Don't listen to these other comments that are negative. This guy knows his stuff, he just does not know how to teach. Do your work on time, take notes, study like you are supposed to and you will do fine. I walked away with an A and it was EASY. Bring your laptop to class so you don't fall asleep.
I really enjoyed this class. He was a really good and helpful teacher, just boring at times. You can use your notes on quizes and his tests comes straight from the study guides he gives. With some studying and actually going to class you should do fine. I ended up with an A.
The first 3 ratings on him are incredibly inaccurate. Snook knows his stuff, but he is extremely monotone and boring. He looks like Peter Griffin and he makes some dry jokes sometimes and laughs at them. He is a nice guy and does not make the class difficult. If you are not lazy, come to class, take notes and study it is so easy. I got an A.
Good Prof. He's a nice guy who knows his stuff and is willing to work with students to make sure they get what they need out of his classes. Class can seem haphazard sometimes, but really by the end of the semester, you have the information that the class was meant to give you.
Professor Snook is an awesome professor and the most down to earth professor in the department. His background is in statistics so he likes to uses graphs and numbers and always is well versed on current events. His projects can be rather lengthy but they are always current and allow the student to express their own thoughts. Great Professor.
Certainly enjoyed his class! Great proffessor and interesting class. One word of advice... dont get behind on your term paper!
Professor Snook tries to make this class interesting, but the material as a whole is dry. Quizzes are open notes and are mainly vocab-related. Midterm and final exams are pretty basic multiple choice. The term paper is a rather significant part of the grade, but you don't have to write one if you take this class over the summer.
I had this professor for POLS 1101 and some hints: Don't buy the book if you can get the vocab online or from a friend. Boring teacher. Has vocab quizzes. Class is not mandatory, but go to it because he gives out some quiz/tests answers. One midterm and final. One boring 7 page pager. gives you review sheet. Easy class just don't get lazy.
Great professor. Obviously passionate about the material he teaches. Not outwardly liberal like many other professors. Obfuscates his conservative beliefs, which is unfortunate. Definitely recommend taking over the summer.
The guy is a very very reasonable teacher and great communicator. He doesn't really make eye contact with the class while teaching, none the less his lectures are clear and his view points are rational and practical. He's a bit of a jokester too. Go to class and get the book(s) as all the quiz material is from the readings and notes.
Snook is a good guy and teacher all around! He talks about current topic and makes class enjoyable, rather than droning on. He jokes around and is very helpful if a student has a problem or is not understand the course work.
I have him for government now and he's too bad. He's extremely knowledgeable on the topic and also very passionate. He kinda goes off topic most classes, but he does get through the material. Quizzes are every other Friday and you don't go to class on those days. They're 10 mult. choice questions from the notes. Take notes, you'll be fine.
Do not take this moron for American Government. He assigns way more work than what is required for the course and has zero office hours. He doesn't feel the cause of the student and announces tests very last minute. Talks to you as if you know the same stuff he does and expects you to deliver like a graduate student in return...
He's very sarcastic and funny. His lectures are serious and he makes them interesting. You do have a LOT of reading and you need to read to pass the tests. Also you have discussions due every two weeks. He's a pretty good teacher overall.
way too much reading for a gen ed the class is not mandatory but he punishes those who do not show up and gets mad when you leave early. lectures are so boring its hard to even learn, bright side is he posts everything online. test arent tricky but you must know and understand the material which is hard learn with his "teaching"
He gives a lot of busy work so expect to always be working on something for him. He makes you buy the books and jokes about defacing them so they're non-returnable. You'll do a book report, discussion posts, and a few tests. Would not take again. Far too much for a gen ed.
Prof Snook is nice and you can tell he enjoys what he does. He really wants his students to be engaged and gets upset when they arent, but his lectures are long and dry. I stopped going to class bc it was too hard to pay attention, but I still got decent grades. All tests online, one book report, a quiz or 2. Its pretty easy. Lots of books to buy.
