Great lecture notes. He doesn't lecture too slow. Tries to be as helpful as he can.

Can get ahead of himself, but his notes are clear. Tries to make lectures as interesting as possible. Quite easy to approach during office hours, and is eager to explain things until it is clear.

Great prof. Goes the extra mile by posting lecture notes online and participates in the online message board. Very approachable and clear. I still prefer McCall.

This guy is awful! He took the spot of an amazing prof McCall, it is good he puts the notes of the internet but thats it!
Because it's his first time teaching the course, he's done a pretty good job. But he is kind of boring.
Prof. was very thoughtful to put up notes on WEBCT, and always offered to clairfy things. Needs to improve on having better control of the class during lectures. It was very difficult & distracting to hear him even if you are sitting in the front row.
Great prof and great lectures, but it doesn't really matter because he gave the most insufferable midterm and final exam.
Nice teacher, but his exams were hard!!
He cares about the littlest things that you would never think that a professor would even think about. He also gives different answers to different people concerning the same question.
the worst professor I have ever had. He does not know how to teach. Classes are extremely boring, you are falling asleep half the time.
Wolf is a very insecure professor who can't control his classroom. His lectures are very boring and monotone, and he isn't the most understanding or friendly professor. The exams were on the hard side.
this guy was ok, he wasn't as bad as everyone thought he was considering that you couldn't hear him half the time cause everyone was to absorbed in their own conversations, maybe it wasn't his fault he didn't ahve control. some people need manners!
tests - straightforward, simple, easy. lectures - straightforward, well-organized, dummy-proof, boring. professor - easy to approach, helpful, uses webct as an effective communication tool for the course.
Wolfe is a good guy. He doesn't really have control of the class, but you'd think by University that people would pay attention since they're paying all this cash. He's fair, and what he teaches is on the tests although I think his wording is tricky. Just pay attention, study and you'll do fine.
Great Prof. Very helpful and generally cares about his students. never gets mad but should start kicking people out for talking in class!
Considering the old reviews, hes definitely improved. He lacks techqiues to quiet down the class and can be boring. BUT overall a good guy!! hes nice when you talk to him.. the course is interesting but i regret wasting my money on the book. You just memorize lecture notes and ull be okay. TAKE IT!
when you think about it, and think about it hard, this guy is an amazing prof, seriously, he cares and it shows! So what if hes challenging, you never regret going to lecture!
this dude needs some help.....he needs to control the class.. he has no sense of humor..... he sucks. DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASSES WITH HIM..... DO NOT BY THE BOOKS FOR HIS CLASSES JUST BY A PILLOW.
A terrible lecturer, unfair examiner, unattentive to student requests and very disorganized lecturer. It's shameful, york has this individual teaching an introductory science class to non-majors, leaving students in a state of confusion. Certainly a class act in poorest quality and not recommeded.

He needs to be teaching master or doctorate students, NOT FIRST YEAR CLASS AND INTRODUCTORY NATURAL SCIENCE COURSES BECAUSE HE CANNOT RELATE TO THE STUDENTS UNDERSTANDING OF THE COURSE MATERIAL!HE ASSUMES EVERYONE JUST UNDERSTAND CHEMISTRY & CONCEPTS WRITE OFF THE BAT! CLEARLY HE IS NOT A GOOD PROF!
Was terrified to have him as a prof. after reading these reviews. However, after having him as a prof. I can vouch that he is NOT that bad. Yes, he's boring and doesn't have control over the class but tests/assignments are very easy. He's also very helpful. Overall, not amazing but nice, fair and ez
the prof's lectures r long n tedious hence u definitly need a pillow!!!! the prof should look into teaching more astronomy than NATS!!! he is unable to control noise in the class.. and he is very monotone!!!! review sessions r total flop he should consider going back to teachers college...THANKS
His class is very boring and the course covered everything from the dirt to the entire sky. His exams were very very difficult and tricky. It doesn't help even if you study hard. Less than 50% of the student got higher than C. I'm very dissapointed in this course.
