Doesn't explain; Just hands out packets and expects us to learn
.... dont know how to say.... i dropped this class....
well I think she teaches pretty well. the test is a little hard but reasonable
she's not really good at teaching, but that's not her fault.....
Couldn't understand what she was teaching, so I had to drop the class.
She needs to be more clear!! I didnt get my moneys worth for the 1st time
don take her classes if you have other choices. She does not explain things clear. She just does not fit to teach math.
Teaching style needs improvement. Focuses too much on math definitions. It's possible to get an A, but you have to work hard. Going to math tutors really help.
she is a "B",that's it!!!!don't know how to teach!and don't want to know how students' feeling!!!
She reads off of slides all day
she is the worse teacher i have ever taken. i must say she does not know how to teach, i worked my ass out and still dont understand her. all i have to say is dont ever take her class, is not worth it.
Took her over the summer, was the only one to get an A (I really worked for it). She doesn't explain anything and depends too much on technology to teach her lessons. Expects you to know how to do everything and not willing to explain. Hard to understand.
Pay attention during lecture! She's thorough and extremely clear. Homework counts and helps a lot.

just a plain out rude not friendly
She is really bad. Don't ever take her. All she does is read from slides. Doesn't explain anything on the board. She actually doesn't explain anything. No one in that class understood the stuff. Horrible teacher. Don't take her for sure. I better recomend Kojima. He is the bomb.
worst teacher ever. She didn't teach a damn thing and expected everyone to understand her lesson plan. Also, whenever you ask her how to do a specific problem, she will move on to the next problem even if the whole class doesn't understand what she did in the previous math problem. Do not take her.
The Worst Teacher I've Ever Had!!! Does not explain or answer questions. When you do ask questions, she can't understand why you just don't get it!! No patient at all. Do Not Take Her!
She can't even pronounce the word 'statistics'right...so prepare to help her out. Also prepare to teach your own self off of the BS outlines she gives. Almost 75 percent of the class drops after midterms...that obviously tells us something about Candice Kim.
Mind Numbingly Stupid Girl...Its been 3 years since I took her class and Im still mad at the fact that I like math and I studied so hard and I come out with a C. I went to the final study session for another teacher and I found out that it wasnt me, it was Candice that couldnt teach....Shes kinda Hot though. Dont take her.
DONT TAKE! She assumes everyone is fresh from algebra, and doesnt review anything! She is so unclear. If you ask her to explain something she tries but if people still dont get it she moves on. I got a B, but it was ridiculous! I dont even know exactly what i learned haha ?
I can't understand what she says most of the time and the class is really boring even though I like math.

She's not all that bad. I've found her to be the most helpful during her office hours. Kind of difficult to her because of her low tone of voice, but other than that, she teaches fairly well.
If u do revision before coming to the class, everything should be fine. Many people dont understand her well because her pronouciation(A Korean, cant expect more). I think she is gteat because she possesses good knowledge of stats.
I wonder what the chances are that she'll wan't to go out on a date with me; she's hot.
I didn't think she was as bad as everyone made her out to be.The class was okay! She answered HW problems. You just had to ask them first. And as long as you do the HW, everything on the tests is fairly easy. Its fair.
She was so attractive it distracted me from learning. I kept day dreaming instead of studing in class. She is one hot Hankook.

She is not a very good math teacher. She does not teach in detail, and she moves on too fast from chap. to chap. Does not answer Q's gets irritated. Would not recommend!!!!!!!!
do not take her!!!!! it's hard even though if you study hard.
Candice knows her students, and she is really smart. If you think this class is hard...it's probably because you are not a math person.
Explains problems and is patient; enjoyed her teaching.
She has no patience when you do not understand problems. She only gives one example per lesson that she is teaching. I was not the only one in the class having problems, several of the students in the class I was in failed. First time I'm not on Dean or Pres list and it's because of this class.
While she is surely bright, she is not very audible, helpful or patient. Left with a "W" because I felt rushed. She teaches as if everyone knows what she is talking about and many felt uncomfortable to stop her for clarity. If you are good at math and can visit the marc regularly, you'll do fine.
