Lecture material vague.Material on exams not covered in lecture.Rude-standoffis
Unclear about what you need to know, not very helpful, vague teaching, talks too
very upbeat teacher. knows her stuff well. wants students to succeed.
She tried to explain and made sure you understood but rude sometimes
tests not consistent with lecture, knows material well but I did not learn anyth
she is a good teacher-tests were fair if you read the material from the book. Y
Too many students have excess time to bitch! The majority of the class got A's!

UNFAIR TEACHING AND GRADING PRACTICES- WORST PROF EVER!
enthusiastic, tests rather hard, have to study def. for this class.
Our class averages on exams were always in the 80s. shes very enthusiastic
I worked hard i nthis class and got a C-..her tests arent easy.
Teaches the class like students should already know the material
Keep up with reading and go to class. The material is mostly common sense
There seems to always be more than one answer for her test questions.
One of the worst teacher I have ever had at GVSU
Probably the worst professor at GVSU. Can't teach; unfair grading
if you study and go to class, you'll do good. she grades fair to those who try
She's seriously crazy, goes kinda fast, but she's fun and not a bad teacher
she will make up questions to ensure you that you will fail tests!
treats students like poo
she is a fruit loop, be to class on time or you'll get it
Upbeat, cares about student success
she is the wosrt proffessor in the world, i hate her she's unclear and annoying
Fun lady who is usually hyper, knows her stuff, not real leniet on absenses

Great lady- talks like Fran Dresscher, very nasal. Crazy tests, GO TO CLASS!
Likes to give exams over material NEVER covered in lecture. She sucks!
hardest tests ever! you'll learn healthy habits from her, but don't expect an A!
all she does is nag all class long has a hard tests bad teacher
Tests are very hard. You fail even when you think you did good
Very annoying. Test are hard and questions unclear
love to get professors that hate thier students
immature and rude
She is awsome you just have to study
anal about attendance, Tests are impossible even if you know the material, test have multiple right answers the hard part is guessing which one she wants. Evil teacher stear clear
She is very rude and inconsiderate, blunt and likes to yell. She has no respect for her students. Class in general is easy, but she makes it miserable!!!

HArd to understand at times, speaks quickly because she gets very excited about what she does. Tests aren't all that hard, but wording is often unclear. She takes attendance everyday so you have to attend lecture.
One of the best professors i've had at GVSU. Tests are fairly easy...just study and go to lecture. She is very respectful and helpful and loves what she does. My recommendation? take Prof. Nochera for HS 105 if you can. She's great!
She was quite the professor! Tests were very unclear and she had too many guest lecturers! Overall the class was easy! I think underneath her hard shell there's a nice woman!
It is clear that Dr. Nochera knows her stuff, but she is rude and degrading and her tests are difficult because it is confusing even if you know the material. She gets angry if you aren't clear on material so think about your question before you ask it!
For a 100 level Science cours, she places way too high of expectations upon her students and is just rude. This was the most difficult class i ever had and her classes wasted my time. I didn't learn a thing.
I liked her attitude, she seems mean but really isnt and you'll find out she lets you go with some things but then Hit you hard with tests becasue there is so much stuff to cover. She was gone a lot and took exam early which was nice !!!!
I really liked her. She has a great personality, full of spunk. You just need to pay attention and take good notes! Tests can be hard, just don't miss class and study.
not very clear on material and is difficult
I had Dr. Nochera as an instructor in the late 1980's; this woman has the spice and sexuality of a unique Latin woman: All traits imbibe her with the term: "One Hot Hoochie Mama!"
Great professor. CLass is not difficult. Study, go to class, and you will do just fine. She talks fast, but it always interested in what you have to say. Take her over the other professor who teaches clinicl nutrition.
She is crazy. Yeah she's funny but at the same time is very rude. She acts like what she is saying is so easy & makes people feel stupid when they ask a question. I am glad to have her over the other guy who teaches 305, but yikes!!
