He doesnt give clear instructions, he doesnt mark papers until months later, doesnt help you with in class assignments, didn't learn anything

He is opinionated and reluctant to accept any way but his own. Marking scheme is vague and his comments on my essays were rude and abrasive in a mocking, condescending way.

This guy just gives you random marks. It doesn't matter how hard you try. If he doesn't like you, you are going to be screwed. End of story.

The major problem with the class was total lack of feedback. Our assignments were not graded and we had no feedback. How can students improve their writing skills if there is no guidance? I highly recommend students to try other COMM 390 profs. Especially if they are keen on learning.

He is a boring teacher and you will learn nothing. Too much readings and preparation that you have to do before class but it was useless in class. Tough grader for class contribution. You will not receive the grade that you work hard for in this class.

Some feedback I got on written assignments were condescending and the grading was not proportional to the effort I put in. I missed an important assignment due to illness. I turned in a doctor's note later, but it was rejected, and I lost 20% off my mark. So, don't break stringent policies. Good lecturer, assignments are straightforward.

This professor seems to be really good at the start. Once you started getting feedback from your presentations, that is where your nightmare starts. It is pretty obvious he does not mark the presentation seriously. He does not give a constructive comment or simply "Interesting content". Additionally, his lecture is really boring and hard to focus.

This prof is a nightmare. Lectures are very boring. He gives comments like "interesting content", which is not useful at all. I have had a presentation slide without any words, ONLY with ONE picture in it, and he commented things to improve as "Use grammatically correct english in slide", seriously? Avoid this prof, other profs are way much better.

Very disorganized class, and Cameron answers questions with questions like he didn't care about his students. Most frustrating course at Sauder. Don't take if with him if you want to learn

Dead easy if you make Cameron believe that you think he's the guru. Agree with him in class and go to office hours and give him a way to talk about himself. Tell him how amazing and useful his class is and how much you want to be his TA cuz you loved it so much. Easiest A I've ever got

Bizarre course. No substance or practical use, just a platform for professor to talk about his own views and what he's done. He makes it seem like he's doing a huge to you teaching this class, and won't talk about grades. Just bizarre.

doesn't care about students at all, his idea of good communications is basically bad flirting. guy is shamelss. truly awful

Cameron is not a good instructor. Hes got a temper, gives vague instructions, and inaccessible outside of class. Very rigid in class. Hard to follow

Professor was very difficult. A lot of focus on himself, not much on course material. He didnt seem to care much about the class

I regret taking this class. Coverage lacks substance and depth and Morrell presents his opinions as facts. He's very political and is very aggressive about it also easily offended. You get very little guidance what's expects and marks are all over the place. Terrible all round.

At first I couldn't tell what was more useless. The course itself or Cameron. I am now certain it is him. The whole course is him talking about personal anecdotes and how to be a good communicator, but he sucks at communicating. Kind of ironic. Seems like a sensitive person as other comments say. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

It's a stretch calling this a 3rd year course. The content is laughably thin and Cameron only seems interested in self promotion. Lecture is him talking about his achievements, his awards, how he's so innovative and his teaching will change and inspire you. If you ask about homework or grades he'll literally laugh you off, it's unreal.

Morrell was so bad. All he does is talk about himself, a lot of exaggeration no self awareness. He only knows one language but claims he is a translator?! Worked in marketing at CBC and now claims he is a journalist and producer. No teaching in class, just talk, talk, talk. Will not speak about grades or homework and blames you for not trying.

Cameron's far too self-absorbed, too much pride. Doesn't help that his expertise isn't there. He talks about a lot of things but he's out of his depth, he tries to compensate by being loud and assertive so lectures are very off putting. He explains his marks as his first take, his expertise so he won't explain more and changes subject.

Morrell cares only about whether you agree with him and if you went to office hours to agree with him some more. To do well you have to go to office hours and tell him how insightful he is and how blind everyone else its. Unbelievable the amount of validation he needs, he's not here to teach at all.

Class was poor, Cameron goes off topic too often and makes things up, never respnd to me emails. Told us to be creative on assignments but marks based on whatever he wants, random marks. So bad don't take.

This was my least favorite class. Morrell speds a lot of time talking about nothing, really, an hour circling back to the same thing, usually something about him or his family. He likes to cut students off too, I found that rude. Grades are released very late. Bad class.

What is this class? No instructions, class time is Morrell talking about whatever he feels like, no objectives or anything. Grades are released late compared to other sections, he takes weeks to return emails, terrible instructor.

You get the impression that Morrell stopped caring about teaching class and more about his own story, like he lives in the past and never got out. endless repeat of his own myth. also trashes other faculty in class, very weird. class wise there's no feedback, never responds to emails in time and grades are just made up. This guy is rock bottom.

Really should have taken this with someone else, total awful experience no other way to put it. Cameron's very quirky, no tolerance for anything he doesn't like. There's no material to teach, everything's about managing Cameron's ego it's just very exhausting. It's like working on a super high maintenance client except you don't get paid here.

I am pretty sure he fakes his own ratings. There is no way that on August 10, 2019, two people gave him a perfect rating. Anyone that has taken his class before knows that his classes are used as a platform for him to share his opinions and views. There is no right or wrong with this guy, in this class, he is always right all the time.

Do yourself a favor and don't take his courses. He is arrogant and always thinks he is right. There are no clear guidelines for any of the assignments. He posts guidelines very late and never replies to emails. The grading of the presentations was very random. Also, the grades were released very very late.

