he's really nice and likes to explain things so that you can understand them, always more than willing to make it easier on the student.

He's extremely nice and helpful, I found the subject matter of the class to be boring, but if you're interested in biology and science I'm sure you'd enjoy it.

Very good Instructor,must ask questins if you want to know the answer to subjects mentioned.Lectures are outlines of topics,use lecture headings and read those sections in the book to understand material.He gives reviews online,practice probs,at least 100points Ex-credit,worth an exam,to fail you must not study or be really dumb, like bio-01 ppl.

Estrella is a good teacher. Very knowledgeable, and willing to answer any questions. Some of the subject matter was a little confusing, but he was always willing to go over it as many times as needed in order to understand it. Lectures are pwr.point slides that give good illustrations. Make sure you pay attention, or you could miss something.

Bio is a hard class no matter what teacher you get but surprisingly I got an A with him and I did bad in bio in HS. But he explains things very well.

I highly advise everyone to register for his classes. He is extremely helpful. He didn't just go over the outlines, but he made charts on the board and diagrams that really helped on the test. He has outlines posted online, grades posted on snapgrades, and study guides. He's a great teacher

Very nice and helpful professor, if you have a question he explains it well. Some of his lectures (especially his labs) were confusing and you had to teach yourself from the txt book or Dr. Google. His lecture's tests weren't bad if you studied the outline and txt book. His lab practicals were nightmare fuel; be prepared to study a lot for those.

I could go on and on about how great of an instructor he is. Merced college does not have many good professors, so I take advantage of signing up for his classes. He is the only instructor I will take classes with because he's the only one that actually teaches useful information.

By far the best professor I have had. He makes anatomy fun and engaging. You won't find many professors like him who are enthusiastic about the subject they are teaching. I took anatomy in the Summer of 2010 and got an A. But don't expect an easy A, you have to work for it. My advice is to Study, ask questions, and go to both labs if need be.

Professor Estrella is amazing! Understanding, always willing to help. Class is not for the slacker, he has a passion for the subject that makes you interested as well. I highly recommend.

The BEST professor,hands down. He is extremely intelligent,loves to teach, loves to help. He is very scientifically minded, therefore,has high expectations. Just study hard,extra hard. Only nursing studentsdon't like him. I aced 2 of his classes. My CSU classes was nothing compared to his. I got the most from him in all of my college classes.

I can't believe some of the comments people left about him. I never got that impression at all. He was super helpful. Very nice and funny. I ask questions in class because I have trouble in the subject and he never made me feel stupid. Probably the most skilled professor for his subject at MCC.

I had Estrella for Human Biology and then Human Anatomy in the summer and really enjoyed his personality. He taught in a way you could understand and gave us good studying tips. In class or in lab he was always available to answer questions or set up practice tests for us. The material is difficult without a doubt, make note cards and study a lot!

I took his Human Biology class fall 2013. I had to study a lot. I also took advantage of his office hours where he was more than happy to discuss topics from class. If you want to learn and retain information I highly recommend this professor.

If a person is taking biology for first time well do not blame on the instructor for barely exposing you to the information. Keep up on reading and understanding the whole picture is the only key. Do not pre castinate And passion a love for biology is much needed to learn.

Lectures are easy to follow and understand; he provides power points for students to print out. Assigns little work but expects one to know the info, so read the chapter. Exams are difficult but he gives an online practice exam to give students an idea of what the exam is like. He's very nice and willing to help if you visit him in his office.

Honestly one of the best professors in Merced College. Be ready for some tough love! Wants all of his students to succeed even if it may not seem that way. Very fair and considerate as long as you are dedicated in his class.

Going into this class I was a bit intimidated by the previous reviews left, but overall I really enjoyed the whole experience. I learned a lot! It's not easy, but as long as you organize the material & study, you'll be solid. He's always in his office willing to help. At times he might come off as rude, but he only wants the best for his students.

Estrella is one of the best professors I ever took at Merced College. Taking his summer Anatomy class was challenging but if you put in the work to try to understand the material you'll easily pass the class. He may be intimidating but he's very passionate about what he does.

I did online bio 1 and it was a great class. Show up to your labs and do your online work and you will pass. He is a very nice professor that knows his stuff.

This was a hybrid type of class, lectures were online and labs were in person. He gave us hw that was easy to understand, which really helps balance out your grade because theyre easy points to get. Professor Estrella is not one to spoon-feed material to his students. He finds ways to get you to critically think and wants you to be a better learner! I can honestly say that I am a better student now because of his teaching style. Although the class was challenging, he is always in his office and will help you understand the material.

Professor Estrella is a wonderful and inspirational professor. This class is NOT easy and requires a lot of work and effort, but it was all worth it. I learned so many things that I will take with me to future science classes. His lectures are substantial and give you all the information you need. Estrella is a solid teacher with a clear dedication, there is a plethora of information to absorb between both lab and lecture, and it makes the class very challenging but this will provide you with more than enough to do well. Make sure you participate, and begin working early on. Don't expect much help if you ask, it will be your job to learn.

I loved taking Professor Estrella's biology class. He was a good teacher that instructed fun labs with your partner and was clear on how we could pass the class. There were tests about every 2 weeks that could be difficult but I like that it made me work and study hard.

Taking Prof. Estrella over the summer was difficult but could be done by interacting with classmates. The way to succeed in the class was by being hands-on with the models and learning what each component did. I couldn't see myself passing the course if I studied by myself. Get yourself a group and it'll make it 10x easier.

Professor Estrella is a very great person and he means well for his students. He really wants his students to pass his class and he always suggests different ways of helping you understand the material for that unit. Textbook was provided online at no cost. I enjoyed this class minus old recordings I wish it was more up to date.

Professor Estrella is an amazing professor. Yes his class can be difficult, but enjoy learning, put in the effort and you will do well. If you aren't willing to apply yourself, he isn't for you. If you do, you'll find his class very rewarding.
