So hard.. online comp111 is terrible. She gives instructions but when it comes to papers, she will let you write one, have it peer reviewed, then tell you when you're done it's wrong and you have to change it. Hard grader too. Class average is a 66%! Don't take.
COM is challenging, but that's what college is all about. Gives many chances for revising and improving. She's helpful and cares about students. If you want to learn something and improve your writing, then take this class. If you work hard, you will get a high B or A.
I took her for com 111 on line. which was easy, daily work. She is very helpful if you have questions. She also works in learning lab so if you need something, she's available for extra time. I also took her for com112 in classroom. This class was easier, less work was required. I really liked her!
This is my second class with her and I am going to take her for Lit next year. She is very nice and helpful. If you are willing to work hard and participate you will do well. I recommend her!
A whole lot of busy work. Takes forever to grade your stuff. Midterms and finals are very hard to know what she wants. Marks your participation grade down for no reason. To serious for a 100 level course. DONT TAKE
Good teacher thus far.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF. FOR AN ONLINE CLASS! Difficult to navigate and the "weekly calendars" always have at least one element the is unclear. The class is a lot of work, which would be fine if the instructions were more clear.
THE WORST TEACHER EVER. She does not care if you succeed. Grades assignments weeks or even months late. Responds to emails very short, could never get a helpful answer. Very little feedback on assignments, even major essays. I learned nothing from her class.
Do not take this woman. She is rude, unprofessional, and she doesn’t give clear instruction. She is mean and heartless. She is the worst English professor ever.
I learned a lot in this class and the professor is very helpful. It is all writing and not always easy (for me.) She spent a lot of time working with me. I am taking her again for the next level. If you want to improve your writing and get lots of extra help, then take her.
I'm ready to drop the class despite my current A+. Rude. Unorganized. Unclear. Refuses to give feedback even when asked. Grades you low even when you ask her for better directions.
Will never take another class by her again. She is very contradicting!
I can't believe how much I learned in this class. I won't say it wasn't challenging. I had to rise to it with hard work. The professor is so helpful. She gave so much feedback on drafts and explained everything clearly. There is a lot of independent skill needed for an online class, and I guess I have that, but she always answered questions prompt.
If you like learning about literature and novels then take this class. The reading list is challenging in a short session, but I am learning so much. The novels and other information are very interesting. Great discussions and helpful teacher.
Unclear on what she wants. When you ask for help or feedback takes days for her to respond leaving your assignment late. Rude and Unorganized. I will never take another class by this professor. She is by far the worst one I've had at LLCC. She tells you to follow the example but when you do it is done incorrectly.
The biggest issue with the professor is she doesn't grade papers on time. It's the last week of the semester and we haven't received grades from the third week of school yet. The class isn't hard, but it's the last week of school and I'm waiting on my SECOND essay from her to revise. If I was to receive it today I would only have a day to revise.
I would highly NOT recommend taking this instructor for any English courses. Does not give grades back on time. As a student, if we are given a date to turn an assignment in, we shall receive our grade back in a timely manner, not two or three weeks later. Completely disorganized and rude. Terrible at responding to emails, especially online class.
For her online course, she has the most confusing syllabusweekly plans. The only way I could know when things were due was if i emailed people in the class, dont ask her or email her anything, she'll just give you a non-answer. Her syllabus doesn't have any clear cut dates on when anything is due and it feels so unorganized!!
This professor's assignments are very confusing and I cannot keep up. If I had an actually face to face class, I could at least ask her to be more clear. Too many assignments per week that are unclear and drawn out. I have no idea how I am doing in the class because many of the assignments I understood enough to complete have not been graded.
In this class I have learned a lot. However, I just received a grade for an essay that I turned in med Feburary (it is the end of April). If students are expected to turn grades in at a certain time, we should receive grades at a certain time. Along with that, on two seperate occasions she has done something wrong and not owned up to what she did.
This was not an easy English class, so do not expect an easy A. She assigns lots of assignments a week but the due date was always at the end of the week. She also had a layout of everything that was due each week so you would not forget anything. She was very helpful, and she gave individual feedback for every paper which was very helpful.