Attendance is not mandatory, but he often gives class assignments to benefit those who attend class. The papers are moderate, but through the course of the semester he continuously changes requirements (so attendance helps). The tests are online, but tough. You are allowed to use notes, but many times the notes are inconsistent with the questions.
We had a LOT of online tests. Pay attention to the windows that they are open. He was kind enough to open up a midterm that I missed, but this is rare and not to be expected.
Prof snook's class was difficult, point blank. He lectures assuming you already know everything about government, voting, and politics so it's hard to follow him or stay engaged. He's funny though, and obviously loves what he does, which is a plus! Books are necessary to pass tests but you never use them in class.
Super nice Professor, but his lectures are very boring and repetitive. he basically just keeps you in class for no reason apart from just to hear him speak. Super easy grades though, I got an A on almost everything he graded, and he's very lenient about tests and homework.
Bruh. There's a 20 page paper due at the end of the semester that was not well planned for. Other research courses slowly build on the amount of pages, but he only checks 5 pages and then the other 15 are due at the end of the semester. Not fun. AT ALL. I wish he assigned an annotated bibliography, something you can actually USE when writing
he expects you to know everything already; lectures are boring & he can be really condescending if you ask a question. difficult online tests. book report due at end of semester. he's very rude and never responds to emails. if you have a question, you might as well ask a classmate or you won't receive an answer. basically, avoid him at all costs.
Prof Snook started the course telling us it would be a conversational class, but that was the biggest joke of them all. I feel like his lectures are just to hear himself talk. He doesn't even really teach, but expects you to get all info from text, and tests from info in text. Papers are graded quickly and without my thought in my opinion.
Can be a tough grader on the essays, but it is more because he has high expectations for what he wants. Does give high grades for well constructed and thoroughly thought out papers. Lectures can be extremely boring.
Grades on a point scale where its split into online quizzes (1/4), discussions (drops lowest one - 1/4), one paper (1/4), and the final exam (1/4). Doesn't make attendance mandatory but if you go he may reward you. Lectures are often boring and often hard to sit through, but his humor can keep you engaged occasionally. Tough paper criteria s well.
One of the worst schooling experiences I've ever had. Ever. For a professor teaching about political science, I felt more like I was listening to his own opinions rather than facts. And he makes the class BORING. If another professor is available, do what you can to avoid him.
Great professor if you actually are interested in political science and want to learn. Assigns a lot of work, but is an extremely easy grader. He is a super nice guy and wants everyone in the class to succeed. 2 papers, 10 online discussions, 4 online quizzes and a final. There is a good bit of reading but it's all interesting. Take him!
Professor Snook is light hearted and easy going. You'll write papers and have a few quizzes with an optional final. He's a very good grader and is more worried about giving you feedback to learn with as long as you cover the points he wants, not out to get you with grading. Participation and going to class help but the roll came around rarely.
Do not take this class he lectures more than anything else. You basically fail the class the whole semester until the last paper and it doesn't matter if you wrote a full 3 page paper you can fail it just for forgetting in text citations and if you fail it you fail the class no matter how good your grades were the whole semester.
He was okay. He talks a lot and tends to get off topic. Lectures were boring but his quizzes/ tests were very lecture based. Pay attention and do the assignments and you'll be fine.
Dr. Snook is the most condescending prof I've ever had. His "feedback" wasn't really helpful and was more insulting. He also makes people feel inferior for not agreeing with his views on topics. The discussions are the best part of the class. I probably learned more from the discussions than from sitting through his lectures
This guy was great. He had reviews before every test. Tests are online. Makes fun of politicians all the time. Pro Tip: know the key terms in the book, and you'll be set. At first the class seems hard, but he grades kind of easy.
At first I thought I wasn't going to pass this class, but with help of your class mates and basically DO the research paper! and the four exam and discussion and essay you will pass. JUST DO THE WORK. The research paper is not hard and he doesnt grade hard on it, as long as you have your work citation and the paper is in the right format.
This professor gives many boring lectures. The class is an easy A. All 10 online quizzes and 10 online discussions. Midterm is online and he gives a heavy review before it.