She is helpful but this class is hard. Not much extra credit is offered. Studying is a must to pass. Have to work really hard.
do not take unless you REALLY already get math. Teaches you the material as if you have already learned it. doesnt explain stuff well at all and if you do get in her class, sit in the front. doesnt talk loud at all. lots of homework
good teacher. gave A LOT of examples from the chapters and it really helps by taking it down. make sure to do the chapter reviews and you should be fine for tests. before tests, she answers any questions and goes over them step-by-step. finals should be easy since she gives out a review telling you EXACTLY what type of problems you should expect
If you are not good at math i don't recommend her,she DOES not like to slow down and explain to you. She teaches as if you know math like her. Be prepared for her to put your business out there in front of everyone when you're late or absent or when you fail a test **online homework**. other than that shes not helpful.
Worst Teacher ever! Does not know how to explain.. I asked her why it was the answer and responded.."It's that because it just is." You have to teach yourself. Likes to embarrass students in front of everyone if you did bad on a test. Does not like to help students at all... I honestly dont know why this teacher went to a profession of teaching.
DO NOT TAKE HER! why is she still teaching!! she doesnt explain anything! its like she just wants to rush through to get class over with. she doesnt help when u ask questions. omg she shouldnt be teaching anymore!! worst teacher at mtsac!!!!!
Prof Kim is awesome! She gives a lot of examples and goes over problems. Exam questions are similar to examples. Haters should stop complaining and start paying attention. Hw isnt mandatory. Take notes, do some work, you'll learn the material and you'll get an A.
The worst math professor I have ever had. She writes down equations without working them first & relies on students' work to determine the outcome. Focuses on only the most difficult and unrelatable portions of each chapter to test. You'll skirt by if you go to the TMARC a lot or are naturally math-minded, but don't rely on her for your grade.
great professor. student who complains are the lazy one who doesn't care. she gave a TON of examples to try and help but students complained so she decreased it. Gives study guides that are REALLY helpful, so do it! there are only 3 exams and a final. honestly she isn't as bad as people say. i went into this class scared but she does try to help!
I took her class at 2010 Spring. Only 3 exams, but study guides are helpful. She will review some questions before taking exam that are exactly same as the exam questions.Dont need textbook! Need to buy the online code for doing onlie HW. Come to class and make nots. U will be fine. I got easy A
GREAT professor. There are a ton who complain against her fast teaching style so be prepared. I had no problem since math pretty easy with me. homework was all online, make sure to take down notes, great study guides for exams, answers questions if you got them, 3 exams and a final. real cool and gives lots of example to help you understand it
Teacher was poor at teaching...only way I learned was using MyMathLab other than that her test are easy and the HW is what you learn from... just sit your ass in class zone out...and learn from mathlab
She lectures waaaay too fast, therefore leaving you very little time to take notes. In my opinion, she doesn't welcome questions so well. Her tests are okay, but the homework is a lot and only collects random sections, she collects it on the day of exams. Overall she is only "okay" but not a professor i would take again.
Great teacher :)
Her class isn't hard, but the lectures were pretty dull. She hands out packets with all the notes you need and the homework is all done online, so the work isn't really difficult at all. She doesn't really explain stuff all that well sometimes, though, so asking for help is sometimes kind of difficult. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give her a 7.
Dull lectures, a bit of a language barrier, does not do a very good job at explaining concepts. The up side: Exam questions are from the book. For the final, you study your past tests and you should have no problem at all. Don't underestimate this class, you do have to work at it! She is generous at grading. Book is required, so is attendance.
She is nice, but not very useful to take her class.
I took her math 110 statistics class and decided to withdraw from the class because she lacked clarity and went unnecessarily fast and would sometimes forget to teach key concepts from chapters. i had a tutor who attended the class and she even questioned her methods. Nice lady but I do not recommend her.
