Mrs. Kapellusch is by far, my favorite teacher at UTA. She is always in a good mood & makes her class really fun! 4 Multiple Choice tests, & she drops the lowest test grade. If you are happy with your first 3 test scores, then you don't have to take the final. A couple speeches and projects, but they are fun! I would recommend her to anyone.
Overall, I enjoyed professor Kappelusch. This was her first year teaching at UTA, and she had to play some catchup for our class. She is very invested in class, hilarious, and the class discussions are great. Tests were somewhat difficult, and the service-learning project was worth a lot of points. I would recommend her very much.
She is an amazing professor! She loves her job and her students. She makes the course material fun, interesting and helps you want to be successful. There is a big service learning project that takes up the last two months of the class worth a lot of points. Her tests are somewhat difficult but she lets you drop the lowest and double the highest.
At first she seems really mean but after a few classes with her she lets down her front. I liked her classes I just mostly hater her projects she had us do. For us she added ten minutes to the length of our presentation a weekend before the presentation. Group leaders pick people who you can get along with and you know. My group was good.
Super nice and funny. The only thing is you have to beware of a huge group project that will very likely get in the way of your other classes due to how demanding it is. There are lots of small assignments that require talking in front of the class, so if you don't like that maybe reconsider.
In Business and Professional Communications you will have to do one group project. Be prepared for this to take up a lot of your time, but it is a super easy A for a major project. Her tests are very straight forward if you go over her PowerPoints. You don't need to purchase a textbook she goes over all the important information in class!
Really sweet lady! Cares about her students and wants to see you succeed. One of the very few professors that wants to learn your name and who you are. Tests are easy if you read through her PPTs. Service learning project make up almost half of your grade. Overall, one of the best classes I've taken.
Been in in college for three and a half years. Will graduate May 2016. Prof. Kapellusch is by far my most favorite teacher I've ever had. Everything you learn can be used in your daily life and work life. I will absolutely take her again and I highly recommend her to anyone that wants to learn.
Professor Kapellusch was one of my favorite professors at UTA. She is extremely helpful, but is tough on her students (only because she wants you to succeed). There is a group project, but it was one of the best experiences I have had. The group project should be an easy A if your group does what is asked. P.S. she does take attendance.
Professor Kapellusch is an AWESOME Professor. She tells you everything you need to know for your test. There is a MAJOR group assignment towards the end of the semester, an informative speech, and an elevator speech. Its not hard to pass as long as you are in class.
Hands down my favorite teacher ever! Class has 4 fat quizes, lowest dropped, resume and critique, elevator speech, info. speech and group proj that consists of: work plan, paper and pers speech. You need to study for the quizes and group proj will take up time, but it's worth it. Attendance is req; miss too much class and you lose grade points.
Great class. Learned a lot. She is awesome.
She is by far one of the most honest professors & very detailed about what she expects from you and expects you to do well. Course consist of 4 tests, 1 informative and 2 elevator speeches, and group project. You really do not need the book. She's available electronically/during office hours. I would definitely recommend taking her class!
If you don't like to laugh then do not take this class. Prof Kapellusch made an 8 am class bearable. No surprises and everything is in the syllabus. If you make lower than a B then it was earned. I wish there were more Professors with her passion and wit.
She is by far the BEST professor I've taken at UTA! She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Her lectures were very informative and you will take valuable information with you into the real world. I was always excited to go to her class because I knew I would learn something new every class period. Do your work as asked - A!
Carie Kapelleush was such an amazing professor. One of the best professors i have taken since being in college (which is long.) She defiantly cares about her students, and tells you what you need to hear. All of the pointers she has taught in class is something that can be use in the real world. She knows her stuff. TRUST. TAKE HER!
I highly recommend not to take her course, if you have a busy semester. Otherwise, Carie is the upmost and profound - one of the best professors to take. She literally will prepare you for what life has to offer outside school, which means she will be strict! She's a tough grader and expects assignments to be PRECISE by EXACT instructions given!!
Very kind and straight forward lady! Final Group project, resume/cover letter assignment, 4 total quizzes (1 is dropped), Informative speech, and Job speech. She will makes you work for an A, but with the right motivation its not impossible. Tough grader, so go to her office hours-gives good feedback for the most possible points on assignments.
Best professor I've ever had by far! She REALLY knows her stuff and she sincerely has your best interest at heart. Attendance is part of your grade, and it is a small class, so participation really matters. She switches things up between lectures and group work and is not test heavy at all. She even drops the lowest "test". Easy A if you show up!
