Horrible teacher. She has personal issues that I think she needs to handle before going back into a class room. Very insulting to students, especially ones of "color". Not helpful at all. If you want to pass, DO NOT TAKE HER!!!

Horrible teacher. Insults students. Makes stereotypical jokes about particular races. Talks about her kids too much. Is never organized or prepared. Missed the last class before the final and didn't properly prepare us. I got a B in the class, and it's only because I'd taken 5 previous years of Spanish & knew enough to get me by.

If you want to learn Spanish- this is the wrong teacher! She is constantly talking about her kids, she even took 20 minutes to show pictures of them one day. Goes on tangents most of the class. Doesn't prepare students for tests and a hard grader.

she doesnt teach the class. she talks about her family life most of the time. when we do have to take notes they are all over the place and dont help anyway. i have 3 pages of notes 2 months into school. dont take spanish with her.

Probably the worse teacher I have had, ever! She doesn't teach well. Doesn't give a guide what to study on tests and quizzes. Very few notes. Teaches off the online website, but doesn't explain.

Horrible teacher. I finally got a semi-good grade in that class and the class average was a 42%....that really reflects her teaching skills (NONE). She talks about her lovely children and the country of Honduras the entire time. If the tests were on that maybe I'd get an A. Don't waste your time with this class. I have to take it over again :(

this teacher is the worst..she doesnt teach anything..she sits her fat behide at the desk and just click to centro. She assigns ALL CENTRO assignments and make u do oral activities that are VERY time consuming. She never gives any feedback are how u did on the assignments or why the answers were right or wrong.if u have her DROP HER NOW save urself

She is the worst teacher I have ever had. Discriminates against anyone who is not the class brown noser, particularily guys, always complaining about the spanish department, teaches random stuff we don't need, but skips things that end up on the test. DO NOT TAKE HER! THAT IS A STERN WARNING!

Worst teacher I have ever had. Does not teach you any Spanish. Makes you read over the Chapters at home and expect you to fully understand it by next class. Cancelled class often. Looks like she rolled right out of bed and came to class. Not very professional.

We did activities that I completed during my first year of high school. Instead of learning anything new, I'm losing my Spanish speaking skills. Now I'm seriously considering dropping my minor in Spanish

I'm a native speaker. I took this class not realizing I didn't need it. Anyways, being native, I found an incredible amount of errors said/taught by Medina. I politely tried to correct her once, she tried to tell me I was wrong in front of everyone. I looked for proof & brought it to her attention, still tried to say I was wrong. Horrible prof.

So, I showed up for this class the first day of classes (FA2014). She was completely unprofessional and incredibly rude. She will make fun of your name (even your parents for naming you that name), your major, and your accent. DO NOT TAKE HER. EVER.

Curses, bullies, disrespects, and threatens, students. Admin at NIU, and other universities are aware of how bad of a teacher she is. Yet when I questioned NIU Admin about the repercussion for her actions, they said they had talked to her as if that balances out all of the horrible things she has done and refunds the moneytime students have lost.

Check out other Spanish professors at NIU because if there is an opening in their class-take it. This one sucks.

Terrible experience. Her class made me feel like I wanted to have a panic attack. A bad teacher expects their students to put aside everything else in their lives for one class that really doesn't matter. (This is her class.) In all my years, this was one of the worst atmosphere for a classroom. DROP THE COURSE! It's worth changing you're schedule

Teacher was very rude towards students. Every sentence was riddled with some condescending story about goes off on long tangents where she tells completely irrelevant or loosely relevant stories about her family. Maybe in a full semester course this wouldn't be all that bad, but this course is a 1 month cram course for Spanish 201.

Prof. Medina is strict with attendance. If your late one minute to class on the first day of school she will still write you up. Has little sympathy for slow learners regarding work material. Oral assignments are ridiculous (i.e. must go off-campus and spend money speaking in Spanish) I would not recommend her better choosing another professor.

She's very condescending and can be very mean and rude. She will not answer your questions, she will tell you to look at the syllabus for the answers. The work is fairly easy but you have to actually try to understand the work.

Genuinely one of the worst teachers I've ever had. I have never had a teacher be so disrespectful. I got an A in her class, but it was the hardest thing I've ever done. I had to talk to my therapist about her several times, I don't know how she has a job. Barely teaches, mostly condescends, and expects you to have no personal life outside of class.

This is the strictest teacher I've ever had in my history of teachers. She has no empathy. She takes off points for the littlest thing. Has constant sarcasm and is passive-aggressive asf. Constant workload and gives no heads-up for them as the week goes. I've gone to the chair and her supervisor about her behavior but they refuse to do anything.

