He does a good job explaining things and if you are confused, he will go over it again to help you understand. Nice Guy
Goes over everything very well so the class can understand.....also very entertaining

Expect to put some time and effort into this course. A lot of material can be difficult but he is always more than willing to explain. He reviews concepts very detailed so you can comprehend it. He genuinely cares and is very sincere also. Great Prof

Very nice guy and a good teacher. If you aren't very good at accounting he is definately the professor to take because he reviews often and the pace is slow, however, If accounting comes naturally to you this will be the most BORING time of your life.
Is absolutely PASSIONATE about accounting. Goes over everything thoroughly so as to make it easier to understand. Very nice guy. It almost seems like he is too smart.
One of the best teachers and people you can come across in your life. A very knowledgeable and helpful person.
good teacher, and very nice
This guy is the man. He loves accounting and he is willing to help you always. I took him for 2 classes and one was a 3 hour class, he made it go by fast.
Great Guy! Have taken him a few times. He knows what he is talking about and does his best to make you understand too.
Professor Donchess is a one of a kind professor. he is very knowlegeable in his field and loves Diet Pepsi!!! He has helped create a great school of accounting/finance and he puts a lot of effort into his students. Not easy, but he will be more than willing to explain anything You won't regret!!!
DIET PEPSI.. funny guy can get a little booring with old School overheads, but good teacher and willing to help you out.
Good teacher. I was out for a few days because of a death, and he was more than willing to help me out and get me up to speed with the class work. And yes everyone is right he does like his diet pepsi
Asset to BSC.
rude and unclear
Who the hell decided to let this guy teach?!? In his finance class, our first test was at the end of the semester, so he just lumped everything from the book onto that test, including some really unclear and vague concepts that he NEVER talked about or mentioned in class. He can't teach for the life of him, and he's arrogant and condescending.
tough course if u don't like accounting but a very good instructor who explains complicated stuff well. do not miss class and take good notes or you'l be lost. willing to help if you show that u try.
Really hard course. The test problems are very like the homework so be sure to study the stuff from the lectures. Thought instructor was good at explaining stuff. Make sure that you get the right calculator.
Not an easy class if that is what you are looking for. He keeps you to the last possible minute and sometimes later. He does do a good job explaining things but spends to much time on one thing and then has to rush through other important things due to poor planning. Test are OK if you go to class and put in a good amount of studing time.
This is the second time that I took this course. I thought that it was a tough course. Material is not real exciting. He spends a lot of time on the most dificult stuff and then highlites the easier material. The time value stuff was covered a lot. He tells you what will be on the exams. There are easier profs if you want a high grade.
Attendance not required. This guy knows his stuff. He doesn't check homework, no extra credit or anything. 3 tests, all worth 33.3%, thats it. Fail one test, say goodbye basically. Only 2 teachers teach this class, and he was the better of the two. Take your pick.
Explains material really well. Doesn't rush through chapters and makes sure the class understands what is being taught. Material isnt that difficult, if you think it is then you might want to consider changing your major. Attend every class and do the homework and your guarenteed at least a B.
class is very easy as long as you show up and do your homework. he makes everything very clear to understand. take him ACFI classes if you can. does seem to drink too much coffee though.
I think that this guy is from the future. Seems to know about headlines b4 they happen.
instructor knows his stuff. Not that tough if you keep up. Excel is required.
Pay attention to the multiple choice questions and it is easy. The questions can be tricky but once you know what his tests are like you know what to look for.
Dry sense of humor. Enjoyed the class.
This professor is awful. Class work is easy minus the crazy instructor. his rules only apply to students, he leaves class at random, does weird things, like snap paper or open random doors for no reason. Dropped the class because he goes to far ahead of the material you get tested on. ch1-3 tests when on 6-REDICULOUS. Good luck
just do the homework (especially Connect assignments) and u should do ok. Not sure what the last poster talked about. There was only one door to the class :)
Tough instructor. Tests are difficult. He does a good job explaining difficult stuff. His classes fill up quickly so register early. Their are easier teachers.
drinks too much coffee very animated dry sense of humor course goes by fast for an accounting course excel and web projects required liked the course keep up and u should do Ok
If you're not an accounting major, i wouldn't recommend this guy. He just lectures and if you're not getting it, he's not that helpful. Very boring, not funny, overall not a great professor.
If U are not a business major or are weak in business DONT take this course for a core course!!! He expects u to do lots of work. Not an easy grder. Knows his stuff. Better than most I've taken at BSU.