Terrible math teacher. Does not help students (especially girls, as she is too busy giggling at the boys) or explain the problems she works. Forgets to work problems & often relies on calculations of students. Frustrating and unhelpful. Would never recommend her to anyone ever.
though she knows her stuff she has no idea how to be a teacher...i got an A in the class because i am amazing but she had nothing to do with that grade except make it hard to get...the only help i got was from the supplemental instructor
She is the worst teacher ever!!!! She doesn't help you understand concepts she just expects you to know and understand already. When you ask her a question she ignores you. It was so bad I had to listen to lectures from another professor who teaches the same class. if you have a question she will ignore you or get mad. Horrible Horrible Teacher!!!!
She does know her stuff but she can be hard to understand. Just really try your best and she'll see it when you do. Go to her office hrs for help and math lab. Let her know that you're really trying and she'll cut you some slack but you have to to all the Hw and attendance is a must. Just stay on top of your work and you'll be fine.
Worst math teacher everrrrr!! if your not good at math dont take her shes usless when it comes to giving help! she ignores questions and expects you to learn by reading her notes !!! stay away(unless you want a C or worse lol)
i was told not to take her, but i had to. Her exams are HARD. Especially that first one; STUDY STUDY STUDY! It's only the exams you need to SERIOUSLY worry about. Homework & quizes are easy. I did learn, but not really from her, more from the HW (mymathlab) is a better teacher which is how i passed her class. She just doesn't know how to explain
yes, has a language barrier but she knows her stuff.I think sometimes her mind thinks faster for her to explain so she can miss steps but no teacher is perfect. visit her office hours. One on one helps, the math center is a bonus. If she knows your struggling she'll give u a break just don't give up and stick to it. it's all in your studying habits
she was seriously one of the worst professors I have EVER taken! she does not help you in any way shape or form. she only like students that off the bat understand the lecture. if you do ask her a question she always seems annoyed and confused to why you are asking the question! UNLESS YOU WANT TO FAIL, DONT TAKE HER!
If you barely survived intermediate algebra and are about to move on to college algebra, DO NOT TAKE HER. She knows her stuff, but does not explain it in a level that most will understand. She grades tests fairly, though. She gives a lot of credit on the work, so much so that the final answers don't really matter. She's not easy, but she's fair.
Worse teacher ever!! makes mistakes and only fixes them when students point them out. extremely confusing! she knows her math but doesn't know how to explain well. Does not like when you ask questions. Do not take her class if you struggle with math!
Terrible! avoid at all cost unless you enjoy confusing lectures, a thick accent, online math homework (only), and a mandatory $92 dollar fee to use the book on some website. She does not explain lessons clearly and gets frustrated when questions are asked. DON'T TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!
She is an excellent teacher ,am taking statistics with her i really enjoy her class , if you want to study you will find this teacher very helpful Haitham
I think this class is quite easy.
This woman's classes are very difficult, and it did not help that she was uncaring to give further aid when more than half her students were failing. Do not take her!! I am a fairly good student and I always get at least B's and I have never failed or come close to failing, yet this class I worked my blood sweat and tears into and still didn't pass
She has an accent but you can understand her. I took her 8-week class last year and the pacing was fast but she goes through the problems step-by-step. She gives out lecture notes so you can go along as she goes over them on the board. She's easy to approach and very nice too. Her tests can be tough but you just need to study well.
Do NOT take the hybrid math class unless you learn well alone. She goes over the material very quickly and gives you only 5 mins at the end of class to take a one question quiz. The quiz question is also the most difficult problem she can find. Dropped the class second week.
Do not take her hybrid class. Unfortuantly I came here too late because the negative reviews are all accurate. Her accient is THICK. And because it is, she does not respond well to questions. Her teaching style is as follows: you teach yourself and lose points for not doing it my way. I'm an average student, not brilliant but not stupid.. Awful
She is unclear sometimes and could be very confusing. If you never took alg 2 or pre cal in high school don't take here. I was able to pass her class because of the knowledge I already had. She's alright, could be better.
