It's impossible to not get an A in this class, she offers extra credit weekly. She posts study guides for the exams which practically give you the questions on the test. I never went to class but read the book, followed the study guide, did some extra credit and got an A.
If you fail her class then you should not be in college. Her class was by far the easiest I have taken so far in college. Her tests are super easy even if you don't go to class. But, it's a little hard to take her seriously as a Registered Dietitian (if you've had her you know why.
easiest class ever- never went to class and got an A. study guides are exactly same questions on exams and are mutiple choice. powerpoints are all online. watch a few movies and gives extra credit.
SOO disorganized! ordered the wrong book for my class, always grades the tests wrong, and always came to class 10-15 minutes late. BUT, this was SUCH as easy class. I didn't always come to class, and I never read, and I still got an A.
Easy class, she shows up late every day and we always got out early which was the best part. Cant really take her seriously but she goes thru the powerpoint and then lets us go. Super easy i went every day b/c i was interested in the content. But if you dont go, prolly can still get an A
She is really nice and always late. I felt like I learned a lot more from my book than by actually going to class. All she does is flip through the power points and read right off of them. The projects were fairly easy and the test really had nothing to do with the study guide she gave us.
Easiest class ever. Seriously, the project is super easy and the exam questions are obvious. The class is actually interesting too. She comes to class late and releases us early. Take this class to boost your gpa!
Easy class. Doesn't take attendance. She shows up 15 minutes late every day and lets you leave early. More class time is spent explaining the diet analysis project than actually going over material. Tests don't really cover what was on the power points
She always showed up late to class and would read the powerpoints word for word, which she also posted online. It was easy not to show up and do well.
She will NEVER be on time to class, and you will most likely never stay until the end either. If you are looking for an easy A, take this class. You only have to go on exam days and study the power points and textbook chapters.
she is always late. powerpoints are extremly worthless, and dont help for exams at all. examples dont help. shes boring. states the obvious. I go to every class, everyday;so coming from me, its pointless to go to this class. just make sure you go when something is due. goodluck with her..
She is always late and almost always lets class out early. The powerpoints and study guides are not really what's on the exam, I recommend reading the book, it's your safest bet. Make sure you do the dietary analysis parts, though it's basically all she talks about.
I took this class over the summer for 5 weeks. Easiest A ever, online, easy essay tests. I never bought the book nor read any powerpoints and received an A. I am pretty sure she just gave you an A on the exams and never read them. EASY! horrible at communication though.
Doesn't take attendance. Always 10 min. late. Flies through powerpoints so fast, and doesn't use half of them. Not sure which ones we'll see on tests. Study guides helped. Great stories about her time in the field. Very nice.
I took this class to fulfill my science requirement and I expected it to be an easy A. However the tests were challenging and in great detail. The Diet Analysis project saved my grade completely. The tests are multiple choice, true/false type questions.
2 Big projects are pretty easy and actually are beneficial but make sure you visit a grad student before turning them in, four tests that are easy if you take notes in class but taking notes is not required because her powerpoints are online. She also says hungry in a way that doesn't make you feel guilty for eating chocolate cake,
She is nice, but she needs to be more creative in her lectures because she just reads her power points and it makes you not want to come to class. Though she does do these extra credit pop up activities that you can get extra credit from. You do 2 projects in this class! Also, her exams do get harder and more detailed due to the info. she teaches.
I took her Nutrition class at the Twinsburg campus. Unbelievably BORING. I could have missed every single class and still gotten an A. All you need to do is read the chapter and look at her PowerPoints. Tests - Easy! It was a complete waste of time. Definitely could have been an online class and would have made not one iota of difference.
Pretty good professor over all. Gives pop-up activities randomly but they're only worth 2pts. Tests are all multiple choice and scantron. Puts powerpoints online and pretty much tells you what will be on the test and what will not. Talks very slow and repeats herself but I've learned a lot in her class so far. Only 1 major project which is so easy.