Read the text and do the homework and you should be fine. Knows his stuff and gives thorough explanations in class. Tests can be hard, but not too bad if you attend class & do the work. Uses silly examples sometimes, but it does help you remember things.
At times he's a little odd. Takes 20 minute or more breaks during a 2.5 hour class. Skips around. Teaches at a 10th grade level. If you are a self learner you will do fine.
Exams are tough but he gives a ton of examples in class and handouts. Excel and a HW mgr required. Take good notes and listen in the test reviews. Put in the work and u should do Ok
Good instructor. teaching methods are unconventional at times but he gets the point across. Makes complex stuff easier. Miss class and UR lost. Take good notes and study and U will be OK.
I love him, takes complex material and breaks it down. He actually is really funny if you pay attention to his humor. Study the connect assignments quite a lot and you should do fine for exams.
He is a really good professor, Was very scared of taking Accounting till I took this class, he gives you the guideline to succeed in class. He will hint on whats going to be on the test, so write that all down. Usually has 2 or 3 tests a semester that are worth majority of your grade, that scared me at first but all you have to do is STUDY
Shows up 15 minutes late to every class, dresses like a clown, and snaps his fingers at the class. EXTREMELY boring class, and gives a TON of homework. Do whatever you can to stay out of this class!!!
This may be the toughest class I took at BSU. A TON of homework. HW assignments are due each week and graded. His notes are on blackboard. Would take him again but not an easy course. Good instructor.
There is a lot of homework but it is online and it helps to study for the exams. Keep up and you should do OK. He gives a lot of examples in class. Print out the notes from blackboard before class and it is easier. Put in the work and you should do OK. I liked the class more than I thought that I would. It is a lot of work tho.
One of the better accounting professors at BSU. Everyone is right.. his course has alot of work. He keeps class interesting and is very helpful. Exams are difficult if you don't put effort in. Connect HW assignments are fairly easy. He gives you the answers to the problems in the book & just changes the numbers on the connect assignment.
He's a really funny and great guy. As long as you print off the modules he puts up on blackboard and listen in class, you'll be good. He lets you know the material that will be on the test and has a review day the class before.
Weekly Online HW, 2 tests, 1 excel project, and a Final. He has some mood swings, but the class is very clear. You always know whats going on.
Taking him for Cost Accounting and he is a really helpful professor. Definitely lets you know what is expected of you and very thorough when teaching. The only downside is if you take a night class he keeps you until the very end. He often leaves for 20 minutes at a time. 2 exams, a cumulative final with a 20 pt case study, and an excel project.
there was lots of homework but I learned so much. The video clips were very helpful! If you put the effort into the homework and study you should do fine.
Donchess means well, but he does not realize that making 85% of your grade exams and 15% of homework is a little it much. He is not a bad teacher, and I actually learned a lot. He only has 3 exams and the rest is homework based. I taught myself, but homework really did help. Multiple choice kills you on the exams. Gets upset if you laugh or sneeze.
Graded homework is due every week. Will count for about 15% of your grade. He has all notes up on blackboard. I learned a lot but there are easier instructors to take. One of the toughest courses I've taken at BSU.
Professor Donchess is the best Accounting Professor at BSU, hands down. Although he is strict, his enthusiasm for the subject matter makes the difference when learning. He will explain everything slowly and in detail. Print out all the slides before the first day of class and be organized; you should be golden. Definitely recommended.
Donchess knows accounting. He is a really nice guy and uses everyday concepts to explain accounting. What could be better? Take him.
If you don't show up to class, you are not going to do well. If you don't do the homework, you are not going to do well. Put a little bit of effort in to the class and it will be worth it. Cost Accounting is really not difficult as long as you make the effort. I would take him again.
Professor Donchess is a great professor and very passionate about Managerial Accounting. His lectures were always interesting and he gave great logical explanations, analogies & examples for every concept, so no memorization was necessary! Attending class is mandatory, but you won't mind-time flies! Sets you up for homework with practice problems!
Stay away. Though grader. A lot of homework. Very complicated assignments. He was annoyed whenever someone went to the bathroom.
I agree the course is a lot of work. If you don't plan on a career in business you should not take this course. I learned more than I expected but there are easier professors
Truly a great professor who clearly is passionate about not only accounting and management bu also teaching. He breaks down the material an makes it easy to understand. Make sure to take notes and highly what he says will be on the test - it will be! I enjoyed this class and did well - learned a lot! You do need the book for sure!
He's a nice guy but tends to look up at the ceiling when he lectures. That can be quite distracting and leads to a disconnect between himself and students.
