Dr. Leung is a great instructor. He is well organized, extremely helpful, and very clear as to what he wants from students. He is a true teacher.
He is the man i love the way he teaches and really seems to care about the students and if they really get the matterial. He is totally a character and is very enthusiastic about his lectures which make it fun. He also goes over all the tests before you take them but you must study a little to do well. Attendence is big also.
good professor, tests come straight from the lectures, no homework and only 1 easy project
This professor is so hard to understand. I would ask him to clarify he would get very angry. Others in the class appreciated my asking because we could NOT understand him!! He does not bend on any rules that he writes so read the syllabus and rules sheets CAREFULLY! Pick your seat on the first day wisely because it will be yours for the year :)
Very enjoyable lecture as Dr. Leung is very funny. The tests are written primarily based on lectures, however, some questions are from the text. I found the assignments (we only had a few) very easy but the tests are pretty hard. Be prepared for LOTS of studying. I have a 90% average but would be very happy to get higher than 75% in this class.
Pretty easy class. All the lectures are on Blackboard. He gives a recap before a test and a review after the test. The tests are straight from lecture. He also takes roll almost every day. If you attend lecture and study somewhat for the test, you'll be fine! There is also a paper that was worth 10 points. He makes the topic enjoyable and fun!
VERY VERY DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND HIM! only take him if you can understand asian accents really well. i have a very hard time, as well as most of the class. the whole class is out of 100 points, so the four 20 point tests are most of your grade. i studied and studied and still got an F on the test! doh!
He is very funny. He has an asian accent but it doesn't interefere very much. He makes the class fun especially with his expressions. The class is mostly based on tests and some assignments that are easy to do. Study very well on the tests do not procrastinate and he has one term paper. Attendance are points so go to class. Liked his class overall
I do not understand why he has gotten such high ratings. The class is very difficult, he requires you to memorize too many facts at once. He requires students to know questions from blackboard videos that are unobtainable. He is very nice but I think he forgets that this is just a GE class. When completing the essay it was as if he went to every length to make it as difficult as humanly possible in terms of formatting and sources. My advice is to take the other teacher who offers this course.
He is an easy professor. You really have to study for all tests, everything on the study guide is on the test. He grades the paper very hard. You must be a writer to get an A other than that the topics he teaches are interesting & he is very funny! If you study for tests, show up to class, do the activities, you will get a very good grade!
This is the HARDEST class I have ever taken. I studied and still failed all the test. When you ask questions he doesn't answer them at all just redirects you. Its a hybrid class so its half online half in class. I couldn't access the power points with his voice and just asked him to put the regular powerpoint up, he said its against the law.
This is just way too much for a regular GE class. Avoid him UNLESS you in particular love the challenge. Because you got to be those students who always attend class, do homework completed & on time, STUDY and have nothing going on in your life. People who did this still couldn't pass his tests & I see them struggle through like hell! Good luck!
He is the hardest, most ridiculous teacher I have ever had! What he makes us do when this is only a GE class is EXTREMELY difficult! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!
It is impossible to understand what he says. Half his classes are online but are just recordings of him lecturing. Awful class, where everything is more difficult solely because of him. Plus he loves China and does anything he can to include it in discussion. Avoid at all costs
SOOO hard! He asks way too much of our class and we all study really hard for the tests and seem to fail all of them! He makes writing a 1000 word paper far more difficult than it should be. When we ask him things he never answers the question and rambles about something else that makes noo sense. Do not take this teacher!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! You have to be Tim Tebow to pass this class because it WILL take a miracle. Hard to understand plus online lectures are LONGER than the actual class itself plus it has his voice recording it(STRONG ACCENT). He's a nice guy and I wish i could give him a good rating, but its a GE class that you WILL NOT PASS. Good Luck Trying
If you are looking for an easy grade you found the wrong teacher. Very difficult test that are almost impossible to study for because of the irrelevant questions on them. Online lectures are hard to start and take longer for the class.Don't ask him questions because he usually will just look at you and repeat what he said. Avoid the Class period.