DO NOT TAKE HER!the only reason I had to take her was because I really had no other choice. She was the only teacher available a day before fall semester started (Now I know why). She is useless as a teacher. She goes over the lecture extremely fast and all your notes are thick fill in the blank packets. If you want to pass you need a tutor & study
She is honestly not that bad! She is very compassionate if you speak with her. She is understanding if you think you didn't do so well on the tests. She makes you work for the grade but it is not impossible.
She is very genius, but not too patient when it comes to answer questions. I am a math person . Got a C the first exam and improved by the second and third. My secret ? I went to tutor sessions and did all the hw. She replaced my low score with the final exam. Also she curves grades... Good teacher, worked hard for my A !!!
Laughs at you, when you don't understand material that she as a math professor would find easy ! Literally in your face
Hybrid class was very tough, only met once a week and didn't go over material well
She's a very smart lady, knows her stuff, but I feel like she kind of flew over the material and didn't really explain it well. I was in the hybrid class and she assigned the homework prior to teaching it and that kind of made it hard to properly learn the material. She's extremely nice though.
She's a tough teacher if you don't already have some background in trigonometry. Her lectures are a mixed bag and you need to carefully go through the tons and tons of assigned homework in order to understand the concepts. Thankfully the hybrid classes online system took you step by step on HW problems. Nice person, but iffy teacher.
Don't take her if struggle with math. Her lectures are way too heavy, we would fill in the packets every single day and she never really answered what we asked, plus sometimes it was difficult to understand what she was saying. I'm good at math, and I basically passed the class because I learned and studied from the online practice problems.
If you're well versed in math, then I would recommend taking her. She moves very fast pace, but there are clear breaks of time to catch up. Study for an hour a night and you'll pass with an A.
Only take her if youre already good at math. She doesnt seem to understand others struggle with math and will make fun of you for not understanding something.
She doesnt explain the problem well and no patient. Really dont recommend taking her class. She doesnt care the students. Just literally not a good professor.
Hardest class I have ever taken. I took her hybrid class which got switched to all online due to covid. In person the class was incredibly hard and many people walked out within the first two weeks. She goes straight into lecture which is solving one problem and then expects you to know how to do the worksheet. Tests are about 70% of final grade.
IF YOU CANNOT TEACH YOURELF DO NOT TAKE. I need to write this to inform anyone who decides to take. She is by far the worst teacher I have had in my whole learning career. Her notes do not match assignments. She assigns problems for one day and two days later we learn how to do them. Does not explain answers in detail at all.
Lecture heavy, miss a class you get lost, the book is not mandatory, was a hybrid class (online assignment turn-in), expect a lot of work, and homework like test. Test heavy.
Professor Kim is approachable and supportive. She explains very clearly, and answers questions patiently. Gives lots of homework, but you need all the practice! Her videos are very helpful too. Pay attention in class and put in the work, you can do well in her class.
She is by far, the worst math professor I ever had. She does not EXPLAIN how she got her answers, she just solves it. She is so unorganized, makes us waste so much of our own ink and paper, and cannot teach if her life depended on it. Save your money. Trust me. I will never forget this class because she made me go through so much anxiety.
She is very unclear in her assignments and always messes up last minute. Very unorganized and does not stay on top of her work.
She is by far the worst math teacher. She does not explain how she got an answer. Shes unclear when talking and unorganized. She does not give much help to her students. You much teach yourself to be successful in this class. Unless you are great at math and are okay with teaching yourself do not take her. I had to get a tutor for a passing grade.
If you don't know much about precalc before this class, do not expect to learn anything. Every chapter she'd throw on huge piles of paper notes that we'd go over in person/online lectures which aren't explained at all, while the tests were only around 5 questions long. There were also a lot of random canvas assignments that took forever.
To pass the class, you must rely on other resources like Khan Academy and Organic Chemistry Tutor. She is very disorganized in her assignments and exams, does not explain any of the concepts well, overcomplicates simple math, and is very bad at technology. All homework is due on the final, LV questions are graded, and exam times are very short.
