The pre-req for this course is being a demi-god or god because you'll be manipulating universes and all kinds of crap. He's always offering help outside of the class and I'll give him that. But I think he moves too fast through the material. Is that OK
Easy to understand and very willing to help. Also has a nice sense of humor.
he makes this subject harder than it needs to be. take someone else's class if you can.
Moves to fast through material. Makes it harder than it needs to be,
I don't like math, but he made it clear, had a sense of humor, and realized we're not all mathmaticians. Gave worksheets to reinforce what he taught, and optional homework problems. Also, he posted the slides online, so you could print them and follow along. Would definately take him again!
Not a hard test and is willing to help you! Great class and good teacher! Test are not very hard either...have to study alittle but not bad!! Great teacher!
He is not that clear. But his tests are mostly from the handouts that he gives in class. But at the you don't know how the hell you made an A. The way he grades the papers is easy. So, he is pretty good.
Almada makes this class 100 times more difficult than it really is. I know because after dropping his class I signed up for the same class with a better instructor and it is easy. I have an A in the new class, but I had an F in Almada's class. DO NOT TAKE ALMADA HE IS A POOR INSTRUCTOR.
Hard to understand but willing to help you. Can make you feel pretty stupid!
Very good professor only if you are good in math. hard to understand sometimes, but overall he's pretty good.

Moves through course work too fast.
His handouts are problems that will resemble on the test. He does make the class harder than it needs to be.
Unless you are very good at math, don't take him because you have to teach yourself in this class. everything is on slides. when you ask him a question his favorite saying is "we don't need to get bogged down in the details", when the details are usually on the exam. He gives you a crib sheet and no one has yet to make a 100 on an exam.
I agree with the rest. Do not take his class unless you are already good in Math. He expects you to already know what is going on in a begining College Algebra class. I feel he should not be teaching college algebra because his teaching methods are way to advanced for a freshman math class.
He doesn't go over any of the packets that he hands out in class and he doesn't go over any tests in class either... "come during my office hours" is his favorite phrase. Everyone had questions and he didn't answer any of them. HE SUCKS!
Great teacher!!!
I learn a lot of good math tricks from him. If you are serious about math you should take his classes.
I am already impressed. Everything I was told he was gonna be.
If you like math he will help you a great deal. He really knows his stuff.
Very good professor.
Obviously Dr. Almada knows his stuff very well and its applications in physics. He has an expectation that you enjoy what you study, and I like that.
Awesome.
HE'S GREAT. HE GIVES PRACTICE EXAMS AND ALWAYS WELCOMES QUETIONS, BUT IT IS UP TO THE STUDENT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS
No practice exams were given, lots of homework, but he NEVER reviews the homework so you're never sure if what you did was correct or not. Only three exams were given. No reviews after the exams to go over what you missed. This prof stands in front of class and reads his PP slides. This is a bad deal for someone who needs a math teacher!!!
In my case I did all the homework and when I didn’t understand went to his office. He was very helpful and thorough in his explanations. He's a great teacher and cares a lot about your learning. Tests are easy and identical to the homework problems. Don’t do HW and don’t ask questions and you will fail. I did both and I’m getting an A!! Yeah!!!
Great teacher!! but if you are not willing to work don't take stats from him; he assumes you like what you do. Unfortunately, this is not the case for most students taking this class. Made a B in this class.
Easy A if you actually do the homework he gives you. I ran through the practice problems the day before the test and made 100's on two of the tests no problem. He curves as a statistics teacher should. There were people doing poorly in our class but it is because they didn't try. Do the work = easy A.
I agree with the previous reviewer.
Not the best teacher if you're not a math major. Don't think that you've got it figured out because the first two tests will be easy and the third will be crazy-hard. Thinks that we're all idiots but very smart and organized.
Great professor. Very demanding but fair and there is no way you can stay in his class without working. If you are serious about your major you should take Dr. A's classes. you will learn a lot and you will learn how to think.
Difficult to understand. Not much clarity in his lectures. If you do not like math, you best bet is to use the math lab as much as possible
Very good teacher. Efficient use of powerpoint makes the concepts quite clear. You don't need the book if you go to class. I liked the examples leading to the distribution of the sample means.
I don't like any kind of math, but he made it interesting. I didn't always understand everything that was going on, but I was able to get by.
Great guy with a wonderful sense of humor. Made Stats fairly easy!
He was ok. He gives practice problems and usually some of the practice problems are on the test. I recommend putting an example of each practice test on the piece of paper you can have during the test. For the final, get in a study group and go over all of the tests. I got an A in the class but some people did have to take it over.
