Professor Acosta is a great teacher, one of the best. You learn alot in his classes, more than you would think. He is very intelligent and has a great background in his study of history. Too bad he has a girlfriend!!!

This teacher makes your semester go by so fast!!!Very easy with assignments, lets you revise them for a better grade and always there to help you out with any questions. Take his class and you will pass! Definately recommend him!

Acosta makes learning about history fun, yet challenging. He is obviously very passionate about his profession. The questions he makes up for his writing assignments are thought provoking and helped me to better understand the material in the book. He is also very supportive and interacts well with the class.

Carlos is awesome. He's one of the few historians and educators that like to make history fun for the student. He tries to challenege you with repsonse papers, etc, but does not make it too hard. Great sense of humor, too.

Great Instructor. No Tests, no quizzes, need I say more. One to two papers per week, and a final research paper. Do the papers, show up to class and you get an A.

Carlos is a very nice, fun-loving, and easygoing guy. He is very interactive with the students and genuinely cares about students. The class and assignment are easy, just show up, participate in discussions, and do your homework (no tests). However, the class discussions tend to be very one sided and liberally biased. Anti Bush/republican/war.

Take this teacher for whatever subject you can! You will not be disappointed!

Very easy class. Mainly filled with discussions and group work. The books are used pretty much every class. The only problem with this class was I felt as if he was always hitting on or staring at the girls. Other then that I really enjoyed the class. If you do your work you'll get an A.

Before taking this course I really had no interest in this subject. I never found history to be that facinating until I took this course with Carlos Acosta. Carlos Acosta is such a wonderful instructor that makes History fun. I would take his course over again just for fun.

Carlos is an awesome professor! Hes extremely welcoming & he wants to see his students succeed. Attendance is mandatory. Textbook is used daily. Very easy assignments. Half page essays sometimes. He will work with you if you turn in an assignment late. He is very FUNNY!& very nice, I loved his class& I used to HATE history, but Carlos made it fun!

Great instructor, allowed us quite a bit of flexibility with assignments. I came from being nervous with final presentations to looking forward to them. The point he gets across is that history is alive and well here in the USA. He is very helpful and allows the class to evolve in its own special way. Shy people become confident in this class.

He is awesome? Knows his material and makes it interesting. Better than most English teacher in his writing and showing you how to write and works with you individually and with the group. Awesome.

He is a great teacher. He is late to class everyday, but he doesn't take attendance. Gives a lot of papers but they are fairly easy and if you listened at all in class it will be a breeze. A lot of group work so if you are not an A student the other students can carry you.

Do your assignments and you'll be good. He encourages you in a positive, funny manner to participate in class discussions and is gentle with the shy ones.

His class was very easy. If your taking a lot of classes that you need to focus on his classes are good since there is no pressure. He does actually grade the assignment, so make sure that you put effort into the assignments if you want a good grade. I would recommend him.

Acosta makes class fun and very interesting. I would strongly recomend taking his film class on Mondays. It seems like a long class but it goes by fast and we always got our earl. He is an awesome instructor.

Mr. Accosta is one of the best teachers you could possibly ask for. If you are thinking about taking a class in the Summer, the work load in this one is very reasonable. Show up for class and buy (or rent) the books. He's got a good sense of humor and he makes the subject interesting, even if you're not really into History.

Mr. Acosta was amazing in my Summer 1 class. I wished he was taking Summer 2 but "he has to rest". LOL He has a good sense of humor and will help you with anything you have trouble with. I highly recommend Mr. Acosta.

TAKE ANY OF HIS CLASSES! I can stress enough how great this teacher is! He's kind and considerate and gets the class talking about a wide range of things from what happened in the news, major historical events, or the most random topic you can think of, he'll talk about it. As long as you write hi essays well (he grades easily) your sure to pass.

Mr.Acosta is hands down one of the best professors that I've ever had. The assignments aren't super difficult if you do the reading and understand the material. He is absolutely hilarious if you can keep an open mind to his sense of humor. He makes what would be a boring History lecture, into a fun, humorous, and entertaining lecture.

He sporadically calls on everyone to share their opinion, so you probably shouldn't take him if you're shy. He made class fun; I was always excited to go.

Mr. Acosta is cool & you can tell he loves history. He cracks jokes & sniffs markers, but don't talk in class unless he calls on you specifically. If you run your mouth in class your grades will nosedive. Minimal reading, minimal writing, overall very easy class.

