Dr. Gordon is very nice and really cares about her students. She is good at responding to emails. She is almost too patient during class and will answer LOTS of questions that don't pertain to the lecture, but that is really the only relatively negative thing I have to say. She explains concepts pretty well. I would recommend her!
Dr. Gordon is great. The class by nature is hard, but she explains concepts really well and I like the structure of her lectures. Grades are test heavy and theyre not easy, but it's doable if you pay attention in class and do the practice she gives you. She's clear about expectations and wants to help you do well and fully understand ochem.
Dr. Gordon is very nice and approachable. Sometimes certain topics I did not feel were properly covered in class based of what we were then expected to know. Her tests were fair and not overly hard. Organic Chemistry is hard but she really cares about her students. Her knowledge checks were a little annoying.
Absolutely wonderful! Highly recommend for CHEM2070 - there are no surprises on the exams. She will prepare you accordingly, but you do need to study to do well in the class. Use the textbook or go to office hours if you are confused on anything. Exams are a mix of multiple choice and open response. She is awesome!
A great professor! She's really clear on what she expects on exams and gives great feedback if you have questions. Knowledge check questions are EXACTLY like exam questions. Ochem is hard but she really wants to help you succeed. Go to the SI sessions!! She also answers emails fast.
Really nice person who is sweet and funny during lectures but she paced the class very poorly and speeds through content without explaining and expects you to know it. Some things she teaches contradicts the textbook/ other teachers. Expect to relearn the material yourself outside of class.
The tests are easier than the homework, but the homework is so much harder than anything you do in class it's not useful practice. Nice fill-in notes, but she doesn't post filled out notes so you have to go to class (not a bad thing just a thing to note). Had to relearn all the material by myself, but I think that is just the way of OCHEM.
She seems nice from what I can tell but I honestly don't care if she is nice or not. Her test are very different from her practice problems. On her practice problems some of the answers are just wrong or very confusing on how she got an answer…which doesn't really help when studying for a test.
I go to tutoring once a week and all of my friends in this class also go to tutoring once a week. We all have different tutors and every single one of them say her work is wrong or her answer is wrong. She goes against the rules of chemistry so it just is really confusing.
She says she doesn't agree with the book? Which is super confusing considering every organic chemistry teacher at auburn has used this book and are still using it. During class she speeds through the lectures and doesn't really explain the hard concepts. I think the way she planned her class out is not great.
ou should expect to learn EVERYTHING outside of class on your own. Which honestly is not okay considering how much people pay to go to college…a professor should be able to teach their class. Her questions are just incredibly hard compared to the book, the homework, other teachers practice problems, and other teachers previous test.
She does these things called knowledge checks. They are super confusing and will drop your grade so many points if you get an 8/10. If you get a 10/10 it does nothing to your grade. After she reopens them I try to go over it with my tutor to understand what I do wrong. Every single time there is at least one question that is not clear at all.
I don't know who is writing these other reviews but every single person I have talked to in the class has said how bad of a teacher she is. Organic chemistry is suppose to be hard but doable. My big problem is with how her test are and how she goes against the rules of chemistry. I would suggest taking another ochem teacher at auburn.
Dr. Gordon is the best choice for ochem by far. She has fill-in notes and all content for the tests are taken directly from them. She posts practice worksheets online (not for a grade) that are several pages long and are EXACTLY what will be on the test. She has quizzes that are semi hard, but take your time, work with friends and you will be fine.
She is a very nice person and during class answers any questions. But, her exams have been very difficult compared to questions given as practice. She spends a lot of time answering questions and following classes have been sped up to a slideshow a class. Something she goes over for a minute, expect to know perfectly on exam. Many trick q's also.
This professor is terrible at teaching. She speeds through material, ignores student questions with “We don't have time,” and teaches concepts other professors and tutors say are incorrect. Her lack of clear explanations, refusal to slow down, and failure to offer bonus opportunities leave students confused, unsupported, and set up for failure.
A lot of the hate Dr. Gordon gets for her teaching is due to the tough material of OChem. This class is definitely hard, but doable if you study. While there are some things she could improve, she provides guided notes and many practice problems. If you put in the work you can definitely make the grade you want.