She doesn't give feedback on essays until the semester is almost over. I have learned close to nothing in this class. There is no pleasing her when it comes to writing; for an online class, she's a super tough grader. Syllabus and instructions are unclear at points and I had to look at a student's work for an example on what she wanted us to do.
Worst college professor I have ever had. She's rude, she doesn't care about her students, her emails are short and negative, and she doesn't offer any help when asked. I would never EVER take another class with her again. I told every student I know to stay far, far away from this woman.
This was a tough class because it was in the summer and condensed. She worked with me throughout the semester and answered every question I had in detail. She even talked to me on the phone when I was confused and had questions. I had to work hard but I learned a lot. I am taking her again for EGL 102 in the fall. The long semester might be easier.
Nice lady. I took her for English 099. I took it before and didn't pass. It was better with her because she's kinda funny and sits with you to help with writing. Come to class and turn in your work though, or you won't pass. I tried to take her for English 101 but her class was full :-(.
Her syllabus was unclear in terms of expectations and due dates. Her criticism is never anything constructive and it takes her days to respond to emails and weeks to get assignments back. Honestly, she seemed like she was on a constant power trip, assigning primarily "busy work" and then critiquing it like it was part of a master's thesis.
She is awsome really wants her students to be successful. She is always available for questions. Excellent professor!
Throughout the entire semester, she returned maybe two grades within a month of the assignment being due. 50% of the total course grade was based on three papers, yet she assigned hours and hours of homework every single week that she expected everyone to care about. She made everything vastly more complicated than it needed to be.
I did not enjoy her 101 class at all. Everything she put on blackboard was extremely confusing and vague. Almost every assignment that was turned in it took her damn near a month to grade and put in the grade book. She also doesn't"t give verbal feedback on essays which sucks because I want to know what I did wrong so I can fix it the next time.
Online writing is hard, but she taught me a lot. She assigns a lot of writing and it takes a while to get actual grades back, but she gives lots of written feedback. I know I improved my writing. She always answered my messages within a day and helped me when I had questions. She was also flexible with due dates. Good teacher.
Alright I wish so much that I would have read these reviews before taking her class. She doesn't grade anything for months. Months. That's my biggest complaint about her. It's literally your JOB to grade things. She gives little to no feedback when she finally grades things as well.
Okay, This professor is a hard grader. Her workload is super heavy. Her lectures never relate to Paper you are wiring. SHE IS AWFUL! Also, the book she uses sucks, No other professor uses it.
This professor worked with me for the last few weeks of the semester to help me understand and improve. I was so lost and behind. She was patient, called me at home to go over essays and explain directions, and took interest in me. Her class was really hard for me, but I came out of it whith a decent grade thanks to her help. I asked.
Don't plan to take her class if you like your grades relatively quick. It took until the last two weeks of the semester to get grades back. Online classes require participation but the work load for this class was more than what would have been attending a class 5 days a week. Some" short" discussion board questions required 4 pages for answers.
I really liked that this professor gave students a choice to turn work in by the due date or by the midterm or final. This helped me with my work schedule. Really easy to talk to. She answered messages right away and explained everything clearly. I am taking her again for lit. Expect to work tho.
It takes forever to receive grades almost 3 months and stuff hasnt been graded. Takes almost a week to get back through email. I wouldnt take her class again.
It seems as if she does not care about her online class AT ALL. Many students in her on campus classes that I have talked to say that she gets their grades relatively quickly back to them, but yet I have at least eight assignments for her online class that she has not graded whatsoever. I will not take a class with her again. She is horrible.
If you take this Professor online don't expect to ever receive an email back from her. She takes for ever to grade your homework and is not very open to help with things. I would suggest not taking her.
This teacher is pathetic. I have never met a person in education that actually does not care about education until her. She doesnt grade til the end of the semester so if you are failing you wont know. She doesnt respond to emails. Shes very negative. She acts like she has more important things to do than to help her students or grade anything.
All you need to know about this professor is to NEVER TAKE HER CLASS. Very disappointing spending money on college and experiencing a professor like this one.
I took her online class and got lots of feedback on drafts. Some grades took a while to show up but she gave me so many comments it really helped my final grades. She met with me in her office too even though I was online and gave me a lot of help. The class is not easy, but she always explained things to me right away and was very friendly.
