She is the best psychology teacher that you will ever have. She is extremely funny yet incredibly intelligent. She never ceases to amaze you. If you go to this school then you have to take her. Have Fun!!

She is a great teacher. Her tests are quite easy (all on a scantron). However, the majority of the points received from the course come from the labs, and more importantly, the research papers. If you can't stand writing, stay away from this class.
She is deffinitely hot and she is funny and extremely knowlegable, she makes the class go by pretty quickly.
Funny and interesting. One of the only classes that I wanted to show up for, just to hear her stories!! Very clear and if you show up and listen you will pass!!
If you like hearing stories then she is a great teacher, but if you are the type that just wants to hear the information and go home she is not the teacher for you considering two thirds of the class she is telling stories about herself.
She is a great professor. She's fun, the material is easy to learn if you pay attention and read. Make sure to do the labs(VERY IMPORTANT). She makes you want to show up to class...very entertaining.

I thought she was a waste of time and I was in the class for about two days- I could not see myself being instructed by someone like that...I always give teachers the benefit of the doubt...but she was really lame!! I really cannot comprehend why so many like her-she sucks

Cari Cannon is such a sweet lady. She has a dirty sense of humor but she's really nice and very helpful, she be sure to help you succeed if you want to. Utilize office hours!!!
If you male you will love her. If your a conservative female, you'l hate her. Easy class, I wish she did a little more teaching, I love her sense of humor as I have sexual humor as well. She does think highly of herself but so do 90% of professors. I recomend this teacher nonetheless
She is a cool teacher with a funny sense of humor. She knows what she is talking about. Her tests are a little difficult though. The way she phrases questions on the can be a little trickey. You will enjoy the class you just need to read the book and take notes.

She doesn't care about her students. She isn't helpful. She is impatient. Very difficult tests. If you are not a good test taker, stay away from this class. I liked all my other teachers at Scc though.

She's looks fabulous in her green shirt. She goes into left field often with jokes on sex and her bloodhound but, remains on topic. The tests are hard, but she gives you a rough outline of what will be on them. Watch out, shell screw you on your attendance grade if she has the chance. It dropped me from an A to a B and my attendance wasnt bad.

Tough class
she is tough. her standards are quite high. This class is not easy to pass. You should plan on studying hours every single night. Her tests are rather difficult. I didn't like her personality, she is too arrogant. She thinks too highly of herself and makes her students feel like crap. She won't take any excuses, even if there is a family emergency.
She's a genuinely funny/entertaining person, but as a teacher she's tough. Grades depend on how well you do on tests, which is usually fine but many questions on the exams seem a bit ambiguous and the answers subjective. Missing a couple drops your grade down considerably, which is frustrating since the subject's relatively easy. She's hot, though

Cannon is extremely intelligent and very humorous. She is more in touch with students than most teachers and keeps the class interesting and enjoyable. She often provides anecdotes which help to illustrate an idea or subject, which are usually humorous and memorable. Ignore those who say she's "unfair" or "too hard" - that's totally inaccurate.
Cannon is a complete b****. She is too stuck up and difficult. Ignore those people who say "those who say cannon is tough are too lazy to study" because aside from this class my GPA is a 3.8. what does that tell you?

I took it online. Read the book! Only way to pass. Tests are difficult even with the book in front of my face and I'm an A student. She rarely responded to my emails and when she did she was not helpful. Miscalculated everyone's grades and refused to fix until many complained to higher ups. Would never take her again!!!

If your looking for a teacher with a condescending attitude, "im right and your wrong attitude", exams that are almost impossible to pass even if you study 3-4 hours a night, won't take ANY excuses even if a family member dies, then cannon is the one for you

Yes, all the reviews below are 100 percent true. She is extremely tough. Psychology is a tough class all around, only take it if you are a psych major. If not, there are better electives to take under Section D in the transfer plan. there is sociology, history, computer science. i recommend sociology 100 with doctor west.