From this class, you can expect to watch a lot of documentaries, do very simple in class & homework assignments, & write an essay for the final. No tests. However, because there arent many assignments, if you even miss one, you will not get an A in the class. I cant say I learned much, maybe cause it was a summer class. definitely not challenging.

Took it over summer. There were essays assigned. The final was an in class essay but got to use your book and notes. Mr. Acosta is a great professor and definitely makes a dry class fun. If you're a History major take someone more challenging but for any other major, take him. You will still pick up what you need to know and he will make you laugh!

Super-funny guy, never boring. Thankfully few group projects, so no free rides for slackers. Regular reading and essay assignments of 2 pages each. Generous with grades if you put in any effort at all. Free-wheeling class environment, but he will challenge you when you speak up if he thinks your ideas or logic don't add up.

Carlos is awesome! I took him for History 1301 and History 1302 (film emphasis). In 1301 we had a papers to write,but not too many. For the final you can choose anything in history you want to talk about for your presentation or you can write a paper . 1302 through film emphasis had less papers. Be prepared to laugh every day you see him.

Mr Acosta is funny. He talks to you more than lecture to you. assignments and papers were short and easy. final was anything you wanted as long as it had to do with history even food. i will be taking him again for Amer minorities studies.

He is a great teacher! I had him for 1301 and 1302 HIST and 2308. He made me want to become a history major. He looks at history through movies and films which really helped me stay interested. I loved how he would stop the movie to point out funny or historical parts and makes history fun. Best teacher ever.

Wonderful professor. Had him for History 1301 and 1302. He teaches in a fun and laid back way. He is hilarious and very helpful if you seek his help. No tests, easy homework assignments, but he does grade your papers fairly. I highly recommend him if you are looking for a fun way to learn about history.

He reminds me of a high school teacher, crude at times so if you're sensitive don't take this class. If you can write a paragraph you'll get an A, pretty much just show up and get an A sort of class. Super easy! Not a lot of assignments, easy to understand/follow. NO tests at all, only like two quick quizzes that are easy. For the exam, we can choose to write an essay about a certain topic, or a presentation on any topic. He's also super funny! I definitely recommend him. Professor Acosta is a great teacher. He is so funny he says the craziest things ever, but just don't get offended by anything he says or tell you he is just playing around. This class is an easy "A" just making sure you show up everyday, get your work in on time and you will pass his class.

I took him History 1301/1302. he is hilarious. as long as you go to the class/ do homework(read documents and take notes) you can answer pop quiz while in the class/mid term and final are at least three pages(you read documents , easy to filled up paper) or 1302 on final,you can do 7 minutes presentation. Nobody drop out his class. EASY EASY A!

This was the best instructor I have had thus far. He is hilarious and keeps you engaged. Show up and you'll pass. We wrote 2 small papers 2-3 pages double spaced and group table questions to answer.

Mr. Acosta is the funniest guy. He likes to joke around a lot and it may seem offensive but don't take him so literal. He does not give tests, only like 3 question quizzes. Lots of in class group work so it makes it easier. A few essays 1-3 pages (double spaced). For the final either a 7 minute presentation or essay. Should be easy high B or A! :)

Mr. Acosta is an alright professor. I took him for the summer. My main issue is that he graded almost entirely on group work. He's a funny guy, but i didn't really enjoy his class.

I dont understand why there would be any negative stuff here. DO not listen to those people. He is the best teacher to take and very funny. He's very lenient. I learned a lot, and did not dread this class. Hardly any hmwk, no quizzes, but there is class assignments in groups mainly but super easy and short. Textbook is required.

You NEED to have a great sense of humor! He is extremely funny & the work he assigns isn't hard AT ALL! Group assignments and very little quizzes ,which he goes over with you before the quiz. Books are needed as well! I promise you are making the right choice taking his history classes!!

I enjoyed having Mr. Acosta as a professor. He is very passionate about history, future and past. Sometimes you have random assignments so don't miss in case their is an assignment that day.

Professor Carlos Acosta's class was a joy to be in. He uses lots of videos and loves group work. Homework is given but very easy to complete. Books are used frequently & attendance is mandatory because he likes in-class assignments and if you miss you can not make it up. Other than that it was a fun & easy class. WOULD TAKE AGAIN!

