Not a bad teacher, tests aren't bad, no curves at all
No Comments
tests are straight from class lecture. makes law sounds interesting.
don't need to buy book
Easy to relate to. Tests from lecture. Makes subject interesting.
Boring but tests straight from lecture notes. Easy A if you attend and listen
love his stories. makes law less dry
such a jerk. don't miss class, he won't believe your excuse anyway. retire him!!
This guy was great. Take it during the summer, very easy class but you still learn a lot!!!
Great Teacher,1st test was the easiest,2nd v.hard,3rd was a bit tricky too.Lecture is very important, write down everysingle word he says. Take it in the summer.v strict, exam frm the lecture. no need for a book.
Go to class, test from lecture 98%.book 2%. Book is not necessary. you could share or check-out a library. Brings real life court cases for discussion. Older but cares for students .
Very structured in class. No need for the book. Very clear examples and real life stories add interest to class.
Very good teacher. Do not need the book. Go to class and take detailed notes and you will get a good grade. A very interesting classe.
book will only confuse you, take good notes, know all the facts word for word that he goes over, test is very tricky, true and false questions. what you think you made on the test is going to be one grade lower. no curve.
WHATEVER YOU DO....DONT BE LATE!!!!!! good teacher but kind of a mean old timer.
Very intereasting class. Good knowledge to have for real life. Don't be late or miss class. Tricky tests mostly from lecture, but book is helpful. It is worth taking.
Nice gentleman.Tests are fair but tricky. He is from the old school, but is only requiring those things you SHOULD be doing anyway-showing up to class, being on time and being respectful.Tells great real life stories.Makes class interesting.
count absence when your 5 mins late!!! Go talk to him after class! take notes, don't need for text. Everything is on the textbook's webpage. Alot of T/F!! Lecture is boring sometime, bring coffee.
No need for book, tests come straight from the notes, don't be late.
He makes the class intersting by giving examples of everything that we talk about. His Test are straight from the notes. You don't need the book just take good notes and make a A or B in the class.
He's awesome-Take him during the summer-always let's class out early-fun class-don't need book-tests from notes-a really nice man,but careful what he says(a true lawyer in every sense)-test questions can be tricky but if you study its an easy A or B.
Except for t/f tests, good class. Slightly boring, no visuals, all talking. Old timer: need scantrons, no hats, food. not much use for book, tests straight from notes, most material is in the book, but hes not as detailed.
Good professor. One reason I am in law school now.
Enjoyable class. Tests straight from notes. Interesting guy, although you do get tired of taking notes and notes and notes. We always got out early. Never went close to the full class time. A bit old school. No hats/food in class. Still a little PO'd that he said we needed the book, I then dropped over 100 bucks for it and never had to use it.
Tests are tricky. Notes are helpful. He is kind of intense on tardiness.
He is a great man and he really know his stuff. he always try to give real life scenarios. gives 3 tests and they ARE tricky and very detailed! i study my butt off and still made a 60 something on my test and i have never made dat low in my life. Kinda boring because it was slides after slides but i guess it was ok. had to withdraw.
Prof. Chesson is a nice older man. I took his course as a once per week class and wrote about 1200 pages of notes which he flies through like their going to be taken away from him. Attendance is absolutely mandatory. He has a massive seating chart to mark you absent if you aren't sitting in the right spot. Still a great guy...
Super nice guy. Very interesting stories. Everyone stays glued to their seat. You do have to actually study. Do the HW, go to class and take notes, and you'll be fine. DO NOT copy his slides verbatim, he goes too fast. Shorthand and ask him to slow down if need be. I learned ALOT. Make him tell the story about the cup of water and the clients land.
Great old guy! Very funny. I learned a whole lot from his teaching and his experiences!
Nice guy and he tells interesting stories. His tests are tricky though - alot of T or F questions, sometimes he only changes a date or last name. Class was interesting though.
Great teacher.. Loved the class. Go to class!! Most material is from lecture. He is super funny. Tests are a little tricky but if you take good notes and listen to him you will make at least a "B" in the class. :)
lectures are all business, he has a few ancedotes, but focuses on the material. The test come from notes and lecture only. Lots of T/F questions, ugh!
Mr. Chesson is a GREAT professor. Very intertaining and funny (not corny funny, very comical). He makes learning the laws practical and fun. All test come straight from Powerpoints, I did not purchase the book and have managed a B. Class is Mandatory and role is taken by the grad student.