Dr. A makes a hard class pretty easy. Lets you bring in a cheat sheet for every test, which is really helpful. Even if you don't study really hard, you have your cheat sheet to fall back on. Got a B in the class and I hardly studied.
Take him if you can! He lets you have a cheat sheet for the test (a whole notebook page front and back)and he somehow curves grades. There were several tests I thought that I failed but I made an "A" in the class. DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS. They will help on the test! He is willing to help you outside class as well. Would take him again!!
Took with Statistics. Math is my weak subject. If you attend class and listen you will be fine. He is very willing to help you understand the material.
Dr. Almada is a very good professor. He explains everything very clearly and makes sure that everyone understands the subject matter at hand before proceeding. He has high but reasonable expectations of the students. His tests are hard, but he curves the grades as necessary. He also lets you use a formula/cheat sheet for the tests.
good prof. unlike many math teachers he understands that math doesn't just come to everybody. tests are fair. do the homework and you'll get an A.
He is NOT the best teacher in the world!! He definitely just reads the slides word for word...His practice problems are long and pointless with or without his "cheat sheets" you are screwed...the tests are way different than the actual practice problems. Do not take him!! I made a B in his class so I am not going to be biased.
I like this teacher a lot. He is very thourough at giving explanations. In this class details are important. I made an A in the first test. Everything on the test was fully covered in class.
I took him for calc 1 and i am currently taking him for linear algebra. Dr. Almada is a great person but when it comes to teaching he is all theory and very little applied. If your the type of person that needs repetition then i would suggest you not take him. So far he has been the hardest professor I have had.
Negatives: He goes through the material quickly. It's easy to really fall behind especially if you are not good in math. I wouldn't say he is super friendly. Only tests, no quizzes or required homework. He lectures the entire class. Positives: He allows you a cheat sheet, front&back to have for the exams(multiple choice) He posts his lect. ppts.
He is very nice, but teaching wise not too good. He isnt clear on what he wants you to learn and then test you on the hardest question. He does not explain well and leaves alot of the details needed for the next class out of his class. Very confusing at times.
He is really and knows very well what he is teaching. Explains everything with great detail to the point that you don't need the book at all. Do the posted homework and be ready for the review day prior to the test and you will get an A. Great class. Thank you Dr. Almada.
Great teacher, but he doesn't spoon feed. Very fair, curved most tests. Makes you think. Loves his subject. Funny. Expects self-starters. To survive, you must study together with classmates and do homework in text (not taken up). Would take him again.

If you have to take Calculus take it with Dr. Almada. He is a really good teacher and has powerpoints for everything. Don't bother in buying the textbook because you don't use it.
He sucked as a teacher. he never used the book it was all on power point and if your not good at math dont take him he wont help you. no wonder i failed. he sucks.
Great teacher; lectures are crystal clear and easy to follow. There is no need for the book if you attend the lectures. DO the posted homework and you'll do fine.
If you are a genius in stats take him if you like to ask questions or need to ask questions... dont take him! He is rude when people try to ask questions about anything!
He is a good teacher. There are quizzes, three tests, and a final. He lets you use a formula sheet for tests. Notes are on powerpoint slides which are on his website; I'd suggest having them printed before the lectures. Lots of practice problems/sample tests available. Homework not taken up. Willing to help you with problems during his office hours.
The class was easy. Three chapter tests and then a final plus some quizzes. You're allowed a formula sheet. How much easier can it get? The only negative is that if you ask a "stupid question," Dr. Almada let's you and the rest of the class know it. Other than that, he's great.
Dr, Almada is a great teacher. I highly recommend him; if you do the in class assigments, practice tests and some homework, you will do well in the class. The lectures are crystal clear. He is also very helpful during his office hours.
This class wasn't that bad actually. If you pay attention in class, do the homework, and please ask questions if you don't understand he will be more than glad to help, you will do better than just pass the class. And the quizzes come directly from the homework problems so there aren't any surprises.
Nice professor and funny, yet his class is too challenging for students that go to class everyday, take notes, and pay attention. His accent makes it hard to understand what he's saying sometimes. His practice tests and quizzes are easy, but the actual tests are harder and tricky.
Had Almada for stats in the afternoon and never fell asleep! Very effective lecturer and the class wasn't that hard. You are allowed a formula sheet and don't have to buy a book. I would take him again if I needed to. Watch out for the final it is different from the rest of the exams.
