Escoto is one of the best psych teachers I've had at Eastern. The class itself is tough, but he def. gets u through it, and is always willing to help. The stress of 327 is def. not as bad w/Escoto by your side! Intelligent, helpful, humorous, and HOT!:)

the class itself was really tough, and he is tough himself, but every minute of class is worth it. He is very helpful and very dedicated. I have laughed to the point of tears in class. I don't think there is anyone, especially at eastern that can top him
He is hillarious, a challenging teacher, especially if you don't like papers, but he is always there for help with anything. A truly amazing person and wonderful teacher. Not afraid to say LITERALLY what he's thinking. Take one of his classes, no matter what your major is, he's awesome
he is one of the best professors i've ever had. his classes are challenging but he does everything he can to make sure his students do well. he's so funny and so honest. take his class!!!!!
The best professor out there. I love him! Class is very challenging but he is there walking you threw every little step. He throws no curve balls on exams and is very strait forward, also the funniest person I have ever met. He makes a great friend and an awesome professor. TAKE HIS CLASS!
Escoto is crazy fun, probably the least boring of all my classes. Lectures are clear and not full of useless garbage. And if a student doesn't understand something his T.A. Mike does a really good job at translating behavioral stats into plain english. And talk about eyecandy, both Dr. Escoto and Mike are HOT HOT HOT!
something else
love him

Escoto is the best Eastern has
love him!! his tests are really hard but his lectures are always interesting and he's hysterical.
He is definitely one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is challenging, but is always willing to help you. I would suggest taking any of his classes.
Lecture is interesting but tests/quizes are really hard.
Escoto is hilarious so his classes are always fun to go to. However, he's VERY hard so be sure to keep up on your reading.
the class was hard. i mean, dr. escoto is really interesting and funny for his personality, but his quizzes/hw are hard and you have to keep up with the work. you have to do this big paper for him, no final though.
Um.. Very hard class. Fun professor but if you are the type to go into something with a negative feeling do not do that for this class because the outcome will be just that. No final but there is a midterm. The final consist of a 10-15 page research proposal, very detailed so goodluck.
This professor is very hard and confusing. he thinks that he is "preparing" you for future classes/grad school by being ridiculously hard, but instead he just makes you more and more confused and you dont end up learning anything
Very tough, but seems to really want everyone to pass. Don't take him unless you are willing to do the work. Great if you are thinking about grad school.
he sucks!! I'm doinf well in the class but i can't stand him.
My favorite Professor ever. No ****, he teaches you exactly what you need to know. If you attend every class and keep up with your work the quizes and tests are no problem. He's very interesting and fun, and extremely helpful. I would take him for any psych class Eastern has to offer.
hated this class material-wise but he was very helpful and fun. loved the stories he told too. this class is A LOT of work, but he'll help you through it. and he'll never test you on things he never taught in class... unlike most profs at eastern.
He is really nice but the class sucks!! He thinks he is helping you but you end up totally alone with no help. He is SO self-righteous avoid him if you can
He LOVES to hear himself talk!!! He is SO smart but unwilling to help. he pretends like he cares but he doesn't and class time is a WASTE OF TIME!!! avoid him if you can
HORRIBLE! he never helps you. he always says refer to this or refer to that.

Dr Escoto is an over-acheiver, started his education later in life, very demanding, an incredible amount of work for an undergraduate class. I have learned an amazing amount from his class but after the fact and it will never show up in my grades. The class should be taught backwards and i would be able to benefit from the learning and a good grad
the class material is broad and there's a loooot of stuff to learn (regardless of who your prof. is). Generally, he explains things pretty well and even if he doesn't he is constantly online and responds to e-mails in about 10 minutes. The quizzes are really hard-like having an exam every week but there's a lot of them to help balance your grade
Never take him for research methods!!
aweful
strongly dislike
Very Smart..but very tough grader average grade for our final in the class was a 65..with 7 people getting a 70 or below...
Positive Psychology was an interesting class. Too much homework and he makes students take two-hour online tests every weekend.
absolutely horrible..never take him
Tough grader, attending class is key.
