Kind of a waste of time class. Powerpoint lectures are a bore. Carla's really sweet and makes for a delightful/entertaining class period-unfortunately, the subject material is lame. Easy A.
Nice teacher, easy grader, had virtual assignments
Easy Easy Easy...Carla's very nice and doesn't expect too much at all. 2 Projects that are not much work, easy midterm, and mindless final...Plus, she cancels a lot of classes for you to work on your group projects. Take her.
This class is such a bore. I had my classmate pinch me everytime i fell asleep- which was quite often. Carla, on the other hand, knows her stuff and is really helpful if your feeling overwhelmed with the subject material. The class itself needs to be revised by the department; it's too FREAKIN' easy
most easy yet boring class ever. if you can't get an A in this class, you should not be in college. projects are easy, virtual assignments super easy. final- she gives it to you as a study guide. the final took me 10 minutes, i swear. best blow off class ever.
This is the easiest class ever. Once you get past the midterm the class is a joke. Easiest A ever.
She is a knowledgeable teacher. I found her to be fairly difficult. You have to read the book and come to class. The exams are also pretty difficult. I ended up with around a B- or so. You have to pay attention if you want a good grade. She is ok overall
Waste of time and energy
She is an excellent instructor. She realizes that you have to balance multiple classes, study, work AND she still makes the lecture interesting. She is the best instructor I have ever had.
SOooooooo EASY, You don't even have to come to class as long as you print all the slides she puts on blackboard.DON'T bother buying the book, she summarizes everything on her slides.TESTS ARE SOOOO EASY,2 projects EASY & NO CHALLANGE. EASSSSSSSSSSYYYYYYYYYY

The worst teacher I have had at DePaul. Very condescending and moody. Subject matter is pointless and she requires you to strictly memorize. Group projects are an inconvenience and are pointless. Take her if you like being treated like a first grader and like to think like your in first grade.
She is nto that hard, but if take her beware that your mind may go numb after a while. All you do is memorize pointless terms and you never really learn anything usefull... but she is easy
Way too much busy work and tedious group projects, first quiz and midterm are hard, final is a joke, I'd recommend another professor over this one, if you are looking for something easy
Wow, I don't think she even knows what she's saying half the time. Did not learn one thing in class, i knew everything beforehand from going on AOL when I was in 7th grade.
She is also listed under McKenzie. Henderson is her maiden name.
she is such a ****. she is very inconsiderate and also unorganized. she doent know half the stuff she teaches herself. she would fail her own midterm.
Way overrated, doesnt respond to emails, 5 projects, quiz, midterm, final, rattles off mass info at end of class to get through, not nice to students, always sarcastic
She's not hard. As long as you go over the powerpoints, follow her instructions, you'll be fine. Projects are super easy. Its not neccessary to get the book either. I would take her again. She's easy.
worst teacher ever taken at DePaul. Big attitude problem and thinks she's something.
This class is really no stress. Projects are easy. There is a quiz which is kinda hard, the midterm is the same and the final is SUPER EASY. The test questions are created from the powerpoint but she can be tricky!!!! Good class
CLASS IS NOT THAT HARD, BUT SHE MAKES IT HARDER THEN IT SHOULD BE. PROJECTS ARE EASY AS LONG AS YOU FOLLOW HER CRAZY DIRECTIONS WORD FOR WORD. SHE IS IN A BAD MOOD ABOUT 90% OF THE TIME. CANCELS CLASS A LOT. SHE IS ALSO BIG ON GROUP PROJECTS. OVERALL NOT THAT BAD OF A CLASS.
Not one of DePaul's finest. She knows the subject matter but that is basically the extent of it. Sometimes she seems to be on the borderline between ditsy and slow. Also her course is a lot of memorization some of which seems to just be to fill up some space and nothing more. I wouldn't recommend her class unless it was a last resort.
This instructor is a little slow... She knows what she is talking about but can confuse the mess out of you. Plus she is condescending, and the sound of her voice can be a little irritating at times. I would only take her class if all the really good Profs have been taken already.
If you are not an MIS major do not take her for this class. This class is required for commerce students, yet she makes it very difficult. Also, when she hands back grades, she does not put a single mark as to why you may have not received full credit. She just pulls a number out of her head and writes it on your paper. Very boring class.
