good teacher, curve you can bank on!
Killer quizzes and exams, but the curve is unbelievable!
Tough tests and quizes, curves more than a baseball pitcher!
Need to use lube for quizzes, but the curve makes up for it, better than Doc Mac
Needs to make notes on proj. READABLE! Curve = sqrt(grade) * 10
nice to give you the notes, lecture can be rough...ask questions, big curves
Class Average for Quizzes is a 42 which curves to an 85.
CS major in Chem major class...class stressed me out, but curve made it better
Tests on irrevelant material and uses quizzes as a teaching tool. No possible way to get anything above a 90, even if you work hard. I would say pass on this one if at all possible.
Quizzes are killer, but so is the curve.
Had Carl for P-chem and O-chem lec/lab. The class is fairly dry. E-mails you the notes. Doesn't mark down for absences. Curves like a CHAMP! Take him for ALL chem classes if you can!

Hands out good notes, tests kinda hard, but hes cribable

Carl is an awesome guy. The tests and quizzes are harder than an armadillo ass but the curve is like a tsunami!
Cribable, nice guy, pay attention during lecture and curve helps everyone. a 50% passes
cribs are dead on... he doesnt really do much explaining.. he sends u the notes and reads them in class.. his curve is the square root of ur grade times 10.. if u fail ur an idiot
Class is okay, pre-lab qizzes are a killer. Grades on an awesome curve, but he is kind of a jerk, if you don't know what you are doing. If you know chem like the back of your hand, you'll be fine. If not, prepare for rudeness!
Have Arononson for Lecture and Lab. Awesome teacher, who really knows his stuff, and is a really nice guy. Tests are all mult. choice, with ample extra credit. Not easy, but you will learn.
Very cool, likes to make fun of flint. Easy to get along with, will help you out a lot on the lab. Quizzes are hard, but he has a good curve. The quizzes really prepared you for the Mid-Term. Take him if you are not stupid and can learn at a normal pace.
Doesnt teach worth squat!!
Sends you his notes and puts them on a projector in class, easily distracted by students, doesn't teach, you must teach yourself in this class. If he didn't have a curve and extra-credit questions on the test, everyone would fail (except chem geniouss)
The matieral is hard in this class, but it should be I think if you want to really learn anything. He types up his notes, so it isn't like you have guess what he is going to test you on, and you don't have to worry if you miss class.
Easy teacher. Nice guy. Can't teach worth anything, but very easy to crib. Enjoy Crazy Curving Carl because if you should get a 65, you will end up getting an 85. Thank God for the curve.
Reads notes straight off the projector and doesn't explain them. When you ask him a question he doesn't explain the anwer. He gets frustrated with the class if we don't understand something. Overall he is a terrible teacher.
isnt helpful... reads scan trons.... havent seen him pick up a piece of chalk all year
He is a tuff teacher but he knows the material and you can learn a lot from him.
He is smart but can not teach... do not take him!
HAS AN AWESOME CURVE!!!!!!! but he doesn't explain things very well. Reads directly off the overheads (which he e-mails to everyone). Read the book, do the "suggested" problems and you shouldnt have much trouble.
Its a shame that none of his PhD's are in teaching.. Dont take him, unless you want to learn from the book
People who are stupid and fail classes shouldn't be allowed on this site. Lab is easy and very straightfoward. Will help you if you need it. Quizzes are easy and any idiot can pass them if you at least look at the lab.
CAN'T TEACH
Watch out for him. He jokes a whole lot and lectures forever. Seems very simple at first, but his tests are quite difficult. Good News though, he has an immense curve on every assignment. Only 5 grades though so study hard on each test.
Goes quickly through material but has an awesome curve.
Never touches the chalkboard- you have to learn everything yourself. He curves like a (insert random profanity here) though so its not too bad.
nice guy, but he can't teach for anything. He does have a great curve and is extremly cribable. Going to class was a waste of time b/c I'd just leave more confused. Only take if you already know the material or get ready to teach yourself everything.
Great guy, but a horrendous teacher. It's obvious that his doctorate is in chemistry and not teaching. Absolutely no point to going to his class, just study cribs and read the book. When you ask a question, he either insinuates that you're a moron or rephrases it into something completely different.
great guy, worst teacher, ccant be described any other way. Study cribs, maybe read book a little, class... dont bother, you will not learn anything. Aronson is a chemist, not a teacher, any valid questions will be turned around on you into a personal insult. easier than other frosh profs...
Teaching is certainly not his forte, but he is by no means a bad guy. Cribs are essential to this class. You'd do yourself a favor spending time on his nomenclature program. Very fair curve!
easy, gives tons of extra credit
Gives almost too much extra credit. Talks so fast in class it's sometimes easier just to read the book and stop listening.

