Very interesting class. Have to take good notes, but little reading and HW.

A great teacher. A bit quirky, tires to be funny and make class fun. Gives lots of extra credit. Lets you use a note card on mid terms. Quizzes are usually easy and only about 9 homework assignments that you can email to him and he will correct.

A MUST TAKE!! take notes and do the little reading that is required and u'll be more than fine, lots of extra credit offered, note cards on midterms and final. make the subject extremely clear, more than willing to explain again and help students

Professor Hale is a great professor. He clearly explains the course material and you do have homework assignments regularly. There is a mid term, final, and occassionally there is a quiz. The quizzes are multiple choice and T/F and he goes over what is on them. Overall, a good class.

He is the nicest teacher I ever had! He is so clear and will explain things until you understand. You would be lucky if every teacher were as nice as him. The class makes you think critically, and Hale makes it fun!!! But if you don't like to think, don't take this class.

He is a great professor.I was not looking forward to taking this class in the beginning but he made this critical thinking class tolerable.I wouldnt have wanted any other professor.There are quizes,2 exams,homework,and extra credit.He is always willing to help during his office hours.Hes a Nice man.

Very Good teacher. He gives plenty of extra credit and checks your homework before you turn it in if you email it to him. Material is not hard at akk, just gets confusing sometimes. I recommend him.

Very good about explaining things. Excellent teacher for this subject. Gives homework and quizzes but it helps for the midterms. If you miss an assignment theres extra credit.

awesome teacher. wont hesitate to explain something 3,4,5 times if need be. he looks directly into your eyes to make sure you understand every step he's explaining. very patient, very smart. It seems as though he loves nothing more than seeing a student understand and learn. i recommend him!

He is the best teacher I've ever had. He gives you study guide for each exam and there is always extra credits available. I highly recommend him.

Great Professor. Thought Philosophy was going to be a drag since I take it once a week, but he actually makes it quite easy to sit there forever. Easy to understand and is always there to help you. Very accesable by email. Take hime, especially if its for GE.

you will some homeworks. but they are good for preparing mid-term exams. Personally he is nice. it will not so hard !

I took his 4 unit PHIL 100 class. 3 hours and 45 minutes of class would have been hell with any other professor. He is very clear and always willing to clarify and help you as it can be confusing. Knows everyone by name by the 3rd or 4th class. Take him, especially if it is for your GE. Always uses up the whole class, but makes it interesting.

Attendance is not mandatory but should be, if you do not go then you will be lost. He is very helpful, very nice. There are 4 quizzes and homework almost everyday. He lets you work in groups for everything. Recommended professor for philosophy!!!

Extremely helpful and easy-going! Allows 4x6" cheatsheets to be used during tests...very understanding of difficulties and eager to help. I'd definitely recommend him.

great teacher. elucidates his thoughts well. he is clear on what he expects from the class. he engages the class well and encourages class participation, which facilitates the learning process. he's a bit strict when it comes to attendance, but that's not something to be frowned upon. he's also nice and easygoing.

His material is very easy to understand. He is patient and has very good attitude, dresses well every day (I bet he read lots of GQ magazine LOL). willing to help every student. Quizs and exams are not hard if you go to class. index card is allowed for exams, only two exams in the whole semester. give extra credit. take him!!! well done professor!

the class is pretty interesting. its like math but using words! attendance is not mandatory but if you dont go to class you will not understand the material. as long as you pay attention in class & do the easy homework assignments you should do fine! he is always willing to help you if you have questions!

AMAZING teacher. He wants you to learn the material and have an opinion on it. Loves teaching and loves his students. One of, if not the best professors at CSUN. If you want to learn and stretch your mind, take him! There is reading and midterm/final is long but it's worth it all! Sweetest man and will help with anything you have questions on.

Professor Hale is an awesome teacher! He is extraordinarily helpful and truly wants his students to learn and get a good grade. It's an extremely easy class as long as you do the homework and pay attention in class! TAKE THIS CLASS!!

Expected the class to be difficult, however, it was much easier. Explanations are straight forward and clear. Homework can be done in groups. He allows a cheat sheet for the 3 major tests, however, I doubt you would need it if you do all the homework well and paid attention to the lectures. Book is necessary for doing class work.

Really good professor. i recommend going to class if you really want to get a good grade and understand the material. he works with you on your hw in class and basically gives you the answers. lets you have a 4x6 card cheat sheet during the tests.nice guy, too.

take this class with prof Hale! he is a really good, nice teacher and helps you through everything. He helps with hw during class and is very open to answering questions. He goes over everything during class and lets you have a 4x6 card on exams. Take his class if you want to actually understand the material and get a good grade in the class.

TAKE THIS PROF. easy class. easy material. if you dont understand, he helps you until you do understand. no need for outside of class studying. he gives u practice finals and cheat sheets.

AMAZING! The course content is difficult but he makes it easy and fun. If you go to class you'll get it for sure. DO THE HOMEWORK! It's easy and helps a lot. He has short quizzes that he prepares you for and his tests are challenging but reasonable. Most organized and well structured class I've taken in a while. TAKE IT! :) Oh you NEED the book.