Sometimes has interesting lectures and stories but usually boring. Jokes around some to make class interesting. Attendance is mandatory. Only use book to read out of class. Gives lots of slides of notes. Write everything. Even then you will be confused on the test when you think you know the material. Tests are multiple choice. Avoid if you can.
You take A LOT of notes in class. He claims they are a summary of the book, but he give more information than just offered in the book. There's a lot of memorization. He can be helpful, but is lightly intimidating. Also ONLY 3 TESTS. None are cumulative though.
Just take notes from HIS slides and listen to the lecture closely. His exams are straight from his notes
Reads off the slides, and slides are LONG! Really nice guy, but tests are not too easy unless you study. Your hands will hurt after leaving class. I have not used the book 1 time this semester, and still managed high B's on my tests just from his lectures. I would recommend to take because he at least has powerpoints unlike the other professors.
Chesson is a really nice guy. He's a smooth talking Southern Attorney and he has some pretty funny stories to tell. Classes are boring and he takes attendance by assigned seats. Bring a laptop to type notes during class. Way too many slides to write. Easy B and DO NOT buy the book!
Hand still hurts from all the notes! But tests are directly from the slides/ notes. Chesson is a good teacher and is funny.
Possibly my favorite professor at this school. I earned a D with Trosch and retook with Chesson and made an A. His tests are DIRECTLY from in class notes. Takes attendance. Very fair. He has a great sense of humor and makes boring material interesting. I am currently taking BLAW 2 just because he is teaching it. Highly recommend to everyone. Easy A
Mr. Chesson is a capable instructor, and a smart lawyer. He was helpful. My only gripes are the mandatory attendance and the silly juvenile "Good morning!" at the beginning of class with the expectation of a "Good morning!" in reply and in unison. It's college...not grade school. If someone wants to pay you to not show up so be it. I made an "A".
The tests are strictly based on notes from power point. Hopefully you will be able to write fast, if not type fast because he wastes no time while lecturing. If you miss any information, he does not put notes on the moodle system for you to reread. There are 3 tests & no quizzes. Do not take it unless you are required, or have an interest in law.
Prof. Chesson doesn't care about helping his students. He gives 3 test all from his lecture notes, so you better not miss any days. If the scantron machine picks up two answers on test, even if you erased correctly he STILL counts it wrong. I guess he don't have time to do his job. If you ask question in class, expected. "Its in the book"
I took Chesson for BLaw 3150. Does not provide slides, does not help with anything. The grade comes from 3 exams of equal value. The material is easy but the exams are very tough because he tries very hard to trick you into the wrong answers on his exams. If you are content with a B or C, class is easy. But if you are an A student, DO NOT TAKE.
No idea why anyone is unhappy. His lectures are the best! I'm a terrible test-taker and a foreigner, still got a high B! 4 effortless steps to success : Come to each class. Turn off your flash(RUDE)-take pictures of slides. Study your snapshots. Be a decent human being(be respectful to him and others, listen). Absolutely loved!!
There is so much material and every class you will get hand cramps! He is a great professor though and knows what he's talking about. He gives examples to help you remember all of the material. 3 tests, he liked TrueFalse A LOT. Be sure to know the material well! Overall, great professor but you will have to attend every class and study.
don't skip class. write fast.
Out of all my professors I have ever had at UNCC, he is by far the worst. He has no incentive in wanting to help his students. His exams are ridiculous, the majority of his exams are TF questions, which in my opinion not does test a students knowledge of the material. Get ready to be bored by him, and don't even bother wasting money on the book.
Good lecture. Keeps things interesting with stories. Tests are fair.
The people on here complaining about him probably just don't like to learn. Attendance is mandatory, but for your own good. His lectures are packed with information, so you don't want to miss class. Very straightforward in his expectations. He really knows his stuff and you will learn a lot of useful info. Oh, and do NOT buy the textbook!!
Only three tests, those are the only grades you'll get. The tests are straight from the slides, but expect to memorize the slides. He goes way to fast to write the info down, either type or use your phone and take pictures of the slides. It's a lot of cramming before exams, but there's no homework. It's pretty straightforward and easy.
The material seems easy, all comes from the powerpoint slides, that he rushes through btw. I had a "3 hour" night class with him once a week and he lets you out at least an hour if not earlier than the normal time. Then he rushes through the lectures so we won't get all of the information down. Tests are intended to trick you and a lot of TF.
