This class was supposed to be an easy inroduction course but Sneed is very unclear, unhelpful, and not very understanding. I have to say, along with everyone else in the class, that he is a bad teacher. On the other hand this was his first semester. He knows what he wants but has a hard time letting you know what that is.

If you can avoid taking him,do! His lectures are boring and you're better off reading the book. Labs are just as bad. He is unclear on directions, deadlines and everything else.
Dr. Sneed is a cool dude. He seems a bit nerdy but he's really cool. Yes his class is hard but what stats class isnt. He inst very clear but he tries very hard. if your not a self starter then dont take his class. i think he just needs some more teaching yrs under his belt. But the class really does SUCK
Dr. Sneed is a very serious professor, but he expects one thing from his students and that is that they take there education just as serious. He comes off as a mean teacher, but he really is a nice guy once you get used to him. It took me about 2 weeks to get used to his teaching methods, they are different from other professors I have had.
He is a very nice guy, and a good teacher. He really cares about the students he teaches. You MUST attend class, or you will easily fall behind. This class takes some work, but he will help you if you ask.
needs more experience teaching. Better ways of teaching would help, more outlines on what he is teaching and not just using the powerpoint notes, which dosent work.
He is a great instructor. If you want to learn how to correctly do a research paper take this man. It had been over twenty years since I wrote any type of reseach paper. Dr. Sneed methods of completeing a section by a given date, kept me organized and my paper came together. I really learned a lot.

Dr. Sneed's is the worst professor I had at CSUDH. In lecture, he streams in/out of the teaching subject to brag about himself or make off-colored humor remarks. He displays a patronizing superior attitude towards his students, and treats students like furniture. He's a narcissistic, narrow-minded man who devalues students. Take Santos instead

Dr. Sneed is okay. He can be snotty but he's also funny. You will learn in his classes (PSY 235 & 330) if you put YOUR effort into it! I mean, he's not going to do your work for you!
now this guy is a good teacher but the fisrt day, first week first month your slammed with work. if you have an outside life..u can forget it. his class takes a lot of time. it is advised to take another teacher if you can.
Thinks way too highly of himself. He's black but not and seems a little too friendly w certain students. He is an obnoxious man who likes to share silly comments that no one cares about and can be offensive if u dont have high esteem. He throws tons of work at you but unless he finds you to be one of his favs, he'll go easier on you.
Nice guy, knows his stuff, but zero's in on at least one student in his class which can be creepy...take him if you want lots of work.
He's a good professor if he likes you; if not, you will feel lost. He does make you work and unless you NEED a professor to help you, don't take him. He will tell you to read the book again if you don't understand something. ALSO, he will try to hang with the students in what seems to be his free time which is not only annoying, it is creepy.
took hist social psy class for winter. He even said himself he is a lot nicer in the winter. He wouldn't even recommend himself on regular term. Hard prof, chooses his favs, if you are not one good luck. Did everything he asked but didn't kiss butt got c.

I was really scared to take his class because of all the comments I read, but he is really cool. The people that seem to have problems are mostly students who come to class and are not prepared. I am glad that they are given are hard time because they take class time away from serious students.
class is mandatory. Lectures are exactly a replica of the book so if you read the book and don't go to class you'll be fine. However sometimes his lectures are kind of confussing. Class is based on Test, homework and a research paper that if you don't do you'll receive a F for the entire class no matter what.

Ok...Prof. Sneed is NOT that bad. He's a bit on the corny side, but he IS willing to help you learn. Read the Text/Chapters BEFORE coming to class; lectures are easier that way. Outside of class, he's cool to chat with. Warning!! In class, he doesn't mess around! Follow his rules and read the text & his slides. He is an OK professor to take.
This is the most horrible professor i've had through my college career. Absolutely true in choosing his favs to talk to. He would intimidate you in front of the class. Did a horrible in explaining the materials. I changed my major away from psy. because of this guy. I have such a bad impression and nightmares on psy profs at CSUDH after him.
I can see why so many people don't like him. His jokes are cheesy, the material is hard, and he is very strict about his rules. He'll make a big deal about little things. But it won't kill people to do what he says. It takes A LOT of effort to get good grades. If you prefer taking the easy way out, avoid his class.
I went into Dr. Sneed's class expecting something so different, part of my expectations were based solely on his gradings from this website. Although there is some truth to his lame jokes and the difficulty of his tests, he is an overall decent instructor. He does not offer you answers to your questions, but directs you enough to learn.