Seriously an amazing professor. I took her class at 8 a.m. because it was the only thing that worked with my schedule but she made going to class worth it. She is the kind of teacher who truly wants you to succeed and does everything she can to give you the tools to do so. Intelligent, caring, funny, this lady knows her stuff. 10/10 recommend.
Carie is amazing! She cares about you and your future - truly engaged in her teaching. She will give it to you like real life, though, so be prepared for that. Tests are simple, presentations are easy if you prepare for them adequately. Easy A!
Seriously! she is way too nitpicky. Avoid her for COMS 2302. We arent coms major. Took her over summer and she is an extremely harsh grader when it comes to her presentation grading. She will say that all tests would be from her slides and lectures. But unfortunately most questions were from book.
I learned SO much! I hated the idea of taking a COMS course, didn't see the point for engineers/science majors. I was sooo wrong. Wish I had taken her for regular semester. to have her longer. If you don't do well it's bc you didn't try, or can't read/follow directions!!!
This has actually been the most helpful class I've taken so far in college. The first test is hard but after that the other ones are all easy, I barely studied and passed them all. As long as you follow instructions and show up to class you'll get an easy A. She also gives a few extra credit opportunities and you won't need the textbook.
Best professor I've had at UTA. Direct about what she wants, but is completely willing to help you out. Really cares about the students and has a passion for teaching (definitely noticeable). TAKE HER CLASS!!!
Carie is the best professor I've had so far in my college career. She's straight forward on what she wants. As long as you dedicate yourself and put effort into her work, expect to have a solid grade. Would definitely take her again!
Her lectures intrigued almost everyone in the class and made students want to show up and not skip or be late. Definitely a professor worth having even if you aren't majoring in communication. She teaches valuable life skills that we all lacked in high school.
1. Not easy 2. You will learn things extremely relevant to real life 3. Has 4 quizzes (drops lowest) and a few presentations and assignments 4. Doesn't curve 5. You'll lose grades if you miss more than 2 classes without an excuse 6. She has a lot of experience in hiring so she'll tell you like it is! 7. Really cares for her students She's Awesome!
I cannot recommend Carie enough, she is hands down THE BEST professor at UTA. I was a senior when I took her Business and Professional Communication class and oh my god I left every single lecture learning something new. She has a clear format and explains her assignments way in advance so there is no room for misunderstanding.
The best professor I've had so far at this university. Really funny, insightful, and cares about your participation, learning, and well being. Hard grader, but gives you what you've earned. Would love to take another class with her.
Carie is literally the best professor ever. She gives you useful and applicable information that you can use in both real life and in the classroom. Her lectures are really funny and engaging, and really cares about improving your communication skills. She gives super clear and honest feedback.
If you want to know what it's like to have a quality professor who cares about her students, choose her. Engages the class in lecture, gives you great feedback on your assignments, and knows how to make a proper powerpoint.
Carie is phenomenal. She had great power points and her lectures were always super interesting. She really does care about her students and makes you feel at home in the classroom. Don't overthink the class, the rubrics are always spelt out.
I learned SO MUCH. I took Carie 3 years ago and she is amazing. Listen to her, and follow her directions, and you'll do great.
She's an amazing instructor who genuinely cares about her students. There's 3 quizzes which are all online, one elevator pitch presentation, one self analysis presentation, and a resume/cover letter assignment. Her rubrics are extremely clear so you know exactly what she expects. Her lectures aren't note heavy and are all posted on canvas. TAKE HER
Grades way too harshly and expects you to know everything. And she wont slow down to properly explain simple concepts. Pass on this professor if you can.
Mrs Carie is by far the best professor I had in my entire career at UTA. She cares about her students, she gives great feedback, she will work with you as long as you show you care. She is highly respected and she WILL prepare you for life after college. I learned how to negotiate salary which is something that's HIGHLY important in this field.
Professor Kapellusch is an amazing professor and if you take her class you'll become a better communicator. She's excellent at her craft, and she'll motivate you to be better. She's also caring and approachable. You can always ask her questions! If you're on the fence, just take her class, you won't regret it.
This class was a mess. I was genuinely excited for this class but found myself learning very little. She is nice but teaching is about more than that as she often seemed lost and did not present the material effectively. Didnt respond well to questions. Her teaching style is confusing and sometimes seems as though she did not know the material.
I loved this class! I was really dreading it at first,( I am kind of shy). Mrs.K was so kind & understanding. She is very supportive of ALL her students. She is tough but fair (as all prof. should be). I learned so much to help me in my future professional life and my current life as a college student. I have never had a professor do that! AWESOME.