Professor Hale is THE BEST!!! Honestly, if it wasn't for him, I would have not passed his class with an A. He';s super helpful, goes out of his way to help his students and gives out a lot of extra credit! He's my favorite and I highly recommend him to all the students trying to take Logic GE classes! take him for Phil 100! You won't regret it =)

You have to go to class to know what is going on. He is super helpful and nice. You can ask him anything. He gives you exactly what will be on the tests and the homework isn't bad its good practice and doesn't take long. I really recommend him. I didnt think i did that well and i got an A! Also you have to get the book!!

This is a very easy class if you have the book and do the homework. His lectures can seem long and boring at times but you will learn a lot. There are lots of extra credit opportunities and he really makes sure everyone understands the material.

Great teacher. Very nice and helpful. Class is monotone and you might get bored and fall asleep everyday or not want to come to class but in the end. But its not an easy A and you should put effort in the class. I still have the book if you need it for cheap 310 279 9828

Knows his stuff and explains it well. Always willing to stop and answer questions. Give time to do hw in class sometimes. check ur email day of class because he cancels class unexpectedly at times and will email a notice. Just take him.

Take him! Did all the homework - trust me easy and won't take much time to complete, attended classes (not 100%) and received my A. He's clear, interesting and really helpful if you have questions. Let's you work in groups, you do NOT have to buy those expensive books - he'll send you the copy of his own book. Overall, good prof.

Nice guy. Always welcomes questions. CONSTANTLY cancels class though...it stops being cool after the 4th time. Tests are a bit confusing, but class is pretty easy. Barely paid attention and got an A.

You MUST go to class if you want to pass. You also MUST pay attention. He is a nice guy but the subject is boring and so are the lectures. His voice is monotoned which makes it even harder to focus. If you can focus the whole time then it shouldn't be that hard.

Professor Hale is a great professor. He really cares about his students and will go over things the class doesn't understand in a very clear manor. He also supplies the textbook for free electronically. Scattered easy quizzes, midterm, and final. Definitely would recommend

He makes the lectures pretty clear and he assigns homework but they're not that long. He is a picky grader when it comes to the homework and tests. He always asks if anyone needs help. You also don't need the textbook, he'll email you the chapters through email as a pdf. Lectures could get boring but it's just the subject. I recommend him.

He's a tough grader but he definitely helps you out. He is always available to help. The class is challenging but you work in groups, so you have a chance to pass the class. He definitely makes you think. He could be a little interesting, however. If you want to exercise your brain and want a challenge, then take it.

He is great professor! ALWAYS open to answering questions. Allows the class to start all of their homework IN class with him helping and making sure that your answers are right when he does collect it and grade it. The class material is pretty easy if you just pay attention to his lectures and participate.

He often includes his pet cats into the lecture and is better teaching one to one. He doesn't pick on students but will when no one is really participating in lectures.

The professor is methodical and explains how to understand material step by step. Many in class practice examples. 50 % quiz & hw , 50 % 2 exams . Sometimes groupwork. Professor emails textbook to you. Attendance is extremely important if the emailed textbook doesn't make sense. To me the material looks like using math logic to break down language.

He makes the material very easy to understand and makes sure that you understand the work. He provides you with the textbook so its free but he does require a lot of work for a 100 class.

I'm not a PHIL major, but was interested in this intro to logic class. It focused on breaking down and analyzing arguments. Every class is important to attend because he explains the textbook concepts more in depth with examples. He emails you the textbook (free!). He welcomes questions & HW can be done in groups in class. Participate to glean

Professor Hale is a great professor! He is incredibly helpful, especially during his office hours! I cannot stress this enough, go to his OFFICE HOURS (especially since this is an online class). He goes through the material and explains it very well! Hes very understanding during this difficult time. I highly recommend him, especially for a GE!

Grading criteria consisted of 15 hw assignments. Allows group work/group submission for all hw. Very caring and understanding professor. There were weekly office hours where he helped with hw and he responds to emails asap. Definitely recommend Professor Hale! :)

Prof Hale was very kind. No books needed he supplies you with his own. No final or quizzes. There are 15 homeworks though due each Monday at 7am. They are a bit tough so I recommend going to his office hours where he breaks the hw down. Very chill professor. Should be an easy A if u attend office hours. Also allows group work for the homeworks!!

TAKE THIS CLASS!I love Professor Hale! He is so understanding and sweet. Easy A if you put in the effort by going to office hours! Office hours are the ONLY reason I have an A+, otherwise I would have a fail. 15 homework assignments, no exams. He provides a textbook that he wrote. I see NO REASON to get less than an A in this class. Put in the work

He always makes time to have office hours twice a week, and you can also message him for help on anything. He formed the class himself, so the textbook was free, and the homework is based on it. The overall grade is dependent on fifteen homework assignments. If you go to his office hours he pretty much lectures and helps everyone with the homework.

This class is pretty tough to learn or become good at but this professor is always accessible outside of class so you can go to office hours and do alright. It's just one weekly HW assignment and you can work in a group if you want. Just put in the effort and your fine but the material is still difficult. (its 4 credits for the class)

He wrote the textbook himself so (in office hours) he explains everything very well. 100% take advantage of the hours and go if you're struggling with a concept and he goes over almost all of the homework assignments too. Reading the chapter beforehand helps if you're lost, but he also gives small extra credit questions on most homework assignments

Asynchronous class, one homework assignment a week due Monday at 6 am. Honestly, pretty easy work, follow the textbook that he wrote. Class discord helps a lot. Overall, easy class.