Better than other instructor, but very strange. Doesn't teach expects you to learn everything on your own. Is very rude when you ask a question.
wonderful teacher... easiest class i've taken. You just gotta read over your notes and know what the stuff is about.. and you'll do fine.
Crazy little woman. Somewhat entertaining just cuz she's all over the place. Thought it would be easy, but she doesn't know how to write tests. Says everyone will probably get an A, then there's one 90% out of the whole class. Very rude to students & if you miss 5 minutes it counts as an absence.
Her tests suck and she isn't helpful at all.
She was very rude to students, the exams got worse and worse as the semester went on. Stopped teaching after second exam. expects you to learn everything on your own.
Dr. Nochera was energetic and funny at first, and then she became strange, moody and rude to students. She constantly talks about her memory loss and menapausal condition and then grades you accordingly. She is extremely inconsistant and unreasonable. 1st bad prof at GVSU i've had in 3 years
she says shes a can be ****y and its true! goes through material in 5 mins then test you over it as if you actually learned something. one good thing is that you get out of class early
she seems to stress stuff that isn't on the tests... talks really fast and it's sometimes hard to understand... and when you do understand her she is usually talking about her "woman issues".... shes fun but if ou have no proir nutrition knowledge this class will be frustrating...
Psycho is all I can say. She is rude and yells at students when asked to explain something. She is an aweful teacher and expects you to learn everything on your own. Grades totally on her emotions...no one knows how she grades!
Yikes!Semester starts out well, but after a month, she stops teaching and you must learn everything on your own.Don't ask questions because after you do one time you never will again. She is rude, moody and hormonal. You must read and Know every detail from book, its most likely on the test.Good Luck!
This is a great summer class to take with Professor Nochera. She is straight forward. This class was taught like an independent study course and that really worked good for me. So as far as HS495 goes with this prof thumbs up!!
Lecture course, so you have to explain things to yourself and figure it out. Other than that great class, she simplifies things, is understanding, know that we get bored. etc, recommended
Nutrition- thought it would be easy and a fun class. She's a nice prof, but after the first month or so she gets very moody and hormonal. If you can opt for another prof- do so but if not you'll do just fine.
I figured intro to nutrition would be an easy class, but the class' average on the first test was a 70!She is very moody and gets cranky!!The second test was much easier. I learned a lot, but didn't like her
compared to the other options for a prof she is the best. picks on people in class like in highschool. gives plenty of in class assignments but exams are difficult. makes u scared to ask questions. assigns seats for whole semester and takes attendance. only allowed 2 skips! too much for a level 105 course
Exams aren't extremely difficult, but she will trick you on a lot of questions. She started out fine, but she spazzes!!!! Treats class like you are in high school once again and makes you feel like you must sit in the same seat the whole semester, if you don't she will call you out.
She is a wierd lady bordering on the psycho side. if more than 2min late to class, youre graded as absent. Tests arent too bad but she will try to trick you a lot. Even though i really didnt like her, she is better than the other nutrition prof.
The material is not difficult, however, the test questions are confusing. She never gives a clear answer about anything. She has pretty bad mood swings and starts class early sometimes. She is way better than the other prof though...
BRIEFLY covers material; might as well be an independent study class. Want a clear, concise answer?-don't ask her b/c she just blurts out something that makes sense to her, not us. Exams aren't too bad, no cumulative final thank goodness. A little OCD I think. Better than other nutrition prof though. Good Luck!
I feel that this class did not prepare me for the future. Dr. Nochera is very unclear, rude, and arrogant. If you take her, never go to office hours or ask questions in class-seriously! it's not worth your frustration. I liked reading the book though.
This instructor is RUDE!!! She did not teach me a thing. If you want to learn you have to teach yourself, however, the book is really good. I hear she is better than the other instructor that teaches this course, but I will never take one of her classes again!
