she laughs like a donkey and is an awful teacher. The only B I made in 4 years of college

Pre Nursing Class
The class was okay she made it fairly easy for a required course that you weren't really interested in.
She does not know what she is talking about. She is not very helpful. If you need to ask her questions out of class, do not bother. She will not help. She expects you to know everything when you do not.
The questions out of the book are easy, but the questions on her tests get SO much harder. Most of the time you're not even sure what she's asking because she didn't explain it well enough!
Class was easy, not much homework, usually every othe week there were 10 problems due, tests were not easy, some questions on test weren't even similar on the study guide
class was hard and pretty fast paced, but i found she took time to answer questions in class and was very helpful the one time i had to see her for help outside of class.
I wouldnt recommend this this teacher to anyone. I've taking her twice and still not not achieve in her class.... DO NOT TAKE HER FOR STATS!!!!
Horrible teacher. Just because someone has a degree in math doesnt mean they should teach.
she is terrible. she is not clear in how to do the steps. she skips most steps. there would be times in class when she couldnt even work the problem. she honestly dosnt care if you pass her class or not and it is so obvious. dont take her if you want a good grade.
Too much homework. 60+ Problems every homework assignment
I got a 4 on the Calculus AB test in high school and I'm making a C in this class. If I hadn't taken that class, I would definitely be failing. I use those notes more than hers. I'm majoring in mathematics and she is still impossible. Change at all costs.
I had an awful time in this class. Math was never my strongest subject and I didn't enjoy the way she taught it. I wish she would have gone over more problems in class. There's also a lot of homework, and sometimes we would be expected to do problems that we had not yet covered in class. Very unenjoyable, harder-than-it-needs-to-be class.
This teacher was awful. She gives excessive amounts of homework with incredibly hard questions. Even the math tutors had a hard time helping. She barely explains things in class as well. Switch professors at all costs.
I took college algebra with her and the class was pretty straightforward. The homework was online at Mymathlab and I found that the most helpful in learning algebra. She explains well and reviews problems that'll be on the test. Overall, pretty easy if you study with MyMathLab and notes and take her for college algebra.
She was difficult and confusing. I had a GPA of 3.8 and still failed her quizzes and tests.
She is very hard, doesn't wait for you if you don't understand. I took her for pre-cal and I did horrible. She gives alot oh homework online, thats the only grade that helped my overall grade. Otherwise she goes very quick.
Not a helpful teacher.
She is seriously the worst teacher I have ever had. I love algebra and she makes it way more complicated than it has to be. If I didn't know the material before taking her class I would have for sure failed. Also, her laugh is HORRIBLE. Just make sure to get a different professor.
The class is actually pretty easy if you have a pretty good knowledge of Algebra before the class starts. She doesn't wait for you to catch on, which can be a problem if you're like me. The only thing that has saved me in this class is teaching myself the material on MyMathLab. BE PREPARED FOR EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF HOMEWORK!
If you ask me I felt like she goes too slow, but I was always good at math. She is straight to the point and walks through each step so the class can clearly understand. We had this one girl in our class that always asked the dumbest questions, though that could be because she wasn't paying attention or she just was really bad at math.
Mrs. Adamson has the best personality ever. As far as teaching, I would not recommend anyone to take her class. She gives entirely too much homework. Her tests are always hard. Only thing that's easy are her quizzes.
The class over all is hard. She barely explains things in class, but she will help if you need it. However, most of the time you end up confused anyway. If you're not good with math, and/or don't have a strong math background, do not take this professor.
Carla Adamson is a clear straightforward teacher. Most of her class when I took it acted like little babies that needed their hands held, who were unable to even simplify fractions. How they got there God knows. She's fair, clear, helpful, and expects you to be an adult and study outside of class. What a concept.
Make sure to do all of the homework, and study for the tests. If you don't understand something, ASK. She will help you out if you are willing to ask. Also, make sure to study in advance for her final. She gives a super crazy long review, do it like 5 times, or you will probably fail the exam.
The worst teacher I have ever had. She gives out work for homework, after she has it to grade she will then tell you how to work the problem. I have never taken Calculus, so took PRE calculus to help me. I feel she assumes everyone knows this stuff already, but as I ask around the table for help, all three people at my table are completely confused
She does care about her student's success, even if it isn't fully communicated to the class as a whole. Her professionalism is at the bottom of the barrel. She would make "joking" comments that made my stomach curl, followed by that piercing laugh. If you're a student that focuses on school don't slam the brakes and turn around, buckle up.
