this lady is an idiot and has no idea what she's talking about or how to conduct a class especially with college students.
Fairly clear, though shows some bias in her subject. Sometimes misspeaks without realizing it, then gets confused. Relates class material fairly well to practical application.
Her class is only exams, which sucks if ur a bad test taker...other than her lectures were pretty easily to sit through..all she really does is reads powerpoint. Very nice lady.
I enjoyed her class. It was a while ago when I took it, but I thought she was a good prof.
not a very nice lady. she is very rude to the students with her comments and facial expressions. she tries to act cool and funny but she is just mean!!! wont go out of her way to do anything to help anyone in the class. dont like her-don't recommend her.
This was the best class I have ever taken at ISU. She is very clear and interesting. This class and her teachings made me want to change my major to Criminal Justice.
This lady is mean and rude. Avoid her at all costs. I dropped her gen ed class.

Very nice, interesting discussions in class
ok....Cara is an awesome teacher! Her quizzes are fair and her tests might be hard, but she gives a good study guide and prepares you well. Her extra credit policy is also sweeeet. AND SHE IS NOT RUDE...SHE'S ONE OF THE COOLEST PROFESSORS I'VE EVER HAD. Its because of her that i made CJS my minor
Great teacher! Highly Recommended.
This class is extremely easy if you simply go to class and do the readings. The readings are interesting and easy. She gives lots of Extra Credit and her study guides for the tests are very helpful. Simply stated, go to class, read, study and you get an A.
Rabe-Hemp is a good professor, and I recommend her. Her tests are kind of tough, but the quizzes over the reading and the extra credit will boost your grade. I learned a lot of useful information from this class.
i liked her b/c she was very upfront and honest about what was to be expected of her students. her study guides and are very specific and if you do the work anyone should be able to get an A
I thought Cara was a great teacher! She was always very nice and helpful. The readings weren't hard, the quizes were fair, and her test study guides were VERY specific. I would recommend her to anyone willing to do the required work.
Great teacher
Very good teacher. Jus to go to class and you'll get an A. Also, she is very helpful if you need it!
great teacher, makes every class fun and interesting
great teacher!

Cara is OK. That's about it. She has an obvious bias towards men in general and says "right" and "you got it" WAY TOO MUCH!!!! It makes for a very boring lecture. Her voice is very monotone and is a feminazi. Other than that she's cool...i guess.
Very good teacher, easy to understand, easy A.
I though she was a great teacher. The lectures were interesting, she mixed things up, there was a quiz every week which helped get you points, and the study guides for the tests were very detailed. If you go to class and use the study guides for the test, you'll do great!
She was really nice. But her quizzes were random during the week. You were never sure when she was going to give you one. Just make sure you read the material and you will be fine. THE STUDY GUIDES ARE AMAZING!
Great prof.
she gives out ALOT of extra credit points. i missed alot of her lecture courses and i still passed with a B. if you just go to her lectures and do the extra credits you will pass with an easy A
Exhibits definite bias toward academia as opposed to practical experiences; if it wasn't written by a Ph.D, it's not worth talking about. Tests are multiple choice, but lots of picky details make tests difficult (identifying which doctor whote which theory, for instance.) Not very responsive to students' questions for further info on subject.
I thought that she was a great teacher. The topics were interesting and she presented the material in a clear manner. The quizzes were easy and they helped you earn points. The study guides are amazing! Definitely take this course, or any other, with her if you get the chance.
This class is by far the best class that I've taken at ISU so far. Cara makes the classes interesting and fun. The quizzes are very easy...even if you dont read she discusses the material in class right before the quiz, so its no problem...in all this class is great...it helped me decide to make CJS my major
This class might seem like it's going to be impossible at first, but it's really not that bad. As long as you go to class, read the book, use the study guides, and put forth actual effort, it's not that difficult to get an A. And don't worry about the paper...she grades it pretty easily if you have all of the requirements.