Prof. Nochera is a pretty good teacher. She does speak fast and runs through her material at a much faster pace...but she is MUCH BETTER than Niezielski. If you have to take BMS 105, take it with Nochera. The exams are straight from her notes, powerpoints, and booklet. (PS. almost no need for the Nutrition book at all and final is easy)
Nochera is awful! She talks faster than anybody should ever talk and she is really hard to understand through her spanish accent. She hardly covers any material that is on the test and then is ****y when students ask her to curve the exams. DO NOT TAKE HER FOR ANYTHING!
Easy class, except she explains general concepts but tests you over specifics. Kind of confusing at times, and can be very moody. Show up for class on time and you should be alright.
Take notes. Ask her to slow down if she is talking to fast. The exams were easy, 50 multiple choice questions. She did not need to curve exams people!
She is the most annoying and rude person i have ever met. Had no respect for students, and she sucked at teaching. Notes didnt help at all, and it was such a pointless and boring class. I hated her! DO NOT TAKE BMS WITH CARMEN NOCHERA
She is extremely rude. Don't ask a question or try to participate in class discussion unless you want to be cut off and made to look foolish. She doesn't let you finish a sentence before she snaps "I don't know what you're asking" then spends half her time apologizing for her comments (only to the class as a whole never to an individual).
READ the book... test are nothing like what she talks about in class. Random little vocab from the book is what she is all about. Not a hard class but she is a horrible prof.
Tests aren't bad, but shes a total B....
She hates students, not fair, doesn't know the material. Ambiguous exam questions
No Comments
Nochera is very energetic. She is kinda rude but I don't think it's intentional. She isn't too helpful either. Read the book to pass tests. Not a memorization type class... Test questions are based on info she says but not directly... more application than anything. No final exam. She grades pretty easily if you make a fuss for more points.
She is demanding, but if you listen to what she says and follow directions, she is not bad
I will never take a class with her again. I did well in the class but she isn't helpful at all and her exams have nothing to do with material covered in class.
Nochera was so much fun for capstone! I haven't had her for anyother class, but she made capstone fun and easy. (She even bought us pizza one day) I took it as a night class and she only kept us for 1 of the 3 hours everytime. TAKE HER FOR YOUR CAPSTONE!!!!
She is a crazy hyper lil lady. She knows what shes talking about but its hard to understand her because of her hispanic accent. Shes funny and he hand outs are dumb and her exams are really hard. Shes cool as a person but not as a prof
I had Nochera for basic nutrition and found the class to be incredibly easy. I never studied and just listened to what she went over, her exams were pretty much exactly what she taught in class. If you ask her questions though she gets impatient. The biggest downfall is that attendance is mandatory.
I think that she means well, but her exams are mostly what she thinks not always facts. Most questions will have 2 right answers and she will just tell you to pick the best one. When you go to her office hours you feel like its a chore for her to help you. Good lady but not a good professor.
Not a difficult class if you study the notes she gives you. Her exams are almost straight off of the notes. She tends to stick to her opinion, and don't raise your hand to ask a question or voice an opinion. There is a good chance she will ridicule you.
She will make fun of you if you ask questions. Buy a tape recorder b/c she speaks a mile a minute. If you ask her to repeat something, she gets mad. Two absenses allowed, after that your grade drops. She knows a lot about the material but does not know how to talk to students. I wouldn't want anyone I care about to take her class. Terrible.
Horrible prof, in fact, worst one I ever had. Her exams do not 100% pertain to what was taught, her teaching is simply reading a few power point slides, and giving paper handouts from the 90s. There were also a few videos shown, all from the 90s. All her knowledge is also not up to date. I corrected her on a few facts and she couldn't handle it.
You have to read the book if you want to do well on the exams. If she didn't take attendance, I wouldn't have gone to any of her classes b/c they are pointless. Tests are WAY more comprehensive than her notes. The book is a must. Oh, and she is a little nutty too.
Bottom line worst prof ever. material covered in class was never on the test, which made them impossible. Class was pretty boring. She talks too fast and just scribbles on the bored. she takes attendance every class and singles you out if you walk in late. I even went to her office hours and it did not help. do not take this prof.