Where did York find this clown? He's absolutely terrible, disorganized and relentless about his nuclear aspirations, that has nothing to do with the course. He allows noisy students to disrupt the class, tricks students on exams and glows on discouraing students. Greatly not recommended.!!!!
The people giving him bad reviews are the morons who got C in Natural Science. He's not bad at all...clearly there are better profs but he's fine. In the words of Ah-nuld: STOP WHINING
I've got 5 words: STEER CLEAR FROM THIS GUY! He assumes that every student in there has some sort of knowledge of science. His tests sucked in the worst possible way. Over 75% ppl failed his tests...but made up for it by having an easy exam...maybe b/c he realized that no one was passing his class! NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL!
he is one lousy prof! he's unclear, gets ticked off REALLY easy and mumbles to himself when he is lecturing. the class itself is already boring but with him teaching it makes it two times boring. he tries really hard to be funny but it comes off pitiful. the class is easy but i'd rather take a harder course than to sit thru his lecture.
Although I will agree that this prof. wasn't able to get a good hold on the class (i.e. many talkers/skippers), I thought he had very effective teaching methods and it kept me interested. He was very helpful with questions and even posted some notes on WebCT for the first semester! If you're not a slacker you should enjoy him. Overall a great prof!
Worst prof I ever had. Terrible lecturer assumes CRAZY knowledge, tests are on untaught material, Terrible all around. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASSES. He made me drop out of physics after 3 years.
He's helpful,he's clear,his tests aren't terrible...one of my best profs all around.
This professor was amazing...hes clear, incredibly helpful and really, if you study, his tests are decent to easy. THATS IF YOU STUDY. All around nice guy, not out to fail his students like half of the other professors
I think he's a pretty good professor! His notes are really clear and he explains before he starts writing.1st exam sucked for me cuz there was not a lot of time 2 do it.Final for 1st term...HUH?What weird questions!!! Overall, he's OK!
amazing prof.. very helpful.. will let you photocopy his notes if need be.. overall a great guy
Carl Wolfe is a nice man.. You would have to be very very stupid not to get an A in this course. His notes are very helpful, and he is very good at letting the class know what you should do to get a good mark. Although his teaching strategy may not be very interesting, I recommend this prof!
great guy. take the course, study, and you will get an A
Very good prof, simplifies the material so it s really easy to understand, not hard to get a good mark, as long as u study. One thing I dont understand is WHY in the world I bought that expensive book, if its not needed!!!???
what a nice guy. and his notes are very easy to follow. if your going to take this class dont buy the text book its usless and its $120. overall its a good class and an easy way to get a very good mark
Um..he IS a good prof - in explaining things...but his exams suck! If it wasn't for his exams, you can get A+ in the course...but overall, he's ok
No Comments
an ok prof. he is very clear about the material and writes very good notes. pay attention in class and you will do well. exams are a little difficult, but term projects are easy if u are not a science major (essay=easy marks). DO NOT BUY THE TEXT! waste of $120 cuz its never used.
He does know a lot, but he doesnt lecture well. he reads off of his powerpoints walking around and looking at the floor. His notes are also on WebCT so no one really goes to class. He made me enjoy NATS less than the previous prof, since he came halfway through.
PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK!!! WASTE OF MONEY!!!other then that this course is EXTREMELY boring, the material is easy but his mid terms are just ridicoulous!

very very boring lecturer, lecture notes posted on WEBCT but he says to attend because things covered in lecture will not be in online lecture notes, however after attending his lectures he never mentioned anything that wasn't in online lecture notes. textbook is not required
I think he's a good prof. He's very clear when he's getting his ideas across to us. His slides are extremely helpful! And thats all you need to study for the exams. I think he is passionate about what he does and that always helps the learning experience.
Very clear, and easy to understand. makes a non-scientific thinker, enjoy and understand science. Funny, and entertaining enough to make learning fun. Thank you
He made the lecutre clear, and easy to understand. Funny, and entertaining. His midterm is too much, its like 14 short/case questions for only 80 mins. Final is ok, some of the questions are so confused; also hard to get good marks. But overall, he is good prof.
Best professor I've had. He is very helpful and understanding. His lectures are all you need--they are great.