This professor is extremely difficult with majority of her practice problems and power points being completely wrong and have opposite answers. If you take the Monday, Wednesday, Friday class it might be easier since will have more time for professor to explain information otherwise class is basically impossible. Do not recommend her whatsoever.
This professor is terrible. She skips over student questions and says we don't have time to go over them. She continues to lecture on new material that won't be on the test when we should be reviewing for the upcoming test. She is not a fair grader, gives a lot of trick questions, no bonus opportunities and she will not grade on a curve to help.
Carly was a great professor. all of the negative comments are probably from people who started studying two days before the exam. hard class but study a lot and you will do fine
Dr. Gordon is great. She's very young so she is definitely still learning, however she gave us lots of practice problems that were very helpful for her tests. I thought her tests were fair. OChem is just a hard class.
You will have to study a lot but her lectures are organized and she provides ample practice problems and homework that are similar to the test. Her lectures are very fast, but she is very approachable. Her exams are difficult, so you do need to know the material like the back of your hand.
The pace in the beginning was a little slow especially when we were reviewing material we already learned in general chemistry and now at the end of the year it feels like we are playing catch up. She is a great teacher I just wish we spent less time reviewing and more time learning the new material.
I personally enjoyed Gordon. She is new to teaching at Auburn so I think she should be given some grace because she's figuring it all out. Ochem is just hard in general, and you're going to have to put in the work to get the grade you want. She is very accessible, answers emails quickly, and is extremely helpful in office hours.
Dr. Gordon has done a great job in her first semester as a lecturer. She provides loads of practice problems that are very similar to test material. If you ask a question of send an email she is prompt and explains in detail. I believe she will only get better as she becomes more tenured. Work hard and you can succeed.
Please don't listen to these other reviews. The bad reviews are from people who think they can breeze through ochem just like they did in their freshman year pre-reqs. Gordon is super sweet and helpful. Very accessible outside of class even up to the night before the exam. She does go fast in lecture but review your notes and you'll be fine.
New professor. She is nice and wanting to help her student, just doesn't know the best way to yet. Notes are confusing if you don't go to class and write them from some else. Most test you can get lots of partial credit. Not many bonus opportunities. We were behind on content all semester
This is her first year teaching and it is very evident. Ochem is difficult but there are many ways where her inexperience did not help at all in terms of grades. We were behind all semester and she tried rushing through material but would forget some details to catch up and it felt rushed. Give her a few years and she will be amazing.l
Oh gosh, ochem is hard obviously but the exams in this class is ridiculous. Dr. Gordon is a good lecturer, great even, but be so frl why are the exams impossible. If you are deciding between her and matthews and you want a good grade take matthews. the exams Gordon gives are awful. if ur signed up to take her...Good luck. shes a cool person though
Dr. Gordon is incredibly kind and fun but this class has been my hardest class at auburn so far. I expected Ochem to be difficult and have to put in a lot of time but lectures are fast, notes are confusing, and some of her teaching in contradictory to textbooks, tutors, and online videos.
NGL I would not be able to pass O Chem if it wasn't her. Her lectures make the materials look easy, I just didn't study enough to get a better grade. It would've been good to have an A but hey, I passed O Chem and I'm happy with that.
Dr Gordon is new and still figuring things out, but shes overall not bad. The class is hard no matter what, and I think she did her best to make it easier. However theres no bonus opps. Barely any homework, optional attendance. She answers so many questions in class (almost too many). Very accessible office hours. Exams get progressively harder.
She seems like an awesome person, but she's a new teacher and hasn't figured out how to balance test difficulty. Her lectures only include basic examples. I could recite anything from the lecture materials and the practice problems she gave, but the tests involved complex problems she never mentioned.
She is a very nice lady but she made the final insanely difficult and taught us what was on it 4 days before our final exam. Exams were way harder than the practice worksheets she provided and little to no extra credit or ways to boost your grade.
I really enjoyed Dr. Gordon as a person. She is very friendly and funny. Her problem is that shes new and doesn't give her students clear direction. For example, on her final she said it was "sort of cumulative." When she could've just said there will be a small section on old material worth however many points and the rest will be new material.