Professor Chesson's lectures are good and he gives great examples, but the tests are very difficult. I typically do not have to study for a course and I had to study for this one. Coming to class pays off, as he will help you out if you need it at the end of the course if you try your best while taking the class. Overall, good experience.
He has 3 tests that are your only grades for the semester. His tests are all multiple choice and T/F. Go to class, take down every word from the PPTs and you'll do fine. Don't miss class and don't buy the book. Attendance is also mandatory. He cares for this subject so each PPT has a lot of info and stories in them. Kinda tough so put in work.
You only have 3 exams for all your grading. You MUST write down the PowerPoint slides. His exams are FROM the slides. You do not need to purchase the book AT ALL. Just read the slides over and over and you will get an A in the class.
Dont buy the book waste of money. All his tests come from the powerpoints but are extremely tricky since most of them are true or false and he changes up only a word or two just to trick you and make you get a bad grade. Study the powerpoints/notes as much as you can.
Listen. Chesson is great. Just make sure you STUDY THE POWERPPOINTS his test come directly from them. Also, find somebody who has taken the class before because they are bound to have the notes. EVERYBODY HAS THE NOTES FOR THE CLASS! Don't be the only person taking notes, FIND THEM!
I enjoyed his class. The tests were a little heavy but if you follow the powerpoints he gives in class, you should be set. The notes he gives are the most important tools you have so GO TO CLASS. His tests really aren't terrible but just make sure you fully understand all the material.
Tough test, and lecture heavy. However he makes a 3 hour lecture manageable. Very test heavy. True or false is very prevalent in the exams. Exams are tough, however the class before the exam he likes to tell us every question to the exam in a very quick time period where you have to write down what you hear. Would take again.
His class is essentially this, go in, copy all the notes down from the powerpoint word for word, and study it. Easy A if you don't skip class and you take all the notes. He only gives 3 tests with a small curve on each. His tests have a lot of T/F and multiple choice with only 2-4 options to choose from.
The class was super easy. Take notes and study the study guide and you'll do fine. Most of the questions to the exam are given before exam day so write them down super quick. There are only 3 exams.
I got an 86 on the first, 84 second and a 99 final. I honestly am not a great student and have a 3.17 GPA, but I worked hard to make friends who have the notes in the class, write my own notes, and did not miss a single class. I highly recommend you to not take him if you are the type to skip. His tests are directly off the slides but STUDY!
You DO NOT have to buy the book. He will always mention it and how you need to read certain chapters but everything on the test comes straight from the lectures. You will never have any homework in the class but there are only 3 grades the whole course, which are all test grades. The last test is way harder than the first two.
Take this class! Mr. Chesson gives great real-world examples that make the material relatable. He is a very sweet old man and knows what he's talking about - he has his own law firm in the Southpark area. Tests are tough but MC. He tells you what questions will be on exams beforehand. PPTs not posted online.
Anyone complaining about the course is a slacker. I'm not super smart, but I showed up to class, took notes, made a study guide based on the "hints" he gives you before each exam, and I finished with an A. Chesson is super sassy and loves calling people out, and its hilarious! The night class is long, but he makes it bearable. Don's buy the book!
He gives 3 tests. The first one is an easy A. The next 2 are full of True or False which in my opinion should not determine if you know the subject. Changing a word around in the sentence is a dumb way to test students. Would take again though. Just find the notes from someone and DO NOT BUY THE BOOK!
Only 3 tests/grades in the semester. YOU DO NOT NEED THE BOOK. He says you do but you don't. Everything you need to know for the tests are in the lectures.
He doesn't put the notes online. Make sure you study your notes many times before he even tells you what to study. The class before the test he will let you know what to study. There are only 3 tests grades, so make sure you do good on them. On the first test you need to know the law schools from the book, but just ask someone who has the book.
Chesson is funny and a decent lecturer. He talks A LOT but incorporates stories and real-life examples, which makes the material easier to understand. I honestly think you could get a B or even an A if you didn't buy the book. His tests are only off of his lectures, but the book can help you learn the material.
Professor Chesson is a great teacher. He is very clear as to what we need to study for the exam. There is a total of three exams and he will tell you exactly what you need to know for the exam. I took his class during summer and his tests consists of true/false questions and multiple choice. Overall he is a great teacher!