The information was interesting but the professor was awful. The syllabus and other course documents were unorganized which made it difficult to figure out basic stuff. Often talked about other things that have nothing to do with the class.
She has been the most compassionate teacher Ive had online! I completely missed an assignment due date and by the next week she had an extra credit opportunity available to me to make up some points I lost. She gives good feedback and CLEAR expectations on what shes expecting of us. She is not a harsh grader at all. Replies quick to email too.
I missed an assignment. I should still end up with an A because of the extra credit she added. Literally all you have to do is do the assignments on time. There are specific rubrics. The late work policy is iffy but she mentioned reevaluating that before next semester.
She knew exactly what she was talking about. You can tell that shes had years of real world experience in this profession. Just watch all of the lectures. Read everything carefully or else you will fail, and that will be on you. Everything was clearly spelled out and she was such a caring/kind professor. Shes not usually lenient, but can be.
If you read the modules and do the assignments (that she gives LOTS of time to accomplish) you will pass easily with an A. She gives examples, clear rubric, and templates for the "tougher" assignments. 2 major projects that she also gives tons of time and doesn't drown you in work during that time to allow you to focus on those projects.
I looked forward to this class every week during this crazy semester. I learned so much new information that I can use in my current and future work life. I also learned a lot that applied to my personal relationships. She is very educated and knows how to teach you in a way for you to understand the material. I wish she could teach all my classes.
No. Just no. Getting myself to attend this class is the hardest thing I've ever done. Grading is inconsistent and the instructions are always questionable and lectures are snoozers and have absolutely no correlation to the assignments.
Grading confusing, things kept changing all the time, all of the students were confused most of the time, it was not pleasant to be confused. But I would say that I would not take this class again, but if you want to take it you will still pass it. Once you put all the hard work and dedication.
Seriously, if you dont do well it is NOT because of this prof! Either you cant or wont READ!!! She lays out the assignment and grade sheet. If you cant follow it-blame yourself! TONS of useful info given-that is all helpful and interesting. First time teaching this online, she constantly tried to adjust to help US, tearing her up here sux.
No. Her lectures are not that helpful. This is a difficult course and it shouldn't be. She seems nice but isn't.
If you cant succeed with Prof Carie it is UR FAULT! She gives multiple examples, offers to look at ur work early, answers emails fast. She cares about us as people as well as students. I felt respected and learned SO much. You want a baby class-dont go to college.
I took Ms. Carie this Spring semester online and she is by far one of the most caring professors in my experience. She doesn't expect perfection and applauds improvement and most importantly makes speech a lot less scarier through her encouragement. Definitely take her if you can, she is so engaging once you pass the class you'll want to go back.
Carie is absolutely one of the best professors I have ever taken and she gives amazing feedback on how to improve. She doesn't expect perfection, only improvement and shes very generous on giving ways to help you improve. She also cares about her students as people instead of just students. If you need this class, take her!
She is one of the best professors. She is very understanding and gives excellent feedback. she gives great feedback on assignments before you turn them in. I also learned many useful things such as how to negotiate for salary and how to craft an excellent resume. I loved this course and would definitely take it again
Not enough words to describe the excellence of Professor Kappellusch. If you do not get the grade you want, you did not put in the work expected! She respects you as an equal adult, wants nothing but success for you, and more importantly, is one of the best educators! One of the kindest and most caring persons, while also providing no bias. 10/10!
Amazing professor! The way she teaches is amazing and she truly cares about her students. She was always offering resources and making sure we were okay. Speeches are very specific, which makes it easier on the student. Shes a tough grader sometimes, but its only to ensure you do well. You should pass as long as you do the work! Love her!
ANY bad reviews are by big babies that can't follow directions (or read)! Ur in college, GROW UP. These 3 bad reviews are def done by the same person. If they read this...U SUCK. Prof. Kapellusch is the best I've ever had. I've never learned so much and loved every single class. She bent over backwards to help anyone. GREAT experience.
Super nitpicky, and had rambling instructions. AVOID!
Not very accommodating, too hard and strict with too much and did not realize we are in a pandemic!
She is a bit much, too controlling and too rude. TAKE OTHER TEACHERS!
Lectures had almost nothing to do with the assignments. She was very passive aggressive and borderline rude and her comments were designed to make you feel like you just aren't trying hard enough, when she was completely non-existent.
She pushes her personal views on you and doesnt spend nearly enough time on the class material. AVOID! Do NOT take!
