Took Doc C this summer online, this is not a class that you should take if you are not willing to read and think. She is very strict about deadlines and due dates, you can get penalized 50% for late work, 1 min or 1 week. Although you know what your assignments are from the beginning of class, but requires thought.

Doc C as she likes to be called is a great teacher. I am taking her Government 2301 online course and we are using the blackboard version of Web Ct, which made the course a little harder at first. There is a lot of reading and all of her material is online. She gives excellent resources and she is very prompt on answering questions you have.

I took this class online. It took me a while to figure out the class setup, but once I understood it, I loved it! Very easy! She uses online textbooks so you don't have to buy one! Gives *3* tries for each test! Writing assignments are short. Quick to respond to email. I learned a lot. I definitely recommend this teacher and her online classes.

I took the distance ed version of this course and I loved it. Doc C is very structured and extremely fair. She treats everyone equally and is very enthusiastic about teaching. If you are not self-motivated and do not have good study skills you should look elsewhere; otherwise, I think you will find that she is an excellent professor.

I learned a lot in this class. Online class is easy, but you must read the powerpoints at minimum. I tried to get by the first quiz w/out them & I failed it. 90's on the other 2. Very easy online class. Just follow the syllabus. She is very clear with her requirements. Definitely do the extra credit, it might make a difference at the end of the class between an A and a B. I received an A in the class. You do not need the book at all. Just turn everything in on time. I would definitely take Dr. Shay again.

Doc C (as she likes being called) is the most straight-forward teacher. At the begining of the semester all the requirements are laid out and you work. Do all the assignements, read and follow the directions and turn in ON TIME and you will not have a problem. NO BOOK.

I took the Govt 2301 during mini term dec. Trust me you won't get a govt class any easier. You must keep up with your deadlines though. She allows you take exams 3 times-diff questions sometimes. Just finished her online RWUR course. The BEST online course I've taken so far, and I already have 30 hours under my belt. Gives 3 tries for exams, short discussion assignments, 14 points of extra cred! I got a 447/452 -> 98/A+!!!

Doc C is amazing. I can not say anything more than what has already been said. She is so structored in her process and really wants everyone to succeed. If you follow her directions to a "T" you can not go wrong. Took her for 2301 and 2302 and really enjoyed them both.

Doc. C is the best! I took the 5 week online course for 2301 and received an A and also took the 8 week online 2302! Assignments are self explanitory and you MUST I repeat MUST follow the instructions. She also allows you to take tests up to 3 times recording your highest score. There are a lot of writing assignments, but REALLY REALLY easy!

After all the great reviews I was glad to sign up for her class. Shes not as easy as they claim though. Even though she has 3 test attempts, they are 35 questions and you get 35 minutes. I got a "C", I normaly get A and B's.

I took this course for summer and all I have to say is Dr. Shay is the best! There are a total of 4 exams and the final exam. For every exam you take, she lets you take it up to 3 times. The only downside is that the test are timed (-there are 30 questions in 30 mins). As for the final exam she gives you an 1 hour and 40 mins, you can take it 3x's.

If you are taking this class based on her scores and comments on this site then you are in for a big surprise. There was no test at all, you have to write. You get the grade that you work for. She answers emails quickly and is pretty straight forward ,this is the hardest class I've had since attending HCC. A real nail bitter.

Professor Shay's Government 2304 course is writing intensive; in other writing intensive courses I have completed the prompts were sometimes vague and uninteresting, where as in Government 2304, every week Professor Shay assigns really interesting prompts that ask tough political questions relevant to comparative politics around the world.

8 week Course. There was much reading to do, but the content is very rewarding. Major grades consist of short essays 250-350 word minimum. Demanding of academic writing. Fair grading. Extra points for participation. Gave good feedback. Much of the writing done is personal opinion but must demonstrate general knowledge/understanding of content.

Great teacher! She is very nice and grades very fair. We used a new online canvas. It was fairly easy to go through and read. I was a bit worried at first, but passed with an A. She is a writing base class. Take her and you will not be disappointed!