I don't understand all these negative comments; I really don't. Everyone in my class, including myself, absolutely loves him. He's absolutely hilarious and makes class fun. He's not an easy teacher, but he's not hard. Pay attention and take notes and you'll get a good grade. :)
He is a good teacher, very enthusiastic. I liked him. there is no way you cannot pass his class/
Great! Honest, funny, and practical. Class is hard but he gives a lot of work so that if you mess up on stuff, you have many many other chances to raise your grade.
Extremely helpful and just overall a great teacher and a great person. Honest, funny, makes class fun and interesting. Inspirational.
Very interesting class. Lots of work but Escoto is hilarious and inspirational.
Hell of a lot of work for a one credit class, but you get used to it. Good, useful information.
Hilarious & helpful w anything. Down to earth, & very intelligent. Lot of work, but it's stuff like resumes & things that are actually useful later. Only 2 quizes, not tests, 1 portfolio.Responds quickly to email. I didn't do well, but that was bc I had another very challenging class & had to prioritize, ie. miss stuff in his class. Overall, great.
A LOT of work for this class with him. Even when i did all the work it still wasn't good enough, he wants it done his way. Confusing. He was funny though. But take some of his advice it helps.
very energetic and funny. makes class super fun. tough grader and assigned a lot of homework for a 1 credit class.
Absolutely terrible. never helps with anything, doesn't explain why you get the grades that you do. i do not recommend at all.
Took this online during the winter session - very intense 4 weeks. Grading was fair - written comments about assignment grades would have been helpful. When I emailed asking about a grade, the prof responded quickly. A few extra credit assignments were added, which helped.
Soo down to earth. Grading is hard yet fair. Jokes around in class a lot. Understands and gets to know every student. Very motivational professor and class. I can't wait to take another class with him.
He's a strict grader but very down to Earth and with a great sense of humor. He is very easy to talk to and relatable, he loves what he teaches and it shows. I thouroughly enjoyed the class.
The worst professor I've ever had. Yes, he jokes and seems having a good personality, but as a teacher he is terrible! If students don't understand what he'd just said he gets frustrated and asks a TA to do the job. Very hyper and agitated by simple things. Grading is unfair and has teacher's pets. Many students wander why he is still teaching.
Smart but not helpful at all.
This class is very hard. Had him in another class and it too was very hard. HARD grader. Unfair in grading in this class. Expects you to remember a lot/specifics for quizzes (very specifics). Weekly quizzes and HW assignments. A lot of work in his class.
Professor Escoto is the best psychology teacher you will have. However, he thrives on assignments and quizzes. If your goal is to get an A in the course you better be prepared to write everything he says down. I found it helpful to record his lectures and listen to them while studying. He is challenging but very dedicated and inspirational.
This was Intro to the Psych Major, a one credit class that had more work than any of my three credit classes. If you want to work hard and get challenged, then I would reccomanded him. But, if you want an A and you don't want to put in three times the work that you thik you should be, then don't take him. But, he is a really funny person.
willing to help in everything he taught, make sure you write down everything he says, I recommend taping lectures that will help when studying. Attendance counts for a lot, BE THERE and be dedicated and you will pass!
It is extremely difficult to meet Escoto's every demand. He is extremely difficult to please. If you can take ANYONE else for ANY other class, do it. Tailoring your life to fit his every need (exact wording, perfect definitions, etc) takes the work of 3 classes, not 1. Does not care for students wellbeing and not helpful or flexible. DO NOT TAKE.
Super nice and funny professor. BUT it is so hard to do well on his assignments/exams. You think you learned everything and then the quizzes come and they aren't parallel to what he discussed (most of the time). Anytime someone asked a question he immediately shot back telling them to go look for the answer. hard to please.
Would not recommend him. He speaks very fast and will not slow down or clarify information when asked. He gets easily frustrated when students don't understand him and he refuses to assist with graded assignments. His exams are very difficult, as are his quizzes. I am almost certain anyone could do better in the same class taught by someone else.
He is not helpful at all! When asked to clarify something he would say "go back and read the book" and even after the fact the chapter was read and still had questions he would completely disregard the fact that i was confused. Not helpful and very arrogant!
