Carmenmara is fun and always enthusiastic..But she is a really hard teacher..her tests are super hard. If you have the chance to take her..do..but get ready to study!

Ms. Hernandez Is my favorite teacher I have had here at Saddleback. She is the funniest teacher I have ever had and if you enjoy humor take her class. You will never forget her, once you've had her, and to top it off shes a great teacher!

One of the most amazing people I have ever met, but don't bother taking her if you're a chauvanist, bigot, or ****, because she respects everyone, and expects that her students due the same. Always willing to answer any questions. Outstanding teacher.

well. its a fun class bc its all about movies and discussion. but ... there were a lot of assignments. im not sure if she even graded any of them, but there are questions following EVERy film, AND two long papers about movies/history. also, shes a little opinionated so be open minded.

Great teacher!! Take her and you won't regret it. She offers a ton of extra credit, cause the class is kinda hard. If you are prepared to work hard then take her and get that A.

In the advanced Spanish classes she speaks basically no English. It can be challenging to understand a new grammer rule when it is explained in Spanish. The classes are fun and she makes you talk in Spanish about real world events. Understanding the spoken word is always the most challenging.

Warning--12pg paper due by end of semester but she is one of the most involved, culturally aware, bright, witty, dedicated and compassionate professors!! DO YOUR HOMEWORK/LABTIME and YOU WILL HAVE AN A! She wants you to absorb the material, not just ST memorize.

She is an excellent teacher! She has a strong accent so pay attention, and you really have to study for her tests because they're hard, the quizzes are pretty easy though. I was really surprised by what an easy grader she is because I totally thought I was going to fail, but I ended up getting a B!

If you ever take a spanish class take it with her. AMAZING woman. i wouldnt take a language class with anyone else.

I'm unsurprised to hear men that don't like to acknowledge patriarchy, but learning languages is about opening yourself to new perspectives. Regardless of what right-wingers would have you believe, she is incredibly dedicated and insightful and believes in questioning the world. Her class is anything but predictable and rote.

She is soooooo amazing. How can people say so many horrible things about her. Sure, she might be opinionated, but if you can back up what you believe, she won't attack you. I learned more Spanish in her class in three semesters then I did in 4 years from High School. She is also the sweetest lady and really cares about every student. A+++++!!!!!!!!

I took this class and I thought she was great!?! She definetly let a lot slide for our class and offered an INSANE amount of Extra Credit too! :) I recomend her to ALL my friends that need to take a lang class. I also loved the way she was always so full of energy and joy, (even if it was 9 o'clock at night)

Challenging class. There will be a mix of non-native and native Spanish speakers, and the class spends a lot of time talking about current events in Spanish. Prof has very liberal political and social views, so if yours don't match, be ready to defend in Spanish. She's not a harsh grader, and you'll learn a lot.

Best teacher ever she gives tons of EXTRA CREDIT if you fail the class it's because you want too. She is very open minded and oppinionated but respects and listens to others views as well

If u judge this woman based upon the fact that you have blone hair & blue eyes then you misunderstood her.. She doesnt care, but if you are there just takin up space in a seat, why would she bother? This woman is a GREAT source of knowledge, her teaching is first rate, if ur willing to participate and take advantage. To not take her is foolish.

I loved Carmen-Mara!!! yes she is liberal, so as other people said, if you have very conservative views you may not enjoy class discussions. she is very fair and helpful and keeps class entertaining. i DEFINATELY recommend her class!!!!

Very liberal and opinionated but also caring and helpful if you do your part--like attend class, do your homework and participate in class. Sometimes assignments are not clear, so if you didn't do something exactly right, she's fair. A great sense of humor!

Carmenmara is a great teacher! I don't know why some people had a negative experience. I've had several Spanish teachers and never could really learn the language. This year is different. I've actually learned how to speak it and understand it. If I take Spanish II next year, I'll definitely take it with her. :)

Her teaching style: do the homework, come prepared to class. Learn the grammar however you can because she goes over the material really briefly. Very opinionated but very liberal, frequently holds class on controversies. Loved her class, she's amazing.

Carmenmara was one of the best professors I've had. I have never been the best student, but I got an A in her class! Not only did I get an A, but I understand people when they speak Spanish one hundred times better than I have before. She's very helpful, even offers tons of extra credit. If she sees you trying your best, you'll get a good grade!:)

I have had the pleasure of taking several of Carmenmara's classes. She makes all her classes interesting and fun! I actually looked forward to getting up early to go to her summer class. Additionally, she is intelligent, caring and helpful. Take as many of her classes as you can. You will be glad that you did!

she is not the type of language teacher that insists everything be in spanish. She is very entertaining (class was actually fun). The book is frequently used in class. Earlier editions may be cheaper, but it can be confusing if your pages don't math up with the book she is using. Show up for class if you want to know when the quizes are.

shes a very nice teacher. she helps students with their problems, even if they are not regarding the class. she is liberal which make the class really fun if you r open minded. you will change your perspective about few thinga, at least i did!!!. attendance is important if u wanna have an A.I im taking as many of her classes as i can. I love her!!!

¡Carmenmara es profesora fabulosa! I had never taken spanish before. She speaks enough english for students to learn quickly. She's funny, and cares for students, always answering questions. She reviews for tests the day before, so attend. Be prepared; class is a LOT of work. Homework= workbook, lab book, book exercises, and a 12 page group paper.

Great professor. Wants every one to succeed and goes out of her way to help you as long as you ask. Tests are hard but she preps you.