She's great
Ochem is hard in nature, but this was also Dr. Gordon's first semester of teaching. I had to have a tutor I met with once a week for this class on top of SI sessions and LA hours. We started off very slow, then quickly sped up. Her practice problems were not similar AT ALL to the test. Test 3 and the final are the hardest, so study super hard!
This is an organic chemistry class, obviously you have to put in more effort than most to get a decent grade. This was Dr. Gordon's first semester and she did an excellent job for what she was given. Exams are the majority of your grade and you have actually to try very hard on the knowledge checks. Overall, I learned a lot and would take again.
Im not sure where these bad ratings are coming from because Dr. Gordon is an excellent teacher. Exam 3 was harder, but exams 1 and 2 are pretty straightforward and all content comes from the practice problems she posts online or the notes. there are questions on the exams that are literally review from gen chem. shes good, you've just got to study.
Dr. Gordon is sweet and caring but she needs to either go over better examples in class or make the exams easier. She teaches by posting slides and you take notes as she write along. Exam 3 was very difficult and the Final exam was very RUSHED since we were taught the material 4 days before. gave 5 bonus pts on final for a 97% eval. No Extra Credit
She gives very clear fill-in notes. She really cares about the success of the class. The last few chapters were rushed because we ran out of time. Her practice problems are the best way to study for the exam. The homework is for completion, the "Knowledge checks" are open note and open friend. BEWARE exam 3 and the final.
The bad reviews are definately from the pre-med crybabies who freaks out if they don't get an A. Her lectures are straight forward and easy to understand compared to other professors and also easy to reach out cause she replies to emails almost right away. Exams are quite tough though, really tough. Especially the 3rd one and the final.
Dr. Gordon is such a sweet person, however her lectures and organization leave something to be desired. This class is difficult, but there were many times that answers on the notes or the homework would be wrong and it lead to a lot of confusion. She takes the time to answer questions, but once the topics get hard prepare to teach yourself.
She is a nice person, but spends too much time answering stupid questions in class, but then can't answer a question for you in office hours. Answers on the homework tend to be wrong and she won't bother fixing them depending on when you bring it up to her. Get ready to watch YouTube videos to learn. Recommend watching Professor Iman or take Priya.
The class is hard, but do able. Dr. Gordons exams are a little harder than the other professor chem prof(Dr. Matthews), so if you can take her instead. if you get Dr. Gordon, you will be okay, I finished with a 88.9 which is technically an A, plus with a bunch of other extra credit. Exam 1-Easiest. Exam 2-Harder. Exam3-HARDEST(DONT CRAM), final(ok)
Thoroughly enjoyed taking Dr. Gordon's class. We need more professors like her in COSAM
She is sweet and gives good lectures with straightforward notes. But you're gonna have to put in alot of work cause tests are HARD (especially #3). Knowledge checks and practice problems are good for studying. Whiteboard method and repetition are good in later units. Kinda wish I'd taken Mathews but Gordon's not impossible, the tests are just HARD
She is a great teacher and her notes are very clear and helpful especially looking back. She is really kind and also great at responding to emails with good explanations. Her pacing and practice sheets definitely made learning harder but it was also her first semester, so I am sure that she has adjusted.
Hard class but extremely hard tests. Doesn't use a microphone so it makes it very hard to hear and pay attention depending on where you sit. Doing lots of practice problems is helpful. Nice teacher but definitely not the best.
Dr. Gordon is a great professor. I would definitely recommend taking her class. Organic chemistry is a hard class and you have to put in a lot of work outside of class, but it is doable. This class is very test heavy. She gives you fill in the blank notes to follow along with in class. She is very nice and responds to emails & questions very fast.
Going into this class, I really enjoyed chemistry. She destroyed any sense of joy that I felt while studying chemistry. I cannot stress enough that you will be teaching yourself ALL of the content. Her practice worksheets are not helpful, and her exams are way too difficult for the level that she teaches us.
Very nice lady but tests were weighted too much. Each test (4) was about 20% of your grade. The other things dont really move your grade so if you do bad on one youre screwed. A lot of self teachings shes not that straightforward. MUST get above an A on every exam if you want an A in the class.