This prof needs to understand an elective is an elective and he should treat it like one. This prof requires some retraining. 8 labs + 2 projects 2 midterms 2 exams..too much workload for an elective comparitively with other NATS courses (TRUSTT ME!) Spoke with other NATS students and they laugh when u tell them u taking this course.STAY AWAY.AVOID
Worst class of the century and I'm not exagerating. He's not approachable, the exams are extreemly hard and he uses weird examples that complicate the question even further to the point where its un answerable. If you can't avoid taking this class then at least DON'T BUY THE TEXT BOOK!
Worst class of the century and I'm not exagerating. He's not approachable, the exams are extreemly hard and he uses weird examples that complicate the question even further to the point where its un answerable. If you can't avoid taking this class then at least DON'T BUY THE TEXT BOOK!
very bad professor. horrible
Professor Wolfe is a good prof. His slides are very clear and the examples he uses are good. I found it easy to get good marks in this class you just need to clearly understand what you're being asked to do.
This professor is extremely hard! I'm not just saying this to scare all of you but at one point even our TA recommended that a group of students get together to get him kicked out. There are *2* midterms and *2* exams!! Thats a WHOLE lot! I wouldn't reccomend this prof to anyone. WATCH OUT=)
i absolutely hate science and ended up with a B+, do not buy the textbook i didnt and still got a good mark you never use it. you will smoke the assignments as long as you follow instructions because the ta's are really easy! you'll fail or barely pass the exams, they're impossible. i would recommend the course since we are forced to take a nats!
It really frustrates me when I hear bad things about Professor Wolfe, because he is a wonderful professor. I hate science and I thought I would hate this class, but his lectures are very clear and informative. He knows what he's talking about and even gives a detailed power point of the lecture AND gives everyone enough time to copy the slides down
Let me just say that the average for both mid-term and final was 50%. This was in a class of 400 students. His other assignments (8 labs & 2 major assignments) are fair depending on your T.A. You really need to study to do well. Don't take it if you dont have to
I think he was an okay prof. incredibly boring though. I think he made it too hard for students and on the tests there were things he didn't teach to the students unless you self studied the textbook.
OH I feel bad for you if you end up in Wolfe's NATS course :( Honestly, it's so bad. I did end up with an A, so hopefully that shows you how terrible the prof is if an A student is complaining. 4 exams, 2 essays, 10 labs. TESTS are BRUTAL, that's what killed it. Take NATS with a diff prof.TEXTBOOK IS ABSOLUTELY USELESS, never opened it, don't buy i
Prof Wolfe is an extremely intelligent guy, and he really knows the material for this course, but his lectures are indeed very very dry. This is Environmental Science; It's compelling! what makes it so, though, is its application. I wish he'd done more of that from the very beginning. The text book is awesome on its own, but we hardly ever used it
no point of buying the book or even going to class!!! Y'ALLA HABIBI!!!
do not take this course!!! way too much work for an elective. 8 activites/small assignments, 2 hugeeee assignments, 4 exams. he does not post slides online so you need to go to class to take notes and it's difficult to take notes and listen to him lecture at the same time. class avg for exams is 50%.......
dry lectures. not much textbook use. very very difficult exams!!!! low class avg on exams (50%)...not a fun course.
no interest in attending class since it is boring. exams are indeed very difficult
GREAT professor. Tries to engage the class in discussion, and genuinely cares for his students. He is very lenient, and understanding when it comes to assignments and tests. I would definitely take a class with him again.
Very knowledgeable and conveys material well. He'll expect you to keep up with the readings. Exams aren't that hard if you study the material.
attending lectures is a must because he does not post his material online. lectures are very boring and can make you fall asleep. prof seems quite intelligent and seems like he knows his stuff but he does not know how to explain concepts properly. its the worst when he writes on the board most people sitting at back cannot see bcuz the class is hug
He is a nice and interesting prof, and would be happy to have him as a prof again
The course is about Energy, something he is very passionate about! However, he does not realize this is a first year general education course. Expect to learn everything from how sun creates light to smallest piece in a nuclear reactor to movements of electrons in conductive material. He is not flexible at all!