I took this online in the short summer session which meant I was reading every day. It was so interesting though. She posts informational powerpoints and videos to help understand the novels. There are a lot of reading quizzes but you only have to write a couple of novel reflections. HIghly recommended.
I am taking her for the second time and I really like the way she teaches. She explaains everything thoroughly, and then cancels class to meet with students one on one to go over the papers and gives time for working on the papers. She is so nice. The class is hard but worth it because I am learning so much and she goes oout of her way. Take her.
I love writing, but as a mom of 3 with a part time job too, I don't have time or patience for busy work. She requires you to add templates into your work that never flow properly into your paper, her expectations are never clear, and she is almost never in her office at office hours. Also if she does respond to emails it is generally snarky.
I cannot account for her on campus classes but taking her online class has been a huge mistake. No organization, very unclear directions, rude when she does decide to answer emails, and never grades papers in a reasonable time frame. The semester is nearly over and I have no idea if I will ace the class or fail because nothing is graded.
I am taking Cara for the third time. She is nice person and been very helpful to me. I used to meet with her in her office a lot for help, now I am only taking online so I have messaged with her all semester and even talked on the phone. She gets that writing is hard and understands about things I struggle with and gives me extra time when needed.
If you take this class, prepare to not have anything graded until the end of the semester, and never really know how you are doing. Do not expect to get prompt responses, and when you finally do get responses, don´t expect them to be helpful. Prepare to have graduate-level expectations place on you for an intro level class. DON´T TAKE SWAFFORD!!!
I liked this professor but she took forever to put grades in! I didn't know my overall grade all semester. I didn't find out until the class was over. She does good teaching wise but she doesn't put grades in right away with a lot of your assignments.....
Changed the due date and assignment dates directly following my oportunity to withdraw allowing me no free time to complete assigmnets, and elimitating my chance at dropping. I tried to explain to her that I'm a single parent and life is hard. I need the assignments a day sooner or to turn them in a day later. She was completely inflexible.
She is good at teaching but will sometimes over load on homework even when you are working on an Essay. Would take her again if I had to but not impressed with how unorganized she can be with grading papers, assignment.
Does not get things graded!!! We are 3-1/2 weeks from end of semester. There are almost twice as many outstanding points that need grading than what has been graded. One of the papers that needs grading was turned in first week of Oct. we have since had another paper due and the 3rd coming due in a week or so. Plus a final paper.
I would not recommend this professor to anyone. She is not flexible at all and is very passive aggressive. She takes attendance as participation grades and does not accept doctors notes, so you will loose points even if you have proof.
She is very understanding, especially if you go to her as soon as possible with any situation. She will do all she can to ensure you pass her class! Helped me a lot when I was struggling to balance school and work.
I loved this class and professor. She was so helpful. My class is online so we don't see each other, but she posts video announcements and is really friendly. I met her in her office and she broke down my essay for me and gave good advice. She gives lots of comments. You have to rewrite papers cause it is part of the process and she helps a lot.
I loved this class and professor. She was so helpful. My class is online so we don't see each other, but she posts video announcements and is really friendly. I met her in her office and she broke down my essay for me and gave good advice. She gives lots of comments.
It was very confusing from the start. Very overwhelming. Soo much stuff that it was counterproductive. I did not learn, I just did stuff to get by. I want to learn. Sometimes a teacher gets soo caught up in giving a load of stuff out, that learning is impossible.
Not going to lie, most of the people in my class thought she was hard but compared to every other teacher Ive had I thought she did she well!
I would advise everyone to never take her class. Ever. She is an awful teacher who does not give feedback and expects that you write essays and turn in multiple drafts without receiving any feedback. She never puts grades in. It took her nearly two months to put in grades from Week 3. Do not take her. If I could rate her as 0, I would.
I loved this professor and class. And I don't typically like writing! She is helpful and cares about her students' learning and she is very understanding. She worked with me through the process of my papers step by step. Good experience!
