping through pages trying to find all the specific facts he asks about. Also, expect to take A LOT of quizzes. Assignments are straightforward & predictable.
Takes attendance each day. Goes through each chapter pretty well; you will have a good understanding of the topics. He also has weekly online quizzes - 2 minutes per question (open book). So fairly easy, and good practice for Midterm & Final. Supplies a good study guide for both, study them well and you should be fine!
This is a heavily book and lecture based professor. The professor is your guide line and the book is like your bible everything you need to know and should know will be in the book. He tests every heavily on book material and what an "A" student would know. He does not give out extra credit which would have beneficial to the students who struggle.
Very clear, nice professor. Has high goals for his students, he teaches them how the way he was taught in U.C Berkeley. He is intelligent and Likeable. Use the textbook, it is your bible. Homework an top off %3 of your grade, so focus on studying and tests. He will always mention his prime time in Tandem Computers and U.C Berkeley
Great professor. You have to put in the work to get an A in his class. 3-5 online quizzes every week. Like most people have mentioned on here, everything you need to know is in the textbook! Make sure to keep up and you'll do just fine. Exams (1 midterm and final) are multiple choice.
This man is great. Prepare to work hard in his class but be rewarded appropriately. His lectures are clear as day if you do the assigned reading beforehand. The amount of quizzes are ridiculous but it isn't without just reason. They are a marker of your competence in the subject. Devote at least 8 hours per exam for study and you will ace it.
Srsly this class is not easy. Business Law is not an easy subject so expect it to be hard unless you have a total interest in it. Mr Lily goes by really fast and it's easy to get lost if you LITERALLY look away for a second. I would not suggest this instructor to anyone, he is so difficult and precise is REALLY annoying. Don't take him.
I loved Mr. Lilly. I had been out of college for 20 years and to come back to school and see the total disrespect a lot of the students had, I was glad that there were still some teachers that actually taught and did not just give away grades for fear of surveys like these. He is a teacher and you need to put in effort if you want to learn.
All exams are multiple-choice. He's a cool guy. Take attendance everyday. There's a quiz online every week. Just read the book, go to class, then you'll be fine on exams. He'll offer you some ways to improve your grade
Great professor. Very helpful and understanding.
Unfortunately, there is no way to escape from this teacher because he is the only one one teaching this subject (why?) Actually, he does not teach you anything besides finding the right answer in your textbook (you have two minutes for each question)Horrible! It looks like the teacher wants to punish us instead of teaching: read and do not complain
Very boring class: reading, reading and reading! Two exams: midterm 4 hours, final 6,5 hours (it is not a joke). Additionally, after reading each chapter you have to face a long and very detailed quiz (sentences taken directly from the book). Your job is to find exactly the right sentence. Good luck! Frustrating...
Want to learn law? take his course. Test are hard :(
Prof. Lilly's online class is pretty strait forward. We have weekly assignments and quizzes that you do on your own pace, but need to accumulate 300 pts within the first 4 weeks. After that, it's best to not fall too behind. We have 1 midterm and 1 final that he gives us PLENTY of time to finish. It's a very convenient class since it's online :)
Class is pretty much self-paced. Be prepared to read A LOT and take a lot of quizzes. You will have to earn 300pts within the month or he will drop you. Would not really recommend unless you have to.
The class met 2 times per week and event though they were 2 34 hours long, the time flew by. The class was interesting, challenging and practical. We had weekly quizzes that were challenging and the tests were challenging. The class if fast-paced and Mr. Lilly really cares about teaching and his students learning. Great class - must work hard
Give a Try! He is GOOD tho
Prof Lilly is a great guy. Very knowledgeable and passionate. He lectures very well. Bus law is just straight up hard due to the amount of reading and memorization you have to do. One of the hardest courses i've ever taken, if not the hardest. You really have to work your ass off and study really hard to pass. barely passed with a C. Online hw.