Mr. Acosta is pretty funny. His class is really easy. He does require you to get the books and bring them to class, but you're never really quite sure when you'll actually use them. He doesn't give a lot of assignments, and can sometimes go off-topic. But, like I said, it's an easy class.

Took 1301 & 1302 with Acosta, BEST decision ever. He is super funny and has a good sense of humor, He gets off topic but when it comes down to assignment time he gives clear instructions. The work he gives isn't hard at all! You can miss class just hopefully not on the day he decides to give work. Made A's in both courses I took with him.

If you just show up you'll get an A. Theres only 2-3 essays for the whole semester which are 1.5-2 pages long. All other assignments are in class with your group. His lectures are hilarious, he shows lots of movies, and group work is an easy A. If you're looking for a laid back professor who gives minimum work I highly recommend him!

One of the best and easiest classes I have ever taken! Professor is extremely funny and makes learning about history actually enjoyable. Most assignments are group work in written responses form. He grades a very specific way, but once you learn how he grades it is an easy A. He can get off topic from time to time but it makes class interesting!

Mr. Acosta is an excellent choice when it comes to professors. If you enjoy history, you will definitely enjoy this class. There is an average amount of homework and various group projects. Reading is a must in this class but very manageable. This was a very enjoyable and interesting class.

I took Mr. Acosta for both History 1301&1302. I was taken back by his way of teaching but it made it fun and made me want to show up to class! I was ill for a short period of time and he worked with me on missed or late assignments. He knows his history and he is very funny. Loved his taste in music too!

Oh man he is the funniest professor ive ever had! If you are sensitive and get offended easy DONT TAKE HIM! Otherwise he is easy on work load and the class is more of a discussion of life and some history. Take mind of the notes he makes when grading if you listen to what he has to say you'll do fine. He is by far the best history professor I've taken. I took him as a 9am class and he always made me laugh and wake up. Essays and small assignments are graded out of 5 points, super easy loves alot of evidence in assignments! His lectures are not long and if you have questions or concerns he's very responsive and helpful! 100% recommended

Professor Acosta is by far the most hilarious professor I have taken. Get ready to listen to rock and roll at full blast in this class, I'm not joking. Very few assignments. In class reading. He will literally make about 20 jokes in one class. Highly recommend. Super fun class. And yes you do actually learn.

I had Prof Acosta Spring & Summer 2020, he adjusted well to remote learning. Bit of a tough grader, but gives good feedback. My papers improved every week. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but it was better to attend & be caught up. He makes jokes (a little insensitive for some people), doesn't hold back his opinion. Very passionate about history.

The best history teacher I have had in my academic career. Hes funny, helpful, and smart.

All assignments are essays non of them are hard just time consuming. Textbooks are needed. Super funny, but gets off topic a lot. Definitely doesn't try to hide how he is a democratic. Easy class as long as you do your work.

Professor Acosta is a funny professor, he is really caring and the work isn't hard at all. There is one class debate that you have to participate in for a grade. Pro-tip for getting a good grade in his class is by using a lot of quotes in your essays!!!! it helped me get an A! Good luck to all! and use QUOTES!!! you'll see a difference!

The funniest professor ever. He does get political so be aware. An essay each week that isn't hard just add lots of quotes and you'll get an A. One debate in the semester. Attendance questions every so often that are easy. Would take again because he makes class enjoyable!

He was a super awesome professor. He was understanding of everyone's needs and made sure to make every lesson interesting. He breaks things down into super simple terms for us. He makes sure to let you know you are a person with a life outside of school and because of that, he forms a good relationship with his students. (Just participate).

very understanding, very funny and just an easy professor overall. really hard to fail his class.. he does group assignments and there will be presentations but its an easy A!! NO TEST OR QUIZZES! did use textbooks but he provides them online too homework consist of mini papers usually 2 pages or something if not w/ a group the best teacher ever!

Acosta is a loud, outgoing man who will make your morning class tolerable. I had him at 9:30am and class was never boring. He always cracks jokes (sometimes a little insensitive) but he means well. He's opinionated and loves to talk about history and random things. Each assignment was super easy and there were no tests, just small written quizzes.

Okay but first Professor Acosta is actually kinda hot but like it's really his personality is 1000/10. Anyways, I never really showed up to this and still managed to get a good grade. That is saying something. Just use quotes in your papers, and you're sure to get an A.