She's nice enough, but this was my hardest class. And I'm a biology major. Homework every night, quizzestests every week that are never worded like the examples in class. If you have a weak background in math then I highly suggest trying another professor before taking Ms. Adamson
I love her. She saved my butt. This class was group learning style, something MT is trying to make more common, and I just don't learn that way. But she was ALWAYS available via email and her office, was so helpful, and helped me so much. She knows her stuff. I wish she was a lecture professor bc she is that good, but you should take her.
She doesn't make the course easy since most the time you're learning on your own and the final is a lot easier than the chapter test.
She doesn't teach anything it's all group work. If someone in the group doesn't understand how to do the problem she says go to tutoring. When you go to her tutoring someone else has to explain, not her. Going to her office hours doesn't help either she will promise to help you with your grade but doesn't. There is homework every night.
she can be helpful if you are polite. very lax with reservists and guard for drill, and she treated the homework as extra credit at the end.
I took pre-cal in high school the year before and got A's both semester and managed to get a C for 1 day for her. I some how kept a D through most of the semester. She really isn't a very good teacher. You'll basically be teaching yourself for 80% of the class BUT she does boost up your grade if you show some type of improvement and real effort.
Ms. Adamson grades too hard. If you are trying she doesn't care, you have to have it exactly right or it is wrong. She doesn't teach she just puts you in a different group every other week and expects your classmates to help you when they don't even know what they are doing. She made me feel like I didn't know what I was doing the whole semester.
Most definitely recommend that no one takes her !!! Her grading is horrible . She doesn't teach. There is homework every night ! Recommends tutoring but that will not help either. I promise you ! She does not give any extra credit. She really does not care if you fail.
She seems like she'd be a decent person outside of class, but she's a TERRIBLE teacher. The common core curriculum makes it worse. There is homework due each class. The "pre-test" you take at the beginning of the semester gets graded. Her laugh is obnoxious. She doesn't explain clearly and berates the class for not understanding. Don't take her.
Ms Carla is a nice person; always willing to help outside of class, she also cares for her students. She gets mad if students fail. If you must take her,you have a lot of studying to do; there is always homework everyday fro the textbook. She gives 6 test excluding the final. She gives exam review for each coming test, make sure you study it well.
DO NOT TAKE HER. she moves to fast, gives 75 question homework assignments due every week, and u have a quiz and test every week !!!!!!!!!!!! DONT DO IT
Mrs. Adamson is a very caring person; she is always willing to help students outside of class (visit her office hours as much as you can; ask questions about the homework or any material you don't understand), she cares about her students grades. She does give a lot of homework, however it helps you better understand the material being taught.
The class is a difficult one, especially if math isn't one of your strengths. There's lots of homework but the assignments aren't long. Extra credit may be offered if it's needed by the whole class, though. You cover a lot in one class period and you really don't want to miss.
i personally loved Carla adamson. i would go to her office if I had any questions and she would gladly help. also her office had snacks which was even better lol... lots of homework but they are really helpful. Youll pass the class if you attend class and do the homework. Lots of extra credit
Honestly, she is a very good teacher and very helpful. You just need an open mindset. Yes there are a lot of test and homework, but it is quite easy. Tests come from things she says in class and very similar to practice test that she gives. Her worksheets and homework are great way to have a good grade She also does offer a lot of extracred credit.
Good professor. She explains things very clearly and offers a good chunk of extra credit around midterm time, so that's a big plus. She will use every last minute of the class so don't rely on her letting out early. Homework heavy, yes and textbook is required to do said homework.
Mrs. Adamson is an amazing teacher. The class is done entirely as group work and she changes groups around after each exam. I thought I would hate that but it actually ended up being really helpful. She tries to give every opportunity to earn points. Lots of homework but the amount of points available really help pull up your grade. Truly cares.
Doesn't explain anything to make you understand it, she just writes out a bunch of problems and then splits everyone into groups to solve them. She doesn't seem all that interested in making sure people are actually understanding the concepts. A very friendly person but an awful teacher. Don't take her unless you're already proficient in math.