Awesome teacher. makes the class very easy and understandable. Study Guides have way more information than on the tests, but no way of telling which information will show up on the test so make sure you know the study guide. Quizzes in class 1 day a week but are easy.
Great professor! easy class, very interesting!
really good teacher and always willing to give extra help, make sure to do supplemental readings
She's a nice person, but her study guides suck. It pretty much tells you to re read all of the stuff you've read. She also has current events in the morning and if no one raises their hands she says, "nada" . It gets kind of annoying after a while
this was the worst teacher i ever had. her study guides are bogus and make no sense. she does not help at all and makes you feel stupid for asking questions. has random quizes (one a week) and will not curve. Even if u are one point away from the letter no curiving...she sucked.
She was very helpful and clear. Study guides were word for word from the test, very helpful. Random quizzes each week on the readings. I would definitely recommend her
She is the worst teacher on the parent of this Earth!!! I hate her class. Its a 200 level but feels like it should be a 1000 level class. Hardest CJS class... She has no experience in the field of Policing so how does she teach Policing??? I like to know... Ohhh and one more thing she takes 10 mins every class taking about daily events... waste of

I went into this class not expecting much but I really enjoyed it and the teacher. The teacher and teaching aid were very helpful and able to arrange office hours for help. As long as you read your notes and go over the study guides you are guarenteed a B. In the end it was a fun class that kept me awake.
My favorite teacher !! She's awesome ! I look forward to her class everytime !
really fun and interesting teacher. Made lectures interesting. Had a quiz every week, but helped your grade in the end. Test not too hard. Really recommend this teacher.
She AWESOME I would highly recommend her as a teacher! The reading is kind of a lot but many sure you do all of it and outline the chapters it really helped me. Shes an awesome teacher in and outside of the class. Very willing to help you, just ask her. Really good teacher
I had no interest in CJS before I took this class, but she made it very interesting. Make sure you keep up with the reading because she quizzes you on it every week. We talked alot about current events and issues that mean something to college students. Very interesting class and she is really nice! Quizzes are usually on the second day of lecture.
She is an awesome instructor with a lot of insight. She is kinda young too. Go to class for lecture though because you'll get a quiz once a week.
I really liked her! She is very precise and willing to give any kind of help she can. She tries to liven up lectures and the book that we read was very interesting. I would recommend her to anyone!
Best professeor I have ever had!

Ok, She is a good teacher but a lier. I was told that there would def be extra credit for me because I had another obligation I had to fulfill. Then what happens. At the end of the semester I recieve a C. But I was 2 points from getting a B. 2 POINTS!! She refused to raise my grade the .075% that I needed, and therefore I have a crap GPA. Thanks...
This class was extremely easy as I didnt know what to expect. Going to class was a waste of time however, because all we did was talk about current evens which had nothing to do with tests. etc. Just read the material and you will get an easy A
Nice teacher, A LOT of work for a 100 level class >( But is one of my liked teachers this semester.
Professor Rabe-Hemp, is very helpful! She is very willing to meet with you outside of class in order to help you succeed. This class isn't extremely hard. READ the material and come to class and you should definitely get a B!
Very good teacher. Tests are basically exact from the study guide so if you fill those out and understand them, you'll be fine. Do your readings though, beacuse the weekly quizzes are easy points if you read. We had 12 10 point quizzes taken out of 100 points. Put in a little effort and getting an A is no problem
Dr. Rabe-Hemp is one of the coolest professors ISU has to offer! Read the books and GO to class and you should be fine. I am currently in the class right now and will leave another comment when I finish the class
Awesome teacher! Very nice and a pretty easy class. Go to class and do the readings and you will do fine! One of the best classes and teachers you will have here.
Very nice teacher. Speaks to the class and does not look down on students. Very nice and understanding. Very interesting too.
She is a very nice teacher. She is always willing to help no matter what. But reading the books is a very vital thing to the class. The only thing is she does not round. I was .5 away from the next letter grade and she did not round. Other than that I did not mind the class because everything was interesting and i learned a lot.