This is the worst professor ever. Her class is ridiculously difficult for a an English 102 composition class. The directions for each paper were pages long. She NEVER graded anything and three days after the end of the term I still have 15 assignments ungraded. Multiple paper drafts required with no feedback in between. Do NOT take this professor!
She was one of the worst professors ever! She never gave feedback, and gave multiple 0's for things. at the end of the semester she couldn't get grades in so gave more 0's so she could be done! it doesn't seem like she cares about her students 10/10 wouldn't recommend her to even my worst enemy!!!
The class is very confusing. Never tells you when something is due.
The discussion posts each week are essays, not 'discussion posts'. Imagine if someone sent you a 9 page letter via text message. How are you supposed to engage and respond? The cramped window where you type the 'essay' discussion board post is not conducive to interacting with classmates. She assigns too much material to absorb.
Whatever you do, don't take Swafford. She gives a lot of homework with confusing instructions. I'm not learning anything in this class, and I hate writing now because of her. So never take any of her classes unless you love to torture yourself with a teacher that loves the suffering of students.
This professor is very unorganized and I would avoid taking her if you can. She gives a lot of group activities that have nothing to do with class. She waits until the last minute to put grades in and expects you to know every thing about English and not very helpful when writing papers.
So, I loved the course content of this intro to film class. I loved all the films we watched. None of that was the issue. It was the professor. Between her slow grading process, her general laziness, and her incompetence, it's hard to wonder why she still teaches in general. Some people are cut out for teaching. Some aren't.
Failed to show up for some meetings. If you email her about something she will read it and not reply and save it for the next class day. If you ask her a question about something else she won't answer it because shes focused on something else. She inputs ALL grades during finals. She doesn't directly answer questions Informs you on assignments late
She sucks, absolutely do not take her. She gives lots of homework. When writing an essay she doesn't tell you everything that's wrong with it. The final exam was a three-page essay that was due in two days which I thought was dumb.
This course was honestly so disappointing. While I did learn a few things that improved my writing, the assignments often felt irrelevant and redundant. The work itself was not very difficult, but the unclear, contradictive feedback (if she actually showed up to a conference or responded to emails) made the work more difficult than it needed to b
Didn't know this class would be so hard. Had to read books and so much writing. I never did this much in all high school and never learned as much either. She met with me in her office all semester long. A lot of group work and she helped us in groups in class. She explained things until I understood. I am taking her for 102 next semester for sure
I had Professor Swafford for Intro to Humanities online. This was easily one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. She gave tons of lengthy assignments every week and not enough time to complete them. I spent way too much time on her class and it was very stressful. Would not recommend.
Definitely a lot of work and I am a better writer for it. This is college, and I want to be ready for what's coming. I worked hard for an A and don't regret. She definitely challenges you to think and practice writing. She understands that it's tough. Often extended deadlines and spread things out to help us get through the work. Nice and caring!
She was the Most unorganized teacher Ive ever had. I hated going to class. When people asked questions she would answer in a tone that sounded like she was belittling the student. She didnt put grades in until the very last week of classes.
I honestly thought I was getting a B in the class, but I was on the edge and got an A. She was very nice and friendly and helped me whenever I needed it. She takes a lot of extra time to explain things. I pushed myself, and she helped me, and my writing improved a lot.
This was my least favorite class in all of my academic history. Cara does a terrible job posting assignments with any kind of helpful instructions. When you send her an email with a proposal for the subject of your project there will be a 95% chance that she denies it. She grades very hard & is unwilling to compromise on anything and is very rude.
Professor Swafford is challenging yet rewarding. A tough grader compared to some, sure, but as long as you answer or write about the talking points she constructs you should get almost full credit so STAY ON TOPIC. Her courses expect you to work and in doing so you will complete this course a better student. I garnered much through this course.
Assignments were due Tues&Thurs + only assignments were discussion boards, quizzes, and two essays. She wants to come off as strict but still grades things late even after they've been graded. Only reason I didn't get an A is bc I was lazy/busy. Pretty easy class as long as you read everything. My sister said she's horrible in person though so
Although this professor seems pretty nice (never met her as this was an online class) she gives very lengthy assignments. She also does not provide much of her own information or lectures as I was left reading the textbook and watching a million youtube videos. She was an okay teacher, just not for me.