She is a good teacher, not easy by any means, but gives good lectures. However I agree with the previous comments when they say "She thinks shes GOD" she is condescending and someone needs to inform her that she is ONLY A TEACHER AT A COMMUNITY COLLEGE. Professors don't make that much money. anywhere.
I took her for intro to psych, its a fair class. If you go, pay attention, and study you will be fine. I am currently enrolled in her Psych 219 and 200 class and she is honestly a phenomenal teacher, interesting and teaches in ways that will help you remember the ideas and concepts. I would recommend her to anyone

This is my account of her Psychology 100. Good introduction class. The sexual innuendos are sometimes too extreme. If your a guy don't try to hit her up or nothing she just likes being the center of it. The content of this class is intro like for that is what the class is.
Biopsycology is just hard. It helps if you took biology alread/at the same time. The online tests aint bad at all, the scantron, Oh GOD!.My 2nd class wit her,still captures emotion/attention with sex talk, shes fun,if she messes with you just put her in her place.Hot? This girl cant handle me. Definetly an aquired taste, Umali-kopp is calmer.
The class isn't difficult but there is a lot of work to do for it (weekly quizzes, reading, labs, projects,papers). She makes each class interesting but sometimes get side tracked so its important to read the book if you want to pass the class. I'd take her again.
Dr. Canon is an excellent, and hilarious teacher. I can't believe rating saying she is too hard. COLLEGE IS NOT ABOUT EASY A's! If you listen to lectures and do a fair amount of studying you will learn a lot, get a good grade, and probably laugh your butt off.

Dr. Cannon is a great teacher! It is SO easy to listen in class because with every concept you learn, she tells a story. It is very easy to keep up with her. Don't forget about the weekly quizzes! You use your book though, and get two chances. Piece of cake! Study for the tests....they're not impossible. She's there to help!

How to define Cari Cannon....first off...If you want to learn about psychology i do not recommend this class. if you want Cari Cannon 101 then this class would be great for you. I cannot say i have learned anything in this class. Although I do know her life story. The woman thinks she is hot although she is half way through her 40's.
Cannon is an absolute joke. She needs to go find an open mic night to go tell her stupid jokes at, because it's inappropriate to ramble on in class about subjects that are only peripherally related to psychology. I couldn't care less about your dog, history, or personal life. This isn't a comedy show, it's a college course. Be a professional.
Super funny! Plan to be at every class, because she's very strict about attendance. The subject matter in Biopsych is somewhat hard, but her tests aren't too bad. The term group project is a big part of the grade, so make sure to devote a lot of time to it. Great psych teacher. I took 2 more of her classes after this one.
Dr. Cannon really isn't a great teacher. All she does is talk about how much money you make and try to make you feel bad when you speak in class to be funny. Study for the tests and you'll do fine, but the class is just a waste of time

Though she talks a lot about her life, it tends to reflect the subject matter and give a good example of the concepts. Anyone that calls her course hard or call her unfair is probably not that good of a student in the first place. Would recommend at the very least for her unique teaching style and friendly attitude.

Take her online class and you won't regret it. She has been by far the easiest Psychology professor I ever had. Easy "A" in this class, she never gave us online homework or papers to write. All she focuses is on the online quizzes/Exams and they are pretty darn easy.

Her online 100 class is SUPER easy. No papers or online homework; just discussion boards, readings and quizzes every week and only two exams the whole semester. DEFINITELY recommend.
She does teach at the college level and her tests are not easy. Do the quizzes on time(which are online and no time limit)read the book a lot because the majority of the questions come from there and study your online quizzes, she puts questions from there on her tests and you'll be fine. It's a pretty B not an easy A. She is very funny.
VERY amazing teacher for online classes - No textbook needed if you don't wanna use it. Just study the lesson notes and powerpoints. Only assignments are discussion board, a 10 question quiz each week. Midterm and then a final. VERY simple. Recommended to anyone considering this class.
I thought she was a great teacher. She was hilarious and clear about what was on her tests. She offered ex. credit and encouraged psych majors to sign up for psych hon. soc. Bio psych is a SCIENCE class! I got an A expecting a B. I was constantly trying to fig. out her age b/c she looks so young but has been teaching there like 10 years!
Here's the deal, she is in fact a pretty good teacher. However, she's very much lacking people skills...I don't think anyone can deny that. Honestly, she's not that nice, and really doesn't care that much about her students. If you manage to become a favorite, which does take work, then she's quite helpful. If not, good luck.
One thing you need to know is that Cari is kind of a, well, female dog. She can be down right mean, and has little care for you as a student. That being said, she does teach the material quite well. Just, expect some delays, as she often starts rambling about something that has little relevance to the topic. Usually, it's about her dog.
This was a forum class so she does not take attendance. Didn't have to read the book much, she provides notes and study guides online for you to print and bring to class. Study from those and you will pass. Very easy homework, no essays. Shes very entertaining and made me laugh. Some people are too sensitive and don't get her sense of humor.