Very interesting class which made the material much easier. One quiz a week on a randomly selected day (usually Thursday) She was full of stories and always willing to help. Know important statistics because they will show up on tests and quizzes. An A is very achievable in this class.
You have to read in this class to do well on the weekly quizzes but they are like 10 questions and pretty easy. She always has stories to tell. I loved going to her class and the material was actually pretty interesting. Take her if you can!
Very good teacher and makes it interesting. She makes things clear and gives examples and is funny. She is helpful and there are quizzes, but just read and you're good. The information is interesting anyway.
She made this class really interesting! The material can be difficult to understand but she is great about office hours. If you go in with questions, she is extremely helpful! She shows you different ways to approach the material and explains it in different ways for you to understand it. Awesome teacher!
reallly nice teacher. powerpoints are on the test. tests are pretty easy as long as you read the chapters and powerpoints. you have to study but it really isn't that bad of a class at all. always have study guides/review session classes. made this class interesting. recommended.
This is my favorite professor. She is hilarious in a mature way. She is really relateable and knows exactly what she is talking about. She is really good at answering everyones questions and definitely makes the class interesting. If you're taking CJS 102 get her as your professor.
A somewhat tough class, but Professor Rabe-Hemp offers as much help as she can on the notes.
Really like her as a teacher. Class is somewhat tough, definitely have to keep up with reading to maintain a decent grade. But she is as helpful as she can be, really enjoyed this class.
Everything she does is straight from the reading. She doesn't round up grades, so make sure you do the readings. Show up for class because there's a quiz once a week and she switches what days they're on. Two quizzes were extra credit, trust me, you'll need them.
I read every assigment and still couldn't get a perfect score on her weekly quizzes. She says she wants you to understand key points but then contradicts herself by asking nitty gritty stuff. Exams suck. Also, I was less than 5 points from an A and she would NOT round up. Take politics! Im sure its easier and there isnt nearly as much reading
I really enjoyed taking this class! Rabe-Hemp is a great professor. She really has a passion for the material and it shows. She is very clear on her expectations. A quiz on the reading once a week. Make sure you read! And a few tests covering the material read too. Attending class is necessary also. Strict but I got an A! It just takes some work.
Do NOT take this class. She's really tough and has you do A LOT of reading. She jumped right into the book without any explanation and she does not explain the readings. The readings are long boring and very confusing. There is a writing assignment every week and it's worth 100 points total. do not take this class it's very stressful.
I loved this class! She is an amazing professor. I learned so much while in this class. She is very passionate about the Criminal Justice System and is very interesting to listen to. There is never a dull moment, very fun course.
Before taking her class, I knew nothing of the Criminal Justice System. Though she assigns a lot of reading, it is best to just do it when it is assigned and take good notes. Whatever she puts on the study guide is what will be on the exams. Her writing assignments are pretty easy too! She really is an awesome professor!
The class isn't that bad. She switched to weekly writing assignments this year and as long as you write something that makes sense, she will give you the points for them. Only 10/12 writing assignments count and the other 2 are EC. Also gave EC for attendance a few times. Just make sure to study for the 3 exams. No final. Take her if you can!
Rabe Hemp is a decent professor. She kind of thinks that she "knows it all", which gets annoying. Writing assignments once a week that you will get full points for if you make sense. Study guide for tests are somewhat broad, but it helps you learn the material. Tests were kind of difficut, but not impossible if you study.
I really had no interest in taking this class, but I actually really enjoyed it and learned a lot. However, there is so much reading it is ridiculous, and the tests are pretty difficult. Just a warning, if you end the class with an 89.5% she will not round it (happened to me).
She is a great teacher! you really only need to attend on thursdays for her in class writing assignments but some are on tuesdays. The readings are very helpful if you want to do good on the test.
Prof Rabe-Hemp was interesting and sassy, with sarcasm thrown in there too. Many valuable experiences and a lot of valuable knowledge to share, the best part about her as a professor. The powerpoints are kind of useless, she doesn't put too much info on them. Tests are pretty difficult, plan on reading a lot. Go to Study Blue for study guides!!