Im taking this professor again for 102. This class wasn't suppose to be online but was because COVID. She did everything she could to try to help students through it. It was hard, but she met me on Zoom many times to help me with papers, re-explained instructions, and let people turn in work very late without points off. She was very nice.
She is a nice person, but none of my stuff really got graded until the last week of school. Times right now are definitely hard, but there were things we wrote in September that got grades the last days in December.
I have two major issues with this professor. One, she takes an eternity to put grades in. Secondly, she does not post all the assignments that are due for the week at the same time. I found out the day prior a paper being due that she assigned a paper. Way to give us a heads up! That does not fly for me. Big, big issue. Thank goodness I looked.
I find it to be very lazy and irresponsible of her to not tell me everything that is wrong with my papers. Thats her job! She lacks transparency when it comes to giving out directions. I typed a 6 page paper for her and she only posted one comment. She does not give constructive criticism. She only highlights what she thinks is wrong. Not a fan.
She makes you properly cite your quiz answers!! her discussions are lengthy and due every other week (like full on papers). She is extremely unclear about her assignment requirements. She also does not put grades in until almost the end of the semester and if you ask her about your grade be ready for a sassy unprofessional response.
She was very difficult to work with. There is no clear guidelines to any assignments. The length of her discussion post assignments are unnecessarily long. Her rubric, assignment instructions, and emails to you directly will always contradict each other. She is a very unfair teacher and I have no respect for her. It's like she wants student to fail
The amount of time it takes her to grade assignments is insanely long. I'm talking MONTHS to receive your grades. There were roughly #7 Discussion Boards, 6/7 Assignments, 2 Essays, and the Final. All of which are VERY VERY lengthily, and worth hardly any points. Nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get a perfect grade on assignments. Very vague w/ instructions.
Homework instructions are VERY unclear, I emailed her once and she told me how to do it, then proceeded to grade it and told me I did it wrong? The length of the homework is unnecessarily long even for discussion boards. On top of all of that, I did not learn a single thing from this class.
There is so much writing and it was so hard but this is a college writing class. All the exercises actually helped my writing even though it seemed like a lot of work every week. She let me turn in work late and didn't take points off. I was glad it was over and don't like all online classes, but she really tried to help me a lot.
Not good at all. Does not explain or give instruction clearly.
Worst teacher in all my years of schooling. Took HUM 201, never again. Few grades, and very picky grader. No extra credit possible. Very reading heavy. Lumps one huge assignment together every two weeks. Messaged her for help multiple times, and was sassy with me and made me feel stupid. Very hard to understand the assignments. DON'T TAKE HER CLASS
She is so nice and helped me a lot. She explained thinges until I understood in class and out of class. It was hard but worth it. I still got a good grade though. My 102 class is easy because I was prepared for it by professor Swafford.
The homework in this class is more than all my other classes combined. It is ungodly. Also when I had questions on stuff about the assignments she wasn't helpful at all. The discussion boards are expected to be like 1500-2000 words for each one and respond to classmates. The only reason to take this class is to hate your life more. I would give a 0
Just don't choose her. Very tough grader and she doesn't give any extra credit, if so only 1 point. But still it is your choice.
She assigned so many stupid, busy-work assignments and graded so tough. She made students feel stupid for asking questions, and her lectures were extremely boring. She is very rigid and harsh, and her assignment instructions were always unclear. She constantly changed due dates, and left many students unprepared. I would not recommend.
Avoid.
I really learned a lot in this class and it was so interesting. She is really nice and passionate about the subject. There is definitely a lot of reading and stuff to watch but she encourages discussion and grades on how much you participate. Projects are fun but you have to do alot of research!
I loved this class. It is basically history of womens literature with some novels and poetry. Theres a lot of reading but also sharing parts of some readings in discussions so you learn without having to read the whole book. You have to write two papers and take quizzes. She is very nice and helpful and lets you rewrite papers. The final is easy.
This class taught me alot but I would not take it again because I struggled so hard in this class. Everytime I had a question she made me feel like I was dumb. I never understood any of her instructions and I always felt like I was being degraded when she would give me feedback.