I loved him !! How can you not enjoy going to his class every class day? I took his HIST 1301 & 1302 classes! Hate that he doesn't teach different history classes, only two :(

Do yourself a favor and take Mr Acosta! He is an amazing and hilarious professor who really shows his love for teaching history. His lectures are extremely interesting and engaging and very minimal homework. Would definitely recommend this professor to anyone who needs a history credit taught by him. Seriously you won't regret it !

Professor Acosta is an amazing professor. He made coming to class in the morning enjoyable. A good way to start the day. He goes on rants and gets distracted easily but the class was great!

Mr. Acosta is an amazing professor who is a complete package. He is fun, caring, funny, knowledgeable, everything. We had assignments which were based on documents from the two textbooks we used. Be sure to use a lot of \quotes, evidence, and examples from the documents to make sure you do good in the assignments. I would definitely take him again.

Professor Acosta made me laugh every single class. I liked this class because it's everything I think a college course should be, entertaining but still covering necessary material. I'm going to miss this class and this professor so much. Definitely one of the experiences I've had at Northwest Vista.

Professor Acosta is awesome! He is a really funny guy and will make you laugh every single class. He's a super chill professor and very easy to talk to. The homework is very manageable but there are a few group assignments that can be a hassle. Overall I really enjoyed his class and loved his teaching style!

Professor Acosta was a wonderful teacher! His personality may not be for everyone, but he does make learning fun in his class. He doesn't assign heavy reading assignments, and most assignments are done in class with a group. Very easy class to pass. Would recommend taking him if you want a fun and caring professor. You have to try to do poorly here

Took his class during the summer and it was enough to say he is the BEST teacher. Despite his teaching style, he does make sure to teach the main ideas, issues, and relevancy of history in an engaging way. He is very visual so he will use lots of pictures and videos to teach. Take his class and for once you will enjoy the opportunity of learning!

He has a big personality and pretty funny, he uses a lot of visuals to help understand the topic. I took HIST- 1302 for the summer and the course was quick and efficient, I do recommend taking this class if you need the credit.

With all the hard classes, his class felt refreshing. He was hilarious and did a lot of group assignments that helped you with your grade. He didn't have any tests in the 2 classes I had him for, not even a final exam. Definitely would recommend him if you're try pass with an easy class. Attendance was very important. If you attend you'll be fine.

Overall, I enjoyed this class and he made me not dread going into a history class at 8am. If you show up and do the short readings he assigns then goes over the next class day you will be just fine. He is super understanding too! If for some reason you need help or extra time just email him. He is also just a really big character- he is very funny.

He is the embodiment of ADHD he is so funny and made learning history interesting again. Every now and then he will get off track but you will get quality feedback on your papers and assignments. Would take his class again just for the fun of it.

He was awesome! his assignments need to be super specific thats when you will get a good grade. He is a fair grader, super nice to talk to and very supportive, and attendance to his class is mandatory.

He tends to share too many of his personal beliefs when it comes to things that should probably not be talked about in class. But he is pretty funny he is a lot sometimes be prepared if you take his 8am class he likes to blast music before starting. He can be blunt at times but besides that hes an easy professor with lots of work.

This class was definitely my favorite. He is hilarious and constantly cracking jokes. I really enjoyed how much he incorporated the students in class discussions and prioritized focusing on the topics we were particularly curious about. The work is easy and mostly focuses on being in class and a few short readings. Overall, very entertaining class.

His class included reading passages from the books and then responding to two to three questions about the passage you read.He made it fun to learn and as a person who has always hated history.

TAKE MR.ACOSTA !! he is so funny and the best teacher for an easy A. He does make you read passages but that is it. Work consist of writing a few paragraphs then turning it in. Does include working with groups but nothing crazy at all. Really good teacher !

I enjoyed his class, I was 100 online and the communication was fast and comprehensive. Grading was always very clear and the class followed a interesting and engaging formula. would take again and am searching for other classes he teaches that applies to my degree plan.

Amazing Class. Class consists of about 2-3 essay a week, occasional discussion boards. Be ready to read and write. He tells u exactly what he wants in the essays. TIP use lots of quotes and u will almost be guaranteed a 100%! There are NO TESTS. I really enjoyed this class.I highly recommend

Acosta always started our 11 am class blasting TOOL, he is hilarious but even he questioned his humor at times, besides that his class is very engaging and I found it easy to learn the material because of this. I am a person who finds it very difficult to focus and stay engaged but his teaching style had me wanting to learn and staying entertained!