A very boring lecturer. 10 Discussions and quizzes a paper, midterm and final. Everything done online
He's only been teaching in college for about two years so he's still learning. He has no idea how to talk in front of people - he mostly stares at the back wall or ceiling. If you know the key terms and pay attention to the lectures, you should be fine. Attendance isn't mandatory, but it helps because he talks about the quizzes.
As long as you skim the textbook and take notes while also studying the slides given, you should receive and A. 10 discussion posts and 10 quizzes with a midterm and final online. He also assigns a final paper at the beginning of the semester. Very boring lectures but is an easy A/B+ Go to class often and hell reward you with extra credit.
I personally loved Professor Snook. Although his lectures can be a bit boring and he seems to just talk, his humor lightens the mood. 10 quizzes, 10 discussion posts, a midterm & final and a 3 page paper, all which are online and easy. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he does help with quizzes if you go, and gives extra credit sometimes as well.
I took Professor Snook's online class. He uploaded his lectures online, which were very boring. He provided slides for the material covered in the chapters, which helped as a good summary. Quizzes weren't too hard. The "big" essay isn't that big, and actually seems pretty decent. Overall, easy class.
Great Teacher, and extremely caring I could not comment enough praises for this man. will work with you and your schedule he truly cares about his students and their grades.
This class was an easy A. No test, besides your midterm and final. 10 Discussions post and 10 quizzes. I would suggest getting the textbook because some questions on the quizzes will ask for the books definition of a word. Come to class, even tho he is really boring, he is a petty attendance taker.
He is a great teacher, boring at times but still good. Come to class cause he will take attendance for extra credit points if he sees a good bit of the class not there. Dont take a quiz before he reviews. Wait till he reviews for quizzes because he will give you the answers basically. Midterm was questions from the quizzes
I am awful at Government stuff, but this was the easiest class ever. Can be boring at times, but tests and quizzes are open notes and online. If you go to class the day before the quiz he tells you what will be on it. Great teacher!
Lots of reading. Nothing too difficult. Clear material and he's a nice guy.
This was the easiest class I could ever take. I never paid attention to his lectures and people even stopped showing up to his class and we all still received an A. Everything's online that means you quizzes, midterm, and Final. I never read the book once. Tho he does blab on and on about some unrelated stuff. You don't need alot of effort here.
Terrible. Rambles on in class about nothing. Class is so boring and pointless, yet mandatory. He never gave clear instructions on assignments and is often very condescending when asked question. Save yourself frustration and don't take this class
If you want to make an A or even in a B in an easy class, this is not it. His discussions are fairly easy but he makes the chapter quizzes, current event quizzes AND the discussion posts all due on the same day. His lectures somewhat have nothing to do with the quizzes and her encourages searching up answers but even that is impossible.
He focuses so much on cheating that is has a negative effect on your grade. For his test, once you leave a page you cant go back to it. The class should be easy but he makes the material way harder than it should be. Discussion posts and 2 quizzes are all do on the same day.
Its an easy A you dont need the book so dont waste your money. I have only looked at the book a few times. You need to go to class because he takes attendance sparingly, you need to be up to date with the news because your quizzes will suffer. You also need to know the material because those quizzes are on point.
He's is okay. Lectures are boring, but the class is really easy. All the tests and quizzes are online so its super easy to do well on them.
Dr. Snook was pretty okay. Not the most exciting lectures, and some analogies used while teaching didn't really land. The quizzes and tests are easy so long as you have the book. He requires you to keep up to date on world news though, as well as discussions, which gets tedious after a while. Overall 6/10. Not bad. Not great.
Meh. Not a great professor, not the worst one I've ever had. Lots of online work. Long, boring lectures. Makes a lot of harsh, unsupported declarations, espcially about how crappy our generation is.
It is a Methods class. That being said, there will be a substantial paper. Secondly the paper is broken into chunks and well explained, so if you use your time wisely, it will feel less like a 15 page paper and more like three 5 page papers. Be prepared to write and challenge yourself and show up to class! Follow the rubric! Cheers!
