I don't know how this professor is in traditional classes but he is HORRIBLE in teaching online courses. He is terrible at answering emails or phone calls. Syllabus stated grading on online discussions, quizzes, and tests. only had 3 online discussions, no quizzes, and got ungraded very unfairly!

I am sure the Professor is better in a real class, but the online class has been horrible. I felt he was unclear about how the online class is supposed to work, and when I have tried to get clarification I get none. Don't recommend the online class AT ALL....I will retake the class another semester.

Online version is not the best format to take, somewhat unorganized...I got the wrong grade posted & have tried to contact him over and over again, still unresolved! Other than that not difficult, but you must atleast skim the books before the online quizzes because of the time constraint.

He Lost My Midterm TWO TIMES.. .he will make you look stupid when you answer questions. You're Alwayz Wrong & He's Always Right. Class was boring.

By far the worst professor on campus. Class is super easy though, all quizzez and tests based on book. I would take him for easy grade, but worst teaching everrr. He doesnt care about no student and is ignorant to questions.

This professor did not teach me ANYTHING that was on either the mid-term, or the final. The grading criteria for his essays are ridiculous and with fail you because of missing page numbers. He goes off topic a lot, and is not helpful at all. IS NOT UP TO DATE WITH TECHNOLOGY so don't expect e-mails to be read. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROF. EVER.

He takes role each lecture, and all he does the entire class is talk. This way of teaching was very hard to keep up hearing someone talk the whole lecture with no interactions of the students and engagement, or power-points. He is very outspoken about people saying they are Mexican, if they were not born in Mexico.

BEWARE!! Of the class and the professor. He is rude, arrogant, talks down to students, and is not clear of his expectations for writing assignments, then will yell at the whole class about how they write. DON'T take this class if you don't need to. The course information would have been useful and interesting if it wasn't taught by him.

Terrible professor. His lectures do not reflect on the mid term and final. They are both written tests, expects great detail despite only having an hour or so to write. Mostly everyone in the class got 55 or 65 on the midterm. Has no filter, ignorant, very rude. If I ever see this man outside of class, he can catch hands. No hesitation.

DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASSES TAUGHT BY CARLOS PEREZ! Unprofessional. Doesn't respond to student Emails. I had to have the DEAN of social science get in contact with him for me. Wanted to fail me for being absent for a few weeks due to my broken foot even though I did all assignments and turned them in on time. No powerpoint. Only boring lectures

His lectures are boring and talks too much throughout the whole class. He is rude when a person participates and gives his own opinion. There is a midterm(take home essay) and a final(take home essay). Tough grader on the papers. There is never homework for this class.

He's rude. He thinks he's better than you. Don't take him. He'll make you feel stupid. Don't waste your time.

Terrible professor. No powerpoints. Long, boring lectures. He's always late to class, takes 15 mins to set up his computer, but attendance is mandatory. So basically you sit there for 20 mins doing nothing. Take-home essay-style midterm. Few random assignments. Complete waste of my time taking this class.

Although this was my first semester here at Fresno, I know a bad teacher when I see one. This was a tough class! He showed up late everyday. Seemed to be angry about 98% of the time. Took about almost a month to actually start class. He is a very tough grader and does not respond to emails. Only took his class because I registered late. Stay away!!

He is vary unorganized. He lost two of my papers so I went into the final with out knowing my grade. His class is bases on all papers. He is tough, lectures are him just talking so if you are not very good and staying focused and writing good detailed notes you will struggle. This is by far the worst professor Ive had. Im a junior.

I rue the day I took his class but I'm glad I passed. He never answers his emails and is rude. For a three unit class its pretty hard and reading heavy.

Glad I passed the class, but it wasn't easy. Dr. Perez should not be teaching as a profession. He is a disrespectful and condescending man. If you have questions get ready to be humiliated in front of the class. You will use the books and he will grade you harshly. You will dread every single day of his class. DO NOT TAKE!!!!

This was the rudest professor I have ever had. If you ask a question, expect a smart remark back. Grade is based on 3 essays so be sure to read the material. Tough grader. I think I learned more by reading the text book than from his lectures. If you read the books and meet his requirements on the essays, you'll pass.

AVOID THIS CLASS. He doesnt have power points, he just talks off the top of his head and jumps into so many other stories and you dont know when to start or stop taking notes. He just made us feel less because we dont travel everywhere like he does. Im glad we switched online because I dreaded going to his class and hearing him talk.

To put it simple, he does not care wether you pass or fail his class. In his own words, Im just here to do my work and I do not care whether you like the way I teach or not. Timed quizzes on canvas only have less than a min to be answered, which isnt even enough time to read questions. He makes himself not responsible for any errors he makes.

This was a face to face class before this Covid19. What happened with him after this was that he just gave us a lot of things to read and videos to watch. Then take 3 quizzes and a midterm and final. This was it but it was very hard to do all this on our own, I basically taught myself. I would not recommend him for an online class.

Don take this class with Perez. Just posted youtube videos and Wikipedia articles to us and give us a test at the end of the week. Had a question and emailed him and all he did was just resent the message he posted on canvas. Doesn't care about the students. I would give a 0 if I could avoid this class

I took the class during Covid. He assigned maybe 5 things during the semester including all the tests. The amount of effort he put into the class was minimal. The modules were random youtube videos and writing assignments were incredibly vague. The bottom line the prof didn't really teach the class and I mostly taught myself. Avoid if possible.

Never take this professor please !! He does not care about his students the first week of instructions he didnt post anything and he literally emailed us saying stop emailing with questions like ummm you literally haven posted or said anything and class already started ! I took him for online and honestly worst decision ever I learned nothing !