AWFUL! Wouldn't recommend him. He is by far the worst professor I have ever had in my 4 years of college. He does not take attendance but told me I was absent even though I was there and was planning on failing me although I completed all of my assignments. I had a legitimate illness at one point and he worked against me. He is a nightmare.
Escoto is a good professor, that is if you pay attention and engage in class. He's very honest about your progress and does notice when you make an effort. His classes are tough, but you learn a great deal. As a professor, he's very friendly and remembers students. His door is always open if you ever want or need to talk, he's a great person.
Got an 89 in the class, was so close to an A-! This class requires a lot of attention & work outside of the classroom. There were times where I became frustrated - however it is a college class so do not expect it to be all that easy! I became actually quit fascinated with health psychology. Make sure you constantly check the calendar on BB for hw!
This was a very difficult class, but Escoto definitely gave the help needed when asked for it and you clearly are putting in your best effort.
He was very unhelpful, a bit of a perfectionist, and expected a lot. I had him for 2classes this yr, and I will never take him again. Me and at least 3 other students had to put his Sexuality course on PF. Expect long hmwk for little points, tests every week, and alot of reading. And you also may miss an entire chptr if u skip a class.
This was a hard class, but as long as you are willing to put the work in then you will enjoy the class!
This really was a difficult class but as long as you are willing to put your work into it then it becomes much easier. He is one of the best professors you can go talk to if you need something!
too much work for a one credit course.
He gives extra credit throughout which is super helpful. He's really funny, and he's really easy to understand. He's super nice and he cares that we get good grades but he does make you work for it. But we only meet once a week so homework is obvious.
Dr. Escoto is one of the few professors that is actually willing to help you when you need it. He definitely is a tough grader but if you show that you are trying your best then he will offer his help.
Too much of a tough grader, even on the extra credit. He doesn't give helpful feed back other then "needs more details." Will never ever take him again. He gave 27 videos for us to watch in a matter of a few days and expected us to write a discussion on it and include details from each and every video... I can see a few videos but not 27, be real.
Overall Professor Escoto knew what he was talking about. That does not mean that he was a good professor. This was my first class in my three years at Eastern that I had to put on credit no credit. At the end of the semester, I did not even compete the final because there was no point, I was not going to get credit for the class.
He is a funny guy but that is about it. I did all my work in his class just the way he asked and yet he gave me 5 out of ten on almost all. When I ask questions he seams to interrupt and rush me. I felt anxious and uneasy.
Super funny guy and cracks wildly good jokes. He means well and is generally available after class. There IS some work to put in for a 1 credit class - mostly online but he's a super tough grader when it comes to the homework. No such thing as a 100 on an assignment.
took his class intro to the psych major. Gives homework and grades it very unfairly. He seams to pick favorites. rushes you or seams to get mad when you ask questions. might be funny but crappy professor. unfair grader. One of the worst teachers and Im saying that because I'm very hard working student who was not given credit were credit is due.
he's a funny guy and not uninteresting to listen to. the assignments themselves are easy, if tedious. however, he grades these easy assignments so toughly in a one credit class for no reason. even when you try to give a good effort he finds things to nitpick at, which makes you wonder what he even wants from you. i wouldnt take this professor again
Professor Escoto is incredibly intelligent, but is one hell of a tough grader. Gives an assignment after every lecture which requires way too much work for a one credit class. To make matter worse he grades incredibly unfairly. There were so many assignments I believed I should have gotten an A on but instead found myself looking at an 8 out of 10.
If you do not show up for every class session you will not pass. The quizzes are based off of what he says during the lecture so pay attention. Print out the slides for class for each chapter! Do all assignments far in advance. Very interesting and funny and passionate about his work, intellectually stimulating but a very hard class, not an easy A!
Worst teacher at ECSU. Acts like he cares about student but in reality he could not care less. He says he wants you to pass but makes it EXTREMELY difficult to do so. He tells you to go to his office hours yet will not help you and rather just makes you feel stupid and little.
A lot of work for a 1 credit class. The work and effort required is more like a 3 credit class. Follow his directions for assignments, put lots of effort and detail into them and you will be fine. If you only do assignments halfway and rushed, he can tell and you will get a bad grade. No tests, just assignments and reflective essay at the end.