Prof Blakely is very nice and helpful and always answers any questions you may have. She is very knowledgeable about her subjects. If you show up to class any pay attention to what she has to say you will be fine and should pass. Her exams are based off of her power points but she often adds information that you will need to be present to know.
I took her Science of Human Nutrition course, she is very friendly and knows what she is talking about. She, herself, is not very helpful. She refers you to her graduate students which grade everything but she will answer any quick questions. The project we do does not take very long and is not hard- even though she says it is. Go to graduate stud.
Not only are her powerpoints and lectures incredibly dull , all of the information she provides is so incredibly out of date that it is basically useless if you are actually interested in learning about nutrition. She is ALWAYS late and also has no idea how to use technology. Good luck.
Attendance is not necessary, neither is taking notes. Just as long as your readstudy before the tests. The tests are pretty easy, but some questions are arbitrarily confusing. Also, the project is worth a decent portion of your grade, so do well on it.
I took this course as a summer intercession (3 weeks long) online & I Must say it's a lot more work than I expected. The diet project is worth about half your grade and takes forever to complete, but it is easy to do. She gives clear instructions on what she wants. Didn't read her notes or the book & got an A just use your book & take her online (:
i was new2kent &she cldnt hve been more nicer whelping me transition in2 school she hlpd me get a cheapertxtbk 4nutirion class so i cld prepare4testsshe was always available4officehours evnthough i didnt study 4tests i passed wA she cares 4her students shealso offered 2recommend me 4the nurisng prgm i wish all profs cld b like her she was funny2
Carmen is an awesome teacher! I took Human Nutrition with her and got a B. You only have 3 exams, the final and two projects. There were like two homework assignments the whole semester. She explains everything a million times, her grads students are always available and she is super funny!!
She was a nice person but her lectures were all over the place, I had a hard time following. Her exams were all pretty easy. She is VERY helpful with the course project.
Professor Blakely-Adams was usually always late, and her lectures were all over the place. If you skip class (like I made the mistake of doing) you'll still get a C but just go. Test's are pretty hard (for most people) but if you study and actually work for it, they probably won't be too bad. Do good on the project or your grade will suffer!
The lectures were a little boring but she gave you all of the information you need for the exams. Exams were easy and she is an easy grader. I learned a lot of interesting things in this class and would definitely recommend her for Science of Human Nutrition.
I personally loved this class! I think Carmen is a wonderful professor. She makes the subject easy to understand and basically guides you to a good grade. If you go to class and take notes, you basically passed the exam. She will tell you EXACTLY what you need to know and give help whenever necessary. I would definitely recommend this class!
She doesn't let you take notes in class, "it's all on blackboard," then, all of a sudden, she'll say, "write this down." She's not organized and didn't have our test, so we had to wait to take it.
Carmen is really nice she's just a little dis organized. You don't need to go to class because she puts the notes on blackboard. Also the project for Nutrition is super easy which if you do well it will help your grade tremendously.
I took Carmen's nutrition class and it was a pretty easy class. She does not take attendance, and the text book was not necessary. Study for the tests, and do the DAP project and you will be fine.
Took her for Science of Human Nutrition, super easy class. All she does is read from the powerpoints that are provided, and sometimes the presentations are pretty vague. Any info can be found from the book. I stopped going to this class a few weeks in and I have an A. However, she didn't give us a study guide for the final until 2 days before.
Easy Class, Easy Tests, 2 Big projects that can boost your grade, but if done wrong they will really really hurt you. Graded thoroughly. Also, you don't use your book but you DO use the program that comes with it, but i think you can buy it separately so my suggestion is to buy the program first then if she assigns any book work buy it then.
Carmen made Nutrition a really easy class. I went to every lecture but the powerpoints she reads from are all online so it's not necessary to go. I found the book more helpful than the powerpoints to study for the tests/final but I'm sure you could get by without it. Super easy kent core science requirement.
Lectures are very vague and sometimes the way she explains things does not make sense. Tests and project are easy, not mandatory to go to class because she puts all info online.