Mr Lilly was a fantastic teacher. I took his online bus 10 class. His lectures were extremely clear and gave great information which he explained very well. His quizzes and final exam were tough, and ask for specifics, but if you pay clear attention and read carefully, you can get an A for certain. I really appreciated his course a lot.
There's a quiz for every chapter and a mini quiz for every objective in the chapter. All that is 60% of your grade and the final is 40%. The final is comprehensive and difficult because he asks a lot of specific questions. He graded the final on a curve which helped a lot , but I'm not sure if he always does that.
I only showed up for role call and left during lecture every class. I just read the entire book on my own, studied his study guides (which are identical to the exams) and passed the class with an 86%. i don't recommend skipping his lectures but I'm more of a "on my own" type of learner. woulda gotten an A if i stayed for lecture. just study hard
I enjoyed the textbook reading, but... If you are not taking other classes and love HOURS of QUIZZES EVERY WEEK, this is the class for you!!!
Clear and carefully worded lectures. He responded to my emails quickly, with thorough and informative answers. I learned TONS from this class and loved it. His quizzes asked for specifics, so you can't slack off and get a good grade. BUT, if you read and learn all the material carefully as you go, you will get an A without much extra studying.
I found his monotonous voice annoying. The class was a synch if you just read the book, follow the lectures and do everything on time. I do feel the book and his lectures are outdated. I also wasn't fond of the way the questions in the quizzes were worded, too many TrueFalse Questions that seemed more of an opinion than a question of Fact.
Lilly is a brilliant teacher, but you do need to do the work to pass. He has online quizzes and in class work that must be done to get a good grade. He is very clear in his teaching and he provides so many resources to help you succeed. One of the best teachers Ive ever had.
Great teacher.. taking his Business, Government, and Society Fall2015. He response 2 ur emails fast. Very helpful! U have a deadline 2 complete chapters. No midterm only 6 hr final. It covers the chapters that u did. If u plan on taking his class I will sale u the book cheap.. contact me mavelar78 at yahoo
Lectures are reasonably short and clear (with included transcript/slides) for essential material but there is a lot of reading and related assignments. Quizzes however, are filled with pointless questions to make sure you read the material and then read it again to confirm the answer, this is further complicated by a poorly organized textbook.
Took this course online (Fall 2015) & 100% recommend! -Responds in a timely manner -Very helpful when you ask -Extra credit opportunities -Includes power points and videos (very helpful) -Quiz for lectures, text book, and a reflection after every chapter *Make sure you read & have great note-taking skills*
A very good professor that cares about his class and his students. He will help if you need it. To do poorly in this class you must go out of your way to be an exceptionally horrible student.
He only knows how to lecture, but doesn't quite understand how to get his students to want to Participate. He is too enthusiastic and usually answers his own questions, plus gives a ridiculous amount of HW. This guy will make you consider dropping out of college. 1 class 100+ slide presentations. Very inefficient teaching method, but he does try.
8-10 weekly hw quizzes. But they're not very long. everything, including final, is open book/notes/lecture ppt. Thought the txtbook was a bit out of date, so wasn't as interesting. Just read the txtbook as you're doing the quizzes and you'll do fine. It's just mainly busywork.
Prof Lilly is a great & responsible for his students. Tips for prospective students who are going to take BIZ law class. 1 GET READY TO READ. 2 Generally speaking, Law is kind of boring and wordy and difficult to understand. 3 understand the concepts rather than the details. ( too much to remember it) 4 study hard on his notes. Have fun with it.
Lecures take more than one hour and for the lecture quizes he gives you like 2 hours and its not much time for 70 questions ! Trust me this class wont fit your schedule because sometimes he gives you two lectures each week
Get ready to not have sundays anymore
Professor Lilly is very knowledgeable about business. The good thing is that he makes his students work for the good grade and he gives them opportunities to pass and do well in his class. I went from a D- to C within weeks! The first midterm is hard but the second midterm is a test that will boost your grade. DO take him! Now!
