This instructor is cool. If you are not good in math this will be a struggle. Rushed through working math problems. Lots of handouts. Book only used for homework. Lots of homework that you don't have to turn in, but you have to do it b/c you will be quizzed on it. Extra credit offered. Group assignment is class presentation.Gives test reviews.
Lots of homework. Lots of extra credit offered. Rushed through chapters during the summer session. Not too much time focused on answering questions during class. I recommend this instructor. Ditto on the comment made about struggling if you are not good at math.
She is a nice teacher, she offers lots of xtra credit to help on grades. she does have lots of homework but only checks it twice a semester along with projects assigned. So you can do it at your own pace. She is also nice enough to allow notes for tests (a cheat sheet) and yeah the book is only used for homework use.
Very nice teacher. She does give a lot of extra credit which is helpful to those who need it. The only thing I can say is that she reads her notes off each class then moves on, you're never in there a full class period and it's hard to get her to explain anything. I guess it's hard to do that with Math. Overall, one of the best teachers.
Handouts were very helpful. Instructor was available at the end of class for people too shy to ask questions in front of the entire class like me and gave mutliple explanations if you didn't understand the first one. She was always available to help. Review prepared us for tests. Overall a great instructor if you struggle with Math.
Horribly boring class. The biggest part of your grade is a group project, that your CLASSMATES grade you on. You do not pick your own groups, so if you get stuck with a couple of slackers, not only do you do it all on your own, but you get a crap grade for it too. I do not recommend this professor to anyone. I wanted to blow my brains out everyday.
She is awful to follow and has a horrible sense of humor that she finds hilarious. I learned more from a fellow class mate then I did in her class. Very disappointed. My suggestion, if you want to teach yourself, take her....if you want to be taught...don't.
The Good: She give you a lot of extra credit and ways to get an A. The tests are at the testing center and you a 5 day block of time to complete them so you don't get stuck with 2 hard tests on the same day. The Bad is that w/ homework, pop quizzes (u about these) & Group Project this is a very time consuming class. Pannell is a nice lady.
Great Professor! :) I really enjoyed how she would explain things in more than just one way so that everyone can understand the material. She offers a lot of extra credit for those of us who rely on it to make their ideal grade and the test extra credit is a great way to study the material because it is challenging thus making the tests seem easy!
This professor makes the class fun and makes it to where you actually learn the information. You will have to do a lot of homework but the homework 1) beefs up your grade and 2) helps you learn the information and gives you notes to return to. She is a great teacher who is enthusiastic about her students learning. I would recommend her to anyone!
AWESOME teacher. Enthusiastic w/ a sense of humor. As an engineering student this is my comfort zone. However, for the students who weren't so comfy, she'd take the time to go step by step to explain. Her tests are nearly the exact problems from the previous 3 quizes & the homework prepares you for the quizes. By far the best teacher I've had EVER!
Carmen is a really cool teacher. She expects you to do the homework and know your stuff the next time you come to class. Its alot of self study when it comes to homework but you can ask her questions when you get to class. I got an A but I had to work for that A. Its hard but very doable if you dedicate your time to the HW! Very Time consuming!!
Carmen is a great teacher! Her standards are set a bit high but I think she does that to motivate you. I had a good time with this class because of her enthusiasm. Attending office hours are helpful and studying is a must if math isn't your thing. I studied, did all the assignments and extra credit, and got an A in the course.
I was really disappointed by her class. She gives handouts for every section, quickly goes over them, and doesn't give thorough explanation. There isn't enough time to take additional notes as the handouts are part of a daily quiz that counts towards your grade. I advise you choose another professor for trig.
PLEASE DON'T TRY TO TAKE A CLASS WITH HER.
Do your homework, and study for the tests... simple college class that you can pass by taking the neccessary college requirements to pass. She gives extra credit - most professors don't give this. Also she is teaching an SI lead class for extra help... She's funny and laid back, but doesn't mess around with laziness.
Awesome teacher! she makes things very easy to understand and makes her test basically like the reviews. i took her college math class and passed it with no problems. she is very helpful and cares about her students AS LONG AS SHE SEES YOU ARE TRYING AND PUTTING EFFORT, she will help you with anything.
She is an awesome prof. She gives a lot of extra credit: homework, handouts, and attendance. Thus, the handouts, homework and attendance can boost your grade. You can do your handouts with your classmate, also you can ask her for the correct answer. So, it's impossible to get it wrong. I'm not an A student on math. But i got an A on her class.
Professor Pannell was great. She is quirky and herself, which made the class fun! She likes to give extra credit, especially to those who aren't paying attention. She is always there to help during office hours.
There's a ridiculous amount of extra credit, around 10% of the final grade. The material is inherently difficult and covers a lot of concepts. It takes a lot of work outside class to really become familiar. Tests weren't easy. But she goes out of her way to help. All the lectures/labs are online and she answers email quickly.