She seems like a nice person but does not teach the material well. I got an A in Precalculus and failed her first exam. Take a different professor. I would even recommend waiting a semester if it means you won't have to take her.
Doesn't explain problems, just writes them on the board, assigns a ton of homework, usually like 20 problems a night. If you are good at math not a problem, but I knew a lot of people who struggled, and I ended up teaching myself all of the material. The last unit of homework wasn't mandatory and counted as extra credit, attendance is a test grade.
I was in her precalculus class. I suck at math, but I felt like the only time I was learning ANYTHING was from SI sessions. Her exams have barely any multiple choice, but she IS a partial grader and has plenty of opportunities for multiple choice if you choose to take them.
She is overall a wonderful professor. She gives alot of assignments but as long as you do them you will be fine. She gives 7 total homework assignments (pretty long but plenty of time to do them) and 5 test. She gives you points for coming to class and bonus points every once in awhile. She is always available if you need her and responds quickly.
Honestly? She treats us like children, and has an extremely annoying voice and laugh. I can tell she's trying to make the class enjoyable, but it's just not. She teaches the stuff half decently, which so far is all I need since I know most of it from high school. However, I know many don't have all that and need better teachers.
Mrs. Adamson is very personable and will help you with anything you need outside of class. She spent several hours on just me alone in office hours. The main problem I have is that she gives tests that are WAY harder than test reviews and she teaches at supersonic speed. I could not keep up.
Not a very organized professor. She made things more confusing than they needed to be. She would make so many mistakes that students would have to correct her on which is frustrating. She was, however, very understanding. Shell do her best to work with you and help you learn. It was a reasonably easy class in my opinion.
Mrs. Adamson was literally one of my favorite professors during my freshman year. Don't get me wrong... I definitely struggled but you just have to kinda show her that you want to make a good grade and you'll make a good grade. I went from D's on every test to ending the semester with an A on the final exam and in the class.
Ms. Adamson is the best instructor I've ever had at this university. She's funny, considerate, and always answers questions (I ask so many questions..). Her D2L is full of resources to help you succeed, and honestly I've barely used them and my grade is still good. She may assign a lot of HW, but most of it is easy and you can ask for help.
The great things about this professor is, you can email her before night time and she will respond very quickly. She will also help you with your homework questions you have during office hours. But, as a teacher who teaches the material, she is awful. Do not take her if you truly need a teacher. Makes things more complicated than they need to be.
Mrs. Adamson just throws things on the board and regurgitates it as if you have already seen the material. I had to teach myself everything and since I haven't been in school for almost a decade, I'm not doing well. The tests are impossible as she openly tries to trick you. I am doing the final review and she's joking about trying to trick us. RUN!
Im writing this rate halfway through the semester to warn other people not to take this professor. Shes not approachable, will ignore you if you ask her questions after class, and literally draws smiley faces on your exam if you failed it. Shes probably the most unprofessional instructor Ive ever taken at this school. Avoid her.
Very tough teacher. Do not take I promise. She doesnt explain anything she lectures the whole time and the class its self is hard enough. Dont do it!!!!
Love her to death but she is not a good teacher. If you need help or you are not good at math, i do not recommend this class.
She is literally the worst professor ever. Doesn't give you partial credit on a test and and if you miss one of the short answer ones it takes you down a whole letter grade. DO NOT TAKE. Doesn't want you to do good. annoying. If you get her, SWITCH ASAP. Doesn't explain anything, and expects everything to be review. TERRIBLE TEACHER.
Barely lectures, explains things faster than you can reasonably process, gets annoyed when you don't understand. Acts like all the material is review, doesn't understand technology very well. She even forgot to give me points that I earned, causing my grade to be lower than it should have been until I emailed her. Don't take her
If you have the chance to take her, do not. Not only is she not a good professor but she is unprofessional and an extremely tough grader. She does not explain the material clearly and expects you to teach yourself. The one thing I will say is that she was always available outside of class. 1/10, do not take
the test questions are nothing like you cover in class, and is the harshest grader ever. do not take if you arent the best in math or haven't taken in a while.
I am halfway through the semester and it has been the worst class I have ever been apart of, can't explain anything and her test are worded awfully. This class is a headache and I hate every single second of it.