While it may be one of the most difficult classes I have ever had, Dr. Leung is actually a pretty nice guy who only wants you to pass. As long as you try your best, watch the lectures, and can manage getting at least a 50% on every test, you should pass the class with a "C". I thought i failed but he gave out enough extra credit to pass thankfully
If you get stuck in this class, one thing you can look forward to is some laughs. He is very funny. As for your grade, it wont be an A unless you literally memorize all the lectures & the book! the class will start out easy(i missed 3 on the 1st test) but trust me, the test becomes harder!(barely passed the last one)!
Lueng is a funny, nice, and interesting professor but the class isn't. I passed with a C in the class but I was sure I was going to fail. Make sure to read the textbook! Make sure to see the lectures on blackboard! Make sure to go to every class! And do any extra credit you can. If you do all this you should pass.
Don't take his class! He is very funny but he wont be that funny to you when you see your grade.
This teacher required way too much for a GE class. All tests came from the lecture (most of which is online and the program it runs through freezes or doesn't load and are LONGER than in-class lectures). He also won't answer questions and he makes the research paper's writing process an atrocious ordeal. Don't take his class!
Horrible class. you can hardly understand him in class and in his online lecutures. A lower division GE class shouldn't be this hard. You don't get participation points in class if you don't answer questions correctly, so even just trying wont help at all. i would say to take it with someone else. nice guy, but not worth risking a bad grade.
You could barely understand him. He has a very strong accent and asked way too much for a lower GE class. I do NOT recommend him at all. One of my least favorite classes!
This class was very interest, but if you can find a different teacher, do it. He is very hard to understand. The tests does not go with his study guides, and the online lectures are so bad. His class is very difficult. Don't take this class with him!
Mr. Leung is something else. He is funny & very helpful when you ask, but his class is harder than you'd expect for a GE course. The lectures online have gotten better to listen/follow. Attend class because he gives extra credit. Class is very interesting but hard. Homework weekly, presentation and paper.
Mr. Leung is funny & helpful. Yes, this class is a bit harder than you'd expect for a GE course but it's not that horrible. The lectures online have gotten much easier to listen to & follow along. Do the online lectures & attend class.
He is a really funny person and makes the class interesting. He really wants you to learn so he usually picks on everyone and gives each person an extra credit point per correct answer.Presentation is super easy. Only downfall? THE EXAMS. Study guide is nothing like the exam. Only suggestion is STUDY STUDY STUDY for TESTS!!!!
He is a very funny teacher, but when tries to explain something, he can be very unclear with what he is trying to say. His class has online video lectures which can be much better, and his exams are very tough. Just stick it out and pay attention and you should be able to pass the class.
He is a very difficult instructor with pointless lectures(in class), hard exams(3) along with homework worksheets. If you are looking for no chance at succeeding, you'll enjoy this class! His class is (I kid you not) a set up for failure. However, the online lectures are helpful but extremely boring. Bottom line: DON'T take HIS course!
Mr. Leug is quit a character. He is funny, helpful and really wants to learn. Attend class he gives extra credit points. Weekly homework, a paper, presentation. Exams are very tough. Yes, this class is a harder than you'd expect for a GE course. The lectures online have are easier to listenfollow along. You will have to WORK HARD for your grade.
Leung is hard grader and the class is based off of 100 points. One paper, one group presentation, 3 Test. He is a very funny guy. Half online & half in class so technically its a one day a week class. Go to class answer the extra credit questions he asks those points will help on your test later on. I never used the book.
You need an 82% to get a B but a 65% to get a C, I ended up with an 81% in the class but got a C
This class is the absolute worst class I have ever taken at Fresno State. the teach expects way too much out of a GE class. he is all over the place and can never explain things in ways normal people would pick up on. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
Dr. Leung is the worst professor I've ever had at Fresno State. He is set in his ways and he is not willing to help his students. I've never felt so helpless from a professor. He has a very thick accent and I can't understand most of what he says. His lectures are pointless to the tests and his online videos are near to impossible to follow.