This class is not easy, but Dr. Sneed really makes sure everyone understands before he moves on, but if you do not get to practice PASW (SPSS), you will get lost in his class and you for sure would not know how to interpret results. Sneed is no where near as bad as what some of the earlier comments said. I actually found him to be delightfully quirky. This class is without a doubt the toughest class I've had to date however if you take PSY 330 with Sneed and take it seriously your hard work will pay off with a good grade and a substantial amount of valuable knowledge.
Dr. Sneed expects excellence. If you don't want to work then don't take this class. Attendance and being punctual is mandatory. He is very intelligent and shares his knowledge with the class if your actually listening. He is also hilarious.The work is not easy and you must study but the class is doable.
Sneed is honestly the worst professor I've ever had! I understand how some students could love him, because he does has his "favorites", which is ridiculous...I have a gpa of a 3.5, so I'm no stranger to hard work. Sneed is highly unclear, but he thinks hes never wrong. He made everyone not want to ask questions.Never again will i take him!
Don't email him because he won't answer. Don't ask questions in class because he will make you look bad. Don't miss class. Study the book like crazy because that's the only thing that will get you through the class.

This is not a casual class which I like because it weeds out the lazy, "fake", students. Also, regarding the glbt community, I've never had a problem with him. He's a good guy.

i like him as a person but not as a professor. his course is extremely hard and he does have favorites. if he likes you he'll pass you. his classes are mandatory because he will remember your face and if he does your lucky enough to get a C.disliked his TA and missed a couple of times when we had class without telling us he was going to be absent.
I had him for stats and research methods. He's better in methods then stats. BUY the stats book! Its not maditory but it should be. I didnt think he's 1/2 as bad as the prev. comments. He is corny, dont ask him stupid or repetitive ?'s. But he's willing to help if you just ask. He teaches hard classes so he gets a bad rap. I will take him again.
I had Dr. Sneed Fall 2009 and just completed my course work for Psy 235 and Psy 330. Dr. Sneed is a hard Professor but he is about educating. I like Dr. Sneed ( I did not initially). He is actually funny and a concerned Professor. I also took a winter class with him Psy 340 and got an A. Psy 235 and Psy 330 I received the grade that I deserved.
Took Sneed for Psy 340 (A) and 235 (B). He is a good person, funny, caring, and intelligent, but he is not a good instructor. He often gets annoyed when students ask questions. He tries to be tough in an effort to prepare students for grad school but he makes life so much more difficult. Read, study n get outside help and u can be successful.
Dr. Sneed is a tough instructor. He does expect you to be prepared and have the basic stats knowledge. He does know his stuff, but has trouble communicating it. He is approachable and easier to talk to outside of class. I would consider taking another course with him now that I know how to approach his class.

sneed is not the best teacher. he may know his stuff but when it comes to teaching others he is not good at all. he handed us papers and expected us to do the work on our own he was there for questions but it was not the same has having someone explain it to you. THE TEST ARE HARED
Everyone should avoid this teacher at all costs! He is the worst teacher I've ever had. He never responds to emails, stopped teaching completely halfway throughout the semester, doesn't even look over his assignments when giving them to us so when we do them and try to check our answers, he says he doesn't know because he hasn't looked over it.
Do NOT I repeat do NOT take this class with Sneed. You'll feel worthless he'll convince you that you don't know anything. Has trouble communicating with students, doesn't grade homework and is makes snide and rude comments when students have questions. Just avoid him
Loved Dr. Sneed. He's not rude, just blunt and straight to the point. I thought his lectures were very easy to follow and I enjoyed his class.
Sneed is honestly the worst and most unapproachable professor I have ever had. I have perfect attendance in all my courses except for his because I can't stand his teaching style that much. The psyc department should really get rid of him. google his name and you'll find horror stories from students he taught at UCLA as well.
This guy...He isnt a good teacher. His lectures are easy. But he doesnt like writing things down so most instructions are given verbally. He's unapproachable and he has never answered my emails. I really loved stats before I got into his class, from the first day my interest for it was shot down. He was not only hard to understand, I felt his lectures were waste of my time. They're not even worth being called lectures. He's too focused on his research to care about teaching. His tests are based on SPSS output. Does not help on review day.
Just go to class and be cool with him, he will be cool with you. Kinda seems intimidating but really he's not.
Often goes on a tangent during lecture. He has a good sense of humor but other than that his exams are tricky, complicates what were trying to learn and expects you to be a subject matter expert before taking his class. I would recommend if you already know the material but if your trying to learn, you better avoid him!
Avoid him at all costs. I thought taking him online would be better after reading the previous rates but OMG! I have never been so frustrated and just angry with a class before, and I currently have 3.6 GPA, working on my last semester it will probably be delayed due to this class. I cannot even put into words how agitating his class is. Good Luck
His online class was very confusing when it came to how he grades (points per assignment), overall class grade and due dates. A couple studies complained on discussion board but he only stated to refer to the announcements which was part of the problem because they didn't correspond with his syllabus. As long as you do the work you should get an A.
Guys, I am going to be honest. This guy is the only intermediate stats teacher at times and if that is the case, you are in big trouble. It is almost shocking how this man is a professor with the way that he teaches. He won't answer questions unless he has a condescending remark beforehand and he makes simple things horribly difficult.
He's a really nice guy,I like his teaching. He guides student to study and to find what we need. No time to be relaxed during the semester except the spring break because he gives us something to do.
Intermediate stats is a tough subject to begin with and he basically expects you to figure it out on your own. I took him online which wasn't that bad, but my classmates and I had to rely on each other to do the assignments. Without each other we all would've BARELY passed the class.
This guy is NOT CLEAR AT ALL! Its already a difficult class, but with him its even harder. I pretty much have to teach myself. Like its ridiculous.
If you are currently in this class good luck to you! If you are not then I suggest taking it online or during winter. It is a very confusing class and not because its Stats, but because he is not clear. Expect to do very well in your first exam 100% but the exams to come will be tough and impossible. You won't get an A in the class thats for sure.

