She's cool and funny and really into helping her students excel.

Best teacher ever. Reinforces everything with positive feedback. Hard work but well worth it since you learn so much. Her lectures can be applied to academia as well as real life.
Very nice, lots of work, easy to get along with!
kinda hard but she's super cool and funny. she's one of the few professors at LCC who seems to care about her students
good teacher, I actually enjoyed her class.
awesome teacher made the class really fun lol
One of the best teachers that ever taught me. Just shy of becoming a tita. But seriously, she helped me and a lot of other people become better communicators. "Practice makes permanent" you know.
very good teacher. She keeps the class interesting and she is helpful. Just study the book and practice your speeches. Don't try to memorize the speech because you'll screw up.
This teacher is awesome. She really does care about her students. She treats us like equals and wants us all to succeed even if that means we'd actually be more knowledgable then her. Her love for the subject shows.
She is awesome. She truly is the dorkiest speech teacher around. She really enjoys her subject and makes you want to learn it also.
Mrs. Yokotake is in my opinion the funniest teacher I have ever met. Her class is all fun and laughs. You have to do the work but if you put effort into it this class is an excellent choice. She makes learning fun and dinamic. She knows what she is teaching by heart and lives by it, how many teachers do that now days? She will make you love speech!
She's insanely funny and outspoken. Her teaching is very well organize and prepared before hand.Everything you will learn in her class is benificial and will strenghten your communication skills especially if your in a relationship...Highly suggest taking her class!
Class is never boring! She incorporates the content with current issues.
Prof. Yokotake's class is so much fun! It's never boring, and the speeches are not hard. She will go out of her way to help you, and she is very lenient in grading.
Excellent Teacher! Super funny, keeps class interesting. Her assignments are pretty easy and she only gives you 2 public speeches to do. I was actually supposed to get a B in her class but she bumped me up to an A-. As long as you really try to do your best especially with the speeches, she'll give you an A too if you're close. Recommeded!!
good laughs... always looked forward to it
Very nice. Helpful. Nothing too hard and nothing too easy in the class. You will enjoy going to class, maybe even wish the course was longer. Take this class and it 'll change you for the better.
She's great! Very helpful. Class is fun, worth going to. Quite a few speeches, but they are explained well and she gives a lot of time to do them. Has only 2 tests, both are easy, straight from notes(a lil from text). Highly recommened!
Great teacher! She has alot of enthusiasm and teaches from the heart. She knows how to make a topic relate to any age or gender. She is also very pretty. Her Class goes by fast! Highly Recommend her!
Awesome teacher. You'll learn a lot about communication and generally about life and yourself in this class. She always makes you understand what she's talking about through real experiences. Very interesting class discussions, which make you want to come to class. Very helpful in preparing for the "real world."
She is the best teacher I ever had. I recommend her to everyone I know. Her class is so much fun and I learned a lot about myself and about life.
She's the GREATEST teacher! She's fun/outgoing and makes public speaking easier. There's two speeches at the end of the semester, and three exams I think. I HIGHLY rec. her class.
She is awesome!!!! makes the class very fun with jokes and activities....is always availably after class..TAKE YOKOTAKE"S CLASS!!!!!!
She is a great lecturer, very funny, but she didn't tie her lectures into the test.
She's the best! Her class is interesting and you WANT to go. Everything she talks about is so intriguing... I think everyone should take this.
A really great teacher!Very nice and cares about her students very much
She's super funny and makes class very interesting and you want to go to back. You don't want to miss class because it's fun and you learn a lot
ATTENDANCE IS REALLY REALLY CRUCIAL!!! SHE'LL ONLY ACCEPT 2 ABSENCES. BUT OVERALL IT WAS VERY FUN, WE ONLY USED OUR TEXT BOOK FOR THE TESTS!(NO FINAL EXAMS INSTEAD WE GET 4 TESTS) SWEET.. >o< ASSIGNMENTS WERE REALLY FUN AND HELPFUL
great teacher and really recommended! lectures are fun and one of the few classes i'd look forward to going to!
Mrs. Yokotake had the right enthusiasm for teaching speech...it made the course very very fun.....:)
good teacher with funny and interesting lectures. you have to earn your A in her class and sometimes she's not very approachable when it comes speaking with her 1 on 1.
Professor Yokotake is what every teacher should be. She makes class go by so fast because lectures are funny and interesting. She prepares you for speeches by starting off with 1 on 1 discussions, then progresses to small groups, etc. By the time you do your speech you know everyone in class so it's not scary at all. Best part - ONLY 2 SPEECHES!
Students who think this instructor is unapproachable as a person are obviously completely out of touch with reality. The truth is this instructor cares deeply about her students and will go out of her way to help them if they come to her. The students who feel this way probably have an attitude problem or don't listen very well! She does care!
She is awesome! She keeps class fun & enjoyable but definitely gets the point across! She uses life experiences to communicate things to us in a way that we will understand. Mrs.Yokotake gives you several ways of reaching her if you ever need assistance! Class is never too stressful or overwhelming! I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HER!
