This is Dr. Torres' first semester teaching so she is very hard. She went over the material very fast (1 chapter per class)and she talks fast, so its hard to stay focused. The only good thing that she is helpful with is she gives you questions to ponder to review for the exams and also the essay questions. Good luck if you take her class.
Dr. Torres is quirky, fun, and overall the best biology professor I have ever encountered. She presents slides that she has made with simple and understandable notes that, when you pay attention, will be easily recognizable on the exam. She answers questions and interacts positively with her class and will help anyone that asks her!
Class was very difficult she went one chapter per class, the more difficult chapters you got a class and a half. During my time in her class when I had concerns about my grade she rarely responded to my email. When I did meet with her she said I needed to try to think like her. I should have read the review first. I would not have taken her class.
Unorganized! Literally talks the whole hour and a half straight. She rushes through chapters (one chapter per class) and is very confusing. I was so disappointed because I was really looking forward to A&P. Also, you will have two quizzes a week, due before lecture that you will take online before you even attend lecture for the material!
Dr. Torres is awesome! This class is not easy, to say the least, but if you read the chapters and study for the tests with the questions to ponder you will have no problem. Do not, do not, DO NOT fall behind. Don't be afraid to email or talk with her. She is very personable and willing to help you.
Prof Torres was a delight. She gives u reviews AND "questions to ponder" to study for exams. She posts lectures the same day as class! She uses the vocabulary from the text and that is hard for some ppl, but don't be lazy and study and you'll be fine. The quizzes before lecture help u to understand what she lectures on. I WISH she taught A&P 2.
LOVED HER! She is querky and always keeps the class interesting. There is 16 online quizzes, goes along with the book. 6 Lecture tests, gives you "Q2P" that if you do them you will ace the test. Also 3 essay questions on each test, but gives you 6 examples and out of the 6, 3 are on the Test. 3 lab tests, easy if you study for it. Wish She did A&P2
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! Rushes through class without student interaction. She would rather make herself look good by rushing to "Stay on Schedule" then to slow down and actually teach despite of what it costs her students in the end. Her 1st yr here. The program at this campus tests you before you've had a lecture on the chapter (up to 2 ch. per wk)
Dr. Candice Torres is very sweet, a great teacherThe summer class is very time consuming. A lot of work and even more studying required every week with no break. But this is why the class is 8 weeks instead of the normal 6 weeks, because there is so much information! Very tight schedule with 3 major exams that had to be squished into the last week.
To add, she was very fair on the lab homework. 10/10 for filling everything in & for effort, I'm sure I got things wrong. Its nice because she cannot grade like this for the learnsmart/exams. Very organized, she gives you all due dates the first day & her version of a review 'Q2P' for all exams & final. Xtra credit is also a study aid for you.
Very likable person but very dizzying lectures. Speaks very fast and reads and gets test ?s straight from the power points. You do not need a physical copy of the book.. just need to purchase the access code for HW site. HW is very time consuming but luckily a completion grade. When someone asked a ? and got her to slow down, she was very helpful
Great reviews and entertaining lectures. Easy A if you read the chapters and do the reviews. Wish I could take her for A&P 2.
Speaks at the speed of sound and really doesn't pause for questions. Drops the lowest quiz and test grade. Usually about 2 reading quizzes a week(only open for 24 hours) and a test every other week. If you are a busy person take this class by its self or not all. Very time consuming. MUST STUDY TO PASS.
I love her! Wish I could have had her for A&PII. she tells you exactly how to study and if you do what she says you'll be fine. You need the book. She gives "questions to ponder" to help you study for exams and bonus pointsquestions on exams that help your grade tremendously. You won't regret taking her class
Her A&P lab saved my lecture grade (I took lecture with someone else). She's very clear in her expectations, and tells you EXACTLY what you need to know for the lab tests. Wish I had taken her for lecture as well. Be sure you note every diagramfigure she points out - this will make tests much easier.
Attend lecture and lab. Study all of her power point slides for exams as well as class notes! Complete the Q2P. Do all of the extra credit provided. Exams are straight out of the power point and lectures. I made a 98.
