Excellent Teacher, take a while to grade papers but will help you out if you need it. Great notes, and he always gives the question to a test before. Sometimes even gives take home test. A lot of bad jokes but by the end of the semester you get use to it. Highly recommend taking this teacher, specially for hiegher level mathematics.

Professor Gil is a very clear and organized teacher of mathematics. He provides excellent notes that allows students to effectively prepare for his exams. I had him and he is a great professor. I will admit, he shows up late, saying its because people wanted to take pictures of his beautiful face. He is also a sarcastic person. He breaks down the notes and he gives 10 questions on his test. He gives credit for little assignments he wants you to do in his class and even for attendance.

Carlos Gil is an excellent profeesor for those just starting their math career(1033) or beginners(1105). His teaching style is clear and enjoyable. Not only will you learn but you will understand. He avaiable after classes and he keeps his office appointment. Highly recommended if you don't like math or just need a math credit.

The best teacher ever if you are willing to learn and work. HW is a MUST, coming to class is very helful. Do HW and ask questions, try to be as nice as you can. His test are not hard if you do HW. Best MAC 1140 teacher out there! The first day, he sounds all mean, but he is a down to earth teacher who is willing to teach! Five test that are hard but if you study your notes and do all the homework, you will get an A! For this class, you can not slack off and you need to be on top of things! TAKE HIM!

I had him for calculus and statistics. his classes r hella tough, but listen to me, DO NOT DROP THE CLASS! even if u failed every test! as long as he knows who u r, n u dont drop the class, he'll still pass u. i failed 4 out the 6 tests in calculus and failed the final, i still passed wit a B.

Don't listen to the rest of these retards on here. If you're serious about math, then Gil is the guy to take. He's not a tutor. He shows up and does a lecture like an actual college professor. He doesn't waste time taking a lot of questions, so if you're the type of person who has difficulty understanding things, don't take him.

In this class you have to work double-time. His grading scale is horrible, but his lectures are great. He can teach, but for any minor mistake on the test he will literally give 0.25 points for a long answer question. For instance, missin the x and y values on the graph even if the graph is totally correct.

Best Mathematics professor I have ever had. He teaches very well, knows his material perfectly, and helps you when you need it. Don't expect him to study for you. He's there to teach you, not to unfairly pass you when you do not make the extra effort to seek other resources!! I would take him a million more times if I could.

Prof Gil goes off on tangents during class. One time he went off on a tangent about how his parents must've been wrong in raising him to be respectful to his teachers bc someone's phone went off in class! Ok lectures but he's not helpful. If you suck at math, dont take him.

At the beginning of the semester he was absent a lot of times. The times he was present he would get to class late.After the drop date passed, he improved a lot. His exams are not tricky but he will deduct points for anything. Never collects hw but if you do it you will do good in the test. He explains very clearly.

I had him for fall term of 2009. He is kind of a jerk cus he will say "go back to algebra class" whenever you ask questions. This causes him to seem unapproachable which is kinda true since he will answer SOME questions. I think he is a great professor.About 98% of all test questions come from the h.w. (not mandatory).Uses book to explain problems.

Professor Gil is so amazing! I was at first scared prior to entering the class b/c of his ratings but he is just great. Lectures are clear, hw is not mandatory, your choice, and test are short and is everything that he told you would be on it. He always wants his students to pass and to learn math. Just make sure you STUDY! He is great!

This instructor really knows his stuff, he solve amny examples on the board and recommends exercise from the book to practice. The tests basically come from exercises done in class and from the homework assign by him. Good teacher!!!!

Professor Gil is a wonderful professor. I earned myself a 92% overall, so the class is passable not impossible. If you're a good student and a good note-taker, his class would come easy.

BEST TEACHER EVER! the test are not that hard, you just need to study a little, he helps by curving grades. In our class he had a little surprise for the final. Most of the class got A's! don't listen to these other cry baby's. they fail because they didn't study. its college, you study or fail, but he is really helpful.

He is a very good professor. Make sure you do your homework even though he does not collect it. Also, make sure you study for his test. Study all of his examples he teaches in class and follow which questions he gives for review because it comes on the test. Only 3 test and never show up late for his class or the whole class gets a quiz.

Prof. Gil is an excellent professor. he explains very well because he knows the subject. If you go to class, respect the professor, and study for the test yo will be fine. the test are really easy because everything is from the class. I going take him again because he taught me a lot.

Gil is actually a really good professor. He goes over the material extremely well, every second of the class is not wasted. He'll teach from when class starts till class ends. Take notes of everything he writes. Oh and even though the HW isn't graded, you have to do them if you want to pass his tests.

This professor is just amazing. His lectures are crystal clear therefore making the material easy to understand. However, you do have to study hard if you want to pass the class. I've also had this prof. for Cal 2 & 3. His lectures are long and you most likely won't have learned anything, so that's why you HAVE TO DO THE HW. The homework is optional but all his tests are based off the homework. He only assigns odd questions.

Professor Gils class was my favorite last semester. He was very attentive, clear and loved teaching Statistics. His class was very helpful for me as it led me to understand easily. Textbook is not required but you must do the H.W which is very similar to his test, always be on time and pay attention. Great professor.