The teacher is not totally to blame for the suckness of this class. Part of it is that this class is the most pointless, remeidal waste of money I have ever experienced. Carla does not make it much better, though she does try. The projects are pretty easy but her tests are ment for photographic memories and she grades based on her mood.
This class should not be difficult but some how this **** managed to make tuff. Do yourself a favor and get a different teacher cause she sucks big time baby!!!
People are being way too harsh...her class is laid back...you always know where you stand and you always know what is expected on projects, tests, quizzes, etc
Stay away!!!!
Horrible, horrible teacher! The material shouldn't be that hard, but her teaching style isn't clear and she's unfair which makes the class SUCK! Don't take her unless you have to and DON'T buy the book!
She is really tough and unclear. He quiz was made in a way that didn't help the student at all! She is so unclear that she tends to confuse herself even though she does know the material. Wouldn't recomend her!
THe class sucks but it's not the professor's faults... easy quizzes and tests.. provides study guides so there's really no excuse not to get an A.... curves and really looks out fo reveryone in the class.. A+
Her class projects are fun and you learn a lot. I passed the IT section of the CIA exam because of her class. She knows her stuff and she uses her real-life examples to help you appreciate what the book is saying.
Boring class, boring material and as much as she says she has years experience in the field, well, it doesn't show. All of the examples she uses are from the text so if she really has all of the experience she says she has, why isn't she talking about that? Nice curve though. Boring power point class. Not too hard, but there are better options.
OK, Listen flat out this is the worst teacher ever. She will talk about her kids, her dog, her husband, her father teaching her to still when she was little, anything but something usefull that you can learn. People, seriously it is gona be your worst nightmare ever. She is very very very hard on grading, the class is boring, and she's bad.
I never thuoght that I will have a such bad teacher. She doesn't know much, she doesn't know how to teach and on the top of all she is such a hard, tough grading teacher. If you diserve a A, trust me you will get a C, or a -B at the most. Clearly do not take this teacher for any kind of class.
I took this class, thinking that is an easy one, like everyone said. Well, she makes it look like hell. She's killing you with an tone of work projects, in teams, very very very hard exams and quizes. It is a killer. Do not heve her as a techer, she is gone kill you, flat out. On the top of everything she does not know how to teach. She is bad.
Use a good piece of advise: do not take her as a teacher for anything. She is by far the worst teacher that I ever had. She is a mean person, very arrogant, she takes time off for herself and she is very hard on grading. The quizes are just as hard as the final, and she will kill you with group projects. She is a very bad choice for this calss.
Great class and Carla is a good instructor. She makes the class easy enough for those who aren't in the IT field. If you don't pass her class or able to do the work, you're doing something wrong.
DO NOT LISTEN TO WHAT EVERYONE ELSE SAYS!!! Carla rocks my socks!!! She is AWESOME! So easy. Seriously, if you don't pass her class, something is wrong. Everything comes directly from the slides, and she's super funny. Class was very interesting. I loved her. I wish I could take her for another class! No need to buy the book! Thanks Carla!
First--DONT BUY BOOK. she teaches from the powerpoint handouts. She is hard to reach if you have questions and she is also very unprepared. But its a easy class and if you have some knowledge of MIS, you'll get and A.
Class is boring, but she is trying to make it interesting, she explains everything very clear, and it is easy to get an A in her class if you do all the work. She tells you everything that will appear on the quiz or final - if you study everything she says it will be an easy class for you
most of class is common sense. she does not compromise on grades. rather easy but tests can be tricky. don't buy the book!!! she uses all power point slides. i read only the first chapter and got a B
Carla is an alright teacher. She teaches straight from powerpoint, which contains the same material as the book. Study the powerpoints and notes and the tests/quizzes will be easy. If she knows you name by the end of the quarter, you will get the participation points. (get on her good side) Overall, this was an ok class.
So shes late to class 10 minutes everyday and you cant reach her outside of class. But, if you print the handouts she gives you and study them, you will get an A. She nice and kinda fun and crazy. Not very reliable, but her class is easy. If you dont get atleast a B, its definitely your fault.
wow. They WORST professor at depaul BY FAR. How DePaul let this woman have a job is beyond me...do yourself a favor and stay away from this ...thing (she looks more like a man if u ask me)
Carla is a GREAT professor. I appreciate an instructor that can present the material and relate it to a real setting. Overall, excellent job at making a required course interesting and useful.
