I absolutely love Ms. Sanchez! She is passionate about Anthropology & knows her stuff. The tests are difficult but she gives out extra credit and has video quizzes so there are several chances to make up your grade. She is always willing to help anyone in need and will answer any question you ask her. I would recommend her to everyone!
I love Ms. Sanchez! She is a dedicated and passionate professor. Her tests are difficult but as long as you read and pay attention in class you will be fine. She is fun and challenging and i would recommend her to everyone!
She is a good teacher. She uses powerpoints a lot and videos. Take notes on the videos. My major problems are that she is inconsistent in where the test questions come from (text more or lecture more), and that the class "discussion" gets off topic way too often and she doesn't take control.
Fun teacher but very scatterbrained. Her lectures are interesting, but not always relevant. Her test are hard and she makes it very unclear as to what she wants us to study beforehand. The extra credit however makes up for that. I went from a C to an A in her class because of extra credit.
In her defense this was her 1st semester teaching here in Texas, so this means we all were her pilot group for tests. Her lectures are awesome, and i love her stories about her in the field! She is passionate and pretty freaking cool, i may add. I got an A and so did the majority of the class, so good luck and take notes!
Prof. Sanchez is real nice and very interesting. Test were hard and a mix of book/in class lectures. Major paper due, start research early, but grades fairly easy on paper. Liked her so much taking her again for cultural Anthro. (don't even need it for my degree) Enough extra credit to raise your grade to almost a full letter grade.
Dr. Sanchez.....DR!!! She was great, the class was enlightening... Would take it again in the future.
This class was very interesting! Sanchez is a very peppy person and she is very experienced with what she does. The whole class was power points with a few easy videos that came with quizzes. The test very quite difficult but passable. The research paper at the end is passable too, just start on time! She's funny, and has a septum! Super chill!
Went into this class to complete science requirement. I came out of it in love with the subject.
Dr. Sanchez is awesome. She is so passionate about her subject. Test are hard, you have to study. Gives extra credit. You have to also read the book. Grades fair. Start early for your research paper. Highly recommend her.
Had an Internet problem while taking an online test and she did not seem to have any concern for my grade. She said she wouldn't reset my exam or give additional extra credit so i would have a chance at getting an A or a B. I will have to drop the class when it should be an easy A due to her lack of compassion for her students.
You can't go wrong assignments interesting. When they got difficult she explained in detail. In a understandable way. The course was a core requirement but now I am considering taking more.
Best distance learning course I've taken. Her Blackboard for the class is unbelievably well organized and so easy to understand and keep track of. No tests, but weekly quizzes worth 75 points each (of 1,000 total). You can take each quiz twice! Make sure your internet connection is good, she will NOT reset a quiz if it drops out during it!
Took her DL class. Read all the lectures, watch all the videos and you will pass. Her Blackboard discussions are pretty easy. I loved to see her views on the power points. Made things more interesting. You do have to write one paper, but she's a pretty lenient professor.
Her online course is very clear and easy to understand. She gives the work a week at a time, so no working forward. The discussion boards, the videos and her greeting every week on blackboard are refreshing. I would highly recommend this class. The tests are not easy and be sure you take really good notes.
Took her for physical anthro last semester and cultural this semester. Since she specializes in cultural, I feel like she explained things more in depth. Definitely liked cultural better. I never read the book, but probably should have. Gives film quizzes. Start her research paper early! She gave extensions both semesters but they still take time.
Took Cultural Anthropology as a DL course and loved the class. She uses power point slides to sum up the reading material, video lectures, video quizes, and a few written assignments. I enjoyed her class very much and would recommend her. Got a B and didn't keep up w reading
I took this class online. The reading isn't difficult, just time-consuming, but it's so interesting that you'll enjoy it. Her online tests were open book, about 2 hours time limit I think. If you've done the required reading and watched the assigned videos, it would be difficult to get a poor grade. Her PowerPoints are hilarious and help w tests.
Distance learning class to fulfill a requirement. Didn't return email, lots of weekly book reading, video watching, and power point reading. Weekly open book quizzes were hard,(passed 2 on first try with all reading done). Does allow 2 attempts to take each quiz Papers were easy, full marks given on both, but grades were slow. You'll work for an A.
Prof Sanchez is wonderful! Truly cares about her students. Interesting material. Not self paced. Not to much writing. 2 papers and 5 quizzes (5wk summer class). Interesting videos and power points. Weekly video updates, so you feel more connected. I didn't use txtbook. Great class, would recommend to anyone who needs this credit or as an elective.
She is my favorite teacher so far. She doesn't always grade timely but she is very understanding and will often work with you to help you pass her class. If you want to take this class (or any of her classes) TAKE NOTES.