Very fun and undressing teacher. Lots of fast-pace work with high expectations which makes it a tad unfair but it's worth it because she is just an awesome teacher. Take her! But not if you want an easy A
By far the best class I have ever taken so far in my college career. I learned so much in 6 weeks with her since I took it over the summer. She is extremely funny and her stories implemented it her lectures are very relatable. You will learn more and more about your self after each class. Overall, this class is amazing, I am so glad I took it.
Yokotake is an amazing speech professor. She teaches the concepts indicated in the textbook in her OWN words. She talks about how speech and communication are important to understand and learn in order to be successful in life. She often tells her own stories and experiences, most of which are funny as hell and make you understand! Take this class!
2 speeches all semester. best speech teacher ever! makes class fun and enjoyable. you'll never want to miss class. definitely recommend.
My favorite class this semester :) Professor Yokotake is hilarious and gets her students involved. The best thing is that you only do 2 speeches for the whole semester. The only thing I don't like are her tests. You only get 3 of them in the semester but they're pretty hard. Overall, I recommend this class!
Mrs. Yokotake really is what all teachers should strive to be like; helpful, understandable, and fun. There are two speeches near the end of the course and three exams throughout the year. The exams are only difficult if you do not read the material from the study guide she provides. Those of you who still need to take Speech, take her class.
Professor Yokotake is the best! she is super fun and very helpful attendance is only mandatory for the first 2 weeks. however class is very fun and interesting she was my favorite professor this past semseter and best part not alot of hw just at the beginning then 2 speeches and 3 exams that are fairly reasonable (:
Shes really funny and she loves what she does. Theres a total of like 10 speeches some are very short and shes hard at first because she expects you to do 2 speeches in a week sometimes but shes hard on grading. She wants us to memorize a lot of speeches.
Her lessons are entertaining and she knows her subject well. However, her point stacking grade system may cause you to struggle to reach an average grade if you don't score high enough on the big speeches containing a huge amount of points. She is willing to help, but you have to get contact her on a much earlier notice.
Be aware: Attendance is mandatory during speech days, and she is a very strict grader. She deducts points from speeches that are not perfected. Quizzes and exams are also challenging because you have to have good notes taken while in class. I did everything in class and attended class everyday; however, she gave me a C. I should have gotten B.
i was always interested in what she had to say because of her energetic teaching personality. She related with the students on a professional level. We need more teachers like her in the UH system.
She talks too much about her personal life. She tries too hard to entertain the class. I would rather hear stuff that is relevant to the class. After taking up time telling her stories she rushes through and tries to finish her lecture on time which makes instructions unclear at times, it's really frustrating.
She actually made the class interesting for me! She's really helpful and will help you with your speeches. Do the extra credits as well, because without them, I would've gotten a B.
She is awesome. She really knows her stuff, and knows it well. She makes the class fun all the time. Yokotake always comes to class with a happy attitude. Do all the work she gives out. She gives really good appreciative and constructive feedback with course work and speeches. I've learn so much from her and made really good friends!
She is a very enthusiastic teacher. I definitely recommend her because she's very experienced and she's also a very animated speaker. You never get bored in class. I took her for the summer so there was quite a lot of work but it was worth it all. Her class is one of the best classes I've ever taken. If you get the chance, just choose her!
Very dynamic professor. Talks too much about personal life, leaving little time for lectures. Does not tie lectures to tests, and has us studying for tests from the textbook on our own. Would much rather hear about the subject than her personal life.
Great Class.
Amazing professor whose lectures are very thorough, engaging, and also interesting. She reads off note cards sometimes, but that's only because she's directly quoting the definition of terms from the text(she mentions it). The only way you would fail is if you didn't do anything. She likes to keep things up beat and the work isn't impossible. Good!
Professor Yokotake is most definitely passionate about what she teaches and I totally respect her for that because she is very easy going and very welcoming and also very well respected I promise you wont regret taking her class.
Tough Grader. Participation dont matter. Study guide useless on tests, memorize the book.
I honestly have nothing bad I can say about this class. She was extremely helpful and her discussionlectures were interesting.
She is a wonderful professor. Her lectures are inspiring because she bases them on everyday life. She makes the class fun and she explains everything very clearly. Two presentations. Hers tests are tough. You need the text book to study for the tests. If presentations aren't your strongest suit, you should definitely take her.
I loved her lectures. She can be funny and very characteristic. Sometimes she talks too much. Very easy class. I feel more confident when speaking because of this course
Prof. Yokotake is definitely hilarious! She makes her lectures super engaging and relatable. There's one group project, 2 speeches and like 3 exams. DO read the book for exams!!! Overall, very interesting class that helps you better your social skills, work skills and speaking. I wish she'd post your class grade online though.
One of my favorites! Amazing lecturer. Super funny and easy going. Small group projects. I learned a lot! If you put in the effort, it's easy. You give 2 speeches towards the end. By then, it's not that bad. She does class participation. Overall amazing!