He's a good professor objectively. I had a difficult time because I found his voice boring therefore couldn't pay attention well. You don't need to go to every class - go some. He only takes attendance half the time and all the slides get posted online. Tests are all online. (I took hybrid course)
You will have a discussion question every 1-1/2 to 2 weeks dues. He did current event quizzes and these were an easy A. He also has a quiz after 2-3 chapters in each book. His questions on the quizzes, midterm, and final can be somewhat tricky so you really need to understand what you're learning in order to do well.
Hardest part was regression but to be fair we were moved to online so he couldn't really teach it. The research paper is 12-15 pgs & 25% but it's easy to do well if you listen to his feedback (got a 98). 2 pgs are due 1st, then 6, then 4 so it isn't all at once. My lowest grade was an 88 on a video assignment (easy btw) and he gives good feedback
Chapter quizzes, current events, discussion posts, a paper, and two exams. He takes random attendance. I took his hybrid course. Overall not bad.
He his a very relaxed guy all the quiz can be found on google and the current event quizzes are very mainstream questions. The final and the quiz can be a little challenging but from a guy that never did anything but the discussion post and quizzes, it should be an easy A for anyone who studies. All the quizzes and test are online and not lockdown.
As long as you take notes on the lectures & pay attention you'll be fine. The only thing is, pretty much every assignment is a quiz. Every two weeks we have a discussion, current events quiz, & quiz. They're easy if you study. Professor Snook is really calm & kind. He really enjoys the topics he's teaching, which makes the class better.
The class consits of eight modules, a midterm, and a final exam. The modules have a discussion, a quiz, and current events quiz. He gives you two weeks to complete each module which for me is plenty of time. If you know the key terms for each chapter in the textbook this class should be an easy A.
I took this class online my fall semester as a freshman. He required a textbook but I dont recommend you get it because I opened it probably twice. You get 2 weeks to complete a module (pp notes, current event, discussions and quiz). Really easy class if you do what you have to do but hes very boring. No extra credit opportunity except for one.
There isnt much to this class other than two quizzes and a discussion board every week. A lockdown browser isnt required, and theres no point buying a textbook when the lectures posted every week cover the material on the quiz. I wonder why this class costs money when its essentially a YouTube video and textbook notes every week.
prof. snook's class wasn't difficult, though (imo) poorly laid out. majority of his quizzes were only 5 questions, making it easy to fail. the textbook is listed as required, though i never opened it and still pulled a B in the course. if you are someone who is interested in polisci, you will enjoy his class.
Take him online!!! He was very clear up front of the assignments. No lockdown browser, but read the slides. His information is much more helpful. Every other week there was a quiz, discussion, and a current events quiz. DO THE CURRENT EVENTS ASAP. As long as you do the discussion, you will get a 100.
We have a literature review do as a final however you build up it all semester so the class itself is NOT difficult. However, he doesn't give good feedback, his assignment sheet and PowerPoints contradict themselves. He is rude. Class isn't mandatory. to get attendance you have to write 2 parag. Take him but beware.
I stopped reading the textbook a couple weeks into this class. So save your money and don't buy it. Easy A
He is annoying to listen to. No lockdown browser though. In my class he said he was going to take attendance and never did. Many people did not show up for months. Overall though, I never studied for anything and got an A.
I took Prof Snook for political science. I believe his class was easy enough and wasn't extremely difficult for assignments, I wouldn't take a class with him again. He has a very weird attendance policy. His lectures were very boring and don't really matter cause he posts the PowerPoint with voiceovers on D2L.
I learned absolutely nothing new in this class. The class is boring. He gets distracted by talking bout other things when he lectures. I still ended up earning a good grade in this class though. Discussion due every second week. Quizzes the same. Only test are midterm and final. no lockdown or camera.