Still have 2 tests but I'm not sweating it. You do NOT need the book! You DO need to copy his PP's down as that's exactly what is on the test and he doesn't post anything on canvas. He will tell you exactly what to study for the exam. You need to know a few court cases. He lists them on PP's but doesn't put the issue. 3 tests are your only grade.
only grades are 3 tests, not study guide. only person teaching so good luck
Chesson is a nice professor but the final grade only comes from the average of three exams. Harsh grade reduction for not coming to class and if you do, you will miss a ton of material as he does not post his material online. The exams are worded in a way that confuses you while taking, so study hard and know the definitions like you know your name
Goes through slides that are paragraphs long quickly, snap pics don't even try to write/type shorthand because you need to know it word for word. Don't buy the book, attendance is counted against you but does not help your grade so you have to show up. Only three exams that are mostly true/false and he tricks you by tweaking one or two words.
There are 3 tests. Attendance is necessary but it doesn't aid in your grade, but he does take off after so many missed days. He's really sweet, but he only reads from the slides. I barely made a B. I recommend taking notes with someone else. Study much in advance. Very True/False heavy on the 2nd exam. T/F will def mess you up on the exams.
Proffesor Chesson is one of the nicest proffesors I have had. Youre aloud three absences without penalty. Lectures are note heavy and power points are not online. However, the tests come STRAIGHT from the notes and he tells you exactly what material to study. Tests include T/F which can trick you up so study hard and you will do fine!
The only bad thing about this class is your grade is ONLY exams. The good thing is Chesson will read off everything you need to study for the exam in order. He doesn't post his slides and more than 3 absences kills your grade so GO TO CLASS. He is very funny and credible so he makes a boring subject not so boring.
DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. He will tell you that it is required but all of the material is covered in his slides. Use a laptop to type notes rather than write them because you need to know everything on the slides for the exam. Tests are mostly true/false. He makes his lectures interesting and usually ends class early.
Takes attendance, each absence over 3 drops final grade by 2 points. Only 3 tests, no other grades. You're gonna take notes if you don't know someone, so get them. Tests can be tricky with a lot of T/F. First test is easy, so make sure you do good. He is an old man, but has great stories that'll keep you entertained.
You are only graded by 3 exams which are very tricky. There are lost of true/false questions that are hard to tell the difference within the question. Professor Chesson is old but will still catch you being on your phone, eating, talking, etc! Be prepared to take tons of notes each day and to study them really well prior to the exam. Good luck.
He is a practicing lawyer outside of class so he incorporates real world examples to help you understand the material. He reads off every question on your exams the class period before the exam day, which is super helpful as an study guide. The exam material comes directly from his lectures but he never posts the slides on Canvas.
Attendance policy is a little ridiculous considering it doesnt count towards your final grade. 3 tests only which are tricky if you dont remember his notes word for word.
Make sure to go to class because the tests come directly from the stuff he goes over in class. I don't know why people say his tests are hard because he literally gives you every question that will be on the exam in the class before. He's such a sweet man and he's so passionate about what he is teaching
Such a sweet old man and is still a practicing lawyer. He takes attendance and more than 2 absences will significantly affect your grade. He doesn't put his lectures online so make sure to take notes in class, he gives you plenty of time. Frequently get out of class 10-15 minutes early. First test is pretty easy but the second is T/F heavy
He doesn't care about how much info he is teaching. try to avoid him
Nice guy, mainly T/F tests are not so nice. Still passable. Could have aced the class but I never went so I might fail. He'll tell you that you HAVE to buy the book, but you will never need it. Gives you all the questions for each exam. If you take his class and plan on having horrible attendance, take notes on a shared document with someone.
I have had Professor Chesson for Business Law I and II. He's a great professor. Show up to class and take notes off of his power points. He will tell you to read the book, but he only tests you on his PP's. He has 3 tests, which compose your entire grade. He has a lot of experience practicing law, and will share war stories.
Avoid him. He is careless
super easy A test 1 and 3 are online. watch out for test 2 alot of true false. if you take notes and show up you will pass easy
to clarify i mean you can find both tests on quizlet. not both tests are taken online!
The tests are super easy if you listen to what he says the class before the tests. You absolutely need to take notes, and you should definitely take notes on a laptop because he goes very quickly. Your grade is just 3 tests. He's a kind old man. YOU DON'T NEED THE TEXTBOOK.