This professor is AWESOME. As a student at DePaul for the past 5 years . . . I haven't had an instructor that was this interesting with LOTS of stories to tell about the material. I personally want an instructor to teach from the notes so I know what to study; not those that expect me to GUESS about the TEST! Excellent JOB!
Carla's class is interesting, even when I didn't want to come to class . . . I still enjoyed it. I often tell her that I hadn't had a professor like her. She makes the class appealing even if the subject matter is tough.
Don't buy the book..waste of money! She is unorganized, and grades very hard. There are 4 projects in this class. First half of the quarter is confusing, but afterwards it gets easier...
Carla is a GREAT professor! She definitely makes the make the class interesting; even if you are NOT interested. She knows her stuff!
She does a good job at keeping you into the subject matter. She also uses stories to help reinforce the complex content!
Mrs. Henderson is pretty good. Don't listen to other bitter classmates on this site. I reviewed study guides and notes . . . and got a B+. She's very good.
Wouldn't recommend this class, however the material is easy. The problem is that the tests can be tricky. You need to study EVERYTHING from her Powerpoint presentations. We didn't use the book so that was a total waste of money. Had projects every week which counted for 20% of grade. Good thing is that you always know where you stand in the class.
She is so mean. She picks up little mistakes. Never use textbook. I have chance to an A, however I got 2 out of 10 pts of participation pts even I attend every single class. It makes me got an B-. I hate her class. A lot of work load.
Probably one of the worst professors at DePaul, claims she has so much experience in the industry but it never showed. A complete airhead.
This class is very easy because she teaches straight from the powerpoint slides. You are not required to get the book which is awesome. But, she is not the brightest teacher. Take her if you want an easy grade.
The class itself is easy but she is a horrible teacher. She talks about all the experience she has had in the MIS industry but for some reason I don't see it. We would ask the simplest questions and she couldn't comprehend the question itself. She should not be teaching.
TAKE MIS WITH HERE! She is extremely nice and helpful. She wants everyone to get an A and does everything she can to make it as easy as possible. She gives you the exact test questions and people really complain!? She tries to make not so interesting topics seem enjoyable.
Lousy Professor, favors woman and she reads this. Maybe now she'll know we all hated her. Avoid her if you want to actually learn.
Lousy Professor, favors woman and she reads this. Maybe now she'll know we all hated her. Avoid her if you want to actually learn.
She is awesome. The class is tough. I'm guessing those hatred didn't do very well. She practically gives you the answers from her study guides and is funny. Don't be fooled MIS is a hefty class. She made it easy.
This teacher is so rude, she needs to be more patient. I went to her office twice and she was so annoyed. Your job is to help us thats y we are paying your salary lady
Tells you exactly what you need to do for quizzes, exams, projects...practically gives you the answers beforehand. Only thing, she talks extremely loud so class is a bit rough to sit through.
Great Professor. Very funny, knows her material. Enjoys teaching. Do not buy a book because her powerpoints is all she wants you to know. Study exactly from powerpoints and you will get an A. For projects, make sure you don't miss any little detail she asks for.
Class was easy, McKenzie was easy too. The class was boring though.
Pointless to be in class, everything is on PowerPoint slides. If you got a good memorization; congrats you'll get an A. If you don't, better read every slide few times because everything on the slides is on the quizzes and exams. Overall, easy class but requires good memorization. Too many questions on the midterm. Teacher is very helpful.
DO NOT BUY BOOK. Carla creates great power points, which are the only thing you need to get an A in the class. Carla is very bright and makes class exciting. This material is not an easy subject, it takes memorizing the slides to get an A, but everything you need to know to get an A on the quizzes and tests is given to you through her lectures.
Completely weird professor. She will not comprehend the simplest questions you ask her, which results in the question being repeated so many times! Full of herself, cocky, do yourself a favor and avoid her.
The class was eh....A lot of potential to learn a lot in this class, but she is so focused on stupid definitions that are not applicable in 2013 for technology. Like was is floppy disk still term she teaches? Wish I could have learned more, but I basically relearned excel tricks I already knew. Also, do not buy book, her powerpoints suffice.