Science of Human Nutrition is such an easy class. You have to teach yourself sometimes, but it's not difficult content. She uploads powerpoints on blackboard and you go over them in class. Her study guides for exams are very vague, so you have to figure it out yourself, but still not difficult. The 2 projects are very easy too! Easy A.
I had Carmen for Science of Human Nutrition. She is an extremely nice lady and knows what she is talking about but I absolutely do not recommend this class unless you can handle absolutely boring lectures. I'm not talking about boring, I'm talking about so boring you could fall asleep. I do my other homework in this class, good schedule filler.
She's honestly a nice lady. She needs to make her powerpoints more clear and send out study guides earlier on before exams. I think I would have liked this class more had the material been more clear. Not a bad professor. Just needs to work on having a more simple presentation of material.
She is really nice and everything but the content is hard, it is very easy to not show up to class so if you are not good at time management you should go. I never went and kind of studied for the tests, ended with a B. If you are not interested in the topic this class is a burden and you will most likely not want to get out of bed to go.
Professor Blakely was a good professor. She knew what she was talking about. If you have questions she will help you. Wants all her students to pass. If you read over PowerPoints and understand the material you'll pass.
Professor Blakely is a very special and caring professor she loves what she does and is there for your best interest.
I honestly loved Professor Blakely as a person. She was super sweet and genuinely cares about her students. The only thing is all you do in class is listen to her read off of a powerpoint that she shares with you on blackboard so you never really want to go to class. You are only graded on like two exams and two projects the whole semester.
Carmen is such a sweet lady, I really liked having her as my prof. The class is super easy; very few outside assignments are given, she gives you a study guide for every test, and the GA's walk you through the big project. All power points are posted on blackboard with the notes.
Super sweet professor, very understanding and wants students to succeed.
She was gone for a about 2 weeks and still felt the need to give a exam. Although the circumstances are reasonable I found the exam to be hard because of the lack of information/questions that was on the exam was not covered.
Ms. Blakely crams 4 chapters for an a final exam within a 2 week time period, and is not a good lecturer. She had to be absent from class due to personal issues & our test was modified to fit the chapters that were covered, giving us a 77 question final. We had 2 sub professors during that time period and they both taught the class better than her.
Not a good teacher. She seems lazy and missed class for over two weeks. Even though her reasoning was more than fair, she insisted on giving us a final for 154 points (originally supposed to be 100) and couldn't just go easier on us. She also is so out of shape, to a point it makes her lose credibility to be a nutrition professor.
She cares about making the class as easy and understanding as possible. She gives hints on what is going to be on the exams and has grad students to help with projects.
super sweet & caring lady. honestly if you go through and understand each question on her study guide then you'll pass the class with no issue. take your project seriously, get grad students to check it before you turn it in or itll affect your grade. i missed alot of classes and still managed to get an A. attendance isnt mandatory but go anyway.
I loved this professor so much! One of the best professors Ive had since being in college, highly recommend her for nutrition. You have 4 exams and a 2 part project to do, which isnt hard at all and her study guides match her exams! She has a great personality and very understanding and knows her stuff
Pretty easy A. However, the material was repetitive, she was late a lot, and combining that with tech issues almost every class, lecture would usually only be 25 minutes. I always left frustrated and felt like my time was wasted. She provided study guides, but some points she didnt even cover. She seems really nice, but this class was not great.
Super boring class. I never paid attention and would just study her study guides to the max.
kept forgetting about when exams were so they had to be pushed back and had to rush the whole semester. Found exams hard because of the lack of information/ questions during the exam. The projects saved my grade in the class. Although she is very understanding and knowledgeable on what she is talking about
She makes exams super easy. As long as you show up to class and get her extra notes she gives out in lecture, it's an easy A. Gives study guides for every exam, not everything on the study guide is in lecture but you can look it up on google.
This professor took too long with putting in grades and the final! Also lectures were really boring not worth going to because PowerPoints were online to read from and do the study guide!