She assigns ridiculous amounts of reading and her power points contain useless info and many typos. Overal the class was easy, just extremely boring. Her tests suck because she finds the least covered tiny details and puts several questions about it on the test. Also many times the question has more than one correct answer, but you can only pick 1.
There is either a quiz or a writing assignment every week. Lots of readings. But if you do read everything, you'll probably be guaranteed an A. I rarely read right now and I'm still getting a B. You also do current events every day.. which take up like 30 minutes of class..
Really good professor but only has 400 points for whole semester 3 tests, and ten 10 point quizzes. Do not mess around with the quizzes, they are over a lot of reading and usually a website. However, she only tests over what she puts on the study guide, if you complete those, tests are easy.
Overall, this class is OK. She assigns a ridiculous amount of reading, and has a 10 point quiz every thursday over all the readings and in class notes. Spends the first 40 minutes of class talking about current events which is always a waste of time. However, if you go to class and do the readings, it shouldn't be too hard of a class.
There's a lot of reading but she is the best professor.
I would suggest reading for this class. Those 10 point quizzes will really make or break your grade. Also, do the readings and ask for help. The readings can get confusing sometimes.
Great professor, knew her stuff and made class interesting to go to. You need to buy the books because there are 10 point quizzes every week on the material required to read for that day. Frustrating because I was one point away from an A with a 89.75% but she will not round up even if asked, so don't try. Overall a good course I would recommend.
Take Rabe-Hemp! she is such a sweet heart, she genuinely cares to get to know her students and she's a great professor. the first two tests were pretty tough because I never read, but the final was a breeze because the book we read was actually interesting! I recommend her 100%!!
Great teacher, really cares about the students
Reading every week for at least 2 hr plus 10 ? Quiz every week. Took a lot of time out of the week especially when not interested in topic. Tests were easy if you knew the study guide she handed out. Did not enjoy this class due to reading and quizzes every week.
I personally thought this class was challenging with Rabe-Hemp. There are weekly quizzes based on a large amount of reading and 3 tests, and that is all that your grade is made up of. There are a few extra credit opportunities. I also thought she was kind of intimidating. She's nice and she cares, but I was afraid to approach her for help.
I really enjoyed this class because she made lectures interesting and kept my attention. She's really knowledgable in her field so she was actually able to explain concepts well. She's got a great sense of humor too.
Was very clear in lecture, and found ways to make class interesting, such as bringing up current events.
There's kind of a lot of reading for this class. There's one quiz every week worth 10 points and two are dropped for extra credit. There's also one more extra credit opportunity so I recommend doing it. Tests are pretty tough and reading is pretty boring but it could be worse. You'll learn some useful stuff.
Rabe-Hemp is a good professor who cares about her students. For someone with as many students as she has, she makes sure you all get the attention that you need when you need it.
Awesome teacher. I was nervous after I read some of the reviews to take her class but it has been overall enjoyable. The tests are difficult but there are study guides and review sessions before that bascially outline the test. Lots of reading each week and pop quizzes, however they are an easy 10 points each week.
I thought it class was really easy, and very interesting. As long as you go to class, do the study guides, and read what is assigned you will be fine. She makes her class really interesting, and tells stories, and finds ways to relate the class to you. If you don't understand something feel free to go see her during office hours she is very helpful
Loved having her for CJS 102! She was my favorite prof. at ISU! Wish she could teach all my classes.
Cara Rabe-Hemp is very passionate and keeps class interesting and enjoyable. Test are directly based on the study guide, no surprises. There are ten point quizzes each week based off of reading from the textbooks. She offers easy and fun extra credit opportunities. The average grade is a B, which is what I received. Overall, great professor!
Hard class that requires A TON of reading but overall very enjoyable. I recommend sitting in the front of the class and asking questions. If she knows you personally, it will help you in the long run! Take this class seriously and an A is possible. Probably favorite professor so far at Illinois State.
