Very nice professor! Great notes, tests come from notes. She gives a review--tests stick to review. She teaches different biology courses. I had her for Biology. We did group activities and alot of extra credit.
Pretty cool. You have to study for her tests to pass. She is ususlly willing to give bonus points, just ask her. But overall she is a good teacher.
I hate science, but her powerpoints really helped. She e-mailed them so you really don't have to take notes if you have a computer. You can have them right there in front of your as she explains. Tests come straight from study guide! Easy 'A' if you try a little!
emails you all the notes, lectures are very long and confusing, does not take roll, grades are based on tests only, gives tons of extra credit! not all that helpful in explaing things. she trys really hard but i leave class confused often. gives a review sheet but the tests are random and you HAVE t
Very nice great teacher

highly recommended.... nice professor
She is awesome! Always willing to answer questions. She wants you to pass her class. Gives extra credit--just study her notes and you will pass!
Deen is a very nice lady, but her lectures are so boring. If you actually want to learn the material then take Stone. If you just want an A take Deen. Tests aren't hard and she gave ~50 pts. bonus
She is very helpful and very nice. I would recommend her!
she is the best teacher in science dept.... very very helpful... she cares about her students

she's the best science teacher in the dept, she is willing to help you during her office hours if your confused about anything, she emails you her powerpoints and you do have to study for her tests but she offers extra credit too. i would recommend her to everyone.
Very nice and really wants to help. Has interesting tidbits, it keeps the class interesting. Tests are okay. Probably one of the best teachers in the bio department
She uses a ton of Power Point presentations which can be annoying. I like her quizzes, they usually aren't hard and she'll tell you when one will be and what to study. Tests can be difficult. If you take you're time to study, you'll do good. You never know exactly what it'll be over, even with the test review sheets. Overall enjoyable and worthy!
i love her she is so nice and easy the test might make you study but take the class because she is worth it i love her
she is not easy, theres bonus but she teaches like its elementary school. Her tests are difficult and she is unclear, take stone
If you are not interested in Biology and are just looking for an easy A, DO NOT take this class. She is very boring and unclear. She gives study guides but they're huge and you still have no clue whats on the test.
The class itself is challenging, but Dr. Deen is a wonderful professor and explains everything throughly. Read through the chapters if you do not understand a concept, do her Review. For insurance, she provides extra credit assignments which are not time constraining. Take this class... Dr. Deen is Awesome!
Excellent communicator, available to questions and student needs, fairminded and helpful. Very balanced individual.
Lectures very helpful.Forthright in what she expects to you know.Provides opportunities for extra work to improve grade.Happy, pleasant instructor whose interest in biology translates well into her teaching. She appears to like her students and really care if they are successful.Exams are multiple choice/scantron.Don't blow off lab, reports=test grd
This class is so hard! She is such a nice professor, but it's just a hard class. She does offer some extra credit, but the tests are so hard that I'm not sure it helps much. I have heard that there are easier classes. I would recommend those.
I dont think you can ask for much easier. Super sweet lady. there are no secrets. notes in class go right off study guide and so does the test. if you know the notes you take in class, youll do excellent on exams. gives deadline extensions and very approachable. also has opps for extra credit!
She's a very sweet person. She really wants you to learn the material. Uses powerpoint for all her notes. Doesn't require attendence, so not very many people actually come, but she's pretty clear with her notes. Test questions come from notes and select passages from the book. I would recommend her as a teacher.
Physiology is going to be difficult with anyone, but she was always willing to go through the study guide with me one on one (if I had done it) and help me with any topic I was confused about and she also let me know pretty clearer what she exactly wanted to me know about certain topics - go in and see her during office hrs... helpful!!! VERY NICE!
She is so nice and offers lots of extra credit. I thought that I had failed the class, but when I got my grades I found out that I had made a b. She really wants to help and is really nice.
This is a required class for majors. I cant complain too much, she is a good teacher. Tests are straight from the review sheet, but dont get the illusion that its all easy sailing. You will have to study. Buy the book. No way around it. Dont buy the online thing. Good class!