She was ok. I didnt go to one lecture (literally). Just study for the tests and youll do fine. She gives everyone the powerpoint lectures
I literally never went to class, I barely studied and got a C on every exam. I got A's on the projects so I balanced out to a B. This class requires minimum effort and if you hate science classes, you'll be ok.
I found going to this class incredibly painful, and only went for exams or to turn in the project. All she does is read from a power point, which she posts to Blackboard. I had a hard time paying attention during lecture because it was the least engaging thing in the world. Nice woman though. Study for the exams & do the project and youll be fine
Loved this professor, she really cares about her students. Study for exams and you will do fine. 3 exams, a final an easy 2 part project and 2 short homework assignments which are graded for completion. 100% recommend
It was such an easy class, she gives you a study guide and the exam is the study guide. She also is the most understanding and kind professor about issues. You probably won't have to go to class to get a decent grade just study the study guide.
Dr. Blakely is a really sweet woman. I felt as though I didnt need to attend lectures that often because the grade mainly consisted of tests which were covered in the textbook along with her helpful study guides. When I did attend lecture, she was helpful to all and we did games to prepare for lecture.
Carmen is the easiest teacher and Nutrition is the least painful science. She gives study guides to all the tests (they are 3 or 4 in total, final included). There are only 1-2 homework assignments, which are very easy. The nutrition project is an easy A, go to the graduate assistants! I didn't use the online book, but it was a Flashback.
Carmen is a pretty bad Professor. She reads off of slides and does not do anything else. The lectures were SO BORING I ended up playing on my phone or laptop the entire time when I did go to class. Honestly, minimum effort is required for this class as the material is super simple and she gives decent study guides. Just go through the slides.
She is very nice and cares about students, her exams are not very hard, although you still need to study. If you do the work, it will be an easy A. Very few grades (4 exams, 2 projects, 1 homework assignment.) She posts the notes on blackboard and recommends just listening during lectures instead of writing every single thing down.
Ms. Blakely is fine. She over explains, repeats a lot of information and talks very slow, but the tests are pretty simple, just make sure you study some beforehand. I honestly had to reteach myself most of the information after class because she would over explain and confuse me to no end
Blakely is an okay professor. She tends to be rude in her emails and practically says, "don't email me, email the GA's." there are weekly quizzes based off the weeks video. pretty easy if you can still use your notes for in-person. Four exams in total. She does provided a study guide and I do recommend filing it out. Then the exam will be easy!
Dr. Blakely is clearly knowledgeable about the subject matter, and tends to over explain things. This class is a super easy class & her exams are usually pretty simple if you pay attention even a little bit. She provides study guides for each exam - do them. Her emails come off as rude, but I think she does try to be funny
Blakely is just your average professor. I did not attend one lecture and still managed to pass with an easy A. For Quizzes I recommend using the PowerPoints she gives out in the notes section and key word searching answers. For tests I recommend using a combination of that and quizlet. Her class was an overall easy A with minimal effort required.
Blakely was a good professor. In the online class, there are no meeting times. The lectures are all videos on Blackboard and they're a bit long, I always sped them up to 2x. None of the quizzes or exams are proctored. There is a short 5-question assignment due every Sunday night at 11:59 pm. I'd say it's an easy A.
This professor really take the time to explain the concepts and gives examples
I took her for Nutrition and she was amazing. The majority of the class is a lecture and quiz each week. She was very respectful and understanding when it came to grades and extensions. There is also a Dietary Analysis project that is the majority of your grade and if you do both extremely easy parts, you will get a good grade in her class.
Asynchronous, didn't watch lectures. Quickly looked over slides
Mostly reading textbooks and taking quizzes. Open book. The lectures are really boring. If you use the search feature in the textbook, you can find most of the answers you need for the quizzes. I would take it again.
Professor Blakely gives out study guides that really help out on the exams. Easiest class I have taken at Kent State. Attendance is not mandatory but for repetition purposes, I would highly recommend going to all of the lectures. Lectures are kind of boring but Professor Blakely relates topics to everyday life which seems very informational.