Very clear speaker who obviously knows his material well. If you don't like science you will likely not enjoy his class.
HE was a good teacher, you can tell he loves his job. When a man loves his job, he really tries hard to make sure he is TEACHING. As long as you read the small book you will be good, little formula use and ALWAYS answered questions no matter what. A+++ WOULD TAKE AGAIN!
Do not take this class! It's supposed to be an introductory course but it is much more advanced than that. There is a quiz every other week online but they are very hard. The midterm was very difficult. Worst class ever. Would avoid this prof. Even if you do the readings, the material is hard to graspe.
Passionate about his work; understanding and helpful; encourages questions(sets a day be4 exams to answer questions) heavy book use, but not a necessary read for finals (thoroughly expands on SLIDE lecture notes so the text wasnt too important imo) exam material based on the S notes. not too difficult; recap of gr8-10 science plus a bit more.
Gets kind of scary when anything makes him even slightly angry, midterm tests were a bit too long for time provided, make sure you manage your time! Final exam was fair
WORST PROF EVER...I MEAN SERIOUSLY THE GUY SUCKS...ALL HE WANTS IS TO GET OVER WITH IT AND HE DOESNT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT STUDENTS UNDERSTANDING THE COURSE. TOO HARD FOR INTRODUCTORY LEVEL..AVOID HIM IF YOU CAN
i still have nightmares about this prof and this course
he is a nice prof, he helps you as he can, and the test is not hard as long as you don't miss any class. he is great!!!
Every time I had a question he took the time to answer them whether in lecture, after class in the hallway or in office hours. The material can be difficult depending on your level of understanding of science. The textbook was a waste of money. I looked at it twice. The slide presentations given in class are essential and well presented.
Excellent prof. Helped students in class. Course is a bit difficult though
Great professor, highly approachable. His lectures are very clear, with detailed lecture slides. His tests are also fair and straight-forward. He is always available during office hours to answer any questions or go through your tests for a better understanding!
Excellent Proff! Will take out time to help students, very approachable. T.A was amazing (Barry) was really easy-going. Ended up with a B+
Basically high school biology and chemistry. Not hard at all, there is no need to attend his class because he basically reads off his slides. Textbook may be supplementary but I never used it and still ended with an A+. Study from his slides, past papers, practice, and maybe a bit from the activity and you should be fine.
Great Professor! Very clear and passionate. His tests are based off his lecture notes. He is very open and helpful. I really enjoyed his class. Tests are quite fair, and the assignments are not very difficult. I wouldn't mind taking another course with him. Great Professor overall, would definitely recommend!
Im a first year student and this was my favorite prof by far for the whole year!
great prof!! though I m not really good at this course, as long as u take notes in class and review it carefully, u will be fine !!! he is patient! nice prof!!:)))
A professor who speaks with clarity and passion for what he teaches. Willing to help students with material that is not understood. Some material might not be boring. I Recomend completing all activities and class assignments as they are easier marks to obtain. He usually posts all his slides which are useful for tests and Exams. Recommended.
Interesting stuff to be learned in this class, but unfortunately Wolfe didn't do a good job teaching because when it came to doing the weekly assignments he'd give us, I would literally have to learn the topic online and find out everything that I can in order to do the assigments. And unfortunately even that isn't enough.
Amazing prof. Great person, very approachable and helpful. Attending lectures are important to understand the content of the course. 4 tests, 2 exams, 2 assignments, and 7/8 labs. Labs are very easy. Guaranteed good mark in this class if you are up to date!
One of the best profs!!! He is smart and passionate, he can demonstrate some abstract theory in a simple and clear way, easily understood. You can also get a lot of help from moodle where he puts on useful images and links. Very nice prof, strongly recommend!
Lectures are not very interesting. There is no need for a tutorial in this course, and the professor over authorizes the TA. Wish I hadn't taken the course with him.
Even though he's not too interesting, he knows what he is talking about. Passionate about science and helps the students as much as he can. Assignments are easy especially if you do the labs.
