wow. she is such a nice teacher. love the class. but you got to do the reading for the test which arent that hard if you do teh reading. and there is alot of extra credit. fun class she engaes teh students and its not boring.

She's a pretty cool teacher and all, but i would avoid the class. There are some unfair group work in class. personally, she's a pretty easy teacher, but i would've much rather taken the class with queen. very laid back and easy.

Hastings is interesting because she won't give you her political opinion. I really like this because you look at the material objectively and not with her bias. Always willing to help and explain if you don't understand something. I do recommend her.

If you guys think Professor Hastings is tough or boring, you seriously need to get a new perspective on life. Prof. Hasings cultivated class debates like no tomorrow. There wasn't a single person in class who didn't enjoy it. Tests are a breeze if you pay attention. I pulled off a 99% in it.

Hastings > Queen any day of the week. Listening to Prof. Hastings was great because she was always open to class debates, and unlike Queen, I didn't feel like I was listening to a washing machine for an hour and a half. DEFINITELY one of the best teachers, in spite of being her first year at GCC

Mrs Hastings is a very smart and fair teacher. She offers a fair ammount of extra credit. The tests are difficult so you must study and read the book. Getting a B in the class requires work but an A is very difficult. But she is an excellent professor and made the class very interesting.

If you want to get an easy A, this teacher is for you; if you want to learn something in class, DO NOT take her. You are going to be wasting your entire time on stupid presentations and simulations, but will not learn anything related to politics.

Mrs. Hastings is a very fun, interesting and educated professor. Even though some topics might be a bit boring for some students, she still finds many ways to make it fun and still educate the entire class on the subject. I would highly recommened her for any political science majors.

Great teacher! Group assignment is easy (well.....really depending on how dedictaed your is, pick the right people for your group). Gives a study guide for her exam and essay. Study them well and you'll do great.

Can this class be any easier? She practically tells you exactly what's going to be on her quiz because before the quiz we get into groups and do a review sheet. Whatever is on the review sheet appears on her quiz. Too easy.

Take her! Very easy class. I did not buy the book, and still got an A. Sit next to smart people, as you will need them for the group project. Make sure you do well on the current events stuff, it is worth quite a bit. If you do all of the homework (each assignment is maybe 20 minutes), you will get a C, even if you bomb tests.

Sexy frickin' voice and demeanor, for one thing. Initiates plenty of class discussion. Group projects are fun as can be. Only downside is that when she says you won't have time to write well on essay exam, she means it. Just scribble down the facts and concepts and move on because you'll run out of time otherwise.

Excellent instructor. Like in any other class you have to pay attention, read and study in order to pass. Fair grader. She doesn't give her personal political opinions. She lets you form your own opinions and respect them. I highly recommend her. She is one of the best.

The students I noticed who didn't get A's in her class were either foreign exchange students or students who were not raised speaking english(eventhough they speak english fluently). Overall I thought her class was easy, as long as you read what she assigns you and try to understand the concepts thoroughly. Very interesting class too!

very nice teacher! her quizes aren't that fun to take, and she has one every first meeting of the week on your reading for the weekend...she uses the book a lot but she's a nice and caring person, she will help you out in any way possible...and she gives you a progress sheet foryou to fill and keep traack of your grades, so no BSing of grades.

She may be one of the best instructors at Glendale. Be prepared to write in answers for quizzes and exams as she is NOT lazy enough for mult.choice. Her method of teaching is by means of power point/lecture and she is very clear. You will NOT waste an entire semester memorizing crap---she makes it interesting AND you WILL learn!

I was worried about taking Political Science at college as I had heard all professors were biased. Not the case here. Very neutral and discusses issues from many different angles. Was an absolute breath of fresh air from usual biases.