It was my biggest mistake to take his class as a summer class. He's a very hard grader, had zero empathy for things that happen in your life, and I've been told he enjoys making students cry.
DONT TAKE THIS PROF FOR BEHAV SCIENCE STATS! THIS IS A WARNIG! By far the RUDEST hardest prof. Multiple times there have been test answers marked wrong that were correct on my quizzes, but don't ask questions bc all you will get is "can't tell you. what do you think" for EVERYTHING. clearly if im askng questions to LEARN I NEED HELP THATS Y IM HERE!
The first day of class he will charm you with his humor and lightheartedness. DONT LET THIS FOOL YOU. He makes things extremely hard to pass, can't count how many times I've cried bc he has made me feel stupid. He even emailed multiple people in my class saying they should consider a different major because they're not good at psych. messed up.
By far the worst professor I have ever taken at Eastern. Extremely rude and not willing to help students understand the material further than what he says on the powerpoints. Quizzes almost every single week and does not give partial credit. Very tough grader, if you skip class a lot you will not do well in this class.
Not clear during class, talks AT you not to you. Says he's explained things well enough and will tell you that when you go to him for help. Does not give partial credit. Not lenient with assignments. Difficult to approach, makes you feel stupid. I had constant anxiety in every single class. "wants to help" but said he couldn't help me after day 2.
Very unhelpful, would read my emails and just not respond. Refused to answer questions, would say "I already explained that" or "figure it out." Unfair grader, if he marked my right answer wrong on a test and I asked him to correct it he would get mad at me. Not nearly enough time given on quizzes. Made me feel stupid for not understanding things.
by far the worst professor at eastern. He is extremely hard and offers no help further than what he says ONE TIME. We are expected to write a research paper with absolutely no guidance besides what he mentions once in class. If you ask for clarification, you wont get it. its frustrating bc every student wants to succeed but its impossible
I got A's in every other class this semester except this ONE CREDIT CLASS. I put in 8 hours of work on an assignment and send it to him to get the only feedback as "needs more detail". All I learned in this class is how he dropped out of highschool to smoke weed.
Doesn't care about students. Doesn't answer questions when asked, just makes students feel bad for not knowing/gets audibly frustrated with them for not understanding. Gives 'homework' due the same same day an hour after it is assigned. When grading takes points off for every little thing. Unclear about expectations but acts like he's being clear.
Doesn't care about students, and rarely answers questions even when he prompts us to ask them. Isn't clear about expectations, then grades harshly and doesn't explain why he gives the grade. Outright rude to students that can't meet his abstract expectations and acts like he's doing us a favor by even showing up to class. Worst professor I've had
By far the worst professor I have ever had. He is apathetic, condescending, and rude. He has 'homework' that's a quiz due an hour after class. He belittles students and makes them feel stupid to the point that they quietly cry in the middle of class. His grading criteria is illogical. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR.
The feedback he gives makes no sense, he moves way too quickly during lectures, the median of my class was a 60 and basically everyone failed. There is absolutely zero way to pass his class outside of pure luck. The answers on tests must be worded EXACTLY as he wants them to even if they are super specific or not studyable outside of class.
Genuinely worst professor I have ever encountered in my life. Emphasizes detail but no amount of detail is ever enough. He gives templates for some assignments and when you follow them you still fail. Gives literally no feedback ever so you don't even know why you failed the assignment. Do yourself a favor and never take a class taught by him.
Please, if you have the ability to don't take this professor! He isn't worth it. I've had him for three different classes and each time I wished I had another professor teaching me. He does not try to work with you, he is way too strict (coming from an over achiever and perfectionist here!). The majority of students do not get good grades from him.
If I could give this professor a zero I would he is one of the worst professors I've ever had in my life and if you have the chance to not take his class do it. He will give you bad grades on literally everything and not explain to you why it's bad or what you can do to improve it for the next assignment. He will belittle you as well.