This professor needs to work on connecting with students more and providing a warm and open space. The pace and difficulty of this 101 course was overwhelming.

The homework and quizzes are not difficult so you can get a decent grade if you do the work, but Prof Medina is condescending and difficult to deal with. If you have the option, I would take literally any other professor over her. She comes across as very pompous and if you ask her for help she makes you feel stupid. Would not recommend.

Quite frankly its sad this teacher still has a position at NIU. Completely disrespectful, unapproachable, rude, and threatens students. After many complaints by students to the board, its questionable how this professor still is teaching here. Save your time, mental health, and money and take someone else for Spanish. Medina was the worst Spanish teacher I have ever had, you learn nothing in her class. An online course, but she taught nothing. You basically do the homework without knowing anything and guess the whole way through. Threatens students that they're cheating and is overall condescending and rude. I would avoid taking a class with her if you can.

It's sad. Ms. Medina has the potential to be a great Spanish teacher. Sadly, her personality and attitude are unbearable. I've never met a person so cruel. I wonder why she took this job if she doesn't care about her students' futures. Please pick another Spanish teacher. You will not learn anything from this class.

I sat through one lecture of this class and I have never been more appalled at how a college professor conducts themselves. She belittled multiple students and spoke to almost everyone with a condescending tone. It feels like she sets the class up to be purposefully confusing. I dropped the class less than 10 minutes after leaving the lecture.

Medina is the worst Spanish Professor I have ever had. Much of the course work seemed to be busy work that never truly reviewed any course concepts or taught anything valuable. Much of the class was structured to penalize students for not keeping up with the usual 10 weekly assignments, two quizzes, and ocasional unit exam. Avoid this Professor.

Ignored the reviews because I thought they were false but they are all true! Dropped the class after the first week. Can't even use a spanish dictionary to help nor notes or anything. Did not like when you asked questions as well.

She barely teaches & Mindtap is basically our professor. You're better off using youtube & tutors as your professor. Super mean and not approachable at all. I was excited for this course but she basically ruined my passion for this language. She thinks she's "tough love" & doesn't reflect on why so many students fail to learn what she's teaching.

She doesn't actually teach for her online class. They pretty much use the online textbook and then sends you on your way. Everything in the class seems like it is set up to sabotage you. If there was some sort of understanding on the Blackboard or tech problems, she will pull out metadata on you and tell you off. DO NOT TAKE.

The worst professor I have ever taken in my life. She doesn't care about her students at all. Emailed her multiple times throughout the sem about my grade and she never responded. Emailed the foreign language board and they did nothing. If a foreign language wasn't required for my major I would've dropped the first day. Very disrespectful and rude.

Horrible is the definition of this teacher. She does not care about her students. No help at all when sending her a message on teams. Have to retake her class because even though I have a Spanish background she would correct on things that did not need to be corrected. Spoke to other profs about certain things she marked wrong when it was correct.

The worst teacher I have ever had, so much work, over 10+ assignments. The end of the 1st week, I was still working, my fingers were bruised because of the work. My body was shaking/breaking down so bad that I had to stop and find a different class because it would damage my mental health if not. Keep your peace, don't take this class.

This professor conducts herself in the most improfessional manner, often belittling, condescending and outright pulling metadata out on students to justify her attitude. She is NOT helpful in any capacity, is unclear and cruel with her grading style. If this class were not mandatory for my major, I would have dropped. She ruined my mental health.

This is the worst teacher I've ever encountered. She was not only unprofessional but incredibly passive aggressive. In this class, you will basically have to self-teach since she relies on Mindtap and Conjuguemos to teach for her. She is unavailable when you email and the emails she does answer, are vague and unhelpful.

The worst professor I had at NIU. She honestly ruined the rest of my niu experience. She accused all of us of cheating so made our homework on a lockdown browser. Isn't the point of homework to look at notes to help learn the topic? She is incredibly rude and doesn't care about her students. DO NOT TAKE HER you will suffer.

Worst prof ive probably ever had. ALL THINGS PROCTORED. Proctored tests, quizzes, and exit tickets are fine as long as you're actually willing to teach- she does not. uses mindap for all learning and doesn't actually teach. often emails and posts announcements about how disappointed she is that the class as a whole is performing so poorly.

She is evil...first class she told us that no one had a worse life than her so there are no excuses. She will look up your stats & accuse you of cheating & force lockdown browser. She will find a way to fail you anyway she can. NIU does a disservice to their students by allowing a professor like this to teach on our campus. She needs to be fired.

One of the worst professors I've had. She's incredibly harsh and unhelpful, making the class very difficult. Thankfully, tools like Unstuck ai helped me get through it. Overall, I'd avoid this class if possible.