Wonderful professor. Lots of extra credit. Tests are not easy but took this as a summer course. Don't need the book over the summer. She is extremely helpful.
she teaches by power points and her tests are directly from your notes so just study your notes and you will be fine (i went over mine a couple times before each test). she has in class assignments and some out of class but they dont take long. she is really great and always willing to help! i definitely recommend her. i made an A
This class is very difficult but the professor is very nice. She is willing to answer any questions you have. Tests are from your notes so if you study like crazy you can make a good grade. definately go class everyday so that you don't miss anything! She was VERY nice and helpful. I would recommend her to anyone!
She made me find my interest in biology! The course is difficult and requires a lot of effort from the student but Dr. Deen is great at explaining the complicated subject and helps you with in clarification you need! DO YOU STUDY GUIDES!!!! they will save you test grades!
Dr. Deen is so helpful and nice! She makes sure her students understand the material, even if it takes several tries for it to stick. Take her!
Easy class, recommend taking her if you can. she does well at explaining, and makes sure you understand. just have to study notes for tests, and do in class work and you will pass. class consists of taking notes most of the time.
My favorite teacher this semester! She is crystal clear when explaining the material and relates things to everyday life. She is always willing to help you if you need it. Just make sure to go to class, take good notes, study for your tests and you'll be fine. Lots of opportunities for a good grade.
super sweet lady super nice. she's ready to help all the time. chances for extra credit! you'll do good if you remember the notes. Book is not needed in summer.Take her.
Very nice lady. Tests come from the notes; still need to study study tho! I really liked her and enjoyed her class
Bio for majors
Deen is a very sweet lady. She explained things repetitively and very thoroughly to ensure that everyone understood. She was quick to answer questions and give additional help when needed. Her lectures were never boring. Her exams came directly from the slides. Great class!
Dr. Deen is one the best professors at UCO. She is calm and very knowledgeable in her field. Take her for every class she teaches!!
She is great! A very nice person and very knowledgeable.
Dr. Deen is one of my favorite professors at UCO (I have 130 hours). She takes extra time to help when needed, covers only material relevant, and very fair when it comes to grading. Don't slack though, studying is needed for an A
Dr. Deen was AWESOME! I took her online Biology for Majors course and it was great. She was always available to answer questions if I had one. Definitely study for her tests but they are directly from the power points. Definitely take her if you can!
Took online course. Very helpful. 12 quizzes, 4 exams, final. Low exam score replaced by final score. Majority of final exam is same questions from previous exams. Missed few assignments, allows you to submit late discussions for credit; made "B" in course. Highly recommend her!!!
She is the sweetest professor I've ever known at UCO. I took the class online and the tests were on campus. The test questions are clear and direct definitions, and are easy to pass with some studying (flashcards are heaven). Homework and online quizzes insanely easy. Love her to pieces - will be taking her for Human Physiology.
She was the nicest and most caring professor that I have taken! She was always willing to help and would let you make up work if you missed it. If you are struggling DO NOT be afraid to ask her for help, because she is always willing to help you and explain the material in detail! I HIGHLY recommend taking her!
She is a kind and sweethearted person; she'll talk to you about personal things if you ever need her. Very tough grader on the homework, which is done per group (so you don't end up having that much homework individually). She literally gives you the answers to the final, and that's the main grade that counts. Very fun class!
She is absolutely the sweetest lady! I really enjoyed this class and would recommend taking her to other students. I took the online class, and the modules provided were helpful in understanding the material. Her test were based on the modules, so no book is needed for this class.
Cari is such a sweet professor, I took her online Phys class but met with her a few times during the semester to take her tests, and she always had a smile on her face. Her tests are composed of facts and info from the modules on D2L, do ALL assignments on D2L, easy 100's. Tests can be a bit challenging, but the little assignments helped my grade.
Dr. Deen is not transparent in her syllabus. It originally stated we would take classes on campus. Now we go through an insecure third party and have to pay $20/test. If your privacy and rights don't matter to you, you will do fine in this class. There's also a $150 program that is a completion grade. Expect to pay a lot for nothing.
Great professor! Bio I for majors is a known dropout course which is why it is difficult! but she outlines it very well for you. Required Launchpad online HW costs money but an easy 100 points which helps the grade tremendously. Extra credit offered. Discussions. Tests are based on modules on d2L. Very nice professor who actually cares about you.
I have not been in school for almost 9 years and decided to take this course online. I would meet with Dr. Deen on Thursdays if I needed something explained in detail. I told her I wanted to at least make a B in the class and she helped me accomplish that. Make sure to STUDY THE LEARNING CURVE QUESTIONS on the website, it basically IS THE EXAMS.