Person below me has some issues because she is nothing what they make her seem out to be. She is a good teacher and I learned a LOT of info on gov., and politics and how it all works. She speaks to the students as a friend not a teacher and can realate to her students. Just read the BOOK! It's not that hard, not to mention she is a looker :)

This professor is one of the best I have ever seen at GCC,she's there to answer your questions, she emails you asap, she gives study guides, and posts everything on her web page. Make sure you read, you get 6 quizzes and one dropped, you also get a campaign project to work on with a group. Overall, this professor both strict and friendly

She really is a good teacher. emails you back, no final, instead you have a campaign simulation. she knows her stuff, and doesn't mind explaining it to you over again. her tests were easy as long as you studied her study guide. TAKE HER! she does drop a quiz grade :)she's funny too.

I was dreading taking this class but she made it so much fun! You get to run a mock election and most of your grade is based on that group project. This class was soo easy and she is so nice to everyone. This was a night class and I was tired after work but I always looked forward to her class especially the election.. Definitely pick her class!

she is one of the greatest teachers you would ever have! if you are a political science major, she will make you feel like you are a political scientist. she is wonderful, however her classes do require work but she makes every word and every chapter worth it!

In such a big class, you don't get much personal attention. The subject matter is fairly simple, but the class can get very boring. Definitely study for the tests and try to pay attention in class. There is a big simulation campaign at the end, but it's the same # of points as an essay. You do your final early though, which can reduce stress.

Pay attention to her notes, read the chapters for quizzes---> worded tricky so be careful, Make sure you come to class and work hard. I got an A, but I worked the hardest I've ever done for a class. In general politics aren't my forte, but she makes it interesting and fun to learn about. Take her

She is a great teacher. Students who had a hard time cannot blame her. The tests and quizzes are straight from the book and class lectures. It is not an easy subject but she does her best teaching it. If you like this subject, take Hastings, you will enjoy the class.

She gives study guides with terms. For the multiple choice, MEMORIZE the definitions from the book and lectures and youre good to go. As for the essay portion, you really need to know your stuff. Although her quizzes online were pretty hard, vague, and tricky so be careful. You also run your own campaign but I found the directions a little unclear.

if ps is ur major take her class. yes she may be diffcult but u learn things that u can apply to ur future ps classes. very helpful, when YOU ask her. its not elementary school ppl u have to put the effort to get a good grade. shes a good teacher take her if u wanna learn something!

Fairly easy class ONLY IF you take notes and pay attention. Quizzes are online and are easy to pass. Grading system is fair, but tests are difficult. She's a great teacher but there is no room to slack off or be lazy in this class. If you don't know the material, you will have a lot of trouble.

Great teacher. If you are a hard worker and want to learn about politics, take her. I got a B and it was really hard to maintain. Only two tests and about five or six online quizzes. Instead of final exam, there's a big assignment. Lots of poli sci major students took her. Although it was a hard class, I recommend her.

I took her again thinking it would be the same as 101. She assigns lots of reading 100pg/wk. not complaining about that though. She gives a study guide w/ bunch of terms. only 3 end up on the test. I dropped the class but im still glad i had her cause all her readings were interesting. take her if you have a lot of time on ur hands or a pol major

Hastings is great. If you want to get an A keep up on current events, participate in class, go to office hours & DO THE READING. Two tests, 8 online quizzes, a couple of written assignments & a mock campaign assignment at end of semester. She gives u study guides with the terms for tests. Study, take notes & u can get an A.

Great teacher, you have to read chapters assigned but she is very nice. Only two test with 4 questions each or so, hand written test no multiple choice. easy class and fun towards the end of the semester, you get online quizzes and get three times to take them best score stays. Class total is only out of 250 points! good class you learn a lot.

Dr Hastings is a really tough cookie. She can have an attitude but only when it's warranted. She makes you read A LOT! But when it comes to exams she very specific and clear about what she wants. I think she was one of my best teachers at GCC!

Hastings is a great human being. She wants her students to succeed and will do whatever it takes in helping clarify international relations. Her class was fun. We became like a family. Grades are based on reading quizzes and two exams. Reading is from 60-100 pages every week. Not easy, but well worth taking.