His tests have a wicked curve but if you don't study you will still FAIL.
Prof. Aronson is one of the nicest profs there is. His tests are relativly hard, but get a crib and you'll ace, plus he has a wicked curve. He's not so easy to listen to in class, but he genuinly cares and will help if you need it.
Good personality, fun to talk to
He is a great prof. and has a great curve. Sometimes things arn't clear but he is willing to help.
He is a really nice proffesor, but kind of strays off topic a lot. However he is really helpful when you ask.
Very willing to help, although can get rather longwinded.

what ever you do, dont eat in front of him!! he gets upset if you dont share your snack. weird guy but easy.
He teaches really well even though most people just ride the curve in his class. you cannot fail unless you dont show up for the test. I even showed up 2 hours late for the final and he still let me take it. Nice prof take him!
was too focused on plastics and was unable to tachus the other things that guest sub profs expected us to know
awesome prof did no work whatsoever and got a 98 wag he curves a lot and then gives extra credit on top of that best prof other than possibly bell to have for freshman chem
Gives good examples and tries to encourage students to learn the material by giving you an idea of what it means in a real world situation, but most students just ride his awesome curve all the way through. A guaranteed eighty something in the class.
Obviously very knowledgeable, but needs to focus on concepts and not memorization. Spent too much time on electron configurations. I would take him, but ask as many conceptual questions as you can to keep him thinking.
Memorization is key to the class, cribs also help.. well they bascially are the entire class.. you'd be lost without them. Super easy to get off on tangents, study the book rather then notes, he makes many errors on notes. And exams he's very well known for making errors, when you know the material from teaching yourself, you'll notice his errors.
This guy really know his stuff. The problem is that he doesn't know how to teach it. If you read the notes that he e-mails you there's really no point in going to class. I don't think I learned anything, and I still came out with a 90something
nice guy and knows his subject well, the problem is a lot of the information is lost because of either poor verbal explanation or the diagrams and visuals for this class are impossible. I spent 90% of lectures trying to decypher what the heck was on the overhead or trying to make sense of what hes talking about as he zips through lecture.
hopefully you don't ever need his help in lab... beacuse you won't get it. only take him if you have a good grasp on chemistry.
Few actual teaching skills. Pretty tough quizzes. Avoid if at all possible.
BORING! I zoned out every class, that is when I attended class. Get cribs memorize them, make sure you get more than one crib, some have questions that say what is the most another will have what is the least. We got him to let us use a crib on the final, it was great! Take him because he is EASY! You really don't need to go to class...
Hardest tests I have ever taken. HARD teacher. Really sweet curve. If he likes you you'll get a good grade, but make sure you study or he'll screw you.
Nice guy, knows his subject. I found it hard to understand the outline on his overhead. It was not clear. By spending the time decipering the overhead, was not understanding much of what he was saying. Book is helpful.
This guy is easily one of the worst teachers at Kettering. He is right up there with "Doc Mac" on the uselessness of both lecture and lab. Both of these profs taught nothing to the class and went off on tangents as if they were getting paid for it. AVOID THIS PROFESSOR
Great guy, can't teach. He knows what he is talking about, he just can't get his point accross. He seems to expect everyone to understand his notes immediately. Basically a self taught-class. Fairly hard quizes, no homework, interesting classes when not talking about chemistry.
Taught straight off notes. Bring laptop to class, gives you something to do. SWEET curve, 49% is passing. Nice guy, just can't teach
Very talkative guy, instead of just reading his notes off, he tries to make it a conversation with the students. More than willing to help with questions, but does little in-class demonstration of mathematic processes. The practices tests he e-mailed to the class were invaluable.
Not a great explainer. Quizzes are fair and easy if you study. Jokes and talks with students.
He is a nice guy, and he truely likes teaching. He, unlike many chem teachers understands that most of us don't care about chem, so he doesn't act like it is the most imporant subject in the world. But he constantly gets off topic, and waist entire class's talking about usless none chem related topics.
Makes class harder and less interesting than it has to be.
Aronson is sometimes helpful. He does get sarcastic sometimes and likes to crack corny jokes that no one laughs at. I liked having him as my chemistry teacher even though he was extremely boring even at 10:15 a.m. Overall, if you get him don't worry about buying a book or doing the homework. As long as you do the review problems, you'll pass.
He is by far the worst person you can have for Chem lecture. All you do is go through a power point each day. He flys through the material and when you ask for explanation he always gives you a real hard time. Only reason I passed was due to his wicked CURVE
Not a bad teacher at all. Tests are all multiple choice, and he gives you a big review for each one. You don't have to go to class, as he sends you the powerpoints he uses in class to you, though it's a good idea if you have any questions. Can take the hard route explaining, though. Good guy, though.
Aronson is a realy easy teacher, I had him for lab and it was awesome! as long as you know how to have a good time you will pass the classs. I would have him more often for a teacher if i could.
Great guy, hates flint..easy
Don't know how I passed this class. He must have a curve or something.
Class was not easy, as I wasn't able to learn anything. He just read off his power point and really didn't go over anything. Pretty sure I failed every test (which was turned into barely passing by his curve). I'm pretty sure he passed me just because.
Lab was relatively easy to do. Was helpful during the lab, would do portions for you. Let us play with liquid nitrogen on the last day. Not bad for lab at all.
Dr. Aronson liked to joke about how difficult he planned to make the exams, during lectures he would read his slides and answer questions if students had them. His Exams have very few similarities to the 10-15 homework assignments he would assign. Pretty much pick a different professor and if you can't get another professor drop the class.