This winter I took Math 160. I think she is organized in assignments. Although homework is due on the final, she recommends we do them and review quizzes to prepare for the exam. Although LV questions are graded, you can repeat doing it and get a full grade. I spent half an hour to finish the Exam and get 100% because they are similar to assignment
I took this online over 6wks so the pacing is faster. She can seem unorganized because of technical issues with canvas/online format but overall she is a solid professor. She is clearly smart but does make sure to clarify any student questions. Some of the class notes dont match the hw/test tho so you will prob need to spend extra time studying.
Prof. Kim is a nice lady but a terrible teacher. She does not know how to explain her knowledge to students, often overcomplicating simple things. I ended up relying on Khan Academy to teach myself. Lecture notes also don't match up with homework problems. 4 midterms, 1 final. I got an A+ because of YouTube and other sources, not her. AVOID HER.
Nice person, not strict on grade, but you need to follow up with her for each lecture. Lots of homework. if you are a self-learner, I recommend this professor 100%. If you relied on a teacher over 60%, I do not recommend this professor because she skipped some easy steps but is important for most of us.
Took this class during winter 2022. 4 exams, 1 final, around 61 homework assignments but those aren't due until the final day, around 10 quizzes. She drops 2 quizzes, 5 homework assignments, and replaces the lowest exam score with the final. A lot of extra credit! Overall, good but you will have to teach yourself in some of the subjects.
I took her class for math 110, she is really confusing, she changes due dates and will upload an assignment without announcing it to the class, so there are many times I got confused and missed the assignments. The exam is long, and only gives you 1 hour 30 min to finish, but it is impossible because you have to calculate.
An exam of 20 questions, each with five sub questions, however, you need to complete them in an hour because there is another hand written exam!!! There is no way to finish it, you don't have time to calculate or read through the questions!!!
She has a lot of homework, exam topics are also very much, the published homework is also messy always change your due day, and never say what homework needs to be completed, you can only read it yourself on Aleks, she replies to emails also very slow, usually the questions are over before she replies to your emails!!!
This professor is very nice! She changed the grade of GA to perfect grades for all students. I think the difficulty for me is only 1.0 because I get 100% for all the Exams and assignments. My total grade is 102%. As long as you completed each assignment carefully and figure out knowledge, you will get an A! She will patiently answer your question!
Professor Candice is good, though her online + In person lectures are very fast. I've never been great at math, so this class was challenging. If you want to pass studying and reviewing is really important. The assignments are easier than test. The assignments, reviews, and quizzes are most of your grade, exams not so much.
Taking Professor Kim during Fall 2021, I'll say that I had diffcult time trying to understand the professor, and the lectures as well. This was a hybrid class I took, and I only had to meet up for one day. She is a nice person, however when comes to teaching lectures its a whole other level. And her homework questions are not on the exam.
Do not take Professor Kim! She is horrible at responding emails and getting back to students. Lectures are long and she does NOT stop to clarify for her students. She gave me an incomplete and a D for technical issues when I emailed her regarding of them! Not even tutoring helps against this professor. Ridiculous lack of professionalism. STAY AWAY!
She is good, replied to emails quickly, no need textbook and gave us enough time to finish our homework. The homework she gave us are very simple, but the exam questions are very difficult, and the exams account for 60% of the total grades. It's too hard for me to get an A from her.
DONT TAKE HER! SAVE YOURSELF! DONT PUT YOURSELF THROUGH THE SAME TORTURE THAT I WENT THROUGH
Simply put it was an awful experience. She is unprofessional, unresponsive, uncaring, and inconsistent. Avoiding this one will spare you unnecessary misery.
She is a nice professor, I feel that she wants everyone in the class to get good grades, she usually has four exams and a final, and will drop the lowest exam grade, if your math is not particularly bad, you can get a good grade in her hands. Even gave an 8 point final exam extra credit opportunity, and she tried to help everyone get good grades.
She is super unhelpful and does not help with homework or questions you have. All the homework is preset and she sends out links to homework/assignments/notes that do not work. She also doesnt respond to emails or is flexible in the slightest.