This was one of the most challenging classes I have ever taken. He is hard but if you're in the class and can't get out don't stress when about paper make sure everything is your own words no quotes. Look at it as something you learned and have to explain. Overthinking this paper can make it harder than it is. If it's not to late drop the class!
Don't take this class. I am a student with a 4.0, previously had done paid work in GIS, and this class is an absolute joke. His tests do not test your ability to use the program, but rather test whether or not you have a photographic memory and can memorize his textbook. The exact textbook that even he said isn't always right.
Dr. Leung was a very funny and kind professor however his class is rather challenging and you NEED TO STUDY in his class i worked my butt off and managed to crawl out with a C and a friend of mine who worked just as hard failed it but if you are willing to work hard i recommend him because he at least made the class fun
I don't get why everyone is so harsh on him. I actually enjoyed this class. If you actually do the study guides, and watch the online lectures, the tests are really easy. It's not an easy A, but it really isn't that bad. And he also does some pretty funny things in class. I believe he definitely grades based on the work you do.
He gives points for attending class. You only meet once a week to review the online lectures, which are super long sometimes but once you understand the format you should be fine.
Hybrid class (partly on campus and partly online). Professor is alright and does his job just good for his students.
This class will definitely make you work hard. The tests are difficult and he grades very harshly on the one paper you do. I usually get A's on my papers and I got an F. Very annoying bc it dropped my grade a whole letter grade. The lectures are super boring I usually mute them and just read the subtitles
Grades everything very harshly. The test are difficult and nothing like the study guides. I studied hours for the last test and got a D because the questions were not similar to those on the study guide. Also, he rounds mid D's to C's but a 80% is still a C!!!! This makes no sense!!!
Unbelievably harsh grader. One paper, one group presentation, 3 tests. The online lectures are needed in order to complete the study guide, which is useless for the exams. Thick accent. Take geography with someone else. This class was too stressful.
His grading is harsh. The one paper due for this class was graded harder than any paper I wrote for an English class. His tests are hard to study for because they do not come directly from his study guides. You can memorize his entire study guide and it will not help much on his tests. He is pretty funny though and gives extra credit opportunities.
Extremely harsh grader! Hard to understand. However you only have to go to the class one day a week instead of the two or three depending on your schedule. Group project is difficult to complete with uncompliant group members and it will affect your grade. You have to go to every class and complete all work to pass.
Great teacher, very strict grading criteria. Do ALL the work and you will pass. Study the online lectures. If you miss something or do poorley on the tests make sure you reach out to him.
Attend class to do the map activity only. DOES NOT LECTURE. You have to watch his lecture video where it is just a powerpoint that he narrates himself. I recommend watching his video b/c if you don't you won't pass the test. Textbook is not necessary. 1 easy group presentation (10min). He's an OK professor who is funny at times.
Pretty good teacher. You can tell he's passionate about what he teaches. The tests are based off of the online lectures. There's about 4 tests overall, an 8 pg paper, a group mini lecture and map/take home activities. Best advice, make sure you do the map/take home activities. They're technically extra credit and they'll save your ass.
DO NOT TAKE. Extremely hard grader, a bunch of busy work. 3 tests and a paper but is so strict on everything. Im an A student and struggled badly in his class.
Hybrid class - half online, half offline. Doesn't believe in giving anyone 100% on anything, and will nitpick in order to make this happen, especially on map activities. Most of my class ended up with a C- or below, I got a high B. The class is out of 100 points, so everything seems to be worth nothing, but the little things do add up.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. By far the worst professor I have ever had and thats being generous. He doesnt believe in giving out As. He grades SO hard its impossible to pass with anything higher than a C if youre lucky. Hes extremely hard to understand and Im a great student and struggled badly in this class. I barely passed with a C
I thought this class would be decent, it's a hybrid class and half is online. He's hard to understand. You're given one paper to write but it's extremely hard and was only out of 12 points. The worst professor I have taken yet. He liked everything really detailed, I was lucky enough I passed the class with a C. But overall, I DONT RECOMMEND.
This teacher is an extremely hard grader. If you don't study, you will not pass the class. If there is a way to not take his class, don't.