This class was by far my most difficult science class I have ever taken. I did poorly on the first 2 exams but luckily there was D2L assignments that you always get 100 on if you do them. After speaking with her I realized that the tests were word for word the online note modules. So if you can just read and read those, you'll do well on the tests!
The online physiology class requires the use of ProctorU at $20 a test and is completely awful. Many of her test questions do not actually test your comprehension of the material but rather your memorization of insignificant details. That being said, she is very helpful and kind when approached with questions.
Not clear with the material needed for test. Only used Launchpad assignments for work and then the exams. No guidelines, previous test, or guides given for all the material covered so I felt it was unfair to the student. Only available one day a week for a few hours which is inconvenient.
The online class is difficult, you need to study a lot and really work hard. Physiology isn't easy, and her tests show that, but this class is still doable. The online assignments are easy and she grades easy on those so don't miss it. Good class if you have a lot going on because sometimes you have 2 weeks to finish short assignments.
Had her for mam phys 1 and 2 both online. Easiest bio classes ever because she gives you the answers for the tests a day before (essays). If you want to actually learn mam phys however, I wouldn't take it online because its too easy to BS. Take it in class with Stone. But if you want easy A, take it online. Only con is she takes forever to grade.
Read chapters entirely. Read overviews and studied heavy but so many questions and so broad that its difficult to get high grades.
This is a weed out class so it is hard. Read the chapters, it is absolutely worth your time. Really study the quiz and test questions on launchpad, that is where the majority of the questions for the test are from, also study the learning curve questions. Tough class, but if you work hard, it will pay off.
Way too many assignments, in that it confuses the student on what to study and what not to study whenever it comes to an exam. There was about only 6 grades which four of them were exams and the other grades were only worth small amount of points. She tells you what to study, but it would not be on the exam. You have to completely teach yourself..
I absolutely loved Dr. Deen. I had her for online physiology, definitely recommend! Just be ready to read and learn on your own. If you ever fall behind she is willing to help you get back on track and make sure you fully understand the lectures. I only received the grade I did because I didn't study hard at all.
She's really nice, but nothing I studied or took notes on was on the exams, which were huge determining factors of my grade. The exam questions came out of no where, and the Launchpad work seems to pile up fast. I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone. There aren't enough opportunities to pad your grade or pick yourself up.
She is a solid choice for Mammalian Physiology I, make sure you print off the notes she gives and study those backwards and forwards before exams. Also spend a few days preparing and learning the free response questions.
Deen is a solid choice for Mam Phys I. Only grades in this class are 4 tests and 2 research papers. Tests are taken from the notes she gives. Study those hard and early before each exam. Tests are comprised of MC and Free response but she mostly gives you the prompts for each essay before each exam. You may need pics if you haven't taken anatomy.
Take Dr. Deen for Mam Phys! You wont regret. Her tests come directly from the modules. Study those in and out. The tests usually have 20 multiple choice and 3 essays. She mostly gives you the essay prompts. There are also 2 research papers. I wish I had the option of taking her for all my classes because she is the best bio prof Ive had so far!
Physiology with Deen was the best. She was super easy and her exams are like 99% straight from her online notes. I put a 4/5 for difficulty because you still have to put a lot of effort in memorizing her material (which can be a lot), but everything you need is given. She uses proctoru so studying is essential. She grades easily and seems nice.
I took Professor Deen over the summer online and I failed the first exam, but was still able to get an A due to the assignments and the extra credit she offered. Her weekly quizzes come from the online modules just like the exams. She uses proctorU for exams so you must study and understand the material before taking the exam.
I took her for mamm phys I this summer online. she puts out the lectures and you have to read them on your own. I had to watch a lot of youtube videos to understand the lectures better. made my own study guide with pictures which helped a lot. her tests are Half multiple choice and half essay but its not that bad she gives you the essay questions.
Dr. Deen is nice but this class wasnt the best. I took it online and felt like there were very few interactions with other people. The tests felt disconnected from the rest of the class.
By far one of the best professors Ive had. Online version: we had 4 modules, each with 1 quiz/discussion/test, and they were open for weeks at a time. 2 papers but those were actually easy. She grades very leniently, which is very nice since Mam Phys is typically a difficult class. Tests are super easy! Actually feel like I learned more here!