Class was very organized and professor explained the material very well. Lab handouts are exactly what is on the exam just different numbers so you know what type of questions you need to study. Homework is graded for completion but really helps you practice. Class is not that hard if math is your forte.
This was by far the best math class have taken. Carmen is a great teacher and she explains things perfectly. Massive amount of extra credit about 10% maybe. If you do all your hw and labs you will pass the class no problem. The labs are exactly what's on the test just change in numbers, anyone who fails this class is not taking college seriously
She is funny and quirky. She tries to makes the class very easy and enjoyable. If you fail this class, you have to really try. Lots of extra credit, just do all the homework and quizzes to up any low test grade. I would love to take her again for another math class.
She makes the class very organized, which I really appreciate. Easy to follow along with her during lecture b/c she will give hand-outs on her notes. The labs are easy and you should keep them to use for study material on the tests. Do the homework and you are not trying if you don’t make an A in this class.
Great math Professor. She was really generous with extra credits. Attendance, homeworks, and daily assignments will count towards your grade. Tests came directly from the daily assignments. Very clear with lectures, although sometimes she would get confused also. Overall, got an A on the class by doing homeworks and attending. She'll help you pass.
Only need the book for the homework assignments. Carmen writes everything on the projector and uploads the notes to blackboard, but skipping class is not a good idea if you want to understand the concepts. She explained trig very clearly and it has proved very helpful in Calculus.
I used to hate math but already miss this class. I used to struggle w the subject but prof explained everything so well - I really get it! She is funny, laidback, super-helpful. Can't rave enough about her. Tests are laid out beforehand - you will know exactly what to expect and will have had plenty of practice. Keep up w homework, show up easy A
Carmen is great! Her expectations are outlined on the first day of class. She responds to email almost immediately. If you have any questions, all you gotta do is ask because she's always ready to help! . Her lectures are informative and useful. I look forward to taking her for College Algebra.
hated attending her lectures, polished problem solving and quick run by through material. I also disliked having to solve problems immediately, based on the material just lectured, for a grade. Personally needed time to go over material alone to understand, so felt performance pressure and I ridiculous for not "getting it" right away.
Her teaching style is unclear but the worksheets she provided are really helpful when you study. The labs in class are useful in case you have questions of the material instructed that day. The information is given at a rapid pace, so you will have to prepare beforehand. Be prepared to teach yourself a lot of the information.
Carmen is wonderful! I loved trig, but if you're not really great at it, she gives a lot of opportunities to make up your grade. Her tests were a little tough but like I said, she gives a lot of extra credit. Gives in class work, but you can work w people & when you turn it in, if u have smthng wrong she'll let u correct it. Attendance is a plus!
She is awesome. Her class is difficult, but she provides resources and extra credit to help her students. Attendance is mandatory- it is the only way to get the daily worksheet you do for homework.
If this is your first college math class, I would recommend a different professor. She goes through the material VERY quickly. Do NOT buy the textbook that she requires you to buy. We never used it. Instead we use an online class that costs almost 100 bucks. If you need help go to tutoring after or before. I dare you to ask a question during class.
Amazing teacher, I refuse to take a math class if she is not the professor. She is willing to help you pass. She gives a lot of opportunity for extra credit, and although you have homework assigned every time you meet its pretty easy. One of the best professors I have ever had.
Grading policy is very clear and lots of extra credit. Just follow her HW schedule to study. Test is easy if you do the lab. Great professor
Rude, unfunny, and bad at explaining things. Moves much too quickly through the material.
be ready to do LOTS of homework, very tough grader takes off points for any little thing, posts notes, extra credit, and study techniques on her blackboard.
If math is not your strong suit, this is the class and definitely the best instructor. PLENTY of extra credit - do it all, make yourself a buffer to help your cumulative points total. Very caring and accessible - wants her students to succeed. You must show you are trying, putting forth the effort. Just show up everyday, do the work, make an A.
I took the 5.5 week course and if it wasn't for the extra credit I probably wouldn't have passed. Yes she does move fast so pay attention. I took written Homework's to the learning lab for help. TEST ARE JUST LIKE IT. Please do the extra credit! The learning lab at HLC was a great help for me! It was so worth it in the end and I got a B.
I didn't like how we had to pay 99.00 for the mymathlab. Because of that I made sure I was going to pass! The written homework is is a huge help toward your grade so make sure its all correct. I took mine to the learning lab. DO ALL THE EXTRA CREDIT. Even if you don't finish it all she'll still give credit. She probably won't mention that in class.
