Very good teacher and will help you through a very hard class.
unfair grading. unclear teaching. too much talk about unnecessary & unrelated topics. no need to attend class since he does not teach or know what he is teaching...
the best teacher...he graded no less than a C+, exams were easy and he practically tells you what is on the exam. He curves well for the final grade and lectures entertainly giving insight into his own personal experience.
5 quizzes, 1 10 % presentation at end of year, and a final. All you have to do is read chapters in the book during the semester and study his practice final. Good professor.
easy teacher... lowest grade he gives if you don't withdraw is a c+! he teaches 2 mandatory required classes, so don't take him for fun, but if you need a class and he's teaching it and it's open, stop reading this and register now!! 5 quizzes (optional!)+final+10%presentation+homework! C+ or higher
good professor..good sense of humor...don;t take him if you're going to just play around he is serious about accounting...he will help you if you need and ask for it...
Great professor. Very easy as well. Love to integrate personal stories within his lectures, so entertaining but you need to read and ask questions cuz he may just run thru the chapters, but overall easy. 4 quizzes(drops lowest if you ask)xtra credit, presentation, final exam...never fails anyone
Don't believe the hype...Does grade fairly but is no joke! All of the personal related stories has nothing to do with what he's teaching. Was told he grades fairly but was taken advantage of in the past now he's a lot tougher!
He seems like a good guy. It's not an easy class but he makes it as understandable as possible. 5 quizzes, midterm, final, 10% presentation in groups, optional extra credit. Fair grader.
He is the one to take for intermediate accounting, much easier than other professor. Yea he does go fast but he will clarify the topic for you. I learned alot and got a good grade. Im taking him for Intermediate 2 also. Highly recommended if you care about your GPA
An unfair grader, teaches nothing, so defensive for unfair grading. I had him for acct I and learns nothing. Better to read the book by yourself, no need to attended class. Group project get you out nothing. You need takes a day off to make presentation if u work full time. He does no work, but tries to make you feel that u don't do the work.
He tells you stories for half the class. Does not teach, and if he does, its unclear. Ask him a simple question and he'll give you a background story for 30 mins before he somewhat answering it. By that time, you'll have forgotten what you asked.
i really wanted to take this class but he just ruined my interest.. he's so unclear and unfair. he barely teaches, just talks about his own stories and jumps from topic to topic. do not take this class! i made a big mistake
It's true he does tell stories in class...but people ACC is boring to listen to for hours...enjoy it! Makes you work and earn your grade but definitely worth it. The ones who complain are the ones who need to be spoon fed everything.
this guy should not be a teacher. he spends most of the time telling stories than teaching. his stories are interesting, but they don't help us learn!
Easy prof in that he doesnt assign hw. Fail his quiz no problem, just do the extra credit. Final is hard, b/c his review does not reflect whats going to be on the final. Need to study cause his he doesnt help too much. He will not fail you though as long as you put effort.
I enjoyed Prof Stubbs class. So what that he tells stories every now & then, enjoy it. He made us work hard but it was worth it...I learned something!!!
Easy grader but you will not learn much unless you like independent study. He does not go over everything what he requires. You will learn a lot about real life things issues (he tells a lot of stories) but most of it not related to what you study in class anyways. I felt like I waisted 3hrs a week by going to class.
I liked Prof Stubbs. His stories do sometimes go nowhere but he truly cares about his students, but you have to show that you care too. His quizzes are super tricky, sometimes 1 or 2 words will totally change the answer, but he curves pretty well. You do have to read and study the book though-the chapters are super long w/so much detail. Great Guy
Prof Stubbs realy knows acct but realy sucks at teaching it. Mostly everyone passes but does not grade fairly. took class with friend and we had same grades on quiz, final, attendance and HW. He got a B+ and I a C+. If all u want is a mediocre grade then take this mediocre teacher. !BEWARE! PRACTICE FINAL IS NOT EVEN A GLIPMPSE OF FINAL EXAM!
I've had better profs than this guy. Grading sys's unfair. Quizes count so little while cumulative final counts almost 50%. Practice Q's hardly appear on tests. Wants u to know everything but doesn't go over all. Didn't learn much from him. Expect independent study. HW's are due before class!
He is horrible!!!! He does not teach AT ALL!!! I learned nothing about accounting but can tell you all about his family and what he does for a living. He is a good person don't get me wrong but his teaching style (or lack of it) sucks. If you can take anybody else but him.