Professor Adamson was a super great person. Attendance was mandatory, but if you missed, it was super easy to catch up. You have a lot of outside assignments to complete, but they're not due until the end of the semester and she gives extra credit if you complete them before the tests. Her class was super easy and I recommend taking her.
The class is a basic pre-cal course like any other... If you try, you will do fine, just like with any other class. If you can pay attention for the whole class, like a good human being should be able to do, you will do fine...
she does not teach well and when i do the homework its barley like the class material. i only liked this class because of my class mates.
Hardest class I've taken thus far. It's hard to understand the way that she explains some problems. The homework is also very different from what we learn in class. If you have to take this class for precalc, I'd recommend that you do the homework assignments a few times a week instead of waiting until the very end of the semester.
Do not take this professor if you have the chance not to.
I took freshman algebra from her, and she's probably the hardest teacher I've ever had. She treats all her material like a review, and talks through 10-20 questions each class too quickly to even take notes. If you have trouble understanding anything she explains, she doesn't leave any time in class to answer questions.
Worst teacher ever. She wants her students to fail. Her normal pass rate is 40% and she is proud of that. Horrible teacher
She's alright. Definitely goes over material too fast. Her quizzes are based on the homework and usually gives out as a practice test day before. If you want to do well, do the homework and try to learn from there.
She could not care less if you pass or not. She has terrible exam averages and laughs about it. She is the toughest grader on exams and if you miss one question you already have a B. She's really annoying and barely goes through material. She rushes through lessons as if you should already know the material and it is just review. Don't take her!!
She is a tough grader and makes pre cal hard for no reason. Don't put off doing your homework until the end of the semester. She gives extra credit if you attend class every day and complete all of the tasks she assigns.
in simple terms her classes are just review you have to study by your self a lot. she breezes through the questions by the time questions are done class is over
If you haven't been in a math class for 2+ years then do not take her. She treats everything like a review and expects you to know it. She gets irritated that we keep asking her the same questions when she only teaches it for 5 minutes and then moves on. You take a test every 2 weeks. The Homework is nothing like the problems we do in class.
Very nice overall, but too much workload out of class. The only reason I don't struggle w the course is because I took it in high school it is still fresh in my mind. However if you are new to the course you will have a difficult time understanding.
made it clear since day one she will not be going over ANY algebra despite it being a good chunk of the material. said everything in class is review from high school so she never lectured, only did practice problems. 5 exams all very difficult, each 10 questions, she said all of her classes were 35- 50% passing rates. take anyone else.
CARLAAAAAAAAAAAAL
She treats most of the material as a review. The material is quite easy, but her teaching is based on the textbook, which is difficult to grasp. The amount of homework does not prepare you for tests. She also takes digs towards students who do not show up to class and finds joy in how difficult her class is. I don't recommend taking her.
I don't even know where to start with Professor Adamson. This was one of the least enjoyable classes I've had this semester. While as a person Mrs. Adamson is very nice and willing to point out her own mistakes, as a teacher I have never wanted to drop out more. The time you put into this class will not equate to your test scores. Be warned.
So bad I had to drop it. She just reads problems and we have to work with our table to try to solve them. I got an A in pre-cal in high school but I failed every test in here. She also has a very loud voice and laughs loudly after every sentence.
You are put in groups (cycled after every test) and you guess how to solve the questions in the book then she reviews. She assumes you already know everything you need to solve the questions and she won't go over any algebra you need to know. Her tests are nothing like the practice and she is a very harsh grader. The class test average was 59.5%
The test averages were below 60 and the class passing rate was in the 50's and she didn't care that her students were failing. She treats everything like a review from high school and just goes through it in 5 minutes. You cover each module section per day and then test every week or every two weeks. Timed Trig quizzes @ the end of the semester.
Class averages were in the 50s and 60s and it seems like she doesn't care that her students are failing. She only reviews for 5 minutes and expects you to know everything. I learned better from Khan Academy than from this teacher.
Only goes over each topic once. There is a lot of home work and it is much harder than what is done in class but is the best thing to prepare for tests. The tests are a large proportion of your grade. In class she is generally friendly. If you want to do decently you need to show up to all if not almost all of the lectures and do extra credit.
The homework is nothing like the problems in class. I highly suggest investing in sticky notes and then writing everything she puts on the board on that and keeping it in your book. She writes formulas and kind of works out the problem but you need to listen mainly since she goes extremely fast.