Dr. Gordon is genuinely an amazing person. I had multiple person things that are not required excused absences with AU. She worked with me to reschedule exams and the final out of kindness. Her exams are worth a lot but i wouldn't say impossible. As long as you study hard and don't fall behind, you should be good.
She is very passionate about her subject. I love her as a person and as a teacher. She is very knowledgeable and knows what she is talking about. She doesn't just read off of slides. Chemistry was a challenging class, but I wouldn't want anyone else as a teacher.
Just be prepared for when the test comes, and the most obscure thing she mentioned one time that wasn't the focus of any of the material is the only thing she tests over. Also, she cares more about making sure you get through the lectures than about whether anyone in her class understands it. Office hours are useless; she just doesn't care.
One of the few professors at Auburn with a true *gift* for teaching. The material is difficult- its organic chemistry- but she is an absolutely phenomenal lecturer who simplifies it as much as possible. 10/10 human who truly cares about her students (even though she has hundreds at a time).
Dr. Carly is a great prof. Tough but she cares a lot about her students. She wants everyone to do well, but you have to earn the grades. She also has her challenges teaching such large lecture classes. I would take any class she teaches.
Dr Gordon was great she goes into detail on the topics and super helpful at office hours. She gives plenty of practice problems. However her exams are very hard
Dr. Gordon is a really nice professor and a nice person. She is very helpful in office hours and is more than willing to help. She provides study guides and practice questions galore. The tests are very heavily weighted and extremely difficult in my opinion, despite hours of studying and completing pages of practice.
Ochem is a naturally hard class, and I understand that she is new, but her lectures are fast! You can tell she cares about your understanding. She is very kind but sometimes her PowerPoints and stuff can be wrong, which is human, but it can just be very confusing for such a practice-dependent grade. My C was more on me than her though lol
We only have three grades for this class. Quizzes and homework are worth so little they dont affect your grade at all. Lectures were not helpful, so most of my learning outside of class. Dr. Gordon is helpful outside of class though and I regret not going to her office hours sooner. You can do well if you work hard. Would recommend diff teacher tho
Do not take her. Just don't. I lost years off my life. Chem is a difficult course no matter what, but I studied like a crazy person. I slept at the library more than my own apartment and still not a good outcome. Tests make no sense. Practice problems will not help you, nor the study guides. Run for your life.
Her study guides don't prepare you for the exams EVER. they are also 80% of your grade and she has little to no other work that can help you. She doesn't prepare for the ACS exam and didn't even mention the book at all so half my class didn't know what was on it. Do not take her.
if you miss a class, you're cooked. Dr. Gordon is a good professor, and is clear on what she expects of you. The tests and quizzes matter SO MUCH. Don't just do practice problems, understand them. The final was cumulative and well spread out, overall not bad. If you pay attention in class and study in a smart way this class should be a breeze.
She's a really nice person. You have to put in the work to get a good grade. If you show up to class, actually do the homework and all of her practice problems you will do fine. I didn't feel prepared for the ACS exam so just make sure to buy the book and make sure you understand how to do all of the practice problems
Attendance isn't mandatory but you need to go and actually pay attention and participate. If you do the practice problems and the homeworks, and you actually understand them then you will do fine on the tests. She is super nice and WANTS to answer your questions. Genuinely just go to class and pay attention. Find the online version of ACS for final
Exams are worth 80% of your grade (Extremely difficult), lectures aren't helpful. Unless you need the knowledge from this class (my degree doesn't) Take this class online. She doesn't prepare you for the ACS, so good luck. Avoid this teacher, she has well intentions but that's not enough. I now know I definitely don't want to be a chemist hahaha.
Dr. Gordon was a great teacher, she moves very quickly, but her lectures are still easy enough to follow! She gives you tons of practice problems and a study guide that covers everything that will be on the tests. I rarely had a question I hadn't seen multiple times before. She has a lot of mixed reviews, but for 1030 specifically, she was awesome!
Love Dr. Gordon. The class was test heavy, which is aggravating because I understood the content but I just don't do well on tests. She has organized lecture slides that are easy to follow. She is personable and easy to reach. I would 100% take her again.
Pros: very passionate abt the subject, is happy to explain things, and seems like a nice person. Cons: still a difficult subject for most people. There's a lot of complex content. HWs are easy, tests are HARD. She would not curve even when avg was below 60. Do lots of practice problems. Would not recommend unless you really want to cry.