I took the 8 week summer course with Dr. Torres, and it was by no means an easy course. The good thing is, she answers emails very quickly, and was always willing to answer questions whether in class or out, even on holiday weekends. With all of the stuff she gives you to prepare (PLO, Q2P, Learnsmarts, Exam Reviews), you will be ready to pass.
Dr. Candice Torres is an amazing teacher! She is willing to help if you struggle and gives extra credit. She makes lectures fun and everything she writes on the board is important! Most likely on test. She gives test reviews. Quizzes are online. Helps to print powerpoints and write extra notes on. Wish she taught A&P II, would take again!
I regret of taking this class, she goes so fast at high speed just for her to cover whole chapter per class. She does not care what your previous knowledge in Biology or chemistry while she expect you to read on your own and do the test online before the class. she will never prepare you for the test before taking. People dropped class too much.
Such an amazing professor! would definitely recommend! Has TONS of office hours if you need extra help, but trust me, you won't! She is so thorough in her lectures and prepares you WELL for exams! I wish i could take her for ever college class i have! She gives no homework, 6 test, lowest on is dropped, one final exam. amazing, amazing!!! take her!
Dr. Torres is by the best science professor I've ever had! (I've taken A&P once before & chemistry) As long as you DO THE WORK & go to her office hours for tutorials, you're set. Her exams are mostly based on lecture so attendance is a must! A&P isn't easy, but she was a tremendous help & I've learned a lot from her, I wish she taught A&P 2 :(
The reading helps with the lectures it is an A&P coarse so you have to work for the grade. The test are tough she makes you really "know " the material not just memorize it. Great professor.
Wonderful professor. She cares about her students and adjusts teaching style to ensure comprehension. She is also very knowledgeable and presents the material in a stimulating way, emphasizing and encouraging questions and uses crystal-clear power points. A ton of reading, studying, and weekly quizzes - but if you do all the work, you will do well!
Tests are very hard make sure to study your butt off. Dr. Torres makes her lectures enjoyable and makes sure to keep everyone engaged.
Dr. Torres is an amazing professor! I wish I could take her for every class I need. Literally the best professor I've ever had. She truly cares about her students and definitely tries to adjust her teaching so her students can understand. She offers plenty of extra credit, she responds to emails very quickly, & gives a ton of resources to study.
Dr. Torres was the hardest but BEST professor I have ever had. She was my first professor at TCC and I would take her over and over again. I really wish she taught A&P2. Go to class, take notes, do the questions to ponder, and study there is no way you wont pass. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT! Her class is very applied, make sure you understand the material.
Tough teacher but she really makes you learn the material. She's VERY knowledgeable and easy to approach. Responds to emails quickly. Study A LOT. DO the Q2Ps in ADVANCE and study them they WILL HELP YOU!
I took A&P 1 over the summer with professor Torres so that i could take some of my upper level courses in the fall at UTA. I was a little worried about taking this course over the summer but Ms. Torres made it a enjoyable experience, she has a great sense of humor. Her tests are hard but she does give up to 15 E/C points and a dropped test.
I really enjoyed taking Dr. Torres' class! She gives you all of the materials to make an A it's up to you to do so. She makes her own slides, so she's not just reading off of them. She gives reviews for quizzes and exams(that she makes). Just record her lectures and she answers all of the Q2Ps. She is easy going to talk to. Take her!
She has been such a fantastic professor! I am so sad she doesn't teach A&P 2. She makes this class easy to understand and believe me it's anything but easy. The only thing that sucks is that she doesn't teach the lab its another teacher and she is the complete opposite. DO HER QUESTIONS TO PONDER it's basically an outline to the exams.
Professor Torres knows her stuff, you can ask her a question from a lecture weeks ago and she could answer you right away without a pause. It just shows you how passionate she is about Biology. - answer her Q2Ps - test questions directly from her lectures - answer possible essay questions and email her for questions I hope she taught A&P2!
Dr. Torres is one of the best professors I have taken. Her lectures are great and she goes into great detail on important topics. For exams, do all of the Q2Ps, learnsmarts, and short essay questions for preparation. Do all the extra credit that you can earn. If you don't study the textbook and the material, you will not pass.