Such a hard class. However, I'd take it again with Mr. Lilly because you learn so much in his class. Yes, you have to put a lot of work to it but it's so worth it. He let's you retake midterm and after completing the required steps I managed to turn my grade around. He's tough - but he's good. We're in college and it shouldn't be easy.
His test are pretty hard and he gives you lots of homework each week. Say bye to your Sundays, coz you will do the homework whole day.
If you want to have some free time on your weekends don't take his class. It's very difficult class, he gives you lots of homework, sometimes he gives you 2 chapters for a week. I don't recomend him
Very good professor. Get ready to read, he makes the class interesting with real life cases.
I like his way to teach business things. There were a lot of videos and other stuff, nice class atmosphere. I think if you give attention you can pass his class easily. He is very respected you will like his lectures
Fantastic teacher. Do what he tells you to do and you will do fine in the class
took online bus10. if u do everything, u will get an A but it cud be lots of work as a class at de anza cuz ur so used to with easy grading.. just do the connect (online textbook) and u will be fine.. easy A but gotta work for it. It was just a lot for me cuz i got so lazy for my last quarter..
Fantastic teacher. Very passionate about his class and his students. I enjoyed his class and would take him again. I learned a lot in his class and he was one of my favorite classes I have ever taken. He truly is a brilliant instructor.
One of the easiest classes ever. The class is split between in class and the online portion. Both are really easy to do. There is in class group activities every day which is easy points. He is harsh on attendance you have to be in class 70% of the time otherwise you will get dropped from class (counts by mins). He grades super easy. Love him.
He's a one of a kind teacher who is full of enthusiasm and has passion in teaching his subject. Homework can be many but if u do them regularly it is easy to catch up and finish it on time. He gives amazing lectures and has the ability to answer almost any business related questions for him. Overall my favourite professor/teacher so far.
This class is not worth it. Took it alone and the amount of work is ridiculous. The online textbook is extremely expensive and the content can't be easily searched online.
Easy A, if I had time I would have loved to take his class in person but unfortunately I didn't. However, the online class is intensive in work but as long as you manage your time it's an easy A.
One of the worst classes I have ever taken. The work load is crazy and hectic. Quizzes and tests every week And towards the end of the course he crammed in so many tests and assignments that made my life super hard to manage. I would definitely not recommend his (online) class (Super long midterms and finals)
Do all the work you have to do or at least try to and you will pass his class. However, you should study really hard on the midterm and the final.
Too many homework. You need to do quizzes, watch videos and answer tons of exercises weekly. It was my first online class and the worst ever. If you don't have time, don't take this class. Also, the content started interesting but became boring. So many things that it's impossible to memorize. Too hard. I don't recommend it!
Ok so the main thing about Lilly's online class is that you have to grind out the hw as fast as possible. Since he opens the entire course on the first day, you have to just start going through each reading and try to get ahead of the weekly deadlines. DO NOT FOLLOW THE WEEKLY CURRICULUM. its too much reading. skim read and take notes for tests.
This was my first online class ever and I took it over the summer. It is pretty intensive but I liked how organized he kept everything on Canvas, and all the grading was straight forward. I would definitely take his other business classes because I liked the structure, even if it was very intensive. Lots of reading but tests are open note!
For spring online, each week, there's readings/reviews on the readings, vocab quizzes, exam prep, exam, and a video quiz. Near the last part of the quarter, it becomes 2 chapters a week. There's 2 midterms and 3 actual final tests. You do everything yourself, but it's a workload.
super easy class, just make sure you turn in the weekly quizzes at the right time and everything's from the textbook or his lectures so super doable, just stay on top of your stuff!
