Professor Perlaza, or Mayo as he prefers to be called, is a very helpful and understanding teacher. You will have to preform speeches in front of the class. However, Mayo helps to reduce the anxiety by making the class get to know each through group projects. He's a reasonable teacher and I enjoyed this class a lot.

Professor did an excellent job in presenting the material in a fun and educational manner while covering the important aspects of speech making. He encouraged group activities which allowed the students to interact with each other making it easier when presenting our speeches in front of the class. I highly recommend "Mayo" (his preferred name.

"Mayo" is an AWESOME professor and his main interest is to help you succeed. He incorporates a good balance of using the text book and other media, such as videos and classroom exercises. He gives excellent feedback on speeches and recommendations for improvement! Overall great person!!

Carlos Perlaza aka "MAYO" as in ketchup and mustard, is the best!!! No other professor is compared to him. He will make you feel welcome and part of a family in this class. It's like going to an AA meeting. Trust me when I say this, I took the course Fridays at 6:00 pm after a long day of work and this class always made me feel happy.

Class was really easy! You are going to need this course no matter what and doing your speeches in front of 3 friends is easier than doing it in front of a class full of people you don't know. Teacher is great about explaining assignments properly the first time so I didn't really need to contact him for anything!

Let me tell you something, I hate speech but this class was one of my easiest ones. It sounds scary to think of recording yourself but majority of the recordings are you by yourself and only two bigger assignments with only an audience of 3 needed. These aren't until the end which makes it even better. I'm glad he was my professor, I recommend!!!!

Considering that speech class is REQUIRED as a base class... it's not exactly fun. This Professor, known as Mayo (My-o), makes it all so much easier. Took the online class and professor Mayo is awesome. He motivates you to improve yourself. He follows the syllabus which is good because you can read the required material before the deadline. There are 2 non-audience videos, 1 test video plus 2 audience-required videos. Besides that, you must post in the required discussions, which are fun.

I took the online class and it was relatively easy. Just do your work. There are 4 speeches total two requiring and audience. Easy discussion forums. Outline and self evaluation for each speech and thats basically the class. He requires you to get the text book but I only opened it a handful of times. Offers EC I passed with over a 100%

Professor Perlaza is the best teacher Ive ever took so far. Hes such a great teacher and person as well. He loves encouraging his students to improve everyday. If youre looking for a speech professor, professor Carlos is the one.

Great teacher, easy A! you just NEED to step out of your comfort zone and make videos for this class with an audience, which is MANDATORY. I thought about dropping this class because of my fear of audience but it was a piece of cake, glad I didnt!

This was the best class I have ever taken! The professor was extremely understanding and very inspirational. Each week he posted telling us what was due each week. He would even share videos and give us great feedback. He also gives lots of opportunities for extra credit so your grade should never slip below an "A". BEST TEACHER EVER, EASY A !

I took Professor Mayo over the summer for Fundamentals of Speech and he was honestly one of the best online professors I had. He sends weekly announcements (due dates, assignments and always he has something motivational attached to it.), gives actual feedback that helps, and you know what to expect the moment you read the syllabus and his bio. 5/5

I took his class over the summer online. He is a professor that is truly going to make you dive deep into who you are as a person, what your strengths/weaknesses are, and then mold those into being a better speech giver. The course online does have speeches that need to be recorded, a few with an audience of 5 for full credit, but I highly suggest.

Nicest prof ever. I never write reviews, but I had to for this prof!!! He is always motivating his students and gives the best feedback. I thought taking speech online would be hard, but he makes it so easy!!! His assignments are easy, and he IS SO NICE. 10/10 TAKE HIM!!!!!

This class is set up in the perfect way. First, he gets you to learn about yourself & your learning style. This causes you to gain confidence & a sense of who you are. Speeches are very easy & relatable. Last two infront of 5 ppl audience. Grades easy. Many extra credit points. I gained confidence when I speak. Take the class. Youll pass & learn.

I dreaded taking this class. I dropped this class twice with other teachers. professor Carlos Perlaza was AMAZING! Speeches were basically graded by us and only a few discussions. EASY class but you really learn a lot and are able to open and feel comfortable to post speeches and become a great public speaker. TRUST ME TAKE HIM YOU WONT REGRET IT!

Literally the best professor I've ever had! He's super nice & very inspirational. The class is an easy A. There's a few discussions, about 5 spaced out speeches (only need an audience of 5 people for the last two), the topics are very easy & he really wants everyone to succeed. He's very understanding & you wont regret picking him as your prof!

He was amazing!! The only thing that stressed me out was actually performing the speeches (which was all my anxiety) I emailed him a question and with in hours I he had wrote me back. He was very inspirational and super kind. I would definitely take him again if I had to. Take his class!! You will love him!

Excellent professor, I was very hesitant taking this class however I'm actually glad I did . He knows how to make you tap into yourself in order to give the very best speech possible. Grading is very clear and great feedback ,you can really tell that he enjoy teaching this class. Easy A if you put int the work!

