If you like reading, then he's the one. Get ready for the essays...and he's never happy with yout writting...you can work as hard as you can, it will be kind of hard to get an A, specially with the essays. Sometimes he's unfair when it comes to grading...

Also don't worry if you start off bad due to the interest on the given material, because in the end he mainly looks for progress!

He is a really good professor. He is not an ordinary professor. If you are a person who can't think out of the box do not take his class. 1101 and 1102 were the most meaningful classes I took.

Gonzalez is a really funky, quirky, and genuine professor. At first his methods can be obscure but once you get the hang of it - its nothing but clear skies and smooth sailing.

This class has honestly been one of the most touching and significant classes ever. He is a wonderful teacher and mentor.. a true healer. It is in fact difficult, but he gives you reason to work hard for it (other than superficial reasons like a grade). If you are an open person, take the class without even THINKING TWICE..

He is a very relaxed guy want to know your opinion , you have to read and you have the opportunity to write in your own style not just 5 paragrapgh thesis conclusion, the books he assigns for readings are very interesting book with deep topics that you will discuss in class.

Dude! Let me tell you! This teacher is as good as they get! I had him for Virtual College (no longer on there) and his class was so easy! The books he wanted us to read were great; he liked reading from the NY Times Top 10 book list. Take this class if you like "feeling" subject matter instead of just "aimlessly" learning it.

Carlos is amazing, he is all about showing you new things. Just like Alex Salinas, his class is more than just english. These two are such a dynamic duo, they care so much about opening your mind to ideas most people never think of on their own. You have to come in with an open mind & expect anything bc this class is not for all/like others...

After taking this class you will never see the world and humanity in the same way. He is truly an AMAZING teacher. The only bad thing is you have to do community service but it's not that many hours. If you have problems opening up to people or don't have time to be involve in any extra curricular activities don't even take this class, it goes beyond books.It Rocks!

I really liked this class. I felt it covered a lot of things I felt as being important to me and hopefully others. I became a better writer, but this class was about more than that. If you're open minded and don't mind doing some self-discovery, this class is great. If that's not the case, don't bother and find someone less inspired to teach you.

This is a great professor, it is true you have to work, there are others that almost burden you with work, with him it is not like that. He makes de class interesting and meaningful. Professor Gonzalez cares about his students and is willing to help you pass. I don't consider myself a great writer and did well. There are a couple essays here and there as well as a service learning project. Beware out of class essays are worth 60% of final grade.

Class is always interesting. There is a lot of writing, but that is to be expected from an english comp. class. He likes for you to write what you are passionate about, then he helps you hone your writing skills and tighten up your work. He has students critique each other's papers which helps a lot. His class is fun and he's a great professor.

You're expected to stay on top of your work & keep up with your assignments so don't take this class if you plan on slacking or think you won't have to do any work. But like I said, GREAT PROFESSOR!

His class is motivating and inspiring. A new kind of learning, and well rounded. It's a great class to boost your GPA and improve your writing in a way that you don't even notice. This class is not hard at all but you definetly can't slack. You have to stay on top of all the assignments he assigns. This class is very life motivating and you are going to be very much involved trust me you will like it especially the fact that you get to watch episodes of Lost all the time.

His class is fun and he is kinda funny. I have learned a lot in this class and the work is easy and fun. In this class you have to do a lot of reading and essays, but it is easy. Overall he is great, fun, nice, patient, and respectful. I will totally recomend him to anyone.

Had this professor for both ENC1101 and ENC1102. He's awesome! I loved the class! He forces you to work with others on some things but I'm glad he did. I have made great friends in that class and have learned a lot. He keeps the class interesting and yes you have to write a lot but its not a bother. I really enjoyed it! HIGHLY recommended!

This is one of my favorite teachers at MDC. He's a great teacher. Majority of everything you do is online and social networks which makes it easy because, we all know how to use that.

Taking this class with Professor Gonzalez has been an amazing experience. I think Professor Gonzalez is a perfect balance between learning and having fun. You get to work with new people and learn how to review your own writing. Attendance is important to pass the class, but it is worth it. I would love to take ENC1102 with him.

This isn't like an english class I have taken, but by far, the best class I registered for. He teaches you how to find yourself as well as writing techniques. It's a pretty easy class, as long as you don't slack. He always keeps the class interesting, you will never get bored. I highly recommend on taking his classes.