Took for Business Law, was very happy with my experience. The course covers a great deal of content, so while it might not be the easiest A, it's enjoyable to learn so much about law and see the passion and excitement he has for the subject. Take lots of notes, but it's a fun lil ride
I took this class online. The class is a huge amount of work; a lot of work every week. The final is a 6-hour test. You read it right, 6 hours long! Clearly, you can finish it faster but it's a long final and you will most likely use 5-6 hours to finish. I found Mr. Lilly to be rigid, very mechanical, and totally uncaring. Stay away from him.
Even though there is lots of homework the structure of this class is very clear and easy to follow. I really enjoyed the course material and learned a lot. Mr. Lilly is accessible, but essentially leaves you to complete all assignments on your own by by the end of the week. If you want to learn about business I recommend this class!
Easy A.
If you know how to take his tests then it wouldn't be very hard, but just letting you know that I tried my best to get an A and ended up with a B. Everything is open book and notes.
Mr. Lilly is a great teacher, I would 100% take another class with him. Dont listen to the comments saying its too hard, these are just people who dont want to learn. He goes out of his way to help you outside of class but its up to you if you want a good teacher-student relationship. He even wrote my college recommendations.
Prof Byrons fully online class is very well organized. Its a lot of repetitive work but its not bad at all. For each chapter, youd watch 3-4 lecture videos (in parts), take 3-4 lecture quizzes, 1 vocab quiz, 1 court cases quiz, and 2-3 everything else quiz. His lecture videos + slides are all incredibly thorough + everything is open note!!
Super caring about his students and just wants them to genuinely learn from the class
He uses SmartBook, which is helpful on its own. 2 Midterm, 1 Final, the exams are long, proctored but open books. Just read, do the weekly smartbook lessons and weekly quizzes and you'll be fine. He has attendance policy tho, he will drop you if you miss several weeks. Just do the work and easy A. I barely tried and I got it.
YOU NEED TO WATCH THE VIDEOS. Notes are provided but watch the videos because some infos are lectures only and fill in infos not on the lecture slides. He's very involved and caring, will always try to help if you reach out. I got a C but all me, not him. Just put in the work, and you will get high grade. Exams are long and proctored, but open book
I love Professor Lilly. I even reached out to him twice to thank him for all the detailed instructions he provides in his videos. Yes, there is a ton of work but get it done and you will pass the class. I accidentally submitted a quiz 2 mins in and he allowed me to retake it. He cares about his students. 100% would take. him again.

Very good lecturer and the class definitely left me with a better understanding of the course material, would recommend.
I found the class very challenging, time consuming, and educational. The way that he teaches it really helped me to arrange my thought processes in a new law driven way. I also enjoyed your bits of humor. Very responsive, actually helps you learn how to apply the law. He especially takes his time on topics that are relevant to most people.
Assignments time consuming, do them and you get a good grade 3 Exams open book, reasonable difficulty Text book $60 Lecture's a piece of art yet need effort to understand. I needed to stop and think Good for people who knew nothing about business Professor is helpful and in touch, hardworking person
He is a very passionate teacher, and it was an online and an in person hybrid. There were extra credit quizzes in every in person class that helps your grade and review the material. It's very lecture heavy, a lot of quizzes every week. Consider if you have a lot of time or you know you can absorb a lot of info quickly, before taking his class.
This class takes a lot of work weekly reading, multiple lectures, and so many quizzes! Take notes and put the work in to receive a good grade. This was the most organized, neat, and informative course to go through. Easy deadlines and clear expectations. I would definitely take this course if you are a fan of just multiple choice and quizzes/tests.
The class turned out to be really hard: very detailed quizzes based on a book that is mostly history business. If you take it, be prepared to take several quizzes a week (some of which might be up to 70 questions). The quizzes are also very detailed regarding lectures, so watch them carefully. If you like tests and details, take the class.
You have to keep up with the weekly reading and assignments. The book was digital, which made the tests easier because you could search for key terms. Professor Lilly gave lectures that helped put the reading into perspective and kept the class updated on overall progress.