Shes a great teacher, make sure you read the articles and understand them, the quizes have a lot of questions about them. You grade comes from quizes and 2 midterms and some smaller ez points. You really do meet a lot of people and actually have a lot of fun at the end. Good amount of reading...but if you do it youll get an A.

This class was very good and professor Hastings is awesome. Quizzes require you to read quite a bit, but you take them online and have 3 chances for each one. There are 2 major exams that require an essay and some short answers which require a decent amount of studying. NO FINAL, just a campaign simulation for the last few weeks which is fun!

It was so easy to keep track of my grade with Professor Hastings! Readings and weekly quizzes, which are fairly easy. Two tests (if you pay attention in class it should be easy). A couple of homework assignments, reasonable deadlines given! Don't think twice about taking Professor Hastings!

She is awesome. there's reading to be done like any other class. You're able to retake the quizzes online and are able to track your grade. I truly recommend her.

I LOVED this class. She is one of those teachers who puts a lot of thought into every reading and assignment. Prof Hastings is super nice. I feel like she does a lot of hand-holding, so I don't get why so many people find her to be difficult. I would say her class was not even basic college-level difficulty. She's incredibly clear about what is expected of you, and her lessons are easy to understand. Great teacher for a typically boring class.

She gives you everything you need to know on the test. Tests are very general, but if you need specific examples, she will clearly point them out to you prior to testing. The best part about the class was the simulated congressional runs. Very fun.

Professor Hastings' class is quite easy...IF you read the textbook along with the assigned readings & take really good notes during class. During the semester she gives out 2 exams that are easy to pass...if you study well! Plus, 10 point quizzes each week. Overall if you want to pass this class take really good notes, read, and pass your quizzes!

Prof Hastings , is amazing ! two tests and 7 quizzes (can drop lowest grade ) .She goes thoroughly the main important topics for the tests . She is very easy to access and offers extra credit! Easy and very fun class! I have taken all of my political science with professor Hastings .

She's an amazing professor who actually knows what she's talking about. Veryyyy smart and helpful. Don't expect to pass the class without reading the book! Her tests are straight forward. Professor Hastings is very passionate about politics and her lectures are unbiased. Im not a huge fan of Political Science, but Dr. Hastings made the class enjoyable. Her lectures were clear and concise. The class consisted of 7 quizzes which are easy if you do the reading, two exams which are easy to pass if you study she provides you with a comprehensive study guide in advance. Finally a debate simulation which was fun.

My favourite professor ever. Her lectures are amazing and her passion for the subject is contagious. She made the class fun with cool projects. It's super important to keep up with the reading and show up to class but if you put in effort, you should definitely get an A. I'd take her for every poli sci class if I could.

Professor Cameron is great, don't be fooled by the negative comments. If you're a poli sci major (or any social science major really), you need to get used to reading a lot. This class will help you with that.

She is AMAZING. She is funny, her lectures are interesting and she always ready to help. If your major is political science, take her. The exams are not easy, but if you do the study guides, you will be fine. If you have any questions, she always ready to help. From her class, you can learn a lot, just do the homework and be in class.

Doesn't give homework but lots of reading. You must take good notes during lectures. Responsibility is on you to grasp the lessons. Tests were tough, required a lot of writing, she really wants you to prove you understand the content. Took this class as a transfer requirement but ended up really loving it and I still use the information I learned.

Professor Hastings is a great professor, she opens the class up for discussions and offers a study session for those who need it before the exams. The exams are challenging but it really helps to attend class and utilize the study guide. The majority of the points are earned in the first 12 weeks of class and the last 4 are dedicated to the project

Professor Hastings is great! As a non pol-sci major she made it really interesting and related everything back to current events. Her tests are huge with a lot of writing but if you take good notes in class and really understand the concepts then they're really not that hard to get a good grade on.

Hastings does a good job of breaking down the information into simpler terms to help you understand. Your grade is mostly dependent on two free response tests. Make sure you thoroughly understand the concepts/theories found in the readings prior to taking the test as you will be pressed for time. If you are a poli sci major take her.