RUN away from this class. Heavy lectures, very tough grader. Test are timed. For the final we had to answer 45 questions in 33 mins. There is a group project, a final paper and map activities. Do all the map activities because it will save your grade. Do NOT take this class unless you want a bad semester.
I just failed this class last semester. However, he provided us with many extra credit opportunities and easier in class activities to help your grade. This class was the hardest class but it is possible to pass with a C, I missed it by 0.2 percent and one question on the final. Hard grader but pretty funny and resourceful if you reach out.
He's not a bad teacher but his class is difficult. He has lecture videos and chances to get extra points. His grading is tough because he grades every little thing. He also has an accent which can make it hard to understand him especially because the mask muffles it a little. Honestly, his class is very stressful and I'd recommend others to avoid.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! This professor gives way too much work and grades super hard. Showing up to class is mandatory if you want to do somewhat good in the class.
Very hard to understand, DO THE MAPS he makes them due the same day by 5pm his lectures are recordings and are about an hour or more each, he is an extremely tough grader on everything, I liked this class in the beginning because it was only one day a week, but the assignments are not able to be made up and they are two points each.
Professor Leung makes it nearly impossible to pass this class. His class mean is a D which means everyone has to retake the class. It is a GE class and the way he set it up makes it impossible. Do not take GEOG4 with this professor.
If I study for a few hours and pay attention in class, I always get an A or a B if the class is very difficult. Never have I ever received such low scores or seen such strange grading systems. He grades with a small number of points and he doesn't teach very well. He's particular about everything and has a strong accent. Don't take this class!
Weekly activity 2.5 pts, 1 paper 12 pts, exams 17-22 pts each and group presentation 8. He's hard to understand, the study guide is vague and not helpful for the exams. I had an A until he graded the paper (got an F) but I've always been good at writing. Failed the final exam. Don't take unless you don't mind getting a bad grade. Would rate 0/5
I will admit I'm not the very best student but his class was a struggle for anyone. He gives a weekly map assignment due the same day assigned, only worth 2.5 points and grades very harsh. He gives a study guide for each test but it is not too helpful, watch 5, hr long lectures for test notes. 1 12 pt essay, harsh grading. 1 group project.
This professor was so difficult for no reason. He does the end of the semester essay and grades it so hard. The essay was graded out of 12 and everyone got at least a 3-8. Also the study guide only helps with the first test study guide 2 and 3 are useless! So I suggest watching the lectures or just drop the class.
Awful teacher. Teaches in prerecorded lectures and gives assignment directions there. His directions are clear, but his grading criteria is not. Almost like he doesn't tell you everything you need to do for map activities. He does NOT respond to emails. He is nice but communicates awfully. Do NOT get Mr. Leung if you can. Good luck.
he is a tough grade, his class was hybrid so he prerecord his lectures and it was hard to understand on what he is trying to say , and he wants map activity to be precise, overall did not enjoy his class
He's not that bad of a professor, people are just exaggerating, now is it hard?Yes. But he is a great professor when it comes to giving extra points.A couple key points, don't take the class if you are not abnormally great at art. Second, know the bonus point system is not for whichever assignment you are doing. The bonus points are for the end.
Do not take this class. This professor is a really tough grader. There are only 3 exams, but lots of material. It is too much in one test. He is very strict with grading, it is almost impossible to pass. Lectures are long, regardless how much you try he seems to find something wrong with everything you turn in.
Personally for me, the maps acted extra credit thus, how i passed with a C in the end. tough grader. grades essay in the end hard. You watch the 1hr lectures online and take notes. You want a very challenging class? take this class. + group project in the end
Not hard! Hybrid class. Pre Recorded lectures one day and in class activities the next! Group project is graded by your peers! Be creative make it fun! Essay was not bad. Just keep a detailed writing log of your research, its a big chunk of the paper. Do not miss the patch up quizes! Break down the study guide questions! He is a great professor!
Do not take this class. He is way to harsh of grader. The tests mean everything for your grade so if you do take this class make sure to study. I did everything I could do to pass, but ultimately didn't. He is not remotely accommodating. He is also hard to talk to and has a strong accent which only makes things more difficult.
