Disrespectful, non-helpful, purposefully ruderejices in student failure

Is locked in her own world and truely could not care about you or your career path. She just wants to get you in and get you out. She is always booked up b/c we can't go to anyone else!

I definitely agree that Cuevas has her preferences and it is usually with Hispanics. She may have a law degree however she is has been known to mis-advise several students. If you are getting her advise I suggest you double check with another source.

Sorry but you are Hispanic so your views will be different than those that are not. I agree with those that mentioned that she is prejudice, I have heard this lady talk to some people. She's a nut case for sure (nice word for her).

Every semester she change her advising standard, she definitly delay my graduation!!!!I was suppose to graduate long time ago if not for her unclear standard!!!

To be an advisor she doesn't seem to be very concerned about the students...would much rather avoid her ill advise if possible.

I think the last entry was made by Dr. C her self, because anyone who meet this woman in real life would aggree she is NOT nice, NOT helpful, Extremely RUDE, self-serving, and must get pleasure from others misfortune and suffering.

Again, she gave no clear advising standard!!! Her advise is keeping changing changing &changing!!! so keep looking for other options if she only give you one~She is not that flaxable when comming out advise.

she is such a liar, she shouts at students, misbehaves and even hangs up on students and the next day she goes to the Dean to complain that the student did all those things.Worst advisor, doesn't know nothing and helping students is not in her list.

Should be fired. I'm a professional, I have never seen such a dis-interest in doing one's duty. Her attitude and lack of assistance has dis-suaded me from even attending UHD. She's rude, short and has no business being an advisor.

Definately should be fired! Horrible person as well as advisor. Extremely rude and unhelpful. Makes you feel stupid for asking certain questions. She enjoys the powertrip of controlling students' schedules, and does what she wants if she feels like it.

This person is terrible! Insensitive, uncaring, rude, and heartless are all understatements. Note to UHD administration: You NEED to do something about this advisor, SOON. I'm going to transfer to Sam Houston next semester b/c of this winch.

This woman has major issues. She's not at all a "people person", and sure as hell has no business even thinking about advising anyone. Very belligerent, rude, and to bluntly put it, is down right ignorant. I swear a house is going to fall on her wicked a**.

I hope for her sake she is a better teacher than an advisor my experiences with her as my advisor have been horrible. Unfortunately, if you are a business major at UHD she is basically unavoidable. I would not risk taking her for a class don't trust those other posts from people who like her.

I agree with the other posts if you're not a people person why advise. Her demeanor towards servicing students is very unprofessional. If you have signed up for any of her classes get out now!!! She is crazy and has major issues.

This woman is unhappy and was rude to me when i was looking to get admitted into the business school, very unprofessional and downright a B I T C H, avoid her at all costs.

This is a very rude and unhappy woman. She has no business advising students. She needs to be advised on how to talk to people. After being advised by her I would not refer her class to anyone. Avoid this tiger as much as possible.

Terrible attitude. If you are being advised she makes you feel as though you are bothersome. She does not make you feel welcome and just wants to finish her list of appointments as soon as possible. If you are a Business major, you can not avoid her.

I had an appt with her and wound up seeing Ms. Tabacco instead. Based on previous comments, it appears that I was very fortunate. Here's a point: This woman must be really full of herself in that she expects to be addressed as "Dr. Cuevas" when, according to everything I can find, she holds a law degree (JD) and not a PhD. Definitely a head case.

She was not helpful at all!!! I had to go to the Dean of the college because this woman was so unwilling to help. Fortunate for me the Dean was helpful and things were taken care of properly, no thanks to her!

This lady is a complete basket case. Full of herself to say the least. Funny, she probably pulls only $25K a year being an advisor. She's bitter because students despise her.

Unhelpful to say the least.. she does not belong in the advising department at COB.. not willing to help students out or guide them.. expects students to figure everything out themselves.. does not take queires about business degree in a good way.. arrogant.. her best answer is that she doesn't have enough time or resources to answer the students!

Everything they say is true! I was shocked and astonished at the attitude Dr. Cuevas had in my first encounter with her. I am the nicest person to everyone I meet at UHD and was astonished that people on the faculty who deal with students act in this manner. I would not register for a class she is teaching even if it was my last.

Worst Advisor, Stay away from her. She never have time for student and She makes you feel stupid. I don't know why Uhd is still keeping such type of Arogant and stupid person as the advisor.

I've had the unfortunate luck of dealing with Dr. Cuevas for advising & I found her to be unprofessional,short tempered, rude, arrogant and down right vile.I'm sure that what she does is important but she acts like she is God. She either hates students or herself. Either way, she is a danger to the educational process.

Outdated. she acts like a comunist dictator. she things that she is a good and students are her servants. UHD needs to make the advising office about advising students. Not for Cuevas to feed her psycho ego on by acting important with students.

UHD needs to replace her with a Director that cares for students. Cuevas only knows how to say "you can?t" and discourage students. She thinks she is a high ranked General and has no understanding or consideration for the needs of students. Treats all students as they are retarded, without any respect even if they proved to gave perfect grades.

COB is showing to be hypocritical, teaching us importance of ethics, respect, and efficiency while keeping cuevas on position after years of torture she has shown to her students. My friends graduated 5 years ago and say the dame thing. Your life would be much better if you never had to face her.

somebody in UHD management needs to wake up and review her performance. only thing she does not do, is to help advise students. useless and acts like she owns the school and students.

I've not taken a class w/her & dont want to either!I needed a BA3350 apprv'd 4 SumI, she said I couldn't bc i had to take them n the order they're n UHD catalouge, I told that I take classes acc'd 2 my sched & tht there has never been a prob, she didn't care & said "sorry" I couldn't take a class in the summer, another advisor has apprv'd my course

Useless. Her mission seems to be to try and intimidate students. Remind her that her job is to assist students, to be at their service. That's it!!!

I have had a few unfortunately unpleasant encounters with her as counselor and Associate Dean of the COB. From the manner in which the COB GPA change was handled to the passive aggressive emails she responds with, I feel it fair to say there is/has been little regard given to the needs of current UHD COB students.

I addressed her as "Ms Cuevas" in an informal email. She promptly responded that she does not appreciate this;she worked very hard for her titles and degrees. Umm...really? She must be miserable with where her degrees haven't taken her. Be sure to address her as Dr. Cuevas, PhD of COB Advising. Maybe she would be less bitter if it were UH/Rice?

Carmen Cuevas is probably the most condescending person that I have ever had to encounter.As an assistant dean, you would think that a person needs more compassion.She has NONE. Instead of wanting to do well in school, she has pretty much shot my confidence level from an 8 to a 4.I hope that she learns to be more patient when dealing with students.

She is perhaps the most unprofessional person I have ever had to deal with. I find it amusing that UHD has closed open enrollment with the hope of appealing to higher level students (academically). This is amusing because it will never happen unless UHD and COB address the unprofessional attitudes of their administrative staff.

I just read a whole bunch of these comments and find most of them to be what i came here to write! omg! how is she still here after years and still act the same way she does, not only unprofessional but also very rude! I wonder what I've done to make her act that way but after reading this, I'm actually not the only one she is rude toward.

I am sure that everyone that has had to come to her was because of serious matters. Please don't think she will care. It's almost like she smiles when she knows you are helpless. I choose to go to UHD because I am paying for my school and it is what I can afford. I am not sure if the title of Dr, has desensitized her. She is rude and condescending.