Waste of time and money. If you want to learn the material do not register for his class. Prof. needs to remember that the students are there to learn about accounting. If we knew the material we would not register for the course course. Please teach, that's all we ask.
Taking stubbs was a total waste of money. He teach me Intermediate Accounting II and I did not learn anything because he didn't teach anything. I am an overall very good student and would have wished I had taken the other professor. Because he didn't teach anything I struggled for my CPA exam because most of the items on CPA is Intermediate Acct.
He is the most useless, clueless Intermediate Professor. He cant even solve his own problems from the book on the board. AVOID HIM...he cant teach or doesn't know how to..just talks about his life experience which wont be on the CPA and basically grades people on favoritism. If you really want to learn take someone else..
He is absolutely the worst professor in the world. You learn nothing, and get tested on everything. He gave us a huge review packet for the final and none of it was actually on the final. Makes accounting majors completely unprepared for real life
Such a horrible professor - can't explain anything right - reviews are absolutely useless - exams are pretty tough - glad he left or else would've been stuck taking him for Intermediate II
Stubbs is a joke. He rambles on about nonsense. He doesn't prepare you at all for the exams. Didn't learn much in this class and I certainly would not recommend Stubbs to anyone. Although he is friendly and somewhat lenient with grades (sometimes)...he is a terrible teacher.
Stubbs is a great person to know but he really needs to put more effort into teaching. If you take his class you will probably end up with a C or B, sucks if you have a 4.0
I got an A in his class but it was very challenging. YOU HAVE TO READ THE BOOK COVER TO COVER TO GET A GOOD GRADE. Average grade in his class is a 53. He assigns 3 papers. they are not hard but i didnt expect to write essays in accounting lol take someone else because there are plenty of other easier professors that teach intermediate accounting.
If you looking for a easy A in accounting or prepare for the CPA. he's NOT your guy!. tho he does have great stories and life experiences, none of it matters the exams are hard the homework is intense. but he's a good person none the less. just know u have to WORK HARD! or be a Genius to get make it through a semester of Stubbs
He is definitely hard. Probably one the hardest professors I've had so far at Rutgers. But it's worth taking his class if you like self studies. Exams are HARD as hell no doubt but i guess accounting is all about self studying. He talks a lot of crap but he is a nice guy. If want an EASY A & don't care about learning anything, DON'T TAKE HIM..!!!
True, he can be tough. I kinda had to take him by default considering he was teaching 4 of the 5 sections of intermediate 1. Expect to read the book cover to cover. He loves those T/F questions which require page long explanations for each question. Reads off the slides, so ur better off reading the book anyways. Good luck if you're taking him!
Will keep you busy with home work and test like there is no tomorrow.
Stubbs is tough teacher to take. I would advise to read the book and do the home works. That is the only way to pass his course. It sounds simple but I would put 80 percent of my time into reading and getting read for his exams Papers are important for his class too. Just go to him if you have trouble. He is willing to talk
Intermediate accounting is a tough class. Even if he was the most articulate person in the world, teaching from the slides alone does no good. You have to read and cram. I went to his office hours to talk about a grading mistake he made on my first exam and he gave me back those points without contesting. Be easy on him and he'll be easy on you.
His class is intermediate accounting, not "What you need to know to pass CPA", so he will cover anything and everything across chapters though he may not always say "you need to know this for the CPA". Read the book well and i see know reason why you would get anything less than a B. It is what it is.
goes off on a million tangents. i know so much about his life. difficult class but his curve saves everyone. even if you got a 50 on all three exams but you ace the final you can get a B. He doesn't like to fail anyone. 3 papers, 3 midterms, hw, stubbs/tax competition. must read the book in order to pass. difficult but do-able.
Professor Stubbs is very inspiring for those of you who actually want to one day get your CPA take him. Only those of you who are hard workers and willing to put in your time take him. It will change your way of seeing things.
This class is tough, 3 exams, read and memorize the book for T/F, the accounting problems to solve in the exam are usually what does in the board, so take good notes writing what he says, online hw somewhat helped me but thats only understand the easy stuff. He likes to bunch up different concepts in solving the problems
All three exams are 50% T/F which is why many fail the exams. He doesn't really teach unless you ask him questions. I highly recommend that you start a study group (4-5) people and teach each other. (You will learn more this way) The final is passable and curves. Good Luck.