I took Professor Shay for the summer Minimester on 2016 .The workload is intensive and there were a lot of writing assignments. If you want a good grade, you really have to work for it. Professor Shay is not an easy grader so really reading and understanding the material is important. Govt is my worst subject but ended up with an A. Great class!

I registered late for the online course and was late for an assignment. She understood my situation and extended the deadline. This course is writing-intensive. Free online textbook. To do well on the assignment, reading the textbook is a must. Timely grading. She gives feedback on improving. Respond to emails promptly. She cares about her student.

I was a little skeptical before taking the class but I am so glad I did. Since day one all assignments and instructions were very clear. No test, no quizzes, 3 written assignments every week with a minimum of 200 words each. You have to read the chapters assigned for each module to complete work, the book is provided online by her, do not buy it.

I took Professor Cammy Shay for the five week summer course. 3 assignments were due each week. On Fridays you turn in an essay about the three chapters you read and what you liked about it. On Sat you read a short article and on Sunday you watch a Ted talk and write a review about both. TB are provided for free. Grammerly really helped me get an A!

Pr. Shay really helped me overcome my fear of writing. We wrote about 1 page essays about chapters we read. In the beginning I was scared of writing so much, but I quikly got used to it. Prof. Cammy Shay is a very intellectual Government professor, she explores your opinions on our government which I loved. The assignments were mostly due on Saturday, if you want a perfect grade on all of them make sure they are well written and comprehensive, which is not hard. Overall a great teacher and I recommend her 100%!

She is the best professor I've ever had. We have to do a lot of critical thinking but it is really fun. No exam or quiz. I learned a lot from this class. TAKE HER CLASS!!

One of the best teachers I've ever had. Makes government very interesting, makes you think about current problems. Homework is short and easy, doesn't require you to buy a textbook, uses free e-book instead. I learned a lot in her class in a very fun and interesting way. If I needed to take another government class, I would take her again.

I took both 2305 and 2306 with prof. Shay; both in 8 weeks sessions. Her requirements are clear from day one. She will except late assignment but you are will lose 50% of the grade for late submit. Ms . Shay is a wonderful teacher. She is very clear and direct in what she wants and expects from the students. I took GOVT 2306 online for the summer.... very easy and responds quickly. She accepts late work ,but takes 50% of the grade( it is better than nothing) .Her in person class for GOVT is very interesting. I definitely recommend her.

Ms. Shay is a very spirited & bubbly person. No textbook required! No tests or final exams for this course (BUT she changes her courses every semester!) & your grade is based on modules that are very interesting. She takes attendance & participation seriously. GOVT might sound boring, but Ms. Shay incorporates modern politics. Great class & teacher

Professor Shay is great professor, I expected the class to be boring but she made it extremely interesting. The modules are fair, as long as you show up and do your work you should get an A! She gives you enough time to finish your assigned work. Super sweet lady, she had great lectures and discussions as well. Id take again I HIGHLY recommend!!!

I took Dr. Shay, for GOVT 2305 online (8wk). No need to purchase the book, she provides it free. THIS IS A WRITING CLASS, so get ready to write. 1 paper (250 words) 2 discussions, and a quiz per week, NO TEST. Do the work and you will pass. I am taking her again for GOVT 2306.

I just finished her 5 week online class. Excellent class I learned a lot about Politics. She is very well organized. She is absolutely the best Educator I've ever had. And I'm an old schooler, you must take her class. Lots of reading and writing but well worth it. HCC is blessed to have her.

I can honestly say that I enjoyed this class because Professor Shay is an amazing teacher, although I took it online. She was very understanding, enlightening, helpful, thoughtful, listens, and knows her stuff! Everyone should understand how government works and this Professor will help you get a clear view w/o opinion but knowledge.

