The material isn't very hard if you do the homework, which there is an ample amount of. On tests, she gives you the option to do corrections for the problems you got wrong so you can gain back some points.

Essentially a hard class, but Hill makes it more interesting. Lots of work, easy grader. Let's you bring notes into the test. Must pay attention, or you can screw yourself over.

EASY AS ANYTHING! TAKE HER! really helpful, really easy material if you follow her, everything is "unwieldy" though (according to her), same tests as past years so jus find sum1 who has her tests!! It's math, so boring? Of course, but just do the work, and correct your TESTS!!!!! Final is difficult

very nice lady. however the two final weeks of the semester is unbelivably ridiculous. we had a test, three hand in assignments worth 30 pts a piece, a final presentation which is a project, an essay, and a final all in two weeks. If you wangt to deal with that than go ahead but i recommend NO!

Very nice lady. Talks with a bit of a lisp, but you'll get used to it. Had 10 hand-in assignments. Some were pretty difficult, but you can email her questions about it and she'll point you in the right direction. Can have a cheat sheet for all tests. Can do test corrections to get 1/3 of the points back.

Good teacher and very fair on grading. Assignments can be long and some are very easy. 3 essays during class just to see how and what your doing in class. An easy 30 points...

understands that math is not our only class, accepts late work with no questions asked, prepares you for tests, and gives extra help whenever you ask. Also, teaches you how to use calculators to get answers, and on tests you can use the calculator. Classes are not exactly riveting, but i definitely recommend this class to any who wants an A or B

Very good math teacher, one of the best I've ever had.

Solid teacher, one of the first math classes i've takin without it being excruciatingly boring. She knows what she is talking about and extremely nice, if you put the work in you will get the grade.

Stats Class - Professor Hill is outstanding. She makes a boring subject bearable. She grades relatively easy & lets you hand in test corrections for extra points. You must take her class.

Professor Hill is a easy teacher who is very helpful. There are 4 tests (one of which was a take home and you can do tests corrections), a final project, easy online homeworks(she drops some of these), hand in assignments, and a final. Overall I learned a lot, and the class was pretty easy. She usually lets you out of class 15 minutes early.

love this woman. really easy class and she makes it impossible to do bad. you can redo homework and she always provides really comprehensive review sheets. if you still dont get the material you can meet with her too. you can skip a few classes without a real penalty, as long as you do the work. def take her if math isn't really your thing.

Nice teacher but sometimes goes to fast for an intro level class. Also, there is too much work but sometimes will help you. The online homework can be useful compare to the handouts which sometimes can be confusing. Also, we never really used the textbook for any work.

interesting subject matter. fair and direct teacher. you know how some classes are like sliding across a very splintery wooden floor against the grain? this is not one of them...easy flowing if you do the work.

Definitely worth taking, especially for Excursions! She's apparently easier with that than her other classes. She has a habit of droning on and on in a loud monotone voice, but if you can get past that, it's an easy A. Minimal work, and she helps you out a great deal. Just ask her in class or after, and it'll all make sense.

Prof. Hill is a great teacher. I highly recommend taking her to anyone. There are 4 exams (1 is a take-home exam) and you can always correct them. The online homework is ok and the handouts can be a little confusing. She is always available to help you.

She does give a lot of work, but as long as you get it into her by the end of the semester, you're fine. She's ALWAYS willing to meet with you outside of class and basically will do the homework for you. She is just wonderful.

If you hate math but need a course, take her for excursions. Her lectures are a little dry, but the projects she assigns are easy/sorta fun.You can even write a paper, if you're English-oriented. Allows you a cheat sheet with formulas during tests. Will meet with you outside of school if you need help. Patient, enthusiastic, very nice person.

Very nice teacher. Loves athletes. Not too much homework, quizzes and tests are not that hard either.

Extremely helpful. Her lectures might be dry but she lets her students out early and does not mind helping. Allows cheat sheets and other worksheets to use for the tests. Great Teach and you learn alot about Statistics. Even if you don't like math, take Prof Hill. Alot of work but if you get it done by the last day of classes, you will be fine.

Pretty good professor I supposed. I wasn't a huge fan of her teaching, but it was effective. Professor Hill's Discrete Math class is easy and she's really generous with getting extra points and improving test scores. She's really nice, but you just have to get used to her voice...

I have taken her for discrete and pre calc. If you are not a math person like I am, she is the better teacher to take above all others. Both classes aren't easy, so you have to work hard at it. She provides you with a ton of extra help. Allows you to bring in an entire sheet for the tests. Highly recommended especially if you don't like math.