At first, you'll have a hard time to cope up but once you'll get used to her lectures and how her tests work, then you can handle it very well as long as you attend & listen to all of her lectures. Do ALL of her reviews because those will literally appear on the exams! Form study groups because it's easier to dictate to others what you understand!
Buckle-up and get ready for what is known as the, "Make or break" class for students pursuing any health profession!! Anatomy & Physiology are BOTH complex subjects, but Dr Torres does an outstanding job with explaining how everything ties together. 10 out of 10. Humans learn more through fascination than by force , Dr Torres fascinates all!
A very hard class but its made easier with Dr. Torres, she is amazing. Just finished the semester for AP I unfortunately she doesn't teach AP II or i would take her again.
So glad I took her, A&P is a hard class but she makes it very easy to follow. I took it in the summer and it was very fast paced but she offers reviews and multiple resources to help you pass, she is also very accessible. I wish she taught AP 2 I would definitely take her again!
Dr. Torres was one of if not the best professor I've had. She is truly passionate about the subject and goes out of her way to make sure the students understand the material. If you do all the Q2Ps and practice the short answer questions there's no reason why you shouldn't get an A in the exam. She holds reviews for exams which also really help.
Dr. Torres is an amazing professor. She really knows her stuff and wants everyone to pass. Do the Q2Ps and go to her review sessions. She will help you with anything you need. Forming study groups also helped. Truly a great (and funny) professor and lucky to have had her my first time taking A&P.
Took her in the summer 8 week course and it has the be one of the most challenging courses i have taken just bc ive never taken A&P before but i managed to get an b+. Dr. Torres is very intellegent and straight forward and will make you understand. Tests are challenging and tricky so you have to really know your stuff. Lab test is memorization.
Dr. Torres is an amazing professor! She truly cares about everyone and gives you all the resources you need to pass her class, its up to you whether or not you utilize them. 15 points of extra credit, drops lowest exam and lowest quiz grade. 1 group disorder presentation, and a cumulative final.
A very solid professor who tells you what to expect, and how to pass.
Love her!! Makes biology fun
Great professor. Her lectures are both entertaining, and informative. She is passionate about the subject, and that passion makes the lectures very enjoyable. She posts Powerpoint slides, and handouts online. If you attend lecture, and complete all of the material provided, you will be successful. I only wish I would have taken her for Bio I.
Dr Torres is a true teacher. She breaks down the material so anyone can understand it, has clear grading criteria, gives extra credit, and always answers emails (even the night before exams). She gives review sheets for every chapter, DO THEM! The tests come directly from them. Be prepared to work for your grade, it won't be handed to you.
By far the best professor at TCC! Extremely organized, dedicated, and knowledgeable. I had no biology or chemistry prior to this class and rocked out a 98! If you do your part, you can too.
An amazing professor. If I could rate higher I would. She gives you exactly what you need to pass, but won't hold your hand. When you walk in on exam day, you know exactly what you'll make by how much work you put in. Require work before and after class, but the most fun class I've taken in a long time. 10/10 would take again.
Dr. Torres is hands down amazing, if I can make an A in this class then ANYONE can. You just have to do your part and really put in the effort in her class. She really cares for her students and will go above & beyond for her students. Do the learnsmarts, study straight from lab manual, record lectures, listen in lecture, and most importantly: Q2Ps
Dr. Torres is a phenomenal professor! I took her 8-week hybrid A&P I course. This was probably the hardest thing I've ever done (plus taking micro at the same time)! But I would totally recommend her! She gives you exactly what you need to succeed in this class! Your grade will not be handed to you, those 200 question tests are no joke! Good luck!!
No science backgorund and made an A! Dr. gives you every possible resource (and office hours) you need to pass. If you don't pass this class, you simply didn't put the work in. A&P is a tough course, but she makes it enjoyable and accessible. I met with her after every exam to go over what I missed, and made a 98 on the final. She loves to help!
A&P 1 is a difficult class but Dr. Torres makes it approachable if you are willing to do the work. Dr. Torres is a true teacher and a fascinating lecturer, her lectures feel like TED talks and her PowerPoints are extremely organized and visually pleasing. Your grade will not be handed to you. Allow her to mentor you if needed.