Very good and easy professor. She gives extra credit. No test or quiz just discussion with 250+ words. 3 easy discussion per week, which is not really hard. EASY A++

Dr. Shay is the best!!! She will allow you to learn in a fun way. You do not need the textbook, read her notes and articles and you will earn an A+ for sure. Participation is important and not hard to meet. I was able to succeed in her on line fast paced class, with a full time job and family. Take this class, you will not regret it.

I took Prof. Shay for both GOVT 2305 & 2306 (F8W) online. This is a writing intensive course, which means all papers no test. Do the work and you will pass. NO BOOK NEEDED!!

English is not my first language, for me was a challenge, but with effort I was able to pass. The essays were not long at all. But must be able to turn in assignments on time, will be penalized 50% if late, do not copy from others, or copy or paste, you will get "0".

I was more prepared part II, but still needed to stay caught up with essay assignments, do not missed class you will get points for perfect attendance and for extra credit. She is fair and helpful, but do your part and do them on time. You will be penalized for late assignments 50%.

Dr. Shay is a great professor. Her class revolves around reading the textbook and applying what you learned to a prompt about current news. She is also very strict with correct English grammar, so make sure to re-read your post before sending it off. Also for her online class, she provides 13 points of extra credit. Be sure to turn in work on time!

Doc C is an amazing professor! I took this class online during the summer. She was very organized, very timely, and was very passionate about helping her students interact and learn more about Texas Government. This class is reading/writing intensive but if you follow directions and put in some effort, it will be an easy A! Text provided, NO FINAL!

I like this professor. I took her 5-weeks class in the summer. However, she's kinda strict about the grading. No textbook require but she assign you read a lot of online stuffs with the links she provided. If you want an easy A, no! You have to be very good at writing. I don't like the grade I receive even though I tried really hard.

Professor Cammy Shay is the best professor ever. Although, you may have to do a lot of reading and a few essays. She's very compassionate and understand and is willing to help you. I really learned a lot from her. Looking forward to taking her again for GOVT 2305.

Professor Shay is an amazing Professor for the Political Science course. I worked hard in this class and learned to think outside the "grey areas" of thinking onto a broader horizon. Although my major is for Associates in Art; my major for my bachelors is Political Science. I am studying under the program of Government and Public Services.

Amazing class. Syllabus and deadlines were posted sine day 1 so easy to move forward with the assignments. No multiple choice tests, all essays related with current news articles. You will need to use the book (which is provided for free) to fundament your analysis. Not allow to quote, all written in your own words.

Great Professor. Answered all my messages back accordingly, gives a thorough feedback, lectures are clear. She is very passionate, caring and wonder person and that is how an instructor is supposed to be especially when you take the class online !! Professor Shay is the person to take for Government. Provides clear instructions on how to do the essays. No test is given only easy fair writing assignments are given. I'm not good at writing and I still manage to make decent grades in all my writing assignments. Also, take full advantage of the bonus points!!

Prof. Cammy Shay was one of the nicest prof in HCC. She actually inspired her students to learn more abt Government. There will be no quizz nor test, just essays, discussion each week and reading assignment! There will be a lots of extra credits to boost your grade at the end if you willing to study! Prof. Shay is AMAZING! She really opens your eyes about things & is great with in class discussions. No tests but there are short essays/reading assignments. Does give extra credit & provides great feedback about teaching & assignments. I have taken her for govt 2305 and 2306 and I will be taking her for intro into political science!

I came to this class knowing nothing about govt but i learnt a lot from her. I took both Govt 1 & 2. She's awesome.

Dr. Shay is completely awesome. We didn't have a text book but the topics we discussed were current and very interesting. Taking her class made me want to get more involved in politics. Not your typical read the book answer the questions kind of class. You won't regret it. After taking this class I want to get more involved in politics.

Second start online class, she assigns a book she has you read and answer about 5 questions at the end of each chapter which are posted as a discussion. 8 discussions and 8 video reviews of youtube videos she assigns. No tests/quizzes. She really cares and you learn a lot. She gave students several chances to make up for missed assignments.