If you have to take this class, I would not recommend taking it with a lot of other classes. There was so much homework assigned! Way more than any class that I have ever taken. Also, she is a VERY tough grader. Points were lost on silly things. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE if you are looking for a simple class.....it was A TON of work!
Dont chose her for a professor. While shes great with positive feedback it is IMPOSSIBLE to make her happy. I doubt she gave an A out to anyone. Nothing was every good enough for her. Even if she found something good on your paper there was still a thousand things wrong. Accused students of plagiarism when it was clearly not plagarized.
Absolutely ridiculous amounts of homework. 0/10 do not recommend. Take her class if you do not want to leave your computer any weekend out of the entire school year.
The amount of homework she assigned was insane. Directions were ALWAYS unclear and always changed. For example she would say a paper should be 2-3 pages long and then would change it to 3-4. If you miss more than 2 days even with a doctors note she takes off points. She waits to grade everything till very last minute. She makes snarky comments.
she is one of the most disrespectful professors ever. she does not respect her students at all.
She was single handedly the rudest professor I have ever had. Any time I would ask for help or clarification she made me feel stupid and was extremely demeaning. No matter how much effort you put into a paper, even if it was an opinion paper, she would tear it apart and find 100 things wrong with it. I would not recommend anyone take her classes.
She does not explain well. If you have a question she will shut you down and make you figure it out yourself. She gives out 2 4page essays every 4 days. She is horrible. She even gets mad if you walk in 3 minutes late to class. She has an attitude and likes to be so rude to students.
Crazy expectations, For a quiz you must re-watch 40 videos/power points to relocate the answers to site the answer. Example: A PowerPoint: "The Cat in The Hat": Dr. Seuss Series, Slide 3. It took 4 hours to complete a 10 question quiz! RUN, If she is the only instructor left wait for another semester. Consider yourself WARNED!
This Professor is really difficult however the class so far isn't very hard. A lot of the time if you got a question about an essay the answer she'll provide may also make you feel dumb by how she says it. She gives out a lot of homework however most of it is just busy work. She also will barley grade said work. Definitely wouldn't recommend her.
Class is canceled a bunch, she's not all that helpful although she is quick to respond. She takes forever to grade work and will take points off for the smallest of details. If you have more to your life than just this course then don't take it because with the amount of work you receive it's rare that you'll have free time.
I took two of her classes, and each was incredible difficult. She taught nothing in the class, and relied on powerpoints or outside reading. The discussions were like essays every week. I never had a day I wasn't doing work for the class. I've cried multiple times from the amount of stress. She answers questions in condescending ways.
I took this professor for two semesters. She's very encouraging and helpful. She requires online meetings but gives a lot of feedback to help you revise the papers. A lot of small assignments lead up to the papers and you get points for just doing them. She lets you rewrite and turn things in way past the deadlines if your grade is slipping.
If I could give her a 0 I would. Never in my life have I received a B. She was not easy to talk to. For a paper, we got to choose our own topic. I chose a controversial topic, which was what was required. I felt that she gave a bad grade on the paper because she did not agree with my opinion, not due to the quality of the paper. Would not recommend
She is extremely helpful if you're struggling. She encourages you to meet with her for extra helping is flexible with due dates if you need extra time. You just have to put in the effort. Writing isn't easy for me and I put a lot of time into this class. I was happy with my grade which was better because she worked with me. Taking her for Engl 102.
The homework assigned took hours every day and the grading was so strict, it was hard to ever get an A, no matter how much effort was put into the assignments. She accused me of copying other students, even if I was the first to submit work, and plagiarizing multiple times. Overall her class just made me despise anything literature related.
She is very hard on grading. She gives out so much homework that was for an extra class that was not even needed for my degree. I would not recommend this class or this teacher to anyone. AWFUL
She tends to be very hateful and accusatory. She fully believes we all use ChatGPT and gives zeros. Also expects you to read full books over the course of a week. I thought Film as Lit meant watching films and analyzing them as literature, not giving 45 minute presentations on a book we NEVER discussed.
Tough grader who sticks to her teaching style. Lots of work, but worth it if you put in the effort. unstuck study was a lifesaver for prepping assignments. Just avoid if you're looking for an easy A.
