He was super nice and funny. He tells great stories and his tests are from his notes so just read over those which means you have to go to class every day. The book i never even opened because he only puts 3 questions from the book on the test and you have no idea what it will be.

He has great experiences and by sharing them with his students it gives them a better undestanding of the material. I've had him for 2 classes now and will continue to look for any class he teaches.

He is a very interesting professor with a lot of relevant information, but he occasionally talks very fast and his tests are much harder than in other CRJ classes he teaches. Be aware if you deside to take this test you will take a lot of notes and you will want to study hard for the exams...

easy class! don't need the book and when the few questions from the book showed up on the test and the class bombed them, he didn't count those questions! gave us the points back! tests are based on the lectures! 3 tests and a project that is a ride along! pop qiuzes on current events, but yet to actually have one! FUN!

Best professor on campus. Easily one of the most interesting people I've met. Tests are easy with reviews ahead of time, good stories, simple assignments. Only a chimp could manage to fail this class.

This class was probably my favorite class of the semester. He makes the topic of criminal justice very interesting and has a way of involving his students and making the subject clear enough so that when the test comes, you're passing with flying colors. Tests are really easy!

This class is probably one of the best I've ever taken. I don't know if there was ever a dull moment as prof was funny and really into the subject. Attendance isn't required but if you don't go, you miss 'quizzes' and one of the most interesting classes the campus offers. I would definitely take this teacher again if I had the opportunity!

By far best teacher I have ever taken including classes at the junior college. Attendance is not mandatory but he does give pop quizzes which are easy if you attend class. Attend class write down what he does and make flash cards =A. He appears to be knowledge able and often is other times he falls pray to stereotyping in occasionally offensive ways. Overall he is very fun and I learned a lot great professor.

His exams aren't very hard, and only one 30 minute group presentation which he was very easy going on. This guy is great, hilarious, and laid back- but that won't help you pass the class. He only has a midterm and a final, couple five point assignments and a group project. Everyone failed the midterm. The effort you put in is the grade you'll get.

Good instructor. He reads over the slides, but then goes on to tell personal stories. attendance in not required but i always went for the real life stories and situations he would talk about. study the slides skim the book + information that he will tell you you need to know and you will do fine. group presentation is a lot easier than it sounds.

Such a great professor, one of the best in the CRJ dept at CSUS! He was hillarious, we always had interesting classes, and I never cracked the book once and pulled off a B+. I just wish I had tried a little harder, could have been an easy A. I will HANDS DOWN be in Bunyan's 115 class.

He is funny & very knowledgeable in the subject. 3 tests & 1 research paper. He cracks jokes constantly & TALKS A LOT, so you always have to take notes. 90% of the lectures are on the tests, so write down everything he says unless he tells you not to!! Study & memorize ALL YOUR NOTES including acronyms because you can't use notes on tests. Fun :P

Bunyan is one of the funniest and coolest teachers at CSUS. He gives out attendance quizzes at each class, which generally consist of a terrorism word search or word scramble and he cusses a lot in class. Great person to be teaching the subject, knows everything about terrorism. Tests are not too bad, just memorizing names and events.

I am 99.9% sure he gets a lot of his material from Wikipedia but who cares, lectures are some of the best in the CJ department. 3 test 100 points each. attendance/ in class pop quiz 70 points (EASY). 5-7 page paper 30 points. Class is very interesting and fun. HEAVY HEAVY notes. No book. tests are based on his lectures. 1st test was fill in blank which was somewhat difficult. 2nd test was multiple choice and a breeze. 3rd is a compilation of both.

Bunyan is a phenomenal professor. Take good notes during lectures as he tests directly from his lectures. I graduated from Sac State Fall 2012 and Bunyan was, by FAR, my favorite teacher at Sac State. tests are of average difficulty and attendance is mandatory, he gives out crossword puzzles to take attendance - 5 points. He is a MUST TAKE.

Bunyan is AMAZING! Yes, there is a book but you don't have to use it until the exam. He even says so. He has a lot of experience in law enforcement and that's what he mainly discusses in his class. This professor is GREAT! I had to re-take CJ1 because I didn't learn much from my last teacher, but Bunyan is such a great teacher. He has the best lectures and helps you understand with his hilarious stories on the job as a police officer. Pay attention to his lectures though 10% textbook 90% lecture on exams. It won't be hard to pay attention

He really knows his stuff and makes class enjoyable. He talks about his own experiences and makes tons of jokes. He's super easy; 1 midterm, 1 final, 1 group project, and 1 research paper. Given that your grade is based on only those 4 things, doing well is essential for a good grade. I would definitely recommend him.