Cannon is an awesome teacher loves talking about her dogs and sex. She goes of topic when lecturing since she always has a story so make sure to read the book ahead of class to understand and print out lecture notes, she doesn't repeat herself so pay attention, and starting from the first week of class she gives quizzes every week do Sunday
Not good.She is not inspired or passionate about teaching her subject,and she doesnt care whether you get the material or not-if you don't its your problem, not hers. She has a cyncial view of life and shares lots of irrelevant stories-why not just teach instead? many in the class were put off by her attitude-unfortuantely,theres no other choice.

She was not the greatest at teaching but if you needed helped and you asked her she would help. She offered extra credit and was not a hard grader. The tests, homework and quizzes were all online and not hard. To pass you have to do the weekly quizzes, they are easy points. Do the papers and tests and you should be able to get a B. I thought she was a neat teacher and I am surprised at the nasty comments. Her tests were kinda hard but I've had worse. I got an A. She likes to talk and tries to make the class interesting....even if she's not your cup of tea...does it really matter? It isn't a popularity contest. She's quirky, but that's what's so lovable about her. The class isn't super easy, you have to earn the grade you receive but there's nothing wrong with that. I would definitely take her again.
She is a great teacher! Her lectures are never boring and she uses personal examples to help you remember things for test. Blackboard quizzes are super easy (must do them), exams can be difficult (read the chapters and fill out study guides she provides), and do the extra credit (20pts end of semester). Drops the lowest exam and 2 lowest quizzes!

Cannon is hilarious if you understand her sarcastic sense of humor! You do have to be motivated to succeed. Must do ALL hw and quizzes. Study the book and start on research papers early. Overall, I learned alot in this class and bcause it was challenging, it prepared me to transfer. An A is possible if you are organized, pay attention, and study.
Quizzes & discussion boards are easy points. However, she is unresponsive to emails re: technical problems with the website & assignments. She has zero interest in teaching and is by far the RUDEST college instructor I've ever had. Exams consist of random questions from the textbook publisher, contrary to the syllabus, and include skipped chapters.
Her lectures are comparable to comedy hour, she's hilarious; however, I walked out of that class knowing just as much as I did when I walked in. The tests are impossibly difficult, and this is coming from someone who actually reads and studies the textbook, she expects way too much out of what little she gives you.
Dr. Cannon is a great professor. She may go off topic with stories a lot but plenty of her stories actually related to the subject. Her class is for students who are ready to be adults, not for high school students expecting her to hold their hand. Read, study, go to class, and pay attention - exams and quizzes will be easy if you do!
Really enjoy this class! The professor is hilarious regardless of her sometimes inappropriate jokes. She legitimately makes the entire class crack up laughing majority of the time (I've actually shed tears from laughing so hard). She goes a bit off topic sometimes but ties her stories back into the lesson. Love this class and would recommend it!
Lectures were off topic, exams were online open book but generally hard considering she doesn't cover material thoroughly if at all. Save yourself the time and take a different professor. She is very unapproachable to top it off.
If you want a professor who will hold your hand, take a hike. I took 219 right before transferring to UCI and worked my butt off for my A. I had to take research methods and an upper division writing class again at UCI and was able to breeze through them thanks to what I learned in Cari's class. Show up to class, do your work and you're good to go.
I took her online psychology 157 class during intercession. Many of the quiz questions were on the test so I found it fairly easy. You just have to listen to the lectures and be well organized.
I suppose i should preface this with the fact that i am 29 years old, so this is from a much different perspective than someone straight out of highschool. Cari is an awesome professor! She does her job and shes well versed in the field. She will treat you like an adult, Cari is very real world. Her workload and grading is very fair.
The tests are 100 questions each, and there are 3. There are 4 papers in APA format that aren't too hard if you try. She gives you an outline on how to write in APA and I literally just did what it said. Also, once you get a good grade just change the information and keep the wording. Thats what I did and got A's on 3 out of 4 papers.
For online class, only uses powerpoints from the publisher. Not accessible. Warns you only to email if it is important. Will not respond to emails if you have " attitude." Quizzes come straight from publisher- so easy. Midterms much harder. Little effort on the instructor's part. Must buy her book for extra credit. Not worth it!
I cant speak about her actual classes, but I took her online course and I completely 100% regret registering for it. She absolutely does not care about her students and is very rude. Her tests also do not mirror her lectures or study guides. The content itself is interesting, but do yourself a favor and search for a better professor.
I took this class online and it was definitely hard work. I thought this class would be fun because I took a similar class in high school and loved it but I was wrong. She would grade the discussion boards harder than she should.I kept getting Ds on the tests even though I saw most of the questions and answers on quizelt
Super easy class. Literally just discussion posts, read the book, easy quizzes. Tests have questions from the quizzes so pretty easy. Other from that it's a straightforward class. It is more self taught with hardly any professor participation.
Super hard professor. Took her online for Psyc 100 and she is a tough grader! She grades way to hard and does not make time to meet with students also be careful if you ask a question because all she will say it read the Syllabus
Being an online class, I learned a lot through her powerpoints. There are quizzes on a weekly bases, based off of her powerpoints. There are three exams, some quiz questions are on the exam, so pay attention. Discussion boards are basic and simplistic just do them and reply and you'll get your points. Take this class!