Prof. Blakely is so sweet! She changed to due date for an exam and I got confused and missed it. She reopened it for me so I could take it! Genuinely, such a sweet professor even through my computer screen!
Dr. Blakely is so sweet and caring. I did get bored sometimes during lectures, but I enjoyed and respected that she would mention personal experiences in her lectures to add to the material. There are 3 exams besides the final, 2 projects, and 2 homework assignments. Not many opportunities to improve your grade since there aren't many assignments.
Prof. Blakely did not teach and the lectures only consisted of her reading the slides.
Dr. Blakely is a very good professor. She is a respected, well established clinician in her field, and it shows. Her class was easy to follow along, and she gave very clear instructions on projects, and the study guides were basically the exam. I would definitely take her course again. She just wasn't the most tech savvy, which is ok with me.
This professor DOES NOT teach current nutritional facts. What she is teaching that is "right" has been proven wrong. Some of what she says is right, most is wrong though. Good luck in there if you do have her, and if you don't want to learn "facts" I recommend a different teacher. But she is nice, confused, and reads her slides word for word.
no homework really, so exams make up almost entire grade! would love some homework assignments so exams wouldnt be so much pressure.
Prof. Blakely was horrible. Her canvas page was very disorganized, making it very difficult to find assignments/quizzes. Also, she would consistently change due dates for assignments making it difficult to identify what's due. Her voice overs where filled with 'ums' and 'uhhs' and mispronounced many easy words. Her emails were incomplete sentences.
Very odd class. The majority of classes were lectures that she pretty much read off the board. She was extremely out-of-date with information and almost insensitive about food. The major assignments are graded by a TA, which made it difficult to relate the topics from assignments to in-class. Exams are not very difficult and word-for-word.
Prof. Blakely is AWFUL! she showed up at least 10 minutes late EVERY class, and she canceled class one time without telling us in the class before. Her emails responses are RUDE to simple questions. She reads straight from the board, and does not teach up to date topics. Her exams are online with open browser and she shows up late on exam day too.
The Study guides are basically the exam but there's a couple things from study guide that's not in the lectures, and when I ask here about it via email she's very rude. She also reads straight from the slideshows. There's 2 projects but the 2nd one is really hard
She was really sweet and caring of all her students. Not many assignments. Was lecture heavy but all the slides she read off of and talked about are accessible to you through canvas.
Attendance is non-mandatory, but she showed up 10 minutes after the start time of every class—only 3 assignments total, excluding exams. Only read through slides, and email responses were rude. She dismissed us after 20 minutes of class once because of an appointment instead of cancelling class. That class is 75 minutes long. Would not take again.
Easy class, you really don't have to show, but make sure you sprinkle in some days where you go. Exams are simple, always open browser and she doesn't seem to care whatsoever. A good portion of what she says is outdated, but if you need a GPA booster take it. Overall, I'd take it if you need to get a science credit out of the way.
youre guaranteed to do bad on the projects if you don't meet with the ta in person to have them check it for you which is a horrible education model. i tried to ask about my score because honestly they werent very clear on the grading criteria because the canvas is a hot mess.they take points for little things. if you arent meticulous, dont take it
The class itself isn't difficult. There is about one lecture per week with homework. There are 2 projects as well. The tests are a little more difficult as she would constantly post slideshows with wrong information on them. She will update the slides but keep the wrong ones on Canvas anyway, so it gets confusing which ones are correct.
This class was very informative and taught me a lot. There wasn't an undoable amount of work, it is completely doable as long as you follow the deadlines.
While the class itself was fairly easy, Dr. Blakely's teaching style was another story. Her Canvas page was disorganized, and due dates often contradicted with the syllabus. Her emails and announcements appeared dismissive and unhelpful. If you can, avoid this course to spare yourself the frustration, but if not, stay organized and you'll be fine.