This professor is the worst professor I've ever had. Unsympathetic. Her explanations aren't helpful and there's way too much homework. This is too much. Please avoid her at all costs.
I have taken Professor Kapellusch for two different classes and she is amazing. She does want you to work hard, but It's because she wants her students to succeed. I love that she gives us all the material for the class and we can save money on a textbook. She is very considerate and has a passion for teaching. Highly recommend.
Quite honestly the worst teacher I've ever had. Her lectures were all over the place and she would complain a lot. Very critical if you asked questions.
I found her to be very disorganized, not prepared for class at all. And super strict!
In my opinion, she is a terrible teacher. She doesn't teach the material very well. She is also very boring in lectures and comes across as disrespectful. Her class is not recommended
Absolutely love and adore this professor. She makes it very clear from day one her expectations as well as her grading criteria for assignments. You don’t need the textbook. If you pay attention and take notes during lecture you’ll be fine. Such an easy A. One of the best professors I’ve ever had.
Professor Kapellusch is a character. She's enthusiastic about her subject matter and has a lot of experience to back it up. I felt like she really wanted to know each of her students and took a genuine interest in supporting them in their personal/professional lives. Her grading criteria is very specific - so start early and ask questions.
Professor Kapellusch is a character. She's enthusiastic about her subject and has a lot of experience to back it up. I feel like she genuinely wants to know each of her students individually and support them in their personal/professional lives. She is a meticulous grader and sometimes guidelines are murky - so start early and ask questions.
Prof Carie keeps this class interesting and I always felt safe and supported (bc I'm terrified of public speaking)!!!. If you're looking for someone organized, knowledgeable, caring and funny take her-you won't be sorry. She'll just randomly give speech examples and she's an awesome speaker too. No textbook-luv that!
Not the most engaging teacher. Very boring and info is common sense. Didn't feel like I learned anything and rules were very strict too.
STOP BULLYING PROF. K! Don't believe any of the crazy-bad comments. Something is wrong with that person (clearly the SAME person). Dude/Dudette GET OVER IT. I'm an engineering major and if you think Prof K is hard...you are sheltered. I've learned more about real life and career preparation and I'll use these skills for many years to come.
Professor Kapellusch is without a doubt one of my favorite professors I have had at UTA. She is very caring and wants her students to be successful. Moreover, she looks for improvement, not perfection. If you put in the work and attend class, you will do well. I have learned a lot and I highly recommend taking Professor Kapellusch if you can!
Professor Kapellusch is what UTA needs more of. She saw that I was slipping and engaged me to stick it out and keep going. She believed in me and did not give up on me. I am grateful that she has real world experience and she tells you what the expectations are for work in corporate America. Love her ....She is amazing!
I had a really hard time with my mental health and a lot of other personal things this semester. Carie was extremely caring and so understanding. I rarely showed up to class because of my depression and she never held that against me. She was so caring and helped me get in touch with a counselor at UTA. Take her! She is amazing!
Carie has been my favorite professor at UTA!
Professor Kapellusch is an amazing TEACHER and person. I can't recommend her highly enough. Trust the feedback that gives actual information (she does NOT give pop quizzes OR assign a bunch of homework). Her grading is very clear and fair.
Honestly, she is very sweet and caring. However, her lectures sometimes can be a bit boring. Some of the information she gives is repetitive and I feel like common knowledge. Overall, she's a good professor and truly cares about your personal life and academics! I also really admire how she grades over improvement and not perfection :)
There are no tests in this class, I took this at 8 am she's always so entertaining. The work you need to do is literally so easy, like the rubric spells precisely what you need to do, if you do what's on the rubric you'll get an easy A. I transfers to her class midway through the semester and everything went well she's so good.
She's my favorite professor, I've taken her twice already! She is super nice, makes her lectures interesting and fun to watch. She cares for her students, tells us fun stories about her life, and gives great feedback for her work. She's super understandable & knows we aren't Ted talk speakers. I loved and enjoyed her classes! Just show interest:)
I LOVED Carie! She's one of the best professor's I've ever had. Her class was super easy. As long as you do the work and she sees your efforts, you'll easily pass. She explains the assignments if you have any questions, she communicates with the class on deadlines, and she's just super funny and real. I would take her class a million times over.
BEST PROFESSOR AT UTA! Absolutely love Prof Kapellusch. Had 5 speeches, she walks you through everything, grades super well. As long as she sees improvement, you'll do just fine. Don't be scared to take public speaking, she really explains everything you need and makes sure her students are prepared.