Prof Mayo made this course such an enjoyable non intimidating experience. I was so nervous at 1st. I was awkward & didnt know how to record & speak into the camera. Hes extremely considerate of inconveniences & misunderstandings. Very nice and positive man!! Hell make accommodations & offers a good amount of extra credit. Take him wont regret!

Mayo is an AMAZING teacher. Extra credit opportunities, not many assignments but plenty of time to complete all speeches. Super easy class and a really cool and caring teacher.

Professor Mayo is a kind and inspirational. He always had wise words for the group and was encouraging. There is extra credit opportunities with every discussion. As long as you follow the speech requirements you will do well as he is a fair grader. I had a lot of anxiety going into this speech class and did well. I highly recommend him!!

Definitely participate in discussions and make sure you do all of your speeches and self evaluations. If you need to turn in something late make sure you reach out to him. He will give you a break just turn in your work when you say you will! Gives great feedback! Definitely one of the best teachers I have had! I would definitely take him again!!

TAKE HIS CLASS! For real, I love RMP and I use it all the time but sometimes I feel people can give false information. But I am not kidding when I say Perlaza IS AN AMAZING PROF for speech. Super open armed, gives extra credit, if you need help he will help you. Just do all the assignments, follow instructions, try your best and you will pass.

Completing your speeches is the biggest part in passing this course. He provides opportunity to earn extra credit throughout the course. He is very down to earth and very responsive. One of the best professors I have had!

Professor Perlaza provided an extremely accommodating environment as an online course during this pandemic, it did not hurt that he was very clear in what he wanted and expected of us as students. That is not to say his class was a tough one either, I would recommenced anyone looking for a good online speech class experience take Professor Perlaza.

TAKE HIS CLASSSSS!!! Professor Perlaza is by far one of the best professors i ever took. Even though it was a online class he is so humble and down to earth. He understands life happens and you will have his 100% support. Before taking his class i hated speech but he made it so welcoming. I would recommen everyone to take him. He is truly the best.

amazing professor! i thought taking a speech class online would be hard but he was very flexible. only four speeches: persuasive, informative, demonstrative, and midterm. final is a mc test but you don't need text, you can refer to powerpoints. audience required for two speeches, but he negotiates! just need three people in speeches. take him!

Mayo is very down-to-earth! He's very encouraging when it comes to public speaking. It's easy to get stressed about it, but for every speech, he reminds his students to just have fun with it and relax. It's something small and simple, but very helpful when it comes from the person giving the grade!

A total of about 4 speeches the whole semester! Very easy to do and all you need to turn in is the video and an outline. There is also discussion post but they are very simple. He was very kind and funny. He always left amazing feedback!

Professor Perlaza is very laid back and chill!! I took his class online and it was very interesting. There was 4 speeches, one midterm and one final. Speeches are graded lightly and he gives a lot of great feedback. Final was only 8 multiple choice questions but midterm was open ended. If you get a chance take this professor!! He's very caring.

Professor Mayo is a real gem. I had major surgery in the middle of the semester and he was very understanding. He encourages us to not only be better at public speaking but at communicating in general. He shows he cares and is very accessible and approachable. I would highly recommend him for speech. You will get a good grade if you try.

Professor Perlaza has made this semester so much better! If you are reading this I strongly recommend taking him. He is the best professor Ive had hands down. I believe there was 4 speeches which only 2 of them required an audience of 3 people and roughly 5 minutes long each. Other than speeches, you shouldnt struggle at all. TAKE HIM!

Choose Professor Mayo for your speech class! Hands down a great class and professor. My class was online and he has made this semester fun, interesting and most definitely educational. It's not difficult you just have to do your assignments (speeches) and discussions. Be proactive and participate as he does like class participation!!!

He's a good professor, class was online and all the work was pretty easy, I just personally had a hard time recording my speeches because I forget what I'm talking about as soon as I press record, he is an easy grader. Theres only 4 speeches with their outlines and reviews, 5 discussions and a final that was 8 questions long. I never used the book.

Great Professor! You can tell he really cares and wants his students to succeed. His assignments were easy although the speeches were tedious there were only 4. Not a super tough grader, he does take points off if you don't participate 3 days of the week. Easy A if you do all your work strongly recommend to take his class.

Professor Mayo is AMAZING and he cares very much about his students. He is not a difficult grader and is very understanding towards his students. There is quite a bit of reading, but it isn't super overwhelming.

Professor Mayo (his preferred name) is kind and wants students to learn. He's a bit nitpicky about discussions or speeches, but only to a reasonable degree, and he explains his criteria VERY clearly, which I love. He gives great feedback. Submit assignments a bit earlier, as he doesn't prefer assignments submitted on the same day. Great class.

Professor MAYO is a great professor. He cares about seeing you improve in your speech skills, but has the leniency to allow for leeway as you learn. Reading materials are useful, and the three speeches you are required to give in the course involve engaging subject material. His course can help you a lot if you make the most of each assignment!