She's such a nice lady! The class is not exactly hard, you just have to really study the study guide. 2 announced quizzes, 2 excel 1 access projects, 1 easy group project, participation and attendance count. If you're not familiar with excel and access, come to class on the day she shows you how to do it! Don't buy the book
Carla's a great professor. Don't believe the other reviews. You don't need the textbook and she is super clear as to what she will ask on the midterm, quizzes, and final. It's very doable and very managable. She is a great lady that has a good sense of humor. She can be sassy but students are often annoying in the manner they ask questions.
First off, don't buy the book for this class because you will never use it. This was a very easy class where the Professor did everything she could to ensure your success in the class. She has a big personality as well so classes will catch your interest and make you laugh. I would recommend to a friend.
The tests are very easy. Just review the slides before the exam and you should end up with a good grade. Her projects can be tough because when she explains how to do them she goes very quickly and it's easy to get lost. However, if you go to your office hours she'll show you the ropes again.
Print class notes and attend and you'll be fine. No reading from the book, she makes it as simple as she can by using powerpoint. She genuinely likes teaching and her students at DePaul; highly recommend taking her for Management Information Systems
Professor Henderson was awesome. She is so nice and fun each lecture was entertaining. The course contained 2 quizzes, midterm, final, and group project. Don't buy the book everything on the tests comes directly from her slides. She makes everything clear to you. Would definitely recommend her. She curves test scores a lot. Let's you out early
Really easy class. Don't buy the textbook. go over the powerpoint slides and you are good.
Carla is amazing. Her lectures are fun and I truly enjoyed going to her class. She gives you everything you need to know for her tests and quizzes. Don't buy the book, her powerpoint slides have everything. There were 6 small projects, 2 quizzes, a midterm & final. You do have to put in the effort to get an A but she makes it really easy. TAKE HER!
There are 5 projects, 2 quizzes, midterm, and final. For the exams, basically know everything on the powerpoint slides. The midterm was much more difficult than the final. She is nice, but could never understand anyones questions and ended up having them repeated many times. For projects, take down everything she says to do.
She isnt clear at all . Isnt clear during lecture
One of the strangest teachers I have ever had, very full of herself. Although her class is not hard, she is all across the board and can't understand students simple questions. I would not take a class with her ever again.
Hated every minute of this class
She has a hearing impairment so that explains the clarity issues other students have been positng. Her class is very easy. She tells you everything you need to know for the tests and projects. As long as you follow instructions you will get an A+.
Good luck. She's very unclear about things. She'll give you less than 100 for participation but won't even give you a chance to talk during lecture. It's easy but you'll learn nothing. Course contents are pretty irrelevant which isn't her fault but i really did not enjoy this class. It's literally all powerpoint. DONE BUY THE BOOK
Prof. Mckezie has knowledge of the slides that she teaches and not much variation from that. Vaguely answers questions, is unprofessional and condescending. You've been forewarned, good luck.
Get on her good side and make sure she knows you and you will be fine. The quizzes and exams are easy as long as you memorize what you need from the slides, you don't need the book. The projects did take a lot of time and she's very picky about what she wants, but she will check your projects in advanced to make sure everything is ok.
While the material isn't all the difficult, if you are not familiar with excel be prepared to catch on fast. She is a very tough grader and doesn't give much time to complete labs. She gets very anxious and gives a lot of attitude to students. The test are very specific and short answer questions are difficult to get right. I Don't recommend her!
Lab assignments every Wednesday and a homework assignment due every week. Five exams total, and one group project. Seems very irritable when asking for help with lab assignments. Class is not very hard as long as you study. No need for the book, her power point presentations will suffice. Would not take again because of her slight attitude problem
Good luck if you're taking this class with no experience in excel. She gives you insufficient time to complete the in class labs as well as giving attitudes to students in the manner they ask questions. Even asking a simple question, she'll make you look dumb. Not recommended for those who are beginners.
She's a nice person but has trouble hearing. Literally know EVERYTHING on the slides to pass the exams. Makes this class harder than it should be, doesn't give enough time to take exams (quizzes) and complete the lab, I feel so stressed out after her class. Made me reconsider my major in MIS. Has trouble with computers and is never prepared.
I have never actually rated a professor before; however, I have never experienced a professor so sexist, condescending, irritable, disrespectful and rude until I took Carla Mckenzie's class. The negative reviews are spot on. She has detailed presentations but has no knowledge outside those boundaries. I am shocked DePaul has a professor like this.