If you are taking his course as an asynchronous course because you have a busy schedule, then don't. The structure of his homework is clear but he will assign up to 9 very detailed assignments every week. Be sure to pay attention to the set of up to four 30-40 minute lectures he posts every week.
Mr. Lilly is awesome! I learned so much from his lectures and they are very engaging. Fair grading criteria.
I love this class and how Professor Lilly put it together. A lot of work with the extra credit. Normal work if you don't do the extra credit. After reading the chapter, I would then do the extra credit for the chapter. I enjoyed all the work and the knowledge I gained from this class. Professor Lilly is great! Do the work, and you will succeed.
Honestly a lot of work for an online class but if you WANT to learn this class is good. For people taking the class because it has good reviews, it is NOT free. You need to dedicate 30 mins a day minimum or around 3 hours a week just to keep up, not even any extra credit. That's just to get all the work in, studying and anythingelsewilltakelonger.
If you want to know what is the hell, take his class :)
It's really like New World Order what he taught.
Took business law with him. Lectures are not mandatory, but are strongly encouraged to be attended, as they include supplemental(not required) material, extra credit, and good explanation of larger concepts. Not hard, but pay attention. no HW but its take home quizzes. extra credit come in the form of quizzes, and the final has an online alt.
great instructor who is passionate about the class he teaches. is easy to ask questions and will keep you engaged in class
Great prof. I had trouble taking the final and he let me take it after the due date. He graded fair and was very flexible on email. strongly recommend him!
Everything is through McGrawhill. Each week you have Vocabulary Matching,Multiple Choice Quiz, and the Chapter Test.He also has a lecture video that comes with a quiz for that as well.He has all the assignments uploaded from the first day of the quarter. He offers extra credit as well. Two Midterms and one final. Do the work and you will pass.
Professor Lilly's class is a lot of work, but worth it. The lectures are engaging and the grading is fair. Staying on top of the readings and assignments is key. Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for quick study prep.
Countless errors in the curriculum from both Byron and McGraw, make sure you argue every point you missed! Lazy educators can dictate your future. He is one of the better teachers here though but his educator EGO still is your largest threat to your future.
Great professor, but lots of homework each week. Up to 10 quizzes per week, usually totaling around 150-200 points. Extra credit is offered in class and the midterm and final are only based on the study guides. Definitely a caring professor and wants you to succeed which is why he assigns a lot of work. Don't take this class if you don't have time!
since its a hybrid class, there's 7-14 open note canvas quizzes due each week but not hard if you watch lecture videos--- takes long time. recommend taking notes directly on canvas slides--helps for quizzes. exams are very easy and option to take online instead which can be very helpful, lectures are long, extra credit points arent that useful
Overall this class was really easy before the mid term but after the mid term especially before finals is where it gets super difficult. I would recommend not skipping any chapters or quizzes as it does drastically affect your grade. So just keep up with all your work having a set schedule and you'll be just fine
ASYNCH - No Camera No Lockdown Browser - Super ChatGPTable - $60 McGraw Hill Requirement with canvas. Here's the weekly schedule: 3 vocab Qs, 1 True/False Q, 1-2 MCQ, 1-3 Lecture Video Q. OPEN NOTE OPEN TEXTBOOK. I learned on my own, but I didn't learn much since I just onlined my way through the course. Highly recommend for credit or major. GLHF.
Literally asking for way to much. Acts like we don't have other classes and work we need to get done. Yes I passed with a good grade but it was so annoying having to take like 10 tests EVERY week. it just got to the point where it was draining. be aware it is open notes but still so much work.
This is one of the most educational classes I have taken yet and I 10/10 recommend. Test heavy however that is all you do and it is such an easy A.
There are lot of assignments so be prepared for heavy work load. Clear instructions about material and grading. Very good in responding. I'd recommend this class if you're looking for a structured course with clear expectations and a professor who knows their material well. If you are on top of the work. You can excel in his class.