His lectures are a little hard to follow. He teaches calculator methods instead of making you learn the math but you don't actually need any math to pass his quizzes because he sets them up to be common sense.
This was a very challenging class. However, you get out whatever you put into it! We had a tutor which was available and helpful but I guess some people felt that they were too advanced for a tutor. Almada let us use formula sheets for all of the tests and he also drops the lowest quiz and test score. I would recommend him for Stats.
He is very smart and you can tell he knows the information but he is not good at teaching it. I would not recommend him. He can also be rude when you ask questions. He does allow formula sheets and quizzes come from homework. Save your GPA and don't take him.
Dr. Almada is a very effective teacher and the class is not that hard. His practice tests and quizzes are easy, and the tests are based on them but the tests require that you understand the material. Do the homework regularly and you'll get your A.
Great professor. There are no easy A's in his class. You must understand the basics if you want your A. Very effective and clear.
a very good professor. It's not the easiest class, so be prepared for studying. make sure to ALWAYS take notes in class because chances are all the questions on the test are similiar. can use a formula sheet on all tests. he has a crude sense of humor, but other than that he is very helpful , he will always help you in his office.
He is alright. Just study on your own things will be alot easier.
Very easy class the problems for homework and on quizzes are the exact questions on test easy A if you apply yourself
He is a good teacher. It seems he gets pretty frusterated when you ask to go over problems in class but the practice sheets, take-home quizzes, and cheat sheets are very helpful in the class! Pay attention, attend, ask questions and you will be just fine.
He gives 3 test, a final and like 9 quizzes. he drops the lowest test grade and if you pass the final with a good grade he replaces your second lowest test grade with the final. If you want to be taught a very slow level then take his class. I personal know im smarter than what he teachers. so he is kind of rude at time when you ask a questions.
If you are good at math it is a very easy class. The test questions are just like the homework problems and you get a crib sheet on every test. I barely paid attention and I made an A, but I also understood the material on my own. He can be very rude when you ask questions though and doesn't like to go over things more than once.
Very good professor. Demanding with high expectations for his students. Very patient with weak students which makes it frustrating for those of us who actually study and want to learn. If you are a slacker, don't take his class.
Pretty easy class over all. He explains everything over and over again. He breaks everything down very simply and uses real life statistics so it is easier to relate to.
Easy class, take home quizzes, lots of online practice problems, no use of the book. I didn't even take notes. His lectures are online in powerpoints as well. He lets us use formula sheets (cheat sheets) for all exams. Also we spend the day before the exams strictly reviewing, or you may visit during office hours for extra help.
Try to pay attention in class. It will help.
Powerpoint your way through. His test tend to be somewhat reasonable when you consider the amount of homework (no turn in) problems he gives you. He dropped lowest test score for our overall quiz average at the end of the class.
Pretty simple class. Some quizzes are take home, he drops the lowest test score, and you can have a cheat sheet for every test (even for the final). Mostly everything is done with a calculator.
Worst professor I've had so far at CSU. Extremely rude, you can barely understand what he's saying because of his accent, and terrible at communication. I went to see him one day in his office and he told me, before I could even finish my sentence, and I quote, "Later. I'm working on something," and proceeded to close the door in my face.
Dr. Almada is extremely brilliant and thorough in his teaching technique. He provides the student with all the information necessary to learn the material. He also has a brilliant sense of humor that was awesome for keeping my attention. If you are required to take statistics, this professor can teach it and also gives real world examples.
Dr. Almada is great! I had a hard time understanding him at first but sit up front and pay attention; you'll be fine. He gives take-home quizzes followed by in-class quizzes almost every week. You get cheat sheets for tests and there's tons of practice problems online. I'll be taking him again for Stats, because I enjoyed his teaching style.
Best teacher ever.
He gave us a clear scehdule to follow and as long as you came to class, didn't miss your quizzes or test you can pass the class!
No textbook, homework is optional, and you can have a full cheat sheet on every test with whatever you want on it. So glad I took him.
Amazing professor , has a keen sense of humor, I hate math but would take him again if I had to
Hes RUDE. Dont ask questions or he thinks youre stupid.
Really didn't care for this professor. Everything he said was over my head. A lot of quizzes and tests. No homework, which is good and bad. I studied hard and still made a C.
His lectures are lowsy and not planned. He reads from slides. He also asks questions during lecture and goes on a rant just to say "it won't be on the test". His quizzes are difficult, but the tests are basically from the homework. The HW is not required, but you need to study it and the PPs. You can use a formula sheet.