Took her for Hum 101. The class itself wasn't that hard. gave homework every single night. lots of outside reading and work. very condescending. accused multiple people of using AI to write. i had to resubmit my final essay 4 times. was wrong on her info multiple times. she used a grade contract for this class. wouldn't take her again.
Decent as a person but not my favorite instructor. Currently enrolled, expected to read 400+ pages of book within 2 weeks or as if you have no other classes or you don't have to work. Expected to do a lot of homework due throughout weekdays and not on weekend like everyone else. Forced to watch/read in free time. Homework over spring break...
One thing I should have done before taking this course was to check this site. Everything that she does is backhanded, or to show her superiority. I wouldn't say I'm a perfect student, but the amount of work done in preparation for each class is ridiculous. She expects so much for just an intro-level English class. DON'T TAKE HER CLASS.
Man, I've never been in such a boring class before. English isn't a subject most students would get excited about, but Swafford just makes this subject equivalent to torture. Every class for 75 minutes either consists of reading off PowerPoint slides or doing peer reviews, which is even worse since the average attendance for this class was 3. Avoid
Just very boring, not a necessarily interesting or inspiring teacher. She makes you do lots of work, mostly consisting of busy work/pointles. Shes a good teacher somewhat, but just lacks the quality of being a nice & easy person that wants to help you learn & do better.
This teacher is difficult, accusatory, and hard to reach. All lectures and grading rubrics were unreasonably ambiguous. The criteria is not clear and she will not explain what you did wrong. If you contract for a grade, you can redo assignments and she becomes even more ambiguous. Do not take her class. You will hate it.
Wow, I have been going to college for three years and this is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. Nothing is ever good enough, instructions are very unclear. And if it is somehow good enough, she will accuse you of AI and make you do it all over again. This teacher has no situational awareness at all.
I'm a month from graduating and have only ever gotten two B's in my entire college-career, this was one of them. This class is far from "Intro to English" level. If your writing is strong, you're accused of using AI with zero proof. I've had to rewrite multiple papers just to d- them down and meet narrow standards. I'm clearly not the only one.
This professor is disorganized and unclear with instructions. Even when asked for help, she gives vague answers. She accuses students of plagiarism without reading their work and relies only on software. Grades are lower than expected, with little feedback. Her class made me consider dropping out.
shes mean lol
I've done years of online and in person and this class was the most difficult I've ever had don't recommend.
This teacher has made me hate college and hate anything related to English. I used to love English classes but she has managed to make it so incredibly uninteresting, boring, and dreadful. Rude in her replies and corrections and can't even seem to remember her own students name. Can't wait for this class to be over.
dropped class because of little help with explanation
Took an Eastern Civilizations online class with her. Not a single lecture. Upwards of 10-20 websites/ youtube videos assigned for each module. no other methods of teaching. Each discussion and quiz is based off of the hundreds of links she assigns from people who actually did the work to teach the subject. completely disorganized canvas page.
Expects her students to read and watch a stupid amount of youtube videos and articles. Around 10-15 to watch/read per assignment. The amount of work is not high but she expects very precise answers so by not watching the articles/videos you will get lost quickly. Withdrawn because the workload at the end of the semester is unbearable.
Lol don't take this class. Comically absurd number of readings, videos, and jank websites you will have to use (and only these) for sources. Her grading is too subjective for such a subjective class. She will accuse you of using AI via using AI. I hate liberal arts classes, and this class certainly lives up to that standard of hatred.
She did a contract grading system for my class. You definitely need to watch the videos and do the reading/ assignments to succeed. However, it's not as much as people claim it is. It's an average amount of work for a college class. She is lecture heavy but everything is with good intention. If you respect her and her class, she'll respect you.
She may come across tense or strict, but if you take the chance to talk to her she is really friendly. She may be a little disorganized when it comes to assignments and turning them in, but in the end she does want her students to succeed. If you do your work based on what she asks and the criteria, you will get a good grade.
Worst professor I have ever had. Lectures are boring and pointless but attendance is mandatory. She is extremely condescending and passive aggressive. Grading is confusing and feedback is ambiguous. Will accuse you of using AI regardless of anything.