Professor Escoto was a nice guy, but had unrealistic expectations for the class. First being giving us 40 minutes to complete quizzes/ tests. The material in the tests and quizzes were based on what he said in class and little from the textbook. He did not give us a chance to understand our mistakes so you would just get poor grades.
the worst professor/teacher ive ever had, makes me depressed
The less than 10% "would take again" statistic should tell you all you need to know about this professor. With my own awful experiences with him in two classes, and from the ones I read on here, I'm shocked that he still has a job here. Avoid taking his courses at all costs. It is well known by psych students at Eastern that Escoto is the worst.
I had an F in the class early on (still possible to pass) and stayed up all night studying for the first exam. When I went in to take it, he pulled me into the hallway and told me not to because my grade was so low. I told him I studied a lot and he simply did not care. Retook the class with a different professor (Cousins) and got an A-.
The class is very easy, only assignments, no final or midterm. Try to take it with any other teacher. Do not be fooled on the first day of classes by him. He is an unfair grader and gives 6/10 on assignments you did your very best on. He is also not very friendly when asked why you got the grade.
This class was by far the worse class I have ever taken, at eastern and throughout my entire academic career. He was extremely unprofessional in his conduct with our class, and was rude and unhelpful, in addition to insulting us to our faces and making fun of us for asking questions. He had very unclear instructions and was an extremely hard grader
there was homework every week but we would meet every Wednesday he's nice but sometimes his words can be taken the hard way but its an okay class so
His instructions are so unclear and contradictory. His modules make no sense, and lectures are outdated so it doesn't connect to the rest of the assignments actually posted to do. Extremely hard grader even on the extra credit assignments. Very upsetting and never, ever again.
Dr. Escoto is retiring so I don't think anyone will need this but I think he was a pretty nice guy. His lectures were sometimes confusing and so were his assignments. He gives weekly assignments but is generally easy going with the students.
Worst class I've taken. Zero feedback on the grades he gave and when I asked for feedback and how to improve he didn't answer. Amount of questions on tests increased and were on more content each week but same amount of time was given (not a enough time). Directions on assignments were confusing. Class average was a 60 so I think that says enough.
I actually loved Professor Escoto! I was nervous because of his rating but I spoke with him before and after class and he is super nice and was willing to help me decide things on my major and classes. He was funny too. I honestly think some students just didnt want to put in the work for a one credit class but I liked him a lot. Will miss him!
He makes it so easy to ask questions and feel confident leaving the classroom that you know what he is teaching. The issue comes with the assignments and grading. Although the work looks simple, it takes HOURS and he expects a ton of detail. He gives little to no feedback yet is a very harsh grader, it is near impossible to know what to improve on.
Professor Escoto is misrepresented here. He is a tough grader and you need to pay attention to lectures the whole time, but he cares about his students and accommodates to their needs by providing extra credit, take home quizzes, open note quizzes, and will let you send your hw in before you submit. He is funny, tells stories, and is very passionate
This professor is unfair and not logical. This class took up my ENTIRE life. He gives no feedback and grades unfairly. Many of his assignments are not clear and take HOURS to complete. I am an A student and I got a C+ in his class. I did extra credit when time allowed. He actually grades you on attendance on online class - ridiculous!
I had Escoto for a one credit class. He would mass grade all assignments with no feedback. When asked why I got such low grades, he said I had to give him less work. I was still getting low grades and he told me to give him more work. He also would not accept my doctors note when I missed a few assignments due to having a severe ear infection.
He tries to penalize you for absences even with a doctors note, his grading makes not sense. He will not try to find a way to work something out with you if you missed a class or don't understand something, he will simply just tell you to go back to the book and read or instead go see the TA.
I had him in Fall of 2020. He was tough and unreasonable. I ended with an A, but there were assignments I lost points on when even the TA said they looked correct. I hadn't left a review before, but now I've graduated and multiple friends have told me that he blatantly ignored their accommodations and ridiculed their disabilities.
Escoto was a horrible professor to have. His "feedback" was nothing more than "this is incorrect" and "apa is wrong." No explanation was given besides that. I submitted my papers to multiple professionals who do Stats and APA every day, and even to two AI sites to make sure it was good. He failed every single paper with no explanation.