I DO NOT RECOMMEND. To begin with, he does not have a lesson plan nor does he have a proper syllabus, no due dates or explanations of class. He would lecture with note cards that are older than my parents. Does not answer emails, and is not clear on his expectations. Does not give assignments - exams/essay make up your whole grade- TOUGH GRADER

If you can avoid it, do not take him. The professor provides feedback, sure, but it is not constructive. Just because someone has the highest degree(s) and is a master at their material does not mean they are suitable to teach, as in this case. The plus, there are more professors that excel at teaching than professors that dont.

I do not recommend this Professor. Seriously find someone else, anyone but this one. You will be better off with anybody else I promise. Aweful, aweful,aweful!

This is the worst class I have ever taken. I would rather get hit by a bus than take this class. He just uploads random YouTube videos that aren't his. I would just take this class with a different professor. Please take this advice seriously, you will not suffer. This class is like torture... worst class ever. Someone fire this man.

DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! Just uploads links and youtube videos. I thought I was learning in his class was going to be fun but it ended up being a burden. He was not specific as far as what to study for. So much information to take in. No extra credit opportunities. I worked hard on all my papers and he still did not grade me well.

Absolutely worst teacher ever. He doesnt even deserve the title of professor so im going to call him teacher. He does not care about you at all. His means for his essays are always 40%. I would rather eat rocks than take this class again. Im reporting him to the department of social sciences. Theres no way he can still be a professor.

Students are only graded for about 3 assignments (all essays worth 200 points). There are 2 exams, the final being worth 500 points which is ridiculous considering that theres only 50 questions. He grades really harsh and doesnt seem to care about his students. His way of teaching consists of uploading tons of links to YouTube videos. AVOID!!

Do not take this professor. No matter how good of a student you are or how well you write, you will more than likely not get a good grade in his class. Only C I ever got in college was in his class. He is rude in his lectures and during office hours.

Do not take this class! Look for another one. The material is interesting. The tests are difficult. He is a very harsh grader on assignments and gives you rude and not helpful responses as to why you did bad on something that is so simple. Way too many videos and lectures every MWF of the week it is ridiculous. I regret taking this class.

This was simply one of the worse classes I have ever taken. Throughout the semester there were few assignments but that meant that he would grade the assignments very harsh. He gave us basically all the assignments that were going to count towards our final grade just two weeks before the semester was over which is insane. He was also very rude.

I do not recommend taking this class with this professor. Only grades on about 5-6 assignments, 2 of which are writing papers and he is a tough grader. All he did throughout the whole semester was send out a bunch of emails and youtube videos as part of our lecture. You will need to read a book to do in order to do one of the writing assignments.

Please DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Professor Perez made the course so unnecessarily difficult. The assignments were convoluted and the lectures were so long. A lot of the time they didn't even help with the tests he gave. Definitely avoid at all costs.

Don't take this class! It is a very hard class to pass. He is attendance heavy. He gives ALL his assignments towards the end of the semester. You can't even go to the restroom without him calling you out. He marks you absent if you are a minute late to class. His assignments have no clear instructions.

The scope of the class was supposed to take place from 1910-present, but we started in the 1400's and did not touch on 1910 until the middle of November. All of the assignments were given in the last 6 weeks. There were 4 papers, 3 quizzes and 1 final. He is a stringent grader. He is also arrogant and unapproachable. Completely unprofessional.Avoid

Mex-US history from 1910 to present, but the first two months the professor gave background information that we already either knew from previous classes or was ultimately unimportant to the class. Every assignment (8) was pushed into the final two weeks of the semester, which doesn't sound bad, but he does an abysmal job at grading.

No homework is given, your grade consists of like 5-6 quizzes, midterm, book report, and final. You have to take the best notes you can, and good luck with his messy handwriting. I asked for help one time and he was extremely rude about it, so I stopped reaching out for help and passed his class by a miracle. Do not recommend whatsoever.

To call this guy a tough grader is an understatement. He's very close minded and egotistic in his grading. Any criticism or deviation from the way he wants you to think and you're looking at an F on your essay.

This is the worst professor I've ever had, and I'm saying this as a self-professed teacher's pet who generally does well in academic settings. He didn't teach what the course was advertised as, horrible assignment descriptions, gave all assignments for the semester in last 2 weeks of instruction, and very rude/difficult communication DO NOT TAKE!!

He was very rude from the beginning, yelled at some girl because she didn't hear her name be called. Heavily criticizes you and the class if you get his answer wrong. Very discouraging to want to learn. VERY UNORGANIZED notes, you find yourself going back and forth on dates.

I am not going to lie I gave this guy the benefit of the doubt but it was all wrong. He is extremely lecture heavy, attendance is pretty much mandatory to pass the class being the grade on attendance and missing lectures wasn't helpful. He is extremely rude, he yells and makes students feel less if they do not know the answer to a question.

If I'm being completely honest, I took this professors class on the first day of the fall 2024 semester and dropped his class IMMEDIATELY the next day… simply based off his first impression, I came to see how he belittles students for not knowing answers to questions and yells quite loudly at students as well. He has a terrible superiority complex.

If you are debating on taking this professor I absolutely would not. His course work was not completely difficult but he was rude and would belittle every single one of his students no matter what chance he got. He was incredibly stuck up. He would criticize students for not being well traveled and expected students to already know everything.

I would not recommend this class at all. The notes were very unorganized and his attitude is very harsh. He criticized students every chance he got. Compared to other comments it seems he hasn't really changed since. He grades very poorly and it's hard to communicate with him. There were times where is attitude made me feel uncomfortable.

I was the only white guy in that class. if we didn't know the answer to a question he would ask how we graduated high school and what are they even teaching us?

His lectures are SO BAD. The only way I passed was because the quizzes and test were online. He is so loud and harsh! I never once felt comfortable but if you're okay with it twice a week it's whatever.