Does not know how to teach. I understand she is new to teaching, but seriously, you will not learn a single thing from class. Everything I learned was through my tutor, SI, and teaching myself through YouTube videos. Also, incredibly harsh grader for no reason. If given any chance not to take her...DONT! Also, wouldn't round my final grade 0.2...
Organic chemistry is a difficult subject, but it's not impossible to get an A in the class. Dr. Gordon's practice problems and knowledge checks reflects her exams. Don't listen to the bad reviews and go into organic chemistry with an open mind. She is very helpful at office hours. Don't cram but study a little bit as you go along in the lectures.
This class is hard but doable. The final is cumulative, she split it up evenly between each exam. Sounds scary but the first two exam contents were much easier than the third so you'll be thankful. Not much bonus, & she won't round your final grade. Don't put this class on the back burner and expect good grades. Chads prep on yt was so helpful!!!
Absolutely loved her fill-in-the-blank lecture style. Attendance wasn't mandatory- but I highly recommend that you go. She takes time to answer questions and will go through topics thoroughly. I just wish she would have gave us the information to prepare for the ACS earlier on, and helped prepare us better for it.
If you took chem in high school you should be fine. Great lectures and good fill in the blank notes. Tests being 80% sucks but do what she says A LOT of practice problems. The ACS final sucks in general and study that book COVER to COVER as much as you can. Very nice teacher and was very pleased with her this semester.
Dr. Gordan is really friendly and very helpful when answering questions. Her lectures are very informative. But her class is made up of only tests and a couple of other graded homework assignments, so it's pretty hard to get your grade up. If you are good at chemistry, then you'll do fine, but if you aren't, then don't take her.
Dr. Gordon is wicked smart, and that makes it hard for her to see what subjects are hard for intro students. Her test are very difficult and you should start preparing as early as possible to ensure success. Also, don't be afraid to ask Gordon for help, she's very willing to help you if you need it. Use EVERY resource available to you.
She is a great teacher for Ochem. This is a hard class but she goes over every reaction multiple times if she has time to to make sure you understand. She writes practice problems, DO THEM the exams are also written by her so the practice will help greatly and give a good expectation. Homework is easy. Can tell she loves her job and teaching 10/10
I took organic chemistry 1 with Dr. Gordon twice. The first time was in spring and I got a D. This was completely my fault and not hers. The second time, however, was in the summer and I got an A. I paid attention and actually tried on the homework and practice problems. Dr. Gordon tries her best to help students succeed.
Dr. Gordon is absolutely amazing, her fill in the blank lecture notes were nice and organized and followed the book really well. Exams are a big bulk of the grade, but she gives you past exams to practice and plenty of practice problems and reviews. She's really kind and cares about her students. Definitely recommend!
Dr. Gordon is very nice and intelligent. She is willing to answer all questions and help during office hours. However, the lectures are sometimes scattered, she fails to explain/define a lot of things, and they do not accurately represent the test material. Ochem is difficult material, but it is impossible to learn in her class for most people.
She goes way too fast during the lecture, so I basically had to teach myself everything outside of class. Don't expect to retain much information
Be prepared to teach yourself everything. She cares about organic chemistry and is knowledgeable about the class but is not good at explaining the concepts. It is nearly impossible to follow her because she talks so quickly. It is a better use of time to go to the SI sessions and work with student tutors than go to class and try to learn from her.
Literally heard her say word for word "Let's put this question on the exam. It will trick them". Doesn't care about her students succeeding, office hours aren't that helpful.
Get ready to teach yourself. Not a great professor. Puts questions on the exam to trick students.
Decent enough professor. My only criticism is that she skips steps in solutions or in lectures because "it's easier to draw". Organic chemistry tutor, Khan academy, and the textbook are your best bets for this class. Use them and you should be able to manage a solid B.
She's fine ig. Her lectures make no sense to me, so I had to rely on si and teach myself the content. It's not hard content, but it is a hard class and very time-demanding. She moves so fast it's almost impossible to take in what she's saying. There were many times I would look down for a second, and all of a sudden she was on a new slide.