I took 4 classes this semester, and this was the only class I enjoyed. This is a really good class to take and she makes all of the sections really fun. It is very easy to learn in this class, because you won't want to miss one. This class really gives you a chance to learn about yourself.
Professor Yokotake was my very first professor at LCC. Hands down my favorite class & prof. Every lecture was hilarious, and it made me open my eyes on how to be a better communicator in all types of relationships. You won't want to miss a class. If you keep up with homework & take good notes, you'll be sure to pass this class with an A!
Yokotake is absolutely hilarious & so animated when talking so her lectures are very interesting! You learn so many things that'll benefit your life, not just the way you speak. I was so sad that the semester was ending! I didn't want her class to end! Plus, you only do 3 speeches, which is great cuz I'm not a fan of public speaking.
Professor Yokotake is the best!! She makes class entertaining. Small group activities. 1 group project. 2 speeches toward end of semester. Test are tough. She gives a study guide, but you really need to read the book until you know the topics well and go over your notes from lectures. Overall, I would recommend her class!!
Yokotake is amazing! She is funny and caring. Outlines and small group projects. For Test/Exams everything is based off of the book!! Make sure you read it thoroughly and multiple times!! 2 Speeches at the end of semester, informative and persuasive. By the time you have to do speeches you will feel comfortable.
Im not even done with the class yet, (first exam in a few days), and im obsessed with her class! I just wish i was taking it in the fall/spring and not summer, so i would get more time with her and in the class! She is so funny and kind! Im learning so much!! Im always going home and talking about what life lesson i got that day :D
This was a four hour class that I took in summer session II, but Professor Yokotake made the hours fly by. She is hilarious, and very open to to students when they need help. You must read the book, and do the study guide to get an A or B on the tests. Only big speeches, but practice practice. She's a great orator, great professor overall.
It was my first semester in college and my counselor suggests I take this class. It's not bad. Her lectures are topics on the textbook and is very clear. She assigns homework for almost every topic. You take two tests which requires a good amount of time to study, then we do group projects all in one semester. Overall a great class to take.
Wow! Ms. Yokotake is an incredible instructor. She is incredibly committed to the well being of her students. She will take the time to edit any homework so that you can submit an A paper. Her method is brilliant, and by the time you give your speeches you are well prepared. One tip- the tests are largely based on memorization. Best class at LCC!!
Her lectures go on and on forever, and there are crazy many assignments so make sure to stay organized and keep up with due dates and studying.
Easy class, but how she grades your weekly essays are very confusing. She once left a comment saying to "seek help from the writing center," instead of just telling me what I could fix. When you write your weekly papers, just be as straight to the point as possible. Essays are not bad at all, just be straight to the point.
Overall a good teacher but has some downfalls. She can speak for the entire class if she wants to. The work assignments aren't too bad, but make sure to study them.
Yokotake is an alright instructor. I thought she was kind and fun. But it she her grading isnt fair.
She was one of my favorite teachers I have had so far! Took her online Speech 151 class. Professor Yokotake truly cares about her student's success and will always take her time to provide great feedback! She is really good at communicating back if you have questions.
Good instructor. A lot of forums, self video recordings, and essays. The amount of quizzes were a lot less than the amount of other things due. You can keep retaking the quizzes until the due date. You'll really need to manage your time with this class. All essays must be 600 words, peer response 50 words, and forum posts 250 word count.
The work in this class is heavy. You are expected to write a lot and be organized exactly the way she asks. Look a week ahead for your next set of assignments because there will occasionally be harder assignments that take up more time than the weekly forum and quiz. Always plan in advance for her class since her work requirements are strict.
Professor is amazing but I didn't like the constant work and tests once every week
Take this professor!! She is very fair to her students and knows what she's doing. There are only two "big" essays, the rest of the assignments are discussion posts, responding to two classmates, and quizzes. You'll have to read a bit, but not too bad. I was a few points away from an A so she bumped me up without me even asking. Just try your best!
Overall, good professor! She is kind and pretty relaxed other than she can be a strict grader. I would write 200-400 words over the minimum limit for discussions but there was always something that wasn't correct. Did not get a perfect score for a discussion post other than the final 2 (Farewell and public speaking posts); Only 2/8 perfect scores.
She gives a lot of assignments and grades really strictly. There's tons of reading, writing, and video assignments. I took her class because of the good reviews, but I wouldn't take her again.
I took this class because of the professor's good reviews—a very strict grader. I took it online, so you have to submit a pre-recording of yourself called a “video blast,” write 300+ word forum posts (including two replies to peers), and complete a few projects. I thought the projects were fun. If you enjoy a lot of homework, this class is for you.
Such a tough grader over such small things. Very irritating.
I would avoid this professor at all costs, she has core similarities to Lucifer. For ex. she will mark you down on ALL of your forum posts ( which she is annoying on how consistent she is with making you do forum after forum). The most nitpicking professor I ever had, and trust me, I have had many professors. By far almost the worst ever. AVOID HER