Carmen is a great teacher. She gives out a TON of extra credit. Do it, if you do, you probably won't need it since you'll become a master, and you'll have a guaranteed A. Which is necessary if youre taking this class(an engineer needs to know how to do algebra). Hint-It's your fault if you end up having to pay for mml.
In the middle of the semester with her and while she does offer a lot of extra credit and resources like in-class test preparation sessions (I'm in a DL class) she does not clearly define what is expected in her written homework assignments then seems to be frustrated that students are not meeting her expectations.
Took her 6 week college algebra class, it was a lot of homework, and test were basically every 1-2 weeks. Her lectures are very well organized, she does give you the notes and worksheets. She also gives plenty of extra credit if you have any extra time to do it. Overall, I would recommend but be prepared to work for a good grade.
This class was a major challenge. I felt that the homework was pretty easy and I even made good grades on them. Min grade of 85 to 100. When it came to the tests, it felt like I wasn't even taught the material that was on there. I debated whether or not to drop the class but pushed through and still failed. Waste of money for this class.
She is a really amazing professor! Homework is very important. She is very willing to help and wants her students to succeed. I love this teacher!
She is so helpful! You get to correct your tests for 50% credit back. She is very prompt at replying to emails. If I could take her again I totally would! Do your work and youll make an A!
Just the best honestly if you struggle with math and only need one class for your degree do not go to anyone else!
This is a great course for non-math majors. She's very clear and organized. Do your homework assignments! Her study guides reflect the exams exactly AND you have time to practice problems in class. There's no reason not to do well in this class but if math is not your forte, utilize the tutoring labs! Or she's avail in her office hours.
You're only allowed to skip like 3 or 4 classes. She takes off points from hw/tests for little things like if you forget a negative sign. And she has a lab after each lecture which she expects to be turned in for a grade. Aside from all of that she's an amazing professor and has tons of extra credit available. W/o it I would have like a B in class
Great teacher! She gives you tips on how to remember the material. You can tell that she enjoys what she teaches. Don't miss class. Do the practice tests on blackboard! She goes pretty fast and there is quite a bit of homework (my math lab and written) but I took the 11 wk summer course.
If you go to class everyday and take notes youll do fine. Most of your grade comes from the exams and she told us she wants us to create our own review from our notes and the online homework assignments but heres a secret: use your notes to do the test reviews and the study those. The exams are exactly the same material from the test reviews.
She is a very picky grader and gives tons of homework but in the end she allows lots of extra credit opportunities
Grades Hard.
My class was the pilot class for Carmen's and Sarah Krueger's developmental course, although i did well in this class having two professors in the class caused a sort of favoritism for the class. She doesn't explain things very often, which where we would ask help from the other professor.
Overall a very solid professor. She explained more advanced algebra in a way that was understandable while also giving you fun ways to remember how to do it in the future. Lots of homework, but it was not a waste of time as a lot of what was covered in the homework showed up on tests.
class was decent. giggles and laughs alot when she is uncomfortable making asking questions unbearable. does not like to be questioned in class and makes you feel uncomfortable for doing so.
Carmen has a corky personality and is genuinely a great teacher of math. I struggle with math a lot, but she teaches in so many different ways for all kinds of learners. If you need help in or outside of class she will help you. Do the test reviews- they are very close to what you will see on the tests. My only complaint-mymathlab is time consuming
She's passionate and knows her stuff. Without question I'd choose her again!
Even though I took a support class for this class, Ms. McCullough was very helpful in going over test reviews with us live online. She gave excellent feedback. She gave extra credit throughout the semester. She is a great Professor who helps you learn the problems. It does require a lot of time each week to keep up or to stay ahead with homework.
Honestly the worst teacher! Whoever takes her, you're going to fail. Takes off points for stupid little things, doesn't care if math is not your strong suit and grades you like you're a math major.
I feel bad for whoever gets this prof. She will make you feel stupid and gives you sassy remarks that are unnecessary. If you take her class, I would highly suggest hiring a tutor because she doesnt help, her videos dont make sense and shell take two days to answer you. Good luck having the worst prof ever.
she will call you out in front of the class if you're slow makes rude remarks at u. reviews are exactly like the test. gave 2 extra credits, 5 pts on first test if u go to her office, 3pts on overall grade. she replies quick to emails. CLASS IS MAINLY GROUP WORK. hw 3 times a week on mml and 1 to turn in everyweek. posts grades fast
So I had some family emergencies and basically missed the first month and was able to work hard and make up a lot of the work. She made me work hard for it but I enjoyed the challenge and her feedback and guidance helped a lot. This is one of those classes that you get what you put in - would highly recommend for the motivated.
Professor McCullough is okay. You can pass the class easily if you do all the homework and attend class. She can be a little rude but I suggest not taking it to heart. I took this class online and it wasn't too difficult to keep up with. Sometimes she takes points off for stupid stuff so just make sure you follow the directions on homework exactly.