He doesn't teach properly and his tests are hard, and he gives a lot of work. Avoid him at all cost! Do not make eye contact he is really menacing
People should be advised before they take this class about how ridiculously huge the workload is. Over the course of the year you will have 2 midterms, 2 finals, 11 online quizzes, 6 assignments, 8 tutorial reports and a research paper. It is pretty much never ending. The lectures were hard to focus in and made easy concepts complicated. Avoid!
If you take this class, don't expect to have a moment to breathe. The workload is frequent and constant. Difficult to sit through, and very hard to focus. I wouldn't recommend!
If your not majoring in any science related courses and do not have a background on science Carl would be the worst Prof, because he knows too much and expects U do,but tips coo all assignments, online quiz and tutorials. finally its a lot of work...
This course is a waste of time. If you need a science course to do, don't choose him. The course should actually be easy but he makes it way too difficult. This class was just depressing. I don't advise anyone to do this course.
I m taking it in summer, The course is not easy, if u want a bird course, u can avoid it. Many assignment , but this professor is really helpful, he had great passion in science, very approachable, but u need afford in this class to be able to get good mark, attendant is must.
he is a good pro. he talk clearly and explain accuracy. but this course is not easy. if you are not good at science, do not apply this course. and also the assignments are lot. exam is hard also.
He doesn't take the time to explain the material clearly
He is my favorite prof. at the beginning you may think the course is difficult, but everything is covered by his lecture and materials. i didnt have lots of interest on science before, the course really catch my attentions.
There are serval amounts of assignments and labs for his courses . He has prepared course materials for students to read which is good. His lecture is quite boring tho sometime lol
Pretty good Prof. He is clear and knows his material. The course itself is challenging but not impossible, it is very much do-able. I enjoyed having him as a prof, he can be funny but does NOT appreciate phones going off, or people leaving the class early and he will call you out on it. I don't recommend if you haven't taken grade 11 Chemistry.
He was good, I liked him but you must read according to the syllabus or else those quizzes he gives, you won't pass.
He's a very cut and dried kind of professor. He'll be over-prepared with material, but it's too much. You'll have experiments, lectures, assignments, online quizzes and tests. One area seems like chemistry when the other seems like earth science. This also leads to a lot of homework. I couldn't stand the online quizzes. They never worked. Bland.
Take this course if you want to spend a huge amount on a textbook, overpriced lab kit made up of common cheap materials such as coffee filters and plastic spoons, additional materials for experiments for included, and a subscription to an online service to take twice-weekly quizzes. Also expect to do enormous amounts of tedious assignments.
Although he is helpful, the course itself is very challenging and he's not an easy marker so it was a very painful experience for me
Would recommend for the compulsory Gen Ed science. His style is quite dry, but he's got a brain the size of a planet and wants you to understand. Interesting material - it's environmental science/ecology with some full-on chemistry. You don't need a science background. Very professional and well prepared. No waffle - he's pretty no nonsense.
Good professor, just not for me. Ended up dropping the class. The course required an understanding of grade 11 math (which i had received an 88 in), and was so confused by some of the equations we were doing, such as logarithm. If you have an understanding of physics and course content prior to course, you will be okay. If not, work hard!
Perfect example of a teacher who, while he may be knowledgeable, does NOT know how to teach or communicate effectively. To be fair, he does at least attempt to be helpful by scanning and uploading diagrams.
I am reading reviews of this prof and it seems that there were a lot more people who hated him in the past. He is NOT a boring lecturer. He has a light, quirky (and kinda dorky) sense of humor that only certain people will understand. He is more clear with course content than any prof I have ever had. Extremely helpful one-on-one.
A great prof, really knows the material and is passionate about the subject. I suggest taking it with friends, the assignments can be tough. You need to have a background in physics. I enjoyed the class itself and learnt a lot, but can be boring sometimes. The prof is very reasonable, and wants the students to do well!