She is my favorite!
She is the best! She is so pretty and really knows her stuff. Defiently recommend her.
Dr. Torres tells it like it is from day 1. If you are willing to work for it, she is willing to work with you. She is funny and keeps you engaged. She offers extra credit, gives you the possible exam ?s before the exam, & haves an exam review where you can ask ANY questions you have. BE PREPARED TO STUDY OUTSIDE CLASS. The SLC is your best friend.
I took Dr. Torres for Anatomy and Physiology 1, and she is the BEST professor I have ever had! She gives the best lectures, which focus on everything you need to know about what you're learning at that point. She is very caring and reaches out to her students to make sure they understand what they're learning. I recommend her to everyone I know!!!!
Her lectures are done very well and she greatly elaborates on everything that is on the slides. Her lectures are insightful and interesting. I find her humor pretty hilarious and she deeply cares about the success of all of the students. Do the reviews! If you do them, you will get very good grades on the exams. I highly recommend her!
I took Dr. Torres for Anatomy and Physiology 1, and let me start off by saying that if you want a good grade you WILL have to work for it. Dr. Torres gives a lot of resources that make studying worthwhile. She gives tons of extra credit which I recommend you do. She gives pre recorded lectures and a whole exam outline. She's awesome take her!
I was definitely intimidated by the material, and there is *a lot* of it for 8 weeks. Dr. Torres does a great job of breaking things down. Prepare to spend a lot of time reading/watching ALL lectures/doing assignments/labs. Would've gotten an A if the winter storm didn't cause us to lose a week of access to online lab models that are used on exam.
I had Professor Torres for lab, and she was amazing. She really helped me understand concepts better and her humor helps as well. In lab you get graded on only a few things and she's a hard grader so definitely stay on top of it. This class is hard especially lab 2, but she is always willing to help you but definitely try to have her.
The class wasn't easy but also wasn't hard. She's nice and lectures good. The class is quizzes, tests, and lab exams. The lecture side of the class is a little challenging. Make sure to get 100's on all the quizzes since they're easy and you get lots of attempts. For the exams they're a bit hard but she offers extra credit. Labs are very easy
GET READY TO SPEND YOUR WEEK IN THE SLC. STUDY STUDY STUDY. shes a great teacher and is super helpful and wants you to pass, just try your hardest.
Whatever you do, TAKE HER!!! She was so freaking amazing! A&P is already a tough class in general and she breaks down everything in a way for you to understand and be able to memorize it for exams. Make sure you watch all the pre-recorded lecture videos as many times as you can, ALL her exam questions come from there.
Dr. Torres is an amazing professor! I took her for A & P 1 8 week course and it was very difficult, well a & p is already a difficult subject. But she gives out many resources to help you out and she pops in jokes every now and then which made lecture something to look forward to. I wish all professors were like her. Great professor!
She is an awesome professor. Gives lots of info and guidance on how to study and do well on your exams. She has a fun and sweet personality. Always willing to keep an open line of communication. No matter how great the teacher, YOU MUST STUDY. The grade is earned by putting in the time to learn in class and outside.
Awesome professor! But pls stay away from this class if you have not already taken A&P before or any COLLEGE BIO/CHEM class. 8 weeks to learn A&P 1 is not a lot of time unless u are unemployed and do not take any other classes! This class requires at least 20-25 hours of studying! Once again amazing professor but hard without science background!!!
She is honestly such an amazing professor. Hands down, best professor i've ever had. you must be ready to teach yourself half of the material. aside from her being the best teacher ever, whatever effort you put in, is what you're gonna get.
Dr. Torres is very intimidating, she is loud. One of the hardest teachers to deal with. She is expecting us to basically do nothing but study for her class. Stay away if you want to have a life outside of her class... The class was fun though, but very heavy,, check other campuses though, southeast campus is way easier..
stay away.. look at other campuses. She dictates all trinity AP classes. They are all the same: awful!
One of the best professors I have ever taken
An amazing profesor, she has a very clear grading criteria and always asks for feedback so she can better her teaching even though she is already great! It was tough especially since I took the 8- week class, just do all your work and study what you can (get the lab part down first then focus on the lecture part) take her class you will be fine !!