Carleen Sanchez is a great teacher! I only took her distance learning cultural anthropology class so far but she grades fairly, gives reviews for tests, and doesn't give too much homework. The material was interesting and she seemed to do it justice. She didn't slack off on her job like most teachers do for their distance learning classes.
Come to class EVERY DAY because there will be many unannounced worksheets that are basically a guaranteed 100 (10 points each towards your total grade). If you need help with your grade, GO SEE HER in her office; she will do her best to help you to pass if you ask for her help. The lectures are enjoyable, but the tests are very hard so study a lot!
Fairly easy class, but it does require work and effort. Class consists of weekly discussion boards, film quizzes, power points, wikis, a couple of papers, and 3 exams. As long as you read the textbook, and study a bit you will do well on the exams. If not, you will fail your exam like I did, but I ended getting an A in the class with extra credit.
This is a solid professor. Everything is well explained. There is a pretty long research paper near the end, so that might be rough for some. The class was entertaining, and made interesting. Show up to class, and your grade will get plenty of boosts with in-class assignments, too.
She rocks. Her personality and humor are awesome and she used multiple types of media to teach us. The projects weren't too difficult, but did take accuracy and thought. Come open minded to anthro and don't argue with Sanchez, ever. You will find things you disagree with in the class but it's a great experience. Good notes are essential.
Weekly Folders containing the assigned chapter and other material. All 3 tests are online, each test covers 5-6 chaps, chaps are 40 pgs long, lots of pictures. Get the book online, on the other half of you screen open Word Notes doc, paste info as you read, leave doc open during the test and CTRL+F info. Easy tests just lots of ground to cover.
Very nice professor and an interesting topic. DL class: 5 tests (online, 2 opportunities to take each test), one wiki entry on an anthropologist, and a 7 page paper on a defined culture. Gives great feedback and seems to genuinely care. This is not a pushover class: work hard for your grade and learn something!
She is my favorite professor at ACC. Funny, knowledgable, and challenging. You will learn a lot from her lectures. If you show up to every class it is likely you will make an A or a B. A lot of in class assignments.
One of my favorite classes I've ever taken. Dr. Sanchez is of those professors with a no-nonsense attitude but still seems to genuienly care. Interesting & engaging assignments every week. Helped create a real classroom feel via discussion boards. Clear feedback & guidelines on everything. Highly recommended. This class was pretty hard but FUN.
I loved her physical anthropology class! She does a lot of worksheets in class, so even though attendance isn't mandatory you should still attend to earn points. Start your primate observation paper early, and make your own study guides. Often she will tell you things that will be on the test, so highlight those. I would take from her again.
Professor Sanchez is a good professor, straightforward with her expectations for assignments. The work isn't overly difficult, but not easy enough that it doesn't present an interesting challenge. I'd definitely recommend taking her class.
Awesome professor, always has fun lectures and interesting things in the class. The grading system is clear from the start so pay attention to it and you should make a good grade. Online quizzes are kinda hard so read the chapters carefully. I would take her again
I am taking Dr. Sanchez online and she's a wonderful teacher. Kind and a very understanding teacher. Her grading system is very clear and concise. She gives feedback telling you exactly what you did wrong and how you can improve. You will have to do a lot of work for the class. Make sure to read the textbook before you take a test.
Took Dr. Sanchez's online course for Summer session 1, and I loved her. I usually suck at online classes, but I got a 94, so that says something. Her slide lectures are engaging and are full of little pop culture references and puns to keep you interested. Everything was fairly easy, but there was a lot of reading . Would definitely recommend!
Took the summer online course, and it was great. Prof. Sanchez is truly knowledgeable, caring, and the course was totally manageable for my busy schedule. The primate research paper stressed me out, but I ended up making a good grade and it was the only assignment I was worried about. Really cool professor and interesting, simple course overall!
Took the 11-wk summer course. You can tell she loves the subject but doesn't make it overwhelming. Yes, lots of reading, but it's rewarding if you're interested in evolution. 2 attempts per weekly quiz. 1 long paper (7-pg. double-spaced), 1 short (750 words). Engaging videos/pwrpoints & easy forums. This course was both fun and life-changing!!!
Show up, take notes, do the essay, you'll be fine. She is entertaining but to the point, friendly but about business. Amazing professor.
I took Dr. S online. I even though it was online I enjoyed her class. Her grading policy and instructions are pretty clear and there is work to do but it's laid out nicely so it's hard to follow up. Everything is all organized and she responds and answers your questions. I would love to take her class again. LOVED Cultural Anthropology.
Dr.S is an awesome professor! You can really see how passionate she is about anthropology. She does give a lot of chapter quizzes so get ready to do some reading. Tests are moderate but you should still study. Also there is a primate research paper at the end of the semester that is a good portion of your overall grade. Would 10/10 take again!
