Carlton is a great prof. that cares about his students. There is NO way you can fail his class if you give a little bit of an effort. The guy gave me an A with the least of my efforts. I highly recommend him for anyone who hates or sucks at writing. He will make you a better writer without you even knowing what hit you.

I took this class online, his lecture, chapter, and other handouts were helpful. The course was self explanatory for the most part. He did not get back to students with grades or feedback, so if you're a poor writer take it in person. Easy class though besides the no feedback, but I was a good writer before I took it.

Work semi-easy. No communication or feedback. Grades are not returned promptly. ex.the semester is coming to an end, I have completed 4 out of 6 assignments, only 2 grades.

Mr. Carlton is the bomb. I took him for the summer (10 wks) and I made an A. We had 6 essays to write but they were very simple essays. Midterm and Final is essays. You have to take this man. This is the easiest A you can get if you do the work.

He is a great teacher-online class Comp II. Just have his tutors look over paper for help. He will respond to emails if you have questions on papers. Great teacher!! He wants students to succeed.

Prof. Downey is slow in response to emails. But this was an easy class-3 assignments and 1 final. If you read the essays you will get a good grad.

Great teacher. Very helpful. The assaignments were easy. You had to write four memos, instructions, and a resume. Easy A. However, I should have taken the class in person because you don't get your papers back with corrections or comments.

Took online, he teaches A LOT of classes so his comm is off but dont worry he grades fare. Think I will get an A. so far I have received an 90, 94, 90, 93...

The deal is 5 or 4 assignments he take too long to grade, but dont worry about it, when he does you will be happy, a very fair grader Pro I ever had. Take his class if you want to watch ball on the weekend!!!!!11

i took the online course it is really easy,no books needed, our grade comes from only 4 essays and that is it.but, he does take a while to give you your grade..it is kinda hard to get in touch with him so try to get along with the people in your class they come out to be great help. i do recommend him

Come on! I took him for the mini session. This was the LEAST stressful class I have ever had in my LIFE! YES, IT WAS EASY! If you are in college you should be able to pull off a 5 paragraph essay. Write your 5 paragraphs, review it, submit it! BAM A! I took it online done within 3 weeks. I didn't have time to sit in an English class. Chile please.

Best teacher I've EVER had. Incredibly funny, tells great stories, knows how to make the material incredibly understandable by using real life examples, and he's super easy to talk to! Professor Downey is the best! He states in the syllabus that he does not accept late work, but if you communicate with him, he'd make an exception. He doesn't require the textbook because he will give you the readings. He's an easy grader, because I'm more than certain I should've gotten a C in his class! I ended up with a 98! Take him!!

First off, he is hilarious! I had him as a hybrid class so I didn't get to see him often but I wish I could because he always made me laugh. This was an easy A kind of class. He doesn't bury you with homework and assignments which actually saved me because other classes did. I wish I could take him next semester but I think he is leaving southeast.

Wonderful professor. Not wait your time. He like to give homework online. 4 essays and 1 final essays. He doesn't request his students write excellently, but he wants us to know how write a full college essay. Easy get A.

Professor Downey is a blessing. Initially, I became skeptical upon how the online class was going to work. And through Spring 2018, I managed to come out with a 95. Only minor issue is that he will never reply back to your messages. In addition, he does grade assignments at the last minute. Take note of that. Regardless, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR ALL.

He was a recommendation which I don't regret taking it. I took him online, first class online and he was very easy. He's a quiet person, doesn't grade the essays right away and no feedback either. If you take him online, there's 2 discussions, and 4 essays. Not very hard to be honest. If you're looking for a challenging professor, this is not it.

i took the online class, he understands people have lives outside of school . im a full time firefighter with a 2nd job and father of a young child returning to school in my 30s and was easily able to take his engl 1301. thanks for helping me achieve my goals! i hope to take more of his classes soon

This was an easy A. The only thing that bothered me with this class was that his Turnitin never worked and we had to constantly message him about it. I turned in an assignment a day late bc Turnitin was down and got points deducted. 4 essays all very easy to do. My advice would be: if Turnitin is down email him on canvas and his HCC email. CYA

He is the easiest class ever for English. He is very funny and lets you write on any topic depending on what it is and there is no pages minimum, as long as it's an intro, three body paragraph, and a conclusion you should be fine.

I took his online English class for the summer and never felt so relaxed. His instructions are clear and to the point. This class included a few discussions and about 4 essays, one due each week. He also provides videos and power points to help you throughout the process. Very understanding, I missed a deadline and he still took my essay in.