Quizzes every week, either Tuesday or Thursday. If you go to office hours, you'll be fine. Tons of reading, though.
She is very clear and makes sure that everyone understands what is going on. She comes up with good examples to make sure people can remember examples for tests. She give study guides for tests and a ton of opportunities for extra credit. Do your work and you will easily pass with an A.
She is a great teacher and really knowledgable. Her research is published everywhere and she is so friendly. Reading and going to class are require though. If you do that, you should not have any problem in this class.
she knows alot on the subject i only bought one of the 3 books required and ill probably get an a
She really loves what she is teaching, and it really shows. Complete and know the study guides for tests and you'll be good. Quizzes every week, a lot of reading. If you pay attention in class, you should be able to swing by in the quizzes. She gives examples so we will remember the content for the test.
She loves what she is teaching, and it really shows. Complete and know the study guides for tests and you'll be good. Quizzes every week, a lot of reading. If you pay attention in class, you should be able to swing by in the quizzes. She gives examples during lecture which help with remembering the content on test days.
She is the best professor! She loves her students and is passionate for her teaching, research, and caring her students. Love her and love her :) If you want to have A, work hard for her class. She is not easy going!!
Really great professor. She genuinely cares that her students actually learn the material rather than just memorizing. She makes this possible by having interesting lectures and gives examples that you can relate to. The class can be hard because there's a lot of reading; but its pretty interesting stuff. Overall, nicest professor I've ever had!
This was my favorite class this semester. She makes the lectures interesting and relatable. Theres a lot of reading to do, but as long as you do it and come to class, it should be an easy class. She offers a lot of extra credit and is very clear as to what she expects.
She is hilarious and I looked forward to going to her class. It is a longer class, but she lets you out early a majority of the time. It is a TON of reading, but it is worth it. She gives extra credit and the course is really interesting. Show up to class because she gives quizzes on the readings and lecture for that week. She is great.
I had Professor Rabe-Hemp my first semester of my freshman year. I loved this class, not only because I like Criminal Justice, but she made the class. She is funny, smart and she knows her stuff. She does love her students and would do anything to help if you need it and ask for it. I highly recommend her! You will have to read, but its not bad.
Such an amazing class and talked about super interesting and eye opening subjects. Would literally take the class again if I could. It's somewhat hard work, but if you read and do what she says she makes it very easy. Gives extra credit and knows what she's talking about. Loved her and this class. Best class taken as ISU so far.
She never fails to make lectures interesting and although you have to really make sure to read in order to pass the readings are very interesting. So as long as you do your work you should be fine in her class. There's a lot of movies you watch in this class and sometimes you might be tested on them so its important to show up. Not a blow off class
Very passionate about material and makes sure to keep it interesting. Tests are difficult, but there are 10 point quizzes at the end of each week to boost your grade. Always come to class..I dont know how many times she's given 10/10s for that weeks quiz because no one came to class. Not a blow off class and you have to do the readings to pass.
Professor Rabe-Hemp is amazing! She makes coming to class super fun. She makes the material we are learning easier to understand and enjoyable. There are random weekly quizes, so attendance is pretty much required. Tests can be kinda tough so make sure you fill out and study the study guides.
She's a great teacher! If you don't like studying for test you can still easily get a B if you go to lecture. Packbacks are 5pts and easy so do them to help your grade. She offers extra credit that takes effort, but there's no homework. It's an interesting class and you'll learn a lot.
Cara is the best teacher I have had so far in college easily. She's extremely passionate in her lectures, helps you in any way you need it, and everything is clear and to the point. She makes you work hard but doesn't overwhelm you and makes class fun. She inspired me to want to be a Criminal Justice major. She's phenomenal.
She is awesome, one of my favorite professors Ive had. Her lectures are very interesting but a downside is not a lot of that material is on the exams. Quizzes are every week so if you want to do good, you have to read! she does give a couple freebees tho so always go on Thursdays. Exams are super straight forward, can study night before & get an A.