He is by far the WORST Math Professor I have ever had the displeasure of taking a course with. He gives you practice problems with no answers and doesnt even want to go over them, his tests are garbage and are designed to trick you, our class was failing so bad he practically gave us all C's so he wouldn't get looked at by the university. SKIP!!!
Sis, RUN. He only uses power points and goes off on tangents about things we arent going to learn. He can also be rude when you ask him a question. You should have thick skin if you take his class. He is very passionate about his course and he wants his students to learn. He should just go about it a different way.
I've never been good at math, but Dr. Almada made the material super easy to understand. He gives take home quizzes one day, then quizzes you on them in the next class. There are three major tests and the final. You're allowed to use a cheat sheet on all tests, so that's super nice. Also, most stuff is done on the calculator, which is good.
Best math teacher I had at CSU. Very demanding but fair. The bad students in the class complained but did not work at all. If you know why need math, taking from him.
Dr. Almada is a great teacher; lectures are crystal clear with a lot of examples. Very patient with some students that probably should not be registered for this class. No pop up quizzes; all quizzes are announced and preceded by a take home version. Easy A.
His explanations are clear and he is happy to answer any questions you have. He cares about his students and wants them to do well, but he will make you earn your grade. He emphasizes the understanding of the subject and expects to work on it. He is definitely worth taking.
He wasnt bad. He just wasnt spectacular. I didnt vibe with his teaching style. He taught math from a PowerPoint, which is unusual. Most teachers may step back during class and let you try a problem on your own before going over it, but he didnt. He also didnt teach in steps, which is what I thrive on.
If you have the chance please runnnnnnn he's horrible and he will make you stressed out in so many ways. Also, he don't care about you or your grades at all. Almost the whole class failed so, GoodLuck!! & do your homework problems it will help take my advice.
Dr. Almada is amazing. I had him for pre-calculus, and I really wish he taught higher math. His tests are always straight forward, and he pulls questions from the homework sheets he gives out. His homework is not graded, it's entirely for your benefit. He is a generous grader, and helps you out if you attend class and participate.
He taught through PowerPoint notes and examples. He also liked to give copies test content to take home as a practice leading up to unit tests. The people who failed were the ones who slept through lectures, didn't want to be there, and didn't do homework. Easy A, but you have to work for it. I wouldn't take him again, but he wasn't the worst.
He lectures from power points and does 1 problem per slide and expects you to know the answer off the top of your head. His English isn't that clear so I'm sometimes uncertain of what he's saying. The quizzes are okay, he lets you know in advance but in order to past the test DO THE HOMEWORK. He's okay, he's just different and I don't like that.
Almada is fine for lower level maths. However, the higher the class level, the worse he gets. He does not give dates for quizzes or tests and does not give answers to homework assignments- if youre doing it wrong how would you know. He is also abrasive when you ask for help. His class is extremely difficult, but not impossible. Goodluck.
He comes off as rude but not bad. I didn't miss a single day of class because paying attention and taking lecture notes are CRUCIAL!! No homework/book but I did the practice hw to prepare for quizzes (after every chapter) & exams which are multiple choice. I never got below an 80 in quizzes/exams and was top 10 in the class yet still got a high B.
Dr. Almada has always been a difficult professor. He makes you work VERY hard for your grade; which is typically good, but he makes you work so had its unreasonable. I'm just so glad I dont have any more classes with him. You will work hard for what you want, but he will notice your hard work. doing well in his classes is HARD
do not recommend this professor! being that STATS is a hard class as is, hes hard to reach in class or out of class. does not care for students or answer any emails! if you can, PLEASE choose a different prof. when you ask questions its like he looks/acts like youre an idiot. in other words, just take another prof!
He is a great guy. he will answer your questions if you give him something to work with. He has an accent but it is pretty clear to understand. His test are all multiple choice but they are not easy. You have to study for his tests, but if you listen in class it will not be a problem to pass.
For someone that isn't great at math, this professor made it worst.
This class was impossible with him. He is condescending when you need help and ask questions. He does not stick to the test/quiz schedule in the syllabus, he makes them up at random. If you want to get any better in this topic, be prepared to teach yourself or find someone other than him that can help. It you suffer enough he might pass you.
His teaching is not it for visual learners or learners who don't understand math easily. He makes the worker harder than he should & when asked to clarify he doesn't. There is NO homework or extra credit to SUBMIT & fall back on just tests, quizzes, & the final. There are no makeups even if Cougarview goes down bc "you should plan better"