Although her class can be a little tough she does provide a lot of opportunities to bring up ur grade and extra credit if u turn stuff in early. It's also very organized and everything was predictable. one of the better math professors I've had.
Math is hard in general especially if you are new to it. Yes, she treats class as a review, but does also lecture. She is willing to answer any question and help when needed. The tests mimic the material in the book. Attendance, unit circle quizzes, homework, and algebra worksheets are almost enough to get a passing grade and are relatively easy.
She's a great person and is very knowledgeable in her work. So much so that she treats the lectures like reviews most of the time. If you aren't the smartest student in the classroom and need time to process information this professor probably isn't for you. The class feels accelerated so if you can't keep up, you're not gonna have a nice outcome.
She seems like a pretty nice person, but the structure of the class is heavily reliant on group work. I feel like for a math course, this much group work wasn't necessary. It seemed like it was emphasized more than her instructing the class.
More than half of our precalculus class failed. Rarely anyone passed the exams they were fully long answer. She does not curve but on the plus side she's kinda funny. definitely entertaining. Let her be your last option.
This professor is a nightmare. She doesn't take time to make sure you actually understand anything. asks if you have anymore questions, then not even a second later she's moved on by 20 questions. Asks general open ended questions and remains silent until someone says the right answer. Gives tests that are nothing like the reviews. Stay Away.
not willing to pass you, class 41% of the class passed. please save yourself a wasted semester
I cannot stand this class. She gives 200 homework questions every week/other week. Her tests are hard since she doesn't teach. She gives multiple quizzes a week, and at the end, she gives timed trig quizzes and gives you less time for each quiz. She doesn't care if you know it or not and doesn't teach foundational knowledge- like the equations
I read these reviews thinking “Oh she can't be that bad.” And you might be in that same position as me before I had her. But yes, she is that bad. Terrible teaching, heavy amounts of homework, quizzes and tests are incredibly difficult, trig quizzes are timed, some for only ONE MINUTE. Can confidently say this is the worst professor I've ever had.
Coming from someone who is barely passing and might fail, she is not as bad as people say on here. Note cards are allowed on tests, and the final you get a whole sheet of paper. She goes out of her way outside of class to make sure you understand the material. The quizzes are done as a group so it's free and the 1–3-minute trig quizzes are easy.
Overall, the class wasn't too hard; my grade was lower due to my poor concentration. We had ten homework assignments, five tests (one dropped), and several quizzes (five dropped). Extra points were available unless you missed 4 days during the semester. Adamson didn't teach but rather wrote out problems, so go through the chapter before class.
Genuinely one of the worst teachers ive had. If you have any learning disabilities like ADHD or dyslexia then do not take this class. She goes too fast and expects you to know the material already beforehand
If my boyfriend wasn't in calculus 2, I probably would have failed this class. Hope this helps! Seriously though, unless you're good at math I would highly recommend a tutor for this class. She does care about her students, and I would take advantage of her office hours for help.
If you're on the fence about this, just don't. I have never struggled in school let alone a math class until this one. It is incredibly fast-paced, with no clear explanation of topics, the homework load is overwhelming, and tests/quizzes are difficult. By the end of November, only about 50% of ALL (not just my class) of her students were passing.
I've never done so badly in math in my life. She goes WAAAYYY too fast, and the tests and quizzes so far aren't taught or on the homework or anything. The tests are timed and there's not enough time at all. Be prepared to teach yourself everything and still fail. I'm so stressed bro
Actually the worst professor i have ever had. If you see her as an option, avoid at all costs. Way to fast and makes absolutely no sense. teaches as if you already know what you are doing, tells you the only way to slow her down is to ask questions, but when you try to, she ignores you. basically DO NOT TAKE HER!!! DO NOT!!! im warning you.
Professor Carla's class can be quite challenging, but using resources like Unstuckstudy alongside the textbook can really help. Attend all lectures and do extra credit to boost your grade. While tests are tough, the class is organized and predictable.
Ms. Adamson is always available outside of class if you need help. She goes through each problem super-fast, so it's hard to take notes sometimes. She gives quizzes every week that don't always match what she teaches. And all of the homework assignments are 50-70 problems.