I wasn't a fan of the way she teaches. Her tests are impossible to get an A on... she tells you the only material that will be on is information covered in lectures, but that's not true. Plus the way she words her exams are ridiculous. You get 300 points participation which helps a lot. Really nice lady and cares about students, not greatest prof.
Worst professor I have ever had. Studying does nothing. The material she puts on the exams are not put on the notes. Almost every exam question is A) blah B) blah 2 C) blah 3 D) A and B E) A and C. Do not take this professor!
BMS majors take her for capstone! Dont listen to the 105 students, Nochera is amazing. You go each class for an hour or less (if its a 3 hr class) and the only thing you have to do is your paper. You get random points for turning in parts of the paper! She is amazing, as long as you turn stuff in and go to class its an easy A!
I feel like the best word to describe Nochera with is "spicy". She's got an accent with a sassy tone and can be really funny. She genuinely wants you to do well, gives hundreds of participation points, but the tests are rough and I havent figured out the key to success yet.
NOT RECOMMENDED. Attendance is taken every day. Her exams are absolutely brutal, especially for a 105 level BASIC Nutrition class. Only thing that will save your grade is attendance and participation work. Her accent, as well as her garbage handwriting, make understanding her difficult.
Exams were extremely random. Final was a paper. Her handwriting was illegible...she seems like a nice, funny lady that I would love to be my friend. As a professor, I left class not sure what I needed to know..gives a TON of participation which pads your grade.
For a BASIC nutrition class, this was one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. Dr. Nochera was very unclear on a lot of things, especially her exams. Her exams were IMPOSSIBLE! Just run..run far away from this class.
For basic nutrition it was difficult. She has a genuine interest in seeing the students do well but the the test were near impossible to pass. Very difficult even if you studied for 3 days straight. her accent is fun and you can save your grade with particitpation points but the test could kill you...
She's a very nice lady, just don't take her class.
WORST PROFESSOR AT GVSU. DO NOT TAKE. I have a 4.0 across the board and am barely pulling a C - in her class. Hoping participation saves my grade. Exams are impossible. Studied for days and still struggled immensely. She's nice as a person but terrible when it comes to teaching. And this BASIC nutrition... makes no sense.
Very easy professor, her exams aren't straight forward, they make you think. Not hard just different. If you get the study generally then you can apply the material specifically. Very lenient on grading class assignments. Points for attendance cushion your grade. I barely paid attention and got a B. And she's funny. Recommend!!
If u want to be treated in a rude and belittling manner take herDoesn't answer questions in a respectful way or sometimes refuses to at all. Fake Nice... Tests are ridiculous, amount of content and detail she requires you to know on test is not evident from the way she teaches the class especially for a 100 level BASIC nutrition class. Use the book
Honestly, one of the worst professors at GVSU. Does not care about her students learning but more about them signing an attendance sheet. Studied hard, tests were a nightmare, extremely stuck up to students. Says its her "passion"...if that is the case she has a lot to change in instructing her class. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Wonderful lady, horrible professor. She claims that only what she goes over is on the exam, but half the exams is stuff she never went over and half the stuff she went over wasn't on exams. She's also very scatterbrained so it's very hard to take notes. She does give a bunch of free points though which does boost the grade up quite a bit.
Worst professor at GVSU. Not clear on what will be on the test. The material you go over in class in hardly on the test and she tests you on things she never went over. Avoid taking her class.
Terrible professor. She has no idea what she is talking about the entire time. Do not ask her a question because she will immediately take offense and be condescending to you.
So you obviously came to ratemyprofessor looking for advice as to which professor to take nutrition with. NOCHERA IS NOT YOUR ANSWER! I had a horrible relationship with Nochera simply because her expectations were through the roof though she did not deliver the content that she tested on. There is definitely a reason A students receive Cs with her.
