Mr. Tan is very nice to all students. There are 4 exams and 1 final for ACC 202. Every exam contains in-class portion and online portion. The most important thing is final is NOT cumulative!!! and you always get some free points for the in-class portion. I would definitely recommend taking his class.

Professor Calvin Tan, is a great teacher. His heavy accent may come into a factor if you plan on taking his class. His class is based on WileyPlus and 4 exams. The homework is not too hard because he does provide online video explanations. If you don't understand what's going on, you can stop and ask him for help. He's very nice with grading.

Prof. Tan was a very helpful professor. His assignments and grading was very clear. He was always reachable and thoroughly answered any questions about problems. He held multiple review sessions so that most students could make it. If you have questions, catch him in the Kopiko Lab, he is always there. He will most likely not reply to emails.

By far one of the best professors I've had at KCC! Shows genuine concern for his students and makes himself easily accessible. ACC is a tough course, but he is great at breaking down the information. This was by far the hardest class I have ever taken. The subject itself is almost impossible to understand unless you study for hours. Professor Tan makes the class just a little bit more bearable. I took his BUS 250 class, it was mainly about calculous mathematics. It was not uneasy to pass the course. Although, after every big test, he curved the score, so it really helped us to pass the course. When he cannot cover the class assignment in lecture, he uploaded the video of class assignment, so that helped us to do the class assignments.

BUS 250 is a hard class but Professor Tan makes it a bit bearable. He doesn't take attendance but I suggest you do still come to class. There are a lot of homework but he spreads it out and if it's not finished, he will make a video for your guys. There are projects that are due on test day but don't worry, he will set study session.

Id say this was the hardest course Ive ever taken. This is a very tough class but Professor Tan is approachable & is willing to help students. Since it is Covid season, it was really tough for me. When I was sick or whenever I asked to extend the due date for the assignment, he accepted and it saved me a lot. I think the powerpoint slides helped me to understand but the youtube video was really long. He's nice.

This class was very easy because all of the exams are given more than the time you will need. The final exam is not cumulative, only the multiple-choice part is. There are assisting tools for all homework and exams.

There is always homework every week, but all of the resources are available to you. This is a class where you have to manage your time well or else you will slack off and not have enough time to really learn and understand the material. However, the teacher is great! I like how Prof. Tan posts his lecture on Laulima and making us understand the course, and his homework needs to do at MyLab IT but also have the homework example to help us. However, there are three exams this semester, two of them which need to take only 1 hour, so it needs to pay more attention and in a hurry. If you can handle online, take it!

The class is pretty clear on what needs to be done weekly. Be prepared to do a lot of homework and make sure that you know the material well when taking the test.

This class is totally doable. Assignments and tests are straightforward. I didn't have to read much of the textbook because he posts lecture videos on Laulima, so you can just watch them and do the assignments. Professor responds to email pretty quickly and he is willing to help the students. I honestly learned a lot about Word and Excel here.

Professor Tan is a good professor and I learned a lot in this class by learning how to use Tableau and Excel. However, we started late on some assignments, doesn't respond to emails quickly, and I wish he was able to return our homework and quizzes for feedback.

A caring and helpful professor always tries to respond to student emails as soon as he can. Helps students who have troubles with homework questions and does his best to explain and give hints.

He is very knowledgeable in the subject and seems very caring. No mandatory class meeting, but he does have videos that you can use to help you. Some assignments/exam questions were not taught till later after the fact, so had to rely on outside help to complete it. Prof. Tan is willing to help you, but at times he respond a bit late with email.

This class is overall great. One thing I would change would be telling us via email about when the optional meetings are occuring.

ACC261B was a great class to learn excel for accounting. Professor Tan was very accessible outside of class hours and he hosted weekly zoom sessions if we had any questions. He also had lecture videos of going through the assignments and labs that we can follow along with.

I enjoyed the Excel class. This was all online so most of the assignments were done through a program, weekly. He had videos for you to watch but the training exercises on the program was a great way to get hands-on practice. The assignments are very easy but the separate assignments he created were a little confusing.

Great professor for a tough subject. He kept it simple and easy to understand what to learn, what to do, and what was due. It doesn't get any simpler with him. Plus he is funny.

Read the textbook and do homework on Mindtap. Textbook was a bit unnecessary since Microsoft's official page showed how to do same thing but online access was bundled together. Assignments was opened at the start of the semester with due dates listed, so you can sort of work at your own pace. No group project, 3 exams and small forms postings.

Just 1 group project throughout a semester, and no mandatory. He is funny and explains well if you ask questions about homework, such as how to do exercises or solve problems in textbook.

It took an average of 1-2 hours per week to do homework, depending on the chapter, so not too heavy of a workload. Overall, I enjoyed the class and got a lot out of it. Because the class was 100% online due to COVID, I didn't get very much interaction with prof Tan, but he seems very nice. When I did have questions he responded quickly to email.

This class was relatively easy, but it is important to be on top of your homework and organize your assignments. We had 2 different textbooks, so that meant our homework came from various places. COVID made our class fully remote, so I did not have very much interaction with Prof. Tan, but he seems very nice and responded quickly to emails.

This was a class focused on Excel for Accounting. There were many simple concepts we reviewed at the beginning that was good to get used to Mindtap/Cengage online platform, and then moved into more complex features. Course material is practical. I've already applied so many skills learned from this class to work.