Resourceful. She drops the lowest test grade and lowest five quizzes (of 15 quizzes!!!). She encourages questions throughout the lecture, and to email her if needed. The HWs are definitely long but prepare you for the test very well. In my opinion, the only people ranking her low probably just did not pay attention!!!
All I have to say is that she genuinely should not be teaching. Do not take her class. She needs to get a degree in something else or find another passion because this is not the thing she's good at doing teaching wise and should do something else with her life. I hope she checks these and gets a reality check fr. Genuinely the most awful teacher.
im currently in her class right now, i would recommend not taking her class whatsoever. she very fast paced, she literally shows how SHE knows how to do it, and doesn't actual teach us how to solve the problems, then she moves onto the next question instantly after she done. i could go on and on why she a bad teacher. 5 test that make no sense
Where to even begin she's terrible her whole teaching way is extremely bad I can barely understand what's going on she just solves problems from the textbook gives you little to no information on actually explaining what we're learning just assumes everyone will understand it. Also assigns a lot of homework about 110 questions avg. please avoid!!!!
She's really not as bad as people say. Show up, pay attention, be engaged, do the homework, and you'll be fine. If you get confused, just email her or talk to her before class. You get what you put in with her.
She's not a terrible teacher, but she teaches directly out of the textbook and goes through each problem fast. But she'll always allow questions after each problem, and is available outside of class or by email. The major tests weigh way more than the homeworks, in class quizzes and trig quizzes and the major tests can be very difficult to pass.
She teaches directly from the textbook and rushes through each problem. The major tests weigh like 90% of the total grade and they are very hard to pass because the free response questions weigh more than multiple choice. I did well on homework's, in class quizzes, and trig quizzes and still couldn't pass her class because of the major tests.
I take back everything I said. This semester was a struggle the whole way through and I felt like I was holding on by a thread with this woman. The final came and we all got decimated. Instead of thinking that maybe the material wasn't delivered in a good way, she sent us a scathing email saying, in her own words, "Well that was horrible."
Assumes you know half the material, extremely fast-paced, LOTS OF HOMEWORK. Study guides are nothing like her tests, which are extremely difficult in themselves. SHE SHOULD NOT BE TEACHING.
Im here to help people get a clear understanding. If you have trouble understanding math choose a different Prof. She is very fast paced and I love fast-paced content so for me she was the perfect professor and she is always available after class for additional studies. Homework isn't hard at all if you know the content and is amazing practice#TMYK
She's patient and interactive. Just wish attendance wasn't a part of class credit.
she is extremely fast-paced. if you have a hard time with math, DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Attendance is mandatory and has tons of homework. the study guides are nothing like the test and the test are hard themselves. If you miss 1 short-answer question on the test, it will drop your grade nearly 2 letter grades.
I have always been very good at math until this class. She teaches extremely fast and when you try to ask questions, she doesn't answer them clearly. I have hundreds on all homework's, quizzes, and trig quizzes, and then the exams are NOTHING like what she teaches or assigns. Her class is extremely difficult.
as a person that loves math, dont take this class. she teaches like we have taken 5 calculus classes before and doesnt explain anything. she just does the problems on the board and talks so fast that by the time we finish writing the problem, we retained no information
Very fast paced class. Reviews are nothing like the tests. When you ask a question in class she doesn't full answer or explain it. Attendance is mandatory, she's makes you take so many quizzes throughout the semester. Lots of homework but it's not too difficult. Overall I would never take this class again.
Honestly she teaches at a very fast paced. The homework and quizzes aren't too bad but her test do not match with the reviews. She post at least three reviews for you to practice and each one is different from what she taught.
She was kind of rude and a lot of work was given. Quizzes almost everyday, and a heavy amount of homework. She gives a lot of extra credit, but you can't get it if you miss four or more classes. And she does not take any excuses because “in the really world a job won't take excuses.” Attendance is mandatory and class is 4 times a week.
I have always loved math and this professor changed that. So much homework is given. Your grade is essentially based off of your exams, as a class most averages didn't reach above a 60 because her reviews and homework don't match the tests or what she teaches. She is also rude, I would never take this course again
She's very fast paced, and if you have questions she's kinda rude when answering them and makes you feel stupid. She offers a lot of extra credit. The reviews she gives for the tests don't help much. We had class 4 days a week and there's a lot of quizzes, one almost every day.