Come to class everyday and get extra points to watching movies and doing short projects. If you miss class you miss these points. Fun class, she makes learning the topics more interesting then reading on your own. Major project grade this semester so be prepared to work for your grade. Allows a cheat sheet during tests
She is amazing I would take her for every class. It is an amazing class as long as you pay attention and follow her notes. She allows a cheat sheet for every test!
Professor Sanchez was wonderful. Her class was very interesting and she made her expectations clear for assignments. You will be reading a lot from the textbook, but she also gives power point lectures with fill in the blank notes over the information. She will tell you what will be on the exams from her power points so I would make notes of that.
Even though its an online class, Dr. Sanchez expertise shines through. You have to do your part and work for it, but I am so happy I got this class.
If you don't think you're interested in anthropology, think again. Dr Sanchez's class will change your life! She makes you work for it, but the insight you gain through the course is so rewarding. I really wish she taught at my campus but she still manages to be amazing as a distance learning professor.
Great professor, wants you to do well. She's funny and tells stories during lectures, you can tell she's passionate about Anthropology. Tests are difficult, but gives other opportunities to help raise your grade. Assigned a culture paper which was somewhat difficult (only academic sources) but improved my research skills, pick a culture you like!
Great professor! Lectures were really interesting and shes super funny. Tests cover a lot of information so youll have to study. Theres one long research essay where youll have to go to a zoo to collect your own data. Overall, great class!!
Really passionate, engaging, and casual professor! Tests are based from FREE txtbook readings and lectures. Study A. One research paper due at end of semester was easy and fun to write with very clear grading criteria. She is funny and silly, which keeps your attention during lectures!
This teacher does not believe in partial credit, extra credit, or late grades. Absolutely no leniency. Took 16 points off a paper because I "technically" did not reach a page minimum due to a formatting misjudgment--while I didn't expect full credit, she dropped my paper from a high A (essentially 100) to a low B. I made a B because I forgot a quiz
Professor Sanchez is highly educated in Physical Anthropology; she is so much fun to learn with. She has lectures and you follow along with her provided guided notes. There is one paper due in this class towards the beginning of the final trimester. Class attendance is MANDATORY; seriously. Her classes are engaging and fun, would totally take again
Professor Sanchez is amazing and you can tell that she really wants you to take away something from this class. The textbook is free and online (she provides the link) and it is NECESSARY to read it if you want a good grade on the quizzes. Make sure that you PARTICIPATE, PARTICIPATE, PARTICIPATE!!! It matters so much for DB's. Overall great class.
I took the 8 week online course. DON'T MISS A DEADLINE, if you do your work well and on time it's an easy A. Each week there is a 40 question multiple choice quiz, and a discussion topic where you create your own submission and respond to one other person. You also write two wiki assignments of at least 750 words for a C or 950 words for an A.
For someone with a Doctorate degree, Miss Sanchez lacks greatly in her ability to effectively communicate with her students. She will not discuss why she gave you the grade that she did, will give no feedback on how to improve, or how to get a better grade. She takes you asking her for help as you only wanting her to just give you a better grade.
She is a decent professor. My experience was terrible with her. She refused to meet with me to discuss my grades and she insulted me in an email when I wanted to talk about grades. You will have to fight for your grade. Her class is cool and youll learn interesting stuff, but take someone else if you get the chance.
Dr.S is really caring and the quizzes aren't hard at all just need to go through the slides and read the book, and the answers are usually pretty straight forward. As long as you do the two main projects and finish assignments on time you will do fine. An easy class and I had learned a lot.
Really, really fascinating class. Great professor with good feedback. Prof is easily accessible outside of class. Test heavy, but follows the given material so just pay attention to text and and slides and youll be fine!
Dr. Sanchez is extremely knowledgable on the subject of anthropology. The class is a lot of material but for tests in this course, you're allowed a study aid during the test which is great (probably would be failing if not for that). She's hilarious and makes the material way less boring and I would definitely recommend her!
I took Dr. Sanchez 16 week online course. The powerpoint lectures were very interesting and everything on it will be on the tests. I really enjoyed this online class.
Professor Sanchez was a great instructor, especially for being in an online environment. She was very responsive when needed and made the course material easy to understand after reading/videos/etc. Just wanna make sure you actually read the material because you can't really google her quiz answers lol,
Dr. S. is great! I completed her 5-week anthropology course with an A. Because the course was so condensed, we had a lot of reading and papers to do, but it wasn't too overwhelming. Dr. S. has a great sense of humor and is passionate about this interesting subject.