This class isn't very hard, but she definitely makes it more difficult than needed. Her answer to questions never are clear and barely answer you, she speeds through material with vague and terrible notes. She knows her stuff but is not good at communicating it at all. There is barely any homework and the final exam was a project that was a plus
I was pleased with this professor. Her class was not hard, but it was definitely not a blow-off class. If you understand nutrition fairly well coming into this course, you will do fine. Beware, she can be a little scatterbrained in lecture, and she moves through the information fairly quickly. She cares about student's success; I recommend her.
I'm highly disappointed with the other comments. Nochera is NOT hard whatsoever. If you are a good student, you'll do fine. Take the time and learn the material and study before exams and you'll do great! I took this class in 6 weeks, so she taught us 15 weeks of material in a shorter time period and it was easy! Don't stress about it :)
Very interesting class, but she was not the best teacher. It was hard to understand her at time and she was not always clear on assignments. She would also never answer your questions fully. Her tests were super hard. She never taught half of the stuff that was on her exams. You could study everything and still fail. Don't take her.
She makes the class very interesting, but she moves very fast and scatterbrained so it makes it confusing and not much notes. The exams are lucky to have half the stuff she teaches so you better be good at guessing .
Dr. Nochera is a sweet lady and has good intentions. However, her course material isn't clear at all. I took basic nutrition thinking I would love it and I dreaded going to lecture. Exams are difficult. She takes attendance everyday and gives you participation points so take advantage of that. Also, the final is a paper so it's easier than exams!
Nochera was great, loved the class, but exams contained material never mentioned in class and it was tough to study for. She had many assignments but never had us turn in anything and the final was a project. Its an easy class if youre prepared to do a lot of extra reading.
Nochera is an extremely nice lady, but she goes way too fast through her power points and doesn't explain things very well. There were things on her exams that I had never even heard of before and I read all of the chapters in the books as well as taking detailed notes during class. I would avoid taking her if you can.
Biggest thing I can say is that the tests are ridiculously hard. Studied a total of 18hrs before her first exam and still got a D+, our class average was not even in the 70's!! Some of the other exams are easier but it was hard to recover. Lectures were awful but you had to go. Talks way too fast and doesn't give you time to take notes.
This might be the worst professor I have ever had. She talks very very fast, and gives you no time to take notes. The notes are irrelevant on the tests though, more than half of the material on the tests is never covered in class or in the book. She tried more to be our personal nutritionist than to actually teach us the material.
She may be the worst professor I have ever had. She makes a 100 level class nearly impossible and does not review anything before exams. She does make powerpoints for lectures but they are brief and nothing on her exams is from her powerpoint. She talks very fast and does not give time for the students to take notes. Only thing graded are exams.
Dr. Nochera is nice a funny lady but absolutely horrible professor. Went to every lecture and took good notes but exams are impossible. Studied for hours and read the chapters and still did HORRIBLE. She puts material on the exams that aren't in the book or notes. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS if you want to get a good grade.
This class should have been very easy, but was made difficult by Dr. Nochera. Her accent confuses you and a lot of the things on the tests were not directly taught to us. The final is made easy with a project, but still not worth the difficult course.
Very unorganized and frazzled most of the time. Her power points aren't very descriptive for what she asks you on the exams. If you read the book, you'll get an A. She's more concerned with giving out nutrition advice rather than teaching nutrition.
Professor or (Doctor) Nochera is my worst professor so far at GVSU. First, she does not teach out of the book, she teaches on personal experience and her other job. She then proceeds to give you exams on material in the book. This would not be a problem, but the way the information is presented on the exam is very confusing. DO NOT TAKE HER. GO GV!
She made this class way harder then it needed to be. Her power points are really no help at all and didn't teach about nutrition so much as how to eat healthy. She doesn't teach whats on the exams at all so read the textbook for your best shot. Go to class if you want point for participation you'll need it trust me. Nice lady over all though
The class is very easy if you study the notes and powerpoint presentations she gives. A lot of the tests are based off of questions at the end of chapters in the book, so BUY THE BOOK. She was very all over the place, unorganized, talked about unrelated topics. But, she also let us out early a lot. Overall, her class was easy.