Im so happy I took this professor! Take him if you can! His work isnt hard, hes lenient with his students, and hes hilarious! He makes what he wants in an essay very clear, is very understanding of his students, and isnt a tough grader. Would definitely recommend! This class is an easy A if you try!

Took him for spring 2020. Tells interesting stories about his life, gives you amazing feedback when grading papers.

Clear instructions and Powerpoint. The assignments and papers are not too difficult. The only problem is that you won't see your grade and feedback until the last day of instruction! However, he's an easy grader so just put some efforts into your works and you'll be fine. Take this class if you want an easy A.

I did not have much interaction with this professor. However, I would definitely take him again. This class was an easy A. Just write your papers and turn them in on time. There were 4 papers and a "lights, camera, action" introduction project that took me like 20 minutes to do. TAKE HIM!

Dr. Downey is definitely a professor I'd recommend if you're looking for a less stressful course. There is a few writing assignments, and I took him for an online course over the summer, but he is very generous when grading his essays. His prompts are not very difficult either. 100% planning on taking him for 1302.

Everything was easy to follow and do. Yes it's true that you won't see your grades until the end of the semester. So, do yourself a favor and enroll to his class, free stress, and just turn your assignments on time. In fact, you'll get plenty time to complete them, he's an excellent grader, just be patient and hang in there. You won't regret it.

This man was the holy grail of my first semester. Easy 100 class. He gives broad essays you can write anything about. The assignmets leading up to the essays are templates and outlines to help you write the essay. I love this man, helped my GPA so much. Didn't even give us a final.

Professor Downey was without a doubt the best professor I had during my time at HCC. He seems to love his subject and the lectures are interesting and engaging. Many students stopped attending class in person after a few weeks, but I truly got so much out of going to class and engaging. Lots of essays but not challenging, just don't procrastinate!

Professor Downey is super lenient and makes ENG1301 a breeze. Just stay on top of the writing assignments and you'll likely get an easy A. I found Unstuck ai really helpful for prepping for his essay prompts - definitely check it out!

He doesn't really communicate unless spoken to, but his assignments are easy, you just have to read instructions well. His class overall is a get in get out scenario.

Great professor, his feedback was really helpful in improving writing quality. I do wish he would be more accessible via canvas messages when I had any inquiries. Grades consist of discussion posts, assignments, and three major papers.

THE EASIEST A! Took his class as an online anytime had to write 4 major essays, topics were super easy, and we only had a few minor assignments and discussions, easy as well. Very lenient and understanding. He grades assignments really late though and sometimes you won't know your grade till the end of the course. Takes forever to respond as well.

He's a really good professor. Gives you plenty of time to complete his assignments, which are all really easy and don't take too long. Assignments often lead up to the major papers (like write a thesis), there are four worth 65% Can sometimes take some time to grade assignments, but grades extremely fair. Sign up for this guy's class.

He is such a fun Professor, he does talk A LOT about his private life but that makes him more like able. It is easy to improve your grades, he gives tons and good feedback, but he does take his time to grade it though. Would definitely take his classes again.

Prof Carlton takes time to grade and when he grade he does it excellently I definitely recommend him for an easy A

This guy is simply amazing. This class is literally an easy A if you just do your work. He gives you plenty of time for the term papers and few discussions, which he grades very chill. It takes a while for him to grade the assignments, but he gives you free 100s anyway. Take him without even hesitating.

Prof. Downey's class was very enjoyable. He's very charismatic, which makes it easy to be engaged during class. There are 3 papers, which are all easy as long as you listen to the instructions. There was no final, as the 3rd paper took its place.

Online(no lecture). 3 papers in total. 3 discussions at first then he added 4 more. all discussions are easy and done in less than half an hour. Bad responder to emails because he works part-time at HCC. Make sure you send emails to the full-time uni email he works at. Easy grader. Short course. Great Feedbacks. Professor Downey is an excellent professor. I took his class online and everything was okay. He is a very respected and caring person. However, one thing about him is that he waits and gives the grades at the end of the semester. Additionally, it would be beneficial if the assignment instructions were clearer, but you can still manage it.

For an english class, this is the bare minimum amount of work you'd have. 3 straight-forward, chat-able essays, and easy assignments in between those. Takes a while to grade but just slaps 100s on each assignment if u j follow the simple instructions. Also turned in some late work twice (45 mins behind), and he didn't bat an eye. if u need it, TAKE

Definitely recommend. Very easy grader, doesn't bat an eye to late assignments. No final. You won't hear from him the entire semester and he does take some time to grade, but if you do the assignments there's no way for you to fail.

I definitely recommend taking him, he is phenomenal! I am actually lost for words by how good he is.