I'm now at UCLA and in all honesty, Hastings was the only Prof at GCC whose class was comparable to university-level coursework. I definitely studied a lot but ended up with an A. She's great if you put in the work. But if your writing sucks and you just want an easy class- this is not the professor for you!

Hastings is the best professor ever. Her lectures are so interesting and to the point and she is such a genuine person. Her class is structured for you to enjoy! Take her and you'll love international relations. She really influenced my education and I still remember what I learned from her at my 4 year.

Professor Hastings was my favorite professor from GCC. Poli sci is definitely not related to my major yet I got an A in this class because of the professor! She explains the subject very very well and makes it very interesting. Everything is on canvas and timed quizzes are an opportunity to raise your grade! Project instead of final.

She did assign a ton of readings both from the book and online. You had quizzes (10 points) for each chapter(s). Good thing she gave extra points for answering recent news questions for the midterm and final. If you're a political science major it will be interesting and useful, but you'll have to work for an A or a B no matter what.

Dr. Hastings is one of my favorite professors. I took her 103 class, and I am currently taking her 108 hybrid course. Both classes are very interesting. She is passionate about the subject, and her class is truly enjoyable. She is extremely knowledgeable, and always available to help. Thank you Dr. Hastings / World Council! I recommend the classes!

Super fun class! I took her for the spring of 2020 (so it was online class), see the lectures before class or before the test and once you get to class you discuss about the lecture. The test are based of the lecture and the book so make sure to read. Towards the end of class we had a group project was a lot of fun, it wasnt hard just do your part.

Take Dr. Hastings! She is super intelligent and knows exactly how to convey the material. You will learn a lot through her lectures, so take a extensive notes. She does assign a lot of readings that are essential to the class, so do not skip out on them and expect to pass. She tells you what will be on the tests, and the final is a group assignment

I took her class in fall 2019. During the lectures, there'd be questions on the slides and students would have to turn to each other and answer on a sheet of paper. Extra credit is available. There's a big project about campaigning for house of representatives. Do the study guide early. Make sure to read textbook and other documents.

i took this class during Fall 2020 and it was amazing, really cool and fun professor. she is always joking and laughing, i also found it so interesting coming from a Poli Sci major. class is based on current world issues and politics which i loved, if you are not interested in those topics this class may not be the fit for you.

Professor Hastings' class may require a fair amount of studying, however, she is the best PoliSci professor at GCC. Her lectures are interesting and engaging. The course material is relevant to the real-world. The class is made up of short homework assignments, quizzes, discussions, and 2 essays, so your grade isn't just reliant on one thing.

Ive taken three classes with Professor Hastings, and shes absolutely amazing especially if PoliSci is your major. Her assignments are clear, lectures are interactive, and quizzes fair.

I really like her as an instructor. There's a lot of reading and quizzes are timed - 10 min for 10 question multiple-choice quizzes was difficult for me because I have ADHD and reading comprehension is more difficult especially under time constraints. They hurt my grade so it made this class extra difficult and I was glad for extra credit option.

This professor is really amazing, although the course is heavy on reading, assignments, quizzes, and policy memos, she really tries to clarify everything and gives a chance to correct if she sees you misunderstood on your policy memo. she makes the class atmosphere so interactive and fun. She makes the material super clear. I LOVE HER

Really enjoyed taking professor Hastings class! The homework isnt hard but there are a lot of discussion posts. Their are short quizzes after every chapter but they are super straight forward. I would definitely take her again!

Professor Hastings is a very good teacher. Her class is not easy because you have many readings for all weeks, and assignments are not easy either. There are many extra credit events in Zoom. For a better grade, you need to work hard, do all readings. Participation also matters - you will have a Zoom grade. The final is an interesting simulation.

Really great professor. She knows what shes doing. U will not be confused in her class ever. Everything is clear. The work load is quite alot but the Professor does explain everything well and makes it comfortable to ask when confused. Shes engaging and has great group work ideas. Be prepared to do a good amount of homework though it is a majority of your grade. I took her for 101 and 103

I took both her 102 and 103 and she is the best political science teacher I have had. Makes the material very easy to understand and is available when you have questions.