Loved it. Cara is helpful & entertaining. It does help that the class is interesting in general. There's weekly readings which you have to do for the weekly quizzes, but it's not that bad. You can tell she cares about us passing & gives a good amount of extra credit.
This class was not easy. Rabe-Hemp did a great job teaching her students. I got so much from this class. She made the lectures extremely interesting. I would take another class with her. Her grading criteria was very clear. I would have done much better if I took her quizzes more seriously.
I actually really liked her class. She made lecture interesting by telling different stories and sometimes showing videos and things to break up the lecture. You definitely need to buy the books. There aren't a lot of notes to take in the class but I would recommend taking them. Overall, a good class that was not to difficult.
I really enjoyed her class. Her lectures are interesting, but even more fun if the students have "what if" questions. You have a reading quiz once a week and I've never gotten full points on one of them. Taking notes over the readings will help however. There are easy online participation points every week.
By far one of my favorite teachers ever. She is really a nice person and wants everyone to do well. She will treat you like an adult and work with you in that way. She is very professional, credible and accomplished. I find her to be extremely interesting and an all around great educator.
Cara is an excellent professor! Her lectures are super enjoyable and her class is easy if you do the work. Read the textbooks and take good notes because you have weekly quizzes on the readings. They are easy, no worries. Tests are also super easy if you know the material. Overall, I enjoyed the course.
Teaches interesting stuff, weekly quizzes that are an easy grade boost if you read and pay attention. Overall an easy class.
Easy to learn from, always energetic, passionate about the topics. She's hot too.
One of the best I've had at ISU. She has clear expectations. Attendance isn't mandatory, but she lets you know that if you miss class, its your own problem. She treats her students as adults and doesn't assign punishment as if we were children. She really opened my eyes on this field and I'm considering switching my major. TAKE HER!!
SO MUCH READING but a pretty interesting class and engaging professor. You have to read the material and go to every class because there is a quiz every week and she doesnt say what day it is on. Take advantage of any extra credit it moved me up a letter grade. Overall I enjoyed the class and the material and would recommend it.
She is literally the best teacher i've ever had and she makes sure to go in detail about everything you need for quizzes and tests. You can tell she really enjoys what she's teahching.
Cara is awesome. She made the material interesting and easy to follow. She is funny which keeps lectures interesting. There is a quiz on the books every week which can make or break your grade. She's hot.
This was one of my favorite professors. She liked to start class with news in the world that related back to class discussions. Quizzes sometimes were just one question like whats my name or is this class awesome. Reading is required to pass the weekly quizzes but theyre no more than 10 questions. One of my favorite classes and professors hands
This professor loves her discussion boards and group projects. We have had multiple group projects, even though it is an online class. My biggest complaint is how vague her directions and assignments are. It makes it hard to understand what she is asking for, and is confusing when it comes to grading.
Tons of reading and notes just to keep up with weekly quizzes that are only 10 points each. However, she gives out study guides which made exams super straight forward. She follows the syllabus almost exactly, so keep up with readings. Offers extra credit. Only graded on 3 exams and 10 quizzes. No cumulative final. No papers.
Amazing Teacher who is very passionate about teaching. 3 tests and 12 quizzes with 2 counting as extra credit. no cumulative final but it is an interesting and easy class. The class is easy and if you miss classes you might miss a quiz and points are hard to come by in this class but it is very easy
Cara is amazing! You are quizzed every week but, it's on your assigned readings/her lectures. There are also 3 tests and her doing her study guides alone will get you at least a B. I'd retake.
She was Awesome and Interesting some professor dont get students' attention but she got it
Good professor and cares about her students but you definitely have to study and put in some effort. I never missed a quiz and got good grades on the tests and was still 3 points from an A. Beware she doesn't round up.
Makes class interesting Is really passionate about the subject Loves her students and wants them to do well Fun lectures She's great. Also feel free to read the first letter of the first word in each sentence because... well yeah.