Professor Snook's class is very simple. In class you just cover power points for lecture. You have a discussion and a 4-5 question quiz every two weeks. If you do the discussion you get a 100.There is a midterm and final. Both are open note, but you have limited time to take them. Overall this is probably the easiest class I have taken at KSU.
Dr. Snook cares about his students success and he does try to help you do so. His paper feedback is pretty harsh, but his grading is fair.
His class was very easy. I never went to class and did okay. The midterm and final are multiple choice exams that make up the majority of your grade, so not doing well could harm you. He mostly takes the key terms out of the textbook, so I used an online copy. His discussions are very easy, quizzes are medium hard, and he provides extra credit.
Chill. Everything online, no lockdown. Easy A with minimal effort. Cool guy too.
You will get an A in the class if you show up to class and do your work. He is a very political teacher so you will have to be careful with that. He was helpful to you if you need help in and outside of the classroom. This was an easy class. I would recommend him if you have to take this class.
My favorite teacher! The easiest class for an A+. He gives so much extra credit if you attend class, make sure you come to his lectures. He does random attendance checks. It's impossible not to get an A+. Open book quizzes and exams. He will review the exams in class before the exam. Attend to get the answers! One essay paper, super easy grader.
I had him for an online summer class as an incoming freshman and he was great! He had open note tests and quizzes, some discussion posts, and one project. He gave great lectures and I found it to be a great class to start with!
Terrible online. Hard timed assesments.
Dr. Snook was a good guy. His lectures were kind of all over the place but the tests were all fairly easy. Participation in class doesn't really matter but there are discussion posts you have to answer biweekly online. Feedback is clear and precise when asked for. If you're looking for an easy A this is the class for you.
I still don't understand how he manages to say so much yet so little at the same time.
Passionate about teaching and a kind person. Graded off of quizzes, exams, and discussion posts, but most were pretty easy. Definitely get the textbook since it'll help with the powerpoints. Only thing is his lectures are not very engaging and attendance was mandatory.
I learned a lot in Dr. Snook's class, but it was also my hardest of the semester. Yes you have to do the reading or else you will have no clue what's going on. He responds to emails quickly and fully answers questions, but the assignments are sometimes difficult to comprehend. Taking his class isn't the end of the world, but be prepared to work.
I ended up taking Prof Snook my first semester. He's not a bad prof. However, both the lectures and textbook were personally hard for ME to understand. We had a few discussion posts which were super easy 100s, but the class is lowkey exam based so if you don't do well on the exams you probably won't pass the class, which is why I had to drop it.
He isn't a bad person really, his class structure is just terrible. There are virtually no chances to pass his class if you don't have spectacular test taking skills. His only assignments (5) add up to the grades of 2 exams. There are 6 exams total. Meaning, if you struggle with even one exam, good luck getting that grade back up.
lectures are pointless, and he often contradicts himself when grading assignments. if you can take someone else, take them. if snook is your only option, just know what you're getting into and prepare accordingly. ask him for help on assignments
Does random attendance checks so you have to come to class, it's a snooze fest so prepare to have work to do in class, its not the content that's boring it's the professor. Gives out extra credit. 1 mini essay assignment, the rest is weekly quizzes and discussions. If you want an easy class, this your class. Do not buy textbook.
Overall, the lectures were informative, and the class wasn't challenging. The book was hard to read and gave a one-sided perspective, so you need to dig and pull more from his lectures and do some independent research to learn the material.
He was fine no good or bad things to say.
Seems like a nice person, but he would drag on in his lecture videos. The most annoying thing about this course had to be his exams. He has you select 4 out of 6 questions to answer, which seem to be open-ended questions to state what you have learned about the topic, but he doesn't clearly state that he is looking for a specific answer.
I am confused on most of these ratings but the best Polysci professor I have had. Also one of the easiest and enjoyable classes I have ever taken!! I highly recommend taking him for Polysci 1101.
Easy grader, gives really great feedback and is also a fast grader. His lectures are a tad hard to follow but overall had a good experience in his class. The workload isn't super heavy, it's all writing but you're given a week if not more to do one assignment.