To a degree, similar to ACC255 (Excel for ACC) plus we used Tableau to demonstrate similar work using different software. Some concepts overlapped ACC252 (QBO) too so it was familiar to go through. Okay overall - Connect platform was confusing at the beginning but easy assignments if you follow the walkthrough videos.

As with all online classes, you work independently. Professor Calvin gives good explanations and responds to emails when he can. Very nice and easy to talk to.

Professor Tan's class was unorganized for a long time. The Laulima site was not ready until weeks after the class had begun. There were mistakes and miss labeled dates and test passwords in the syllabus. However the work was fairly easy to do as long as you study and don't fall behind. Overall good class if you want to take math online.

He is super nice to us and also grade fast!

I enjoyed taking Professor Tan this summer. Despite it being an online course, Professor Tan made the course enjoyable. There were quite a few WileyPlus assignments and one group project. But if you stay on top of your work and watch the lectures, you should be fine!

Professor Tan is an awesome teacher; very helpful, knowledgeable, kind. However, the concepts covered in this class are extremely difficult. Especially if you're so-so at math. Taking it during summer gets it out of the way quickly, but the course moves very fast. Overall, I would take a class with Professor Tan again but never take BUS 250.

Professor Tan was a great professor! It's clear that he cares about his students and wants them to succeed. This was one of the most difficult courses I have taken. Be ready to study! If I had to take this course again I would choose professor Tan. Thank you

Well prepared class and fast email replying!!!

This class was definitely difficult, however Professor Tan was very available for help. I took this asynchronously over the summer so the pace was very fast like any other summer class. If math is something you struggle with I would not recommend taking this over the summer because there is a new lesson and homework pretty much every other day.

Calvin Tan is an awesome professor that knows this field very well. He is available for assistance whenever you need and gives you all the materials needed to excel in this course. You should take his course if you can!

Professor Calvin is very helpful outside of class and the lectures are easy to understand and follow so that if you have any thing you don't understand you can email him about the topics that are covered. Homework assignments and exams are on Wiley Plus. The PowerPoints were easy to understand because it is very organized into different categories.

Lecture videos and Power Point slides are very organized so that you can prepare for the exams. Instructions for discussion posts are very clear and concise.

Professor Tan has lot's of homework, but it is to be expected when taking an accounting course. He is very helpful and has lots of prerecorded lectures that he has posted through the Laulima site. If you don't keep up however it is very easy to fall behind.

we got forum every week if you need help then the best way to understand or want to know how to do is participate every week zoom meeting but you can email him also and he will reply you back as soon as possible.

ACC202 is difficult but he always helped me. Whenever I asked questions, his response was quick and kindly answered the questions. There are lot of homework to do, but it's worth doing it to mater accounting.

Professor Tan is one of the best math teachers to take. All the homework is open from the start of the semester, there are weekly forums, and 3 exams. But nothing too difficult it is very manageable, and easy to keep up because of the weekly checklist given. Not to mention gives out a couple of extra credit opportunities throughout the semester.

I love his class. I took 201 and 202. If you do all your assignment, you can get at least B.

Prof. Tan is an expert in EXCEL. He teaching is very understandable and easy to follow. I'm taking the next level of this course.

He is one of the most caring instructor who responses to all of your emails, and coordinate with your team project from other courses you take that need guidance or helping you to get involve with an internship opportunity as well. I like his short teaching videos that prevent you from being tired or confused.

Prof Tan is simply great. Accounting is really not my thing but he provided SO MANY lecture videos for this online class that it made it bearable to go through such a tedious subject. He is a MUST-TAKE if you are looking for Accounting classes at KCC. His classes fill up super quick! So make sure you try to get his class(es) early!

If there were no group projects I'd probably give it a 5 star, but overall easy class with a lot of reading. Everything is textbook and an overall great class to be in.

We used WileyPlus for a majority of the work in this class. Wiley does help explain things and Professor Tan also has videos and other resources we can use in order to understand things further. Wiley definitely makes you work and accounting can be tedious in general but overall it's fine if you do the work.

Very helpful and easy to approach. Seems genuine in wanting students to succeed.

He'll give us a lot of extra credit opportunities and give us feedback. Just be aware that you'll have a group project and a bit heavy but a fair amount of works. overall He is the best professor in the Accounting division.

Pretty Straight forward class. Professor was reachable for questions, with optional zoom meetings every week.

He is an awesome teacher for me. However, if you arent good at self-paced classes, you might face difficulties. Homeworks are a bit a lot sometimes, but you can catch up if you spend enough time on it.

I very recommend Professor Tan if you want to learned more about accounting. His materials is very organized, not hard but you still need time to do it and hes very helpful if you have any questions. The excel class was fun!

Enjoyed this online course. I appreciate he breaks up the lecture videos by learning objective rather then just one hour long lecture. It made it easier to go back and find info on a topic if you get stuck

Whole course is laid out so hardly any surprises. Assignment are consist so are the due dates, bhut still double check the dates. So long as you read the book you'll be good.

We used the textbook publisher's website for most assignments and they were all accessible from Day 1. As long as you kept up, you could work at your own pace. When I knew I would be busy with personal things, I worked ahead so I had a couple weeks "off". I didn't really need to communicate with the professor since everything was already laid out.

Classwork, homework and quizzes are on Cengage. Outline of class assignments are laid out and you can work ahead if you want. I liked this ability. If you have any questions, he will answer them via email and will set up Zoom if needed. I was able to do it all myself and learned a lot about Excel in this class. I would take this class again.