Tough course. Learned more than I expected. Be sure to have the study guide and lecture notes and you will be golden. Excellent professsor!
Puts his lecture notes on blackboard, I wish every professor did this, its a power move on his part and smoothly facilitates the learning process. Enthusiastic about accounting, you get your monies worth in the lectures! He always teaches the full length of time available, so you won't get out early. Hardest part of class is the last 50% of course.
Donchess is a good dude at heart. I mean, its accounting so like the material is tough but most of the class is breaks. He has some good lectures but.... ITS ACCOUNTING. It can only be so fun. Follows the class guide he gives you.
He doesn't like when you leave the class during his lecture for any reason. He, however, will frequently leave the room to get things he left in his office. Also if it's a long class, class will take a break that last usually 20-30 minutes. Doesn't seem to notice if you have your phone out but can spot a yawn from across the room
Good instructor. Be sure to use the study guide and test guides. Class was long but there always was a break in the middle. Connect hw assignments can boost your grade so do them.
A classic teacher, he really digs deep to make sure you know the material. His lectures are always amazing and he makes sure everyone is on board. The class itself is easy as an accounting major, 3 tests and connect homework. Can be repetitive but all for a good cause. Sometimes it can drag but the guy was born to teach. Hands out notes at start.
probably the best instructor in accounting along with Finning. Print out the study guide, go to class and study and you will probably get an A or B. Don't do that and you will end up with a D or F. It is what it is.........
Took his class once a week for 2h40. Homework was on Connect and was usually easy. He drops your 4 lowest hw grades at the end of the semester. 2 exams nd a final He's late to class, steps out for long periods of time, and cracks corny jokes but he definitely knows his stuff. I'm not great at accounting but he did a great job of simplifying things.
Good class. Be sure to use the handouts. Usually gives an inclass problem to set you up for the homework. Bring the study guide notes to each class.
Good professor, homework load isn't too bad, but there is quite a bit. He drops the lowest 4 homework grades for the online homework, which is great. Do the homework, it will help your grade a lot. He is very clear when he explains things and uses visuals as much as he possibly can.
Classes can be long and boring but he does a good job making them interesting. Overall great experience and learned a lot. Ended up getting a A-
I enjoyed the way this class was set up online. He has a study guide for the entire semester that had links to lecture videos. They were very helpful. We had connect assignments based on the lectures in the study guide. The 3 tests were a bit difficult in my opinion. But I definitely enjoyed taking this class and I enjoyed this professor.
Rude and arrogant. Just keep your head down and you'll be fine.
I took his class online (asynchronous) and we barely used our textbook. Exams were based on his video recordings only. There were homework suggestions but we didn't have to turn them in, but if you did them, the exams were a lot easier. No extra credits, but the professor was cool. He is very busy but he responds to emails quite quickly.
The most useless professor on campus. He doesnt help whatsoever and when you ask for help he responds like a 6 year old. He has the audacity to act like a professional whilst he neglects his students in every way shape and form.
Good professor. One of the best in the AccFi dept. Be sure to download study guide and use it. Course was challenging but structured. Only emailed the prof. several times. He always responded back in a day or so.
This was a hybrid class that only met in person for tests. He has a clear study guide that is necessary to be successful in this course but most of the work is done through connect. Not a bad class if you're able to teach yourself material and then take in person tests.
Good dude. If you do the connects and pay attention in class with the study guide, you will be fine!
I did this class online. He was very clear with his criteria. Overall nice guy, would respond to emails when necessary. Be ready to read as he is does use the book for his connect assignments and tests.
I took this class online. All the homework, quizzes, and tests are done through Connect. I used his massive study guide to help me through all the homework and prep for quizzes/tests. I had to email him once and got no response. Throughout the semester he would change his syllabus by dropping homework, adding quizzes, and an Excel project.
Straightforward class, most of the work was on mcgraw hill which I dislike for any professor, but it was an online class so I can understand. Was very accommodating and dropped a few low assignment grades at the end of the semester to help students bring their grades up. Would definitely take again!
I didn't find him to be engaging at all and didn't get much out of his class.
Very boring class and not very good communication. Not many things to be graded on so homework and exams matter a lot. Doesn't put in grades to blackboard.
good course
Good class
I missed the first exam due to awaiting on book assistance was denied a retake. Which is ironic because this is the same professor who didn't have a class for the first couple weeks of the semester. It was honestly insulting when his response was to "read the syllabus". Was incredibly unaccommodating best grade I could get was a 75 which I will.
Knows his stuff. Would take again. Be sure to read the syllabus.
Be sure to download the study guide and you will be fine.