I thought Gordon was a great organic chemistry professor. Her notes are easy to follow and she can answer any question you give her. Super friendly and easy to understand. I think her other reviews are very harsh.
She single handily ruined my hopes and dreams. Absolutely awful professor and I had to teach myself everything outside of class. Prepare to not be able to keep up with notes. I chose to not wear a seatbelt on my way to her class each day on the off chance I could perish before getting there.
She was awful. She goes so fast through her slides and doesn't even do lecture videos so you can go back and watch. I was sick for a week and could not teach myself the material because of this. Her tests are terrible and the 3rd test in the course made it feel like she didn't want us to pass. I would never take her again.
worst teacher i have ever had. ochem is a hard class and she makes it even worse. take a different teacher if you can.
Unless you're someone who's naturally smart (you know what I'm talking about) and is great at teaching yourself don't take this professor. In the beginning of the semester you'll think this is gonna be a breeze but she doesn't fully go over each step, moves to fast, and her tests don't reflect her lectures. She does easy examples and insane exams.
She is smart and expects that everyone in her class is also. Doesn't really know how to "dumb down" some of the material, since she has studied it for so long. Her practice problems are very basic, while the exams (totaling to 80% of grade) are not reflective of them. SI sessions have not helped, since they go over her simpler practice problems.
This is a difficult course, but I believe that her exams are fair for the material at hand. The only way to succeed in this course is to put lots of time in outside of class studying the material, but that is to be expected. If you are dedicated to doing well, study enough in advance, complete her practice worksheets and past exams you will be fine
Orgo is HARD in general, but she doesn't understand how to make material easier for students to digest. It's clear she loves what she's teaching, but unless you can understand topics by hearing them once this will be a struggle. The homework difficulty PALES in comparison to the tests so study a lot... and then some more.
Her test are hard but setting aside time to study as you go along the material and starting to review the week before the test you should be fine! Go to her office hours!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is super nice and helpful with any questions you have!!
She kinda crushed my dreams and we've had a few hundred drop her class. Tests are incredibly hard and will typically include stuff we haven't covered, or the practice tests and practice problems are about 10x easier than exams. Goes over concept once and another one fifty times, the one she went over once is on the exam! Exams 80% of grade!🥴
wouldn't take her if I had better options to choose from. which I didn't. Tests are crazy hard and long. Finishing the exams within 50 minutes is nearly impossible, especially exam 3. Doesnt give very good guided notes and DOES NOT CURVE!!!!
Dr. Gordon is not an effective teacher. She speeds through lectures like she does not want us to understand the content, gives practice tests that do not reflect the real tests at all, and is not helpful when asked for help as she just gives broad, unclear answers. She has no interest in seeing her students succeed. If possible, take ANYONE else.
Dr. Gordon herself is very sweet; however, this class is awful. Organic is hard in general, but her tests are nearly impossible to take in the allotted time. She also has a tendency to speed through her lectures, so be prepared to learn everything yourself. She's kind, but this class desperately needs restructured for the students' sake.
Gosh, I don't even know where to begin. She expects so much of you on her exams, yet she teaches us the bare minimum in class. She does not know how to teach her own class. I know she is smart, but she is not capable of explaining the topics she is teaching. Her tests are SO unfair and hard. I think she needs to reevaluate her teaching skills.
These other reviews are harsh, OCHEM is hard in general and takes a lot of practice however she does give the resources for it. Yes, there are 3 exams and a final however she adds a project to help make the exams not destroy your grade. She posts the old exams for practice, I think she's a good teacher and wants the best for her students.
The class is tough by Dr. Gordon has always been accessible in and outside of class. Go to office hours if you need extra help, attend SI sessions, and make sure you go to all lectures, take notes, and participate in the practice problems. Dr. Gordon does a good job of explaining the material, but you will need to work outside of class to excel.
terrible teacher. seems like a very nice person, but shes awful at explaining stuff and moves through material so fast. averages on her tests are 60s and she doesnt scale them
do so much homework and it doesn't help your grade because the exams are worth so much credit.
i attended every si session, every class, and have studied for countless hours outside of class. i even had to get a tutor to reteach me everything because she does not explain material at all.
would rather have a life-threatening surgery then to take another class under her ever again! Truth hurts Dr. G!