This is one of the worst professors I have at at UBC. He never actually listens to students, he doesn't seem to be well informed on any issue, and he is plain rude. I don't understand what educational background he has that is valuable to share. Severely disappointed, avoid this professor.

WORST PROF EVER! Avoid taking this class with him if possible because he is the worst!!! His class is SO boring yet he is supposed to be teaching us how to give an interesting presentation... pretty ironic.... AVOID his class !!!!

Not a good lecturer despite the class subject. Will lecture about having rich and relevant content in your presentations when his 3h lecture can be summarized in a paragraph. Will talk about how to produce excellent slides, while having mid-2000's outdated slidedecks. Will dock you marks for going overtime, when every class goes 20 minutes over.

Honestly, please avoid. I had problems with many aspects of the class including the assignments and having to submit multiple documents to multiple places for the same assignment, but my biggest peeve was how disorganized his canvas was. Assignment instructions were unclear, and half was to be submitted on Canvas, the other half on TurnItIn. Avoid

One of the most boring classes you will ever take, especially if its online. The content is useless, you dont take away anything from it. The class is all about not being scared to speak in public, yet no one raises their hands when he asks a question. None of the content from the lectures are needed for the assignments which are graded very hard.

By far the worst professor I have had at my time at UBC. Painfully boring lectures regarding useless topics. His voice will put you to sleep and the grades you receive will not reflect the work you have done. Seems as if he blindly assigns grades. Avoid at all costs

RUDE to students with YELLOW skin unclear instructions, don't know what should do lots of useless homework and he gave no comments give BORING lectures but ask students to give spontaneous presentations talk nothing related to presentations skills and use plenty of breakout rooms condescending to students never encourage students

Professor Morrell was clearly more interested in instilling his antiquated life philosophies than building strong Comm skills. One lecture was devoted to the "importance" of adhering to strict dress codes. It was an easy A, however, assuming you said something each class, held your tongue at his objectionable comments and stroked his gigantic ego.

This class should be called Tedtalk101, because that is all you will do. If you want to be generous and ignore his questionable comments about people with accents and his massive ego, you're still left with a hollow shell of what one could call a "class". A full term dedicated to every mumbo jumbo "do these 5 things to present better" list. AVOID.

Similar to other peoples' experience with Prof. Morrell. This guy is absolutely awful. COMM 395 is my least favorite course I have taken at UBC, and Morrell was a big contributor to that. Big ego, boring lectures, mandatory attendance: don't take 395 with him

Honestly the worst prof i had at ubc. Same as everyone else said he has a massive ego and thinks the entire world revolves around his class. He has really strange rules like no laptops which in this day and age is ridiculous. I am not sure why ubc still allows him to be a prof..

Don't know why he is still teaching... His voice is very monotonous as a business communications prof and made student watch Ted talks all day. Look him up online and you will find out more about him...

Boring, slides heavy and not much real teaching there. He could be replaced by anyone 40+ years old with some work experience at a management level. Teaching team (Him + TA) is not helpful, release grades late and not responsible. Some feedback received are AI generated.

HE NEEDS A PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT PLAN!!! Massive Ego, thinks the world revolves around him and his class. The class content provides no extra value and handouts are extremely wordy and slides with pictures only... Messy assignments and biased TA. Avoid at all cost

Probably the worst professor you can get, he is self-centred, and have no empathy for students. Avoid at all cost.

His class is the kind of class that makes you wonder where your tuition money is really going. Practical applications? As rare as a decent campus parking spot. Worse, non-native, female, and Asian students often feel unfairly targeted. He's been reported multiple times, yet nothing changes. AVOID AT ALL COST!

I think the five star rating on Cameron was probably written by himself. Professors like Cameron needs to leave and he is highly subjective in terms of grading. He has been reported multiple times for targeting minority students.

Didn't understand why the class exists - the deliverables and projects we had to do weren't related to excelling in a professional setting. I found it amusing that, although he mentions multiple times that other teachers are not engaging because they don't apply the communication tools taught in his course, he fails to keep the class's attention...

Bland lectures. Mainly topics that most people would already understand. Marks very hard on presentations.

be aware: it's very hard to get actual helpful information from the communication with him; very hard grader, the grades he gives some students are clearly low marks intended solely to maintain the average; feedback is utterly useless and outdated (nitpicky), when you seek further clarification, he and ta simply pass the buck to each other.

Professor Morrell is very knowledgeable about the course material, and his lectures did actually provide good instruction. However the grading practices for the major assignments were very inconsistent, and many students in my section felt that the TAs were being unnecessarily harsh due to poor guidance from Professor Morrell. Disappointing overall

do not take this class. horrible grading, unclear instructions and overall a waste of time. you think you do well yet the grades you get back do not add up at all. its clear that the TA and the prof do not care to grade fairly and they do it for the average.

The lectures are not useful, and they're not really connected to the assignments. Don't expect anything from the score. He will teach you that the score is never related to your effort. He doesn't actually care about what you wrote; he only cares that the average should be 72.

This was probably the most upsetting class I've ever taken at UBC... If there are multiple options for COMM 220 profs when you register, please do not choose this guy. Assignment rubrics were extremely vague/unclear, most lectures were not applicable to coursework, and grading from the TA was very one-dimensional and strict.