Professor Hill is an awesome teacher. She really cares about her students and wants them to do well and is always available for extra help. Gives projects which are versatile. You can write a two page pare or do an art project. Definitely take her for your core requirement. You will be glad you did. Love her

This class was super easy and I did take it online. Professor Hill is very helpful and there are multiple opportunities to improve your grade throughout the course! I definitely recommend it !

She's a great professor. Although I didn't take online, most of her lectures are through videos, during class it's just group projects. If you fall behind you can go to her office hours and she will help you catch up with online homework, maybe even extend it. As long as you show up for class, and show effort, it's an easy A.

This first year seminar was not my first choice but was something i was sorta interested in and am really happy i was put into this one. She is extremely nice, and she lets you out early every single class, and it is not a lot of work. A couple of presentations, a couple of extremely easy papers. She is very nice and understanding... recommend!

I hated this class. It was an easy A but it was a long semester. Instead of learning about money, which was the topic of the class, it was basically presentation 101. We didn't learn about anything with money. She also decided to become our english teacher with papers, in which she "corrected" things that were already correct.

Took this class to prepare for Discrete Math and Calc I. Glad I did! She is helpful, explains things.

This class was a joke. It you want an easy fys class take carla hill we barely do anything and have no tests. only a few presentations and paper but over all an easy A if you show up to class.

Amazing teacher, took her for stats and was extremely helpful for someone who struggles with math.

She's the best!! It's a lot of work when you take stats online, I fell behind so many times to the point I had to pull several all nighters prior to finals week to catch up on the material. I was always in touch with her & letting her know what was going on & from seeing how hard I was working she did help me out in the end & I got an A :)

Carla Hill is a great professor to have if you are looking to fulfill a requirement. As long as you pay attention in class and do the work, you will get a good grade.

I took her for Life Skills. There are no tests. There are three big papers and three projects (powerpoint along with papers with each) that you have to do . Attendance is mandatory and can have a huge impact on your grade. She is also very caring and accessible outside of class. When I was going through a difficult situation, she was understanding.

Professor Hill was very nice and cared about her students. The course is called "life skills" and we learned about interesting/important topics such as buying a car, getting a credit card, and investments. I highly recommend the course. No texboook, no quizzes, no exams.

She wants you to do the best in her class so she will help you if you ask for it. Shes a great professor. However, if you dont read the assignments you will not learn in class. But Mostly is self learning. She gives cheat sheets for exams! The lectures can get boring because its monotoned, but shes great outside of class. Go to office hours!!

Prof. Hill is a great lady and the FYS class "Life Skills" was a good fun and easy class to start your freshman year. There are no tests, very few homeworks, but there is a lot of easy 2-page papers that have to do with the books she makes you get before the semester begins. She is a very hard grader though that is her only flaw. Love her though

Probably the easiest and most useful FYS class. She is very nice and the work load is not bad at all. Learn a lot of useful information with a few projects. Overall an easy, but interesting class. I would definitely recommend!

It was a good class. I took it all online since it was during COVID-19 college shut down but the class was still pretty reasonable. She gives you her phone number if you ever have questions and I would strongly suggest taking advantage. As long as she knows you're putting in effort and stay on task with assignments it's not that hard to get an A.

She is a great professor. very understanding if you are going through a difficult time. Gives test corrections to boost your grade too! If you are looking for a math class to take for your core, take this! it is a lot of assignments but they do not take long.

From what I've heard, she's the best in the stat department at marist. She's also very nice and an easy grader on tests. There's LOTS of HW. She lets you bring in-cheat cheats for exams but honestly, if you don't know the material then they're not that helpful.

Prof. Hill was the best math teacher I've ever had. Def recommend taking her for stats. I've never been a math person, but she explains everything very well for the most part. She gives a lot of HW, but if you're worried about how you will do on tests, you have those other assignments to help boost your grade.

The class was pretty easy, but there are homeworks and pre-class assessments (just more homework tbh) due before every class, which she grades strictly, which can be annoying. But the tests aren't bad, because we get to bring in a sheet with anything we want to write down to help us on the test, and we get test corrections.

Overall, she was a pretty alright professor. There are pre class and homework's almost every night, so it is a pretty big workload. She allows a cheat sheet and test corrections for the exams. WileyPLUS you have to buy, but she gives extra credit if you do the problems. She is a sweet lady very understanding.

Professor Hill was amazing. As someone who is not solid in math in general, she made statistics so easy to understanding. She provides an insane amount of resources to help students do well, plenty of review material for tests, etc. There is a lot of work, but she isn't that tough of a grader. Would absolutely take again.

There are 5 exams, 2 weekly HW assignments, 2 weekly preclass assignments, chapter projects, reflection papers and a final presentation. You can use calculators and tests are open notes. Its an easy A if you pay attention and do all the work.