She's very unclear when it comes to a lot of her assignments, labs have no correlation to what we are learning, THE ONLY EXTRA CREDIT is to BUY HER BOOK SHE WROTE. This is the hardest, most confusing class I have ever taken. DO NOT TAKE HER.
Do not take this class with her! I took it online and you are not allowed to email her or she will drop your grade. Her lectures are ridiculously unclear and you have to practically wing every assignment and hope that is what she wants. Heavy work load for minimal directions. There are 2 papers due at the end of the semester, with no directions.

This was my third time taking prof Cannon, and I had no issues. Put in the work, and you'll get the grade you desire. It's an upper division course, she wants you to produce university level content. Quizzes/ hw easy, be through. Exams- tougher than quizzes but simplistic. Two papers- give yourself ample time to revise, their difficult/ lengthy.
I was dropped from the online class for not completing a few assignments. The reasons being... (1) She posted NO lectures. (2) She posted MANY lecture slides each week we were expected to read & memorize as well as the textbook & the discussion post for that week. (3) This should not be a CC course. Taking ALL prereq's, I was completely UNPREPARED.
If it's online class, DON'T BUY BOOK. You won't need it because she has powerpoints to help. 3 exams (100 pts each), 12 quizzes (10 pts each), 13 discussions (2.5 pts each). If you do well on the quizzes, you'll do good on the exams. Not really much of a caring teacher. Also, this class was 4 weeks long, it's easy! Just do the work :)
Easy class, tough grader. Gave no feedback on homework, and only sent out two emails/ announcements. First one pretty much said read the syllabus before wasting my time emailing me, second dont email me about grades or complain. Had an 89.3 and she didnt round me up to the A, never missed an assignment. Doable class but avoid if possible.
Don't buy actual book but do buy the extra credit coloring book because it will help w/ your grade. If you do good on the quizzes, you'll be fine with the tests but there are some q's not on the quiz that are on the tests, so be aware of that. Kind of a tough grader on discussions but if you follow her guidelines, it's manageable.
Took this class online and hated it. My work schedule keeps me busy all week, so I tried to get to the lectures and homework whenever possible. Never missed an assignment, but also had trouble understanding them. The assignments have questions that she doesnt talk about in her lecture. And the lectures themselves are too long and put me to sleep.
I took her 19 years apart. I disliked her when I was 18 but I thought it was just me being an immature kid. Nope! I'm now 37 and she has not changed one bit. She is a terrible teacher who is unapproachable and rude. Ask a question and she'll make you feel stupid for asking. I worked my tail off for this class and I still received a low grade. Awful
Professor doesn't let you email her. She only has a discussion board where you can ask questions and she takes a while to get back to basic questions. The set up on canvas is a bit confusing so highly recommend checking the modules section twice a week. She sends information through announcements so pay close attention. It is a hard class.
Easy class, quizzes and exams were all online when I took this. She's pretty funny but she's very arrogant. I took this class years ago and I'm actually a psych student at UCLA now and yet she's the most arrogant professor I've come across. We get it, you have a PhD, but that's no reason to put yourself on a pedestal.
I'm just an international student, the only thing I want to do is to get a good result! This professor is the worst professor I have ever met. I have to say that she makes me sick. Just posts lecture videos that are pretty much mandatory if you want to understand anything in the slightest, especially the online labs. Gives some feedback on papers but everything is pretty much self-taught. Definitely buy the textbook and APA manual because without either you're gonna be pretty lost. Okay teacher in general.
This class was the bane of my existence. I urge you as a student to avoid at all costs. She is very unclear in every single aspect of her class. Very hard when it comes to grading papers in this class. She is very tyrant-like when it comes to plagiarism. Make sure you adjust the speed on her Youtube lectures to 1.25. She actually talks that slow.