Took crj 1 & 5 with bunyan. His classes convinced me that crj was the major for me. Super chill guy and is hilarious. Attendance is mandatory and he does in class assignments but class is fun so come. Test are average and require studying. Dont buy the book you wont need it. Got a B in both classes with little effort but retained tons of info!

Professor Bunyan is a good teacher. This class-Counter terrorism-was tough considering the volume of material Bunyan covered. Attend every class because he tells you what to expect on exams and hands out an occasional quiz- 5 pt- thats counts toward your attendance. The first exam is quite hard because it's fill-in blank. Study & you'll be fine!

Okay, his tests are literally all lectures. You really have to study everything he says but he's so funny and HOT there will be no problem paying attention. You will just have to study everything he mentions. So be prepared. Did I mention that he's fine? He is.

Loved his violence and terrorism class!! Super interesting, no homework ever other than the final paper that was also a blast to research & write (ours was on ISIS). Bunyan is hilarious and really knows the subject. First class in my 3 years at CSUS that I attended every single lecture just because the class was so interesting. WOULD DEF TAKE AGAIN

Professor Bunyan loves to talk about his experiences on the field. Although I and many others enjoy his nonstop stories, I do feel like that it distracts us from actually learning the course material. Come test time, I don't feel prepared at all because he's spent the majority of lectures talking about stories that didn't really help me learn much.

I took his terrorism class and the amount of useful knowledge you will learn is golden. He covers things that could save your life, terrorist organizations and tactics as well as a bunch of personal experiences. BEWARE if you DO NOT show up to his class you will fail and pop quizzes are almost given every class. So take good notes and pay attention

He's got some funny cop stories to make the content of the lectures more interesting. He gives pop quizzes but they're done in groups and basically if you do them you pass them. Cancelled Friday class on a regular basis, he would usually tell us a lecture in advance. Tests are pretty easy if you just study your notes that are only given in class. I only studied an hour before each exam and got B on each. Paper is most difficult, being 5-7 pages. Recommend for sure

His exams are remembering names, groups, states, etc. a lot of random fact stuff. You HAVE TO DO SOME studying. its usually 100 questions. a C is doable with no study.

3 Exams, 7 in-class quizzes, and 1 informal movie analysis written assignment. NO EXTRA CREDIT! Lectures are intense, detailed, and fast-paced, but most informative!!! Class cancelled mostly on Fridays and teacher talked President Trump too much. Class exciting, memorable, and fun!! Must be awake and alert in lecture taking detailed notes!

The class is solely memorization so remember pretty much everything. one paper (tedious and time consuming) and three exams (easy if you studied). if only he taught more upper div

This guy has the best lectures, alway funny and very interesting. Only problem is that you are graded by a few things: 3 tests and an essay. No homework. Also, he doesnt post grades to blackboard so you kinda have to guess your grade. I found the tests to be very difficult even though i studied and know a lot about the subject.

Bunyan is hands down the best professor of my entire college career! His lectures are enjoyable. He is an expert on the subject, and he's funny! He has great stories of his past. The tests are not hard if you study for it, everything is straightforward. He gives word search or crossword puzzles games for attendance. 3 tests, no homework. LOVE HIM!

One of the best professors I have ever had. The lectures are interesting and engaging and the professor has a lot of knowledge/great stories. The tests can be difficult if you don't study but if you do study then the tests are a breeze! Occasional pop quizzes that you will always get full points on if you come to class that day. One simple paper :)

best professor ever no joke, usually has videos on fridays that are related to the week's topic, show up pay attention take notes you will pass, does not take attendance but has the easiest pop quizzes on that day's lecture and you can work in a group if you can take him then take him you'll like the way your grade looks i guarantee it

Bunyan was one of the best professors Ive taken! 3 test, a few pop quizzes which he lets you take in groups, and a 5-7 page paper based on the assigned movie. He usually has videos instead of going to class on Friday's. His test are alright nothing extremely difficult if you study the right things. I would definitely take another class with him!

Ive only missed one class and I regretted it because I love listening to his lectures. I love that there is a story and often experience behind each topic/bullet point. It makes everything more interesting and easier to remember. ����������

I just had Bunyan for my first year CRJ class and he was the most interesting and engaging teacher I have ever had. He makes class so much more interesting than a simple lecture, and has no homework. This is one of those classes you won't want to skip.

Professor Bunyan is the best! His lectures are interesting and keep the class really engaged, he usually gives examples in his lectures about things that happened to him as a Police Officer which helps learn the material more. It is also very important to attend his classes... they are really fun anyway. Definitely recommend!