The labs were fun and informative. Attendance was not 'mandatory' however if you didn't show up, you would need to make up the work at home. Dr. Deen was very easy-going and caring. I loved her motto; learning should not be stressful. I would definitely take her class again!
I had heard good things about Dr. Deen's physiology class and I wasn't disappointed! All of the homework, modules and the discussions she had were perfectly tailored to the class. If you just dedicate an hour a day to going over her material, leading up to the class; then you'll do just fine! You rock Dr. Deen!
This class was very hard but it is a weed out class. I took it over the summer and had around 5 days to complete each module and still finished with an A. Read the textbook memorize every bolded term and use khan academy to get an idea of application based questions. Exams were very difficult however she does give some extra credit.
Poor communication, lack of correspondence, and feedback. Test restrictions do not align with syllabus.
I took Dr. Dean for Human Physiology over the summer, and it is a hybrid course. The class was tolerable and she is very lenient with her students. If you have any questions or need help, she will do her very best. Read the notes that she posted on D2L, it is mostly covered for the exams.
Dr. Deen=tough professor and should be teaching honors classes. She makes her own tests and harbors on the fine details like the diameter size of capillaries. I can remember her test score average usually being a 75% and the mode 70%. Please safe yourself and pick a different professor. Not worth the headache!!
She is alright her tears are really hard and I would not recommended taking her AT ALL:
Best professor for mammalian physiology. I took her over the summer and for fall this year, she is really good. Study the information poster she has on the gradebook and you'll be fine.
definitely worth taking. dr. deen is very caring and allows extensions. tests are easy if you study and pay attention in lecture
Probably one of the worst professors I've taken, does not reply to emails, exams are extremely hard, her averages are around 50-60%, take yourself the headache and do not take her online course, she is insanely difficult to work with
Quite literally one of the worst professors for human physiology, please do not take her online course, 1 am not sure if I will even pass at this point. The reviews are lies because she gives extra credit if you leave a good review. Overall one is not a good online professor, 1am not even sure why she teaches online.
She might be good for general bio, but she is awful for human phys, never replies to emails, not helpful, her exams are nothing like notes, instead of focusing on main points of lectures she will ask questions about the fine details, making it impossible to study for her exams. She should not be teaching this course, instead teach an honors course.
Worst online professor, she's better teaching in person, do not take human phys online with her, you will not pass, not even sure why she teaches online she is god awful, mot to mention she doesn't reply to emails.
you are better off learning from a frog
I meant to give her a 1.0 quality, but I really mean it when I saw you are better off learning from Kermit the frog
guys, i REPEAT do NOT take her if you want to keep your high GPA, a piece of actual turd could teach better, she literally gets her exams from two buck ten because her exams are hard to study for
Probably could've gotten an A if I took it with someone else, she is just not a good professor overall, and she doesn't really seem like she likes her job. Not really sure why she is mostly an online professor if she doesn't reply to emails. Don't bother either her and take human phys with either melstrom or stone, either would be better than Deen
Terrible professor, that's all I have to say
Dr. Deen is a sweet & cheery professor. You're mostly going to depend on yourself to learn the material, but she gives you long & concise study guides that preps you for the test. Slides & study guides are online. She does not follow the syllabus's dates for tests or announce test dates, so you kinda have to go to lecture to know when they are.
this class was the reason why i started antidepressants
Not a good online professor at all, maybe she is better at general bio, but for human phys, count your days bcs she doesn't make it easy. Not even sure why she teaches online, lousy professor
I am currently taking this class with Dr Deen. I had my health issues which made my semester very difficult. Dr Deen understood my situation, helped me a lot, more than anyone would ever have. She is very sweet, her study materials are very helpful. I recommend everyone to take her class. One of the best professors in UCO.
She is so kind! You can have any conversation you want with her. She gives extra credit, but you'll have to go to class to actually get it. Homework isn't too heavy; just make sure you study for tests and exams.
I love her as a person and want to be her best friend, that being said she's not exactly the best teacher. Her lectures are very boring, the tests are pretty difficult, and she goes on a lot of personal tangents mid lecture that make the unit hard to keep track of. Would recomend asking her for help, she's smart but not very succinct
Very lecture heavy but absolutely willing to answer any questions you may have and just such a kind professor. I really enjoyed the class and learned a lot. I would recommend this class to anyone thats wanting a good professor for General Biology.