Sneed has a sarcastic yet funny sense of humor, but he is a BAD professor. We've received not ONE study guide on the 2 exams we've had in his class. The final he said has to be memorized, so that means 11 chap. of material memorized without a study guide. He's making ppl throw their money down the drain & thinks it's funny smh - bye bye gpa
Horrible teacher. In the beginning of the semester all he discussed was his score on rate my professor, that's his only care, rather than helping his students pass his class. The homework does not help with any of the quizzes or test that are given. He has high expectations but his teaching skills suck. you're just asking to fail and hurt your GPA.
Beginning class, the first thing he said was that his reviews on here were not true. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he rarely answers questions instead saying ask a partner, you'll confuse other people, you answer it, or I just said that. He didn't like going in depth; you have to be able to teach yourself to pass this class.

This is the first time I actually started understanding statistics. His explanations are clear, and they make sense. Sure, he has high expectations, and you will have to work hard , but ultimately it's for your own benefit. I am confident now in my ability to read statistical outputs, which used to look Chineese before. Oh and he is very funny too.

Expect to fail, First test of the semester and over half the students failed. Do not expect anything but confusion sarcasm and very blunt answers. He expects verbatim answers on homework and test. To give you an idea of his teaching ideas he felt clarity of instruction should be removed from the pte because he feels clarity is up to the student.
This professor didm't even have a syllabus for us!!! He just took things day by day so we had no idea when things were due or a grading scale. His grades are made up of homework, a midterm and final. Im only in week 2 of his class and its unbearable. I want to cry. stats its easy but his assighnments are all over the place too wordy , so picky. cant wait till this class is over. we need more stats teachers at csudh
please buy a laptop that works very good. clean up space on your comp because you will get mass amount of docs to teach you what you need to know. Dont ask too much questions he seems annoyed. Be prepared to be confused by all the tutorials and do it yourself guides he expects you to read given to you all at once along with the text readings.

What a nightmare. The class itself is not difficult but dealing with him was the hardest part. Join a study group and commit your life to this class and you'll pass. He's rude and very condescending so try and hold tongue.

Very unclear and unhelpful. Doesn't respond, or if he does, refers you to textbook but not any specific place, so you don't actually know what he is referring to. Grading criteria unclear and requirements for assignments would differ for each one. Nearly impossible to plan ahead on some assignments because there was no schedule.
Be prepared to teach yourself because you will get piled by a ton of SPSS assignments and chapter summaries within one week. Also your grade is based on the exams since his grading is a joke, personally. Also if you don't understand anything, find someone who truly understands it and stick with them because that is your miracle to pass his class.

Stay away from his class! Refers you to each other. Doesnt teach anything. Refers you to YouTube video. Makes up random questions for the exam that have nothing to do with the study questions. Do yourself a favor take this class with someone else or take it alone and prepare to be taught on your own.
There was not a lot of homework but it requires a lot of time to get done. All the assignments and tests were online. he has high expectations so be prepapred to work hard.
Sneed is rude and unprofessional. This man degrades and belittles anyone who asks a question and will not answer it. His response is to find out for yourself or ask someone else... All hw is SPSS assignments. You will have to learn and navigate SPSS for yourself because he does not teach SPSS in class or allow laptops. Worst professor ever.
Took Sneed for winter session & man was it intense. Although I passed the class I wouldn't recommend. It was a lot of work. If you don't work or have kids & just go to school then you should be fine but if you have many outside responsibilities this is not the class for you. YOU WILL have to work for your grade. Expects you to know and understand SPSS like the ABCs, and doesn't allow tablets or computers. Refers questions to youtube videos and bad notes. His grading system is a joke, and expects answers to be written his way with VERY LITTLE room for error. Find a study group and study hard. You will be studying for this class way more than any other class