I know taking a public speaking course sounds terrifying but Professor Carie made the class enjoyable & gives outstanding feedback. What she truly grades you on is your improvement! :D I know this course is required but I am so glad I ended up having Professor Carie as my instructor for this course!!
EVERYONE should have to take Bus. Prof. with Carie! I learned way more than I thought I would and she's tough but absolutely fair. Her experience is great but she also knows how to connect the material to each of her students. Take her...I will carry lessons from this class with me forever.
Professor Kapellusch is fantastic! Her lectures were fun and she made the assignments feel like a creative project. Clear instructions and outlines to follow. For speeches, I recommend staying within the time limits and ATTEND class! Read her attendance policy! She gives really good feedback so you can improve in future assignments.
Kapellusch is the GOAT.
Ms Kapellusch has been my favorite teacher at UTA thus far. She has a very extroverted personality, but she is indeed the GOAT. She is always available to talk to, even when it's not school related. If your attendance is good, and you read her feedback on speeches to improve your grade, its an easy A. Definitely would take her class again.
Carie IS THE GOAT. Only she make 8am class so interesting and engaging. She is always giving real word examples that we can apply to our daily lives so it's not just blah blah. That class has many interesting conversations. She is very strict on deadlines and format but she's very helpful with the criteria. Overall awesome lecturer.
Professor Kapellusch is AMAZING. Very sweet individual who truly cares about her students. Work load was light. If you follow instructions closely, you will pass with flying colors. Very funny and her lectures are quite interesting and informative. Around 5 speeches total (I think) with an test final. If you're thinking about taking her, DO IT!
This is just my opinion but I found her to be very frustrating and overly strict, too strict really, I hated having to go to her class every single time, she's not very understanding either
My friends and I both think she gives too much homework, like tons of stuff that doesn't relate to the course material or the book, just stuff to keep you busy, so annoying, don't take if you don't want a heavy course load
you MUST do well on the speeches or your whole grade is ruined, which makes for a bunch of pressure to not mess up, if you hate or are afraid of public speaking, then take a nicer teacher
I don't understand the negative reviews. Prof. Kapellusch does not use a textbook in any of her classes, and she does not assign "homework". She's incredibly kind, funny, understanding, interesting, and I learn new things all the time.
ANY hate toward Carie is crazy. Best human I know! I still use the information I learned in her class, and I graduated!! I still use the resume I learned in her class and the elevator pitch is the most useful assignment I had in my entire time at UTA. Seriously, the negative stuff hurts my heart. Couldn't be farther from the truth.
Y'all are talking crazy on my mom for real. Do the work and show up to class. No textbook, No homework. You get notice IN ADVANCE and get class time to do work. She gives you templates the whole way through. Edit the template with exactly what she wants. Don't? Then Fail. If you failed her class that's on you. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Okay, I do not know what these other reviews are about! I took her Communication 2305 class, and that was the best decision I have ever made. If I could only have her for the rest of my classes, I truly would. She is an honest, easygoing, and direct professor. The workload, in my opinion, was always for your benefit and prepared you for the future.
LOVE THIS LADY! TAKE HER CLASS! She never assigns something that won't be useful to your future and genuinely cares about each student. Show up to class and fill in the templates that she provides for every assignment and there's no reason you won't get an A. Her lectures are very engaging (even @ 8am). I don't think a class will ever top this one!
Best professor I've had in all my time at UTA! I took this class to fulfill a coms course but, she teaches in a way that actually makes you engaged to learn. She gives detailed rubrics on every assignment so its easy to get a good grade, but if you email her, she is very flexible and actually caring towards all of her students!
Pretty easy course, attendance mandatory, caring, can be a tough grader
Honestly one of the best professors at UTA. I was in her 6PM class so it was a little all over the place due to scheduling, but literally as long as you participate you will be golden. This class improved my confidence and my ability to create informative projects. She gives clear feedback and is easy to talk to
A large part of this class's grade is speeches, which makes sense because it is a public speaking class. She gives her students all the tools needed to excel and all it takes to get an A is to listen and follow the guidelines. She will give notes on your outfits for your speeches but they are not worth a grade and it is good (and relevant) advice.
Very funny and kind teacher who genuinely cares about her students. Speech heavy but obviously because it's a speech class. She said a quote that stuck with me for the whole semester, we grow at the speed of pain.
The speeches are what made up most of the grade (which is to be expected). She's an amazing teacher and really cares about her students. Very funny, and her lectures are very useful when it comes to learning skills that can be used outside of class. She's also very lieneant when it comes to attendance (just make sure to have any unexcuse speeches).