Seriously the worst professor I have ever taken. I just finished the course and she did not grade ANYONE'S final paper in Canvas. She gave everyone a C and let everyone pass... just the worst teacher. Don't even bother emailing her she never replies. If you can avoid her please do, she is not very helpful.
I had 2 papers 2 tests a couple quizzes and weekly discussions/labs. Not bad workload but the papers were extremely hard and she doesnt communicate. She gave so many students 0s on the first paper because of plagiarism so be extremely careful when quoting and reading directions. Extremely horrible for your mental health. Tests and quizzes easy.
Professor Cannon is honestly the worst professor I've ever had, my high school teachers were 1000 times better than her. She hardly gives any direction on what she wants for her assignments and takes an extremely long time to grade papers. She told our class that she would lower our grades if we emailed her. Don't take her if you can help it.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I took her research methods in psych course and I can honestly say she was one of the worst professors Ive had. Threatened to lower our grades if we emailed her and gave me a zero on my first paper without any reconsideration. She was rude and degrading and made me feel stupid. Lectures were videos w no other instruction.
While she does get annoyed at email correspondence, class was not too bad, just kind of self-taught. It's very important to watch lecture videos in order to understand any labs or quizzes. She offered some live help for the papers, which was very helpful, even though no one showed up to. Although she can be kind of testy with grading, not bad prof.
MAKE SURE TO GET EC COLORING BOOK! That book saved my grade and provided a very well needed cushion for my grade. The content of the class was quite difficult but the coloring book and helped reinforce ideas that I didn't understand. She provided outside links to videos to watch that made understanding the content, not too bad. Overall not too bad.
I'm taking her Bio psychology 200 class over the fall semester and it was awful from the beginning. She insisted we get Mindtap which she never gave any proper instruction to how to use or what we were even using it with. I've gone weeks trying to follow it's chapter learning since she hasn't taught a single thing, yet we still have quizzes... >:(
This class is so interesting! The Professor provides in-depth lectures, and excellent study guides. In order to do well it is important to to complete the reading as well as study. If you're looking for an easy A this is not the class for you, the material is detailed and can be difficult and requires effort and studying in order to do well.
She's one of the worst professors i've ever had. The class work and tests are fairly simple, but if you don't understand something than don't expect her to teach you. She won't respond to emails and when you ask for help she just doesn't reply. She sent an announcement saying she'll lower your grade if you email her about your grade.
Prof. Cannon is rad. Clear expectations. Syllabus included a structured reading schedule, EC/Test/Quiz/Forum dates, etc. She got sick one week- no issues because she had laid out a solid plan for the semester. My advice- read the chapters, do the homework, take notes during her lectures, color for EC, don't ask dumb questions, and read the syllabus
There is absolutely no feedback, she does not respond to any emails and majority of her assignments have extremely vague directions. She has an extremely strict email policy that makes communication close to impossible. If you prefer a course with interaction and support from the professor, this is not the course for you.
She's lazy with her uploading, doesn't ever respond to any emails, uploads important submission links late (once even after the due date), and is an unnecessarily harsh grader. For two small format errors, she marked my final down to a 50/100. Many of my peers were also stressed by the teacher's lack of ability. Easy class, but gets annoying.
She will not respond to any of your emails. She does not upload places on Canvas to turn in papers on time. She grades harshly on the research paper (50 points off for two formatting mistakes). If you dont have to take the class, dont. If you need it, be prepared to do it on your own/with classmates and be prepared for it to be frustrating.
This professor literally gives 0 feedback. she grades ridiculously harshly and doesnt even tell you why she took away points and wont respond when you ask her why. the class is entirely online so there is literally no chance to ask her. the class isnt hard, but shes not great.