Professor Shay is best professors at HCC. She truly cares about her students and is passionate about her job. Take her you will pass . She is the best teacher.

Almost had a heart attack with all the assignments and requirements but had an easy A. You have to work and complete your assignments. Based on my experience with online classes, It is always hard to understand what the instructor wants from you because words could be misinterpreted. This was an easy A. Already taking Govt 2306.

Professor Shay is one of my best prof. I have ever taken. You have to work on assignments to get full score but its not that hard. The Prof. was very quick to respond students. She helped us whenever we got stuck somewhere. She is a lenient prof. I really loved this class. If I will get a chance to take her again I definitely do.

i took introduction in Political Science with her online , it was awesome ! she is super organized and he assignments are easy to understand. she inspired me so much during this course. just do all your assignments on time . also she is not a test heavy or hard marker. a really good professor ! ( if i could just take her for all my classes lol)

Honestly, i think everyone should take Doc. C she is ah-mazing!! Made this class very understandable and relevant to today's issues. The only way not to pass her class is to not do the work. All she asks is for you to do the work and show her you understand it. You have to do yourself a favor and take this class that transfers to a university

Professor Cammy Shay is a wonderful professor. I took her for spring Govt 2305 online, I commend myself for taking her class, I got my A. She explained everything to you clearly, she communicates to you. Every serious student would find her class interesting.

she is so awesome. gets you involved even if you are not political. love her style of teaching. you do have to show up and participate. before 1st govt class was over, i already knew i would enroll in the 2nd govt course. love her!!

She is hands down one of the best teachers I've ever had at HCC. For her 8 wk course, we were given 3 discussions, 3 quizzes, and 3 assignments. She gives extra credit in the beginning, as well as extra points for responding to classmates after writing your discussion. She gives clear instructions for the short essays. Easy A if you do your work.

Do all assignments and don't turn any assignments in late. She is very strict with grammar. But Grammerly and proof reading helped me out with that. She is also very organized. She does a good job of helping you relate to the politics and tells you how you can get involved. I would definitely take her again if needed.

Dr. Cammy Shay is best professor one would ever find for GOVT classes. I am an international student. She always pays great attention to her students. The only thing she wants is You to study. If you are not gonna study, you will find lots of reasons to justify your bad grade. She ALWAYS explains why she took off your points. Just need to study

I'm taking Professor Shay's class online for the first 5 weeks of summer and she's WONDERFUL!!! I have learned so much in her class and I always look forward to reading her feedback to my essays and assignments. I'm hoping to take her for Texas Government too. Dr. Shay will push you out of your comfort zone to learn more about yourself your politics. There's no need to buy a book since she uses a free textbook! If you dislike writing, brace yourself because all her assignments require writing, but she grades fairly, and you learn a lot through critical thinking. No exams. Definitely recommend!

Professor Shay is absolutely amazing!!!! I'd definitely take her again! Her feedbacks are easy to understand and she explains why she deducted points and the due dates to each assignment are spread out pretty good. I HIGHLY recommend taking her class! You won't be disappointed!

She was very engaged in our online course and she definitely seems to know her stuff about political science. The textbook that we had to read and use for our tests was a free draft that we could download, and the writing was done in a way that was actually fun to read. Assignments are easy and don't take too much time.

I enjoyed this class and Professor Shay. She gives great feedback on papers, but you need to do the work in order to pass obviously. Professor Shay gives an outline of what she expects and also provided extra credit. This class was taken online (8weeks) and we tested a new way of class. Overall, take this class if it's with Professor Shay!

Her classes are amazing. She is experimenting with a new way of teaching where discussions (on Canvas) are the basis for the grade you will receive. She does not grade assignments in the traditional way, rather she says whether your submission to the discussion is complete or incomplete. Just do the discussions well. Also she's very liberal.

Professor Shay's class is engaging and thought-provoking. The discussions on Canvas are the focus, and with the help of unstuck ai, I was able to excel. No need for a textbook - just participate actively in class.