A lot of work. 3 midterms, a final, 3 topic papers, hws and a case competition. However, i found him to be a very approachable guy who will help you out if you show interest. Another important thing, study before going to class or you'll be lost since he expects you to know the material. His curves are crazy, since he doesn't like to fail anyone.
Great Professor, but trust me you will know by the end of this course if you still will want to continue with accounting. Exams are hard, so even if you don't do so hot on them still stick in the class but do all of the other work to.
You'll have to study on your own if you want to make the best out of his lectures. If you have him, don't drop the class if you're discouraged at first. Ive seen people who failed all exams, including the final yet ended up with a C due to the curve. After all the hard work, this is the most satisfying A i've received!
Wow. What can I say..very tough professor. You will need to dedicate time and sacrifice yourself to pass this class. You need to read the entire chapters by yourself. exams are very hard. open ended questions and problems. you have to do a case comp in from of real companies. But overall high quality professor. very helpful you will find out!
During his lectures he moves all around the chapter and doesn't have a very linear teaching style. While you can learn a few things from his lecture you HAVE to read and study the textbook as if you don't have a teacher. I'm not sure whether I learned because he taught me or I taught myself. He's a decent and caring professor, but I've had better.
Had no choice. Needed to graduate. Annoying papers that require research. Does not teach AT ALL and can't even see what he writes on board. Did amazing in interm 1, but failed all the exams for interm 2. Asks TF essay questions on exams... that's not what accounting is about. Nothing he teaches in class is on the exams. Wanted to change my major
This class is not easy but if you make the effort you will pass. His lectures are helpful and he goes over practice problems that are similar to those that show up on the exams. The exams are not easy so studying from his lectures and from Wiley will help you big time.
Stubbs is a really hard professor--he definitely grades hard. One tiny mistake on an exam, like an incorrect number, and you don't get any credit. Doesn't give partial credit on exams. But if you show him that you care and attend his office hours (by appointment) then he'll be more likely to push your grade up (A LOT). Gives some extra credit.
nice guy, tells a lot of pointless stories which would be fine if they weren't in the middle of an example 3exams hardest thing u will ever see read book for 6 TF questions & practice from hw nd wgroup to get understanding of how to do the problems papers not bad-require balance of time generous wpartial credit can pass don't take if possible
Class: take notes as best as u can, go! he passes around an attendance sheet, ask questions even if u think they are the stupidest questions ever trust me everyone else in the class needs u to ask too! if he repeats it a lot take note of it bc it will more than likely end up on the exam, hard to take notes in his class bc he's super disorganized
Exams: 3 exams, the second and third are basically one after the other, not much time to study for exam 3, 6 True False questions which require an explaination whether its true or false, if u don't know guess tf then write ANY 3 reasons, if u have nothing to lose u can still get points, study wiley hw and ur notes for the 2 open-ended probs, STUDY
Topical Papers: requires a lot of research, give urself ATLEAST 2 or 3 days to write this paper, 3 papers, assigned after each exam, have to read an article then answer 2 questions about the topic of the article but u have to use outside infosources, u will be over it but make sure u proof read, 1.5 spacing 11 font don't forget! they are not bad
Case Competiton: Mandatory, u get to pick ur group so pick wisely, he will keep forgetting to post the case so keep reminding him and no if he takes a long time it will still be due the day he told u at the beginning of the semester, do it, show up, breath, present and be free! cases usually aren't that hard or bad so make sure u do it, 5% of grade
Extra Credit: GO TO EVERY EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITY HE GIVES YOU, MISS ONE FINE, BUT GO TO EVERY SINGLE ONE YOU CAN, he gives u a LOT of chances, idk how much the extra credit is worth but in this class every tiny bit counts so go! You can pass! You will cry, break down and contemplate ur future as an accountant but YOU WILL PASS, SURVIVE ND BE FINE
I do not like him. He goes on tangents that hinder you from learning. The concepts shouldn't be hard, but he makes them difficult. Take a different professor. He gives homework every week on WileyPlus. His topical papers are difficult; who even has to write a paper in accounting? His lectures explain nothing, but he takes attendance.
He makes you to work hard and study very hard. You have to read, READ, AND READ until you get the chapter. Even small details are important. The chapters weren't easy for me, therefore I would read each of them twice minimum. Still my average exams grade is 52. Oh, another thing. Accounting has to be your passion! You have to learn on your own.