I cannot stress enough how horrible this class was. She is terrible at her job as a professor. From DAY ONE, she has lacked professionalism, and it was almost pitiful. It seemed like she didn't know what she was doing. Half of this class has dropped and decided to take a different stats class in the winter. Please, do not waste your time and money.
Took MATH160 over the Summer, so it was a 6 week course. There was a lot of homework, but maybe it felt that way because it was during a shortened Summer semester. I felt that I had to teach myself most of the concepts through other mediums (i.e. the textbook, Youtube, Khan Academy).
I took her Math110&Math11 class, the study guides she offered for exams covered almost everything we learned. However, the written exams were only a few questions which were easy for me. As for online tests, she would give similar problems on chapter review assignments so it kind of lowered the difficulties on the tests. She wants you to pass!
I took her class for the Fall Semester and it was difficult but not impossible. If you use the resources around you and the resources she gives you then you should be fine to pass the class. She gives many quizzes and around 4 exams but they are all questions given on practice exams. Try not to miss class and form study groups or make friends.
She's not that bad of a teacher but she does have the issue of over complicating things. She has a clear grading criteria and answers emails quickly. Lots of HW and exams are just like the HW. Gives out lots of useful handouts that you can refer to as you progress through your math classes. If you pay attention in class and do the HW you'll pass.
I need therapy after this class, confusing lectures, ran into office hours often, wasn't enough time to help, if she is the last option get a tutor, one person in my class had a grader higher than a C. There's 10-30 assignments per week. HEAVY homework & classwork, must show work for everything, grades as if we all want to be math majors! BEWARE
The "help" videos from those MyOpenMath assignments teach better than her in LESS time and in LESS confusion. She overcomplicates everything and doesn't explain clearly / step-by-step. I feel like she just reads off from the textbook and expects us to understand enough. She talks so much during her videos but not enough writing. Don't take her.
Prof. Kim is very unorganized and she does not teach well on Zoom. The homework was manageable and the tests/quizzes were the same format as the homework. I don't recommend taking her if it is your only option because a lot of people in my class struggled.
Professor herself is a nice person. However I would say the lecture is very bad. I have learned calculus during high school so I was able to get good grade. If u dont like math or never have studied the subject u are taking, do not take her class, u wont learn anything. U have to teach urself in her class. She is a easy grader tho.
She doesn't know what she is doing. Her lectures make you more confused. She has loads of home works and quizzes. She speaks very softly so sometime it is hard to hear her if you sit in the back. Don't take her if you have another choice.
Prof. Kim's lectures can be hit or miss, but the homework and tests are manageable. I found using unstuckstudy alongside the textbook and videos really helpful for preparing. Overall, the class is doable if you stay on top of the work.
If you value your sanity, SKIP. She is disorganized, irresponsible, and inflexible. Too many assignments with little time for the quizzes/exams. Hw assignments are overwhelmingly a lot. She deducts points for small steps missed, even ones she skips in her lectures. Feedback isn't clear. Exams look nothing like the hw or lectures, only quizzes do.
Took this professor in the Winter course (6 weeks). WOW. She gives so much work. U dont really learn anything from her videos. Online homework has "help" videos attached to them that will be your savior. I probably spend about 40 hours a week doing just her assignments. Exams are insanely hard and she only gives 1.5 hrs for 20 problems. Good luck
Candace Kim is a very bad professor in my opinion. I took this class because I needed it because I withdrew from a math class at the university I'm attend she has just made this class hell for me. She thinks that she knows how to teach, but on half of her assignments they never have feedback and all of the assignments are not even right.
Don't be scared by this teacher's grading. Objectively speaking, she is a very nice person. She divides the exam into chapters so you won't be caught off guard. But the downside is that there are a lot of homework. Overall, it is highly recommended for people who have some basic math skills.
Professor Kim has a lot of lecture videos that you need to watch. The online homwork help videos are a lot more helpful than the lectures. She gives a lot of homework, you have to be good at time-management. Be sure to keep up with work and pay attention. This class has a lot of homework and takes up a lot of time so keep that in mind.