She made this class was incredible easy; our only assignments were writing a 10-20 page research paper. She was strict that our paper needed twenty peer reviewed studies and it had to be about nutrition, but otherwise it was an easy-going class. We probably only met for half of our class sessions so we could have time to work on our paper.
If you want an A in this class do not take her. Her test have more than one right answer, but you can only select one. You must read the textbook to pass.
Show up to class, type your notes and type what she says, not just what's on the powerpoints. She gave us 200 free points just for turning in assignments and we went over all of them in class. Her assessments are hard (I had two Cs and a B+ on the exams) and still finished with a B+ in class. The final exam is just a paper and everyone gets 100%.
I enjoyed her class. You simply have to show up, write down her power points and what she says, and do the (fairly easy) activities and you'll do well. She really cares about her students and she's very sweet. She takes attendance, but lets you out early every time. There were only 3 exams, and the final was a research paper that is an easy A.
The course itself covers content that is fairly straight-forward and relatively easy. The tests are not. There is no correlation whatsoever to the degree of difficulty of the lecture and content covered and the exams. She is absolutely terrible. She doesn't actually teach you. She cares about her students at only a surface-level. Just terrible.
I do not recommend Professor Nochera. At first she really seemed to care about her students, but as the year went on she progressively stopped showing up to class. Her tests are hard and I don't think they are fair. It's almost impossible to get an A in this class.
Don't take this prof!! She made this class a lot harder than it should've been. Everything she taught in class was common sense. Then, you get to the exams and they're extremely hard. I studied a ton for the exams and got c's and b's. Our class averages were always a low c. Take House!! Had her as a sub one day and she was awesome!
I personally liked her, she really did want each student to do well, although her exams were very difficult. She had to be told several times to slow down during class because she flies through the notes which she verbally does notes. She recommends you read the chapters in the book, but its not required. Also, our final was easy, just a paper!
not cool
Horrible professor. She'll tell you that things won't be on the test and then they will be almost verbatim. She also forgets what she teaches and doesn't teach and then will yell at you for not knowing the stuff she did not teach and specifically told you that you don't need to know. She's a joke.
Would not recommend taking her. Lectures seemed fairly simple and straightforward, but the exams are tough. Her exam questions are tricky and confusing, and there are numerous typos. The nutrition booklet you had to buy that she wrote was awfully written and confusing, too. Didn't really learn much at all in this class.
Don't let this 100 level course fool you! Lecture power points are VERY confusing. Test questions are very tricky and confusing. Dr. Nochera had to leave half way through the semester, and Professor house took over. TAKE PROFESSOR HOUSE! Her exams were so much easier, tests were straightfoward, her class is an easy A.
Dr. Nochera does not deserve to have such a low rating. Her tests are hard, but only if you do the bare minimum in the class. You will have to read the book, and you will have to pay attention to the lectures, but that's true of most college classes. She generally cares for her students and wants to see us all pass the class.
What a nightmare. She's a super sweet lady & funny, but that's not why were there. For a 100 level this was a joke. Attendance taken every lecture, also a joke. We aren't in 2nd grade. Lectures were unorganized & random, exams were worse. No idea what's ever expected or how to even prepare for exams. If you need any kind of structure do not take!!
She is fun in lecture but speaks fast and if you don't write everything down you will miss stuff for the test. Her powerpoints have little information on them and the tests are much harder than she makes it seem. Her class is too specific and challenging for a 100 level class. She does weight the tests and homework the same though.
She is wonderful! The material itself isn't extremely interesting but she does her very best to get you excited about learning. The exams are kind of tough but you have a lot of in-class assignments that help boost your grade! You have to attend class because she takes attendance but you are allowed to miss a few times if necessary. I loved her!
This class was awful. She lectures from powerpoints that have very little info on them and she gets sidetracked a lot. The exams don't match up with the lectures at all and are very difficult so it was very hard to know how to prepare for them. She's a very sweet lady but it seemed like she was more concerned with being our friend than our teacher.