Lectures can be dull at times but I think he does a good job of explaining and showing cool case studies. He is easy to approach and tries to help you if you have problems. 1840 has labs (every 2 weeks), 2 midterms and 2 finals. If you do the work you'll be fine, the textbook isn't really needed; he even says it himself: focus on the lecture.
if you be intersted in what he teaches you will excuse the limited shortcomings, he is mostly dry and doesn't smile but he is focused and tires to transfer his info. the material of lecture are amusing too. the text book of this course is about $200 and i opened it twice. follow the lecture slides and you will get B/A.
Only criticism: in your answers put in way more information than is asked for. Lost most of my marks for only giving the answer asked for.
The best prof I have till now. He is really helpful and willing to answer you almost all of the questions regarding assignments and lecture. He also provide the lecture recordings. If you like light and sound, you will get an A.
Was a good lecturer, he provided lecture slides and recordings on moodle which was very useful. There were a lot of assignments (take-home labs, online assignments) and the course was a little expensive as you had to buy a textbook, subscriptions to online stuff, tophat and a lab kit. Exams weren't very hard, just do readings and attend lectures.
Awesome prof! Really cares about his students & wants them to do well. Records lectures & scans anything used in class on Moodle. Lots of labs and assignments (opportunities to do well). Tests are organized similarly to assignments so no surprises. Provides detailed outlines for exams and always available to help.
Great!
amazing professor, gives feedback and grade nicely to all the homework and question .
I'm a science major and contrary to what a lot of people on here say, I don't believe he knows what he is talking about. There are SO many errors in the textbook and he is consistently being corrected by students in his quizzes, study guides and lessons. If I did not already know all of the stuff he is teaching us, I would be failing right now.
His exams are really different from the tests he makes. I think I would have failed if I hadn't known the stuff from before. Do yourself a favor, and take an easier introductory course,
Amazing! Actually feels like he cares and it lenient with most things if you explain yourself. Nice guy.
He's an amazing prof but if you do not have a background in psychics, you'll end up with a grade like mine!
Professor Wolfe is a down to earth kind of guy. He really keeps it real when it comes to environmental science and the different controversial topics within it. I really enjoyed his class because he was well organized and cared about student participation. He also listened well to students who spoke up and had questions. Overall a great prof!!
He is a patient, helpful, well-organized, and approachable professor. He is always willing to answer your questions and hopes you learn well. Do your best to attend his live sessions prior to the mid-term and final exams as he prepared a list of key points related to the real exam questions. A highly recommeded professor for you to learn together.
Professor Wolfe is a gem among some of the bad apples at York. He does his best to make class enjoyable for entry level physics students. He encouraged students to work together on his assignments so long as they didnt plagiarize, and even when they did he was nice enough to let them off with just warnings. Honestly the best prof Ive had so far.
A real gem I tell you
I am in loving with his gentle demeanor
His lectures were so easy to understand and enjoyable. He's also flexible when it comes to quizzes, tests, and grading. NATS1840 is highly recommended for those who are taking it for elective. Grade distribution in this course is very wide due to quizzes, assignments, and labs, which is a good thing in terms of midterm and final weight.
He's an amazing prof. The course load is very heavy but he is caring and gives extensions. Also easy to reach through email or zoom.
assignments 25% , 55 % for tests, lots of work and reading if ur ready for that I spent mon to fri to deal with readings and assignments. lots of random test questions.
Workload was fairly heavy but to be expected for a 6 credit class. Overall material was interesting and not too difficult. It was an online class so I never talked to the professor directly and I still got an A+
This class is the best place to start in natural science. I am a film student and understanding the principles of sound and light was incredibly helpful. The professor was very patient and respectful.
Prof. Wolfe is sincerely the best lecturer/professor that I have got so far in my time at York University. He always makes time for questions after each slide of the presentations and is always available to help out with remaining questions after lectures, by email or via his office hours. He is very caring, funny and goofy. Take his class!
He can help you, but the questions on the tests and quizzes are not straightforward. Also his videos don't support browsers. Horrible professor.
This was his first time teaching 1506, course went great. He was very helpful and always clarified things in lecture if you were uncertain about a specific topic. would take again
This was Dr. Wolfe's first time teaching the course and he did a good job. Always available to answer questions and was usually nice. However, lectures were a bit hard to follow sometimes.