I had Political Science 103 in Fall, and 102 in the Spring semesters. Professor makes the lessons very interesting. You need to read the chapters in order to be ready for quizzes and unit assessments. All other assignments are interesting too and all of them help to understand the material and the course well. If you work hard - you can earn an A!

She is def a nice teacher. I received a C and that was my fault. She gave us a chance to turn in last min assignments to higher our grade and I never got, but over all a sweet teacher who likes to see her students laugh and shes passionate in her teaching.

You for sure have to work hard in this class! But trust me, it'll pay off and you'll learn so much! Dr Hastings is awesome and super smart. She also gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. Take her class if you're here to learn!!!

Dr.Hastings is a great professor there are a few writing assignments including summative assessment (4) that require you to prove your stance on government, online book is provided you will need to read a few articles and watch videos to complete the written responses. Our final was to incorporate everything we learned to run a political campaign.

Hastings's class is incredible! She made the class very fun with wonderful class discussions. There is a good amount of reading that needs to be done each week but not a lot of work itself. She also ends the semester with a very fun group project where you run your own campaign which gives such good insight into the world of politics!

I like this professor. She does a good job explaining the material and rarely shows her biases which I greatly appreciate since she encourages us to think for ourselves. She also makes homework bearable by giving us a fun assignment here and there. Any gripes I have are just nitpicks. Take this class if you want a fun time. 9/10

Professor Hastings is arguably one of the best professors at GCC. There was never a dull moment, the lectures were always interesting, and she did her best to make sure they were very interactive by asking feedback from us students. Workload was reasonable, readings were assigned, and a summative assessment every unit. Final project was really fun!

I took 102 and 103, and I am a current student at UC Berkeley. Let me tell you, she is a GEM. Everything she has taught me I use here and am significantly ahead of my peers because I know how to write specific poli sci papers. She is an amazing professor and an amazing person, you will learn SO MUCH! Absolutely take both classes with her.

Hastings is a great professor and you should get a decent grade if you pay attention and follow along in class. She has many extra credit opportunities usually attending a meeting for some on campus club. There's no midterm or final, throughout the semester you need to write 3 600 word essays. Overall she's a great teacher and I would retake

Professor Hastings is a gem! Her classes are challenging but rewarding. She makes the material engaging and is always available to help. Using unstuck AI and the free textbook have been key to acing this course.

She gives so many opportunities to bring grades up but beware that her tests are a bit difficult, she gives study guides weeks in advance so if you put time into it you're good. She's very easy to reach for help and overall is a very good professor (just don't be lazy). If you're a polisci major and want to actually learn, take her class!

The class isn't an easy A but she's so easy to access outside of class and gives so many opportunities to bring up your grade

I really liked her class, the students made it enjoyable. She is very lenient in my opinion. For everyone saying her class is hard, you're probably not studying or doing the homework because it was an easy A. Also, there is some group work here and there so choose your group wisely, and she offers extra credit. Overall 10/10.

THE best professor ever! I can't even explain how much I enjoyed this class. Her lectures are amazing, she knows the material very well. Exams are hard, so you'll definitely need to read a lot, but she's a GEM.

Easy and understanding teacher. We did not have exams or a final when I took her. We had reading quizzes, but they were planned and easy to prepare for. Attendance is mandatory and you shouldn't skip any lectures. There were three unit assessments which were graded fairly. She is a great teacher overall.

im not a 4.0 student but if you go to class, pay attention, and turn everything in you can get an A. I was sick for the last 2 weeks and didn't turn in my final project and still passed with a B, mind you I had a C average on her exams. Also go to office hours if you find the class hard. She's not an easy A but if you want learn take her!!!

Best prof ever! :) Took the class in the spring, 3 unit exams (each had a study guide), short written responses weekly-ish, easy at-home assignments, and a campaign simulation for the final. Plus extra credit opportunities, most of them were attending an on-campus event and filling out a reflection form. Just attending lecture will help you pass!