I really liked the way this professor structured her class! She really seemed like she took the time out of her life to make it as clear as possible what was expected to get an A. I was not only able to learn more about the subject of cultural anthropology, but I was inspired to take more courses like this one. I enjoyed this professor a lot!
Dr. Sanchez was a great professor! If you can take this class online, do it. The quizzes are straight from the textbook. As long as you're proactive and can write a bit, this should be an easy A.
You can tell she loves what she does. She's a great professor and provides great feedback. No exams, just discussion posts, quizzes, and an occasional writing assignment. If you read the textbook, nothing is difficult at all.
I absolutely loved this class! I learned a lot about cultural anthropology and became pretty intrigued with the class. You have to make sure to do all the work in order to get a good grade, but even then it's not that hard. She gives you 3 attempts on the quizzes which is a life saver.
Carleen Sanchez was hands down the WORST professor I've ever had. She's cruel and vindictive and mocks students for having any real life emergency situations. Horrible, avoid at all costs!
What you work for is what you get. She does not give extra credit or makeup assingments.
Took this asynchronous online and the quizzes you take are very hard. Super long and she gives so much material to go over to find the answers
Took her 5 week summer course. There was lots of reading, but the book was free and easy to understand. Shes got an orientation and 4 modules for each week made up of discussions and quizzes. Shes also got a 700 word paper. Its not a hard class just do the reading. You cant use the internet for help. Her instructions are clear though.
Forum work, lecture slides, and lots of chapters from the textbook, interspersed with more interesting stuff (feedback, videos, wikis, holidays). Tailored class to everyone's interests (medical anthropology, ethno-etiologies since our class was heavy on pre-med/bio students like me) and was generally helpful, though forum work gets boring quickly.
I loved this class with Dr. Sanchez. It included discussion boards, tests, and wiki papers. The written work was designed to be functional and not just busy work. I took the course because it sounded interesting and I needed a science credit. But this class really changed the way I think. Dr. S is accessible and encouraging. TAKE THIS ONE.
Super easy and straightforward directions. You don't have to make 100% on every single test to get a good grade. Just make sure the two projects meet all the requirements and you'll be good. 3 attempts on each quiz. I accidentally went over the amount of points needed to get an A, so a little effort is enough to pass for sure. She's also super cool
This class was okay. Material was broken up into modules with about 4 chapters per module. 4 quizzes per module and 1-2 discussion board posts per module. 1 research paper and 1 group project towards the end of the semester. Not a terrible class but also not the best. However, Professor Sanchez grades fairly and responds to emails quickly.
I took the online 8-week class, super easy. Just read a chapter and the slides, and take a quiz (do that for every chapter). One small project. She seemed super nice and fun, would have loved to take her in-person class. Gives plenty of reminders about deadlines. Easy grader. Learned a lot from the class, would recommend.
This is honestly one of the best classes I've ever taken. If you need to take Anthropology make sure you take it with this professor. The class was online and it consisted of 4 modules and each module has 4 units. No exams only short quizzes for each unit and she's very well organized and has no late penalty. Her lecture slides are very interesting
Dr. S wants you to succeed! She sets you up for success with her online format. She is very organized, hilarious with the memes and gifs she includes in her slides, and she offers extra credit. She also uses a free online textbook. I would take another one of her courses again!
I loved this course and Prof. Sanchez! Her slide notes were very informative and funny. She also provided extra resources (like documentary videos) to help you out. Overall, her class was very enjoyable.
No tests. Only quizzes. No late penalty.
Funny, engaging, a lot of quizzes, handful of tests, 1 or 2 essays depending on if you feel like being extra. Have fun talking about monkey s3x! I love her and definitely would recommend.
Take this class for an easy science credit! It is straightforward with short modules and short reading quizzes over each chapter. There are two short essays you have to write but they are over interesting topics. As long as you submit your work this should be an easy A!
LIke someone said before. No tests. Only quizzes. No late penalty. The quizzes are easy. You just have all of these classes discussions and the class gets off topic. Definitely not a killer class but great for your GPA.
One of the best professors I have ever taken. She sometimes go off topic in lectures, but overall is an engaging & fun class. Currently taking her ANTH-2101 course. Easy grader & takes late work with no penalty. She cares about her students, gives you tips to tackle college, and no proctored exams. I definitely recommend taking any of her classes.
She was the first professor to start complying with my accommodations, took the others I was taking that semester, a week or so after her. She even sent an email response, which was very thoughtful! All the labs were well thought out and engaging, it is clear that she cares a lot about the subject and is eager to teach it!
Very nice and calm professor. Not a lot of assignments and she takes late work without penalty! Not a hard grader either. My class was mostly disscusin board, quizzes and two 700+ papers but they werent difficult.