Experiencing a semester with Sneed will make you a better student because any professor after him will seem easy. You pretty much teach yourself. Get into a study group ASAP. He is rude, inconsiderate and unhelpful.
I took this class and he did not help me at all. How I tried to pass his class was we made study group for the exam. He told us to read the book and do assignments that had barely anything to do with the exam. Several other students reported him and little action was taken. He does not prepare u for the test. (I took this class fall 2020).
Took over the winter. 1 exam, about 3-6 discussion posts, and a 700 word summary (almost 2 pgs) on every chapter, so about 16? you don't need to purchase a textbook, he provides a PDF. Class is easy if you read and do the work, you can finish fairly ahead of the end of the session.
Dr sneed is a very smart man but he's not for everyone. I believe he thinks the textbook is the answer to our questions, but the book is hard to understand if your not math savvy. He did help students who were failing with providing E.C. He held reviews for the homework. There was no final study guide provided so make sure you understand the work.
if you keep up and read the textbook, then you will be fine but he gives you a lot of busy work. you have to read each chapter and give a 500 word summary for the chapter-- no lectures, no zoom, no videos (that he himself records). you will learn nothing if you learn well with real class interaction. tragic.
RUN FAR AWAY. Im in his statistics class rn and I cannot stand him. He complained rate my professor isnt "accurate", I think he's upset students can discuss how awful he is. 500-word chapter summaries with a 10% overlap. It's nearly impossible when math terms are going to be similar because it's MATH. He is no help and has no recorded lectures.
Professor is too busy to pay attention to this course. No feedback/lectures, doesn't grade assignments, literally got my midterm grade 1 day before the final was due. He does provide exam keys, but his wording is hard to understand. You learn from the textbook, and spss assignments he provides answers to and are only worth 1 point + ch. summaries.
Avoid taking this class if you can! There are lots of assignments worth 1 point (mostly homework) that is extremely stressful. He is a tough grader as well. Not worth the stress.
I took PSY330 for the summer and it was the worst decision ever! Not only does Dr. Sneed give lots of homework, but they are worth 1 point each and it is tideous! DO NOT take him!

Absolutely do NOT take this man's class. There are no video lectures, his instructions are unclear, and he wants you to basically teach yourself. He told my classmate that the scores our Canvas do not reflect our actual grade which makes no sense. Horrible and no help at all.
Professor Sneed is not the best professor. That being said, you CAN pass this class. The other reviews are not lying. The class work consists of 500 word chapter summaries, which are difficult to do because the textbook is hard to read. His instructions are unclear and tedious, but he basically gives you the answers so just follow the steps.
Carl Sneed is a nightmare of a human. He is beyond disrespectful and does not care about the students. You will be treated as a burden in his course. I had to challenge him many times during the semester. Tell him you're coming into office hours in person he'll likely side with you to avoid human contact. If you understand stats you'll be ok.
2 exams that make up your whole grade. Chapter summaries that are pointless. He is very disrespectful and has attitude. He is NO help. Blames students. Not fair. Exams are different from the homework and have no relation. SPSS has nothing to do with the exams. Rarely responds to emails. I had to email him 3 times just to be told "no". Just terrible
The class consisted of assignments, summaries, one midterm, and a final exam. The assignments were easy as he would give you the steps. However, the 500-word summaries were stressful since he'd change the requirements each week and scrutinize each detail. His midterm and final exams were difficult, so make sure to print everything he gives you.
This professor is the worse one by far at this school. He is rude in responses and that is surprising since he is literally the head chair of psy department at CSUDH. Avoid this class if possible. The assignments are tedious with little guidance, and the exams are extremely challenging. Utilize unstuck AI and study groups to survive this course. The professor is not very helpful, so you'll need to be self-motivated.
I'm half way through and I wish I would've listened to the other reviews. This is the first time I've had a professor so unhelpful that I felt like leaving a review. You're teaching yourself for this course. When he noticed a lot of mistakes made in the homework because of his vague instructions he blamed the students. His feedback was also vague.
In my years at Dominguez, I can confidently say that this is the worst teacher I have ever taken. His assignments are tedious and worth almost no credit, while the tests accounted for the entire grade. The course will have you teaching yourself and vague feedback is given when you ask. He does all he can to be as unhelpful as possible.
The assignment instruction is extremely unclear, and when you reach out to try and get clarification, he just says to reread the instruction on the post I didn't understand. Not to mention his responses are curt and condescending. I am disappointed in this school's selection of professors. NOT worth the tuition I pay.