What you need to know: - READ THE BOOK: all of her exams only have info from the book, not so much from lecutre - ATTEND CLASS: she takes attendance and will call you out for not showing up - she talks very fast so ask if you can record her lecutres - she lets you do group quizzes and grades assignments easily, but TESTS ARE VERY HARD!!! STUDY!
DO NOT TAKE HER. Worst professor I have ever had. Exams are NOTHING like anything she teaches. She should not be a professor, plain and simple. This class is an absolute joke for a 100 level class. I am an a BMS student and her class was horrible. Made me drop the nutrition emphasis. Take this class with ANYONE else.
This class is a NIGHTMARE. She's very nice but she should NOT be a teacher. The information she "teaches" is very old school - it is so outdated and not accurate. Takes attendance everyday too which is annoying. Lectures are unorganized and confusing/don't make sense. Exams don't match the material she presents in class. Worst class I've taken.
If you enjoy learning about nutrition or want to learn more, do NOT take this class with Dr. Nochera. She is a sweet lady, but her material is outdated and her exams don't match her lectures. She cancelled a great deal of class and expected us to know the material. She goes fast and comes off passive aggressive which makes it hard to ask questions.
Shes a nice person but her teaching style is entirely based around very low info power points and she says that the tests are based on the power points but they never were. She kept changing her teaching style when it came to reviewing for exams and it made it so you had no idea what the exam was going to be over. Talks VERY fast during lectures
Tbh Prof Nochera didnt seem to put alot of effort into BMS 105. Lectures were rather bland and her powerpoints were black/white with only a few words. I did learn some stuff in this class, however I wouldnt recommend this prof. Pretty sure Dr. Nochera retired in spring 2020 anyways...
Very easy capstone prof. I think she's retiring after this semester. Put in the work week to week, finish the paper and do the presentation A grade. She's a beam of positivity and friendliness. She remembers everyone's names and is a lot of fun. Always available to answer questions.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. The class is online and all she does is post 2-4 short lecture videos that she recorded from last year for an entire 2-3 week unit. Her lectures have nothing to do with exams so basically if you do not read and take notes from all of the chapters on the book you are going to do bad. You have no idea what to expect on exams.
I have never had a more confusing professor ever. She will say one thing but mean the total opposite. This class you will not learn anything, its more about passing and getting your work done before exams than learning anything. The work was easy and came along with pre recorded lectures. Questions on the exams would be worded very confusingly.
Extremely confusing professor. Her emails make absolutely no sense. This class was online & all she posted were 3 short lectures covering weeks of material? They don't prepare you for the exam whatsoever. The exams were so difficult for no reason. I didn't learn a single thing & am still confused. I have taken nutrition before & I was still so lost
Prof. Nochera's instructions for everything were incredibly unclear. She doesn't really know how to run a class. The exams covered no material that was learned in class and when you'd email her about it she'd have a lackluster response that never answered your questions. I would not recommend taking her ever.
Dr. Nochera is not a very good professor. Her online lecture videos were nothing like the exams at all. Her lectures are just her rambling and she is not very good at explaining. There is barely any work to be graded, so if you don't do good on the exams you're basically screwed.
She's absolutely sucks. I am generally a good student who gets all As but she made it nearly impossible. I swear I only did decent on some exams out of pure luck. 10/10 do not take her.
Do not take this professor. Her entire class revolves around lecture videos that do not relate to the exams at all. Her lectures have very little useful and accurate information so you're basically wasting your money taking this class because you learn nothing. Her emails also make no sense and she makes you feel stupid for asking questions.
professor nochera is such a nice person, she genuinely wants everyone to do well. the course itself will be HARD if you don't read your book. every class is lectures and notes, but the majority of info on the tests are from the book, not what we cover in class. but we always get out like 30 minutes early which is nice!