This was the hardest class I have ever taken. However, Dr. Torres was amazing. I had no biology or chemistry background and got a 97 in that class! You really have to work hard to get a good grade, so you better study. She gives all the resources to strive in her class, take advantage of that.
The best teacher I've ever had, she gives you a lot of resources, organized, she gives a lot of extra credits, she's fantastic making her classes fun but they teach a lot. She tries hard so that you understand, it is an 8-week course, it is very difficult because it is a lot of content, regardless of all the help she provides, you must study.
The best teacher I've ever had, her classes are interesting, a lot of extra credit that helps you raise your grade a little. be careful because there are only 8 weeks and you have to study too much.
Taking an 8 week a&p course is pretty difficult itself but Dr. Torres makes it do able. She's very interactive during class and helps you understand the materials with her provided resources. Make sure you go to class!! I wish she taught a&p 2 I would definitely take her again. 10/10 !!!
The best prof ever! Yes her class is hard, but a&p is hard in general. Dr.Torres cares, and she wants you to understand the material. she provides everything you need in order to be successful. i wish she did ap2! love her class! challenging but 100% worth it.
For the 8-week, there are three multiple choice exams for 60% of the grade and the rest is assignments based. You will need to study and have ample time to give this course, but Dr. Torres is amazing her lectures are very helpful, she provides an exam review, and various extra credit to help you study!
Professor Torres was a very charismatic and respectable instructor. Expectations are clear and is very dedicated to help her students learn everything about Anatomy and Physiology. She offers partial extra credit on certain assignments and answers to emails when asked. Tests were average and is considerate of rechecking tests for inconsistencies.
She is amazing. It really helps you understand by summarizing it as much as possible so that the class does not become so boring. Her readings are fun and practical. I really enjoyed the class despite the immense stress I had to handle, class is only 8 weeks long and it gives you a lot of extra credits it is still A&P and it is not easy at all.
This subject seems intimidating especially an 8 week course, but rest assured this instructor will give you her absolute best and overwhelming amount of study material. With a moderate amount of studying, this class will vanish and you will wish you could have this instructor for all science courses. 10/10
Dr. Torres was an awesome professor, I took her 8-week A&P1 course and I'd definitely take it again. She offers a lot of extra credit opportunities, just put in the time and effort and you'll get a good grade in this class.
She's a very detailed and an excellent teacher,it's a fast paced course so be ready to read and make sure you read to understand cos her exams are kind of tricky. Focus of the prerecorded videos, lecture worksheets and PB4cs which she's gonna provided. Feel free to reach out to her if you're having any difficulties with any course.
8 weeks A&P is NOT for the weak, but Dr. Torres makes it possible. Tests are a big portion and have 2 parts: lab and lecture. For Lab Exam use your LAB MANUAL (memorize bullets for parts of the models), for the Lecture Exam fill out the LECTURE WORKSHEETS (in class or pre-recorded lectures). These 2 items will be the keys to passing the exams.
Dr. Torres is a fantastic professor. She gives you every tool you need to succeed and more, all you have to do is take advantage of that fact and you'll do just fine. The workload is rigorous but if you set a schedule for studying its doable. Use exam reviews for notes only, lecture wkshts, pre-rec-lec vids, and PB4C to prepare for exams!
Fast paced/ extremely time consuming/ stressful at times, but Dr. Torres sets you up for success. She has a passion for what she does and genuinely cares. Lots of extra credit opportunities. If you put the time in, and go to the SLC, follow the exam reviews, PB4Cs and lab manuals you will be okay! Best professor I have had so far.
Dr Torres is probably the best A&P professor you could take there is 3 exams and you do need to be on top of your assignments and notes are done outside of class but she does cover the hard topics in class. There so much extra credit and exam boost points that definitely help plus these assignments are helpful and cover the Exam material.
If you're employed full-time, this class might be a little bit of a challenge. I took the eight week course and I did get a lot of extra credit. She is very lecture heavy. There are three exams with 200 questions divided up into a lab and lecture lab. She expects you to study she will not bend any grades towards the end of the semester, AT ALL.