I did very well in the class yet I'm still writing a review on Prof McKenzie. First, don't buy the book. In terms of her class, nothing is clear. She will change the criteria on her projects as she sees fit. She doesn't like being asked questions. Her tests are abnormally hard, regardless of how you study. I would never take her again. D- Professor
everyone was always confused, directions are changed last minute, good luck getting clear criticism, will take off random points for just about anything she sees fit... avoid if possible
Her tests are very hard but overall she really tries to explain the material. Grade is made up of labs, homework (labs), tests, and one group project. Group project was awesome. The labs are a little tough if you never used Microsoft before. Just get help outside of class when your doing a lab. The tests are really rough. You gotta study the ppts.
Carla is okay. Many students fail labs because she burns through all the lab time lecturing and does not allow you to complete lab work outside of class. You may also not finish tests because of this. Also, she is hard of hearing which makes class much harder than it needs to be. Avoid if possible, but overall she's not terrible sans these quirks.
Carla intentionally does not bring her hearing aids to class, so she has trouble hearing students. This makes no sense. Her assignments are tedious, and you don't really learn about Excel's software. You do learn how she wants everything exactly formatted for an A. She is definitely trying and caring, but her class can definitely be improved.
Carla is a very nice women. No one should get below a B in this class in my opinion, as long as you do all the assignments. She usually gives about two weeks to get projects done and they usually take 30-60 min to do. It's not a hard class nor does she make the class hard its just a lot of information.
She is a solid professor. She heavily curves tests so if you fail an exam you should consider the fact that college is not for you. Lectures are boring as she reads off slides most of the time but she tries to be upbeat and lively. Labs are once a week and are a bit rushed. I would still recommend her as she wants to see you do well.
Excellent professor. I don't know why everyone is complaining. IF you put forth the effort then it's an easy A. Only one complaint is wish she had hearing aids because you have to repeat yourself several times for her to understand.
Mediocre at best. The content of the course itself is irrelevant, and that is not her fault. However, she makes an unbearable class even more unbearable. I do not know how she continues to teach at DePaul. Avoid.
If you go to class most the time but, miss a few days here n there, you will be fine. I studied the night before every test of hers and managed a B+. She can be bossy towards students. Otherwise, just study the power point notes and I guarantee you will pass. She is slightly above average. Not a bad option if the class fits your schedule.
Brutish, heavy-handed, and all the wrong kinds of snark. That is Carla H. in one sentence. Miss one question? Whole assignment is a zero. Absolutism, consequentialism, and colonialism defined this class. Moving forward, I must take steps to change, because Carla's methods will not. Let this be a warning to all you who come after. God be with you.
Pretty dysfunctional teacher. Her assignments are long, confusing, and harshly graded. She is picky over things that she is very vague on.
Memorize the slides! You have a exam every week based on slides. There are 2/3 extra credit questions on each text. Memorize the slides and you will get A+. She takes up the whole class time. You will never leave early. She has lab assignments, lectures and quiz. Shes funny teacher and as long as you memorize the slides you will get an A.
No idea why all these comments are bashing this professor. P. Henderson is an amazing professor! Study the slides, her quizzes are literally the slides. Practice the excel projects, labs are literally the previous excel projects. Nothing is hard unless you put no time or effort. You have to study, nothing is free. Don't buy the book
Carla Henderson-McKenzie is very rude and is not aware of time. She expects all of her students to know how to perform what she is doing in one try on the in-class labs which are timed. Also, you have one quiz a week, which covers the entire chapter. If you have photographic memory than good for you. They consist of T/F, Matching and short answer.
All the quizzes are from the slides of that week. Other than that her class is pretty easy you just need to pay attention to her lectures and her videos.
If you follow along with what the professor does in class on excel, the projects are super easy and barely take any time. The quizzes are also pretty easy if you really study the powerpoints. Easy class to follow along with and get a good grade if you just do everything.
Not sure how she teaches other classes, but I'd recommend her for anyone taking MIS140. She makes her lectures pretty funny which makes it easier to focus, teaches useful excel tips and tricks from the assignments she gives (I often apply her tips to other classes that involve excel work), and is pretty empathetic and caring towards her students.