I hate a teacher that will lie straight to your face and tell you that your ready for the exam. Then the exam has problems on them unlike you have ever seen. I think she expects all of her students to be genius' before they even go into her class.
Most terrible class I have ever taken and taught by and even more terrible professor.
I understand that this is a hard class. However, I feel she made it harder than it needed to be. Exams were nothing like her practice tests. Her "previous" exams she posts on canvas are way different than the exam you will be given. Feel like I could have done better if she would try to prepare you and not surprise you with what's on the exam.
Took Ochem exams from other professors/schools and scored all A's. You can understand the content to the level I have and still fail. She's the reason I'm balding. Please do yourself a favor and take literally any other professor.
First of All, People either rate her a 1/5 or a 5/5. The ones that rate 1/5 are coping. Its not her its your ability to study the material in a well KNOWN DIFFICULT CLASS. Shes incredibly kind and helps you when you ask. She gives time in class to ask questions. Seriously if you rate her a 1/5 you need to think about what YOU could have done better
Dr Gordon is a great person and teacher. You will succeed if you apply yourself. Not many teachers will dedicate an extra 4-6 hours a week for office hours and run around the room answering questions but she does. If you read the textbook before lectures, attend class, and go to office hours consistently there is no reason why you can't do well.
First of all the tests are so incredibly hard. I would study for at least a week leading up to the test and barely pass. The HARDEST material was the LEAST explained and showed up THE MOST on exams. Also she flies through her lectures so you kinda have to reteach yourself everything. If you have to take her USE THE TEXTBOOK helped me sm.
Organic chem is hard af, and this class is manageable until the 3rd test. The 3rd test is HELL, start studying at least a week before the exam. But it is manageable to get a B or C in her class if you try. Also, she is very sweet and nice and offers additional assignments to raise grades.

The class itself is difficult. She is a good professor, though her lectures alone will not allow you to succeed. Some stuff on the tests she may mention only once in lecture so make sure you use every resource. The pacing is not the best bc you have to learn 80 reactions within the last month. Study a ton and do your best on the first two tests.
This has been the hardest class I have taken, but I do not blame Dr. Gordon, the material is just tough. Her notes are confusing and you have to relearn a lot outside of class, but the content is hard so that is expected. Dr. Gordon's first two tests were easy, but the third one and the final are HARD. Study far in advance and it is manageable!
Ochem is naturally a very hard subject, however I don't think Dr. Gordon helped make it any easier. She was constantly behind on the material, so we had to fly through the hardest units in a short amount of time, which made the 3rd test hell. I would try to find another professor who is able to explain the material better if you have to take ochem.
Dr. Gordon should never teach again. The first 2 exams are very manageable but the 3rd one is extremely difficult. She loves to use only the simplest examples when teaching/on the slides and then puts questions on the practice sets and exams that we've never seen before. I'd rather set my myself on fire than take this class again. Use chad's prep.
Very nice & these reviews are extremely harsh. This semester the timing of the material got thrown off and she tried to cram all the material in time for the test, causing it to be rushed through and all thrown into test 3. Be prepared to teach urself and start studying at least a week prior. She is very nice and extremely helpful if you reach out.
Dr. Gordon gave so many resources and ochem is just a tough subject as is. She does move pretty fast and her tests get a bit complicated but if you dedicate enough time outside of class and start studying well in advance before tests you'll do just fine. She's also so nice and approachable so if you're having issues she'll answer questions.
This class is hard, but she is a good professor that cares about her students. You will need to go to every lecture and SI sessions to do well in class. Homework is completion graded not accuracy. There is one extra credit opportunity. Her exams are primarily written response so be overly prepared.
Lowk the goat. She's really gonna make you work for it, but you can tell she cares. If you're not naturally good at ochem, it's gonna require lots of practice and studying outside of class. Tests are hard so, make sure to start studying well in advance. Gives practice problems, make sure to do them! Rounded my 89 to an A!
Dr. Gordon's tests were often over 10 pages with lots of written response. She was good about partial credit. OChem is something you have to work your tail off for. I think she could've been a little nicer in terms of the difficulty of some problems. She tended to rush through material so she could give us a lot of time to do example problems.
