Professor Perlaza, or Mayo as he calls himself, is a motivational and caring professor. The work itself is clear and easy to complete as long as you follow instructions. Mayo was quick to answer all emails and is always willing to understand and support his students. I recommend you take Mayo's courses as he is one of the best professors ever!

He's awesome. Cares that you also have an outside life. He takes the course seriously, as he should. Will give you a chance for "extra credit". His videos makes you understand he practice what he preaches when it comes to the course and taking his own advice for not being nervous.

I was so nervous about an online speech class. Professor Perlaza is super cool and extremely understanding. Had technical issues and he helped me find a way around them. Can take the midterm and final 3 times in case you don't receive the grade of your choice. TAKE HIM. You'd be foolish not to.

One of my best online professors yet! Professor Mayo is an amazing person who cares about his students, how they are doing, and that they understand the course work. He wasn't a professor that just gave you a syllabus and let you go. He checked in weekly and even shared to us who he is. I thought this was unique and amazing for an online class.

Mayo (what he goes by) was fantastic. He was helpful and motivational, and really encouraged a healthy class room. He is a very easy grader, but be ready to record yourself for speeches if you take this course online. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! I would 100% take it again or recomend him to a friend.

Professor Mayo is a rare gem and I would take another class with him in a heartbeat. I felt the online setting limited his ability to interact with us on a live, personal level, but he prepared video content specifically for our class that deeply inspired me! An in-seat course with him would be a dream. COM101 wasnt easy, but it was worth it.

Carlos gives great feedback on all of your assignments, and interacts with the class during discussion post. Mayo helped ease any fears I had about public speaking and was incredibly helpful whenever I had to ask him questions.

He is a truly gem. If you are nervous about speaking in public, but of course you have to past the Gordon rule, take profesor Mayo. You soon find out that speak in public is not that bad.

Where do I start? Mayo is a fantastic professor, so much so that this is the first time I've ever left a review on here. Speech is a stressful class for so many, but he truly puts your mind at ease and gives you the encouragement, confidence, and supportive feedback you need to succeed in his class. Wish there were more professors like him.

I dreaded taking a public speaking class but I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of growth I made in my public speaking skills due to this course. I'm not so nervous to speak in public and I will use the skills I learned in all aspects of my life.

Mayo was patient and down to earth. His goal was to see us succeed. He did this by making us feel comfortable and welcome in the class. All teachers should have his demeanor. One of my favorite teachers at EGCC!!!

The professor just gives too much work that is due in a limited time, and the amount of work required for just 20 points is a bit much. For example, 500 words for just 20 points to close out the class, is a lot.

Prof. Perlaza is uniquely approachable and available. Online schooling is difficult enough because of the lack of physical interaction. Prof. Perlaza made the experience feel like you had instant access to him and your classmates. He also showed us that he could relate to us individually and on a group level, the online experience less painful.

Although I do not see myself as a public speaker in the future, Professor Perlaza went above and beyond to make his students comfortable in completing the assignments that are mandated by the school.