I had professor Cannon for an online psych course. She has a set out outline but you must stick to it. She does not consider personal circumstances and is not well caring towards her students. She has shown that on numerous instances and I have heard similar stories from others. She might not want to be your first choice but if you must.
Absolutely horrible. The material is fun, but this glorified Cesar Milan is a terrible communicator and creates tests/quizzes that are not in line with her lectures. Lastly, she spends 50% of the lecture mentioning how she's a doctor as if anyone cares. Currently taking the class b4 I transfer, so I'm stuck. But I suggest looking for another prof
DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! If you read the powerpoints in modules you will 100% pass with class with ease. all exams (3) are multiple choice and super easy. PAY ATTENTION TO THE QUIZZES!!!!! this was a super easy class but was also interesting for some chapters if you wanted to learn something.
Today I came across an old email where Cannon told me that taking the time to read my question was a waste of her time. It's no wonder that her research is in animal behavior. It's obvious that she's not into human interaction. I hope that she has a change of heart and that she stops doing her undergrads wrong the way that she does.
One of the worst professors I have ever had. She does not respond to emails/questions. Does not explain herself for deducting points on assignments. She refused to let me make up assignments after going into labor 3 weeks early and being in the hospital for 3 days. When I emailed her she responded, "Check the syllabus."
A very disrespectful professor who cannot consider criticism or realize her own mistakes. Her class was simple no thanks to her, but she chooses to not update any of her canvas announcements and leaves all assignments and certain due dates for her students to figure out even when it says a different date on canvas. be ready to hunt for any info!
Down right awful professor, nothing was clear the entire semester and she never responded to emails or DB. When she finally does it is in the worst tone as if you are a child. Cari Cannon should be your last choice as a professor and I hope she reads these and changes her ways. The least she could do is update her canvas to tell the correct info.
The class is self-taught, but unstuck study was a big help for study prep. The professor can be unresponsive and harsh on grading, but the material itself isn't too difficult.
Assignments are fairly easy, the lectures help. She is very strict and does't want to help students. Will not let you turn in any late assignments. I was 20 minutes late turning in a paper due to technical difficulties, she did not let me turn it in, I received a 0. Grade went from an A to an F based on that one paper & could not raise my grade.
F THIS PROF. genuinely hate her. she doesnt reply to her emails, tough grader, unlocks assignments same day due. doesnt accept late work. do not reccomend at all, i been through hell this summer w her.
First F I've ever gotten. Prof gave me a 0 on my term paper for "plagiarism" but neglected my emails asking for help to avoid the issue before it was due. Unfair and overly harsh grading for an introductory class. Likes to be intimidating. Normal workload but canvas layout/deadlines were confusing and difficult to follow. Avoid if you can.

Worst teacher imaginable. She has a power dynamic that uncalled for, does not extend for documented medical emergencies, takes off points that cannot be explained, does not respond to emails. She can make an A+ student look bad. Save yourself and go to Santa ana for this course. Any other teacher is better.
AVOID Cannon. Many students got 0/100 on a paper due to unclear instructions. Class avg on that paper was 3.4 out of 100! A fair instructor would've taken responsibility & offered a curve or full pts makeup option. Many with As, dropped to Cs. She's tenured, dismissive, takes little responsibility, and lacks empathy, relies on 100% on textbook.