Stubbs is not for everyone, but if you're planning on being an accountant there are not many better. He has a wealth of experience and knows what you will need to pass the CPA exam. Test averages are in the 60s but there is a decent curve. If you actually want to learn accounting he's a great teacher, but not good if just fulfilling a requirement.
You will learn
make sure to read each chapter 3 times and if you need any help, go to youtube and search for professor farhat's videos, they are way more helpful than listening to him. for his topical papers, just bs it and get an 8. Why do we need to write papers for accounting in the first place??? his tests are true and false with explanations so write a lot
why are we writing papers for accounting??? true and false questions, really??? is that what accounting truly is about??? please dont take this guy if you have a choice. i didnt have a choice because he was teaching all sections. the class is so hard so ready to memorize the chapters.
listen to me and go watch professor farhat's videos on youtube. he helped me pass this course. you wont learn anything. 3 topical papers and true or false exams. ridiculous!!!
Avoid at all costs!!!
Lectures dont matter but attendance does so go to class. Old exams are the best way to study because they are usually similar. His exams consist of a few questions that are each heavily weighted and 2 open endeds. When in doubt choose false (on exams) and make sure you just strictly answer the question. He grades each student based on how he feels.
This class was extremely tough. Classes test avg was around 55. The papers & hw are grade boosters! The only reason I may pass this class is getting 10's on my papers. His tests are 6 T/F and 2 open-ended. Write a lot. You will get credit. Take notes during class! He is not a great professor. You will need to teach yourself.
Professor Stubbs is a great person! If you have the chance to speak to him in his office hours, don't hesitate to do so. The class may seem hard but if you a)read/understand the slides b) practice the problems in each chapter, you'll be prepared for his exams! Cramming is your worst enemy here, so give yourself time to study. HW/Papers help a lot!!
most of the class did not pass. won't ever take again
Hes blunt and will tell you the course is hard so MAKE SURE YOU ASK QUESTIONS. The exams are multiple choice but dont let that fool you, they're quite hard. Also dont lie and say you understand when you dont, Ask questions, hes there to help and he wants to but he cant read your mind. Speak up if no one else is, itll definitely help.
Professor Stubbs was not bad at all! I found him to be a very pleasing character. His lectures are a little boring, but he is very knowledgeable and seasoned, so I enjoyed learning from him. Tests are multiple choice, but they're not so easy!! Read the book and ask questions!!!! Graded by HW and 3 exams.
Hardest class i have ever taken. Class average was around 60. He sits in his chair and scribbles at the corner of the board to explain problems. He never responds to emails. First C I have gotten in my entire life even though i studied way more than i did for my other classes. Stay away from his class!!!
I enjoying these the class. The best class I ever had and fun. Do all of the homework for this class and show up to class and you will pass. The exams are hard, dont expect to get higher grade, but he will pass you. Do all of the homework and you will pass this class.
I dont write reviews, but this professor was so bad, that here I am. IF YOU LOVE YOURSELF DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Nothing he does in class or tells you to study are on the exams, nothing in the textbook, the slideshows, or the homework. He doesnt explain anything, & insults you if asked a question. The course avg was 55 & HE FAILED THE ENT. CLASS
I took this class my first semester. He is a cool guy but he is EXTREMELY difficult. Lectures really don't help and the best bet is to read the textbook. I honestly never took a difficult class like this in my life and I absolutely couldn't deal with how he teaches. I don't recommend.
I saw all the bad reviews, and some of them are not true. I took the professor online, and the class is difficult. You need to pay attention in class and always ask questions. You will pass if you do all your homework even you fail the exams. Make sure you pass the final exam, and you will pass this class.
he has an unpredictable attitude and will get irritated if you ask a question. funnily enough, he says that we shouldnt be afraid to ask questions. his teaching style bores the class. doesnt seem to want to make the effort to make it interesting. ive had to teach myself because its hard to understand anything he says, and its not easy.
He's okay enough, but his lectures are hard to understand. You really have to study hard to pass his exams, and make sure you do the homework. You most likely won't pass without doing it.
One of the worse professors I have ever had. He does not care about the students and he NEVER tells you what to study for exams. He tells you to review everything from lectures but it is too much and he never specifies what to look out for. There are pop quizzes!!! The worse. He responds angrily when one asks questions. Made me regret my major!!!