Professor McCullough is great! I'm a journalism major and math is NOT among my strengths but somehow I got an A. She gives a lot of homework and the class is pretty intensive, but if you're willing to work hard you'll be fine. She has a great personality and really cares about helping her students succeed. Would definitely take from her again!
I hated this class so much. I tried my best but it was almost like she enjoyed putting me in the hot seat. I went to tutoring sessions and couldn't pass anything. She was super critical about every detail. And the extra credit was even harder than the assignments.
This professor had good content, explained things very well, my only complaint is that if you asked a math-related question, you would be put down for it. Essentially questions were unacceptable, so I had a hard time when I was confused. But otherwise, things were explained well and you won't have an issue passing if you pay attention.
Gives an impossible amount of homework. Grades very harshly. Emails are often unclear. Its like she doesnt proofread. You will spend more than 9 hours a week on this class. Do not take this class if you intend to have a life.
I went to her office hours for help, she was nice. Her class was fairly easy, she goes slow during lecture and has an effective way of teaching. The homework assignments are a little time consuming but are very helpful. I would take her again.
Carmen is a good professor. This class was HARD, but I think Carmen helped a lot with the material. Lots of outside resources and videos to help. DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!! I like how Carmen made the test reviews nearly identical to the tests. If you get the chance to have this professor then I would take it. The class is a lot of work.
She is a great prof! You def have to work for the grade but put the work in and you'll do fantastic. Math isnt my forte so I was in the learning lab alot and always asking her questions and I got an A. Follow the course schedule. She drops your 5 lowest homework grades and offers some EC. I would totally take her again.
I love Professor McCullough since she is very accessible and helpful when needing help on assignments and she explains very well the subjects. The textbook is online and she gives a code so is FREE and only use for the homework.
It's hard to find good things to say about her... she doesn't teach. All her classes are just an hour of her doing example problems, and she does not explain how they work. She will be passive aggressive if you ask "stupid" questions or forget the attendance code, or just won't answer your question.
Absolutely HATED my experience in this class. I participated in every class & made the most out of it. Carmen is sarcastic & makes comments if you answer incorrectly, which makes the task of learning that much more difficult - especially for those who are not naturally diaposed to math. HW covered in marks, sweeping deductions for small errors.
I've never had a Professor seem more like a drill sergeant. So far this course is proving time consuming and also more complicated than it needs to be. I wish I didn't need this course to complete my degree.
If you see this, DO NOT CHOOSE THIS PERSON The class starts on aug 28th, she already assigned HWS 2 weeks before, that already due the next week She is in office one week and out for 2 extra Rude disrespectful at answering Weird grading scale, tests are 70% of the course 2000 assignment a week, and pray to god you get 80%, depends on her mood lol.
Worst instructor I have ever had, Better move on and not waste your time with her - Tough grader, she thinks she is giving nuclear science courses. - Disrespectful - too much assignments for an online class, you will need 12+ a week to be successful. - Unclear instructions. - She thinks all what students do in their life is taking this math class.
Test are 70% of your grade so even if you do all hw and get high grades on them you will still drop heavy on overall grade if you bomb a test. I plan on withdrawing because of this.
(OL Synch Class) Pros: Lectures are very organized Chill instructor Gives out reviewers before tests Cons: Grades heavily on tests (70-80%) So much homework (around 5 HWs every week😔) Some problems aren't on the lectures (rarely)
Hard class.
Math 1325 is a struggle in general if you're not the best at math. She will help you if you ask, but most of your grade is based on exams which is like 80 or 90 percent. Carmen> Madrigal. Madrigal messes up a lot on her work, while Carmen rarely messes up as much as she does. Just don't bomb the exams and you should be fine.
Prof. McCullough is a great math professor. She is very organized, sets clear expectations, grading criteria & lectures. I was online so everything is recorded which I found helpful to rewatch/rewind when needed. This class is not an "easy A" but I'd highly recommend this class for mature people who know college is work and appreciate organization.
Take a different class! She deducts points for the smallest things and hardly teaches the material. I've basically had to teach myself. Even though I go to embedded tutoring every day, I still struggle on the tests. There's also a heavy workload with lots of homework, written assignments, and quizzes.
In my experience, prof. McCullough is pretty fair overall. In the event that there were errors on my written assignments, she would let me know that it could be fixed and resubmitted for full points, even if it was beyond the submission deadline (within reason). This is not an easy class by any means, and it does come with a pretty heavy workload.
This professor is a JOKE do NOT take her under any circumstances. Talk about tough grader? NO if you don't do it the way that SHE wants you to do it. She'll just give you a 0! This is the worst professor I've ever had in my college career. If you want to fail and hate your life go ahead and take her! She's ridiculous with grading I'm not sure why!