She expresses that she wants us to succeed but teaches nothing that is on the exams. We have online exams mostly and I even looked at my notes from her lectures and 90% of the information on the exam was never taught. Do not take her class!
Professor Nochera is super caring towards her students, and is always emphasizing that she wants us to succeed. She moved her exams to an online format so that we could use our notes and she gave us all 100% on a few quizzes. The only thing is that her lectures seem to have little connection to the exams, but it makes it easier with the book.
Most confusing and unhelpful prof ever. Wasn't even able to answer most student questions because she would get confused and not understand what you were asking. Kind of demeaning and lectures were rushed with almost no info given. Exams had specific questions on them them that she rushed through in class and weren't in the book. Don't take her.
Awful prof. Lecture content was outdated and questionable. Terrible at lecturing, would talk super fast and pretty much just read off vague bullet points and never explained anything. Would email her with specific questions and she would give me two word responses that didn't even answer any of my questions. Overall very unhelpful and wouldn't take
Didnt even grade our final paper this past year , just collected it and submitted our final grades without it even though we worked on them for a whole month. Lecture material is rarely whats on the test, you practically have to memorize the whole book. Doesnt matter if you were sick (quarantined) and did an assignment, no credit if not present.
Ive been in this class for a few weeks and this is probably the worst class Ive ever been in. Shes awful at lecturing and talks so fast. She tells us to ask questions and then gets very rude when we ask to clarify something she says which happens all the time because she talks ridiculously fast. DO NOT TAKE HER. exams are nothing like the notes
Literally take any other professor for this BMS class, the exams are nothing like the topics covered in class and she says that she cares but upon asking her a question she acts like you've just offended her and that you're stupid. Don't bother emailing her outside of class either, she's no help and will not accommodate for anything.
Exams are the worst. Typos in every question, most questions are confusing and trick you, she curves every exam by at least 10% because everyone would do so poorly on them. I mean she will make sure you get a good grade however, it was a struggle all semester trying to figure out her exams.
Her tests were on lockdown browser and not based on anything she taught. She made up the questions and answers based on her opinion. Also made us write a 3 page paper for our final exam and never graded it
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Her lectures are horrible- she talks so fast that you can't even understand what she's saying and more than half the time she has no clue what she is talking about. She makes slideshows for you to take notes but it is pointless because none of it is ever on the exam- the exams are just based on her personal opinion
Dr. Nochera is the best BMS capstone prof-- no question. She gives you so much time to work on your paper (which is the only thing you do all semester), you barely meet for class, and she is an easy grader on the paper and presentations. Very easy A with her, and she is an absolute gem of a person.
Was a very sweet lady but I didn't enjoy her classes. Spoke very fast, often had to ask if students were following along, then proceeded to teach before anyone could answer. Her assignment answers are often different than what she taught in class, she is also absent often. She was also impatient at times, almost like she wanted to rush through class.
The course consists of 3 exams 2 activity sets and a final paper. She doesn't put the activity sets in until the last 3 weeks of the course so you have no idea what your real grade is. Her exams are not based off of material taught and are written to confuse you. Take a different professor for this course.
she was a great person, super nice. bad teacher, she would put up slides with summaries on it of the topics we were learning, hard to understand and would babble, she would cancel class a lot which was nice sometimes but I needed to study a lot
she really cares about her students and tries to be personable but goes over nothing that is ever on the tests. lectures rarely, if ever correlate, and you will have to do 10x the work outside of class using the textbook to prepare for tests. attendance is MANDATORY. super sweet though and tells funny stories, just expect to learn on your own.
DO NOT TAKE Her lectures have nothing to do with tests and even if a test is open note you will most likely do bad.notes don't correlate. She teaches off her opinions on things and talks so fast it's hard to understand, even if you ask her to slow down. teach yourself or fail basically.
The professor is nice, but the class is a struggle. Exams are tricky and don't match the lectures. Use the textbook and resources like unstuckstudy to prepare. Attendance is mandatory, so engage as best you can.