You can show up to every lecture, complete every assignment, and you still will possible fail. The tests are so specific there is no way to study for them. When he graded papers and assignments he deducts by .01 and .1, thus he is extremely picky and even says he refrains from handing out good grades. This is an insane amount of work for a GE class
He is the worst professor someone can have for a GE class. Effort needs to be put into the class as it was quite difficult. There is a textbook however it's free, attendance technically isn't mandatory however you'll miss the activity in class and won't be able to make it up unless you have a proper excuse. I don't recommend the class.
Absolutely the worst professor I have had. I took this class years ago for GE credit and failed due to how hard it was, I recently went back to school and decided to retake it but the class did not get any easier. I decided to drop and look for another professor. The online lectures are hard to follow and lack clear notes. He has a heavy accent.
horrible. do not take.
Professor Leung is a kind and helpful individual. He is happy to help and answer any questions you may have and is available even on weekends. His assignments may be a bit lengthy but he makes videos for each one walking you through every single step! He gives feedback and allows you to resubmit assignments for full credit! Give him a chance!
This is by far the worst class I have ever taken. All lectures are online and there's no image of him presented at all. You can't understand anything he says and the audio sounds AI generated. All instructions for homework are unclear and over complicated. If you have other in person classes and/or have a job you wont pass this class.
Very tough grader, expected picture-perfect drawn maps. Lecture was an online video which was very difficult to understand. Tests were extremely difficult and required a lockdown browser. barely managed to pass the class.
It's overall so much work and no clear instructions at all. I could rephrase his l
He has clear expectations first day, it says in the syllabus that this course will be "tough" and that it needs proper time management. It's easy though. There's video lectures and LOTS of extra credit. There's also a group project where you're doing a mini-lecture, this was fun and I enjoyed it. Overall, class was easy, mainly just coloring maps.
He did the most while grading don't take this class if you don't need to. Save yourself and don't take this class his lectures you can't understand what he is saying. Then also his tests are only in the afternoon and no you cant take the test another time.
His lectures does not correlate with the quizzes at all. For example, lecture 6 is about East Asia and its geographic location, climate, and population only, but on the quiz it ask for the acronym of BRICS and when Christianity was introduce to the region. SMH. JUST USED AI.
It feels like he wants you to fail. The lectures are inadequate, the labs are deeply unhelpful, and his email responses often lead to more questions than answers. It genuinely feels like he does not value student success. At times, it feels like he thinks students are dumb just because his materials are inadequate.
I liked the professor - if you carefully read the grading criteria and follow it, you sure will pass with a good grade. However, some understanding, and being a bit more caring for students would do. But overall, not a bad class, its just not an "easy pass"
This is the worst class I have ever taken, and also the worst professor I have ever had. Do NOT take this class, just take this class with a different professor. Tough grader and doesn't even elaborate. Failed my essay and didn't even specify why or write any notes. He makes it seem like he wants to fail you.
Absolutely one of the worst classes I have taken yet. Consistent straight A student and this is the first class I have ever gotten below a B on. Very detailed grader and absolutely no late work. Lectures are hard to understand and I truly wish I would have never taken this class with this professor, good luck to anyone else that does.
If you want an easy A, don't take this class. He knows his class his hard, so he gives lots of bonus points that gets added to your exam grades and essay. Not an easy grader, but he will help if you ask. You need to try in this class, he wants you to work for your grade. I passed with an A, it's doable.
worst professor ever. he does not ever give you a high grade, no matter how good you do. does not answer messages and also goes completely off of what he was supposed to grade you on. do not take this professor. save urself the low grade. i passed and it was doable, but you need to be super on top of every assignment every other day.
Absolutely terrible professor (A&B student) Each week we had to either draw out, identify, or write coordinates on different maps if we were not exactly precise with the diagrams he would dock points. The lecture videos sound like he recorded them on a toaster and they are obviously outdated and old. Do not take this class if you do not need to.
His grading system is VERY confusing. I still do not understand it. However, if you do all the work you will get a good grade. Despite the grading system he uses, there is valuable information in the course.