This is not your average English class. No tests, No textbooks, and yoga! The whole class consists of essays. Don't underestimate the laid back vibes of this class, you need to do the work! Also you ALWAYS work in groups. This is a cool class to be in, but it's not slack.

Honestly it's super easy. He gives a lot of work like each week you have to read a bunch of articles or videos then in a learning log he asks you to either answer question or give your opinion. He gives you 100 if you do it I mean it's ALOT but just do it even if it's poorly written you'll get 100. He might send you to writing lab though but still.

If I can take him over and OVER again, I would. One of the best professors I've had so far. No textbook is required, only learning logs and "at home Yoga." It's nice to have change in a class. Also, class participation is essential to pass, but with a teacher like him, it isn't a drag. Would definitely recommend to everyone!

No need for a book, but you do need to sign up for an online yoga class. Groups are put together 1st week and you are stuck with your group for the rest of the semester. Do your weekly learning log or you will not pass. They are time consuming, but fairly easy. Final learning log is 50% of your grade. He does give extra credit "errands", do them.

No Tests! You will write a lot though, but he will help you at any cost to make sure you do well. The writing is actually fun, and gives you relatable topics. He is an awesome professor and you won't regret taking his class. It's not a typical English class, but you'll get a lot more out of it. Make sure you have a lot of canned food stored up!

I have never been more fond of someone in my life. Prof. Gonzalez is the absolute best professor I've had yet. This class is no ordinary english class, expect to do a lot of soul searching and a lot of interacting. Easy class, he mostly grades on participation so if you show up to class and bring what he asks, you get an A for the day. Barely any reading or writing. He gives you feedback on your essays and gives you many chances to make it better. He also gives you many extra credit opportunities so you should be fine if you put a little work in to it.

Half of class time is in class, other half is doing yoga. Doing the yoga is mandatory! If you do all assignments you will pass. 4 at home essays. He really does make you participate in class. He's an easy going prof and makes you look at life in a diff perspective. You also have to bring canned food every class. Made the class fun Would take again!

Mr. Gonzalez is a really cool guy but as a teacher he is not that great. He takes too long to grade papers. He doesn't give any tests but has 3 or 4 papers that make or break your grade to which he doesn't give clear Instructions. Personally I wouldn't take him again you won't learn anything and don't buy the book that he wrote he never uses it.

Bring a can of food everyday for attendance and do yoga once a week. essays were very simple and he's a very good grader. If you need help he's there for you. There's homework but it's super simple. I'm not a good writer and I passed with a B only bc I missed 1 essay.

Carlos is one of the best English professors you will ever take. He's intelligent, funny, very patient and best of all; He can actually relate to students. He doesn't treat you as a subordinate. He treats you as an equal.

Professor Gonzalez will talk nonstop about nutrition and you will have to partake in Yoga sessions if you want to pass. Never the less, his strange teaching methods really help you change the way you see things. Most of us have never seen learning like this or had a teacher who cared if we ate Wendy's. I am a currently taking his class. All I have to say is good things about him. His teaching method goes beyond grammar correction. He grades the papers depending on your effort, there is no right and wrong. He really does care for his students and the material that we are going over is very interesting (politics, nutrition and racism).

I LOVE Carlos!!!! I wish I could take all of his classes. He's a wonderful man, very politically outspoken. Despite our different views he is really caring. He makes you get personal in your writings which I find to be amazing.

He will tell you straight up what you need to do. He uses Google classroom and be ready to speak up and do yoga. He's pretty chill and pretty spiritually I liked him.

He's an overall decent professor. It might seem like he gives A LOT of homework but most of it is super easy. Attendance is not THAT important but it is a grade so maybe for some people. Easy B and he can actually teach you some things about life. You get into groups and wow I felt like I was in a therapy session, some students cried but thats ok.

Professor Gonzalez is a really great professor. He cares about what the student put in his paper. He does try to get to everyone of his student but he does talk a lot in class and having him for only 50min didn't help him aswell with trying to help every student. He does give homework but it is easy only time consuming.

Gonzalez is an excellent professor. If you're looking into more essay writing than tests, he's the professor for you. He even lets you write your essays instead of specific prompts. He gives awesome advice not only towards essay writing, but also health wise. He also makes you do yoga which is really fun and relaxing especially around finals week.

Not your typical professor I would say, he's very big on nutrition and these really weird topics.. The homework is super easy just really boring and long. Extra credit is super easy too and theres 0 test! Attendance is mandatory tho but its a super easy class, he's a great professor he just makes you write and think outside of the norm.