Lectures are well-paced and easy to understand. Really good with explanations. If you do homework and suggested practice will do well as exams are really similar to it
I liked him. Nice guy who really cares about his students and he explains concepts really well and he makes sure we understand. Very grateful I had him as a professor.
Professor Wolfe tried his best to teach this course, and seeing that it was his first time he tried. But a lot of the lecture material was difficult to follow and overcomplicated for no reason. The tests were horrible, I believe this was a problem with how the course was structured and not really the prof's fault, but again he could've been better.
Amazing lecturer and passionate about teaching. Very clear and concise explanations; worth attending his lectures otherwise you're missing what you're paying for. Textbook practice is recommended as well considering it is a math course.
Goated prof. Took 1506 in the summer and only did poorly because i slacked crazy after the midterm and did bad on the final. The midterm and exams were both extremely fair, all covered in lecture, notes all posted. He was very clear and available after class or outside on a server with Ta's as well. Take 1506 with him!!
Professor Wolfe's lectures are worth attending to get clear explanations. The textbook practice is helpful for this math course. Unstuck AI was a great study tool.
Decent professor. Everything was clearly outlined in the syllabus. Forget about getting your final exam grade back on time. Final exam was 4 weeks ago and still no grade received. Thankfully I don't have to take another math course because the Math department seems disorganized.
Carle's lectures were very clear when he was explaining concepts and the tests were not a surprise as he gave us practice tests that were the exact outline of the tests. we were also given cheat sheets and calculators on the test which some profs dont do for this course so i would definitely recommend him for math 1506 if you have to take it
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR IF YOU WANT TO GET A GOOD GRADE.
this professor doesn't explain much. the lectures are mostly practice problems that he does himself with little explanation. this professor assumes you to know everything rather than explaining deeper. he posts the practice tests very close to the exam date and actually was too much in a “time constraint” to create an exam final practice.
If you want to get a good grade don't take with this prof!!! RUNNN
Dr Wolfe seems to be a kind prof, but more detail to the concepts is needed. Majority of lecture consists of practice problems, but little on the concepts themselves, which just confused me more. He did allow us cheat sheets and gave us practice tests, but the exam practice test was an old one from last year and not the same format as ours.
THE WORST PROFESSOR EVER!
Wolfe follows the course outline well, and the assignments and labs involve knowledge from lectures and readings. He provides a detailed list of what you need to know and what will be on the exam, making it very easy to pass. The course has iClickers questions, take-home assignments where the best 6/7 are chosen, 2 mid-terms and 2 finals.
Terrible Professor, His classes are easy as hell but he struggles to explain anything. Only reason people go to his lectures is because of his iClicker questions, otherwise no one would show up. You have to pay for the textbook and on webassign or else you can't even do the assignments which is so stupid.
Terrible professor. Lectures are useless and only worth attending for iClicker points. Explanations are confusing, and it feels like he doesn't care if students actually learn. On top of that, you're forced to buy a textbook and WebAssign just to do basic assignments
Awful teacher. He can't explain anything clearly and his lectures feel like a waste of time. The class setup is a money grab—forcing you to buy the textbook and WebAssign just to pass. If it weren't for iClicker points, nobody would even show up.
The lectures are overly complicated, he breaks down complexes and ideas instead of examples and explaining actual math and algebra based calculus. He is overall nice, and the tests are so easy compared to the lecture component and tedious assignments.
Worst experience as a first year
finishing the class in a 2 weeks, lectures have been extremely confusing. When he tries to explain them he just does examples but does not explain how he gets to the final answer (skips steps). Tests are usually easier than the examples in class except for a couple curve balls. Class ave is 40%. Get a prof that has their research in math not him
This individual is lost; his lectures are very disorganized and difficult to follow. He prefers teaching with examples rather than teaching the actual concept. It is recommended that you enter his class with a prior knowledge of grade 12 calculus; otherwise, it is tough. However, tests were easy since I finished grade 12 calculus in high school.
The grading system on the test is out of 20 and so its very hard for you to get a good mark just because you lost 2 or 3 points. For the final exam he does not prepare you at all compared to other profs