He gives great feedback and connects it to real life events. He is funny and you will understand the class if you take him. I loved going to that class and really wished his class was longer than 50 minutes. He sometimes cancels Friday classes. Lectures are understandable.

This professor is by far my favorite professor at Sac State! Lectures are interesting and if you come to class and pay attention, you'll be just fine. He is super funny and makes the class fun. A few pop quizzes, and a few exams. He owns a gym so most of the time class is cancelled Fridays. TAKE HIM!!! You'll learn things you hold onto for life!

Love this professor! Very engaging, fun and nice! You definitely have to go to class for lecture. Some of the his test questions isn't on the powerpoint so make sure to take good detailed notes. Easy exam if you put in effort to study! If I could, I would very much take his class again. One of the best professor on campus!

He is the best! He grades on few things (3 tests, a paper, quizzes, attendance ) and there is no homework. He explains concepts cleary and simply. The quizzes are just crossword puzzles that you get 5 points for, nothing major. I really enjoyed his class and would suggest anyone take his class.

He is THE best!!!!! cancels half of his Friday classes and you have one paper and three exams and a bunch of pop quizzes but they are not hard at all. Tells a lot of stories. If you have the chance take him for CRJ 1 and 115!

Professor Bunyan is very hilarious. He gives out a lot of his life experience to help his students understand the concept, especially for people who are not CRJ majors. However, you need to pay attention in class because mostly all his exams are from the lecture.

HILARIOUS!Love this guy. You must show up to every class, no textbook is needed. He uses real life examples and each class becomes very interesting and engaging. I found myself looking forward to his classes more than my major science classes. He teaches you valuable things about terrorism.

Absolutely love this class! The lectures were always quick and he gave lots of stories from his experience as a cop. The lectures are basically what's on the exam! Do not miss! We had occasional pop quizzes but it was mostly on crossword puzzles or small assignments. There's 3 exams 50 questions each, 2/3 pop quizzes and one project paper.

Professor Bunyan has been the best professor I have taken out of my entire college career. In the class, there were three exams (have to study hard, but if you study all the notes you will be fine), one paper (on a movie, 5-7 pages), and 75 points of participation. If you attend regularly and take good notes you will be fine!

TAKE HIM IF YOU GET THE CHANCE. He is one of my favorite professors. Has good stories to tell and theyre hilarious. Gives 2 exams and 1 final all MC, not accumulative. 1 big movie paper. STUDY STUDY STUDY. Make sure you get all the notes for class! Usually cancels class on Fridays.

Bunyan is one of the few teachers that instead of giving pointless projects and assignments uses the time to really make sure you are learning the material.

PLEASE TAKE HIM! He made the class super interesting & I would take the class again if I could. He made you feel super comfortable and he stops and asks the class if they're understanding. He really does care; however, your grade is only based off 3 test & a research paper. He's curves the grade, but you have to do your part & study!

Best class Ive taken so far! He teaches by telling us his experiences and slides. Makes the class comfortable and fun. Its not that hard of a class! 3 exams and you have to do either a ride along, sit in on a court case, or tour a jail for a final project plus a small paper about your experience. No homework or book needed.

Bunyan used to be a police officer, so he tells a lot of fun stories about being on the force! In class, there was a txtbk but I got As on tests w/o it. Class is easy lectures for notes and he tends to cancel Fridays. Just 3 tests and one paper, but he does not use Canvas, so you won't know your grades (you can probably just email him).

He is an amazing and funny professor. He was one of the few classes that I looked forward to going to every MWF. He cancels class frequently on Fridays, so be sure to check your email before that day's respective class begins just in case. 3 exams and 1 paper (of which you have the entire semester to work on) make up your grade. Hes an ex cop and spends most of class describing stories he went through to explain concepts. He makes class enjoyable and doesnt speak down to students. Tests are very easy, and has 1 major assignment to visit a jail, court hearing, or ride along. He has sporadic pop quizzes so be prepared to not skip all the time but lecture isnt unbearable.

One of the funniest teachers on campus. Class consist of 4 pop quizzes ( which are just crossword puzzles and other easy quizzes that can be done in groups and with notes), 3 test are multiple choice and fill in the blank ( test can be hard but I did fine with just reviewing the notes) and one five page paper on a movie. YOU DO NOT NEED THE BOOK

Professor Bunyan is my most favorite Professor at CSUS. Lectures are super interesting and easy to follow. I got lucky when I maximized my points on the exams and paper. Take him for an easy A (if you work for it). He is also helpful when you have questions. I would definitely take him again if I can.