In order to pass Intermediate Accounting 2, take this course with another professor. You have been warned.
This was the most frustrating course I have ever taken. His lectures are incoherent and he would flip out on the class for asking questions, and then would wonder why nobody asked questions when no one knew a solution in class. Calls people stupid, doesn't prepare you for the exams whatsoever, by far the worst prof at RBS, if not all of Rutgers.
I am taking him right now and I have never regretting anything more in my life. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!! classes will put you to sleep. attendance is mandatory! he does not doctors notes, even if it's related to covid. his exams have nothing to do with the lectures or the textbook. if you wanna pass this class, take any other prof
Definitely a hard class. Tests are difficult and towards the middle of the course, the professor began giving pop quizzes. Taking another professor is preferable but if you must take him I'd recommend starting the homework at least a day before the due date, reading the slides and book ahead of each lesson, and studying from the slides AND book.
just took him and he is the worst. don't waste your money on him. take another prof. he will constantly mix up your grades with someone else's and also... DIDN'T MAKE AN ANNOUNCMENT FOR THE RIGHT TIME OF THE FINAL! so I ended up spending more money taking the class again during the winter with another prof... and got an A.
The professor is mediocre at best. He can be mean but only when he feels threatened by a student. He basically reads off of slides and sometimes will do homework problems with the class. Overall he's not the best teacher but certainly not the worst, you have to know the material.
By far the worst professor I have ever taken at Rutgers.
One of the worst professors I've ever had. He reads everything off the PowerPoint in a monotone voice, and it's hard to keep focus. For your mental health and time, take this course with another professor if you can.
THE WORST PROFESSOR AT RUTGERS. They should do something about it. how are students going to pass if HE does NOT teach.
Teacher does not teach at all. Every class consists of him giving a pop quiz on a subject the class never went over, and then skimming over the chapters he expects us to master out of class. This class should be online at this point. Whenever presented a question, he uses snarky comments to establish "dominance" in his classroom. It aint that deep.
Do not waste your money! Does not know how to grade, does not know how to teach! NOT WORTH IT! He is the reason accounting students are switching their major.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this class since it was an intro course, but during the course, I felt like didn't understand anything at all. His teaching methods were not the best and he would read off the slides without explaining them. He expects all students to be accounting majors which made it even harder for me to follow along.
Dude knows his stuff but sucks at teaching. Literally reads word for word off the powerpoint and gives little to no explanations (Even saying little is an exaggeration). No prep for exams or quizzes, just goes through pearson problems that look nothing like the exams or quizzes. Pop quizzes and counts attendance. Dont do this to yourself
Didn't give much thought of choosing another section because it was too late. WORST DECISION EVER!!! His teaching style did not help me at all, he definitely has the knowledge but does not know how to teach. Final exam avg. was 60% and no curve was given. No joke this class gave me so much anxiety and i'm not even an accounting major.
Worst professor at Rutgers. As an A student, I ended up with a C+ in his class. No matter how much you study, this course is extremely hard to pass. He doesn't actually teach—just reads straight from PowerPoint slides. If you prioritize your mental health, avoid taking this professor's class. Be ready for a struggle if you decide to enroll.
I don't know till yet how exam is structured
Had this professor freshman spring semester. You WILL be tested on material he won't cover and it won't be on the study material. He'll say to use the dynamic study modules but don't believe him. Also pop quizzes on subjects you have to read ahead. Even if everything is multiple choice, if you want to actually LEARN something, leave.
This class was a real challenge, but Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for preparing for the exams. The lectures can be dry, but engaging with the material and using resources like the textbook and study tools made all the difference.
Professor Stubbs is impossible. Despite being more than two months into the semester, he refused to release our grades, and although attendance is mandatory, he showed up to class 45 minutes late and moved our midterm (three weeks away) to our following lecture with less than two days' notice. He does not teach; you will be your own professor.
Prof. Stubbs is one of the worst professors in the whole accounting department. He speeds through lectures without caring if the class is left behind as he just does his job. He gets super irritated when someone tries to ask him even a simple question as he feels we're looking for an argument. Would also blame his TA for everything that goes wrong.
Do not take this teacher. I thought I was fine since I was a 4.0 student but honestly I would rather die than take him again. If you are stuck with him wait until next semester.
He died may 2025.