I love Carmenmara! Her class is definitely challenging and you have to keep up with the work if you hope to pass, but I never feel lost or overwhelmed. She gives loads of opportunities for extra credit and she is the funniest woman. If you need to take Spanish definitely take it with her

She is absolutely hysterical and an amazing teacher! She can be kinda hard to follow sometimes, but i always walk out of class laughing and feeling like i learned something. You miss a lot if you skip .Its definitely not an easy A if you dont put the work into it, but she will do everything she can to help you succeed! Take her class!!!!

Carmenmara, is a wonderful teacher. If you truly want to learn Spanish she will teach you very well. The quality of her class is extremely high. She will however make you work for your grade. She is not just interested in teaching you Spanish but also making you think critically. Wonderful human being, and devoted teacher. She is also very funny.

Carmenmara is a wonderful teacher, she talks a lot about herself but then she relates what she's talking about to the students to start a class discussion. her classes are always really fun and this is the only class this semester that i haven't missed once. take her!

Carmenmara is a very strong language teacher. Much of her class is directed to stimulate students' critical thinking and her methods work. Not an easy "A" but if you do your homework and read in advance of the class, you will be more than OK. She helps student who lacks understanding. She's a liberal thinker. Carmenmara is one of the best professors I have ever had. I highly encourage anyone to take that class that is SERIOUS about learning. Get to know her, let her get to know you and your time in her class will be well spent. She will help with anything you are struggling with in and outside the classroom.

First of all, anyone who didn't do well or badmouths this professor either didn't really care about doing well or didn't go enough to find out what she is all about. I started off the semester unsure of her class and after a family issue and missing enough class to the extent that I shouldnt have passed, she took the time to help me succeed.

She is the most easy going spanish teacher I have ever taken. I took her not really expecting anything but she was super funny and she has great stories to tell. Although you dont really learn in this class, it's an easy A. She doesnt regularly take attendance but she knows who comes to class and who doesnt. She grades I think on participation.

By far one of the best professors at Saddleback! Her lectures are extremely interesting and she can be funny and very caring!! Goes up and beyond to help her students!! She wants to see all of them excel!! Great professor!! Impossible to fail her classes!!! I recommend her 2000% !!!

One of the greatest instructors I have ever taken! Her "total immersion" philosophy is very difficult to catch onto if you're like me and very weak in English grammar itself. English to Spanish translation made it easier for me. I will recommend Carmenmara to ANYONE who has to take Spanish. She treats you like family and really cares!!

She is a great teacher with a lot of spunk. I thoroughly enjoyed her class. She unfortunately is not very accessible outside of the class and harder for students with no spanish experience at all. Very firm believer in tutors and you must stay caught up on the reading to be prepared for class topics. Recommended with caution.

Loved her! If you do not take her class you're wrong! She's so nice and easy to work with. She picks your best quizzes to put on your final grade and after every test you have a chance to correct your mistakes for more points! Really wish I could take her again for future Spanish classes. Has a real "mom" feel to her.

Good teacher! You'll definitely need to know some Spanish before taking her class which was easy for me since it's my second language, but besides that she puts a big focus on the culture/ locations of various Spanish-speaking countries on her tests/quizzes but gives you bonus points after you correct them and review them with her.

A lot of information is covered in class, but she takes the time in helping you understand the material. She is big on the culture of Spanish speaking countries, which makes the class interesting.

Here class was the best class I took in saddleback so far. I was taking Spanish for the first time in my life. Spanish is not an easy language to learn but she is an amazing instructor.

Hernandez-Bravo is a very caring instructor. She takes a more conversational approach to teaching, placing students into groups and working from the text. The only homework is the online lab that is worth 10% of your grade. She keeps your top 4 quizzes, offers lots of extra credit, and gives only a handful of tests. Study hard and you'll do well.

Carmenmara is a fabulous teacher. However, if you are a first time espanol learner, i would reccomend a tutor. My biggest advice is to show up to class. That's truly what matters most (bring book!!!). The tests are not hard because she will tell you LITERALLY exactly what you are being tested on. Take good notes. Trust the process.

Carmenmara is caring, funny, interesting, and opinionated. I liked her personality, but she is pretty disorganized which I did find annoying. She does provide several extra credit opportunities and doesn't grade too harshly on essays. Spends most of class talking about the same political issues every time, so be prepared to study on your own a lot.

AMAZING PROF!! I took her Spanish 4 class but ended up learning far more than just Spanish grammar: she educates her students on real word issues and events. She is caring and funny therefore her classes are enjoyable. Prepare yourself for the tests and learn the grammar/material. Put in the work on your part and she'll help as much as she can.

She is brilliant when it comes to the Spanish language. Not an easy A by any means. Very few students actually manage to get them. She is a very tough grader and she knows it :). But my Spanish has improved so much. I love her mindset of total immersion. For a non-native speaker, it was very appreciated. She offers extra credit opportunities.

Best teacher I've had! I wish I could take her class again next semester. No class taught by her is ever boring and it's very easy to understand everything she teaches.

She was a good professor but it was a little hard to understand lectures, most of the class was spent in student groups practicing exercises. Lots of homework but you have 2 weeks to finish. She likes to talk a lot about politics in the classroom so be prepared.

As a Spanish speaker I thought it would be an easy grade but halfway through I was struggling. Study and review the grammar before the class that meets once a week. The assignments are low points and the exams are very high points so if you do bad on an exam your grade takes a tool. Carmenmara was very kind with extra credit and helped me a lot.

The professor makes the class engaging with group work and visual aids. While online classes can be disorganized, Unstuck ai proved helpful for study prep. The workload is manageable if you stay on top of assignments. Overall, a solid intro Spanish course.