Gonzalez is a super chill guy all around. He cares tremendously about helping each and every student in his class to evolve in their writing skills. You only have to write like 3 essays and theres no tests at all, but there is a lot of boring video watching and note taking. He also does a few yoga lessons, which was surprisingly my favorite part.

Professor Gonzalez isn't like every other English. There will be a lot of writing assignments, essays and extra credit opportunities. At the end he lets you write an essay on what grade you think you deserve regardless of what else you've done. Very easy A, but if you don't show progress he will drop you out of the class.

Only had 3 essays no final and the book for his class is 99 cents. He gives homework and a lot of extra credit.

I am not a fan of the whole hippie yoga aesthetic but he's cool. The class is easy a few essays and a lot of sharing. It felt kind of like therapy.

This guy is a (10+). If you take his class you would have to work, but is super easy and you will learn a lot of interesting and useful things, is a very particular class. Expect to get out of your comfort zone, it will be worth it. Also you will get the opportunity to volunteer at the WOW center and see they amazing work.

Hes an amazing professor who cares VERY much for his students. He even hands out his personal phone number to students for any questions they might have outside of the classroom.

If you're looking for a sign of which English class to take, this is it, take him. You will not find a better Professor. Just log onto Zoom, do the easy assignment, and enjoy his class. Homework is about once a week, NO MIDTERM, NO FINAL. Group work in the beginning and then no more, it's a piece of cake. He's the only person that is excited at 7AM

Homework heavy class but, very lenient with grading. You can resubmit assignments with poor grades.

He gives a lot of homework but plenty of time. He made us buy his book and we had to read and summarize each part. 2 in-class essays (50 minutes) about the film "Moonlight". 25% of our grade is the final essay, which has to be about a very personal experience. A lot of group projects, one interview essay with a partner and a group essay.

Great style of learning and support from the professor. Assigns work with enough time and explanation. Learned many different forms of dialogue in writing. Always available to help when you need it most.

Easy A. There are no textbook, tests, or quizzes. He gives a lot of feedback, and the assignments require you to pay attention. If you want to be lazy, this isn't the class for you. Sometimes he assigns a lot, but I would always get it all done in 2 hours. Highly recommend! He's pretty cool (:

Carlos Gonzalez was my first English teacher in MDC. I loved him, he was my favorite teacher that semester and i'll always remember him. He truly cares about you and your mental health. He has a book that he created and you read it and create summaries on it and they're graded. 40% Of your grade is a final essay.

The class itself is very easy. But it doesn't feel like an English class. A lot of meditation ago, he sent us to watch a lot of movies and take specific notes. It only gives a grade to assignments that say they are worth some percentage. I did essays, projects, notes and none of them got a grade. keep in mind that you are not going to learn ENC.

Professor Gonzalez is not your usual professor, he focused a lot on mental health and being aware of how you feel which is great especially since collage can be so overwhelming as a freshman. There was no exam for his class but we would read a lot and get in groups and discuss the personal stuff we would write.

Gonzalez is the best Professor from the English department. If you are in the Honors College take his class if honors, if you do a regular class being an honors student he will do a contract with you with easy assignments. Interesting talkings and projects. Easiest english class.

Professor Gonzalez is an amazing professor, but he does have a few cons. Although his class is easy, you get lots of busy work. Lots of essays, and lots of participation. He's all about wellness, so prepare to meditate and talk about your emotions and feelings and even trauma you have an endured. Plus side is there is no midterm or final! 8/10!

Be ready to write. Professor Gonzalez is a patient person and his lessons are quiet and relaxing, but he pretends a lot from his students. I will definitely take his class again.

Professor Gonzales is very funny and makes the lectures very interesting. I never expected an English class to be so dynamic and to have such a good environment between my classmates and professor. There is an incredible amount of homework but if you manage your time properly (one activity per day) you will do great.

His class is very different from most English classes and he is very focused on mental health and well-being. That being said, be prepared to have multiple writing assignments and readings for homework. However, you don't have to worry about your grade in this class, if you do your work it's impossible to fail. I would definitely recommend.

Amazing teacher, not a normal english professor. Brings a new modern approach to the class that made it enjoyable to participate. Highly encourage participation because he will help you if he sees you trying. Assignments can be difficult but he gives great feedback. Don't not choose another english teacher. Attendance is graded but not by much.