Attendance is mandatory, keep that in mind. Pay close attention to his explanations and don't be afraid to ask questions. DO NOT take him. I worked my butt off in this class, never missed a day, did all the hw/quizes, yet, it still wasn't good enough for him I guess. He doesn't give you your grades on ALL of your assignments, so you won't even know where you stand in the class. I didn't fail the class, but I was definitely expecting a higher grade.

Professor Gil is very helpful. He explains the material clearly, and he makes sure everyone understands. The tests are kind of hard, but if you study the notes he gives in class there's no reason to fail. He makes the class laugh by making a lot of jokes. If you don't want a canceled test, don't use your phone. He's great!

Carlos Gil is a brilliant mathematician. He teaches even the hardest topics with ease and even goes greater into depth. Homework is assigned but not mandatory. However, it is the best way to prepare for his tests. 3 Tests in a semester, one is usually take home. Great corny jokes. However, if you disrespect him, you're in for a surprise.

He is a really great professor who knows a lot about math. He goes over many of the problems in the text book after each section and makes sure you know what will be on the tests. Professor Gil goes to extreme lengths to explain every theory and process, it's incredible as he does it all from memory. He's a brilliant mathematician with a sharp, witty sense of humor. He must curve, because I was just hoping to pass and I got an A without doing the extra credit. I attended every class, took notes dutifully and respected him.

Extremely thorough- gives tons of examples and detailed explanation. Answers questions, little homework (easy), simple tests (gives you sample questions in class). In my summer class, he even allowed cheat sheets! Great professor, easy A, and learned lots! Wish all my math teachers were like him! (Accent doesn't interfere with class, no textbook)

Lectures are clear & to the point. He has a corny sense of humor. Homework is only for practice. DO NOT USE YOUR CELL! Turn it off until class is over or he will give you a pop quiz. Show time ladies and gentleman! I took Gil for Cal2 and I'm so glad I did. No his class is not easy but if you study everyday you will pass. He goes fast but that's because calculus covers a lot of material and you need to make sure you go to tutoring if you do not understand something. Honestly made an account just for this professor. I showed to class everyday (except when I was dying and had to stay home). He pretty much just grades his exam, which you have no idea how you do because he doesn't tell you.... There is a take home exam. Which helps A LOT. Ended with an A :) this professor taught in a way I understood. Showtime!

I really will not understand the comments and rating for professor Gil. One person said Random pop quizzes for anything and tough grader but EVERYONE PASSED!!!! Hello!!!! that's GREAT. I took Gil's Calc 2 course for summer B and it was quite a ride. The man will not baby you one bit. The uncertainty made me study twice as hard and I walked out feeling confident in my Math skills. I don't know how I did on my tests because he doesn't hand them back. However, I'm glad I took him. I feel like he set up a great foundation for us.

I took Gil for my 2nd chance at STAT. I took him for summer A on sat. I am horrible at math by horrible I mean just that. He doesn't return quizzes or test so u never know what u got. U have to study a lot day after day. He is a hard grader, and cracks jokes here and there but not funny at all. Hes a ok guy. At the end I passed after failing.

He is a great professor, he knows his very well math, and teach well.

Prof. Gil at first may seem intimidating and his class may be tough and fast, well I took him for 6 weeks Cal 2 and it was tough but if you want an A I suggest you do all the practice problems for each section, thats basically the test. Hes super understanding once you speak to him outside of class and if he sees you put effort he will pass you!

This professor is a genius He was was able to recite a >3 he lecture with organization by memory. Luckily, he does not expect you to be a genius too. He gives extra credit and pop quizzes. He also credits you for showing up to class on time and for staying the entire time Turn off your cell phone, sit in the front and participate.

Contrary to popular belief Mr gil will not pass you for trying your best. Some students have not read his rules nor do they understand proper math--thus leaving them confused as to why they passed the course. 1 of my friends that took the class along side me nearly sufficated of sleep deprivation because of this course, but failed non the less.

Yes there is pop quizzes but if you are punctual for class they're an easy A. I'm the worst at math and I needed to pass this class at all costs. Going to his office hours was the best thing i've could've done. He helped me out with future tests and I ended up passing by miracle. Becuz this was a math class and we were meeting through black board because of the pandemic, his lectures weren't really helpful. Math is something that needs to be taught face to face but by doing the homework assignments you'll learn enough to pass exams. When doing homework press "help me solve this" before attempting so you get a step by step

After taking the class I can see now that each one of those reviews taken into context are just those who are lazy and blame the professor. Gil is strict, but not bad at any means. Rough, I struggled a lot at the beginning, but it got better. In tests DO EVERYTHING AS HE OR THE BOOK SAYS. Otherwise, you'll fail. You'll learn and all the information that you need will be on Canvas. Don't study using Pearson use the Canvas Modules.

Struggled with this class. Professor is unfunny/easily irritable. Is a tough grader to the point that you will lose points for one mistake. Frequently assigns homework. Failed every exam. He gets a 5 due to him still passing me because of the extra credit and curve. Attend every lecture, do all the homework + exams + extra credit and you will pass.

I took him for trig, calc 1, and 2. If you like math and are interested in taking future math classes, definitely take him. He is super knowledgeable on the subject and you will learn. The tests are hard and you do have to study for them, but he gives plenty of examples and practice exams to help.
